BEST SHORT RIBS I VE EVER HAD!!! Love this place!!

The portions of the extreme poutines is less than half of what it was last year and the portions of ribs are smaller as well. I dont know what other changes were made, but Im not interested in coming here again to find out.

Generous portions and oh so tasty with the chicken strip dinner.

We ordered hawaiin plate it was really tasty and the short ribs were very flavourful. Highly recommended.

Great takeout option and reheated very nicely.

My family and I come here every Tuesday and Thursday and are always met with top tier customer service from John! He is kind, friendly and always welcomes us with a smile. The food is amazing, well portioned and fairly priced. Keep up the great work and thanks again to John for always delivery amazing customer service!

I have to agree with Chris D. New ownership, & the portions are smaller, & the taste is not the same. Use to love this place, & sorry I will never go back. Have to try and find another BBQ place. Why can t new owners just keep it the same, instead of ruining the menu?

This was my first time coming to Horn Dawg and I was not disappointed! The gentleman that served me was amazing and had nothing but a smile on his face, he was so nice he even gave us a complimentary corn bread (which is the best Ive ever had), a cookie and a pop! We ordered the wing combos and broccoli soup (that also is the best Ive ever had) and everything was amazing! Good job guys you will definitely be seeing us again!

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant on a weekly basis. I really enjoy the BBQ varieties this place has. The BBQ is tasty, juicy and delicious. Everyone is friendly and warm. I am glad I found this hidden place :)

Really unfortunate how downhill this place has gone. It was one of my families go to and since the change of ownership it has gone down hill in both food and service. Our ribs tonight were not cut, Mac and cheese was cold and the cashier didn t know how to count change from a $20 bill (I wish I was kidding but we had to provide a $5 bill as she was too confused by a $20). There was not a single other customer there at 5:30pm on a Saturday. It is sad, hopefully they will get their stuff together and get it back to how it was before as it was good- but we wont be returning anymore.

So good!! Portions are huge, service is great and the food is fantastic!! Have to edit, most recent trip was bad. Fries weren t good, the chicken flavourless, there were drowned fries in the gravy. The coleslaw was disgusting. Ribs were still good but not great. Food wasn t ready and the staff seemed confused. Not the same experience I ve had previously.

Been going to this place periodically for the last three or four years now. The food had been really good but the last two times have been disappointing. I usually order the beef, brisket, pork, ribs, and chicken wings. Not sure if they changed chefs or recipes but the BBQ just isnt as tasty as it once was. The fries are still really good though.

The quality went down to the drain, not my first eating there, but paying $40 for Ribs and that were burnt and no meat is not worth it at all, dont spent your money there.

Used to be one of the best wings & fries spots IMO, seems to be under new ownership. We used to get wings twice a week minimum for my entire workplace. Always a consistent portion, visually appetizing, a very pleasant older lady behind the counter. The hot wings were a hit! Costs had gone up while under old ownership but their food was still so delicious that it didn t bother us. Under the current staff, the food quality has plummeted from the taste to the visual, smaller portions, rock hard fries. I no longer recommend Horn Dawgs Pickering.

I ordered this to escape terrible hospital food and got food that looks like hospital food. The pulled pork wasn t even pulled? It was sliced up with some bbq thrown on top. The gravy was on the lumpy mashed potatoes and congealed by the time it got to me. (Why wouldn t you put gravy on the side. So dumb) I figured it probably tasted better than it looked but no. It didn t. Everything is extremely bland. I guess I ll eat my cornbread and cookie that I HAD to order to meet their minimum. A complete waste of $35.

i moved up from the south a couple of years ago and was excited to see a bbq restaurant nearby. the pulled pork sandwich was pretty small for the cost, but decent. we were super disappointed with the stale cornbread and the dinner rolls. the cornbread was extremely dry. the potato salad tasted very off as well. it seems like they re serving old food. what s going on?!

