Fresh Pasta + Focaccia + Italian Wine.
Onesta made our evening and birthday celebration fabulous! The food is top notch and so was our server. You need to book in advance as it’s a real gem in Picton. We will be back!
Food was really delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely! Our waitress was great and really nice too. Also, if anyone from the restaurant is reading this, I’m begging you to please give me a recipe for your crispy potatoes. Literally the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten!
Portions are very small, so small that our party of 6 went somewhere else after to get more food (McD’s). Basic Italian food, no bread, extra Parmesan or even pepper offered with our meal. Server forgot to mention to the kitchen that one meal was to be lactose free.
Food was delicious, atmosphere was perfect. The reasons for 4 instead of 5 out of 5 are there was no bread served with the pasta, portions were really small for the amout paid.and they wanted a credit card to reserve. We did not reserve but had no issues getting in at 5pm. I ordered the ragu and my husband had the rigatoni.
Onesta is a treat. For lunch: open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, first come, first served. The menu was smaller, we shared the the special, Lasagna, noodles were very tender, made in-house, and the focacchia was still warm from the oven. Desert was the chocolate butini. Try it, trust me. Divine. For dinner the day we arrived: They have an extensive wine list, an interesting non-alcoholic beverage. Camomile lemon-thyme with tonic. Lovely! I had the muscles and braised rapini(spicy), and my partner had the tagatelli. Food arrived piping hot, and the flavour profile was exceptional. The focacchia, made in house. The olive oil is imported. It is located in the heart of Picton. We sat at the bar as we had not made reservations, then moved outside to the patio. Don't miss this, highly to me from a friend. Reservations are strongly recommended.
Book early, we made a 5:00pm Saturday reservation as later times were taken. All courses were delicious, especially insalata Caesar. Friendly and knowledgeable service, easy to exceed the 90 minute timeframe
The pasta made in house here is amazing! My wife and I were able to get a late evening reservation to try the food at Onesta Saturday night while they are still doing a Countylicious menu. The creativity in their dishes paired with the delicious house made pasta is exceptional. We tried dishes on and off the fixed price menu and everything was very well done. We split an Arancini appetizer which was not the best I have ever had, but still really good. The bar is high for me on this dish after touring Sicily to try them all in the land the dish was created. What was exceptional for me was the Green pea, preserved lemon and ricotta starter with chilli oil. This was an inspiringly creative and delicious dish. I had the Scarpinocc pasta as a second course which was stuffed with roasted pear and parsnip in a brown butter sauce with hazelnuts. This dish was the best pasta I have ever had. I enjoy making my own pasta and have been fortunate to enjoy pasta in a number of trips to places around Italy, but none better than this dish. For me, the chocolate desert was a delicious finish but the pasta here was a special treat.
We really enjoyed our Friday lunch here. The burrata was a great start - loved the mint and the peas. Then we got the pork cotoletta and mafaldine - both light, but still filling. Great spot. Friendly service. Highly recommend.
Had the brussel sprout salad. I ate it all and it was good.
Delicious meal ! Had the arancini, and each of us had pasta. Was absolutely delicious ! Service was fantastic ! Small restaurant, make a reservation!
The most delicious food and lovely staff. Would absolutely go back
The best table in Picton!
The food was overpriced, small portions and bland. There was no complimentary bread at the table. We were not offered pepper or parmesan for our pasta dishes. We told the waitress we were not happy with the meals and she replied I have never heard that before and did not do anything to rectify. We sent half our meals back.
No bread at table, no pepper or parmesan offered had to ask Kind of expensive for the portion size with nothing else offered such as bread Will not be returning Food : 2/5 |
Food was poor - my pasta was under cooked. The aracini was disappointing and surprisingly served with a herb aioli instead of a tomato sauce. Small menu that doesn t hit the spot for an Italian restaurant. Service was uncertain on pronouncing Italian words and made all the excuses for no air conditioning, poor food quality and just horrible.
Service was great, cocktails were good, food was mediocre.
