247 Picton Main St, Picton, ON K0K 2T0, Canada
Chic 1879 hotel featuring a seasonal outdoor pool & a spa, plus 2 restaurants & lobby bar.
Dinner was delicious! Pizza was amazing and the steak frites are highly recommended. The kale salad is also a great starter choice! Wine by the glass is seemingly grossly overpriced but an amazing meal and night out indeed.
We stayed at the Royal for about a week in early December. It was a really nice spot, and the room was comfy and it was right in the middle of Picton, and so it was easy for us to walk place to place. The staff and events were awesome as well! Very responsive and helpful. We also partook in the winemakers series and it was so cool to learn about a local wine. The Royal is a wonderful place to stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal. The room was comfortable, new and well styled. I found the bed medium firmness. The service was great. I appreciated the EV charger as there isn't a level 3 charging station in PEC. The food at the restaurant was excellent as was the service. The portions were fine, not large. Breakfast at the front restaurant/cafe was really good as well. Definitely enjoyed the sauna but the gym was very basic.
Popped in spontaneously with my daughter for hot chocolate and was wowed by how inviting the space and the staff were. I was sure it was a fluke and we just lucked out with exceptionally nice staff that night. Visited again for dessert with my kids and was so impressed. So friendly, so welcoming, even staff that weren't helping us were engaging my kids and making their time special. Already expected it was a great place for tourists, but convinced it's one of the best for locals as well!
From the moment my wife and I checked in to the moment we left. our stay at the Royal was superlative! The check in staff was the friendliest, most kind and helpful we have ever experienced at any hotel or resort. The bar staff made our afternoon and evening so much fun and truly enjoyable. The food was simply amazing, the kitchen and chef were incredible. We stayed in an Empire Room which was beautifully appointed. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the tub and fireplace added to the sense of luxury. We both had facials and scalp massages by Laura whose personality and demeanor, along with her skills made for a truly relaxing and stress relieving spa visit. We have stayed in many resorts and hotels over the years and I would say the Royal is well deserving of its rewards and accolades. It was a visit that we will cherish in our memories and we hope to be back in the not too distant future. Thank you to all the staff for a truly wonderful stay at your lovely hotel and spa.
We went to the Royal to celebrate my friend’s 70th birthday. It did not disappoint. Each and every staff member was so friendly and could not do enough for us all to make our stay there perfect. The rooms are fabulous, with comfy beds and beautiful decor. We had brunch there on Sunday morning and it was excellent. I highly recommend this hotel.
There on business for team building.... simply fantastic!!! exercise room - they opened it early for me; conference room was stocked with so much food - no shortage; the restaurant - just wow! Wine tasting - a great touch. The bathroom with rain showerhead - awesome after long day!Even a hand written note that was personalized to welcome me...a first for me, and I've traveled to many places. I will be back with the family. Love this place!!! Warm thanks
We stopped by for some hot chocolate and coffee, and were blown away by the facade of the historical building. The interior part of the lobby is fascinating being 1 part hotel, 1 part bar, and 1 part coffee shop. We loved the marriage of all three and the open concept lounge. The guest seating look warm and inviting for a good book 📚. We didn't stay at the hotel but would love to next time. Would highly recommend checking it out on your next visit to PEC for coffee and a fresh pastry.
Went for brunch, and honestly what can I say? We loved it so much, service is professional and food is soooo good. Pancakes were unreal and the potato dish in the omelette is the best way to make a potato. Food and drinks: Brunch was fantastic.
Exceptional customer service! The staff went above and beyond to make our dining experience enjoyable. We ll definitely be back because of this!
Always a lovely time!
5 star hotel and all around amazing experience!
Rooms so clean and comfy like a big hug! So an amazing place to relax. The food is out of this world.
Amazing stay. Loved every minute of it Rooms: Spacious, well lit and excellent design. Safety: Never thought about it. Safe as it could be. Food and drinks: Excellent restaurant. Cant go wrong with anything on the menu.
Excellent food and an amazing bartender!
Wow how things change, I grew up i Picton, but this is a whole different place..
A truly gifted massage therapist
A fantastic stay at The Royal. Amazing design of the hotel including our room. The hotel staff was also excellent. Looking forward to a return stay.
Great hotel and the staff were super nice! Rooms: Rooms were high tech Food and drinks: Food was really good
We stopped by the Royal for dinner during our trip to PEC. The hotel itself is so beautiful! Very thoughtfully designed and the patio is fantastic. We enjoyed a truly incredible meal, every single bite was so delicious. The steak frites was tender and perfectly cooked. It was a very memorable dining experience and I hope to return for a meal, or a stay!
Dinner was good, nice spot. The white fish starter was delicious. However, one of the pasta dishes my friend ordered - the noodles were undercooked (much tougher than Al dente). The manager tried to convince her that this was how the dish was supposed to be prepared which didn t seem like good customer service. It put a damper on what would have been a delightful outing.
Came for dinner with 5 friends. The space is beautiful, so lovely. Most of the food was delicious, excellent tartare and whitefish mousse. The manager s response to a complaint about the paccheri was where things got disappointing - informing us we just didn t understand the dish. It s intended to be al dente. This pasta was barely cooked, almost crunchy. There s a difference. Thankfully they did ultimately comp the dish.
We went to the Royal for dinner. We tried their countylicious menu. We truly enjoyed their french onion soup and beet ricotta ravioli. Radicchio salad was good too. Service was decent i suppose they were busy for a friday night. The dessert was not up to the mark. The orange almond cake was just about ok. Meringue with ample compote also was very one toned in flavor. Entree and mains did better than the dessert.
Enchanting
The Royal is just on another level. Beautiful architecture, finishings and ambiance. Great bar. We ll be back.
The Royal has covered all the finest details. It s a beautiful place to stay and the service was great! Looking forward to my next stay already!
Our stay was great. The Royal Hotel is beautiful, the food outstanding and the staff even better. I will highly recommend The Royal Hotel to all my friends. Walkability: The Hotel is right downtown Picton. Great location.
