We are doing TAKEOUT ONLY We don’t do Dine-In service
Great food. Sushi was fresh and the sizes were great. Must try the kimchi fried rice. It was spicy but we enjoyed it. Nice hidden gem tucked away in Pickering. However I feel like they can improve service. They ask you to come up to the counter to order, even though you are dinning in for dinner. They also ask if you want to pay after ordering, what if the customer wants to order more after. I feel like they can improve as a business in that aspect.
Called for pick up dinner and was told it would be ready in 30mins , i ordered an avocado roll, dynamite & yamAvocado hand roll . I wanted to cancel cause it was to long of a wait for such basic items but they said it would be ready in 10 mins to avoid cancellation. I woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning. And I realized the last time I ordered from here I also got sick but didn’t think anything of it because I trusted them but now I’m convinced that I won’t be returning. I am someone that like to support small owned businesses and Sakura use to be my favourite go to Sushi Bar. However the past few times I went here was very unpleasant.
The best sushi in Durham region! The ingredients are fresh and well priced for what you get. My favourite is the spicy salmon and Sakura roll. The staff is lovely and provides exceptional service. This is my go to sushi spot in Pickering!! What I ordered Beef teriyaki bento box Spicy salmon roll Sakura roll
Not sure why everyone is complaining, I have been here a few times and have had good experiences ! The only thing I would say is the sushi is on the pricer side ( and it is hard to hear the employees on the phone )besides that it is worth it if you’re wanting some fresh Sushi rolls.
First and only time we will visit this place. The restaurant is take out only. Staff are friendly. the ceiling is leaking and there are water stains on the ceiling tiles. I couldn't see into the kitchen but there could be leaking there. We bought two Bento box a, chicken teriyaki and tofu. The food smelled great on the ride home but once we started eating it it was awful. Teriyaki sauce was extremely salty making the food inedible. Teriyaki was mostly cabbage, the cheapest thing you could get. I counted seven tiny cubes of tofu. Broccoli was cut in thin pieces and burnt. Tempura was so greasy. Best part was the California rolls.
I used to love this place. It was one of the more authentic sushi Japanese places I could find in the Durham area until Covid happened. About a month ago I went in there, thinking I was going to sit down like before and eat dinner with my family to my surprise now they treat it as a takeout spot, today I ordered the Bento box with an order of kimchi, and the kimchi is not by any means authentic at all whatsoever. All it was was hard cut up cabbage that looks like coleslaw and chilli powder. You can always tell by the kimchi, how authentic it is going to be. I am not impressed and probably will not order from here again. For the Bento box and a small order of kimchi it came out to be about $45 with delivery way too overpriced for your hard earned cash.
It was dead/empty when we got here for dinner. I've always wanted to try this place as I keep seeing it whenever i pass by Kingston. The ambiance is great, it's trying to give off that authentic Japanese vibe. This is not a buffet. This is not an all-you-can-eat sushi place. They offer ala-carte instead. But their servings are quite big. I ordered their Japanese Curry. It really liked it, but I couldn't get myself to finish it as it was A LOT. It is, in fact, good to share between 2 persons. The staffs were very attentive and kept checking on us. They have a lady sushi chef and I really thought that was awesome! :) The price is okay considering the amount of food they serve. The rice they use for sushi is of high quality. I highly recommend trying this place. :D
Great service and the quality of sushi is amazing! After trying this place we will never set foot in the local all you can eat sushi places. This place makes each piece with care and the owner and server come check on you. Prices are also very good. We ordered a boat of sushi + sushimi. Highly recommend it if your in Durham area!
Great little mom-and-pop sized sushi place. Portions are massive, and everything tastes amazing. Me and the wife go here anytime we feel like sushi. Honestly: skip Makimono, go here.
I think this is the best Sushi restaurant in Durham. The people are nice and I love the sushi.
One of the best sushi places in pickering. Very generous portions and quick service. Friendly people who remember your orders. They are open on Canada Day too!
Miso soup was too watered down. The tempura was oily and served with plain soy sauce, not the sweeter tempura dipping sauce you usually get elsewhere. Rice texture was well cooked. I had higher expectations as this place was recommended to me by a friend but I wont be going back.
Incredibly friendly staff, family owned business. Option for either dine in or AYCE. great portions for the price.
Absolutely the best sushi I ve had anywhere east of downtown. In fact, it s on par with most I ve had in Vancouver. Fantastic.
