The service was good, but food was just okay. The fish was good, fries were okay but the deep fried pickles were $10 and we got 5 very sad greasy pickles. Onion rings were also not good. Saturated with grease and very expensive for a very small amount. Also, we had to pay $5 extra for a tiny container of cole slaw

Food was ok. Better quality and experience at the Scarborough Kingston rd locations. Turn off the phones on busy days like Good Friday. Location is not available for online orders on web site

They do a good job But the fish is getting much smaller by the week. Definitely not as much as it used to be. Not really worth the 20$ a meal any more, I was sure Im being fed batter vs fish here. Tonight the fries were not very appealing. Im disappointed as I would think they are trying to please their customers with half hour old fries then anything. When family wants fish and chips, Ill avoid coming here until further notice.

pre ordered the day before Good Friday. Went to pick it up and they had cancelled they order without notification and told us we would have to get in line to order and it would be about 45 minutes. Horrible customer service. We went to Salt n Malt and had our order in 10 minutes and it was excellent.

The quality of the food here is great. I e have never had a problem ordering take-out here. You are able to eat inside the restaurant, but we have always done takeout. You are also able to purchase some alcoholic drinks and desserts to go as well.

Best fish and chips for a chain. When not busy, the quality is fantastic. I avoid on Good Friday as its a zoo in there and easy to feel lost in the shuffle. Understandable given the day.

Always get our fish and chips fix here. Big portions and they have a good deal on Sundays or Mondays.

Very good fish, comes out very quickly

A little pricey for fish and chips ($25 per person) but the halibut pieces are great (huge piece of tasty fish). It was a tad greasy but overall a good experience.

Staff were great, restaurant was clean but fish and chips tasted like they were cooked in old oil, fish was thin and they didnt make their tartare sauce it was the awful package stuff. If you specialize in fish and chips you should have a house made tartare sauce.

Restaurant was clean, unfortunately thats all I can say. Fish was almost paper thin I was eating all batter. Not sure how you can mess up fries but it was done. I suspect cooking with oil way to long. For the price vs value I would not go again. The prices were pretty high but after you see the uninspiring piece of fish you get it makes you even more annoyed. Its truly shocking places like this are getting repeat business.

Im from out of town . Every time I go to Pickering I always get fish and chips here . The best and not greasy. Parking: Parking in front of the restaurant . Kid-friendliness: Family restaurant . Wheelchair accessibility: I did not see a wheelchair accessible parking spot identified near the restaurant . The accessible spot for the sidewalk is on the main pass thru road which isnt convenient. The motorized accessible door does not work and hasnt as long as Ive gone there .

They fry the pork sausage in the same oil that they fry the fries and fish in. They will not prepare the fish and chips in any separate oil by request.

Just ordered 2 fish and chips, I have to say we were disappointed with the flavor of it all so we put tartar sauce on it and the tartar sauce looked old, jello like not the colour of sauce...we threw out everything and will not be returning.

We tried eating in during Good Friday but it was just packed to the rafters. This is how popular this place is so we came back a few days later. Well, lucky us, we got the special Haddock Fish and Chips for $11, with coleslaw. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked with a good crunchy crust yet sturdy fish, not mushy, inside. The fries were not as crispy as I wanted them to be but some like it that way. The coleslaw was good so I asked the server if I can take home my friends slaw. Quick service from this Filipino server! Everything was perfect: waters refilled, leftovers were bagged, we didnt wait for the bill, and all were done with courtesy, and a friendly smile. The front door, which is a bit heavy, doesnt work very well; the handicap button doesnt work yet the other door doesnt open either. One needs to pull the heavy door to get...cant imagine how someone with a wheelchair can get in. Some plants are dying...This is why I rated 3 on the atmosphere.

Their haddock fish is phenomenal. Perfect fish to batter ratio. Not crazy about their fries. They are a bit pricey... three pieces of fish and one side of fries cost almost $50. Parking: Lots of parking available in the plaza

Fried Halibut ok... ish... tons of breading...small portion of fish... grilled halibut even more boring... garlic butter seasoning non existent... garlic cheese bread boring... chips bland... same with Cole slaw... overall very mediocre for a $150 family takeout meal

Same problem as every other fish and chip joint: portions are too small. The fish pieces are tiny for the price and they dont give many chips. The food quality is excellent. The fish tastes fresh and the batter is crispy and not too oily. The fries are good as well. The staff are amazing, fast and helpful. They never stop moving! Will return for sure but Ill stick to the specials!

