1101 Kingston Rd #3, Pickering, ON L1V 1B5, Canada
WE WILL BE CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS FROM MARCH 7 - 12, 2021. RE-OPEN MARCH 13 2021. OUR AJAX LOCATION REMAINS OPEN TO SERVE YOU
It's good food but I think it's way overpriced About $40 bucks for oxtail and a bottle of water
Beryl 's really needs to improve on there food quality and customer service. Last time I was there 3 years ago I bought a jerk chicken and was disappointed. I decided to get a oxtail dinner during lunch had a craving and was disappointed again. Not enough seasoning and spices. Plus the cashier need to smile when your spend $18 on a meal and it not worth it. I got a piece that was like a pig tail, mostly fat and rice. That will be my last time there, hope they see this message and do better.
I always order the curried goat (meat only) it's been tasty every time. I get the large and even though the container looks small, it's always well packed so you get a good amount. I prefer Jamaican curry and this tastes like home to me. Will continue to be back!
Unfortunately my partner was super disappointed with his dinner tonight after ordering a large order of jerk and rice and peas. It was all bones with barely any meat, hardly any gravy even though he had asked for extra and the quality was below standard. Seems like this location in comparison to the Ajax one is cutting corners or trying to save money by offering smaller portion sizes or just skimping on the meat + quality of their meals. Super unfortunate when you’re paying around $20 per person for a quick takeout order. Given the competition in the pickering area - we’d be inclined to going elsewhere to get our jerk fix. I actually ordered from a different restaurant nearby so watching my partner who never complains about food like that seem so extremely unsatisfied and disappointed sucked!
Got takeout and it was nice and hot 😌 I haven’t had oxtail in forever so I’m glad I got it from here. The portion was great for me. I think they have daily specials but I didn’t know that until I got there (ordered and paid online). Will be back but it is a little far for me.
This restaurant has the potential to be good. The customer service has improved considerably (more pleasant people at the order desk) but the food is not consistently up to standard. I usually order curry goat or oxtail small meal and they are OCCASIONALLY surprisingly delicious but it's usually just good enough. I've had instances where the meat was still tough and we all know that nothing can make these types of dishes enjoyable if the meat is not tender. Yesterday I decided to try their jerk chicken lunch special. That was a big waste of my money tbh. The chicken had no taste of jerk and was not freshly made. I think we all know what stale reheated chicken tastes like. They are clearly cutting too many corners. Is it just due to greed or are they just struggling to keep their doors open? Very disappointed.
Food is very tasty and the atmosphere is pleasant. I had the chicken stew last week and it was divine!! The portion sizes are standard and may be smaller than expected for some diners.
I am so shocked by this restaurant. I don’t know what has happened to this place. They overcharge and give u scraps. I’m actually in disbelief… I’ve never ordered jerk chicken and only got 2 little pieces of chicken… & mostly bone at that for $14?! The portions for the price is crazy. I’m so mad I spent my money here. This place never used to be like this. I will not be eating here again. Truly SAD!
A Disappointing Dining Experience We visited this restaurant with the expectation of enjoying a meal that would justify the expense. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of that. First, the menu lacks clarity. It does not specify whether dishes include rice, which led to some confusion when placing our order. We opted for a Large Jerk Chicken priced at $16, assuming it was just the chicken since the menu has a separate section for Large Rice and Peas. However, when the order arrived, we were shocked to receive only three small pieces of chicken. The portion size was highly disappointing for the price. To make matters worse, the chicken was extremely dry, with minimal gravy, leaving the dish lacking in flavor and moisture. For $16, we expected far more, both in terms of quantity and quality. This was our first visit, and it will undoubtedly be our last. The experience has made us realize the value of traveling a little further to places like Yardy s on Brock Rd., where we know we ll receive better quality food at a fair price. A fancy-looking establishment means little if the food does not meet basic expectations. This was a thoroughly unsatisfactory experience, and we hope the management takes this feedback seriously to improve their offerings.
