I m in town for business and had the opportunity to go out for dinner and catch up with my daughter so of course we had to head to one of our favourite restaurants- Gerti s!! Chicken Parm was our dinner selection paired with the Strawberry Lemonade and Strawberry Sangria - outstanding!!! Presentation, taste and value sum up our dinner experience! Jaya was our server and I encourage anyone looking for a friendly, personable experience to make Gerti s your next stop! Until next time!!

The food and service are great! As a temp stop to PEC, it s a nice place to chill. The Greek salad is one of the best I ever had.

All in all it was a decent meal. I ordered the beet salad with added tofu and they did a great job making it crispy and flavourful. The salad was quite large, making it feel close to worth the $27 price tag, and they were generous with the added protein and cheese. But I ordered a salad because they only offer one entree/handheld that is suitable for vegetarians. Since they already have tofu on their menu, I asked if they could sub it for chicken in a different dish, and the answer was no. The atmosphere on a Thursday night was a little sad. Service was okay but prices are way higher than youd expect for what looks like an old (and at the time, empty) pub.

Fantastic restaurant with delicious food coming from a huge and diverse menu. Friendly staff, quick service, great value. Will continue to go as a date night spot, a friendly dinner, or a night out with the family.

Wonderful place!

We had dinner with our daughter, her husband and our young granddaughter who were visiting from out of province. We had requested a high chair and were pleased to see it set up when we arrived. The staff were very friendly and the food was tasty, with big portions. Even our foodie family were impressed by their meals. It wasnt our first visit there and it definitely wont be our last!

Dietary restrictions: We re able to accommodate my dairy allergy and gluten allergy and create a delicious meal. Kid-friendliness: Our baby was our small dog and they were very welcoming on the patio and brought her a bowl of water.

My wife and her friend were there last night for a very rare girls dinner. They made a reservation and was seated in the window. Immediately after dinner, the waitress brought the bill. When they said they were going to have drinks and catch up, they were informed that they either had to move tables or leave as another person requested that table. The restaurant was mostly empty and there were lots of other seats. They ended up leaving and chatting in the car. Although my whole friend group used to frequent this place, I guess theres more important people that dine there. Do not recommend. Edit: since when is it good customer service to have people move tables to accommodate new customers. Regardless of thier issues, its poor practice. You sat the only customers in the place at the only mobility tables. You provided a poor experience. I hardly give poor reviews. Only when they are deserved.

Delicious food.

We had a reservation at 6:30 ,and arrived 10 minutes early .A pleasant server brought menus ,took drink orders and then our meal choice .From there things went sideways .My wife asked for a glass of ice to chill her wine - after 3 requests the ice arrived .We waited an hour and 15 minutes for our dinner- watching as two tables that were seated well after we arrived were served first .The server never returned to explain the delay ,except a walking past our table once to say our meal was on its way- but then again so was Christmas ! At no time was an explanation, apology or acknowledgement of the delay forthcoming .

We come here all the time and really enjoy it. The food is worth the wait and great quality. Last night however the service was really slow and a table who came in after us was served all their meals before us and we had to get up to pay. We tried to get our servers attention for about 10 minutes and we could see her talking to her co worker with her back to the back patio where we sat. When we got the front to pay our server didnt even acknowledge or apologize that we had to get up to pay which would have made a difference. I found this very discouraging.

Good food, good selection, modern take in classics. Our server had an attitude but maybe it was a hard day... would return. Good experience.

Stopped here for dinner after our original plan was fully booked, they were able to get us in and we are SO GLAD the first restaurant didn t have room. The food was incredible. So fresh and you can taste the homemade sauces! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Fast service and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back soon!

My husband and I just had lunch/dinner here today. The food was fabulous. My husband had the burger and I had the pesto linguine. They were both delicious, hot, and a very large serving. Our server Amber was very efficient and very very pleasant. She made the whole experience very enjoyable. She is definitely an asset to this restaurant. Will definitely come back for the food but also for the service. Great afternoon date with my husband made even more pleasant by the food and the service!

