Every time I come to Peterborough this is where I eat dinner. If you ate here with your eyes closed, you d think you re at a pretentious Toronto restaurant. So divine. So fresh. But here are perfectly unpretentious and authentic tapas, served by wonderful warm people and reasonably priced, worthy in every way. Worth a trip to Peterborough! Bravo! A remarkable hidden gem in Peterborough - unlike anything else in the city, in every way. Beautiful food and really genuine service, even if at times it was a little shambolic; truly charming. Plate after plate was exceptional and the patio was a perfect setting. I ll be eating here regularly.

Terrific post Trent Convocation family dinner (23 to 80 years). Sharing small plates is a perfect way to make sure everyone enjoys. Staff were fabulously attentive despite juggling a patio filled w guests and having the front room exclusively made our dinner special. Special shout out the lamb and asparagus were so so good. We went for my boyfriends birthday. The food was amazing and the service was above and beyond. Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian dishes on the menu Dietary restrictions: I dont have any, however the server asked if we had any allergies or sensitivity to gluten before bringing out our dishes that I assume might possibly have it. They were very accommodating even without having to say.

Excellent restaurant. Portions are modest which is fine with me. The quality of the food is fantastic. The staff is very pleasant.

I would rate 6 if I could. The service was outstanding. We came with a big group of 10 adults and 7 children. Our server handled everything very quickly: arranged seating, suggested us to share meals, picked dishes for us etc. Later through the night he kept kids busy with some puzzles to solve to get free deserts. Food was very delicious.

We had a fantastic experience with a group of six. In total, we shared nine dishes between us. Each one was prepared in-house with the freshest ingredients. The attention to detail added to the experience, whether it was the crusty bread with olive oil with the salads or the changing of the plates from warm to cold to match the food arriving at the table, making for outstanding service. I had the Kawartha Salad and the Moroccan Chicken, which were both flavourful and delectable. The sangria was also great and I shared in three bottles of Spanish red wine at the table. The almond cake was sampled at the end, to cap off our meal. The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful throughout the evening. My only, very small, criticism was that the building temperature was a bit cool in our section and so it was nice to wear a sweater in the winter. Next time, I promise to take pictures. Looking forward to trying the new winter menu! Vegetarian options: The menu has vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian options. Dietary restrictions: The kitchen fully accommodated my dietary restriction to seafood and even inquired about gluten sensitivities before the order went in. Parking: Street parking is available on both sides of the street or along Hunter. During the day, it is paid street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: This building is not accessible for wheelchairs. There are steps leading in and steps to different areas with tables in the restaurant. There are no automatic doors.

Best Spanish restaurant that I have been to outside of Spain. Finally a true representation of what Spanish food is all about. Fresh Dreams is an absolute gem of a Spanish tapas restaurant located in the quaint town of Peterborough, Ontario (Its so good we might drive from Toronto to Peterborough just for this place). From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with exceptional service that made the entire dining experience unforgettable. The menu offers a delightful variety of authentic delicious Spanish dishes, each bursting with flavor and presented beautifully. What stood out the most was the evident passion and care the owners have for their patrons and establishment. Fresh Dreams is a must-visit for anyone craving a true taste of Spain. An absolute top-notch dining experience that goes beyond just eating out! Nothing pretentious, just phenomenal people serving outstanding food.

I wish I could give this place 100 stars. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. The food is amazing and exactly how it is in Spain. If you havent had the pleasure to visit fresh dreams yet, get there asap. I highly recommend trying the paella! Edited to add that the scallops are also a must have. Every visit we find something else to fall in love with. Dietary restrictions: One of our party members is celiac and the accommodations for this were above and beyond our expectations!

Fantastic find in Peterborough. Small and charming restaurant, great atmosphere. Very attentive service from the moment you walk in, to the very end. Is a spanishTapas sharing menu where we had the grilled artichokes with a fresh lemon flavour, grilled roasted red peppers stuff with cheddar cheese. Both a really good start. We then had the morrocan chicken and steamed octopus. Soooo good. The fresh bread was great for sopping up and cleaning your plate. We were too full for dessert but will try next time. I ve been to this restaurant twice and both times the meals have been incredible. Hats off to the host and chef, I apologize for not knowing their names but they were lovely and very accommodating. This an amazing family run restaurant and they really but the culinary love they have into their food. The squid was amazing as well as the patatas bravado. Pro tip sit on the couches in the winter, they will definitely keep you warm and toasty!