For the price charged Im not impressed with the amount of food given. Only tried the place because we were at Home Depot and needed a good place to buy food. Definitely not going back.
Food was excellent. We had the coconut prawn (maybe the best weve had) jerk chicken dinner, jerk pork dinner and a chicken roti. We will be going again!
Just got served by the rudest cashier.
Jerk pork was very dry. I wouldn t order it from here again.
Terrible customer service. Also, you cant place a takeout order over the phone and they are rude about it when you try.
Food is yummy. We drive all the way from Toronto to Pickering for the jerknpork!
Oxtail was not bad. But $$$
Went to the Ajax location today Sept 15 for some jerk chicken, because they are known for the great jerk taste, OH No, it was HORRIBLE, the chicken had zero taste ite looked stale and dark like it was sitting for a few days, the rice was bland and tasteless, there was a raw smell as well, I am Never going back, plus they charge you extra to have a large size and its Not large, Beryls what happened to your food quality, its a shame. Woah I could give zero stars. Shame.
Simply DELICIOUS!!! This restaraunt has been on my radar for years and I finally got the opportunity to try it and boy did the food exceed my expectations!! I got the curry goat with rice and peas and was beyond satisfied. This restaraunt has gained a lifelong customer. The staff were super friendly and accomodating. 15/10!!!!!
Prices on menu do NOT reflect the prices to w charge- fix this as this is FALSE advertising customer service sucks
The service can be pretty slow, but the food always taste good. The environment is welcoming and an overall good experience.
Showed up today! Tried to order ackee salt fish. 910am. 5 employees and 4 customers. It s Caribana weekend and you should be ready. Went to another restaurant and service was good! Not coming back!
MORE UPDATE: food still consistently amazing. Just empty your change holder and kids piggy bank to go along with your wallet/credit card But still ! UPDATE: still great food but customer service and efficiency leaving a lot to be desired while at the same time prices are going through the roof ... sorry not giving my hard earned money to any company as a reward to treat me poorly ... sent an email with my specific issue to management; it s been a full month now and no reply of any kind. This applies to both Pickering and Ajax locations and I would attend both equally.
Very comfortable, clean and top customer service quality type of place. Thanks to Server Dania..
They catered our office event today. The jerk chicken is the best I ve had in Toronto. I ve sampled most in the city and this chicken stands above. The curried goat is spectacular. I have a new favourite spot in the city.
Food is bland. Ox tail are mostly bones.
The jerk chicken is the worst I ever had. The price is way too high also
The food at THIS location is better than Ajax. However the service is the same: slow. Don t bother wasting time to order online, because you will still wait another 20 minutes when you arrive after the completion time, for the order. Love to support black businesses but there needs to be equally the same amount of attention to customer service and efficacy as there is to good quality. It s about the total experience. Especially when the food isn t cheap.
My go to for fish Stewed steamed or fried Yawd style Food : 5/5
Food was very basic cheap ingredients and flavor less
There foods is always good.
Hits the spot...EVERYTIME!!!
If you re thinking of buying the stew peas, I m gonna save you the trouble and say just don t. As much as I love supporting my fellow black businesses this was just way too salty and does not have much flavour. Additionally a size small costs $20 which is insane to think considering curry goat (a much more expensive meat) at some places cost that much and this stew peas meal is primarily made of kidney beans (an item of much lower price bracket). Not sure if it was just the batch they made today that is like this but I m very let down by this one considering the price of it
Over priced. Stale food. Terrible taste. Poor quality. Poor quantity. Never again.
Food is consistent
Oxtail was extremely hard. Could only partially eat 2 out of 8 pieces.
NO VALUE FOR MONEY. I recently bought a large goat (just meat). Paid over 30 bucks but the quantity was actually like small to medium size container. Overall their prices are high even for other items. Perhaps the rent is too high with unused spaces in the unit?