I ve been eating here for 15 years so I m sad to not leave a perfect review - sushi/maki and tempura are always great and consistent however the rice in their bento boxes has really been awful over the last 3-4 months whenever we ve ordered it, it s mushy like it s from the bottom of the pot. Please fix this! Wheelchair accessibility: Single level and no steps to entrance
Gross! Unfriendly. Extremely long waits for take out. Used to be the best in Pickering. Now the worst. Will never go here again!
Everytime I order from here something is wrong. I order the spicy edamame twice now and it s always just plain . They don t even pack chop sticks . No good sushi in Durham
This is one of the sushi places I had in a while !! The food was fresh and served in a timely matter and the ambiance was very quaint as well and thank you to the staff for being helpful !!
Great Food. I wanted more soy sauce and they generously gave me as much as I requested. The restaurant used to be nice when it was sit-down service. Although, we are happy with picking up the food and taking it home.
Take out only but you are welcome to sit (not wait staff service). It wasn t too busy so we dined in with the takeout. The atmosphere is very peaceful. Staff are very kind.
Great service, amazing food High reco Food
Used to be my favorite sushi place in Pickering and havent gone back for almost 2 years. Decided to have this for our Anniversary dinner. We ordered Beef Teriyaki bento and kimchi fried rice as it was my favorite order next to the sushi love boat. To my dismay, the quality is not the same as before :-( Im so sorry to write this review but I felt my $40 went down the drain. The kimchi fried rice was filled with frozen veggies (corn, green bean, peas and carrots) and the rice was a very tiny portion that is not a good type of rice! It was filled with fresh cabbage and kojujang but alas, not a single kimchi at all! The beef used in the bento, was almost like pork. I was expecting the beef strips they had in the past, almost like korean bulgogi but sweeter. Only the miso soup and the japchae were cooked to perfection and salad dressing was just same as before but the rest including the tempura were a waste! Not to mention they gave us both soy sauce for the maki and tempura :-( sooo disappointed. Seems the chef must have changed or the management.
Best sushi I ve had in Toronto/GTA. Have been coming here for years and the quality of the sushi/sashimi has been high, consistently; super fresh and flavourful.
Sushi is amazing! Best spot in the city.
Had a 40pcs tray sushi and maki. It was mostly made of large maki, without flavour. The fish on the few sushi wasn t really fresh. Very disappointed. Recommended dishes Sushi Platter
highest quality sushi in durham region.
Parking: The parking area provided is for the use of multiple stores. The area is large and is not normally filled to capacity. In my experience I have never had to search for parking there. Wheelchair accessibility: There are accessible parking spaces available.
Google says dine in. We get there and its take out only. But the restaurant is open to serving 3 tables worth of family. What a shame it was a good place to go and eat with a nice dine in atmosphere.
I used to love this place .... the sushi and sashimi was among the best in the Durham region, and the interior was so relaxing. I havent been there since the pandemic. When I arrived, I was shocked to find the beautiful dining room closed, standing empty, and service for takeout only. The pandemic is over, so this was really sad. We went elsewhere, as we wanted to eat out. Most of the 5 star reviews are pre-pandemic.
I recently had the pleasure of take-out at Sakura Restaurant, and I am absolutely thrilled to share my exceptional experience with the world. From start to finish, everything about this restaurant exceeded my expectations. They were patient, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about my likes, dislikes and dietary restrictions to ensure I would be satisfied with my food order. It is clear that the team here takes great pride in delivering top-notch service and you can tell the freshness of the ingredients in every bite. Each dish was expertly prepared, bursting with flavour, and beautifully presented. One of the standout aspects of Sakura Restaurant is the owners kindness and attentiveness. It is rare to encounter an owner who is so hands-on and genuinely concerned about their patrons happiness. It is disappointing however when reading some of the other reviews that they are giving a 1 star rating, solely based on Sakura being take-out service only at this time. It is clearly listed on their website.
Sushi is not the grocery store sushi. It s decent for what s is around here. Next time don t take orders that you can t handle and then make your customers wait for a long period of time. I don t even come to this establishment anymore.
Simply the best sushi in Durham. Friendly service, AMAZING food, and fair prices. We come back almost weekly to get our fix of sushi. Highly recommend m!
One of the best Sushi I ve had. My go to place in Pickering. Great options for vegetarians.
Try the yam handroll. So good!!!
Always fresh and reliable. Have been going here for years and is always fresh and made with care.
With a 40 piece tray, this is the amount of soya sauce you get, lol. Didnt even fill it up! How cheap can the people running this place be?? Hope you saving on soya sauce is worth more than losing a customer.
