The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Peterborough in Peterborough

I have been to the Keg Mansion in Toronto and also in Ottawa. Great food so l tried the Keg in Peterborough. I wasnt disappointed. I had the prime rib which was one of the best lve ever had. Tender enough to cut with just my fork. My friend had the sirloin strip and she just loved it. The atmosphere was warm and the restaurant was really well appointed. We had a great server and the whole staff just encumbered us with hospitality. I highly recommend the Keg Peterborough for an amazing dining experience. If you,can get your flu shot or Booster and lets protect each other!

Very nice restaurant! Delicious food

Hands down the best steak restaurant in Peterborough! They also offer the best virgin piña colada around. Yes it s expensive but you get what you pay for: great tasting food cooked to your liking. They have a kids menu which offers a few good choices. Bonus#1: free dessert if it s your birthday (and no, they didn t ask for proof). Bonus#2: complimentary warm sourdough bread for each table.

Got a simple Top Sirloin with a loaded baked potato. No cheese on the potato. Okay, no worries. They bring me shredded cheese. Paying 55+ for steak you would think they would re do my baked potato. The service lacked. Felt like they werent as well trained.

Each staff member was so lovely, patient and respectful. And the food of course was great! I had a beautiful time with my grandma, thank you so much!

Front desk advised they had no openings at 4pm, and come back at 845pm. 10 minutes later we booked online for 4pm and was seated. Manager and upper mgmnt didnt care. Would never recommend service is rude and ignorant Food : 4/5

We did not have reservation but the staff at the front( manager, hostess etc) were great and in a few mins we were seated for our party of 7. It was my sons 15 birthday. We mentioned to our server that it was his birthday but we did not receive the complimentary cake. We also have 2 lil boys that got kids meals but the server forgot the end of meal desert. Also not sure why every single server had their long hair down! We were all wondering why being in and out of the kitchen, carrying food and drinks why you would not have your hair tied back! A few days ago we were in Niagara to celebrate another birthday and went to The Keg on Victoria. Every server had their hair tied back or up in a bun. Seems petty but who wants hair in their food.

Last time I was at the keg ( apx 8 months ago) had the large prime rib, it was really good. Ordered the same meal tonight (Sept 27th) mediocre at best. As for our server, you need let us get our forks out of our mouths before asking how our meal is....Relax!!!!! The place isnt what it once was.

Arrived later in the evening to sit at the bar for a dinner, only to be joined by the back kitchen staff and multiple other staff that over took the bar and were extremely rude and loud!! Having come here many times and enjoyed dinners at the bar, tonight absolutely was the worse!!! Find a place for the staff to party other than over take the entire bar and carry on like immature people!! Also was disrespectful toward the server regarding food that came out to them. Not nice to see among staff members. Having came here alot in the past Justin should know who I am and might want to deal with this sooner than later!!!

Updated review. We have visited this Keg many times, tonight I was disappointed with the Keg for the first time. We were there for my birthday. I ordered a rib steak, cooked rare. The steak arrived closer to medium, this is the first time in countless trips to a Keg that I have had to return a steak. They got the second one right. Also it was my birthday, which in the past included a piece of Billy Miner pie. Not this time and our waitress knew it was my birthday. I guess things have changed. And one last thing, we ordered a side of mushrooms, a few mushrooms on a plate does not constitute a side. Dont know if we will return to the Keg Peterborough, it has started to slip.

We took my father-in law there for his birthday and they did not disappoint! The service was fantastic, she even did her best to ensure our area was not too loud with the music. Everyone had such a good time and the Billy Miner Pie was a huge hit! Would return to this Keg for sure!

Awesome fresh food. Great options in the menu and kids menu available. Despite the quality and freshness, they still make it pretty fast, which was awesome as I was in a hurry. Great service with a smile. Food was very good and the family liked this location. Parking: Parking for like 100 cars for sure. Lots of open spots when we got there. Kid-friendliness: They were so nice to my son made his the special picky way he likes it.