One of the best restaurants in Prince Edward County (PEC)! Excellent meal, professional and courteous service and relaxed atmosphere! A must-see wherever you are at PEC!
Perfect place to eat well and especially pasta. A large selection of wine as well. And desserts not to be missed.
Everything was exceptional, I loved that there wasnt a lot of choices on the menu to keep everything fresh. We got the PEI mussel pasta and the bolognese, absolutely delicious, finished our plates in 10 minutes (Oops hihi) will definitely come again when back in the area!
This was more than disappointing....my husband, and I..on a mini vacation to Picton.. who is a a tried and true foodie......tried to share our mutual distaste, for our meal. The chef was dismissivive, didnt want ANY constructive opinions..and was down right rude....to say the least!. The server, however.... was delightful....and I felt badly for her when I asked for my dish to be sent back...first time ever ! We dined on uncomfortable bar stools, and, although my husbands pork chop was OK..the wee potatoes were inedible. My order , spinach stuffed ravioli, ..was expectorated after 1st bite..my husband as well...! UGH! Not fresh...frozen, to be sure. The filling was not homogeneous..clumpy.. inedible! Ist time EVER...posting such a negative review! I do not suggest dining here, and God forbid, to try to make opinion known to the chef. Other than that very negative experience....LOVE Picton...will be back for sure.. just never to dine at this restaurant!
The pasta and apps were excellent, the service and cocktails were not. I have very mixed feelings about this place. I don t think I d ever go again since the negatives would make eating here feel inconvenient.
Small portion, I had a lot of difficulty digesting myself, too fatty. Bench where you sit cute in wood like a church bench so not very comfortable. The bread even if it required potatoes was worth it except just served with oil. I wont go back there.
The perfect, cozy pasta joint. Food is incredible, impeccable service. This is the spot. Vegetarian options: Lots of great vegetarian options
Great space, people and good. Go early and often!
The perfect little Italian place, the pasta rivals some of which I ve had in Europe, hand made every day, the flavours are amazing and the ambiance is perfect, highly recommend.
The food and service are veryyy good. My reason for only giving 4 stars is the portions are too small.
Exceptional food!! Stopped here for lunch and had a meatball focaccia sandwich and mushroom pasta + two desserts. Start to finish, an absolute delight.
Tried their new brunch menu and it was incredible. Honestly, they had me at mortadella eggs benny, but the porchetta and bread pudding will also have me daydreaming about ordering again.
The best meal we ve ever had in Prince Edward County. We ve been visiting from Ottawa on vacations for 20 years, and the food blew us away! I have not had pasta that good since visiting Rome. It is a small restaurant that pays close attention to the quality of the food- just like in Italy. I can t wait to go back.
Absolute gold. This is the spot.
I had the meatball sandwich for lunch this week and it was incredible. My family and I are looking forward to the fixed price menu this Sunday! **two days later** We just had a delicious meal at Onesta. The lasagna (both meat and veg options) were terrific. The spaghettoni and tagliatelle were fantastic. The focaccia bread and the salads were also each delicious. Thank you for making accommodations for our family.
This little hole in the wall restaurant just off Main Street Picton is a wonderful, romantic spot. They have a literal pasta bar, where you can sit at the intimate bar and have fresh pasta and drinks. They have a handful of tables in the back for table-top dining. We reserved a table for two online ahead of time for a special celebration. All the pasta is made fresh in house and the smell is wonderful when you walk in the door. The menu is well thought out and we had trouble deciding everything sounded so good. We shared the beef carpaccio appetizer and ordered the braised rabbit pappardelle and the pork and fennel arrabiatta. Both were delicious and paired perfectly with the Italian red wine we ordered by the glass. I had the panna cotta for desert. Everything was fresh and flavourful. If you are looking for an intimate dining spot, this place is lovely, just book online in advance as they only have a few tables. Service was excellent. I will definitely have to check out their take home offerings next time I am in Picton. Great experience, would highly recommend.
Incredible place / fantastic food / great atmosphere / great owner and operator / friendly staff
Just had a perfect dinner!