Highly recommended. The sashimi was fresh. Salmon sushi pizza is definitely better than anything available in Durham Region. Spicy tuna rolls and Alaska rolls were excellent. I ve tried most of the sushi spots in the area and often find that the restaurants cut corners. Fish that has been pushed past its best before date. Plain sushi pizza where the rice has been overcooked in old oil. All places that I ve regretted getting dinner at. Sakura was the opposite of all that. Will be going back.
I have been going here for MANY YEARS. A few years ago I moved up North, but I always make sure to place a pickup order whenever I pass through Pickering. So fresh, everything is always delicious and lovely people and atmosphere. Even my BF who dislikes sushi loves their Bento boxes!
Recently moved to Pickering and found this local Sushi place. Its truly a hidden gem, Sushi is always fresh and delicious, have been going there very frequently
Ordered a take out platter and will just say come here if you re in the neighbourhood and want convenient access to japanese food.
Best spot for sushi in Pickering no doubt. Large, fresh and flavourful, will definitely be coming back.
Ordered from here last night and it is by far the best sushi in Pickering/Ajax area. Highly recommend, it was super fresh and worth every penny. Thank you!
Had Sakura for the second time last night. First time it was really great, which is what brought us back for this second order. Pickering doesn t have the best sushi options so we wanted Sakura to be our go to spot when we re home. The second order wasn t as great and a whole roll of ours had black/spoiled avocado in every piece of the roll. Everyone who ate the tray felt sick the whole rest of the night and uneasy the next day. We understand that avocado can be eaten at many levels of browning, but, if im paying $85 for small pieces of it, I d love for it to be fresh and green. If they let this go in the rolls, what else are they getting away with?
Always so flavourful and fresh!! Love friendliness of the owner and the staff. Its definitely our favourite sushi place hands down!! You gotta try them!!
Fresh & flavourful large rolls. Friendly, patient & professional staff. They took the time to answer all of our questions over the phone. They were accommodating and able to modify part of our order to make it GF (gluten free) for my wife. It will now be our go to sushi place in Pickering. All around a great experience!
This restaurant had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The lady worker was extremely rude that I was in shock. I got up from my table and left. Sakura lost business from me and my family and friends. Reply to Owner: My dine in experience was back when you did have dine in. I was just late to review. Thank you.
Wanted good sushi so I was willing to pay the high price. The rolls are massive. Im not a small guy and they are way too big for 1 bite. And the same with the sashimi. Large fish logs. Ordered it take-out. And everything was squished under the lid. Probably a good indicator that your making your rolls too big. The tempura shrimp had a heavy oil taste.
Amazing food, Amazing staff, amazing presentation! Need I say more Fast service and it looks gorgeous inside... having worked there in the past I can confirm how well the restaurant is kept it is super clean and tidy always! If you love Japanese food, get to Sakura soon and grab some tempura or a sushi boat whatever its all delicious trust me! Vegetarian options: They have a number of vegetarian dishes and can make you whatever that sounds good that has meat theyll make it without meat for you no problem! Parking: Theres always parking close to the environment of the restaurant so dont worry you wont be walking far at all! Kid-friendliness: Unfortunately during this present time theyre doing take out only!
Picked up dinner from here tonight. This place is takeout only. I think the owner should specify that on Google. Found the sushi to be okay. The rice was slightly undercooked (the middle wasnt cooked). T
Great food. Helpful staff.
Mediocre sushi nothing special. Rice was pretty bland. Couldn t get the vinegar or kombu umami out of it. There was no wasabi on my sushi (between rice and sashimi). Rice and fish fell apart easily picking up with chopstick (very rushed job). Bought 80pieces party tray and got 2 sticks of crab meat as part of sashimi (Rip off). I would go elsewhere next time.
Excellent food. Everything we have tried has been above expectations. Our go to Pickering sushi.
Great quality, friendly people, I cant wait until the eat in restaurant section is open again. Its a fantastic date spot for either a friend date or a romantic one!
Great sushi! Ordered a variety of food but especially liked the green dragon rolls (very fresh). This restaurant is probably the best sushi spot in Pickering. :)
So delicious!
Average sushi in Durham
Love this little place. Good value, great sushi
Very good sushi rolls will be coming back here to try more things on the menu!
Sakura Sushi, is definitely a GEM of a find in Pickering! My friend and I were on our way home to the Markham/Stouffville area. We were vendors at Christmas Market in a Pickering arena. We were greeted by friendly staff, and served very delicious sushi, and tempura! Great Portions and Excellent Value! Special thanks to Una, and the Team! We ll definitely stop by every time we are in the area Angela & Sol
I ordered Uber last night from here, and it was Good. We ordered tofu, veggie gyoza, California roll and dragon roll. The sauce container for the tofu had melted from the heat, which was quite messy. They didn t give any soya sauce and minimal amounts of wasabi. The food was pretty good, and I found the avocado not fresh in the two rolls. I would eat here again, however, in person.
