I had a very disappointing experience at Dickey s Barbecue Pit in Pickering. To start, the food wasn t even warm when it arrived at our table. The brisket, which I was really looking forward to, had a distinct, unpleasant smell that made it hard to eat. It didn t taste fresh at all, which was a major letdown. For the price they charge, I expected way better quality. The portions were also surprisingly small, making the high prices feel completely unjustified. On top of that, the overall atmosphere was uninviting. The dining area wasn t very clean, and there was an off-putting smell in the air, which only added to the poor dining experience. The staff seemed disengaged and uninterested in providing good service; it felt like they just wanted to get us in and out as quickly as possible. I was really looking forward to trying this place but left feeling completely disappointed. I won t be coming back and can t recommend it to anyone looking for good barbecue.

Maybe you guys shouldn t be going on peoples property leaving your flyers all over peoples cars. We found 7 flyers on our property. 2 per car and one at the front door. SUPER OBNOXIOUS! Don t touch peoples cars!!

Save your money. I wish I had taken a peek at the reviews before ordering then I would have saved my money. Got the brisket and burnt ends and the burnt ends were just 75%fat, so that went in the compost and the brisket was dry and lacked any flavour except salt. Too much salt. The beef rib wasnt as dry but had a sinewy, chewy texture and also completely lacked flavour. But was most definitely salty! Got the potato salad which has a watered down mayonnaise and slight acid flavour that really lingered in a terrible way and the coleslaw was the exact, agressively flavoured, neon green coleslaw you can get at your local KFC. All topped off with a cheap grocery store bun! The fries and onion rings were the only decent part of the meals but those are usually easier to get right. I regret spending money on that meal and encourage others to read some reviews first before ordering.

Ordered from uber eats. Compared to the average BBQ spot this place is low tier. The sauce flavour was decent but the meat was so dry. I got the 3 meat platter and everything tasted overcooked and was so hard to chew due to being dried out. For the sides, I genuinely enjoyed the fries but avoid the mac n cheese! It tasted even worse than those ultra-processed frozen mac and cheese boxes you get from the grocery store. There was literally no flavour, and it tasted like fake food. I wanted to try something new, but I definitely wont order from this place again. Durham has a plethora of way better BBQ spots. Also, this place might fool you with its lower pricing, but the portions are also ridiculously small. The three meat platter was so small, there were only a few tiny cubes of each meat. You could spend an extra few dollars for a decent size of meat somewhere else that tastes better.

Light lunch turned into a BBQ feast! Ordered the brisket sandwich and the wings best of both worlds, and I loved every bite. Heads up, friends: it s going to be a little on the pricy side, but totally worth it for BBQ made fresh with all the sauces (spicy bbq) and flavors. Good quality meat comes at a cost, and it was so worth it! For the times we re in, the price isn t bad at all. I visited this spot today to grab dinner. I would definitely describe myself as an avid barbecue eater and I must say I did really like this spot. I got the burnt ends, Mac and cheese, fries and a drink. My burnt ends were juicy and personally for what I paid I felt that this was a sufficient portion of food. To the comments mentioning the Mac and cheese, yes it is a saucy Mac and cheese which is a lot of people cup of tea not necessarily mine but it still had a good flavour and didn t just taste like cream.

This was our first and last time here. We made the mistake of skipping other places to try this one, and it was a disappointment. The food was bland, tasteless, and the portions were small. It seems the positive reviews might not be trustworthy, as many appear to come from friends and family of the owners. We noticed that the atmosphere was cold, the staff seemed odd, and the experience overall was unpleasant. I won t be returning and would suggest saving your money by going elsewhere. It s frustrating when some franchise owners (African, Arab and Indian franchise owners) cut corners, and I miss the days when local owners prioritized quality. I ve noticed that you should always prepare yourself for being scammed or disappointed anywhere that says Halal or Indian, just speaking from experience!!!

My driving instructor took me to this place and gave me a brisket in a bun and it was delicious. Hopefully we go back for more on the next lesson!!

DO NOT ORDER HERE The portions are small and dry for the price. We got it delivered and they forgot part of our order. I called them to see if they can deliver the missing part of the order and they were not compensating at all and told us to drive all the way back there for the sandwich and wouldn t do anything for their screw up. Horrible service and food isn t even that good. Waste of money.