My son and I stopped in for a late dinner after picking up the family vehicle from the local Mercedes dealership! It was mostly staff off duty at the bar area and a few patrons still in the restaurant. We were greeted by each and every staff member and had an absolutely amazing enjoyable evening. Ive been going to the Keg, Peterborough location, regularly for 6 months and here is what I have observed. -Cleanliness is top-notch. -Food is always on-point. -Never have I seen an employee on thier phones while working. -Atmospehere and clientele are warm. - Trevor knows what I like and orders ahead of time, without my input. -Sequoia is the most boss bartender Ive ever had. She works hard, she works fast, she doesnt mess around, all with a smile on her face.

My son & I were here last night (Sept 14) and the Keg for the most part have the best servers, but last night, we had the MOST AMAZING, WONDERFUL, PERSONABLE, POLITE, PROFESSIONAL young lady Ive ever come upon. I will be requesting her on our return, please never leave. THANKS, goes out to Sarah, you made our dining experience extra special & so very memorable, you are such a sweet young lady, thanks for going above and beyond, I wish you could have sat, chatted & dined with us. I would like to start by saying our service was good, she was friendly. We were extremely disappointed in our food. Our Ceasar salads consisted of old lettuce 4 croutons, no bacon and little parmesan. For $13 I expect better. The blackened chicken wasnt blackened it was just a mediocre chicken, one of our medium steaks was rare, the vegetables appeared to be frozen and recooked, carrots were mush. Only received 3 sauteed mushrooms with our streak. I was disappointed that when the waitress saw our plates with only half the food finished and only one of us wanted a to go container we werent asked if anything was wrong with our meals. We will not be back.

For s chain restaurant, they are able to always do my wifes steak exactly how she likes it as she is quite fussy for a med well leaning slightly more towards the well side. For me, my twice baked potato was only Luke warm, and the server was visibly upset, and the new potato was brought out by the manager who apologized profusely. They offered us a free desert, which was so kind of them. We refused as one we were full, and it was an honest mistake as we have never had a problem before dining here. Service is always great and friendly. Will always come back. Wheelchair accessibility: Only 3-4 spots, which can get taken quite quickly but manageable. I will drop the wife off and find a spot away and with also after diner get the vehicle and pick her up.

Its got to be the best food in town

Great meals as always. The patio in the nice weather is always a good option. Professional service. Storing unused table chairs in the men s restroom was a bit odd. Convenient location. On balance, recommended. Parking: Free convenient parking. No hassle.

From the moment we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff. We sat at a cozy table for two and our server, Jean Paul, was absolutely amazing, witty and fun. We ordered the striploin and it melted in our mouths, it was cooked perfectly! I will definitely come back when I travel this way again.

My wife and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and my in-laws were celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. So we decided to book a table for the 4 of us. When asked if it was a special occasion we explained that it was a double wedding anniversary and we were paying separately. When it came to the Billy Miners pie they only gave one slice for the whole table. The Franchisee said that s just the way it is and if your not happy don t come back.

My husband and I were at the Keg on Jul 12th to celebrate my 70th birthday, our first time visit to eat in. We have bought many family members gift cards over the years. Our son-in law was a guiding light, as to what we should order and I came prepared with everything written down. Our waitress Cara was absolutely incredible, so bubbly, energetic, attentive. Our steak was done to perfection, as we asked, between medium and well, thank you Cara for listening and giving advice when we asked. We are very hesitant about ordering steak out, as we find it hard to compare to ours at home. The Keg did not disappoint, in fact Mike thought it was the best he had ever had in a restaurant, quite a compliment indeed! Cara had a chuckle when I pulled out my birth certificate, to prove it really was my birthday. We had seen the Billy Miner Pie being delivered to other tables, asked for half the regular size and again Cara was so accommodating, thank you. Our evening was absolutely perfect, both food and service. It was an adventure and definitely plan to return.

I m sorry to write this review because I usually love eating here and getting takeout! Unfortunately our takeout was missing several items. I ordered two steaks with mashed potatoes and then extra side of mashed and vegetables (for our toddler). We got one full steak meal (w potatoes), one steak with vegetables and table bread. Meaning we were missing 2 sides of potatoes and 1 side of vegetables. When I called to let them know, I m not sure what I was hoping for but the manager was really unfriendly and I felt like she was accusing me of lying about missing potatoes. She explained my order to me (I knew what I ordered) and told me she could take my information and mail me something? I honestly just didn t appreciate the accusing tone (as if I wanted to be calling about missing potatoes on a Friday evening). She was sarcastic and rude, in my opinion. $88 meal $12 tip (takeout) jokes on me.