I recently had my 22nd birthday dinner at Fresh Dreams. The owners opened the restaurant on a Sunday, even though they re normally closed on that day, and provided us with the most amazing dinner and service. The most standout dishes for me were the artichokes and the stuffed peppers but all the food was marvelous. The chef is truly outstanding. Arvelo was a godsend in terms of planning and executing the dinner. A budget was set and he was able to accommodate it. I am disappointed I didn t get enough photos of the food but I cannot wait to visit the restaurant again.

Heaven on a plate! We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with our family and the food was exceptional. The owner helped us to choose dishes from the menu as we had never ordered tapas before and each order was divine. Despite the cosy, rustic atmosphere, the quality of the meals, cooked to perfection, felt as if we were in a high end Spanish restaurant. Bravo to the Chef! Wow! This was a great dinner and wonderful experience. Dined here a few weeks ago and entered feeling very welcomed, the whole experience made it feel homey with the atmosphere and food. The service here was like no other, made us feel valued and was very helpful when deciding what to eat. I recommend everyone should try everything on the menu. All of the food was delicious, no matter what you order I can assure you will be more then satisfied. Overall the service and food exceeded expectations far above beyond what I could ve imagined. We are extremely excited to introduce more friends and family to this amazing place and we look forward to dining here again. It is safe to say this is the best restaurant in Peterborough.

Absolutely an incredible restaurant in Peterborough. Your tastebuds will thank you for going to dinner here. We ordered Cesar salad, paella and Moroccan Chicken. Each dish was wonderful, freshly prepared and so tasteful. The chef visited our table and recommended we try potatoes instead of rice with the chicken. The potatoes were perfect as we had lots of rice with the paella. Service was wonderful as well. This is the best meal in a very long time. Thank you. February update Beyond amazing. This is by far the best restaurant in Peterborough and is better than fine dining in Toronto or Montreal. Service is wonderful. One of the owners is usually in the dining area and provides fantastic service including recommendations. His wife is the chef and does an incredible job. Worth the drive if you are in the Kawarthas or Oshawa area.

Amazing food and even better service (if that is possible)! From the salad to the veggie dishes to the meat plates, everything that we ate was delicious! Excellent flavour and melt-in-your-mouth texture. The waiters were friendly and knowledgeable and even wearing masks (which we appreciated). They provided advice about how much and what to order, and then treated us to strawberries & cream, after-dinner drinks and a fresh rose. (I regret not taking pictures because the food was a treat for the eyes as well.) Well be back to try the quaint patio in warmer weather. (Reservation was made via text, and we were able to pay with credit card (some notes said it was cash only). A wonderful way to spend an evening!! Vegetarian options: Clear labeling of vegetarian and vegan options. Lots of variety, and all delicious! Dietary restrictions: Waiters took note of allergies and asked if anything needed to be gluten-free (it didnt).

This has to be one of the best restaurants I ve ever visited. I came with a bridal party and this was an experience like none other! This unassuming corner resto is tucked away in the heart of downtown Peterborough and took us nearly two years to discover. Family owned, these gracious hosts are attentive yet inconspicuous. Dine on the patio or inside. Our date night could not have been a more enjoyable experience. Paella can be ordered on Wednesday or Saturday or in advance any other day. Do have the East Coast oysters and a pitcher of the sangria and leave the car at home.

First time trying Fresh Dreams after hearing lots of good things and it did not disappoint!! Food was amazing and the service was great. We will be back for sure!

Wonderful experience! We started with the provolone and tomatoes...gooey goodness! We shared the lamb chops. There was a green sauce on the side that was absolutely delicious...a little mint and a little spice. Fun! We also shared the meatballs...also amazing! The chef came out to check on our meals. This is definitely my favourite restaurant in Peterborough. From the moment you walk in, the warm and intimate atmosphere feels comfortable like visiting a friend s home. We did not have a reservation, so we had to wait 30 minutes for a table; in the future we will definitely make arrangements beforehand. The owner is truly passionate, and ensured that our service was fantastic. He gave us recommendations on the menu, which had dishes for all tastes be it adventurous or not. The menu changes seasonally, and dishes are small and served one after the other. We were well taken care of at every moment, and servers were diligent, attentive, and kind. We were given bread and olives as appetizers, and ordered oyster mushrooms, a herb and dill salmon, and chicken. The mushrooms were simple, but the main dishes were fantastic, and I recommend the salmon. After dinner the owner offered us a digestif and strawberries. I would describe it as a higher end dining experience, but the prices are very reasonable, and it is well worth it. I cannot recommend going enough! I hope to be back to experience the new winter menu.