Best sushi in Pickering! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. I have been there a bunch of times and am always impressed with the quality of the fish and fresh ingredients. Haven t had anything at Sakura that I did not like.
Amazing job done. The best sushi place in Durham.
A lovely family run sushi restaurant with amazing fresh food and friendly service. Just as good in 2022/23 as ever!!
Great Sushi.
Despite what was inevitably a crazy day for placing sushi orders, the owner and staff maintained great composure and high spirits through it all, including some well earned sweat! Thanks for always providing great service, through thick and thin!
Best sushi/sashimi in durham region! Try the dan katsu shrimp roll Mmmmmm
Edit: great food. In the middle of covid, please lets support small business together. We can get through this!! Original: Good food, servic is hit or miss, but no highchair. I dont understand the logic behind a restaurant without a high chair... Maybe they just dont want kids around?
Best spicy tuna sushi. But miso soup is lacking flavor.
Great service. Best Sushi. I live in Whiby but prefer to get my Sushi here!!!
Were in Ajax and this is our go to Sushi place now for take-out during COVID. Sushi/Maki/Sashimi platter is great for our family of 5 and great value at $1 a piece for the best sushi in durham region. Sashimi is always fresh and owners very pleasant and accommodating. Definitely recommend and well be ordering again this weekend!
Ive known Yuna for years now. I also celebrate alot of occasions there. Amazing fresh food, along with their ginger tea. Also the layout makes it quite cosy and unique.
Good food and friendly staff
Very fresh and delicious! Friendly staff and quick service.
Best sushi in Pickering!
Never Order from Them!!! They told me I couldnt Order due allergy cause they couldnt be extra careful. OHHHH HELLLL NAAAAHHHHHH
Love. Love. Love. Fast, friendly, consistent quality.
Ordered takeout and it was amazing!
Great customer service and awesome food.
This is a very good sushi restaurant in Pickering/Durham! Authentic. I recommend to anyone who is a sushi lover like myself.
Worst sushi place ever, over priced and such bad quality
The best sushi in Durham Region! Yuna is so amazing and kind as well as all her staff. A family favorite!
We just moved to Pickering and was looking for our to-go sushi spot, and I think we found it! We ordered the tuna poke bowl and the 40 piece sushi, maki, sashimi tray. The Tuna poke bowl, had so many things in it edamame, crabmeat, avocado, seaweed, cucumber and so many other things, it was a texture explosion in my mouth, yummm!! Check out how much tuna you actually get lol The most I ve ever gotten in any poke bowl (make sure you ask for the spicy mayo!) The tray also didn t disappoint, the maki rolls were filled and not too much rice, the sashimi was thick and large pieces and the fish is very fresh. We will definitely be coming back!! Keep it up Sakura.
Best sushi in Durham. I recently moved back to Ajax and this is my new go to spot. If you need fresh, delicious sushi then look no further. I got the red dragon roll and California roll, both are winners. Great taste and superb service.
Really great sushi, sashimi, and maki here! We always order enough to have leftovers for the next day! We ve ordered from here regularly and here are our top favourites so far - marked with an asterisk in black sharpie.
Last time I visited Sakura was prior to Covid. Mediocre at best type of experience. My recent visit was unfortunately not consistent with my previous experience. I was under the impression that fresh fish is essentially odourless. I can tell you the sashimi and sushi had a hint of fishy smell, and this rainbow oil stain appearance on the surface. Low marks for Sakura Sushi in Pickering. Very disappointing, considering there are very few competitors in Durham, and this seems to be the local measure for a competent sushi restaurant. Sad.
I ordered a take out platter not long ago and the sushi was delicious and very fresh. Nothing disappointing at all and I will be ordering more in the future. I really enjoyed the spicy salmon maki in our platter, however everything else in the platter was good too. There are not many good sushi restaurants in the Durham region and I will put this restaurant above all that I have tried in this area. If you live in or are visiting this area, come try their sushi as it is great. You will not be disappointed.
This has been our go to take out sushi place for the past few years. Quality of fish is the best Ive found in Pickering and Ajax. Really great service too.
Best sushi in town hands down. Please please open back up for dining!! I miss you!