I got pulled pork and mac and cheese with baked beans, and Ive had horn dawgs at ribfest before so I was quite excited. The pulled pork was the worst thing i ate this whole year. It was almost white, with sauce poured on it. The pork was over cooked so it tasted dry, and it was secreting water, so it was soggy. The mac and cheese side was about the size of a double shot glass, and you will have better mac and cheese when you make kraft dinner at home. Go to literally any other place for pulled pork. Save your hard earned money

We ordered the Puppy Dawg meal, and what a feast. The sides (fries, mashed, and beans) were excellent, and the beans were exceptionally good. The ribs were to die for, as was the corn bread. The pulled pork is very nice too, especially with sauce. We ordered the Puppy Dawg and got a huge amount of food. We will have some leftovers to look forward to! I didnt rate the Atmosphere, because Horn Dogs mainly does takeout. They also sell jars of their Original BBQ sauce, which is outstanding for finishing your own home cooked food. Parking: Just East of the Pickering Go Train station on Bayly. Same plaza as the Service Ontario. It is the first place east of the Go Station

Not sure how this place hows good reviews. I purchased the brisket and short ribs and they were horrible. The brisket was tuff and dry. They even put sauce on top and it was still dry. So disappointed as it not cheap doing take out here.

I ordered through Uber and I m actually disgusted. I ordered the 3 rib and wing combo. The ribs literally have zero meat on them and the wings are non existent. How do you forget half of the combo? Dont waste your money Food

Great Southern Style BBQ! I ordered the game day platter which had Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, wings and fries. Overall, every thing was really good Meat was all cooked really well and the staff were very friendly.Only thing I regret is not trying the fried chicken ; next time though!

I have been ordering from Horn Dawgs for a while, and it seems that, lately, the food quality is dropping. I ordered a half chicken dinner, and while I was waiting, I noticed the kitchen had the chicken microwaved. As a result, it was very dry, even for the dark meat. This meal should come with other sides, but I had only fries with it. The cashier was very inattentive, as I had to tell him the order was for a bottle of coke, instead of the can, and it was for 2 cornbreads, not 1. Might try the other location, but I was very dissatisfied with todays service.

The BRISKET IS TO DIE FOR! Cooked and sauced to perfection! I got the Beef Brisket Poutine! The brisket came out soo tender and soft! Perfect for the poutine! Not to mention they really load it with cheese! I walked out full and so very happy!

Food was disappointing, almost everything was overcooked and under seasoned, except the beans which were so heavily seasoned it tasted like cinnamon bun. I wish we came before they changed owners.

They sold their business and it shows, smaller portions, not the same taste, not even the same product or quality :( Used to be my favourite place.

Sad that I wont return, food isnt the same quality as it used to be. Chicken wings were cold, SMALL, they used to be huge with breading and now they arent. I see comments of new owners, I hope they get it right. Unfortunate.

Was just walking by and noticed this place and the deals they had. When i went in i was greeted by jenna, (i hope i spelt it correctly). After taking my order, once i sat inside to eat she made sure i had everything i needed to be comfortable. And the food was amazing. I would definitely come back here any time. The fries are your typical fries, nothing to write home about. The ribs dont taste smoked and probably done in an oven and finished in the grill. The pulled pork feels like it wasnt smoked and is probably done with a slow cooker or something equivalent, definitely not smoked. The brisket is smoked at least but not as smoked as I want it to but it is hard to tell. They put wayyyy too much bbq sauce to the point its almost impossible to taste the meat but rather just bbq sauce. It is great value for the food given but its not true bbq.

Not horn dawgs anymore got large poutine they gave me a small and tryed to tell me its a large this is a small at every reasterant near by were do they get off trying to pass as horn dawgs they have changed for the worst naver again sorry but not you guys ruined a good thing and drug it straight throw the mud thanks for ruining my dinner. Best damn Brisket I ever had, ask for the spicy BBQ sauce - its freakkin good. I even loved the gravy and the baked beans - never knew simple baked beans and gravy could be so flavourful. Its a hidden gem, so its quiet and cozy. Definitely give it a try

I recently visited a local restaurant and had the pleasure of indulging in their fried chicken. The star of the show was undoubtedly the nine pieces of crispy fried chicken. Each bite was perfectly seasoned, with a satisfying crunch that left me wanting more. The juicy meat inside was tender and flavorful, and I couldn t help but lick my fingers clean. To complement the chicken, I ordered two medium sides as well, they were super good. The customer service was exceptional.