A hidden gem in Peterborough, literally everything we tried on the menu was AWESOME. Artichoke and red pepper cheddar tapas, the chicken and the salmon ceviche. Lots of attention is given to the clients by the owner, a fantastic person and chef. You can taste the passion in her food, you rarely see this in a restaurant. If you have not tried Fresh Dreams yet and want a great experience, dont hesitate one second. We are looking forward to going back again soon

I dont know who gave this restaurant 5 stars?!? Im just shocked! My husband and I recently had a terrible experience visiting this place. It was my birthday and it was ruined! We waited a very long time for our order! As a result, they brought us an overcooked octopus, it was like rubber! I, of course, refused it. And my husband, after undercooked lamb, had diarrhea for 3 days! The waiter is kind of nervous, preoccupied, running around the restaurant like he s been stung! The dishes are small, expensive, they don t give any vegetables or side dishes with the meat, they have to be ordered separately. The cocktails are not tasty. In short, I would not recommend this place to anyone!!!

There is a reason that this restaurant has so many great reviews...I organized a graduation celebration for my sister here and everything from the communication, organization, service and food was ABOVE and BEYOND. This husband wife and son team blew our family out of the water with their knowledge and incredible service. The paella was probably my favorite, but I loved everything from the asparagus, focaccia bread, peameal bacon, potatoes, stuffed sweet peppers and cake. Stop reading the reviews and go experience this restaurant for yourself. You wont be disappointed.

Absolutely fantastic experience. We were in Peterborough for an overnight stay and saw there was a Spanish restaurant. We booked our reservation and off we went. We have 2 boys, 8 and 11 and kids are more than welcome, was provided with colouring books upon arrival. We ordered 5 dishes and how it works, is dishes are brought out one at a time and are shared. That was enough for the four of us. We had the potatoes, meatballs, asparagus, Moroccan chicken, and shrimp. Each course was fantastic, freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients. On top of what we ordered , bread and olive oil was given as a starter. The bread was freshly baked at a local bakery. The service was impeccable, each dish was timed perfectly and tasted amazing. You can tell its all made from scratch. Expect to spend over an hour, and the experience is something we will not soon forget. I would absolutely recommend trying this place out if you are in Peterborough. They dont take credit, so bring cash. I didnt ask about debit.

Best experienced as family style shared dishes. We went with vegetarian friends, and so sampled most of the tapas on the front of the menu. All delicious. Service (by the owner) was informative, friendly, and fun.

I was in Peterborough recently to visit some family and I stumbled across this hidden gem. I honestly have to say I was impressed by everything! The food, the service, the cleanliness the staff even welcomed me too the city. I wish we had a restaurant like this in my home town. Its definitely a 10/10 Restaurant I highly recommend everyone to visit even if youre just in Peterborough for a couple days. Ill definitely be back!

AMAZING!! Oh my god. I m from out of town and saw the amazing reviews and thought I had to try just seeing the high reviews and all, and man was that a great decision. I know they don t have a menu online, it s because they change it so often because the ingredients they use are so fresh! I came just before they were opening for the evening and I felt bad but I just finished a long day at work and just wanted food before going back to my hotel so I walked in and they were so welcoming and sweet. I had to wait for the food because she was just prepping and making it. They were so welcoming and sweet and they gave me a small sample of the food I was ordering and I m just drooling!! I enjoyed a glass of wine while I waited. Amazing. The chef knew I was waiting and she showed me my dish (pic) before she packed it away for me. I wish I lived closer so I could come here all the time. Perfection! Thank you for your kindness and hospitality, I look forward to coming back here in the future! The kawartha salad, gratin sweet peppers, patatas bravas, moroccan chicken, and the spaniah meatballs are to die for! This was some of the best food Ive had in a while. Highly recommend - you get what you pay for so it doesnt come cheap, but its so worth it. The staff were SO friendly and our waiter (who was maybe the manager/owner?) gave the ladies some flowers on our way out. Just above and beyond service, made sure we were well taken care of and made our experience that much more enjoyable. If you havent tried this restaurant yet, you definitely should!