Sushi was delicious
Amazing food
I remember this place being very good and it is still better than others in the area, but in last 2 times after getting big trays of sushi I see that I get a lot of rice (at the bottom) and it is a bit too hard for my liking. Sadly I doubt that Ill try it again
Seemed like it would be tasty but there was a hair in my sushi :( so I couldnt eat
The sushi was fine - nothing to write home about. They have more rice than other places/
Delicious
We LOVE Sakura!! We have been ordering from them for 5 years- always delicious!! The prices are great too!! Thank you for your awesome service!
All three of my kids, hubby and I will drive 30 minutes from home to have their sushi! Its always fresh and made with love. Their hand rolls are incredible!
Outstanding food, generous sushi take out servings and excellent staff..
This was my first time dining at Sakura and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great and super fresh. We had a bunch of different roles but the spicy tuna was my favorite. The salad was great too. The dressing was not the typical orange dressing you get at other sushi restaurants; the server told us it was made of beets and apples. Will definitely dine there again next time Im in Pickering
This restaurant has fake reviews, I will be going here shortly for my first time but I find it very off for a good restaurant to use fake reviews. When multiple people post the same picture and the rating is 5 stars the review is fake 100%. Many of the legitimate reviews still say that the restaurant is good and I will be updating my review once I dine here. Edit: I have dined at this restaurant twice and enjoyed the food both times. The portions are a good size and the rice and fish is always fresh. As some other reviewers have said, they is heavy use of spicy mayo but I did not find it to be a detriment to the meal.
Large quantities and delicious food very quick service
Awesome Food and Amazing Service! This is our go to for most of our office luncheons!
I absolutely love this place. The price is amazing for the amount of food you get and everything tastes so fresh.
My secret little spot. Come here all the time for takeout and the lunch specials are so worth the $$. The counter staff + sushi chef are so friendly, and she makes absolutely massive spicy salmon rolls for me without fail every time. I hope to see AYCE lunch in the future!
Just recently tried this place thinking its a regular AYCE place but its not. We tried the bento box and a few rolls. Spicy salmon roll was really good. Not a fan of their teriyaki sauce though...its also on the higher pricy side but the roll, sushi and sashimi were great and fresh! Overall it was okay. Are we coming back to dine? Maybe not, but would probably do a take out of their maki rolls and sushi..
Excellent quality fish. Always good service and they remember what you preferences are. Highly recommend
Ive been coming here for over 10 years and it has never disappointed me. The food, the atmosphere, the service is always 10/10! Their sushi cones are one of my favourites - everything tastes fresh and prepared well
Awesome lunch specials! I think the owner herself makes the sushi and she is such a professional!
As a friend who is bipolar and whose disease and medication can result in his speech being slightly slower than usual, I was shocked to hear that this friend who does not abuse alcohol, was refused service at Sakura. My friend ordered a meal and a beer but was denied by the owner, Yuna, who stated that he was drunk. When my friend tried to explain that his disability caused the symptoms she was concerned about, Yuna barred him from the restaurant. My son worked for Sakura for many years and my family have been familiar with Yuna and her family and restaurant for years. I thought I could speak to her and mediate this situation to each parties benefit. Shortly after the original incident, my friend expressed interest in taking me to Sakura for dinner so I said Id call him back and phoned Yuna in an attempt to advocate for him and explain the misunderstanding to her. Yuna was aggressive towards me on the phone and was unmoved by the explanation that refusal of service was discrimination based on Mental Illness. Yuna first only agreed to allow us to order take out food. I countered that we wanted to eat in the restaurant. Yuna acquiesced to a small degree, stating we could sit and eat in the restaurant but she would not serve us alcohol. Then she added the most offensive comment that, When you come, dont bring your mental illness with you. Shocked, I still attended the restaurant to show that my friend could eat a nice meal there and show her that there was nothing to be concerned about. I dont even drink alcohol nor am I mentally ill yet she treated me also like an undesirable. Our money was, however just fine. Afterwards, the full effect of the truly offensive comments and blatant discrimination began to sink in. I became indignant. Yuna is a fully assimilated Korean immigrant, who is a University of Toronto graduate. She has run her business for about 15 years. She should know better. I wrote an email to the Sakura website calmly and professionally explaining how she had violated The Human Rights Code by refusing to serve us in her restaurant and as such, put herself at risk of Civil Litigation. I also instructed her to consult the Human Rights Commission and or her lawyer if she did not understand. I reiterated that this was not a threat but advised her not to continue to treat others in the same manner. I did not receive a response and am quite sure that neither my friend nor I are welcome back in Sakura. Draw your own conclusions about this experience. I will not be returning and hope that people who support the rights of all the disadvantaged will follow suit.