Had dinner there last night with my wife. Been probably 15 years since last time at a Keg. Youll not find a better steak anywhere. Chicago rare NY Strip cooked to perfection. Our young server Krista was wonderful. Very friendly, great communication and knowledge of the menu as well as prompt and courteous service. Thanks Keg for a nice evening.

Awesome food great service

We were at the Keg to celebrate my fiances birthday with friends, and there was no disappointment with our total experience. It started off even before we were seated. I made a reservation online for four people, and at the last minute, we had a family member join us for dinner, so when we arrived, it was now seating for five. The hostesses were very pleasant and understanding. They made all efforts to make this right for me promptly. We only waited less then 10 minutes to be seated, which is very good I think considering it was a mistake on my end and it was Friday night, which Im sure is a busy night usually. Once seated, we were promptly greeted by our waitress for the night, i think her name was Chloe. She was so friendly and energetic. She was very genuine in her desire to make our night a celebration and wonderful evening. Our drink orders were taken quickly and without delay arrived at our table along with waters for us all which was Chloes idea and we all appreciated the suggestion. Food orders were then placed, all food arrived in timely mannar with starters and apps arriving first and plenty of time to finish them, table cleared before entrees arrived. Our food looked great, and a couple of extra requests for sauce and Horseradish were filled immediately. Meals tasted excellent. After diner, a desert was offered as a birthday celebration from the Keg, and we all shared it at the table since we were all quite full after the large meal we all had. Overall, this was a great evening,I highly recommend the Keg Peterborough for dinner or a celebration for a special event.

Well it seems there is no such thing as keg size any more. I had a surprise bday party at the Peterborough location. Many of my family members came from as far away as 240 kilometers. The food was nothing like the food at the airport location I remembered and it was not cooked as I remembered, not even close. Small portion size, potato was as small as my fist. The saving grace was the service and staff. They hit a grand slam. The staff made it a wonderful experience.

3 of us stopped in for supper. We have not been to a Keg since before Covid. All 3 of us ordered the prime rib dinner and what a meal. The salads were fresh and delicious. The prime rib was cooked to perfection. The waiter was very attentive and ensured we had a wonderful evening. It was everything we expected from The Keg and more.

Service and food were both excellent. We had ordered tea and coffee at the end which never arrived however they celebrated our anniversary by giving a complimentary piece of ice cream cake sized for 2 - was amazing and such a huge serving that we couldnt finish it.

I really like the atmosphere at the KEG in Peterborough. The food was great and well prepared, but above all.my hat of to the greatest server CHRISTINE. I hope she gets to see this. She isefficient, helpful and very sweet and friendly.

Great ambiance, excellent food, service is amazing.

We made a reservation on OpenTable for 4:45, we arrived and we offered a booth/high top table in a row of three. We opted for the middle unit which was near the servers station. Our server was ok, she only checked in once, when the food was brought to the table asking how everything was with barely a bite consumed. She didnt interact with us for the rest of the meal, until the plates were finished which is unfortunate. The servers attitude got very chipper when she read the tip left for her service. Now, we know we should not reward bad/poor service, but the proteins were excellent, sides were underwhelming. We have to caution diners that if you are seated in this area be prepared to hear all about the servers plans, drinking habits, their service experience at other establishments, as well as a subscription service to wine somewhere. Again be warned, the social plans and less than professional language were the primary focus/content at the Server station at a loud conversational level. The movie ,Waiting... came to mind several times. IYKYK Overall the meat was great, but the side dishes, atmosphere and service was lack luster for the expectations of the Keg. By the way we tried to leave feedback using the Kegs QR code that comes with the check, and that link led to a lovely picture with no functioning links to give feedback from our experience.