The people that work here are very nice but if u want food that tastes like puke this is the place for u ! The food (meat) sits in a steam cabinet and is as dry as shoe leather . Good service, but honestly terrible food for the price. I initially wanted to order a slider for $4 to try their meat, but it was bite size (honestly, too small for a child - not sure why they have this on the menu) so I decided to order the brisket sandwich. The brisket was sitting in this steamer cabinet kind of thing, and a small piece was put on this heavily buttered bun. They gave me a slice of cheese which they charged for all. All in all came to around 15$ after taxes for a greasy small sandwich. You can honestly get a lot, and I mean a lot better bbq for the price. I d recommend chain smokers or horn dawgs. They re halal, much larger quantity and very reasonably priced. I haven t tried anything else after that from this store , mainly due to the price which doesn t translate to quantity or quality of food. Honestly not sure where the 5* reviews are coming from.

Very tiny portions, the brisket was 90% fat. The chicken was dry and the turkey wasnt even edible. The sides were mushy garbage. I paid 100$ for sub par food that was so bad i didnt even want to finish it. If your going to cheap out on your ingredients atleast treat your customers to an actual portion of food. Will never eat here again. Do better.

I recently visited Dickey s BBQ pit after hearing that it is halal and to support the halal business in the area but unfortunately my experience was far from satisfactory. After ordering their picnic platter with chicken wings and few other sides and I was very excited to try them all with my family. How ever, when the wings arrived, they had a distinctly unpleasant odour that made me question their freshness. What compounded this issue was the lack of accountability and response from the staff when I brought it to their attention. Instead of a sincere apology or an offer to replace the dish. They really made me feel undervalued and unappreciated. Rest of the food was very average.

EXTORTION!!! I spent $30 for a half-pound of chicken with a terribly small serving of fries and a water. When I saw the portions, I asked for a refund, but the owner wasnt even there. The staff was wonderful and called the owner twice, but they gave them the same answer: they couldnt refund me without a password that he could have given over the phone. The way their meats are priced is not how you price meat. It was twenty-two dollars for a half-pound of chicken and, surprisingly, thirty-five for the full pound. Completely terrible portions and pricing. Again, the staff that were there was lovely.

First time here (halal meat). The portion and price for 2 brisket poutines were good. Bought the refillable cup for 3.50 so 1 to refill going again The seasoning of salt&pepper I tasted more than the meat. I will go 1 more time to try 2 more things before I make up my mind. To me, Pig Out and Horn Dawgs are still closer. They should add bacon to their poutine.

I had to try this place twice to give it the benefit of the doubt. If you are looking for a good BBQ restaurant in Durham this is not it. The portions are too small for the price you pay and the brisket is just too dry. To be honest, it just does not feel like authentic BBQ. Id love to see more effort put into the food here because it is a great location, but I do not think I will order from here for a while.

I do not leave Google reviews ever, because who has the time for that these days. But just so that the restaurant improves, I will leave this review. With all due respect, my experience here was genuinely the worst food experience I have had, and I mean this. When I entered the store, I was yelling out my order and the people at the counter would hear half my order and walk away in between. I had questions about the menu, and they were not being answered because they kept walking away from me in between and there wasnt a clear inputting of my order into the system where I could see that they were catching what I was saying. Either way, they took my order somehow, albeit they added beef sausage into it claiming that it tastes good, even though I hate sausage. Then I pay around 43$. I was expecting a decent amount of food until Im handed my tray (felt very cafeteria-like btw) and I actually did a double take at how light it was. There were a few pieces of sausage, one jiggly piece of brisket on the side, and a basic burger that contained small chunks of meat with ketchup on top. Even the pickle was just lying on the tray next to it and not on the burger itself. I was flabbergasted. The caesar salad was just cut up lettuce and croutons with a store bought sauce packet next to it. All this costed 43$. I just couldnt believe it. I tried to then enjoy the taste but nope. Burger was basic. Caesar salad was horrible because of that store bought sauce packet. And sausage was not chewable. Even the sprite tasted off. Very disappointed with this experience. I eat A LOT of outside food, and I am not a picky eater but this restaurant really shocked me. It had a lot of good reviews too so I dont know why my experience was this way. Either way, I hope they can improve on some of the points I mentioned. The restaurant itself was aesthethically pleasing though in terms of its looks and I liked their cups.

My friend and I ate here randomly based on their advertisement of being legit Texas bbq . Let me tell you that brisket was drier than the Sahara dessert. The side of Mac and cheese was the best thing I had. My friend took the brisket sandwich and same thing, it looked miserable. If you want good bbq I highly would recommend against eating here!