Absolutely spectacular dining experience! Visited on a Saturday night with my sister. She loved the Happy Sangria and had one for both of us LOL We had tapas, splitting 3 dishes and dessert. They oeuvre is a bowl of delicious green olives, and there is also a beautiful Calabrese bread served with fresh olive oil. The artichokes were just scrumptious, and the potatoes brought crispy-goodness to new levels. Now lets talk about the paella... OMG it was just out-of-this-world flavourful!!! We finished with the brownie and ice cream, which was served warm and simply magnificent. Service was impeccable, and the feeling of hospitality combined with unique ambiance of outdoor patio, made this an incredible and memorable evening.

What a find! The food was fantastic, but it was the service that took the experience to the next level. We didn t catch his name, but the owner was our waiter and went above and beyond!! The paella was a standout, the patatas bravas were perfection, and everything else we ordered was just as tasty. All the dishes came out at the perfect temperature, made to order. If it were possible to leave more than 5 stars, I would! Not only is the food incredibly fresh, delicious and authentic but the service is absolutely top-notch. We went for a last-minute birthday dinner and the team went above and beyond to make it a super special evening, despite the short notice. We will definitely be coming back here whenever we re in Peterborough. Highly, highly recommended!

Having recently traveled this part of Europe, my wife and I were blown away with the authenticity of this restaurant. To have this experience so close by in Peterborough is a blessing.

First time visiting Peterborough and decided to go to Fresh Dreams. Food was very good and filling. Service was amazing. They dont accept payment by card, so make sure to bring cash or be ready to pay via e-transfer.

Over the top experience and delicious food. I thought we had tried all Peterborough had to offer, but then found this gem. Truly authentic Spanish cuisine thats been adapted to Canadian culture and food availability. The staff were amazing and explained the different options and suggested items we wouldnt have necessarily tried but were so happy to have experienced. They were so kind to make sure everyone at the table was happy and no one left unsatisfied. Our daughter can be a picky eater for new things, but they were very good to her! Cant wait to come back for another special night. Vegetarian options: Very healthy options, local quality produce and good vegan/vegetarian options clearly indicated on the menu Kid-friendliness: While not a kid menu restaurant, they were so accommodating to a child at our table to appease her tastes!

What a fantastic little spot! My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed! The food was delicious and the service impeccable. The waiter even ran out of the restaurant when we were leaving to give me some flowers. I have eaten in a lot of restaurants and this is definitely one of the best!

My husband brought me here for supper and it was the best food we ve had in a long time ! (Besides mamas of course) we very much enjoyed the artichokes, mushrooms, octopus and scallops. I had an amazing surprise 30th birthday here! We had a large table and the staff took extra care of us. Food was amazing! Wine was wonderful and the sangria was top notch. They allowed us to stay there as long as we wanted and all the ladies left with red roses. I would suggest this restaurant to anyone!!

This has got to be one of the best restaurants weve ever been to! Food was delicious! Even the olives from Spain for appetizers were unbelievably good. Alvaro and Monica treated us like we were guests in their home. We talked about Spanish culture and history. Super nice people. And they helped us decide how much to order. They actually opened early for us because we couldnt make it for their normal opening time. There should be a 6-star category for restaurants and owners like this! Thank you Monica and Alvaro!

The name says it all. The food is fresh and amazingly done and youll dream of the next time you can come back. The service is on another level and youre treated like family from the moment you walk in. I cant wait to come back when the weather is a bit nicer to enjoy the patio, some top notch food, and a bottle of rioja.

Service is always attentive, Alvaro is an impeccable host. Food is delicious, and as a pair of vegetarians always struggling with dietary restrictions, the chef is accommodating and the food is always delicious.

I m really just taken back by this place .it was so incredible, it s not just a meal but an event. Family run restaurant that absolutely nails it! From the front of the house to the kitchen .perfection. I honestly can t recall ever having such a wonderful experience dining out. Everything we tried we loved, the service was second to none. Authentic Spanish cuisine at its finest. Some ppl, I see, complained that the portions were to small it s tapas, order more .the serving sizes were exactly what they should be at the cost. We will be returning without a shadow of a doubt just moved to PBO and can t wait to show this place off to our visiting friends. So far the best place in town and it will be very very tough to beat. Hats off to the family that runs this restaurant, absolute perfection.

This was probably the best service I have ever received. We came here after a camping trip, and they were so hospitable. It smelled amazing, the design was amazing, and the food was out of this world. We met the chef and they even shared several add ons on the house!

Visited on our way back from a camping trip. The patio is fantastic and the family is so kind. Not to mention the food - tapas style, all so flavourful. Would recommend to anyone stopping by, it was so much fun!

Amazing food and service!