Jerk was delicious and oxtail very tasty
Beryl What happened to your chicken curry ? It needs a little spicing up. I ve had chicken curry from Chris jerk, my mom s and Yardies. It s like you re making food for the Caucasian population. You gotta do a little better. Your roti is dry. You can buy wonderful roti from Mona s. it will Up your rep. Plus your staff has to smile and be more interactive. And Covid is over. You need to open the restaurant especially if you re going to charge premium prices.
Peas and rice with bbq chicken was excellent!
Nothing bad to say about the food. Oxtail is plentiful and delicious. Usually another family member has pickup duties, so I was quite surprised that dine-in was still closed post-Covid. No problem for me as take-out service was fast and I was out the door in no time. I only wish that they sell Chicken soup daily. Fridays are Manish Water Soup and their Chicken Soup would have brightened up a Snow Storm Friday.
Food tasted like water down curried goat. No flavor. No taste. You guys need to do much better. Price is expensive, and the food is garbage
Staff was very friendly and food was great
Long waits and small portions this is the so called large Jerk Chicken!
Restaurant is open , selling food but no washroom open to customers. Food is poor quality. Rice and peas is weird and tasteless No value for such expensive food. Waste of money Food : 1/5 |
Nah sorry i gotta leave this message in hopes the owner gets to hear this. This will be my last time ordering red pea soup. I use to love this soup everyone s been complaining about the smaller serve size being given when buying in person. The food quality also has been downgraded. Now back to the soup . this will be my last time ordering it as it came watered down, 2 pieces of beef. This soup was a solid 10 during covid times to a straight 2. Management needs to fix up and stop downgrading quality. This is always the downfall of Jamaican establishments.
Busy day from work , stop by to buy food, no acknowledgement, I ask how long another 2 mins, still pass 2 min, no service, so I just left. Just to let the staff know I was not begging food, I was buying, no longer supporting this business, staff need to check their attitude not good at all.
Food is always fresh and delicious...sometimes there is a wait..esp at lunch time. I tend to order online and go pick it up..it saves time.
I accidentally bumped into this place. I tried Curry Goat dish here. The meat was tender, the spice level of the gravy was mild. Felt like an authentic home cooked South Indian dish. Give a try, you will love it.
Another waste of time Jamaican restaurant. Attitude more than food! Sucks. Lunch special $12+ for two piece of meat. And i had to beg for pepper sauce??? What country you crawl out from? Caribbean people eat pepper! Go somewhere better. No time for dred woman serving food very unpleasant face like she a living dead. Hire better people. She think she working in an office? No you is a server goon. Fed up waiting for slowmoving freaks. You should close. You wasting space. And your food run down, no taste. Better to eat anywhere else. First and last for me
Beryls never disappoints me. I at least get dinner for my family from Beryls once a week. The lunch specials are terrific. However, recently Ive been noticing the Pickering location has been stingy on the meat portion. I ordered a large curry goat and my order was only half full with meat, the other half was just plain rice and peas no gravy on the top either. All I ask is to provide reasonable portions to your customers. Other than theyre the best Jamaican restaurant in the GTA.
Love the food here. Recently I wanted soup and they only had pepper pot (dah, its the name of the restaurant). I hadnt had this soup for decades and it was always a hit or miss for me. I had the small just in case it was a miss. It was a huge hit. Its a bit from me but occasionally Ill drive the distance just for some good food.
Amazing spot. Great service and food taste perfect. Will def come here again. Big ups to the chef for giving moms some hot soup while she waited for her fried fish. So sweet on a reallllly cold winter evening.
Great satisfying food, lots of choices, excellent modern decoy...you can take out or eat your meal at the restaurant, not a lot of seating but adequate, clean bathrooms, friendly staff with good service.
Good service, but I find the quality has changed from when they first opened this location. Ill return but not for a while.
I recently had the jerk chicken and rice and peas and unfortunately, I was disappointed with my meal. The jerk chicken that I ordered was dry and lacked the juicy and flavourful taste that I usually get. Also, the rice and peas was also dry and lacked any seasoning or flavour. I m hoping that it will get better and return to its former standards.
Used to come her often. But the flavour is not the same and the price is ridiculous for mostly rice and a very small portion of meat.