Came in on Sunday evening for pickup around dinner time. There was one other table of people, but it was dead silent in there Paid $62 for a dinner for 4. For that price i got 4 buns, a small coleslaw, a Caesar salad, a pound of brisket, a couple slices of dill pickes, and a small sauce container of their bbq sauce. The coleslaw was served in a cup the same size as a small coffee at Tims, and it was okay. Tasted like generic GFS brand coleslaw. The salad was okay, it was romaine served with the generic brand caesar dressing (no bacon). There was maybe enough brisket for 3 people. The brisket tasted pretty good, but it was very dried out. I asked for bbq sauce on the side and only got one little sauce contaner Flavour wise it was okay. It just wasnt worth $62 dollars for what you get. The one positive about my experience was that they were fast with putting together my order. Otherwise, I do not recommend this place

If you re in Durham looking for halal brisket & smoked meat just stick to Northern Smokes because I gave this place a shot and the portions were tiny, the meat was mediocre and dry, and overall just not a quality product, this is just a franchise opportunity and the true colours of this location will show as better places continue to expand into the Durham region.

Absolute waste of money...dont bother coming here, go to Northern Smokes...or McDonalds...anywhere else. The brisket was very dry and salty, the brisket Mac attack was trash, and my wifes Mac and cheese was freshly made, yet somehow still cold. I wanted to try the jalapeño cheddar sausage (had a similar dish at Mad Ox in Mississauga- which was fantastic by the way) but they were sold out of it. The restaurant is conveniently located, clean and well designed...thats the only good thing I can say. Dietary restrictions: 100% halal

The price is just not worth it. Ive been going to pig out BBQ for around 4 years so I decided to try this place. I knew when I picked up the bag with 1 hand that the dinner for 4 that I bought wasnt gonna feed the 4 of us. Not gonna say it wasnt tasty but what a joke. The staff was nice, place looks clean and all that but aint nobody getting the meat sweats from here, just small portions for a lot of money

This place is awful. Half the things on the menu arent available (no ribs no chicken), takes forever to get your food and when the food finally arrives, the brisket is COLD, DRY and bland. Super stingy on the bbq sauce too. Onion ring sides were burnt and bitter. Definitely not coming back and would not recommend. Best thing was the pop on tap. Dont waste your time or $ here.

Where do I begin, whether it was the brisket, the bun, the sides or the sauces every item from start to finish I had to filling, tasteful and cooked to perfection. Theyre very quick on their service and eager to fulfill all your cravings. Their hospitality is refreshing as they make sure to go above and beyond to truly exceed your expectations, I came in and didnt know what to order, the staff was kind enough to take their time to explain all questions I had require the items, they also were kind enough to take additional requests from us and didnt even charge us extra for items when they found out it was my birthday. This place apart from their food is truly outstanding for their customer service. I saw fried okra on their menu which Ive never seen anywhere else before and it was not a let down, it is a MUST HAVE. I will definitely be returning here more frequently and you should try it out too, the location is new and everything was clean crisp, and fresh! and the best part everything is HALAL! Theyre extremely accommodating of any of your reasonable requests and if you want a game changer you can ask them to warm/toast up your buns. I ordered the picnic for two thinking we wouldnt be able to finish it but it was truly finger licking good and we devoured all the items.