Paid substantial money for a steak. When served, it was smothered in gravy!. What kind of chef would do such a thing to a steak?!!!. Might as well have covered it in ketchup. Other food on the plate contained an over generous amount of salt. The over all quality of the meal was nothing short of insulting.

Definitely a go-to place to eat! Great good and service! Try the pierogi gnocchi if its on special!

Fun spot. Just in town to celebrate a birthday dinner with my sister and brother in law. Fish and chips were excellent. Crispy, huge piece of fish, delicious dipping sauces. Service was wonderfully attentive, and they treated us to a chocolate lava cake to celebrate. Would go back in a heartbeat.

I called and made a reservation but I was told that reservation is not necessary as they can accommodate my table of three. Upon arrival we were greeted by a cheerful hostess that made our day with her cheerfulness. Food was amazing service was great. Halfway through our meal we heard the table next to us talking about us and they were eyeing our food, one of them asked what we were having and we told them they must try the general tao chicken bao and honey garlic wings. (Phew, we thought we got new stalkers). We enjoyed our meal and service. Amazing staff and great food. Our favourite dish was buffalo cauliflower (vegetarian wings). Crunch Mac, general Tao bao ( say that five times fast). Chicken flat bread trust me we did order red meat too I know what this may sound like our favourite of all was primal cut burger. Juicy and tasty just do not order it well done might as well order more chicken if you order your burger well done. If you want to turn back time you should order dunkaroo cheesecake. It s basically an adult version of dunkaroos. You will have some flash backs and I hope it s a good one for you. Would definitely visit again if I come back to Peterborough.

We ended up booking Gertis for our rehearsal dinner based on the recommendation of our wedding venue. We had approximately 30 people for dinner so we were able to have the back patio to ourselves which was perfect. We called ahead to let them know what appetizers we wanted and they were brought our within 10 minutes of our partys arrival. It was wonderful so everyone could start eating while looking over the pre selected menu. The food was prompt and hot, our guests were raving about the service! I also grabbed a slice of the dunkaroo cheesecake to go which was heavenly. Next time we are in the peterborough area we will definitely come back and grab a meal.

Great service, large portion sizes, and some really excellent tasting food. Some unique takes on classics too, like a Big Mac Crunch Wrap. One of the best burgers Ive had in a long time!

Gertis is one of my most favorite Restaurants. Their food is always amazing. Service is incredible. Atmosphere is bussing. Highly recommend for a date night.

Group of 4, we arrived for an early dinner. Staff friendly, atmosphere relaxing. Nice selections on the menu, and our meals were tasty and served at the right temperature.

The meal was amazing. Probably the best burger I have ever had in my life. Sweet potato fries were seasoned perfectly. The melon margarita was the perfect blend of refreshing, sweet and sour. I will come back to this place over and over again. Our waitress Amber was absolutely amazing. Friendly, attentive and never felt like we had to flag her down.

The food was excellent, and large portions. The server was also excellent, very efficient and friendly. Havent been to Gertis in about 8-9 months. Will be back for sure.

Great spot in town, had the featured Bao buns and they were great!

My first visit to Gertis since the new management started. It was a birthday lunch visit with my wife, her son & his girlfriend. We were seated in the rear patio which was nice as it was a lovely day. I decided on the Cajun sandwich on Ciabatta with Cajun fries & I shared a pitcher of the Innis & Gunn Mango IPA with my stepson. The sandwich was nicely presented & was delicious, maybe a bit more Cajun spice would have been nice (I like some heat). The Mango Beer was excellent a welcome treat on a warm day. The service was superb from initial entry into Gerti s right the way through to billing. The menu had so many options I/we will definitely be back. They had a couple of beers that I like, Creemore Springs & the Innis & Gunn IPA. I will definitely return to try some of the other offerings and add a new venue to our list of great places for lunch or dinner.