Staff were great - food was amazing. Three gluten free people, they accommodated everything very good. We had scalllops, peppers, salmon and olives - 100% would go again! The after food drinks were also great :)

Absolutely incredible food and service. I cannot say enough good things!

Delicious food, fun and friendly service, relaxed and rustic atmosphere. We had cubes of peameal bacon in an herbed tomato sauce, Paella (super fresh and absolutely superb, only available Wed and Sat), perfectly grilled lamb with a fantastic slightly spicy pinenut mint chutney, and perfectly pan fried scallops. Thoroughly enjoyed - and the happy sangria was without a doubt happy.

We had a lovely meal here for a friends birthday. They were generous and welcoming. The food was great!

My boyfriend and I had my birthday dinner here on the lovely patio. Great service, and some of the most amazing food we have ever had. The lamb chops are out of this world, and their beef meatballs (sourced locally and served in a sauce made with local beer!) were life changing. Great drinks too :) Cant wait to come here again!

Great food! Nice people! Ordered almost everything from the sea menu and it was delicious, well seasoned never overcooked and so fresh. Will definitely recommend to my family and friends!

Spanish tapas with a great patio.

Amazing food and unparalleled service! The new patio is lovely and the owners really go out of their way to make the experience extra special- even coming to chop more fresh greens from the garden a few feet from our table, and providing extra touches like candles to keep away mosquitos and free aperitifs. It felt like we were away on vacation for an evening. Highly recommend checking them out!

Love this restaurant. Excellent food and hospitality.

The service is best there is and food is to die for!!! They accepted to let us in though we showed up late. The chef was super nice to our kids, she came in person to give them some puzzles to solve and they earned a free dessert. She also took their customized orders and made them funny face on plate with the food.

What a wonderful, surprising experience. Made a reservation for 3 based on the advice of a friend and didnt really know what we were walking into. Love that its in a house on the edge of downtown, and everything is a casual experience. I believe its run by a couple (he serves, she cooks) as they were the only two people we saw the whole evening. Both stopped by our table multiple times to ensure we were enjoying our meal. Not too keen on fish, we tried probably almost everything else on the menu with a few recommendations from them. Nothing was bad, and several items were exceptional. Just a lovely evening in general. Highly recommend.

Best dining experience I ve had in Peterborough!! The food was incredible, the tapas were better than restaurants I ve eaten at in Barcelona! The atmosphere was fantastic, so intimate and quaint. The staff went above and beyond! Recommendations were perfect, I love to know what menu items are staff favourites and they did not disappoint! If you haven t been here yet, GO! You won t regret it!

The patio was cozy with an island feel to it. Very accommodating, ensuring guests are comfortable...supplying blankets and heaters to stay warm! Each meal was light and refreshing, nicely arranged. Definitely returning!

Location is quaint and quiet and cozy. The food is delicious and shareable with the whole table. But the reason I m leaving this review is because of how awesome the family that owns this place is. Fantastic and healthy meals full of flavor! I was very impressed with the online menu where it talked about the health benefits of each meal! Prices were great, gluten free options, friendly customer service, very clean and inviting restaurant with a beautiful patio! This restaurant is also kid friendly and even offered freezies on a hot day! I would give them 10 stars if I could!

Fresh Dreams is the cutest little family business restaurant. The food is to die for. The lamb chops are absolutely delicious and the squid was delightful. Their appetizers such as Patatas Bravas and Asparagus are amazing too. Highly recommended. Service is very personable and sweet. You will feel right at home.

Fabulous food, service was beyond great. We did not realize they do not take credit or debit cards - it was on a sign when we arrived. I wish this was on their website. Also, most days you must pre-order if you want paella. This is still by far the best food and best dining experience in Peterborough and surrounds.

Best place I have visited in Ontario so far. The atmosphere is amazing. Serve by the owners. Very friendly and very dedicated to make you feel at home. The food is unbelievable good. Check is wonderful. The food is So tasty, flavours... you feel like you are into a culinary experience. I totally recommend this restaurant and I will no doubt be back. First time visit. We have been to Spain and this was sooo authentic. Food was first class and the server/owner went above and beyond. All the plates are share plates. We had six plates and nothing was disappointing. Can t say enough. Will definitely be going back and we came from out of town!!!!

Amazing food and presentation. Our waiter gave us good advice on ordering when he felt we ordered too much. Portions are a good size and was one of the best dinners out in a very long time. Peterborough has a gem of a place and looking forward to returning again.