Very nice service, and the sushi/sashimi/maki were beautiful and fresh, and generous. Very nice presentation. The rice in the sushi and maki was very tasty - often a letdown at other places. Thank you!
Was looking for a local sushi place. Ordered a party tray and it was very good. Glad we tried Sakura. I will be back. Come support your local establishments.
Absolutely amazing sushi takeout. Got the sixty piece. Highly recommended
Best quality sushi in the Durham Region would recommend going out of your way to go here. Lots of cheaper lunch specials too that I would recommend as well.
Best handrolls I have ever had. So super fresh and delicious. Amazing sushi!
This is my favourite local sushi place. The quality never wavers! Great menu (once you can go in person, look at the cute and punny cartoons throughout, they always make me laugh), excellent food (I LOVE their vegetable gyoza!!! My favourite thing on the menu), attentive and friendly service. The decor inside is nice, and there are some semi-private booths if you time it right! They even have imported beer and sake, yum. Theyve done awesome takeout through the entire pandemic shutdown, its been a great treat. Will be a customer for life here I think.
My husband and I have been ordering from here for years now. Food is always amazing. Yuna has made us feel like part of the family. Very accommodating and welcoming place with the best sushi.
Clean, delicious, and the price is right... Got seafood Udon yet they didnt put too much seafood in it... In my next order the owner gave me a refund just by giving my feedback... Amazing customer service! Amazing and fresh shashimi and they give you suggestions for sushi and it was a big hit. You have gained and new customer and will be back very soon. Thank you
Great sushi
Wonderful Sushi from what was the first Sushi restaurant in Pickering. The owner is kind and the food is yummy. Due to Covid they are only doing take out. You can call ahead your order.
We ordered the terriyaki chicken and tempura, the food was excellent. Best Japanese food in pickering.
Second time ordering takeout tonight and I just had to come leave a review. Both times weve ordered a la carte and everything has been absolutely perfect. Fish is incredibly fresh, the tempura stayed hot and crispy even with it being takeout (and we fully anticipated them being a bit soggy by the time we got home which would have been completely fine, so to find our tempura shrimp still steaming hot and crispy was a treat!). The sashimi is perfect fish to rice ratio, and their wonton soup felt like a homemade bowl youd want went youre sick. I didnt think Japanese wonton soup would be very different from the Chinese wonton I typically get but this was still incredible- the wontons were more like gyoza in a super flavourful broth. I highly recommend calling ahead as they get very busy, but wait times have been very accurate so just follow their lead with when they say your food will be ready. Our favourite new roll has been the Dan Katsu Shrimp Roll, and they make a mean spicy salmon roll as well. You really cant go wrong with anything on this menu.
The 4 spicy salmon rolls were all tempura and no salmon, not to mention the girl on the phone was rude when ordering.
I ordered the tempura dinner for myself last night. It was enough to feed two people. Loads of shrimp and vegetables. Delicious.
Just ordered 80 pieces of Sushi for 3 people. It was really good and satisfying. Their efforts are appreciated. Would eat from there again for sure.
Great food and friendly staff. I love the dan katsu roll and rice balls. Nice atmosphere also when you can eat in.
This is my go to place for sushi. It is always fresh, delicious, and the rolls are not overloaded with too much rice like some. They are doing takeout only during Covid, and my tempura was coming out right as I walked in at my takeout time, which meant it was still hot when I got home. I would definitely suggest you try Sakura!
In my humble opinion the best sushi in the east end. Very big prices and flavorful. Great menu of sushi and the Korean food is also a win!
Best sushi restaurant in Durham. Large pieces and friendly staff
Excellent place to have authentic Japanese Cuisine highly recommended
The best sushi youll find!
Very good, nice sushi boat too
Excellent fresh food, great service.
Fresh fresh fresh! I love coming here!!! Everytime I come here I feel like Im family. The atmosphere created by the owner is amazing. Cant wait to come back.
Decent food and fast service. Good, quiet atmosphere.
Best sushi in Town! Very fresh!
Big portions. Very tasty and fresh.sometimes its a little of a wait.. bu of you have the time..its worth it for the quality
Intimate place that serves great quality food for good prices. Everything we ate was perfect, no one left unsatisfied.
The service here is phenomenal; they re polite and attentive, and when you ask for something you can bet it ll be on your table soon. The food came out very quickly, but before that you are given a small sampler with kimchi, sweet potato noodles (these are delicious!), and deep fried rice balls. The atmosphere is very nice with calming music and nice decor. Always a good experience! Only reason I didn t give it 5 stars is because the teriyaki sauce for the chicken was much too salty for my taste, and the tempura breading wasn t great. But the sushi definitely made up for it!