Tiny Romantic Italian Diner in Picton. Great knowledgeable service by Gillan and we enjoyed the Countylicious dinner. Unique tasty Italian wine, great pasta and fantastic Tiramisu and to finish of with a smooth Grappa. We will be back. Christian
Okay but nothing great. Not sure why so many rave about the pasta. Only 5 entrees on the menu, all pasta, which they say is homemade. No offer of bread to go with meal, which is totally un-Italian! Service was good but seating is as limited as the menu. Only two red wines by the glass, $15 and $16 per glass. I won t be going back.
THE BEST PASTA WE HAVE HAD...EVER. Food was beyond wonderful and the wines are lovely and unique. The team and owner are warm and the space is intimate and casual. We enjoyed the fresh baked focaccia with our meal, right out of the oven. Even able to buy some sauce to take home!
Honestly, the best pasta in town. Flavours like guitarmonies!
Great food and service. Portions are on the smaller side so I would highly recommend an appetizer. The beef carpaccio is unreal.
Lovely intimate restaurant. Amazing pasta, beautiful focaccia, sinfully good chocolate budino. Helpful knowledgeable service. Will definitely be going back.
Good pasta. We had the spaghettoni and ziti. Worth a stop if you are nearby.
If you want fresh handmade pasta, come and try this restaurant. We had squid ink pasta with shrimp with focaccia bread and it was delicious. For dessert, we had panna cotta and olive bread. If you are not into sweets, definitely give olive bread a try. The pistachio sauce with a tart fruity jam ties it all together. Very cute and intimate space!
Went to Onesta with a group of 8 for a birthday. The person who booked made the booking far in advance and specified that there is a seafood allergy and two vegetarians. Cons: -When we arrived at the restaurant the server told us that one of two mains was a salmon dish. When we asked to have something that respected the allergy request we were told that we could eat the fish or pack it up to take home. -The vegetarian main was not a sufficient substitution- they provided a second round of arancini rather than an actual protein. -We were placed in the back corner of the restaurant and it was hot. To the point where one of the party members phones died and we generally felt unwell which was frustrating when we saw another large party walk through who were put on the patio. Positives: -Pasta was great -Burrata was great -Focaccia was great I would have loved to have provided a better review as the food really is wonderful. But having half of the party unable to enjoy a main was really disappointing. Vegetarian options: Served arancini as the vegetarian main which was also a starter. No vegetarian protein provided. Dietary restrictions: Did not respect a seafood allergy.
Will start off and say the food was really good! Would recommend this place for small parties (2-4 people) that love pasta and focaccia. However we went here with a large party (8 people) for my birthday. I had emailed the restaurant well in advance for the reservation, noting the allergy restrictions that our table had (including nut allergy, seafood allergy, and a vegetarian). The restaurant confirmed that they would be able to accommodate these allergies and dietary preferences with a set menu, however when we arrived at the restaurant the server let us know that salmon would be one of the main proteins. We had asked if we could switch this out given the severe allergy, and she gave the alternative of packing it up in a box and sending it home as it was on the set menu. For a meal that was over $120 per person, I think it s ridiculous to include any item on the menu when an allergy is noted in the reso. If this is not something that can be accommodated that s ok, we would have found an alternative it would have just been nice to let us know in advance of booking. The restaurant also does not appear to have air conditioning (or perhaps it was broken? We re not sure). But it was hot enough that two people s phones had overheated at the table. I realize that the restaurant does not control the weather, however not having any fans, with no air conditioning, made the meal hard to enjoy. Something to consider when coming in the summer especially with a large group as the space is quite cramped.
Delicious and simple. Window bar seats were so cute. Great wine list. Open kitchen concept is lovely and chef was very accommodating for a shellfish allergy. Focaccia was a stand out.
We had a difficult time finding places in PEC open after 5 pm. We found this place and we were seated right away. It s a gem! The food was delicious, the dessert, Budino, tasted like Christmas in a jar. Wine was great. Atmosphere was great! Service was fantastic! We sat outside. It wasn t too noisy. We both loved it. Will go back in a heartbeat
Just had a wonderful dinner! Excellent food, service and ambiance. Will definitely be returning. Worth the almost two hour drive.
