THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO AVOID THIS PLACE! I am absolutely appalled by our experience at Currah Park Store and Grill. What should have been a pleasant stop in a tourist-friendly area turned into an absolute nightmare. I cannot believe a place like this exists, especially in such a beautiful and popular location. First off, the cook was shockingly rude. When I politely inquired about my food, he swore at me and hurled profanities as if it was the most normal thing in the world. I've never been spoken to like that in any establishment, let alone one that caters to tourists. It's beyond unprofessional—it's downright unacceptable. To make matters worse, when my order was mistakenly given to someone else, the cashier had the audacity to ask me to chase down the person who took it. I was stunned. Not only did they mess up the order, but they also expected me to fix their mistake. This level of incompetence is mind-boggling. I am disgusted that this place is allowed to operate, especially within a space shared with Ontario Parks. It casts a terrible shadow over the entire area and gives tourists a completely wrong impression of what this beautiful region has to offer. Avoid Currah Park Store and Grill at all costs. This was hands down the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant, and I sincerely hope the management takes serious steps to address these glaring issues.
Keep in mind this is a provincial park actual grill restaurant- remarkable on its own. Run almost entirely by teenagers. So bearing that in mind, pretty great food! Considering it doesn’t even exist as an idea at any other provincial park. And if you’re visiting this season and you’re thinking of the special de jour, the shrimp roll is actually quite decent.
Had to work on my laptop in the dining room during our vacations (unfortunaltely). Got shamed by one of the employee telling me it was not a work office; that i've been there for 4 days. Have been told by another lady working there that it was rude that I was sit there for so long(even if i had my coffee and food there the whole time.) If I had the choice, for sure I would be anywhere else other than here. It’s just a crappy place with overpriced shitty food and bad service. Overall, I surely do not recommend.
the breakfast in the Park was a treat for us on the last day of camping. it was a decent meal and one may say resonably priced, given that was the only option to dine out in biking distance. the coffee is free refill and not included in the breakfast price. I loved their use of no plastic cutlery/packaging. The restroom is clean.
The manager makes a specialty item daily and it never lets you down. From chocolate peanut butter pie to strawberry French toast garnished with mint. The service is super quick and the food is always fresh and delicious. The customer service is phenomenal especially for being such a busy joint and having so many out of town clients, they are always so happy and quick with their service. We have one young woman who has made my daughters summer impeccably memorable. By simply adding sprinkles to her favourite ice cream she always makes my daughters trip for ice cream a very happy time. Thank you for making our summer amazing !
Absolutely love their burger and ice cream! The Angus beef burger is 10/10 . it is much more delicious than Mc Donalds . The beef slice is thick and juicy. There is also a variety of ice cream which attracts lots of kids! I dont like their hot dog. It is completely burned! I don't know why they could serve this hot dog ! Nice staff and fast service!
My partner and I were very pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was! I had the Veggie Royale burger and he had the pulled pork burger. We loved the fact the burger bun had garlic butter on it like garlic bread- we've never seen this before, but maybe that's because we're from the UK?? Delicious either way. Great food for an understated little cafe.
Not a bad place for a quick bite. It is a bit overpriced but somewhat expected in there touristic areas when there’s not many other options to choose from. I’d stick to the basics though as we tried the Jerk Chicken Sandwich and it was nothing to write home about and for $16-18 with Fries wasn’t something I’d order again. On the other hand the Jumbo Hotdog for $5-6 was one of the best I’ve tried and well worth the price. The Onion Rings were ok too but just typical frozen out the box type but turned out ok. The Ice Cream here was the star of the show and a great deal for 2 single scoop waffle cones and a single scoop cup for around $12 is the best way to end off a great day at this phenomenal beach. The Ice Cream was super silky and creamy with a delicious flavour as well and the waffle cone was on point too. If you’re stuck for food at least you have some options here to choose from just try and pick wisely 😉
All yummy items, bit pricey but good. Nice staff and clean areas.