We absolutely loved our experience here! We shared the Polpette, Ravioli Doppi, Genoa Pizza, and seasonal veggies (Brussels sprouts at the time), and everything was so delicious that we bought more Polpette to go. We even came back the next day to try more from the menu! The atmosphere is quaint and romantic, with an open kitchen that adds an intimate touch to the experience. Sitting at what felt like the chef s special table made us feel like we were in a movie scene, with the chef and staff in direct view, bringing a unique charm to the evening. The restaurant is also very kid-friendly, and the lively atmosphere made everyone feel welcome. This place is a must-visit!
Wonderful stay at the Royal Hotel! Our room was luxurious filled with quality details and our dinner at the restaurant was absolutely delicious. Nearby activities: Many wineries nearby Food and drinks: Service and food outstanding! Noteworthy details: Patrick our waiter excellent and delightful.
Stayed here for the night. Great service, rooms were fantastic, and super clean. There is a great bar in the lobby, but the location is also perfect to visit some of the other local restaurants, all within a very short walk. Would highly recommend staying here.
We don t have enough of their fine food, excellent presentation and great service. We always make an effort to be there a few times a year. Always enjoy the good time with friends there. Menu is seasonal with the farm to table style. Highly recommend it!
Great upscale hotel in the heart of Picton. Rooms were nicely decorated, service was excellent. Would definitely recommend! Nearby activities: Picton is a great place to go for wine, beer, and food.
Rooms: Spacious, clean, and great ambiance Walkability: Great location on the main Picton strip, right near great places to eat and drink like Russ & Co and Bocado Food and drinks: Extensive wine and bar menu
Fantastic boutique hotel in the heart of historic Picton. Banger of a remodel, comprised of a mix of nods to the old with elements of the new. Had a fantastic stay! Rooms: Comfortable room with great vibes. Nearby activities: PEC is a destination for anyone that enjoys wine, beer or spirits. Could be argued that Prince Edward County is currently kicking out the best beer in the province with Parsons, 555, All My Friends, Maton, Slake, Dunehopper, Midtown, Gillingham, and Prince Eddy within a 30 minute radius. Safety: Key card access, with cameras in common hallways for security. Walkability: Surrounded by good eats and cool venues for a drink if you wanted to tread off hotel grounds. Food and drinks: The hotel bar served excellent cocktails
Great place to stay at and to dine in. The staff go above and beyond to make your experience superb.
I had my first facial with Laura at The Royal s spa and it won t be my last. It was incredible!
Had a great lunch. Polite wait staff.
We stopped by the Royal Hotel to have dinner on our way back to Toronto. It was exquisite: the food, the design and ambience, not to mention the service was impeccable. Now we want to come back and stay over night! Thank you for a memorable evening.
Rachel gave me a most relaxing and therapeutic massage today. She has a perfect touch and is very thorough . 5 stars Food and drinks: Fresh, delicious and locally sourced.
After having a procedure done at Picton Hospital I treated my driver, my sister-in-law and myself to breakfast today at The Royal Hotel. (The Counter Bar.) We were actually a tad too late for the breakfast but our lovely server told us we could still have the French omelette. It was THE most outstanding, delicious omelette I have ever had in my life!! Served with collard greens and their famous potato pave. And because their pistachio croissants are literally to die for, I had to have one of those too! We both had the hot chocolate with whipped cream - divine. Thanks to the wonderful staff - chef Albert who always pops out for a friendly greeting and Sol who always has a smile on his face. We are so lucky to have such a fabulous establishment right here in PEC. Susan Jaehn-Kreibaum The Empty Nest Bed and Breakfast
Great location in the Sandbanks region. Excellent service and attention from the staff! Highly recommend. Rooms: Superb hotel , great location, great room, great restaurant!
My family and I stayed at the Royal Hotel for 2 nights and it was such a wonderful vacation! The hotel is pure luxury as is the service received from staff. We will definitely be back! Thank you for making our stay so amazing!
Brand new rooms decorated with a lot of natural wood. Staff eager to help. Too bad we couldnt stay an additional night.
One of my favourite spots for an amazing coffee and meal. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is calm and the aesthetic is spot on! The breakfast yogurt with granola is my favourite. As well as mushroom pizza!
one of my favorite hotel experiences I ve ever had anywhere in the world. everything from the decor to the kindness of the staff to the food, it was all done with intention and creativity and so much love. can t wait to come back and stay here again.
Enjoyed dinner at the hotel, great food and service
This was a lovely hotel to stay in. . from the minute you walk in the door you feel relaxed and fall in love with the natural decor .. every room is decorated with style and a warm relaxed feel .. all staff were very pleasant and friendly The room was very quiet and cozy Will definitely recommend to friends
Absolutely loved our stay you Rocked it a 5Plus beautiful hotel with great rooms and the food was perfect not to mention the staff they couldnt have been more hospitable. We will definitely be coming back you are our new favourite Cheers
My second breakfast visit this morning. Opted to sit in the Counter Bar at front of the hotel facing Main St in Picton. We were seated quickly by Jeff. The room faces south and is bright and sunny. Ordered our coffee/tea and Royal Breakfast which came quickly. Meal was delicious and eggs were cooked to perfection. Jeff was friendly and attentive . Definitely worth a return visit.
Visiting family in Waupoos, the hotel was very accommodating to my daughters and I
Just had a fantastic time at the Royal. The service was perfect. Attentive but not smarmy. Nice nice people I had a few tiny issues in my room and the staff sent me a care package. Food delicious (Pickerel next level. The best mayo with the steak et Frites I have ever tasted) Amazing gluten free bread. And that is rare let me tell you. Only negative. NO Marmalade to put on toast! Also really fantastic and much needed massage with Laura The decor and ambience so relaxing.
Best spot in Picton
I stopped by the Royal Hotel for lunch as I passed through Picton. I had ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon, and it was delicious. The fresh brewed coffee that they serve is amazing as well. Parking is limited in front of the hotel, though there are plenty of parking lots, both pay and free, close by. They staff was friendly and helpful from the moment I walked into the lobby.
We had a lovely experience!! The staff was very welcoming, the rooms were beautiful and the food in the restaurant was exceptional!!! Highly highly recommend. We ll be back for sure!! Food and drinks: Restaurant was exceptional!!