Great food, nice staff will be back.
Love da goat!
The jerk chicken I ordered had decent flavor, but was dry. Not as dry as their attitude though.
Great food
I have notice quantity keep decreasing and prices keep increasing
Great food and nice intimate atmosphere.
Such a great place. I got a small curry Goat and it was AMAZING , tasted just like my mothers cooking ! It was well seasoned and cooked with care! Definitely will be back again
The staff was amazing and the food was delicious
Best oxtail, best curry goat, best jerk chicken.
I had the curry goat with rice & peas. Absolutely delicious! Next time Im asking for hot! My only complaint is that theres no boneless goat option. But thats not going to stop me from going back!
Delicious food quick service
Im all for a good West Indian take out but this one hit way below the grade. It was not what I expected. The food lacked flavor and presentation. I paid $17 for leg quarter and rice. Very disappointing
Best jerk pork Ive ever had. Tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned.
Not sure what the complaints are about the service. I was greeted with a smile and the cashier was super helpful with our customizations. Only thing we were sad about was that the dine in section was closed. Food was great, no complaints!
Ordered ackee and salt fish with plantains and festival. The ackee and salt fish was not bad but the festival was thick, doughy and not cooked properly. The festival ruined the meal.
The fish could have abit more seasoning.
I order a lot from this location via Uber and moving forward I am stopping. The meals are over priced (on Uber and inperson) and I find the quality to be consistently going down. Not a fan and would not recommend. And why never enough gravy????!! Food always dry.
Great food. Clean modern decor. Busy take out service.
Food is excellent, but the last 3 times I ordered through UberEats my order was accepted, and then about 30 minutes later was cancelled for no reason.
They serve hot sauce like it s krypton, there s never enough, I have to beg for hot sauce and they get madd that you asked trust me. All these Caribbean places I been too do that.
The worst thing about most West Indian restaurants is the customer service. But Berrys has remedied this by having wonderful staff. In fact, even though I live in North Whitby, I drive all the way to the Pickering location because of the service. Chloe is delightful, always greeting you with a warm smile and excellent service. And the food is hands down the best in the GTA. Not overly oily, always fresh, and mostly importantly - CONSISTENTLY GOOD. They never disappoint. The fried chicken, jerk chicken and curried goat is a must have. Berryls is truly a gem.
The food is good but the staff have no customer service they are young people who need proper training
We used the online order for a large Mothers Day lunch. A staff member called the next day to confirm special instructions and was super-pleasant to deal with. Our order was ready on time, and the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the oxtail, jerk chicken, and whole fish. Thank you for contributing to a memorable meal; the food was excellent!
Food is very good. But customer service is not which unfortunately impacted my opinion on this restaurant. Might be back but other good places in the city with good customer service
Excellent place to eat !
I find your guys food are very very overpricing and the food you get is very small amount 2nd time around Im not happy with the pricey food and very little food you get
Came for lunch. The food was very underwhelming. Chicken dried out, rice was dry. There wasnt enough gravy to compensate for the overall dryness. The coleslaw was decent. Its far to pricey for the quality of food. The young lady at the cash was polite.
Food is good but expensive. My favourite is the curry goat!
The food here is really good and authentic Jamaican cuisine. Curry goat is amazing!
The food is really authentic I would definitely be going back 10/10
Their food is always delicious. The are consistent in delivering tasty delicious food. When Im home visiting family, I must go to Beryls food good authentic Jamaica cuisine.
Honestly, this place fell off. I went and I got a jerk chicken dinner. It s definitely not worth it. Chicken doesn t even look cooked properly. I don t know what kind of jerk chicken this is? The girl at the front has zero personality, and such an attitude. I definitely will not be visiting this place again! Such a waste of money.
Great jerk pork
Our order was ready on time, and the food was delicious.
Great food , service is good , atmosphere could be updated but it is clean
Portions a lot smaller than they use to be. I purchased the curry chicken roti. Curry chicken was flavourful but roti was dry. Some parts of roti were so dry it was like eating chips. Dining room still closed. Takeout only.
