205 S 18th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103, United States
Known for classic burgers, this American eatery offers sidewalk seating for ample people-watching.
I’ve been here twice only for drinks so I cannot comment on the food. The drinks here are really good, but pricey, which is to be expected for the location and vibe of the restaurant. The service here does not reflect the upscale vibe they are trying to put off. I am a pretty patient person, but we were seated for 30 minutes with plenty of waitresses walking past us, helping tables directly next to us, and making eye contact with us and still no one said a single word to us. It was a weird experience. There’s other places in the city to get 20 dollar drinks that have better service.
We travel around the country for Indian Weddings. As soon as we booked another event in the East Coast, Rouge was the first place on our list to try. I first heard about Rouge in a GQ article. It was titles "20 Burgers you should have before you die". This article is over 10 years old so some of the places have shutdown for various reasons including COVID. I was happy to see Rouge was still open. I would finally get to the the famous ROUGE BURGER! Image a French Onion soup in a burger format. It was good and hit the spot. I am not really into frys but these were really good. Not sure what made them so good, but I couldn't stop eating them. They have a full bar and the drinks were decent. We didn't order it but it seems like the Expresso Martini is very popular. We will definitely come back the next time we are in the area.
Greetings, First, the service and ambience was good, the food was also satisfactory. But what boggled my mind is the canned meat that was used for my nicouise salad. It should've been medium cooked tuna filet. So beware, if you order this salad, it will be just that, a Tuna salad. (Picture of actual meal attached)
If you’re looking for the best place in Philadelphia to unwind with a perfectly crafted cocktail, look no further. I’ve been coming here for years now, and I can’t recommend it enough! Katie, who in my opinion makes the best espresso martinis and cosmopolitans in the entire city, never fails to impress. Every drink she creates is a masterpiece. But it’s not just about the drinks—it’s the people. Getting to see Katie and Cathy on a weekly basis is the highlight of my week. They are always so welcoming and make you feel like you’re part of the family. The atmosphere they create is second to none, making every visit feel special. This spot has become my go-to for a reason: the perfect mix of great drinks, incredible service, and a welcoming/fun vibe. If you’re in Philly, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won’t regret it!
It is one of my favorite places in the city to have a cocktail. The staff is very attentive. The bartenders are always on point, even when it gets busy. It has an upscale vibe and the DJ plays good music on the weekends.
i love coming here any night of the week whether it’s lowkey or a night out. the staff is amazing especially Christ, the hostess that always goes out of his way for everyone. the rouge burger is consistently delicious and the cocktails are great and aesthetically pleasing. good liquor selection.
The rouge burger was amazing and is how I would define what an American burger should taste like. The other meals were okay. I hated the spiced strawberry daiquiri, I think the peppercorns ruined it. The drink cost was way too high for the amount given. The other guests at the bar were obnoxiously loud, so being seated inside was not the best idea. Dogs outside were being given treats and water bowls. Our waiter was nice and the food wait was quick. I liked it for the burger, but I think the portions for the other meals could be bigger.
My friends and I recently visited Rouge Café in Pennsylvania for lunch, and it was a mixed experience. The food was incredible, especially the charcuterie plate with its tantalizing flavors. The avocado toast and salmon toast were also delicious. However, the service definitely needs improvement. Our server forgot about our order and took forever to refill our water. The mimosas were okay, but the bloody Mary fell short. The gelato was decent but not exceptional. With some attention to service, Rouge Café has the potential to be outstanding.
Fun and delicious little spot in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia Pennsylvania! Great drinks and great food!
The blonde bartender is the rudest person I ve ever met in my whole life. We walked in and she immediately made our presence feel unwelcomed and made comments to multiple patrons about us. Will NOT be returning.
The blonde haired waitress was absolutely horrific. I couldn t imagine having a worse experience at a bar. Audibly and visibly making fun of my friends/ mocking everyone. Audibly talking bad about customers and people infront of them. There s are so many other good bars in the city to visit. This simply isn t worth the money.