I was disappointed with the disregard to dietary restrictions which we listed several weeks in advance when making the reservation. At $120 a head (set menu price + tip, for groups) the restaurant should have been way more accommodating - additionally arancini balls as the vegetarian substitute for the protein is really underwhelming especially considering it was served as an appetizer. Dietary restrictions: did not follow dietary restrictions
Amazing food and ambiance. Fresh and flavourful. Ive been here many times and have always had an incredible experience with both food and service. Would recommend for anyone looking for a curated and intimate dining location.
Small, cute restaurant with great simple fresh pasta and good wine. Service was easy and friendly, solid way to end the day
Tasty food, great vibe.
I enjoyed my pasta. It would be nice to have few more options on the menu.
An amazing little restaurant slightly off the main strip in Picton. The wine selection is something special, with several interesting options which were totally new to my party (ex. A bubbly red and orange wine). The food, from appetizer to dessert, is a delicious experience and the staff really know their stuff. I cant recommend this place enough.
Very disappointed, expectations were higher. services was good. Food was okay. Salad had brown on the lettuce. Main dish was warm not hot. Wine was very young for the price. Patio was very basic.
The inside of this restaurant was romantic, beautiful and very intimate. The patio was small, plain and very basic as well as the two seater tables are the size of a small bed side table. We were offered sparkling water can I get you still or sparkling water we responded sparkling assuming it was free as the waitress with the long dark curly hair offered to then be later charged 8.00 for the bottle we didnt finish or get to keep. The food was good but the pasta portions were very very small and a little undercooked. The waitress we had was very snobbish and had no table side manners what so ever. The waitress kept telling us to get things like the bread and olive oil and we were going to say yes until we realized it was on the menu as a started. This is how it was said Focaccia for you two ladies just like the sparkling for you two ladies You dont offer things unless they re complimentary. The price of wine is ridiculous for such young tasteless wines. The price of everything is very very overpriced for the size of portions and flavor in the drinks. Plates barely fit on the table.
Excellent homemade Pasta... Delectable Delicious Delicate Flavours... Melt in your mouth... Fantastic!
Had a great bottle of wine and delicious pasta! Thank you Alex and staff for an amazing evening. Excellent place to end a long day of exploring Picton. The portions were perfect and everything tasted phenomenal. Would recommend and will be back!!
Portion of plates very ordinary and nothing exceptional. Although good, the cheapest wine on the wine list is $60 per bottle. In short, disappointing for the price and the portions which are ordinary. I do not recommend this restaurant. Parking: Available nearby
We have just eaten the best Italian food ever. Emily the hostess made us feel so at home, she was attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine menu. Steve our chef tonight cooked our choice of food to perfection. Onesta is a real gem in Picton. Cosy, relaxed with an understated ambiance which makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. We re so jealous, we don t have anything like this back home in Scotland.
Very small establishment with great food but also very pricey
My 2 girlfriends and I visited PEC for a girls weekend and it happened to be Countylicious when we were there. We had our friends birthday dinner at Onesta and it was delicious. Its a small, but very quaint restaurant. We loved the dim lighting at dinner time and our waitress (sorry I didnt get her name) was so nice! The Carpaccio was a great starter, full of flavour. I decided to try something that sounded different and the Rigatoni with roasted cauliflower and truffled mascarpone didnt disappoint! Finished off with the Tiramisu and it was so light and fluffy. The espresso martini is also worth ordering!
Great focused Italian restaurant, wonderful pastas along with a fun and conscious wine list showcasing Italian wines made with passion. Dinner on the patio in the summer and Friday lunch are not to be missed.
Our evening at Onesta was fabulous. The service was gracious and the food amazing. Our party enjoyed beef carpaccio, burrata and hot crispy arancini the pastas were divine and arrived piping hot and fresh and the seconding we ordered was the game hen over polenta and it was equally delicious. We shared a dreamy tiramisu for dessert which was light and not too sweet. Overall the dining experience was flawless. Cant wait to return!!!!