The absolute best Jamaican food. You have to get the oxtail and the stew peas is to due for. Youve got to eat here!
If I could give less that a single star for customer service this place would be getting it. Absolutely the worst. How do you continue to run a business with that type of service being given to every customer. If you dont like you job that leave it. The food is one of the worst Ive tasted and not the first time from them. I didnt want to go back but a friend wanted to try the ox tail. There was little to no gravy even after asking for extra gravy. it was all bones and no meat. SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY. I definitely dont recommend this place
Cant recommend: Value isnt there Pickup via Chowhound. I got the large jerk chicken entree ($14) while my wife got a small oxtail ($15). The chicken tasted like a 7/10 and sat on a thick layer of rice. No veggies as depicted on website. Another chicken piece would have made it a decent deal. The small oxtail was a rip-off. Her takeout container was half the size of mine, so the price doesnt align with the amount of food. The coleslaw included for both meals was possibly spoiled. Scotty Bons is a much better alternative.
Our order was ready on time, and the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed.
They have small and large portions, not a regular... small is 1/3 of the large in size, and small portion is 12 dollars and large 16 dollars.
Food is always on point!
Try the jerk pork and curry roti. Food heaven.
Perfect!!!
Cx service is very poor. I visited more than few time always same experience.
Their jerk chicken and jerk pork are amazingly delicious at an affordable price. With rice and peas and coleslaw, its perfect. The place is clean and neat. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Absolutely the hands down worst jerk chicken I have ever had. I can t believe any one from a Caribbean background would even serve this. The chicken I had was roasted not Jerk and the rice and peas tasted like it was made days ago. I feel bad leaving such a bad review the staff there seem very nice but it s unfortunate to spend $16 and have to toss food in garbage.
Wonderful Staff .Deserve raise. Meals fit for a King Food
Spent almost $50 buying a small stewpeas, medium soup and a small stew chicken and it all went into the garbage,it was the worst food ever, was very disappointed, some years ago went to a funeral that they cater for and the food was good so I was more than disappointed
Great jamaican food. Excellent customer service
Tried to order pickup was only able to order online. Ordering service makes you sign up. When you get there to get your food...no one is at the counter and when you try to get your food they say did you order online. Seems kind of like a bother to order their food. Food was ready when I got there. Food was ok but kind of small for pricing. Jerk pork was mostly fat pieces. Only got the jerkpork with rice and peas and was over 20 bucks.
Ordered ackee and saltfish and fried dumplings. The ackee and salt fish was ok, but I would bet money those dumplings are courtesy of Grace foods. Just awful. Please do as other Jamaican restaurants do and make these from scratch!
The best spot in Durham to get a taste of Jamaica.
How you all go call yourself beryls Pepper Pot and you dont even sell PEPPA POT!? whats wrong wit chyall
Have been a customer since their opening, food was decent in the begining but has since declined. Customer service was never good from the get go and seems that other people recognize that as well. The lady taking orders looks as if she hates the world. I over heard person that ordered after me say to her that she needs to smile, he said it in a jokingly and friendly manner and you would think she would at least grin but nope. Yardies and Alwyns are much better in quality and more deserving of your business.
Was leaving downtown and called in to place a pick up order for Fried Chicken. We were told it s cook to order and would take 20 mins. We were 42 mins away and said we would call back. Called back when were 23 mins away and was told be someone else, there s no fried chicken. No problem. We said we d like to place an order for jerk chicken white meat, and was told they have that available along with, jerk pork and oxtail so we can just come in. If we were ordering fish, that s cooked to order. We said thanks and we would be in shortly for the chicken. WHEN WE ARRIVED we asked for 2 large white meat jerk chicken dinners, only to be told it would take you guessed it! 20 MINUTES!! because it s white meat. NO PROBLEM!!! went to grab some stuff at a shop in the plaza. Got back to only 1 yes you read correctly 1 DINNER. There was no apology for messing up nothing besides to wait and 20 minutes for the second order that s a no. Now, we are home only to open up the container and find drum roll please JERK PORK!!!!!!! LOL!!!