Disappointed! I ordered the tuna salad for $25. In a place like that, and with that price tag you would think they d serve real tuna fish. But no, it came with canned tuna sprinkled on top. Not even the whole can, just 1/4th of the can. I didn t even eat it just packed it and brought it home, to fix it. If you going to charge premium you should serve premium!
Meh. Go down the block to Parc if you want really good food.
The food is really good and the service is great. The space is small and cramped in the evenings.
We traveled from Conshohocken after a particularly challenging day and arrived just after noon on October 30th. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by the behavior of our waitress, who appeared to lack the necessary knowledge and attentiveness. Additionally, her demeanor was unprofessional, as she came across as condescending and dismissive.
This place was very active for a Wednesday night. Came for after dinner drinks and really enjoyed the espresso martini.
Delicious expresso martinis! Food very tasty! Excellent customer service!
Very professional staff, excellent food and atmosphere with the wall of windows open to Rittenhouse Square.
Always a great time, we love the place. The staff is great
Amazing Great service Food
Rouge is one of our favorite places. We especially love Katie, our bartender. She s fast, friendly, courteous makes a great drink and makes it a really enjoyable experience. We never miss a chance to go see her.
Nice food
This place has had several accounts of women being drugged & the staff and company doing nothing to help these people. Horrible bar
this place is really disgusting and an unsafe environment. Horrible drinks.
Great spot, awesome espresso martini and burger! Wish they had match books
Christ was the best!!! Absolutely fantastic service

good and prompt service, amazing hosts, and great calamari
I dined at Rogue for the first time after hearing so many amazing reviews and I was not disappointed!! The atmosphere is so fun and electric! The staff were exceptionally attentive and friendly, but the food was the star of the show! Every dish I ordered was beautiful and bursting with flavor! Rogue exceeded my expectations in every way and I cannot wait to go back!
Very nice atmosphere and staff. Hostesses very friendly and amazing, especially Erin!
The host Erin was amazing & it s very pretty inside. The food was also really good
Rouge is the crown jewel of Rittenhouse food, drink, and social. The burger is the best in the city and the half roasted chicken is incredible. The real thing that sets it apart from other spots on the square is the staff -- every single person makes you feel welcomed and taken care of. An extra special shout out to Christ for ALWAYS going above and beyond. Id give ten stars if I could.
Rouge is always a great experience! Their host Christ is so welcoming and always makes customers happy
Rouge is my fav spot in Philly - The absolute best staff & atmosphere. Very special shoutout to Christ for always going above & beyond. If there s an award for best host in the city, he wins

I will say the food is amazing here but the service I had was even better! Christ was the best waiter I have ever had! Riley our waitress was fantastic, she was so outgoing and attentive to us! Food was great. Service excellent. Would absolutely come back again!
The atmosphere was amazing, I was assisted by the lovely Erin Mobley who made sure to attend to me and get everything sorted perfect for me. I got the rogue burgers and fries as well as the delicious raspberry sorbet. It was 5 star out of 5 stars experience and I would definitely come back again and recommend this to all of my friends!
amazing food and service!! the roast pork sandwich was so deliciousss would definitely recommend
thurl
The service and food were great!
Food was fabulous! Atmosphere a bit loud but it was a Friday night. Our waitress Riley was awesome! Our drinks were never empty and service was impeccable!
The food here is delicious! If you want to have a wonderful time and excellent service make sure to have Riley has your server, she s the best there is!
Delicious food and even better service! Thank you Riley!!
My favorite place to go in Philly! The host Christ has energy and a personality that makes your day! The food is great and the atmosphere is a vibe definitely recommend coming here
I dined here the other night and upon entering the restaurant my jaw dropped to the floor. The host, Christ, that greeted me was so perfect and mesmerizing. I will be dining here again just for him. Hopefully he gets added to the menu!
My friends and I had a great brunch at Rouge, food was great, vibes were great, and our waiter Marc was excellent! He was so attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. I will definitely be going back!
great spot to meet friends for drinks! the service is great and Christ is always helpful with getting us settled in comfortably!