The service was fantastic and we were given ice cold water and menus as we were seated. We started with the coconut shrimp appetizer which was delicious. My partner got Fish Tacos with sweet potato fries. She thought they were delicious and the pineapple toppings were a great added touch. I decided to go with the deep fried chicken club which turned out to be extremely disappointing. My first two bites were just chunks of batter. Which at this point I decided to just peel off the batter which was half of the sandwich. I was left with just a plain chicken breast on a bun. For the price I expected something way different, especially when Popeyes makes one 10x more appetizing. The atmosphere was way to loud which I know is very hard to control in a pub, but the loudness from some people made it hard to even think. I paid 100$ for the two meals and tip, which Overall left a sour experience in my mouth, I for one wont be returning anytime soon.

I don t know how this place gets 5 stars. Booked a party for 15 today and was met with rudeness. We arrived just a few minutes before their opening time which is 11:30 and did not see a waitress for almost 15 mins. We were very thirsty so a couple of us went to the bar to ask for water and told they were opening up the bar and had to wait. An additional 4 people came and the waitress was not happy about it! We then waited another 10 minutes, finally our water arrives and the waitress looked upset?? Weird!! Then another waitress came and we asked if we had to order from the specials menu or the QR code since online menu has more options. She then asked why we were being rude. We honestly were not being rude at all! We got up and left. Business must be good if you can afford to turn away a party for 19 at lunch time.

I get the garlic chicken flat bread every time. Its soooo good! Cauliflower bites are amazing as well! The service is always on point! Food

This is a must visit restaurant!!! Our first time here as a couple for date night and all we can say is wow wow wow! The food was absolutely delicious and portion sizes are perfect! We wish we had room for dessert because they looked and smelled amazing! Definitely check this place out... You wont be disappointed!

We arrived to the restaurant around 5. There were about 4 tables occupied and asked to be seated inside as it was a cooler day. About 20 minutes into our drinks, we placed our dinner order. Fast forward 15 minutes or so, another couple comes in, then another family of 5. We waited for about an hour and thought to ourselves, wow this is taking a while. I glanced up to see the other two tables mentioned finishing up their dinners. I asked the server what was going on amd she said that they were short staffed. I challenged her by asking how that changes anything and she responded by telling me she s new, which is also a stretch because we ve seen her there several times. I explained that her excuses aren t relevant because the other tables were served. I got up and went to the washroom only to learn that the patio was empty. Plain and simple, I believe that she forgot to put our order in but I may be wrong. The bill comes and it s over $110 for two meals. In my business, when someone is outwardly unhappy with my service, we make it right and for this reason, we will not be back. I always say, judge a business not by it s mistakes, however judge them by how they handle the mistakes which was poorly.

We start with a very good local dark beer. Two dishes ordered: Well cooked trout, good sanitation. Rice and vegetable accompaniment. Beef and salad.

Fresh and generous servings along with excellent service, in our case, by Courtney/Amber. Unique, fun, over-the-top dessert options make for a great final course. Full? Do it anyways.

We order wings, the meat smelled really bad and the waitress started blaming us and told us there s nothing wrong with the meat!!! She had very poor manners and we won t go there anymore!!!!

I had an extremely disappointing dining experience at this restaurant. The first thing that struck us was the unpleasant odor coming from the wings we ordered. They had a foul smell that made it challenging to enjoy the meal. Moreover, the menu prices were higher than average, and we didnt feel like we got our moneys worth. What made matters worse was the unhelpful and argumentative attitude of the waitress when we brought up the issue with the smelly wings. Instead of acknowledging the problem and trying to resolve it, she insisted that there was nothing wrong with our food. It was frustrating and left a bad taste in our mouths, both literally and figuratively. We value good customer service and expect a pleasant dining experience when paying a premium price for a meal. Unfortunately, this restaurant fell short on all accounts. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone based on my experience. Its essential for management to address these issues to maintain their reputation and attract returning customers.