Me,Couple friends went here all excited just to find out such a large place is only takeout. Unfortunately eating roti in the car is not enjoyable, we did not try the food. Maybe will go back someday when the dine in opens.
Wish I could give two set of stars one ser for the food and one set for the customer service unfortunately I have to give it one star because of that reason... Whoever owns this restaurant seriously seriously seriously needs to look into changing the staff or having them trained for proper customer service... The food definitely a five star even more than that excellent food one of the best Caribbean restaurants Ive had in Pickering.... However the customer service is seriously turning me off and Im actually considering to stop buying from this restaurant because its just too much to handle each time you go there..... At some point in time you would go there and the restaurant is full and wait times and all that but none of that mattered...even the fact that the menu is there and half the time nothing on the menu is available that doesnt even matter as much .....what matters is when you go there and these cashiers and the woman you have working in there have no manners and has zero customer service experience...do something about it! Im pretty your losing business because of this!!
If theres one thing I expect at the bare minimum is the rice and peas to have been delicious. Nope, instead rice and peas were dry and tasted a few days old. Not enough gravy on the three pigtails and tasteless in my opinion. Will not be returning.
Had the oxtail and white rice with a side order of curry chicken. Thank you for giving plenty oxtail sauce with my order..the spicy oxtail sauce is deeelicious! I do like my curry chicken with bone and potato but thats ok it was still very tasty.
This location specifically will always mess your order. I m always missing something from coleslaw 2 the right rice or sides. Attitude also when asking about a drink they should know about because l it s on their menu they just don t have in stock.
THE BEST CARIBBEAN RESTAURANT IVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY LIFE!!!!! HANDS DOWN!!!!!!
The customer service was poor the jerk chicken was salty and dry the rice was not shelly A white gentleman came in the cashier was sweet and kind to him and as for i i waited for 5 minutes before she decided to take my order with an attitude I went back again today 7 people waiting for their order One lady was upset she waited so long for her order plus they mixed it up I left right away No thank you
Amazing
My first time to try out their food and it was good. I have yet to find a Carribean restaurant that actually serves mild dishes. Ive been to several but unfortunately the word mild is defined to the owners taste buds never the customers palette. So when l ask for mild...it is still extremely a wild fire in my mouth. . Service was excellent, quantity and quality good.
Great food and service!
I have always loved beryls food is the best in all of Durham I always order a jerk chicken meal with spicy gravy and it s always so tasty would go to any beryls location it s so good
Delicious soup
The rice was over cooked, the jerk chicken tasted old and the service was slow and unfriendly. I knew I should have just taken the drive to Scarborough and get Island Spice. Never again.
If you want your food served with more attitude then gravey,.. then this is the place for you. April 3 2022 @6:02pm, Whoever owns this place please please please have a conversation with your staff about greeting and dealing with your customers with respect. Time and time again its the same old dismal demeanor in this business, last time for me.... and ill spread the word amongst my peers.
love this place
Great staff, great food. Great Service.
LOVE THIS PLACE! Thursdays and Saturdays remain my fave days! The fried chicken OMG! STEW PEAS AND RICE like my Mommas! Staff interact well with each other and customer satisfaction is excellent. Thanks to Teddy and his team for feeding us during the pandemic and remaining a great staple in the Durham community
The Worst!! For years I have been hoping that the customer serve at Beryls restaurant improves. Absolutely worst place in Canada for customer service and honestly I dont think that anyone cares because the competition is limited. Each time we stop ordering for a long while and then we try again after a year. WORST PLACE !!! Food not bad depending on what is ordered. If I had the time I would show this restaurant what a real niche restaurant should be.
Amazing.
The oxtail is top notch, best in the Durham area Id say.
Nice service!
Jerk pork.... bomb
Customer service is great from most of the employees. Food is really good, my favorite is ackee and saltfish, as it doesnt have a heap of onions in it disguised as saltfish as many restaurants do. Flavour is perfect and also food is not drowning in oil.