I absolutely love it here! Excellent customer service and food. No complaints.
I do not just go here for the drinks and food, the team who makes Rouge run are exceptional, and I would like to highlight the front of the house, specifically Christ an angel who is professional and extremely welcoming!
Favorite place to meet up with friends in the city. Christ always takes care of us and makes us feel at home.
Enjoyed a nice dinner here and i wanted to say Chrisy is the reason I will keep returning. He made my experience so great.
a rittenhouse staple! great vibes with even better drinks and staff. if you ever stop by, I hope you are helped out by christ! he is such a kind member of their team and he always goes out of his way to make experiences at rouge smooth and memorable! I would recommend the expresso martini by far.
Tried this place out of curiosity and was not disappointed!! Will absolutely dine here again and tell friends and family!
great atmosphere and space to grab a bit i loved it!
Nice place especially if you enjoy nightlife. They have DJs Wednesday through Sunday, but it s not too loud to hold a conversation. Drinks are great too. The tall blonde is my favorite bartender.
Great place for food, fun and friends. The staff is amazing from Christ at the door to Julie and Kate behind the bar. Really is one of the best places to grab a drink or meal after a long day or week!
Rouge has the best drinks and ambiance in Rittenhouse! And Christ is the most fantastic host!
French fries are amazing. Bar tenders great and friendly. Same for host team. Erin is friendly and helpful.
Great atmosphere! The vibe is very chill and relaxed. Love their brunch. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
Rouge has the best burger in the city. The outdoor seating is perfect for people watching and dining with friends. Service is always friendly, and hospitable!
amazing experience. absolutely returning the host Erin was very friendly
The Food was delicious and the staff was polite especially the hostess.
The staff is very lovely especially that one girl Erin
Wow What a great spot Food
Katie is the best . Place amazing . Food great
Rouge is hands down my favorite bar in Center City! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is always appealing and the staff is fun and kind. Katie is my favorite bartender and has best jokes to make everyone laugh. I highly suggest visiting if you re in downtown Philly!
Kate Bara wonderful asset to your company.
Katie Katie Katie! The best reason to go to Rouge! Amazing bar attender and also one of the sweetest people I know. Friday and Saturday night - rouge is the place to be!
Ive spent many a happy hour and late evening in this amazing place. Katies one of the best bartenders in the biz always nailing my go to drink espresso martini. You can walk in alone and leave with friends you never dreamed youd meet. I always recommend Rouge to out of town coworkers who need a great meal and an adult beverage to dust off the work day.
Katie is the best bartender! Such yummy drinks!
Nothing like a great cheese board and the best Martini s from none other than our bartender Katie!
One time I wrote a such a terrible review about a place, I swore I wouldnt write reviews at all again. But I need some karmic forgiving and I may as well write one about an exceptional experience. I finally got a break from the babies and went out with my girlfriends, for a short( but sweet visit) I always enjoy the food and the atmosphere. But the cocktails and my bartender Kate? It really really made me miss getting out! She had such a good vibe to her. I had such a good time, the best drinks I had in SUCH a long time and Im making it a point to get out more. We will be back to see ya girl!
This is the best espresso martini in the city! Katie the bartender made it completely fresh and I got to watch the fresh pour. Rouge was super clean and also welcoming, 10/10 going back!
Katie is the best!
The bartender, Katie, was the best! She welcomed my friends and I and made us feel at home. From the moment we arrived she was attentive and friendly! Great job!
Rouge is a Rittenhouse Square classic. A great place to see and be seen, can really get popping on the weekends. If you are fortunate enough to get a table, I can personally recommend the burger and the tuna tartar. Katie is one of my favorite bartenders in town.
This place is great but its the amazing service that keeps you coming back! Katie is an amazing bartender highly recommend stopping by for a drink!!
I love this place! And Katie makes it even better with delicious drinks
Have thoroughly enjoyed every meal and drink ( from the best bartender Katie ) each time we have visited Rouge . Highly recommend! Food
Katie is the best!