Our stay was definitely a 5! Thanks to the friendly and helpful staff, and of course the exquisitely comfortable room. And did I mention the delicious breakfast? We cant wait to visit you again.
Everything about this beautiful place is remarkable. The service is like no other when it comes to the hospitality business. This was actually my second time staying at the hotel. I was here earlier this summer, their level of service and professionalism towards me and others rings supreme. As a returning guest, I would expect them to me a little bit not as much as they did as soon as I walked in hi Brandon, how are you doing? Good to see you again. We have your room all ready for you, which they insured that it was the same room I had before with my handicap accommodation much appreciated Even if my bag was not heavy, they insisted on taking it for me and making things easier for me That evening, I was sitting at the bar A gentleman came up and said welcome back. Mr. Fisher shook my hand at the time. I didn t know who it was. I found out that it was the director of operations. We wanted to make sure that you had everything you needed, sir absolutely, I said Two days before my arrival, I inquired about a Sunday church surface in the local area. I actually forgot about it by the time Sunday rolled around front desk associate asked me. Do you still want us to get that cab for you to go to church service tonight I ended up not going but Fact that she remembered my request was unexpected. I was fortunate enough to receive a massage from Laura Young my neck was terribly nodded up and she was able to release it by the end of the session in our conversation, I realized that she was going on holiday because it is Canadian Thanksgiving this past weekend, but she wanted to make sure that she took care of me as her client first was not expecting that and kind of made me kind of emotional. Thank you, Laura. To the room, service staff thank you for being attentive and bringing me my meals when I was not feeling that great for the last couple days. I appreciate the attention that I was given. Thank you. Thank you to the executive chef Albert and his staff your food is excellent Thank you for everything that you continue to do for me and for others as you know, I will be returning Rooms: Done in European style contact front desk for details Nearby activities: Everything you could think of ice cream, Tim Hortons, fast food movie movie theater, wineries Safety: Absolutely no concern of safety Walkability: Hotel is essentially located close to downtown amen Food and drinks: The best hotel Food I ve ever tasted Noteworthy details: Rooms are finished in a European style
We went to the Royal for dinner. Food was fantastic, service was impeccable, and the venue was beautiful.
What a great location, room was perfect, the food was excellent as was the service!
Went for family dinner.
Just lovely
Beautifully appointed, delicious food, definitely must if visiting the county.
We enjoyed our stay. Amenities were great and staff were very friendly.
I was there for coffee but I will return for dinner. I witnessed staff meetings between shifts, a sign of a well run business. The kitchen was open to viewing, another professional touch.
We recently had a wonderful 3-night stay at The Royal in Picton. The property, food and service were exceptional, and the staff took such good care of us. Special thanks to Rachel, Jay, Robyn and Alexia who went above-and-beyond to make our stay perfect! We will definitely be back.
Went there for brunch and omg such a lovely place! Clean, tasty food, very good service, beautiful decor.
Perfect day, they were amazing made my Daughter engagement perfect.
Had dinner in the back area of the restaurant. It was a lovely vibe and atmosphere. The food was delicious and service was very professional.
Just went for drinks in the patio. Great atmosphere but a bit pricey. I guess this is the level of such places.
Wonderful staff, clean and comfortable room. Great food. Enjoyed our stay in safe, friendly surroundings. Walkability: We parked our vehicle in your complimentary lot and walked to tour Picton. Everything we needed was within walking distance.
Very comfortable room with gorgeous decor. The food and spa were stellar. Walkability: Great location on Picton s Main Street. Rooms : 5/5 |
Perfect service, very good food. I went back! Nearby activities: Main street, with its shops and services Walkability: Car parks nearby
I have dined at the Rpyal a few times. Unfortunately, the Royal management have a big fish in a small pond woke attitude that focuses primarily on tourists and not on quality experience. I will give credit that it is an attractive venue - modern architecture that is very well done. Their menu is a simple production style, unimaginative, that caters to the masses. It feels like a plastic experience. I would rather go somewhere and have a hamburger where I am treated like a valued customer. I was a bar restaurant owner, a chef myself and understand the value of total customer experience. I have written hundreds of reviews in Toronto and world-wide. I try to cut the establishment some slack and dont give negative reviews easily. In so far as their response is concerned - it is personally vindictive and grossly over-stated to the point of being laughable - a situation originating from a server that interrupted a sensitive private conversation and expressed their controversial views - that is simply taboo in the service industry. i simply do not support inexperienced woke establishments that respond with hate when someone justifiably complains of bad service. An unbelievably bad experience.
Very clean and professional! The staff, amenities, the room, and the food were amazing! Rooms
Great hotel, staff so very friendly and will help you with whatever you need. Rooms so clean and modern. Food was excellent and the stores to shop in around the hotel are very convenient. Will definitely stay there again. Rooms: Very clean and modern Walkability: Close to the shops. Food and drinks: The food and drinks were fantastic
High-quality. Highly recommend it Rooms: Very clean. Beautifully designed. High quality bedding Food and drinks: Outstanding quality. Great service
We went for lunch and we had one of the best restaurant experiences. The food was delectable. The hotel is really clean and chic. Will probably come again for a stay eventually.
Amazing food & drinks. Excellent service. Will definitely come again. Food and drinks: Large wine menu, great mains and desserts. Rooms : 5/5 |
Everything was incredible! The atmosphere/vibe and the staff were beyond and all the little details just added to the magic.
Amazing stay! Rooms were clean and so comfy. Food was absolutely amazing!! The service staff were really great and friendly! Rooms: Rooms were great. Loved the French press in the rooms for coffee and the shampoo, conditioner and bodywash were great with a wonderful smell of like being in a spa Walkability: Everything in Picton is with in walking distance of the hotel. Great location.
Perfect place to stay in Prince Edward County! Food was also superb.
Best food I ve had in a while, great dining experience!
Have visited the royal many times for dinner/ lunch / brunch. Today visited for a massage. such a great experience and best massage of my life. Lovely atmosphere.