The portions of a slider (a small dinner roll , with a tiny slice of chicken. No Lettuce no nothing, not even a dressing. The poutine was a massive disappointment. that of a kids meal 6 bites. Incredibly small amount of food, Although it comes in a massive container. 30 bucks!!!!!! I wont go there again. Try improving instead of lying. Beware: Many paid fake reviews on here. Accounts with 1-2 reviews and made up names. THE MEAT ISN T SMOKED. The portions are a joke and over-priced. Having lived in the Deep South for a while and experiencing smoked meat chains, and the real Dickey s, I can say this location is nothing like the U.S. chain and is a major let down. I d even argue what you re getting is falsely represented as the meat isn t smoked. Can t stress this enough: The meat isn t smoked, 100%. This defeats the purpose of this store. It s overcooked as a result when they take it out of the warmers and my slice came from a whole uncut piece drenched in juice; smoked meats should not drip before they re cut because the smoking process seals the outside. Smoked meats also need have a bark and have a pink smoke ring. None of that in my meal at all. Any smoked flavour I tasted was liquid smoke from the sauce; it s a very distinct sharp smoke flavour which is a give away of corner cutting. Again, smoked meat shouldn t need a sauce to give it smoked flavour. The pickles were equally lazy. All brine, zero flavour. 100% from a jar of no name brand, 4 tiny slices in a tiny container. Hilarious. Others have complained there s no pork, a staple of smoked meats. I understand religious dietary restrictions, and that s perfectly ok and you can still make amazing smoked chickens and beef, but the owner should expect this to be an issue with customers and step up the other meals. This isn t the case here, the quality of the options are just bad and not authentic. If you want halal smoked meat done perfect, go to Northern Smokes about 10-15 mins west of this location, they re incredible and you can actually smell the charcoal and wood fire there because, surprise, they actually smoke their meats. I also saw the owner walking around in a hoodie, not wearing gloves, touching things in the back (table, bags, utensils), and on his phone the whole time. Absolute no no in any kitchen; at least show your location some respect. This isn t your home kitchen, you re serving food to the public So overall, very disappointed. I didn t pay $13 for a small sandwich of unsmoked meat at a smoked meat outlet. The owner clearly doesn t care about this business either.

Disappointing Experience at Dickeys BBQ Pickering I recently visited Dickeys BBQ Pickering with a group of eight guests, hoping to enjoy a satisfying meal. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations in several aspects. Upon arrival, it was evident that the servers were overwhelmed by our group size, which led to a noticeable level of nervousness among them. Despite this, we did not encounter a significant wait time for our food, which was appreciated. However, the portion sizes of the meals were disappointing, particularly for adult appetites. While the brisket and burnt ends were commendable in taste, the sides, including the fried okra and onion rings, failed to impress. Additionally, the absence of beef ribs, a menu item we had hoped to try, was disappointing, further diminishing our dining experience. Moreover, the lack of dinner rolls, a staple in barbecue dining, was unexpected and added to the overall sense of disappointment. In summary, Dickeys BBQ Pickering left a poor impression due to insufficient portion sizes, lackluster side dishes, unavailability of menu items, and the absence of expected accompaniments such as dinner rolls. High prices and small portions. The brisket sandwich I ordered was small and dry and the small Mac and cheese was about the size of a dipping sauce from pizza pizza. With no drink it was 18 dollars. No thanks.

Beef Brisket Burger was absolutely fantastic. The beef was cooked/smoked into perfection, tender, juicy and savory. Price is definitely reasonable with the quality of the burger. I would definitely comeback and visit the place again. Staff and Store Manager was amazing and very customer oriented.

Never-mind the smallest portions for $20.00, I Ordered the Chicken breast, rubbery texture as if it was boiled . Onion tangles drenched in oil and had zero flavor. The worst of it all was this coleslaw that i could not keep down. Terrible experience

Food was okay, not the best smoked sandwiches but certainly doable for being in the east side. Sandwiches were a bit cold and meat didn t feel too hot but still good food for filling the craving.

Had their 3 meat plate (brisket, brunt ends, sausage) & brunt end sandwich. Enjoyed all the food, especially the sandwich. Added their Mac & cheese to the sandwich wow. Their Mac & cheese, bbq beans are also delicious.

I took my family to this place for dinner on weekend the food was outstanding and the guy AK did outstanding job explaining us the menu patiently and making us comfortable. Will definitely go again

This was my first time ordering. We ordered 2 of the 3 meal plate with a side of Mac and cheese.. we wanted a coke but that was $6.00 anyway, damn near $80 just to receive tiny portions and RAW TURKEY MEAT .. this was shameful. Everything looked like it was just slapped in a container and done. Hated it. Never again.

I visited Dickeys to get some food, and I was extremely disappointed with the quality. The taste was not great, and the mac and cheese looked terrible. The portion size was too small for the price of $62. I plan to send a letter of complaint to the organization. I hope other families and friends dont waste their hard-earned money at this establishment.

Brisket sandwich was awesome and hand cut fries was so much fresh and yummy, chicken wings are big in size and yummy worth paying the price.

The healthiest food ever tired as everything is wood smoke cooked and freshly prepared .The brisket was perfectly prepared with tenderness. Usually don t eat sausages but after eating their I have to change my mind as they were full of smoke flavoured. Also recommend Wings with buffalo sauces. It would be injustice not to mention the use of brioche bun in the burger which you don t usually get in other places. Last but not the least the place overall look was nice and clean.