Came to Rouge for a girls night. Such a nice atmosphere. Food was good. Great music playing all night. Staff was so friendly. Katie was our bartender, and she was amazing. The best espresso martinis in the city!!
Katie makes the best espresso martini in Philly, a must try if in Rittenhouse Square!!!!!!!
Katie is the best!
This place is amazing. Very welcoming, so much fun. Love Katie she s the best bartender there is. Highly recommend.
Katie is great, the service and food as well. Recommended Food
The food and service is incredible, especially the bartender Katie! She is very personable and we always enjoy her company, she is very attentive and she has a great sense of humor.
Katie is the best, amazing service from her! The food and atmosphere were great, will definitely be going back!
Whenever my husband and I are in the city, we make sure to stop in to see Katie, our favorite bartender! Katie is so welcoming and provides great service...and always with a smile!
I highly recommend Rouge for a fun-filled night out w/friends, a date night, or both!! The atmosphere is nice and chill w/great DJ s on the weekends. Above everything, Katie the bartender is what keeps us coming back!! She is by far the best of the best ~ She s the nicest, sweetest & most accommodating bartenders around! She s super funny, always so attentive & makes a mean Expresso Martini!! Whether you re there during happy hour or late-night-hours & Katie s working behind the bar, she ll surely make any drink of choice to perfection & serve it w/her beautiful smile
Love this place! The new executive chef is doing great things. All of the new items added to the menu are delicious. The Rouge burger never disappoints either. The bartenders are top tier and provide excellent service especially Jules, Katie and Nick. They pay attention and care to remember what I drink and prefer. This makes for a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable experience that keeps me returning. Thanks so much!
The Rouge had one of the best burgers Ive had, and a very good lavender drink. The atmosphere was also very nice. Its definitely a returner.
Jules made my birthday truly special. My husband and I popped in for a late night martini after walking the park. She was so very kind and accommodating to us. What a great experience. 10/10 would recommend
Went here with a party for 4 on a Tuesday evening and had a wonderful time. Asked the waiter for espresso martinis with tequila and they came out well. The salmon was delicious!
Came here for drinks before dinner. Great cocktail choices especially their unique, finely executed old schooled s.
Unfortunately I had a terrible experience here. My friend and I went out to grab a drink here. We were both wearing skirts, but nothing crazy short (it s summer, women wear skirts). We took a seat at the bar. About 40 minutes into us being there the security came over and told us a man had been recording us. The security then asked if I could change the way I was sitting/facing. I was sitting with my legs crossed, not inappropriately at all. I immediately started to have a panic attack (what woman wouldn t upon hearing someone was recording her without consent). Security never once confronted the man nor asked him to leave. We had actually spent more than the man (we had two rounds of drinks while he had the same drink the entire time). We left feeling unsafe and uncomfortable. It was not our fault and it sucks that security victim-blamed us and never said anything to the man that was actually doing something wrong. I wouldn t go here if you re a woman concerned about your safety.
My husband and I had a great evening with my sister and brother-in-law this weekend. We had dinner and enjoyed several cocktails. The calamari was delicious and there were plenty of great entres. Our server was friendly and the manager took good care of us. I highly recommend this place if youre looking for a fun and enjoyable evening in the city with a variety of well made cocktails. Well be back!!
Chose to have a late lunch here as it was a beautiful summer day in Philly and I wanted to be outside. What a wonderful experience! Ate outside in a covered area directly across from Rittenhouse Square Park. That alone would have made for a relaxing afternoon, but this is a restaurant review so Im happy to share that the food was delicious. I had the Chicken Caprese Hoagie. It was huge! Had to take half of it back to the hotel (made for a tasty late night snack). Caprese salads and sandwiches can be tricky--here has to be enough cheese (there was) and the tomatoes have to be fresh, (they were), with a dressing that distinct but does not also overwhelm the more subtle flavors of the cheese and tomatoes. Cant tell you how many Italian restaurants (even high end ones) Ive been to that cant make a decent caprese salad or sandwich. Well, Rouge knows how to make one that I can highly recommend. Oh, and the fries were perfect: crispy but not greasy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. Regarding service, it was friendly and attentive. Despite sitting outside I never once had to ask for my water to be refilled. All of the above made for a very filling and satisfying lunch. Highly recommend.