Hands down THE best sushi Experience Ive had anywhere. Period. This is the spot I go for all of my birthdays. Other than their sushi their in-house Japanese green tea is also THE best Ive had. This place is a hidden gem, and Im usually quite critical.
Delicious food in an intimate environment. Always a pleasure to eat here. Teriyaki chicken a must try.
Second time here, service was so bad I had to get up from my table twice. Didn t even bother to give me glass with my beer. Didn t give us little soup and starter veg bowl. Waitress was horrible , she forgot the drink and brought the food without acknowledging that I had ordered the drink. I have never seen so bad service, after all this I even left tips because I am not an a**hole, sometime people have bad days. As I am about to leave , other customers walk in and sit at the table beside me and guess what, they have been served with that starter bowl of Veg and soup without even asking and gentleman asked for beer. Within few seconds it was on his table with the BEER GLASS!!! I can not make out what went wrong with this waitress. But I was very nice to her all the time I was there. Anyway hopefully owner see this and correct this little fiasco. I really didn t care about those starter stuff, however I left like I was being ignored because of my race.
Best sushi in Durham Region!
My favorite place in Durham for sushi. The owner and staff are kind and care about your experience. You feel valued and appreciated as a customer and they will quickly remember your favorite order. I definitely recommend this place to everyone!
Service was great and atmosphere was nice. However, my family ordered squid balls which were served frozen at the centre still. I am vegetarian and received my meal that was supposed to be tofu and veggie terayaki, but had beef in it. Overall this was very disappointing as it showed carelessness when preparing the food. Also, my family felt ill when leaving the restaurant from the food. Will not return.
Stopped for lunch and ordered the Bento box. Everything served was delicious but the spicy beef was supreme. Generous portion too. Will be back.
The food here is beyond amazing. I cant help but take photos and videos of the sushi boat everytime my family and I visit. Presentation is lovely. Taste is fresh. Cant go wrong with this place
I have been going here for over 10 years now and I can honestly say this is the BEST SUSHI IN TOWN! Always so fresh and the service is beyond amazing! I try to visit as much as possible and will never go to any other sushi place in Durham except for Sakura <3
Ive had take out from here previously, ate in this time. Good as usual, veggie rolls taste good.
Zomg they have tako yaki! I also had beef teriyaki, was all delicious.
Quiet, small delicious food. I ordered chicken teriyaki. It came with rice, miso soup and a small salad. It also called with endless green tea with brown rice. It was good.
A small mom and pop shop with lovely owners. The food tastes great and I would highly recommend eating there!
Friendly, fast, good quality and value
Sashimi was huge and good quality as well. We would come back if were in the area. Excellent customer service as well
This place might be one of the best sushi places in all of the gta. Its only à la carte but the portions are more that sufficient. Great place for a dinner date.
The sushi place can best be described as a blink and you miss it local foodies dream. This location hidden in a plaza most of Pickering drive by is worth following the speed limit on Kingston Road to spot. Inside is full of wood trim and a sense of hand crafted joy that the owners put into every piece of food created. You wont find a all you can eat option, since you need to consider a true taste of the moment feel. Relax and enjoy the tastes of sushi before it became a food court question of risk. Prices are excellent and there is just enough seating to ensure everyone is satisfied with their food.
great food great lunch special!
I have ordered from here many times and have never been disappointed. Food is always fresh n delicious
Best sushi in all of Durham Region and possibly the GTA
I CAME IN WITH MY WIFE FOR SUPPER AND WE HAD THE SUSHI BOAT. MY WIFE REALLY LIKES MISO SOUP AND THEY EVEN GAVE HER AN EXTRA BOWL FOR FREE. THE SERVICE WAS SO FRIENDLY AND PLEASANT THAT IT MADE OUR MEAL EXTRA ENJOYABLE. THE FOOD ARRIVED TO THE TABLE QUITE QUICKLY AND THE WAITRESS WAS ALL SMILES AND JUST THE NICEST. FOOD WAS FANTASTIC AND WE PLAN ON GOING BACK AGAIN VERY SOON. THE FOOD WAS GREAT AND THE SERVICE WAS THE BEST.
Nice little sushi place with quick service. The ingredients, to my tastebuds at least, always seem impeccably fresh. Highly recommended.
Found this little gem the other day. Great fresh flavoured food, (homemade quality) lovely service, waitress was super nice and took pride in serving us our food. We will be back and cant wait to try many new items. Small and quaint, place has regulars from what I can see. Found out the tea was made with green tea, brown rice and hint of popcorn. I thought that was cool and that the salad dressing takes a whole day to make. We will be back I hope many times.