We had an excellent stay at the Royal with our family. Service was excellent, rooms were clean, modern and very functional. Bed was very comfortable and the room equipped with all the modern amenities one would expect. Gym is a bit on the smaller side with not as much equipment, but very clean, useful and modern. Outdoor spaces were a treat, and the pool perfect for our toddler. I cannot complement the food enough. Would highly, highly recommend staying here, as we would certainly like to do so again.
Fantastic dinner! Shoutout to Niall and his team for incredible hospitality!
Very friendly and accommodating staff Rooms: Small but well appointed Walkability: Easy walking Food and drinks: Delicious food
What an unexpected gem in the heart of Picton! Unfortunately I did not stay, but from the exterior and quick tour of the main floor, it looked every bit a luxury boutique hotel. It was a buzz of activity with a well appointed reception area, lounge area and main floor restaurant. Incredibly clean with a definite air of sophistication. Given an opportunity, I would definitely stay.
Love their food. Worth the money. Food and drinks: The best Service : 5/5 |
Lovely restaurant and staff!
Thank you for accepting dogs, but we were placed in a building next door not related to a 5 star hotel. And it seems this building was for families with children too, who are always screaming, so that they do not disturb the customers They put them in the building which is for customers with their dogs. In addition, for 3 days no one has come to do anything in the room. I had to look for the staff to at least empty the trash cans which were overflowing, on the 4th. day again me who caught the staff to ask to make the bed and to clean it, it was in the 5 star hotel. They sent us a person who was afraid of dogs. It was smart to send the person who was. afraid of dogs in the building with customers with dogs. Do you think she changed the sheets, just placed them AND with the prices not even a free lunch. I dont recommend this hotel. no service! In a week the sheet placed just once and the towels and trash twice in a week. What quality are you talking about?!
excellent food. one server who is from mumbai (forgot his name) went above and beyond because my mom was not feeling well and he gave her a warm herbal tea. he was excellent and went above and beyond.
Rooms: My room was bright clean, and the bathrooms were divine Safety: I felt totally safe and comfortable and every location of the hotel and outside of the hotel Walkability: Accessibility to some really good Food and drinks: The meatballs were out of this world so was the pizza and I also really loved my steel cut oats. I would drive three hours for those.
The Royal Hotel was an amazing experience! We cannot wait to come back! 10/10! Highly suggest for anyone planning to stay in the area!
Perfect place for a getaway
The Royal is hands down one of the nicest hotels weve ever visited! All of the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, and accommodate your stay. The restaurant, pool and location are unbeatable. Cant wait to return!
Overall a great place. Room was beautiful. Hotel itself is beautiful. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The things I didnt like. They stock the fridge w drinks and there is a basket of snacks, which is lovely, except for the cost. $7 for a snack size bag of chips? When you pay $600 for a room, that just seems tacky. The pool is quite small. And it closes at 9pm which seems early. The terrace also closes at 9, which to me seems silly. This comment was specific to my room, but there was a weird mechanical sound that you could hear while in the room. Like an electric motor with a squeaky belt that would then stop and let out a bang. Also the storage room was adjacent to our room, and when people were getting stuff from the room you could hear what they were doing clear as day. Again not a deal breaker, but not expected when you pay the premium. But mechanical noise was loud enough to wake me from a nap.
Wonderful staff and food were delicious.
The restaurant has an amazing ambiance and very high end food. Only issue is it has very limited vegetarian options.
Very good Italian cuisine restaurant in a magnificent setting. Pleasant welcome from the room staff, I recommend. Food and drinks: Tomato Mozzarella with extremely tasty tomatoes
Stopped at the lobby bar for drinks. Nice upscale place. With lots of selection.
Awesome!
The staff at the Royal is what sets it apart. Everyone is kind and eager to make your stay really great. Rooms are fresh, new, quiet and with great blackout curtains for sleeping. Location is center of Picton and the heart of the county. Really a great choice. Walkability: Walk to nice restaurants, shops and galleries. To see the county, you really need a car but if you stay at the Royal, you certainly can walk to everything in Picton.
Amazing service and location!
We just returned from a fabulous weekend at The Royal hotel in PEC. The hotel is beautiful. The service was top notch, food excellent, staff all very welcoming and accommodating. Overall, we had a great time and hope to return soon. Walkability: The hotel is in the town of Picton on the main road with accessibility to nearby shops and restaurants Food and drinks: We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner and drinks at the pool. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented
We had supper at The Royal last night and it was such a wonderful experience. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We had the pickerel and wow we will remember that dish for a very long time!
we stayed at the Royal as part of a destination wedding. Most of the hotel was used for family and friends of the bride and groom. our room was beautiful, with all elements (furniture, linens, towels and other amenities) being best in class. hotel staff was welcoming and accommodating. Food at the hotel was outstanding. .
Room was great, loved the design and room amenities, great bed. Rooms: Nice amenities, loved getting welcome cookies Food and drinks: Nice restaurant, food was good but portions were a bit small
We had such an amazing time at the Royal Hotel in Picton. We were originally meant to go last August, but my fiancé ended up getting into an accident that required surgery the day before we were meant to be there. The team at the Royal was so kind and understanding in helping us to rebook our trip until after his recovery. Food and drink at the restaurant was great, but I think my favourite part were actually the incredible coffee and pastries available at the counter bar (the pistachio croissant and rhubarb apple galette are amazing!). There are just so many beautiful spaces in the hotel and clearly a lot of care is given to ensuring the guest experience is a priority. We will definitely return anytime were in the County.
Great customer service, staff was very friendly/helpful. Architecture/design of the hotel is nice. Comfortable beds/pillows. We enjoyed some down time at the pool. Gym wifi wasn t working properly for the peloton bikes but otherwise everything was lovely!
The Royal was amazing. All staff were super friendly and helpful. Champagne upon check-in. The restaurant was delicious! We stayed 2 nights and ate there the whole time. Patio was so relaxing. Cushioned seating everywhere. Rooms were lovely and spacious. Really clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and we will be back!
My mum and I visited for a delish cappuccino and cortado and enjoyed the almond and pistachio croissants. The dinner is OK.....to be honest I know the team (some from downtown Toronto) are capable of bringing more to the overall menu. I wasnt too overwhelmed with the menu - its a basic intro to Italian cuisine.