Awesome food. Order the beef dinner and wings. The beef ribs were tender and good amount of sauce. I would have liked it a smidge saucer. But thats just me very likely. The mash potatoes was good but should come with a complimentary gravy. Coleslaw was well Coleslaw. The wings were tender and juicy. Hot and honey sauce was good. Didnt get to take any pics as I was too famished. The dine in area is spacious and comfortable. Will definitely visit again and recommend to others

I got the Hawaiian Plate which came with: Grilled Beef Short Ribs, Katsu Chicken and Macaroni Salad with Katsu+Buffalo Hot sauce on the side. (It comes with grilled pineapple , but I asked for it to be taken our. My preference. ) The Katsu chicken was crispy and tasty just like the one I had at a Japanese restaurant on Young street. And the katsu sauce was on point! The Beef Short Ribs were perfect!! Tender and slightly sweet. Felt like I was at a Koren restaurant. The hot sauce definitely has a kick to it! The macaroni was a great touch!! And the meal portion size was perfect as well. Felt full and satisfied and not bloated. Definitely coming back!!! Also the washroom was very very clean!

Wife surprised me and the fam with a big order. The brisket was a 10 and the fat melted in my mouth. Sausage was a dope. Pulled pork was mint. All the sides and sauces wear great! Will order again!

I got the steak sandwich and it wasnt good. Such a chewy piece of steak. The fries were decent but the gravy was also not good.

I got the ribs, chicken sandwich, and pull pork. It was incredible, the chicken was juicy and packed with flavors. The pull pork was not dry and very flavorful. There home made BBQ sauce really hit it home. Ask for extra BBQ sauce! The staff are super friendly and down to earth. I love everything about this place and the portion size are huge ! so its definitely worth the price. You can pretty much get two meals of it each order.

Food was ok. I had a pulled pork sandwich and fries. What I didnt notice at the time was that they added an extra dollar as open food tax and then add HST on top of that. So they essentially stole $1.13 from me as there is no such thing as an open food tax.

This place is so hit and miss its unbelievable. Not sure how a restaurant can be so good some nights and so awful others. We stopped ordering from these guys a while back but got sucked back in recently when we ordered for the first time in a while and it was good. Weve ordered in the last 2 Wednesdays and both meals were terrible. Guess Wednesday night is a night to avoid. Fyi fix youre Uber eats page. Why cant I choose french fries as a side when I order something like Tacos? You can upgrade to a poutine but you cant actually order the fries. Reply- I did use the special instructions, but they failed to follow my request.... But is that really your answer? Rather than fix the problem on your Uber page your solution is to tell the customer to go through a special process just to get french fries with an order. Wouldnt the more logical solution be to add the missing french fry option to your list of sides???? Its not as if you can leave the side option blank when you order. So as it is now I have to select something like mac and cheese or rice and then add special notes saying french fries please and hope that they actually noticed that, which they didnt...

I am a BBQ enthusiast and I do a lot of backyard smoking. I also visit south Texas often and have tasted a lot of award winning BBQ there. I was excited to try Horn Dawgs because they have a great reputation. Sadly for me I was disappointed with my order of a pound of brisket. First, it was completely smothered in sauce. Second, I couldnt taste any smoke to it. Finally, where I expected pencil thick slices or some chopped pieces, I got very thick slices. High quality BBQ brisket doesnt need sauce, you might put some in a side container for dipping. You should be able to taste the smoke and the exterior should have a dark crust seasoned with only salt and pepper. I give 3 stars because the meat was cooked to a decent tenderness. I also ordered sausage but they werent what I was expecting either. Not sure Ill take a chance on them again.

The food is poorly seasoned besides the ribs (which are hit and miss with quality), this time they were heavily charred and fatty . They have poor time management skills. Phoned in a order, they didn t fill it. When I got there to pick it up, it was an additional 40 min wait. Total time from initial order to eating was over 2 hours. I wish their quality of wings was reflected in all the food they serve. They need to relax on giving so many fries- they are cold by the time you get the meal and they have no flavour. It is a waste of food. Even when you say no fries, you get fries.

Just tried the Uxbridge location ..AMAZING!!! Huge portions, fantastic daily specials .and the flavours OMG! Definitely my new go to when grabbing food for the friends for any occasion. Highly recommend!!!