My experience at Rouge was one a kind! Kevin was the best waiter in the world! He was very efficient and kind. The manager tonight was also spectacular - Mike. Thank you guys for a great night! If you re debating on a night at rouge, look no further!
Relax in style with my elite friends at this exclusive bar drinking whiskey. Its really crowded here on Wednesday nights.
Next to Rittenhouse Square. Great spot for a nice meal and good service. We really enjoyed the people watching while getting a feel for Philly! Soo good!
A must go for brunch. Food was delicious!
Love this place. Great food, and great atmosphere. Shoutout to Mike the manager. He took care of me all night. Food
Great experience! We had lunch here, with amazing Nicoise salads + avocado and a XXL portion of fries. Nice service. A little bit expensive, but thats in line with Philly restaurants.
This place is great it s kinda loud though & hard to move around but they really can t make any amendments to change that. Side note that brunette or blonde waiter that s like idk 6 4 is like the finestttt person I ve ever seen in my life. I can t even imagine being that hot. Tell that tree of a man to have the best day. Tbh that tree of a man changed my review from a 4 star to a 5 star. That man is finer than Ryan remolds. Anyhow happy pride y all have a kick a$s$$$ day!!! I did not mean any disrespect by this post I just mean keep killin it y all!! Y all are so great! Thanks for making our friends trip back to Philly your her favorite bar. Thanks!! Your staff is always the absolute nicest.
Genuinely one of the best restaurants in Philly at a very reasonable price point for how phenomenal the food is.
Utterly poor customer service right at the entrance. We walked in and the hostess was busy flirting with some patron there and had us just standing there waiting. Finally she turns to us and tells us oh the kitchen is closed. She couldnt have told us that right when we walked in? The vibe was a bit trashy and the air too stuffy anyway so we went to Parc where we were greeted with a friendly smile and seated immediately and had a nice late night dinner with drinks. Parc knows how to service customers. Rouge? Not really
Rouge on Rittenhouse Square is a Philadelphia classic that s been charming locals and visitors alike for over two decades! With its prime park-side seating and a commitment to quality, it s a spot where the city s heartbeat is palpable. The menu offers a range of tempting dishes, but the Rouge Burger is a standout a mouthwatering must-try that s both large and satisfying. The cocktails are a hit, too, with a variety that ensures there s something for everyone. While some find it a bit on the pricey side, the ambiance and the view make it worth the splurge. It s a place that s perfect for soaking in the atmosphere of one of Philly s most beloved squares. Whether you re there for a casual lunch or a special evening out, Rouge promises an experience that s as vibrant as its name suggests.
I really think the bang isn t worth the buck. I m from nyc so I m no stranger to high prices but I literally just paid $24 for two tacos that were a bite each. The hostess hardly looked at me when I came in and was pretty rude. I m sitting here waiting for my check for like ten minutes with no water. My plate has still not been cleared. I won t be back. Stick with parc, or Rosie s taco bar
Very disappointed at the start by an unpleasant waitress We sat on the terrace like we do in France and we didnt like it at all and since I dont know English its complicated to explain myself and she looked up and made me get up to come and talk to her Fortunately the second waitress was much more cheerful but the first remained pedantic and unpleasant Canned beer for 8 dollars, a can is expensive Otherwise the setting is very nice
Im just giving one star cause i cannot give 0! The atmosphere was good, but never experience that terrible service from the staff, especially from the bartender( a blondie nasty one), non proffessional rude and so miserable! We had to ask to many times for our drinks, not paying attention what we asking for and waiting forever! She had no human common sense, looked she was under drugs even the managment staff was not in level of serving the clients. Never go backkkkk
I was i here with a friend The blond bartender serving last Tuesday I didnt get here name We asked so many time for service She kept ignoring us I have a question for the owner How could u keep a bartender like that in your establishment ? Having the greatest location in Philly U could have the best bartenders that that have a good charm Great customer skills And not to threat customers Brought the attention to the manager about the situation . Woman Manager she was speechless No sorry no nothing just was looking around. Thast is it .