We ve been coming here since they ve opened and the food is always consistent! The fish and chips are great and after trying the grilled shrimp, I think that is my new go-to! Excellent customer service as well!

Good deal on most days, friendly staff and on the ball

Family run businesses are the best because they care!!! This place gives you just what you asked for- large portions of fresh food served in a friendly atmosphere. Come see all the families with seniors on Fridays, stay for the onion rings.

Fast and efficient service

Customer service was impeccable here and the restaurant is very clean, but the Cod my friend got was not so great, usually isnt super soggy. Maybe it was made in a rush, fries were ok. The Scarborough location crushed out this one this time. Maybe will have to try again at another time instead of lunch.

This Halibut House has always been my favorite location. They remember faces, the service is on point and the food is delicious! Its worth going back again and again just to enjoy the friendly staff. Parking: Theres plenty of parking and its all accessible.

The fish tasted good, the only thing I found and wasnt happy with was they give you a tiny piece of fish and more batter than anything else. Their food isnt cheap.

Great fish and chips! The halibut here is A+++. It may seem pricey, but if you buy Halibut and prepare it yourself, you will spend close to the same $$$. I ordered for pick-up: It was freshly prepared, with light, crispy and flavourful batter.

I came here for take out on a Friday night, and as expected it was a tad bit busy, which I didnt mind since we knew we were getting freshly fried fish & chips. Super friendly staff, and the service for takeout was SO FAST, history I think it was only about 8min !! Even after sitting in the car for almost 10 minutes it still tasted delicious! The fish has a even coating of batter all around the fish, and they give you a ton of chips with your order. We came here with a coupon for 2 Haddock & Chips for $12 and boy was it a good deal. Next time, I definitely want to try the halibut & cod and see if they just as tasty. I would definitely reccomended trying this place out if youre in the area and are craving some fish and chips They also have a great Sunday & Monday Special which is definitely worth checking out

If you thought the food was expensive from here before, you better just completely pass this one over now. There used to be a good reason to purchase this food at the overpriced price that it used to be. It cant be denied that it is good. But not a disgusting $85 plus tax a family pack good; over $20 more expensive than it used to be. On to the next one. Furthermore the attendants put zero sauces in our bag on what I can only assume against my rightful and valid complaint of the price. Just another cherry on the icing as to why you should avoid here.

Ample parking available near the highway. But closing at 8 pm. Prices looks reasonable though no much healthy options. Though beer was available no fresh juice or sugarless drinks were available. Food were delicious though oily. Calamari, shrimps and salmon were available

Consistently good food is served here and you wont break the bank. We always get the halibut fish and chips with a side order of fries and gravy. Their gravy is really good. Previously I used to always love the gravy from Mary Browns; this is better.

I had Halibut Sunday special With haddock Fish and chips. I had very high hopes and I am sorry but I really didn t like their foods specially their chips. It tasted so bland that I had to season it by myself. I am giving all the stars only for their customer service (not for their foods) because staff were very much friendly.

Looks like this is the BEST of the many many HALIBUT house restaurants that I have visited. Fantastic ambience, owner GERRY, seems to know literally every customer, as always, fabulous food, great Chardonnay wines. Terrific service, warm, welcoming and friendly. Definitely worth visiting again and again.

We shouldnt but we do....indulge in the Wednesday Cod & Chips special. Lots of food thats well cooked that serves both of us. The staff are very pleasant & efficient. The restaurant always seem to be full but you get great serve! I have recommended Halibut House Fish & Chips to my friends & family in the neighbourhood.

Got take out for Mother s Day to make it a treat for my mom this year. The staff were working so hard and doing a great job. Customers were courteous and respecting the new rules. Would recommend this as a safe take out option during covid. Thanks for your hard work halibut house staff!

Friendly staff, clean establishment. Ok so Ive given credit for the good, and i give credit where credits due. ok so now about the food... I dont know if its because its Covid, but the food was dry and gross and expensive. I ordered a halibut and chips with a side of coleslaw. Talk about generic, frozen food section box of Highlander fish (you know the one Im talking about). The fries were greasy and no salt. The coleslaw was...pickled cabbage with vinegar and salt. Disappointing man. Especially after all the good reviews.

The food is great, big portions of fish and fries. However, when I went in, one of the cooks wasnt wearing his mask over his nose while preparing the batter and battering the fish. Wasnt impressed with how little he seemed to care about that.