I hate to give the Keg a five out of five review but they left me no choice. We had no reservation and they said it would be 30-40 minute wait for a table and sat us at the bar. After 10 minutes they had a table ready for us. Steaks were cooked to perfection with some veggies at the side (better than I remember). I like that they serve bread at the start, although the butter was garlic? flavour and not as nice as their regular butter. We were celebrating a birthday so they comped us a slice of cake, which is really nice gesture give the price of everything else. Probably my favourite part of the experience. My main complaint is that our water wasn t filled quick enough. This was likely partly because we were sitting around the corner from where our server had all her tables so maybe they need to split who handles what tables better. Also their steak knives were dulllll and they weren t real steak knives because they were non-serrated. A steak house should have serrated steak knives.

Manager forced me and my service dog to leave by insisting my dog be on the floor. She is a medical service dog and is only an 8 lb Papillion, not within my reach and at risk in the floor. If I could afford a lawyer I would sue for my human rights violation. Head office never even responded to my complaint.

The Keg has been a favorite for almost 50 years.

It was pricey! Yikes! However, the filet Mignon was cooked exactly how I had asked and the Blackened chicken with garlic potatoes was also amazing. Not much atmosphere because of how the booths are arranged. It was nice inside. Where I was sitting it reminded me of Yellowstone. Its not an everyday restaurant but it was worth experiencing it.

The service was absolutely amazing!!!! The food was ok. Seats are very cramped. The lighting is very dark like they dont want you to see what you are eating. Personally do not understand why such an expensive restaurant is so popular. Food

I have a severe anaphylactic tree nut and peanut allergy as well as a tomato allergy, they took my allergies more seriously then any restaurant I have ever been to. Marcus the manager came out on several occasions to let me know how they were monitoring my meal to ensure my safety. I can honestly say it s one of the first times I ve eaten at a restaurant and not feared for my life. Having an anaphylaxis reaction creates almost a trauma response where you re scared to eat new foods! This didn t happen because I could see how much time and effort the team put in to making sure I was safe! 10/10 in my books! We will be back! Our server was amazing too! Very grateful for her diligence in getting everything right and in a timely manner!

Went for my birthday, and treated wonderful!

First time visiting, was really surprised at how poor the steaks were. They claim they are Prime Rib but there was nothing prime about that. You can tell they are cheap Sobey steaks. Low rack kind of stuff. Fatty and full of tons of gristle. Others in the reviews have stated this too which leads me to believe they are claiming to give a prime rib but you actually getting something that is the lowest level steak they can buy at wholesale. Then on top they are charging $52 for an 18oz or $41 for 10oz. No veggies at all. That is way overpriced. For that price I expected a really good steak and some veg but ended up with a bad steak, and no veg. The best steak on their menu was no better than a low-par one you could get from any grocery store in the frozen isle. Our bill came to $117 for two 18 oz steaks, 2 baked potatoes. Yes you heard that right. Better to go to another restaurant. I wont be coming back. Only upside was the waiter was pleasant and the place looks nice, but it should when you are charging people $50 a plate. The place is overrated. Youd be better of going to one of the other restaurants in town that are half the price and provide better quality steaks.

My fiancé and I had our first ever dinner at the Keg this evening (Feb 10th 24) We enjoyed a super wonderful date night with the kindest waitress and a incredible meal. It was very busy and got served super fast. 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

We opted to have our Christmas dinner at the keg in Peterborough. We ordered the Oscar Sirloin. The Steak was tough even for the steak knife we had the shrimps we so small and the scallops were cold and and they were tasteless. Management was no help in this matter couldnt; care less. As senior citizens the $141 plus tip to the waitress was outstanding and she seemed more concerned that meant a lot to us. On a scale of 1 to 10 the keg deserves a 2

We were at your establishment on December 23rd for a birthday dinner. Sarah was our waitress and was totally amazing!!! She made our dining experience 100 percent perfect. Weve never had a better one anywhere else and we all agree. To be honest we were totally in awe of her. Thank you Sarah. With sincere appreciation. We hope to see you again.