Pretty good food and good service.
I ve always enjoyed going here over the years and realized I never wrote a review. A staple of the Philadelphia restaurant and nightlife scene, this is always the restaurant/lounge that I recommend for anyone coming into town looking for a fun spot for drinks and a bite with a scene. Just stopped in again for a burger and as always, the staff is great and the vibe is enjoyable as always!
I have been here a couple of times, good service, I like the atmosphere, and the brunch menu is okay. Nothing special, maybe the dinner menu is better.
Went to Rouge last night 5/17/24, and Pat was a terrific bartender! Polite, funny, and a great mixologist. Thanks Pat for a great first time experience! Food
We ordered the Eggplant Rigatoni and there was no eggplant. I had one tiny piece. I almost missed it that s how small it was.
Went here for lunch and sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. The caprese sandwich was phenomenal. So simple but they add things to it that gives it sooo much flavor. Would come back specifically for that.
Won t be returning
We went for lunch and loved it we had the smoked salmon on the most delicious bread (could have done with less aioli but it was great), the kale & farro salad as recommended to us by our wonderful waitress & the chicken hoagie. All were great, atmosphere is beautiful and we particularly loved looking at the pretty park across the street. We dined outside with children (though no kids menu, I m lucky my kids found things they like) and it s definitely an even better spot to go to for adults. A little pricier but definitely recommend!
I came here for a last minute birthday reservation, it was delicious! I got the caprese which came with fries and was very filling, i enjoyed it with a dry fizzy rose, known as their roxas. my sister had the salmon toast and hard cider. We also enjoyed an amazing birthday treat- their banana split! it was absolutely delicious, they slightly brown the banana and then add cherries and strawberries with rich vanilla and chocolate ice cream, topped with whipped cream. 10/10 would eat again, this is definitely shareable i ate inside, however the sidewalk dining on a spring or summer evening would make a perfect date, the overall design and ambiance of this place is not to be ignored.
I want to thank Mark for going above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was perfect. Mark s genuine hospitality and impeccable service made all the difference. Mark knew the menu, and offered great recommendations. I ll be back, thanks to him!
don t go if you re a woman, as they have multiple reports of people being roofied here.
I was harassed by a group of guys while I was sitting at my table. I went to the waitress for help and she laughed in my face then proceeded to sit the guys next to our table once we had moved outside for safety! Food and drinks are also overpriced for the quality!
People constantly drugged here and there is no compliance from management.
Wanted to dine in here but was greeted by a rude man on the door that would refuse to ID anyone with an international ID (British driving license). Certainly an interesting way to miss out on tourist trade! Very unfortunate as the images of food looked good
Loved it!
Rude bartender
This place has some very cool employees, the food is great. And the environment is pleasing. Love it, love it, love it
Really amazing avocado toast!
Stopped on our to the theater, I ordered the caprese hoagie and my husband had the kale and Faro salad. The sandwich was excellent, and the salad well balanced.
Stopped in for a quick bite, we managed to get a table, however I think a reservation is best. We had the french onion soup and chicken sandwich both were delicious. Food
Amazing Place for New Years. Atmosphere is the best part about this place. The food is decent. I recommend that you come here. The Brothas who are the bouncers at the front are cool. Thankfully the Atmosphere is amazing it keeps me as a repeat customer.
Ate brunch there today. Nice atmosphere as the snow came down on the city. The food was good too. However, employee dropped cup of ketchup on the floor while cleaning a nearby table and it splashed up on my husband s knit sweater. They offered wet towels, but did not offer to cover a cleaning fee.
Can you play techno/house music please
One of my weekly Goto spots in Rittenhouse!!!!