Big shout out to Lindsay and Jennifer who helped organize my surprise engagement party for my fiancée (Laurie) last Tuesday. Everything went off without a hitch! They hosted over 40 people at the front of the venue. The food was amazing, and the service by their staff was outstanding. If you ever want to plan a special event for a loved one, this is the place !! Stress free, and full of class!! I highly recommend it!! Food and drinks: Amazing food !
The hotel was architecturally wonderful in blending the old with the new. Rooms were well decorated with high end finishes. Restaurant, Coffee Shop and patio were joy to spend time enjoying great food and attentive service. Highly recommend.
This is a restaurant review and an intervention. I cannot stand the farinata. I bring guests over to the Royal for dinner constantly and they are all happy with the meals. As a vegan the only option I have had is a seasonal version of the farinata or an adapted pizza. If it weren t for the kale salad, which is scrumptious, I would be lost. The cocktails are also great which I am very thankful for. Overall, lovely restaurant, service and setting but please stop offering the farinata. With much love and respect, a local.
An unexpected upscale delight in Picton. Only had a quick bite in the bar, but a lovely spot. With a visit.
Beautifully decorated, its like walking into a magazine!
We didnt stay at the hotel but went there for dinner on their covered patio. The food is Fantastic! The burger, green salad, mushroom pasta, and steak frites were delicious. The service was also super good. We will be back! Oh, and they served our dog, too :)
Had a relaxing stay at The Royal this weekend. The staff was warm and welcoming, and I especially enjoyed doing an amaro tasting one afternoon after seeing the extensive amaro menu (over 40 to choose from!) Breakfast also hit the spot.
Very nice hotel and restaurant with good food and vibes..the ambience was amazing..staff was very friendly..overall great experience..would definitely go back..
We had an amazing time and enjoyed our stay at your beautiful hotel immensely. Thank you very much and we look to returning! The food and amenities are outstanding.
We came here to eat in the restaurant, sat outside on the back patio. You will feel spoiled if you come here. Every where you look is impressive... even the washrooms are gorgeous (and paper towel for drying hands instead of blowers! ). From the moment you walk in the handsome oversized front doors... until you leave.... everywhere exudes a thoughtfully planned space with a resort like feel and a fun vibe. Guests look they are having fun. The back patio is amazing. Friendly attentive staff. The Nzuda pizza is delicious.
From the moment of check-in we were treated like favourite guests. Everything was lovely - the room, the food, the service. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!
Wonderful experience! Servers and staff were personable, friendly and helpful. They made our stay all the more enjoyable. Loved the attention to detail. Luxury in a relaxed atmosphere. I have been going to the County for many years and this weekend was by the far my best visit. Kudos.
We went for dinner at the hotel restaurant and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, the professional level of the staff in the kitchen as well as the friendliness of our waiting staff. Very friendly staff. Would highly recommend on all counts. Food and drinks: We had a great variety of drinks and all were good. We had the beef tartare, pizzas, polpette, Duck confit, papardelle... Everything was just great.
Just got back home after 2 amazing nights at The Royal, perfectly situated in the heart of Picton. Every staff member greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm, ensuring our stay was everything we wanted it to be. While my wife enjoyed one of the best massages shes ever had, I sat and read at the bar and enjoyed a locally brewed lager. In the evening we dined outdoors on the terrace. The ambiance, service and, of course, the food was exemplary. Our room was perfect, modern and very comfortable. If youre planning a trip to Prince Edward County, The Royal Hotel is the perfect jumping off spot. Highly recommend.
Dined at the restaurant. Great food and atmosphere.
Had a fabulous dinner on the patio. Kruti our server was excellent. She recommended a delicious appetizer that was the highlight of the meal! Would definitely recommend and will return soon!
Is a great place to stay if visiting Picton and wish to enjoy the Town. Thoroughly enjoyed out visit. Only issue was on a hot sunny weekend there was never available space to set Up around the pool during the days. There is very limited seating around the pool and it seemed to have been saved or taken early. As much as we enjoyed our stay here, our next visit, if during the summer, will be a hotel that is lakeside or with a pool and plenty of space. Rooms: On smaller side for the price, but very clean, well styled but Closet space is very limited. Nearby activities: Short drive to see the sites in PEC. Walkability: Can t get a better location in Picton. Easily walked to all restaurants and shops from the hotel. Food and drinks: Hotel meals were excellent. Extremely tasty, properly prepared and very fresh.
Did not stay here but visited for dinner and coffee. Stunning, worth visiting.
Visited ONLY FOR FOOD - Central location in Downtown Picton, great atmosphere and decor, service is wonderful! Food was good, healthy portions. One star less because I feel there are better food destinations in the county but again good food with tasty options for everyone!
Great anniversary weekend. Everything was very nice. Highly recommend the restaurant. The Royal had the best meals we had in Picton and Wellington.
Unacceptable Experience at The Royal Hotel I feel compelled to share a disappointing experience we had recently at The Royal Hotel. On an incredibly hot day, our teenage daughter went in, ready to pay for a drink to cool down. To our dismay, the bartender was extremely rude and told her to go to McDonalds instead of being in the restaurant. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially towards our youth. As a result, we will not be returning to this establishment and strongly advise others, especially parents with teenagers, to think twice before visiting. Our young people deserve better!
I had the pleasure of dealing with Cindy, Food and dining supervisor at The Royal hotel regarding a request. She went above and beyond to accommodate me and provided excellent customer service. I was most impressed. Thank you, Cindy. Service : 5/5
We stayed here for a bachelorette weekend and had the most fabulous time! The staff was soooo kind and accommodating and we felt like they were genuinely invested in our good time the rooms and hotel are stunning and the food is great! Outdoor pool is an excellent tough as most dont do that anymore but do note that its pretty small. Overall experience was excellent!
We didn t stay here but came for dinner and brunch. The hotel is really nice, everyone is super friendly. We brought our puppy and they were very accommodating on the patio, they even served her own bowl of water. Food was really good. Definitely would come back, it s very centrally located in Picton.