I went to eat a burger at Currahs a little less than 2 weeks ago during my stay in Sandbanks and Im still thinking about it!!! The next day, we were heading back to Montreal and I just had one thing in mind: go get another burger before hitting the road. But this time, my friend also took one because she wanted to know why I was so jubilant! My friend and I both agree that this is the BEST BURGER EVER!!! Ive eaten burgers in the highest rated restaurants in Montreal and Chicago and truly, there is no equal! Also, the staff is very welcoming and kind. Impeccable service! A terrace also allows us to enjoy the good weather! N.B.: The agents at the gatehouse (very nice all the same) should give people who want to eat there a temporary pass of at least 45 minutes so that the restaurant can do business especially on rainy days. Two negative things on the other hand: 1- It would take me 4.5 hours to go get another one in case of a burger crisis. :-) 2- There are no franchises in Montreal. :-)
The young boy and girl who served me on July 8 pm were nonchalant, arrogant in their response and following a mistake in my order, I waited for a simple request (to empty some of my coffee into the sink so I could add some milk) while they served all the other customers. The boy told me « you gonna wait » in a rude way, while he was next to the sink. After a good moment of wait, When I repeated my request to the young lady, as she was now the one next to the sink, she looked at me rudly, said nothing and passed my beverage brusquely over the counter to the young man, spilling some. Who did nothing in return. I ended up having to spill some coffee in the garbage to make my latte. Then, the lid on my other coffee was on wrong. I have to mention too that there was no rush..only a family waiting for ice-cream! I never comment in here and i don t like to be negative, but i feel like this needed to be said and seen by a manager.
Will this outlet beach be open on solar eclipse please?
The onion rings and Reids dairy ice cream were amazing and the staff was super friendly and helpful! Perfect place for a beach day snack
Amazing service, super friendly and so helpful! Very fast service Great freshly fried foods, lots of great options for various types of diets. Such a lovely stop while youre in the park!
Staffs are probably overworked and underpaid, thats why they are so grumpy, rude and careless. Their short-term memory, multi-tasking& math skills all very sad too.
Racial discriminating practice is open in the air. Too bad its the most convenient option that tourist and camper have around here.
July 31, 2023 - hot dogs and poutine
We had wonderful service regarding allergies! Both my daughters have multiple severe food allergies and the staff took it seriously. The server was able to answer all my questions and find meal solution for them. We had a great lunch!
Had an amazing experience. Burgers, Wrap and Poutine were really delicious.
Best customer services from cashier and chef. Chef prepared special vegan meal for us on request. must try their vegan chicken nuggets. Vegetarian options: Good option burgers, nuggets and other vegan food items.
Awful experience we got here from their cashier with much more attitude than customer service skills. And apparently, the racist little girl that other previously reviews mentioned still working here. The boy took my $20, placed the order $11, printed the receipt and then move on to the next customer, after I remind him then he remember to give back $9 changes. The girl took my $2 on the counter, went to get me a cup of ice, completely forget about it then pointing at the other $2 in my hand saying that I was lying, shes giving me ice for free. I tried to clarify step by step how it happened but she turn 180° into an outburst, interrupt yelling& threatening you need to leave or Im gonna call the warden. She then went on making a discriminating joke with everyone about how they must have to deal with these kind of people all the time. When the warden arrived, she made up lies after lie, so much that the warden has to run back& forth, in& out of the kitchen 3 times to update his note with twisted versions of her story yet its detail still make no sense and her math doesnt add up. She continued making more false accusations that I was harassing her, screaming in her face in front of all her customers, and solving the cup on her face. Last lie she decide to tell her warden that their ice machine broken down so she couldnt get more ice, and then coincidentally they found $2 on the ground, somehow must been there all this time but only now magically appear infront of their faces. After over 1 hour 40 mins they holding me waiting, my food turnt cold and my cup of ice melt into water, she and one of the warden making up all b/s that I never done, ID checked, threaten to remove me from the park, threaten calling OPP, charging disturbing their peace, banning this and that...etc. So they concluded that all this was just a tiny misunderstanding, and they figured out a peaceful resolution is to offer me back my $2 that they found and warn me to never set foot in this premises again. Its odd that from the very beginning, I suggest they could review the camera cctv behind the cashier counter to save time and honestly that thing doesnt know how to lie vs a millenial entitled delusional girl, but the warden ignored and rather waste time taking note she says vs he says, then telling to me that she has the right to do this& say that. Yeh, so beware people!
Food is tasty fresh, and its super fast to receive!! This restaurant is also pet friendly
Ordered ice cream which was great. Cant say much for the rest of the food.