Girls weekend/ winetour .Russell from county wine tours sent us .Good call food was amazing this coming from a picky eater whose been in hospitality for 30 years. Short ribs best Ive ever tasted.Cute interior.Go you wont be disappointed !!
This spot was so great! Personable servers, and the menu was simple and delicious.
Delicious Italian eats! Amazing pasta dinners, delightful sandwiches, excellent drinks and coffee
While walking around and exploring Picton we noticed Onesta. We already had a dinner reservation elsewhere but even with full stomachs, the rhubarb panna cotta was calling my name. We stopped in with the intention of just having dessert but then noticed they offered burrata as well and decided to indulge. Thank GOODNESS we did because it was incredible. As a couple who eats burrata frequently, this was one of our favourite preparations of all time. The balance between the soft cheese, crisp pistachios, bitter greens and fresh asparagus was perfection. Not to mention the soft and delicious focaccia that came to accompany it. I would highly recommend ordering it whether you are looking for an appetizer, dinner, or just something for after a meal. We did decide to stay on course and get the rhubarb panna cotta as well. It was truly outstanding. After spending two days just eating and indulging, it was still our favourite dish of the entire trip. The rhubarb? Tart and perfect. The panna cotta? Creamy, smooth and had the highly sought after jiggle. The croquant? Crunchy and dark in a way that balanced it exquisitely. This was THE perfect dessert for anyone! It would satisfy a sweet tooth but would also be amazing for someone who doesnt like things too sweet. Now I know this review is long but our favourite part was the people. Our lovely hostess was effortlessly kind while offering insight and helping us truly understand the thought behind each dish. The chef was also so personable and provided his own reasoning for each component in a way we truly appreciated. If you enjoy knowing the story behind your food, grab a seat at the bar and watch the magic happen! Thank you for ending our evening with full hearts and full stomachs, I can assure you it was our first visit but will not be our last.
We have enjoyed Onestas pasta, burrata, focaccia and other offerings over the past couple of years when it was online order only or from the Picton farmers market. Now that Onesta is firmly planted in a cozy restaurant space were excited to have a dine-in experience. Chef Marty didnt disappoint and the service was stellar. We started with focaccia and olives and had the sweet pea ravioli x 2. We indulged and finished with the Rhubarb Panna Cotta that was to die for - a perfect balance of tart and sweet. Were looking forward to our next visit soon because there are so many other pasta variations we want to try.
Great food! Small menu but everything looked amazing. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the mood for some pasta.
The food and the vibe are unparalleled in Picton.
Had the Campanella with Bolognese and focaccia and it was great. Its worth going a bit earlier to grab a sandwich too before theyre gone.
Very good food and delicious wine. Great small place for nice lunch.
A welcome addition to Picton. Great pasta, very small with a handful of tables but an upcoming outside terrasse will allow more patrons. Well organised for takeouts. My rigatoni was excellent, bread was heavenly and a fabulous Matron local beer, topped by a terrific cappuccino.
Intimate quiet spot, nice ambiance, perfect for a date night. Friendly and attentive service, pasta dishes were delicious, the parpardelle with braised duck rivals the best dishes in the county, a must have.
Amazing food! I havent had a sandwich that good since I was on my honeymoon in Rome, Italy. I will be back!
Incredibly delicious, exceptional atmosphere and wonderful staff. The wine pairings that were recommended were excellent, and everything we ordered exceeded expectations. Would reccomend to any and all seeking good company and great food.
Fantastic pasta, an expertly curated wine program, and an incredibly accommodating and friendly service team - what more could you ask for?
When we arrived no place inside we sat on stools we ordered alrhough disappointed we had no table. We were finally moved. Great service and absolutely delicious food loved it!!5 star for us limitrd menus but great food
Great food, wonderful service and a totally relaxed friendly atmosphere. ALSO, the best pasta on the planet !!!
Delicious food and a great wine selection.
Really delicious pasta in a cozy space. We ll be back.
Fabulous pasta and friendly service.