Wonderful friendly service! Comfortable beds ! Beautiful outdoor dining and delicious food ! We will be back ! . Thank you
Stunning hotel. Staff were very helpful and nice. Loved the heated pool and dry sauna as well. Cant wait to come back!
TLDR: Worth it. Service & Rooms 5/5. Stayed for a couple days and was very pleased with the service! The staff welcomed us with great chilled sparkling wine from a local winery...and it all just went up hill from there. The room was stunning & the common areas were stunning. The staff was attentive and helpful to ensure the stay was pleasant! Parking was easy on the property. The rooms were stunning and stocked with all necessities including the latest tech in the rooms! Its centrally located and walkable around to many shops and restaurants nearby which were all awesome. Rooms: Rooms are newly renovated and stocked very nicely with the latest products, finishes and necessities. Walkability: Centrally located in Picton and walking distance to many spots around town. Food and drinks: On property restaurants are amazing for breakfast, drinks, lunch or dinner.
High end hotel
Amazing boutique hotel with all the amenities, location and fantastic service!
Have gone to the spa here before and have had a good time but went again recently with the manager Brittany and was the best experience weve had at the Royal! Also my RMT Rachel was so good, highly recommend her as a practitioner!
Found a gem hidden downtown Picton. My extra special experience started when I was greeted at check-in with a wonderful personnel and a glass of bubbly. They were so attentive to our every needs and made me feel like family. The huge room with everything carefully detailed (birthday cookies and special note to welcome us, black-out curtains, electric blinds, easy to use AC, lots of room in room, large bathroom with soak tub and rain shower), confortable bed, pillows, sofa. Free parking behind the hotel. Walk downtown Picton and do not worry about parking. Had a few drinks on the patio at night and a delicious breakfast the next morning. We will definitely be back and do recommend The Royal for the wonderful accommodations and the delicious food but mostly for the way the personnel makes you feel... family!
Over rated & way over priced
Such an amazing place to stay. Seamless, all the amenities you need. Very pleasant staff. Rooms: Very comfortable rooms.
Just enjoyed a lovely weekend getaway to the County and stayed at The Royal. It never disappoints. Food, service, accommodations and drinks were all excellent and the location can t be beat. We love the care that s been taken to restore this heritage gem.
*** Edit ( June 2024 ) Gorgeous spot! Brunch was always good.. our last visit was extra lovely! Service in the past was average at best.. This visit was a different story!... we were fortunate to have Krutika ! Professional & delightful! A real gem! As was everyone else that approached our table. There seemed to be a cohesive working environment that wasnt there before. p.s. to the kitchen.. that potato pavé, gravlax benny & rhubarb merengue... , Kudos. Great brunch experience on a birthday! Much appreciated!
The service, room and overall experience was top notch! I absolutely recommend The Royal!! The food in the on-site restaurant was also exceptional.
Hotel worthy of an 8 star. Super luxurious Super nice staff Swimming pool/good food/good coffee/lounge music, Just wow - 100/100
Had a reservation for 10 at the restaurant. Everything about this place is phenomenal. The service was excellent and the staff were knowledgeable and professional. The sommelier was knowledgeable and suggested excellent pairings for our meals. The food was incredible and everyone (even the picky eaters) could not stop talking about how good it was. The cocktails were FANTASTIC as well. Without a doubt the best dining option in the county.
This rating only reflects my experience at the spa. My partner gave me a gift certificate for a 1.5 hour massage for Christmas and I redeemed it on Mother s Day. I live over an hour away and ended up taking longer than expected. The spa reception assured me it was no problem whatsoever. Difficult to find the parking lot and Google maps is even more confusing. There are no signs in the lobby to indicate where the spa is and the staff seemed too occupied at the front desk to help. After searching around, I eventually had to ask the staff at the front desk. One staff member talking to the front desk person seemed quite annoyed with my interruption. After being led to the basement, the front desk person at the spa greeted me and again reassured me that my being late was not an issue. She then attempted to load some consent forms (which I was supposed to fill out earlier that I had no awareness of because they were sent to my email the morning of my appointment). She had a lot difficulty finding the forms on her tablet, wasting further time, and instead asked me to get changed first. Their change room/shower room is very small and I was uncomfortable changing in such a small space, with other spa clients often coming in. After signing the forms (which took longer than I anticipated) I was now at least 20 minutes late for my massage. My masseur was a male (I m female, and prefer strong Swedish massages as I have chronic neck and upper back issues). I believe his name was David, though I hardly recall because he was not warm, or very friendly. After reaffirming that I wanted deep tissue pressure, he proceeded. It was one of the worst massages I ve ever received Instead of steady deep pressure, I got pinching and squeezing which was quite painful and made me more tense (the opposite of what a massage should do) and even when I asked him to reduce pressure it was still very pinchy and amateurish and he seemed to be going through the motions and in a hurry to get out of there. In contrast to all this, I went for a massage in November at Bota Bota (Montreal) and my massage was absolutely amazing and the masseur seemed warm, caring and considerate, checking in with me 3-4 times. Because I didn t have my phone on me until I changed and was checking out, I only realized afterwards that I did not receive an hour and a half, barely even an hour. So I suppose being late and the technical issues with the forms did matter after all! Considering the amount of money my partner paid, it would ve been nice if the Royal offered use of the sauna or other amenities to guests getting a massage. I left feeling ripped off, annoyed and not relaxed. Highly unsatisfactory and substandard experience for such a luxury facility.
Food and drinks: We had a great lunch and the atmosphere was super cool from the decor to the outdoor patio. The service was fantastic and food was delicious. We had the prix fixe lunch and iced coffee, which was more food than we could eat. While it was slightly expensive it was worth the treat and the best pizza and salad I ve had in a while.
We go to the Royal often and everything from food to service is amazing. We found out the bread we order can be bought at the front cafe part. Drive into town today, found parking and went in to get a loaf of bread. Interact payment for the $8.50 loaf of bread, and the machine came up with tipping options. Why? Did you deliver the bread to my home? No l did everything. I pushed cancel and walked out. That s how you lose a sale. Many people are getting annoyed now with the tipping on take out. I also noticed a lot of places that did that, now have removed that option. That is where to go for my take out food now.