I am a meat guy. My father-in-law is a meat guy. I was disappointed by the meal. I got half rack of rib with the pound of wing. The ribs were ok but more bone than meat. Wings so much grease. I had buffalo sauce and in the container there is a color difference - so oil is added with the sauce.

Thought we would try Horn Dawgs again as we had not been there for a while. My 1lb. pulled pork dinner was good but unfortunately half of my wifes chicken wings were under cooked to the point they dripping blood at the bone. This is not right and food safety dangerous. Good thing we were eating this in a well lit place that we could see this. Unfortunately we will not be eating here again. Too bad unless this was a bad day they used to make good food.

This place is a hidden gem. Best place to go to after lining up at Service Ontario If youve ever been to Los Angeles, this is the closest thing you can have to In N Out burgers! Superb. We are coming back to try the loaded tacos

I tried this restaurant for the first time as a St. Paddys day treat. Wow ! I ordered the brisket dinner which includes 1 pound brisket fries and a side. The Brisket was very tender with just the right amount of bbq sauce and smoke. Well done !! I will be back for sure

I have to say this place hands down is the best! From the outstanding service to the amazing food. We ordered through Door Dash and had an item missing so we contacted the restaurant directly as Door Dash wasn t going to do anything and they personally came and dropped off the missing item the same night all the way to Ajax! Their portions are huge unlike other bbq places we ve had in the area . The chicken is big pieces, the ribs are big and meaty and the wings they aren t your regular small wings from Buffalo Wild Wings . I will say the food does come piping hot which is amazing but then for the fried chicken it needs some holes in the container so the steam comes out and it doesn t get soggy in the bottom other than that this is the place to go for some southern fried chicken, bbq Ribs and Wings you won t regret it! Worth the money for sure!

Ordered Southern Fried Chicken and Fries. Good serving size. Chicken was hot and crunchy but soggy on one side. Fries were warm but soggy. My assumption was that the fries were ready for a while before the chicken and the chicken was put right on the fries before letting it rest. IMO the chicken and fries should be packaged separately to ensure freshness. Both chicken and fries were bland and virtually flavorless. Would not go back for fried chicken. Very disappointing to even visit this restaurant as it was my very first time. A very close friend of mine had visit this place before (few years back) and it was very good at the time. This time it was horrible, we ended up waiting almost 1 hour for our orders. I had just ordered my poutine and Mac & Cheese on the side and we were told that both orders would take 20 minutes, Meanwhile it took 30-45 minutes. I do not recommend this service to anyone!!!!

Good kind folks. Great food. Ordered 3 pounds last Saturday and I think they re best in pickering. Give these guys a holla for some good smoked meat.

The older lady that works here is a disaster of an employee. Her customer service is dreadful at best! The food is the only reason we have returned here to eat. I know I m not the only person or family that has been affected by her poor customer service. I would strongly suggest to the owners before you loose not only our business but the business of others, you deal with her! She s affecting your business.

I order Ribs from these guys often and they are simply the best you can find. Cornbread is pretty good as well. I Highly recommend!!

Brisket nachos and wings were excellent

Its been quite a while since Ive been to Horn Dawgs, located next to the Pickering GO station. Theyre known for their tasty BBQ meats. This brisket was very moist and tender, with lots of flavour! Ill have to go back to try more of their offerings.

Not the smoke house it used to be but better than most.

I am from Toronto but I was in Pickering working and searched for restaurants near me and Horn Dawgs BBQ came up and let me tell you about their ribs. Succulent beef brisket, tasty fries, although not very crispy, and a decent price. Would come back 100% to try some of the other menu items.

Service is only 4 as they are under staffed for the amount of business they have. First I waited 45 minutes but 6 Uber drivers were ahead of me. Call first and give them time. The 2 pigs&a cow poutine is awesome

We wanted to go to the ribfest in Pickering but it was cancelled then looked up BBQ places near by and found this place. We ordered the single dawg and 2 pigs and a cow burger. All the food came out hot and fresh and tasted really good and you know they take there BBQ seriously. The fries were also really good along with the ribs, burgers, and pulled pork.

Food was good and portions were large The staff are awesome.