I gave Beryls Pickering a 3 because sometimes its good and sometimes bad. Food is usually flavourful but if the oxtail or goat is like rubber. flavour will not make it good. Need better quality control to ensure that the food is properly cooked. There have been days when the food is so good its unbelievable. Jerk chicken and pork is sometimes dry. Not sure what is going on. Food quality needs to be more consistent. Ordered curry chicken on one occasion which turned out to be boneless strips. Thats not what I expected for jamaican curry chicken. Wasnt good at all. Heard that their Ajax location is better. Idk
Ive been to this restaurant a handful of times and each time they never disappoint with their food. Pre-covid, their service sucked, but now theyre very accommodating and fast. I dont get attitude like other places. My favorite is the red peas soup and oxtail dinner. Their rice n peas is my absolute favorite, they actually make it right! I will always be a returning customer.
After hearing from so many people how good this place is, We drove all the way from Ottawa just to try this place and we were disappointed. Being vegetarian, there was nothing catered for people like us. I tried to get a few sides such as plaintain, they had none. They were out of stock with everything. Yet they kept pushing chicken and pork dishes cause that was all they had. My hubby ordered soup and it comes without food and meat. I have never seen this in my entire life. Also, the attitude of the person taking the order was incomprehensible, she gave the nastiest attitude, and started rolling her eyes. I just shook my head and walked out. Advise for. Management Management needs to revamp this place to ensure that you have catered to everyone, also needs to ensure that they are not sold out of literally everything. Rest assured, I will not be visiting this establishment ever again. I am very disappointed.
Good food, good service, good dining experience
I cannot believe I paid $19 for a large jerk pork.!.!.! And they attempted to get a tip...ahhhhh hahahahaha nope.No Cole slaw and way to dry. Never again will I go here.
Not a fan of Caribbean food. Order jerk beef and curry goat, both taste good and delicious. Would love to dine-in to enjoy freshly cooked food.
The food is good... If it is in stock (which is a hit or miss sometimes)... My biggest complaint is the customer service. Why is the need for rudeness with some Jamaican restaurants? I easily can spend my money elsewhere or at your competitors down the road. Smarten up and have cashiers that behave professionally. They will either make or break your business. I read some of the other complaints and it is the same as mine. I want to support your business, but I will not support if your staff is unprofessional and rude.
Oxtail, with rice and peas....the best
So yesterday I went to Beryl s Pickering order my food which came up to $36 and noticed in addition their was a tip for a whopping $262.44. Not sure how that happen because I didn t entered any tip in addition my pin # was nothing close to those numbers .Long story short , the owners son was understanding and tried to refund my money which means waiting there for another hour , while he sorted it out . He eventually had to call the bank to help with the debit card refund and get authorization from the owner .By that time I didn t feel hungry again I just wanted to get out of there . I asked several times to give me a cash refund but he said no the amount is too big . The girl at the counter that day was cold as ice she just carried on taking orders . Long story short . Plz check your receipts before leaving any establishment. Beryls or not . Apart from that ,I would like to see more friendly staff at Beryls for a change . Everybody don t have to be so stoned face . A little smile goes along way in customer service.
The best curry goat in the country no rivals.
Nice Location. Great Customer Service.
Nope! No flavor, no soul put into the making of the food! Rice&peas should have peas! Not pink unflavored rice! Goat....all bone! Oxtail???? The $$$ they charge for fatty meat????!!!! Lawd! Never again! Ill spend the gas money and drive into Toronto to get real food, or make it myself!!!!
Amazing food. Dont expect to be wowed by the service. The Jerk pork is amazing and if you eat in try the Shrimp Tacos.
Food is delicious
Great ox-tail & jerk chicken Parking: Lots of parking
Excellent food, customer service and attention detail. We loved the delicious, fresh, well-portioned food. We will order here again. Thank you so much!