This place is soooooo good. The food is great, the staff are super knowledgeable and friendly. Great value and quality. All halal meat. The brisket and burnt ends are phenomenal. Highly recommend.

My mom had the Pit Dip Brisket and I joined her but wasn t hungry. The look of satisfaction on her face and telling me I had to try it made me take a bite. I was NOT hungry but this Pit Dip was succulent, perfect seasoning, the cheddar and onions went perfectly and they added a soft bun with pickles and side jus- it was incredible. So much so, that I almost bought one even though I wasn t hungry. The staff were very kind and came out to chat while my mom ate. It was very filling and they also showed us the smoked holder where everything cooks for hours. If you hungry go and enjoy. The original restaurant in Texas has been doing it since 1941 and I wish them many years of success in Canada!

Fries were soggy, they forgot to add the Carolina BBQ sauce and onions to the order. We ordered brisket and the poultry. Brisket was ok, but leaving out the sauce was disappointing, poultry was decent.

Awesome food, the best Halal Texas style bbq to be found in Canada. Very rare combo. Glad to stop by. So much to choose from. One of most premium dine ins with budget prices. Recommend to everyone. My new go to place. Mr. Yasir is an amazing host.

We went today with my family and tried the brisket sandwich and 2 meat plate. Everything was delicious!! Kids lived the food ..which doesnt happen often!

The Brisket was cold. Good flavor and texture. Theres no excuse for cold food. I asked for wings with no sauce, they came with sauce on. My wife said the Mac n Cheese was not very nice, same with the mashed potatoes. There where 5 of us eating there, we all said that we would not go back. Very disappointed.

Stopped in for a quick bite and we were not disappointed! The brisket was super tender and flavorful and the turkey sandwich was a great choice for my health conscious partner. The big yellow cup as a drink size option was charming too. The staff were so sweet they really took their time walking us through the eats and on top of that they gave us free beans :) just a really nice experience so you should stop by if youre reading this.

Food was good, had the turkey sandwich and it was juicy, bread was nice and soft. Their fries were crispy and had a smokey flavor which I loved. Staff was very kind and lovely.

Solid fast BBQ, portions are a little small.

I ordered the burnt end sandwich. I got the driest brisket from the edge of the brisket. When I asked them why I got brisket not burnt ends they had no clue what I was talking about. Burnt ends are not just the burnt end of a brisket they are cooked once, cubed up soaked in butter and bbq sauce and smoked a second time. They were nice but had no clue about bbq. I also ordered the ceaser salad and ended up tossing it, the dressing was so bad. Usually id give another chance but this was bad enough to not try again. And I was really exited about this place. I also reached out to corporate to see if they actually sold burnt ends at other stores or are just falsely advertising them. No response : you can really tell they don t care about customer satisfaction even at the corporate level. Save your money and go somewhere else.

The food was god awful! Got the marinated chicken and it tasted like those fake rubber chicken meat. Also got the burnt pork ends it was just soaked in oil. The only reason i gave it 2 stars was because the Onion tangles were pretty good. Would definitely not go back. Paying $26 for all this was a huge mistake, alot of better options out there.

Extremely disappointed in lack of service provided. I called in around 2 pm to place a fairly large order for pickup at 6.45 pm. With large orders, I always call in about an hour before pickup to confirm that itll be ready, but the phone line kept saying they were on another call. I called 8 times within 10 minutes, and not once did anyone pick up. I get there shortly after 6.45 and the employees acknowledge that nothing is ready and that itll take about 30 minutes, but that they have everything ready. How can you have everything ready but still need 30 minutes? Inside the restaurant, I called them on the phone to understand why they never picked up before and I get the same busy message and I realized that they must have shut off the phone. I got the food 25 minutes later, took it home, and realized that they missed a few sides. I tried calling the same number but received the same busy message. Im forced to complain in a public forum because they dont seem to care enough. The food Brisket - 1 lb was tougher than the other lb. I guess that one was an older brisket or that the middle of the brisket didnt get smoked long enough. Ribs - They dont even give the bones with the ribs and it had a heavy layer of fat on it. Sausages - small and shriveled up. Didnt look like we received the 1lb we paid for. Burnt ends - these were ok The sides we received were fine. Considering how much we spent, very disappointing experience. Edit after response from owner- I sent an email to the email address as requested and have not received a response in 10 days. Just like their phone lines, their email must not be working as well. Terrible management all around.