The owner Diana and our server Courtney could not have been sweeter. We were greeted immediately with a big smile and felt like we were hanging with old friends. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great advice for ordering. We had a fabulous meal and will definitely be back, not just for the food but for the people.

We chose to have big family dinner here while vacationing near Peterborough because of the great selection of food on the menu. There was something for everyone. The food was mix of styles and their versions of dishes so read the descriptions so you re not surprised. Overall the food was very good and the service friendly.

I really like Gertis! They are a wonderful business in Peterborough and it s a place my partner and I enjoy going for dinner. I find we are always greeted with a smile, and the environment feels friendly and laid back. They have a lovely ambience on both patios and their inside dining room. We usually sit on the front patio. The food is always very fresh and hot which is something I m pretty particular about. I love that they have a specials menu which isn t always common, and it s always changing, bringing something refreshing to their menu. I have tried a few things on the menu, the pulled pork gnocchi is amazing! We love the deep friend picked (who doesn t? Lol), the crunch Mac was super yum! Their version of the fried chicken sandwich was so-so. The only thing I notice with their food is it is a tad bit too salty (and I LOVE salt, so that s saying something). They recently had bao buns on their menu and they were phenomenal! Their dessert, bao bun ice cream sandwiches, were really original and cute. I recommend. I really like the variety on their desert menu, because I think it s an area a lot of restaurants lack. Their cocktails are nice, and they have a good drink menu selection. I think Gertis is a place everyone should try if your a Peterborough local. People might say they are pricey, but in reality, it s hard to dine out for less than $100 these days. I think you get what you pay for, especially because their food is consistently good. They really do have something for everyone and I look forward to visiting there again.

Delicious food and service that is hard to beat!

Stopped in because of their dog friendly patio sign and were pleasantly surprised. A handful of vegetarian options and they can make stuff veggie if you ask. I really loved their buffalo cauliflower - perfect amount of breading (nice and thin) and crispy, and the cauliflower was not mushy at all. Vegetarian options: They can sub meat for tofu or just remove it. They made the fettuccine with extra mushrooms for us. They also have some options that are default vegetarian, which are good.

Second time being here since new ownership. Awesome food and service. Mariah was great! I wish I could remember our last servers name. You can tell the owner cares about the business and its employees.

Pretty good food

We brought the whole family out, and we had to wait 45 minutes before being served, food was good and drinks were good but it took forever. It took us 4 hours to order, eat, and wait for the bill. My husband asked for his bill and we didnt get it till about 45 minutes later. Unless you have a whole day to waste, I wouldnt bother.

Had the carbonara. The dish had way too much sauce and the the sauce was extremely thick. Worst tasting pasta dish I can remember from the last 10 years. The burger was standard fare, but costed close to $30! I cant recommend this restaurant. There is a reason why other similar restaurants nearby have a lower google review score but consistently have double the customers of Gertis.

Weve been to Gertis twice now and brought friends from out of town. Once again Gertis did not disappoint from the atmosphere to the service to the food. The food presentation, taste and portions were all amazing. Well done Gertis.

Ive dined at Gertis at least three times and have not been disappointed the fish tacos are the best theyre so good thats the only thing Ive ordered but Im sure everything else is just as tasty their servers are very friendly and efficient. highly recommend this restaurant

Great food! Its blasphemy to go there and not try the cheesecake. Do yourself a favour, you cant go wrong. The fried chicken sandwiches out of this world but my absolute favourite is the Chicken Club.

If I want good food and a great, relaxed atmosphere to enjoy some great food, I bring my friends and family out here. The back patio is great in the summer and the front booth looking out on to Hunter Street is the best seats in the house. Highly recommend for great food and great service!