Found this little spot the other day to meet up with family for lunch. Such a terrific place - the sushi was absolutely terrific, the service and prices were fair, and the environment was really nice. Loved the crunchy spicy salmon!
Some of the best sushi Ive had in Durham Region. Fairly priced and high quality, the service was great too.
Best handmade fresh sushi.
What a fantastic restaurant! A very quaint and clean place with a great menu. Drink options are a bit limited but that was not an issue because the sushi made up for it! The menu is pretty comprehensive and the options are plentiful. The staff were pleasant and polite and we will enjoy coming back and eating here again. This is a great sushi place for sushi lovers and Japanese food. Kanpai!
Some of the freshest and best sushi Ive ever had! I order every week now!
Great sushi place! The food and service is consistently good and the atmosphere is nice.
Atmosphere and Cleanliness (4/5): - The place looked clean and tidy. There were no smells/odours from where I was seated at. From a quick glance, all the tables were clean and soy sauce containers were full. Typically means that the staff have finished setting up the place prior to opening. Great impression so far. Staff and facilities (4/5): - The lady that took my order (whom appears to also prepare the sushi behind the counter) was very friendly. She had offered me some tea to start. Food (3/5) and Value (4/5): - I had ordered the $15 lunch combo, (which is also available during weekends) consisting of 4 pieces of nigiri, 8 pieces of sashimi, 1 order of spicy salmon and rice on the side. * The fish was ok, not as fresh as I come to expect, but it was still good (not smelly, which typically indicates either poor food handling or the food is starting to go off). * The rice was a bit too firm and would have preferred it just a bit softer. Typical sushi places kind of overcook the sushi rice to a point that its close to being mushy (which is bad), so I was surprised to find the rice was more firm. * Overall, for the price paid, the food is pretty good. Overall (3/5): - Comparing to other Durham region sushi offerings, this one is the best one I have tried so far. Considering all AYCE offerings are terrible, I would definitely come back to this establishment.
Excellent food. Good service.
Great food, good prices and good service every single time!
Very good quality sushi!! The staff is also very friendly. They accommodated a custom order and even gave us tea while we waited for our take-out. Much better than Sushi T&T!!
This is an A La Carte Sushi place. Its a hidden gem if you can go without the AYCE Sashimi elsewhere ;) Service was polite and speedy when we walked in, it was empty which I dont mind. Seating was quite nice and different from what Im used to. The sushi chef also does cooking classes. If you are going to get the Sushi boat, i recommend not ordering anything else, (for a party of 2).
5 stars yuna is great
Food decent but menu confusion
Amazing small and cosy restaurant! This is now our familys regular go-to sushi place. We have tried most of the items on the menu. Everything is tasty and fresh and the prices very fair. They have great lunch time specials. Owner and service staff are very friendly and accommodating. Allergy friendly too which is a bonus!
A wee little place that deserves your attention! Clean, cozy and so delicious. Had the lunch special Bento Box and am so full I practically had to roll out of there. The green tea served is one of the best Ive had! Go and eat here!!!
My wife and my two children, 3 and 4 have attended here several times. The food has always been great, and the service is very friendly. They are very accommodating. By far the best sushi place in Durham. The place has a great cozy atmosphere and the way the food is prepared and presented, you can feel the passion that is put into it. I would, and do recommend this to all our family and friends. Definitely try their in-house kim-chi. Not made in the traditional way, its delicious. You will not be disappointed.
Sakura Sushi is the best sushi restaurant in pickering. The service is great. Salad dressing is amazing. They do not offer all you can eat and its probably what has kept their quality so high. Each portion is very large. Quite the hidden gem as its tucked away in the strip mall. Volcano roll and the salmon sashimi dinner is a great combo for two.
Our go to for Sushi. We moved to Ajax and still come here to Pickering for takeout. Its the best!
Good food.
Small place with really good sushi.
Fresh and tasty, expect waiting periods during friday nights etc. Worth to wait .
Amazing sushi and portions! My favourite sushi place of all time!! They always give me a free hand roll which is obsessed with.
First time there, amazing service and food!
Food was excellent but a bit pricey. They also accommodated and made substitutions for me as I was pregnant. Service was mediocre.
This is the best sushi I have had out of all the places I ve tried in Durham, Toronto, St Catharines and Guelph...so that s saying a lot. Their bento box is a generous serving for a good price and their individual rolls are amazing (Green Dragon is fantastic). Also the owner is so so nice and the place is cozy and quiet!!
Amazing sushi!