We came to the Royal for dinner and fell in love right away. The hotel and dining space is beautiful and has great vibes. The service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. We loved our cocktails and the food. We got the steak frites and mushroom pasta and they were absolutely delicious. The pasta came out piping hot which you don t often get. We sat on the back patio which got a bit bug-y near the end so would recommend bug spray. Other than that though- a great experience and would recommend!
Had lunch here, food was excellent! The detail of the rebuild here, is excellent. I have to try the patio here this summer. Poppy loves a good patio!
The building and facade is lovely but thats just what it is, a facade. The menu is limited (pigeon hole you into ordering very expensive choices), 2nd time having soggy pizza with very little toppings and the price of wine has a 300% mark up. Least expensive 8oz glass is $24. Unfortunately, its trying to be an upscale Toronto/New York restaurant but in reality, simply widens the gap between rich, middle and marginalized class in PEC.
We went to this hotels restaurant for dinner and had a very pleasant experience. The food was delicious and, Patrick, our waiter was very friendly. Excellent service.
Front desk was remarkable from beginning to end, helping me with many bags and pouring non-alcoholic wine. A delight. Room s view is mediocre room 202 but all else? A resounding brava!!
Amazing service- friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. The property is gorgeous, and the food and beverage program is outstanding. We will be back! Walkability: A short walk to great restaurants and bars, and also close to quaint residential neighborhoods and the Milennium Trail for fitness walking :)
Amazing place with amazing food and staff. Wheelchair accessibility could be improved but it is accessible except waiting for key for elevator to get in is undignified and lacks independence
Outstanding
Thank you team for a wonderful, quick, Victoria Day weekend trip. We re greatly looking forward to returning in the summer time.
We had a really wonderful getaway at the Royal. The service was very good and the hotel is beautiful. We ate in the restaurants, enjoyed the spa (I recommend the facial from Brittney!) and took advantage of the sauna and gym. We cant wait to go back in better weather to enjoy the pool and patios!
Our favourite hotel in Ontario. Staff are wonderful, rooms are exquisite, and is situated at a great location close to all the best spots in Picton. Highly recommend! Rooms: Beds are incredibly comfortable.
Were experienced worldwide travelers who have stayed in numerous hotels. We can say, without hesitation, that The Royal is among the finest weve experienced. Considering it is located in a small town, the Royal rivals the better big city European and Asian hotels we have used. The decor is modern and beautiful. The room was comfortable, the linens and bedding top notch. The restaurant was outstanding, food was delicious. But perhaps the most impressive aspect of the Royal was the staff. From the minute we checked-in we were treated like royalty. We had one particular incident that demonstrates how well they treat guests. I had the late night munchies and went to the lobby looking for something to eat. Unfortunately, the kitchen and bar were closed but one of the staff volunteered to bring me a dessert item, this was a first for us. The typical response would have been sorry were closed. But not this hotel, staff go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Loved our experience, we will be back. Walkability: Location is ideal for exploring Picton and vicinity.
We came here for dinner and the staff were quite accommodating and the food was fantastic and fresh. Very interesting design as well.
Brunch is not only great food but a wonderful experience. There is something so enjoyable at The Royal. Not just brunch but any meal.
Came for Countylicious dinner. Fantastic ambiance and food. Will happily come back!
Not going back again even if it s for free. Very awful experience, unsensitized, unable to handle food restrictions and group event, inexperienced staffs, slow service, below average food. Safety: unsensitized restaurant, unable to handle food restrictions Food and drinks: Not going back again even if it s for free. Very awful experience, unsensitized, unable to handle food restrictions and group event, inexperienced staffs, slow service, below average food, not even worth half of the price. Not ready for pre booked event, we have to move the furnitures ourselves. Bugs in water bottle and drinks. I have to send the food back twice even all I wanted is for the food to be fully cooked due to health reason. Fruit plate only has apple. LOL.
This was a great experience, and the hotel and restaurant are amazing. We loved the restaurant and terrace the most because we love trying new menus. It was perfect, as the food, service, and staff were 5 stars . We cant wait to be back. Food and drinks: The food and service at the restaurant and terrace was a 5 star experience that Ive never experienced in 20 plus years. This was a wonderful dinner. We will be back very soon . Everything has been updated and looks perfect. Id highly recommend giving them a try
nice, stylish
Rooms: Rooms are superb, great attention to details, cosy and modern. You feel relaxed and peaceful in a luxurious but not in a bling or obvious way Nearby activities: Main street is really nice, cool coffee shops, great local artisans.
The hotel is absolutely stunning!! Every detail thoroughly thought out. The expert & friendly staff just added to the experience. The restaurants were beyond our expectations as well. We cannot wait to come back!! A huge thank you to The Royal for making our stay so special!! Rooms: Clean and beautiful!! Food and drinks: Everything was delicious!
We spent a wonderful 24 hours at The Royal - we loved every minute - every attention to detail from the stunning physical space itself to the caring joyful staff, delicious food and perfect location in PEC. We will be back for sure.
Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The service is so excellent as to be *restful*; food in the restaurant is very good and nothing is too much trouble. Fantastic attention to detail, like the fact that even appliances in the rooms match the general decor. You ll leave soothed & refreshed.
Great Service, Lovely vibe and decor. Room was excellent. Food was soooo good Rooms: Very Modern and cozy. Rooms : 5/5 |
July 2022. Best restaurant in Prince Edward County. We have a marvelous dinner ; polpette for start follow by the gnocchi and papardelle. I have never eaten polpette so good !! Extra service and very nice place. Even our server spore french with us. 100% perfect!!!
Excellent rooms, excellent spa, excellent food. If you re thinking of booking here, do it!
They have created a fabulous experience. All staff were super friendly. Put it on your bucket list.
The space is beautiful. The service was really attentive, but did lack a BIT of enthusiasm. The drinks were delicious, food was good- for the price point, I was hoping for a little more. All in all, a gorgeous space with pretty good food. We ordered: the bread (amazing), the kale salad (amazing), and then the funghi pizza (pretty good) and the steak (great) frites (meh).
Royal hotel is everything you could wish for visiting Prince Edward County - any time of year: central location, beautiful interiors, impeccable service, tasty food, variety of in inventive cocktails, gorgeous rooms - try out the ones with the fireplace!