Ordered for the first time a few weeks ago, fiance enjoyed his primal cuts burger, but my fried chicken sandwich was burnt, and the prices are too high to justify paying for burnt and just enjoyable. Super disappointing as their menu looked awesome. *Edited to one star as the owner commented to blame me for not posting a complaint sooner - I casually post a few ratings all at once to give other customers feedback. Not my fault the food wasnt done properly the first time.

The food is amazing. Always a great meal and perfect portions. The weekly specials are great as well. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable when asked about the items on the menu.

Ok I ll start by saying I m not here to bash the food by any means however here are some comments about the meal I just had from Gertis I got the chicken sandwich .. and let me say it s huge !! In fact it s way too big . It s double the size of the bun and was way over cooked . I love a good buttermilk breading but this was dry , way too over cooked and just a mess to try and eat. I even cut it in half . Some of the sides of the chicken were burnt . Cook it less make it smaller and this becomes an incredible sandwich I also got the beet salad which was really good

Came in to town for the music festival from Cannington look up restaurants downtown Peterborough read the goggle reviews looked at the menu and my wife and two Grandchildren decided on Gertis. Let me tell you it was outstanding great little funky back patio were we sat great service great food reasonably priced cold beer highly recommended

Wandered the streets of Peterborough and found Gertis. The patio looked inviting but we opted to sit inside as it was breezy and overcast. Service was prompt, Friendly. Atmosphere and music was good. The food was better then expected! All the food looked expertly prepared, the sauces and gravy were delicious. Only real issue was there was a bug on the side of one glass, and a small piece of food stuck inside another. Let that not sway your decision to enjoy a meal and a bevy. Thumbs up to the Gertis crew!

My friend I came here during our lunch break and the service quick and the food was delicious! I had the alfredo pasta with added shrimp and a ginger beer, and my whole lunch only came to $20. My friend had a crispy chicken burger with fries. Will come back again!

We went here for brunch on a Saturday. It wasnt too busy at noon, but it picked up very quickly. The staff was polite, but did not wear masks (i am not complaining but observing). The food was very nice, and good portions. I would have expected a place in Peterborough to be more modestly priced, and so i did not derive value. But a great experience at the patio and definitely recommended Vegetarian options: Wraps, salad, flatbread

To put it simply, the food and service are incredible here! Yesterday my family and I visited Gertis for the first time, and our fantastic server Samantha was attentive and accommodating. The food here is spectacular, and the cherry on top was when Samantha sang Happy Birthday to the table in sign language! Samantha, thank you again for such a great experience! You were so kind, and we hope to come back soon. Gerti s is an excellent place with great people. Again, thank you!

Had some excellent food here, fish and chips, fish tacos and chicken tenders. Sweet potato fries are wonderful! Our server Shannon was amazing! Parking is not expensive but its easiest if you have some loonies and toonies although there is an app you can download

A friend and I have been meeting in Peterborough for years, once a year to catch up, the place weve been going to closed during Covid Unfortunately. Gertis was amazing. Great food and great service. I had one of the daily specials, blackened snapper with a tomato sauce and shrimp, rice and veggies and it was spectacular. My friend had fish and chips and it was really good and the portions were huge. Best of all, it was reasonably priced with an extensive menu. I think weve found our new meeting spot. 10/10

We had an amazing birthday celebration at Gertis on the outdoor patio. The ambiance was wonderful, menu selection was excellent, and every item we ordered was absolutely delicious. Many thanks for the mouth-watering, complementary, chocolate-caramel cake and to Jenn for making our evening so special.

Went for a late lunch on the patio on a Saturday afternoon. Firstly - the food was INCREDIBLE and the servings are beyond generous. We had the beet salad, the power bowl, the fish tacos, and the fried chicken sandwich and would easily order any of them again. The food was all bright and fresh, and house dressing for the salads was out of this world. Secondly - the service was fabulous. Our server Sam (hope I remembered that correctly!) was charming, friendly, efficient, and though hustling the whole time we were there, she remained absolutely in-tune with our table and where we were with our meal. I met the owner (I wanted a lid for my dressing container to take rest home with me!) Diana who was delightful, as well. Highly recommend!