We have visited The Keg numerous times since we moved to Peterborough several years ago. Last night we had a reservation for 7 pm. Shortly after we arrived we were shown to our table and a server took our drink orders - a martini for myself and an ice tea for my wife. When my wifes drink arrived the server told me that my martini was coming. Our server returned a little while later to take our food orders and again told me my martini was coming. After a while our server returned to tell me that they could not make my martini as they had run out of martini glasses! I then told the server to forget about it. After that a manager type person showed up to tell me how sorry she was and she could personally try to get me my martini. Since almost half an hour had passed I declined the offer as I like to have my cocktail prior to eating dinner and not whilst eating dinner, since the food was likely to arrive any minute. Both my wife and I were rather upset by this whole episode and we decided to leave without having had dinner. We went to another restauarant where they did have martini glasses and where, although a little more expensive than The Keg, we had a lovely steak dinner. Needless to say, we will not be visiting The Keg any time soon!

First time back to the Keg in 25 years, I won t be back. Bland flavourless vegetables were cold, garlic mashed potatoes were cold and had the consistency of glue. The lentil meatloaf was served hot but all I could taste was BBQ sauce, a little goes a long way, my wife s baked potato was probably cooked about three times before they served it to her, it was so dried out and hard that no amount of sour cream could make it palatable. The other couple had prime rib and filet mignon and the cooks missed their temperatures completely, both cuts were way over cooked. The appetizers were mushrooms Neptune and a mushroom Gruyère dip which both tasted like nothing g but cream cheese. Terrible overpriced food makes me wonder why it s as popular as it is

The Keg has consistent good quality food. While traveling on business a Keg in the city you know you will get a good meal. Being in the hospitality business for 25 years you appreciate good consistent food. When I am on business travel good food is only one consideration when choosing a restaurant. When visiting Peterborough I only visit the Keg. Not just for the food but more so for the exceptional service. I dine at the bar and am fortunate to be served by what I consider one of the most personal servers I have experienced. It doesn t matter if I have not been at the location for a month my server Sequoia picks up our conversation right where we left off from my last visit. She has such a warm, welcoming personality that make you look forward to returning. Because of Sequoia I would not consider any other restaurant while on business in Peterborough. Fantastic food

Great food, but not sure its worth the price. We also asked to substitute the meat on one of their specials and were told that wasnt a problem but when we got the bill it rung up as a different meals (with a topper) which cost more than we had budgeted for.

Great food. Very noisy inside.

Went here on a Tuesday for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a beautiful table. Our server was fantastic and our meal was delicious. Everything from being seated to paying the bill was done with class.

They were out of Prime Rib at 7pm. Other than that the dinner was fantastic.

Another spectacular dining experience at The Keg. Excellent service, and delicious meals for all. Complimentary dessert for the member of our party celebrating a birthday was a nice touch. The Keg has by far the best steak around. Had the striploin, absolutely scrumptious and tender, tender, tender! It is expensive but you get what you pay for! Service is always exceptional and atmosphere is very relaxing.

My wife and I had dinner there for a pre concert and anniversary celebration. Everything was great. The staff were awesome and so friendly. All of them. Nice to see so many employees happy at their jobs. Not our first time there, and I will definitely go back.

The service was amazing. The food was okay. actually the food was nice. but not for my taste.

The keg is an amazingly high class calibre restaurant in a comfortable atmosphere. You can dress up, or dress decently casual. Most servers have hustle yet are perfectly gracious and courteous. The food is made perfectly to your tastes, and well worth the money.

We had a reservation for 5:15pm Nov 18 we were in our way there and would have been early but got a call to pick up our daughter from a birthday party we rushed to get her and bring her home, feed her quickly and then rushed back for our reservation, we walked into the Keg exactly at 5:30 (15 min late). I went straight to the hostess apologized that we were late, quickly told them why and she conferred with the other hostess for a couple minutes to then tell us that they only had a 15 minute grace period on being late and we were out of luck. We were 15 min late, by the time I left it was 18 min past our reservation. We didn t get the 15 min grace period or we would have enjoyed our dinner at The Keg for my birthday. So don t be late because you won t be seated and they ll be rude to you about it as well.

We were here to celebrate a birthday, and showed up about 20 minutes before our reservation. It was busy, and we expected to wait for a while, but the manager noticed the 2 kids and entertained them for a few minutes, and got us a table right away. The steak was good, and cooked exactly as requested. Creme Brulee was delicious. The service was awesome, and the staff were not just friendly, they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

It has become quite expensive since Covid. But after you get over the virus price shock, the food and the employees are amazing.