One of my fav spots in Pickering. The fried chicken is incredible. Highly recommend for large gatherings, too!

Food was delicious. We got the Single Dawg which could easily feed 2 and came with fries, brisket, ribs, buns, and a side. When we ordered we werent sure if it would be enough food so we also the 1lb wing special which also came with fries. It was way too much food for two people. But all delicious. Service was fast and we ate in, but this feels more like a take-out place.

Half rack dinner was very good. Get it with Mac n cheese side, ask for extra sauce, and get a mini cornbread. Mighty fine takeout order.

Ordered the Single Dawg pack at 7:30pm on a Saturday via Skip. The beef brisket, pork and ribs were COLD!!!!. Why not just zap it in the microwave at least? Super disappointed. I will never order from this location again.

These type of places are usually over priced with small portions. So I ordered a large poutine and noticed a dialy special, (2 piece chicken and fries for 5$) so I got that too. Fresh home cut fries, real cheese curds and nice gravy. Really generous portions, couldnt finish half the order and all under 16 bucks! For what I got, definitely recommend, delicious.

Long wait time for subpar food. Was in the mood for pulled pork sandwiches and ordered for pickup, the wait was 20+ minutes, which was fine until I realized what I waited for: unseasoned tough fries and a sad pulled pork sandwich that did not have enough sauce. The picture on the site had coleslaw but this sandwich had none, which was fair because it didnt specify in text. Overall a disappointing experience, I wont be coming back. :(

Average ribs, the sauce is good though. Fries are over cooked and cold. Macaroni pie is just awful and clearly not fresh or well prepared.

My Durham BBQ spot, been going here since they opened. Ribs and chicken wings are absolutely delicious. Not a fan of the fries tho, use to have real thick cut fries and now just skinny lame fries. Cornbread and baked beans are good tho.

Small family restaurant, rib is a bit dry and I can only taste the sauce. French fried is not crispy, wings taste OK. Price is affordable.

Small restaurant in an industrial vibe area with very affordable menu and welcoming staffs. Tried several times with take out and delivery and never disappointed.

I came in during one of their busy rushes in the evening around 5:00 p.m. when supper begins to start picking up. I quite enjoyed the service and the food was absolutely amazing my family really appreciated the young lady at the cash as she was able to give us a better insight into the menu and a few good recommendations. Would recommend for all meat lovers and poutine enthusiasts. Parking: Great number of spots during their rushes in the evening

Great small bbq joint if youre looking for great taste without the giant chain restaurant look and feel. Had the Single Dawg taster plate and each item was delicious. Especially the brisket.

food was ok. service was ridiculous. i waited one hour for my order. there were people that ordered after me and got their food before me. and people that got their food before me and were still waiting. service was terrible.

Food is awesome!

Honestly would ve gave this place 4 maybe 4.5 stars for the food if their service wasn t so bad. Their ribs are cooked very well and with their large selection of flavours and sauces i can understand why they re busy But with soggy sides and wings sitting in a box while you wait for the rest of your order that was supposed to be ready 40 minutes prior, there is no going back.

Overall the wings I got were very good. If I had to nitpick though, Id say the only complaint was the sauce. There really wasnt enough. I know I tend to like wings very saucy, but these barely had any sauce at all. Lots of dry spots. Next time Ill have to ask for more.

Was very excited to try this place out after it was recommended by a colleague of mine. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience. Ordered the Single Dawg to try out all their meats. The ribs were dry and tough. The brisket was tough as well. The pulled pork had no flavor and was tough too. The Mac and cheese had no flavor. The fries had not salt. The sauce was good though. Wouldn t be going back there again.

Had the most delicious food delivered last night. So tasty and looking forward to the leftovers. We ordered recently, by mistake, from the other bbq place in Pickering. What a mistake. Horn Dawgs all the way.

I really love this place! I order from here regularly and they have great prices for BBQ and everything Ive tried is delicious. There are days when a certain dish isnt as good as Ive had it before, but this is simply because meat cuts will of course vary, nothing that can really be helped. Its still always worth the money! I personally love the brisket and ribs and the house made sausages.

Delicious, but slow... I guess good food takes time. Amazing ribs, wings, pulled pork and brisket. The sides are great but very small.