They have schnitzel on their menu It is the driest you could ever imagine very expensive not worth it whatsoever :( portions are small very disappointing...

Stopped in for a quick snack - she had fries, I had nachos. The fries were awesome...loved the sauce served with them. The nachos were cold and the oven baked chips were slightly stale and covered in an inch of cold, hardened cheese. The problem we had, was time...which is why we kept the order small, quick and simple. You reviews were great, so we took a shot. It literally looked as though it was a bag of chips and veggies dumped on a plate and a brick of chees melted in the microwave over the top and then left to cool before they came out. I pulled most of the cheese off and set it aside, and 3/4s of the chips were plain, uneaten and left. All the cues were there for the server, and we really werent in the position to wait on a redo. Because you took the time to respond though, and I loves me some nachos, I will swing by again and give it another shot one day soon. Thanks again!

Had dinner with my friend and originally asked for a side of jalapeños with our nachos. I had to ask three different waitresses for it and once we received it, our nachos were already done. I found a hair in my chicken flatbread. I told the waitress and she gave me free dessert which was good, but I totally loss my appetite. Manager told me that she was wondering how that happened since the cooks are males with short hair and made it sound like it was my hair. I told her it was underneath the toppings and I had to pull the hair out of my mouth. The service wasnt the greatest and wont be coming back.

Fresh and fancy

We stopped in here on recommendation from someone we met earlier in the day. Very disappointing, we had ordered 3 steak dinners, all 3 were cold, from the steak to the vegetables, 2 of us declined and one ate theirs anyways, very strange to see salad piled on the plate with a steak, that s big no no, as the juices from the steak, (that to also mention, had a red wine reduction poured over it) . would run into the salad .service was quite poor also, while trying to see if I would like something else, the waitress walked away to see to another table, on a not so busy time.

Went as a large group, we had three tables. Each table got served about 20 mins apart. Very slow, even with the understanding that we were a large group, and therefore a little stressful for the kitchen. Food was alright, not really anything special, and slightly over priced, we as a group did have have a good time, but overall not happy with the level of service we recieved.

Best meal in a very long time! Service was great! Food was great! Ambience was nice.

Food was good but expesnsive getting an ice tea and the seafood pasta with a side of salad for one, cost me about $43, then me giving a decent tip in these covid times my total bill was $50 Good food but not somewhere id go to again

We had Gerti s cater for a wedding. Diane and her staff were willing to accommodate us in such short notice which we were so thankful for. And lets not forget that then food was amazing!! We would definitely have them cater for us again :)

This restaurant has a great atmosphere which I have enjoyed on many occasions. Living near by, I have also enjoy getting takeout and delivery. Everything I have tried is delicious, however I m especially a fan of their pastas and burgers. The staff is wonderful, would recommend this place to anyone!

The restaurant was nice. Good atmosphere. Infection protocols in place and adherence followed. Service was good. Food was fine. Pita in appetizer was slightly burned. Mains were good and fresh cut fries were delicious.

My family and I stumbled on Gerti s our first time in Peterborough and we were more than pleased. The service was so lovely! The food was exceptional! The roasted red pepper dip with the garlic bread, mushroom soup, fish tacos and clubhouse sandwich were more than what you would expect. Honestly, I look forward to returning as soon as we can. After one bite of the ginger bread cheesecake I asked for one to go. Wow! Thank you for making our trip end on a great note and something we will talk about for a long time.

They hosted a wedding for close friend of my fiances and mine. They did excellent job. Great food, great service and great staff. Next time we are in Peterborough again I hope to stop in for a meal.

I went out last night for dinner and had the most wonderful waitress and great food. The waitress was very attentive and kind. I have not had an experience this wonderful in a long time. I believe her name was Sam but I cant remember. The food was great and atmosphere was beautifully done with some Christmas decor. I highly recommend this restaurant.