This is the most amazing stay we have ever had. Went there with a group of 13 to celebrate my birthday. The service and staff are outstanding. The Chef, is unstoppable with an amazing menu! We will be back! Don t miss the chance to stay here.
Everything about the Royal is incredible! The rooms, the decor, the friendly staff, the spa, the gym and the food is amazing! Can t wait to go back!
My wife and I went for dinner at The Royal Hotel with friends. It was not our first time enjoying the food here, but this experience was not disappointing. I enjoyed the Steak Fritz and had the best Sticky Toffee Pudding ever for desert. While the main was good, the desert was outta the park .
A must see hotel. Loved it
Fantastic stay and food. Every detail has been attended to.
A small hotel that is very relaxing, intimate, and personal. The staff are amazing, the location is great, and it is a hotel where you actually want to hang out. I would definitely come back
This is a stunning boutique hotel in Picton. We visited in the off-season (March) so the place was quiet- ish but the service and food was outstanding. When we checked in, we were greeted to some sparkling wine. A very nice touch. We enjoyed a massage in the spa. A very nice gym with peloton, Finnish sauna. For dinner we had a variety of food and all so delicious and served by attentive wait staff. We were seated in front of the kitchen. It was a bit like watching a tv cooking show. We had the warm olives- a nice blend from France and Italy, the scallops - garnish of maple syrup and watermelon relish was phenomenal, the buckwheat pasta with cabbage - unusual and tasty, the vegetarian dish and the frites with aioli. We use to eat at LeSelect when the head chef, Albert Ponzo worked there. The food here is equally impressive. The dining room is so beautiful. We ate in the front room for breakfast with the sunshine bleating in. Everything about this place is exemplary.
This is our second stay at the Royal and once again they did an amazing job! Friendly staff and awesome food & drink!
Amazing stay! Such lovely staff greeting you from the moment you walk through the door and one of the most beautiful hotels we have stayed in. We were in awe with all the design features and thoughtful touches. Cannot wait to be back and will recommend this to everyone!
We visited the York Hotel restaurant with another couple for a Valentines celebration. The food was amazing, as were the drinks. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We would definitely visit again Food and drinks: The menu has plenty of variety for all pallettes and the drink list has many options, and the on site sommelier was able to provide perfect wine pairings for our dinner. Unfortunately the ossobucco was sold out that evening so we were unable to try it.
We decided to spend a few relaxing days in PEC. We came across The Royal which was fantastic! We were really impressed. I came here first for a little alone time while perusing the little shops and decided to grab a nice glass of wine with a burger and fries to read the new book I just purchased from the book store beside. It was lovely. The floor to ceiling windows allowed ample sunshine and street views while reading in my cozy nook. I booked a facial the same day with sweet Britany who was both experienced and knowledgeable about her trade and their Italian product line (which I purchased). Her facial was extremely relaxing. My skin was glowing! I had a quick sauna before my facial and enjoyed a glass of sparkling water after. It was an amazing afternoon to say the least. My husband and I went back for lunch the next day and brunch on Sunday. Clearly we loved it! We would definitely recommend! Looking forward to coming back in the summer. Walkability: You can walk up and down the strip for hours. So many cute and eclectic shops! Food and drinks: The food was amazing! Very tasty and fresh. From the wine and burger to the Sunday brunch. We were really impressed. It reminded us of another favorite place of ours in Chicago. We will be back! . Noteworthy details: Inviting decor, seating in the bar and lounge area is cozy
My fiancé and I did a one night stay-cation for Valentine s Day, and our visit was nothing short of incredible. The ambiance and architecture of the entire building is so stunning and they really put so much thought into the elements of your room and stay to create a relaxing and pleasant experience. Every staff member we met with during our time there was so welcoming and personable. We enjoyed the library in the back area, some of their delicious cocktails and appetizers, and breakfast the next morning that left us feeling pampered and overjoyed with our stay. Thank you The Royal!
Excellent hospitality and service. The rooms are stunning and the whole experience will leave you wanting to start book your next stay. It s that good. Thank you to everyone for an awesome stay
The food was amazing! Our server was really friendly and cheerful. We had the smoked whitefish mouse (AMAZING!!!) and the insalata di mare. For our mains we had the burger and fries, the gnocchi, Genoa pizza and the vegetarian pasta feature with squash. The whole meal was amazing! The gnocchi was made with a fondula of blue cheese. We are staying at the Royal so will dine again! We stayed at the BOSC and it was a great space for us and our dog.
Rooms: Most beautiful and luxurious rooms Nearby activities: Base 31, Sandbanks, but also great to relax in the hotel and spa Safety: Hotel very safe environment. Lots of staff Food and drinks: Creative seasonal and delicious Noteworthy details: Great Design
Came to The Royal for a few drinks. Ended up having the Nduja pizza too. It was amazing! Everyone there was very lovely, and the food and drinks were really fantastic. Good job everyone! Keep it up
Great rooms, great service and excellent restaurant. Lack of parking and no EV charger on site with a 15 minute walk away in an odd location very frustrating.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Royal Hotel in Picton, Ontario, and I must say, it was a truly regal experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff, offering us a complimentary glass of champagne and room upgrade. They went out of their way to ensure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building, with all the charm and elegance you would expect from a royal residence. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, with all the modern amenities you could need. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we had a great nights sleep every night of our stay. The hotel also has a fantastic restaurant, where we enjoyed the white fish mouse. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. We also had the chance to try some of the local wines, from Huff and beers from Gillingham which were excellent. The location of the hotel is also perfect, right in the heart of Picton and close to all the attractions the town has to offer. Bocado was right across the road which was delicious! We were, able to walk to everything we wanted to see, which was a huge bonus. Be sure when you book your room online to call to ensure you get the room you are hoping for as there are room variations which can be misleading from the photos. We made the mistake of booking a room without a bath despite the photos suggesting there was one. The Hotel understood, and was very quick to accomodate us. Overall, I cannot recommend the Royal Hotel highly enough. If youre looking for a luxurious and elegant place to stay in Picton, this is definitely the place to be.