We ve been loving Marty s fresh pasta, focaccia, olives and ragu sauce for the past few years as he s grown from selling at markets and local breweries to running this great spot tucked away in Picton. A wonderful wine list and simple, artful dishes made with quality local/seasonal ingredients equates to Onesta being one of PECs hidden gems. Highly recommend!
Onesta forever. Have been here twice and have also had delivery during lockdown. Every meal has been magical and made with love. Dining in is an excellent treat to yourself. Service is warm and friendly. Music is also on point. Everything is made from scratch. This is one of my very favourite places to eat. I also love the knowledge and care that goes into their wine list. Thank you for putting romance on a plate
The service here was above and beyond. It is a cute, intimate spot that is perfect for a date night. We had the burrata and the beef carpaccio they were both so delicious. For mains we had the lamb pasta and a rigatoni dish. The dishes are simple yet so flavorful. The pasta itself is very nice! We had a latte and panna cotta to finish and it was a perfect way to end the night. Also the server recommended some amazing wines for our meals. Would highly recommend this place and well definitely be back! Thank you Onesta!
Nice and intimate. Great service
This restaurant is a must, everything was 10/10! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
Delicious handmade Italian food. We went over for lunch and had the pasta and the mortadelle focaccia with a glass of wine. Everything was fresh and really tasty.
The ravioli is one of the best pasta ive had in my life, small portion but i would say its worth the price 10000%
We stumbled on this gem of a place by accident - but we are glad we did! The experience was so good - a simple but excellent menu, great service and a great selection of wine. We will definitely be back.
Top quality food, service and price point. Onestas food just has that taste of homemade/scratch made by a professional. My wife and I enjoyed our dinner and look forward to coming back regularly
I ve been to many Italian restaurants in my life and this was by far the worst one. The wine selection was good hence the one star but the chef needs to hang up his knives. Pasta undercooked. Lamb dish was a salt cake and the focaccia was a Swiss chalet bun. The 300$ price tag didn t help their case either.
Delicious pasta, cooked perfectly and just the right portion! Thanks to Marty and Brandon for an awesome lunch.
Absolutely hands down the best pasta we have had in years. And the staff are so amazing. Best part is you can even take their pasta and sauces home to recreate the joy anytime.
Wonderful pasta, clearly passionate about their food and wine, nice ambiance, excellent service. Although limited menu, you can tell the chef created everything with care. We would come back 100%
Impeccable food from start to finish, reasonable prices, friendly service, perfect dinner!
Really great Italian place with great selection of Italian natural wines. Great vibe.
Oh wow what a great italian night we had there! The food is authentic, well executed and so delicious!
fantastic vibes and amazing food
This review is long overdue. Martin catered my wedding over a year and a half ago. From the beginning he was extremely collaborative and when our venue changed he pivoted with ease and made our dream reception come to life. Our guests are still talking about the food which was one of the most important details for us. Martin absolutely blew it out of the park - we feel so lucky for him to have cooked for us on one of the best days of our lives. Not sure if Martin is catering big events still, but if so look no further - it will be one of the best meals of your life, which is extremely hard for large group but Martin accomplishes just that. Thanks Marty for giving us the most delicious wedding meal we ve ever had.
We had the best dinner experience here at Onesta. What a gem here in Picton. All the food was soooo good and the service was incredible. Thanks to our waitress, Emily for making it so perfect. You must eat here if you are coming to the County!
Visited for the first time during Countylicious 2022 and was disappointed. We ordered the prix fixe menu and the entire experience was underwhelming for the price point. Our server was lovely but a few things, like clearing my partner s plate and cutlery but not mine, was disappointing. Appetizers were tasty but the accompanying focaccia bread didn t seem fresh. The pasta with bolognese was chewy and light on the sauce. The squash ravioli was a soft and beautiful pillowy texture but unfortunately the accompanying sauce was bland and resembled more of a broth. And the desserts of tiramisu and chocolate budino were unmemorable. With the addition of wine and a few extras of a side dish of olives and a couple of espressos, the entire meal came to almost $250. Other Countylicious meals we had over the weekend were less $$ and far better. For that price point, I do expect a lot more.