Great location adjacent to the park. All the toasts were tremendous (avocado, salmon, French)
A friend and I dined at Rouge on a Friday night and we absolutely loved it. We didn t have a reservation so the wait was a little over 1hr which we were fine with because we had no idea how busy the restaurant would be. If you absolutely hate loud and crowded restaurants this is not the place for you! For the volume of the restaurant on a Friday the entire staff was wonderful. The host was an absolute pleasure, he was so polite and attentive. Our sever was incredibly busy, but was vey on top of everything! The manger was also wonderful and very helpful. We really enjoyed our food and drinks, the Tofu Bao Buns are a must try! This is definitely a place I d recommend and I ll definitely be back!
Tasty omelet and salad w/kale,farrow and shrimp. Came for Sunday brunch and didn t have to wait. Also there is outdoor dining overlooking Rittenhouse Square. Staff was nice and decor was elegant French chic
Great food! The carbonation for the soda was out and it unfortunately took three people to understand we didn t want replacement sodas until after it was changed. Otherwise everything was great.
The chicken Cesar salad was delicious and so was the cheese board. We mistakenly ordered the charcuterie meat board at first but Kieran was kind enough to swap it out for the cheese board. Thank you!
Was a fine place for Yuppies, Gen X, Y, Z, Lbgtq & what have you. Not for senor citizens. Too noisy. But the burger was good.
Ive had this place saved for some time to try, but every time Id go to book they never had anything available. It constantly being booked and the high rating convinced me it was worth it to try one day. Its possibly the high hopes I had contributed to my rating, but overall I was disappointed. I know now that it constantly being booked is because the inside is rather small, not necessarily because its that good. The cocktails were well made and very pretty, the atmosphere was cute and themed. The food is the major miss. We got the shoshito peppers, which by themselves were fine, but the dressing or dipping sauce reminded me of spicy thousand island. The chicken sandwich, which we took off half the bread, and the burger. The... Burger... Here is where I felt betrayed. Its highlighted as the best burger in the city, the best burger Ive had and I wonder if these people know what a burger should taste like. The key to cooking is not always all the extras, but simply salt. The burger lacked salt. I ate half as is and half of just the patty. I would more than likely come here for drinks, but only that. My other thought is that people think because something is in Rittenhouse it is going to be amazing, but generally like the people who live there, its more show than substance.
Perfect location just opposite the park. Good food and excellent service. Very busy. We were lucky to have an outside table without waiting. Our waitress Slava was very good. Definitely will go back.
Best French onion soup I ever had! The brunch burgers were amazing!
Went once and it was great. Just went again and waited 45 min for an appetizer that never came. The waitress never came to check on us.
So Ive eaten here a number of times on different days and different times of the day over the past few years, and Ive been impressed every time. This place has a reputation as a people watching venue and an upscale hot spot in Philadelphia but, honestly, its thoroughly enjoyable beyond that or even apart from that. To start, the food is excellent. The burger has a well deserved reputation as one of the best in the Philadelphia area - its simple, but the quality is in the ingredients and the preparation. Their brunch offerings are delectable as well, and nearly everything on their menu is simply executed with a high degree of skill. The ambiance is what brings me back - the people, the decor, the location. There are very establishments outside of New York City on the east coast that give me this vibe, or this feel. They hire a DJ to play eclectic 80s tracks on Sunday mornings during brunch hours! The outdoor seating near Rittenhouse Square affords a placid view and the indoor bar hints at a Parisian brasserie with the well dressed and well accommodated rubbing elbows with the transient tasters-of-the-good-life. It hard to find something this consistently enjoyable in the area, so take advantage of it and enjoy it for what it is.
Took 45 minutes to get served a Caesar salad with no drinks or cutlery. Abysmal. Worst 70 bucks spent.
The manager was incredibly rude; so much so that I was willing to leave but my friend grabbed me and insisted we finish eating. I do not like this place. Its overpriced and bojuee to begin with. The bartenders were sweet and the drinks were ok but I had a terrible experience from the doormen to the manager so much so that it has really soured me on this place.