Not terribly great but not overly bad. Good pricing for what it is. However, they do not cook their entire menu everyday so you have to ask what s available. Pricing is a bit confusing as they will bill you a different price that s on the menu if you don t check them. Gravy on the jerk chicken was pretty gross and gelatinous. Probs wouldn t go back considering there are chicken joints well within the area. Customer service was meh-very in and out type of place as they no longer have in house dining.
Terrible! Rice and peas was not only bland but it already went bad, Jerk chicken was as dry as stale bread, customer service is as nasty as the food. Wasted my time and money, was so hungry but I had to thrash the food.
Never have I had a bad visit or unpalatable food.
The food is incredible! The jerk chicken is incredibly tender and goes really well with the rice & peas. The service is also great. The front staff was super friendly & bubbly! This place is awesome. Will definitely be back for some tasty jerk chicken :)
Fantastic experience every time. The food is always fresh and full of flavour. Every time I m in town I be sure to treat myself to this awesome place.
Every time I order oxtail here I m disappointed it s never soft or pressured enough and it has a lot of fatty pieces in it why The barrels other location is way better I mean ands like the foods cheep ether and it s not even that good pleaser work on your oxtail and try serving fresh coslaw
First and foremost remove that girl from the cash register with her stink attitude. If you don t like your job quit. There is tremendous competition for jerk food in Pickering and I ve been to all the restaurants. This place is by far the worst. No oxtail, no plantain, no dumpling? She told me I had to wait for my order meanwhile 2 people came in and ordered then left before me? Pork was fatty and there was no oxtail gravy but the fellow after me ordered oxtail lol smh. Go to yardies. Good customer service and food without the attitude.
Food is excellent here.
The service and the food is nice Parking: Parking is pretty good, not any different than a typical strip mall parking lot.
Beryls is one of the best ever. Period. Always fresh, always great. Reheats well the next couple of days too! We moved to Kingston a few months ago and the one time we went back to TO to visit we had to stop and get our fix. Please please come to Kingston, we need you here no joke! Fantastic stuff :)
Amazing taste and quick service! Fish taste good mi seh!
Ive always enjoyed Beryls pepper pot, but not this time! I specifically asked for gravy on my rice, but when I got home and opened my container, my rice was dry. The meat itself didnt have any gravy on it. I do not enjoy dry food! I am all about the sauce/gravy! The flavor of the oxtail and curried goat was not the best. I guess the chef was having an off day in the kitchen. It also would be nice to be served with a smile. Theres nothing more welcoming and refreshing than when you enter a place of business and you are greeted with a hi, how are you? and a smile! Customer service goes a long way folks!!
Rice and peas were sticky..seemed old. I called to explain and ask for another order Manager didnt care and said no.
Service was way better this time, food was good too!
Authentic Jamaican food with friendly and courteous staff. *Edit* Just visited again and was very disappointed. Came all the way from Hamilton, looking forward to sitting down, having a good Jamaican meal and experience ( very rare in Ontario). Instead, I was told that the dining area was closed due to being short staffed... this was Sunday afternoon! Then there was the overpriced, really, really small soup, barely 1 cup. The large was just $1 more, but 2x the size. Come on Beryls .. what happened to you? Please improve on your pricing model and staffing, get back to being one of the best Jamaican Restaurants. At least the attendant and the cash register was pleasant.
As a first timer!! My experience overall was good.. Food was Delicious, service & staff was organized. However, I am hoping they will renovate soon, as the pick up area was tiny.
Great
Was excellent
Im very picky but beryls food is always on point the girls are very sweet and perfessional
I just ordered a a medium beef wit red peas soup. 6 piece a dumpling and one morsel piece a beef. This place sucks barely found a red peas in my soup .HORRIBLE
One of the most authentic Jamaican food you can find in the area. Havent seen them be rude to anyone (Jamaican or not). I think theres a cultural misunderstanding there.
I like some of their food but I dont like their prices. The shrimp roti was not good. But the oxtail was nice. Food needs some spice though.
My favorite place for Caribbean food steamed fish to die for