Waited way too long to pick up food, staff unable to give me the utensils I asked for
Delicious breakfast sandwich, best homefries Ive had in a long time, and great service from the young man at the counter and the staff that brought us the food.
We stayed at sandbanks for 3 days and decided to camp. Like true city slickers we has some issues with our camps stove and just desperately needed coffee. Day 1 we got coffee and day 2 we just made it our plan to stop back there for breakfast. We had BLT s and coffees and they were amazing. I know BLT s are simple food but they got it Simply PERFECT. Perfectly toasted bread. Delightfully crunchy bacon, fresh lettuce and firm, freshly sliced tomatoes with just the right amount of mayo for flavour. The best part though we re the staff! Everyone was so friendly and courteous. Hope took care of our milkshake on our last day and was so thoughtful with any of our special requests. Cathy also made us feel welcome and comfortable From the moment we stepped in. As a queer couple in rural Ontario that was particularly important. Next time we camp at sandbanks we ll pack a little less and plan to spend a bit more time on Currah s great patio. Note: June is poplar season and the pollen is intense so if you have allergies be super diligent with meds or plan to come in a different season.
This is the restaurant and Cafe next to the park store. There are few options to choose from and they also have vegan burger. Ice cream is also available along with some non alcoholic drink options. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating with shades for sun and rain. Overall experience was good.
Idiotic system. They abandon the food at a counter as far from where you order as humanly possible. No markings, no receipt, nothing to identify what is what and who it belongs to. There is no one to even ask unless you happen to stop one of the kitchen staff in the split second they are there dropping off more food. In their defence they call out the order number when they bring out the food but if they are particularly speedy (normally a good thing) or you get delayed at the cash for any reason you are sol. Tape the receipt to the order or invest in a marker if you are just going leave food unattended for your patrons to ponder over. This isn t rocket science.
The BLT and ice cream was OK. The poutine was not good. The price for a burger is around $18, that is too high. And there is an option for a tip on the machine, but there is no sit down service or waitress. That is just a money grab.
Wasn t expecting the food to be as good as it was! Absolutely amazing and all the ingredients were so fresh. Cool to see they grow their own chives on the patio!
The park store... Bought an umbrella there because , you know, summer is already off season for summer items and I didnt planned ahead. At 50$ with the base sold separately it seemed like a rip off but one I would accept to pay for as I didnt plan ahead. At that price though, I was expecting it to last more than a day... While all other umbrellas on that same beach were pretty still, this one did not and broke apart in no time at all. I dont mind paying more in tourist traps, but hey, a minimum of quality would be appreciated
Best burger ever!!! The Sandbanks burger was delicious!! Quality food, very good portion and very respectable price
Been coming to this place for over 10 years, the prices are now way too high for what you get. Ordered a large poutine $11, they now use the medium size containers as a large and they only fill the containers halfway. What really upset me is that they put some type of spice/chemical in the gravy, it left my lips immediately burning and tingling all through the night. I dont recommend this place anymore.
Came here and the sign says OPEN and people came out with food but yet theyre closed... Maybe turn off the open sign and inform people you are closed... 0 stars if I could. You also should be open a little later due to the fact that the beach is open later..
Racism at peek and zero customer service. Staff was laughing on a family. My husband was first in the line and asked where to pay but they were too busy laughing and served two/three customers who came after us. All three staff members did not take my order. We felt humiliated and left.
Extremely rude staff, called me a liar. Also, would give 0 stars but that isnt an option.
Great food and price...enjoyed it!
Terrific hot dog, hamburger, fries and onion rings
Pretty good fast food
Was expecting a dirty grease bar with concession food. Instead I got a diverse menu that included lobster and piri piri. Was exceptionally clean for being right off of the beach and all of my party was more than happy with their food. Dont be afraid to check this place out while you spend a sunny day at the beach.
The people working there are really nice, but the food is not at all great for the prices. A burger combo would set you back by 15-16 with fries and NO drink. The burgers were quite hard and not what you would expect from a restaurant. More like something you bought from Walmart and put together at home. The portion sizes were decent. That said, it s conveniently located opposite Outlet beach in Sandbanks, and is the only restaurant close to this beach.
The staff is overstretched and does not have proper customer service etiquette in place. Too expensive for the horrible management!!!!