I was excited to try this place last night since it s always so crowded and I ve heard good things. Sadly, I was disappointed. I ordered the burger and I requested that it be cooked medium well and it was raw on the inside and inedible. I sent it back and asked for it to be well done and it was still raw on the inside. Blood was literally coming out when I cut the burger in half. My friend ordered the half of chicken and it wasn t cooked all the way, unfortunately he s been stomach sick with possible food poisoning since last night. The waitress came over and said that they comped my bill but didn t, and only took off $15 for the inconvenience . A manager never came over to rectify the situation. So disappointed! It s a shame because this restaurant was highly recommended and for the price point and location, there shouldn t be any issues of uncooked food and food Bourne illnesses. I would not recommend and will not return.
Rouge is a phenominal spot for a fun day out for drinks and food. Christ helped me out and was extremelt attentive to my requests. I highly recommend this place and chatting with Christ for any accomodations!
Good food. Eating inside was too loud on a Saturday night.
Very fun atmosphere and excellent music!! Great place to meet folks.
Tuna tacos tasted amazing.
First time here! I like the Drinks and food ! Cheese plate was good , and oysters so delicious!!
This is not a safe bar for women. There is a blonde bartender that worked evening shift this last friday that was EXTREMELY rude. DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Would give it 0 stars if possible.
A lot of hype, and at first I didn t feel like it measured up. However, when I went through all the elements, there is nothing negative to say. Give it a try!
Always a great time. Prompt service, delicious food, tasty cocktails. A must-visit if youre in the Rittenhouse Square area.
Pricey but good. The six other people I was with got the burger and said it was awesome. The Kale & Farro Bowl w/Grilled Salmon was excellent.
Hell yeah
Small, cozy, dimly lighted, somewhat romantic (if with another). The Kale & Farro salad was very nice. Will come again to try the burger. Service polite and quick. Downsides: paid an additional $14 for but three shrimp; because the place is small, and about half of it are people packed on the bar, its noisy; and while kitchen was fast, service felt rushed.
Empty tables and the hostess says we must wait 20 minutes! that! get a grip they have no idea where they are nor comp deal. The doorman asks us for our ID, we are obviously 43 years old. It is better to say they are exclusive I felt xenophobic
My favorite spot to grab drinks at. The expresso martinis are easily the best in the city.
I asked for a plain burger, only cheese, well down, and they brought me a cheeseburger with lettuce tomato and onions. I gently told the server what happened, and he took back, and he came back in two minutes with the burger well down only cheese and NASTY ONION flavor I hate restaurants the they do these they just took back to remove the onions
Went here late-night for cocktails. Just the loved the ambience and lighting. The outdoor was beautiful decorated but they closed early. So we took a table inside and got a pomegranate margarita and a cosmo. Spice level with margarita made it exciting. It was really good. Would definitely recommend this place for their cocktails.
The pommes frites are just frozen shoestring fries. And they were greasy - adding insult to injury. Steak was good. Wouldn t go back, sad to have had my one dinner in Philly here.
The area is ideal because if you sit outside you have a view of the Ritten House Square Park & can take a stroll after dinner. The waiter was nice and the interior was pretty. They plate the food very pretty. Downfall: not many options which is usual/ common for high end restaurants. BUT the food was not worth the $$$. I have eaten at other high end restaurants and at the end was not upset at the bill because the food and waiter was spectacular. The price was a complete turn off due to the food quality not matching the price.
Amazing location and a very nice staff. Food was great too. They have outdoor seating which I would recommend for evening dates.
I have had many great meals at Rouge during it haydays. But now, sadly, Rouge is no better an average NJ diner.
Drinks were pretty good. You can get better food elsewhere for cheaper. Unparalleled people watching.
French fries and martinis are a must!
Food was delicious, from the chicken sandwich to the steak. Service was friendly and helpful, special requests were met with a smile. Cocktails lived up to the menu descriptions, good selection of beers on tap, served cold! Rouge is in an ideal location for shopping before or after a lovely meal.
My friend was roofied here and she was given a hard time from the staff while trying to get footage. Also, last time I ate here the oysters + calamari were trash. Better off spending $$ on good food literally any where else in this area
