Asked for a ceaser salad and crispy fries for take out and they seemed offended I would ask and said they dont offer take out food.

Staff are doing a great job.. but clients were extremly loud so we couldnt understand each other without yelling... price is over price ambience, just go at McDonald.. youll have pretty much the same ambience.. dont go there for a date no go

Youre making fun of me for accepting the proposed fish salad (fries replacement ) by your waitress ? ? Hence the big anticipation we all had for the best adder of 9$ salad . Which obviously came to a funny disappointment, where I believe it was you that came in grumpy . I guess we will never understand each other. I hope you listen to constructive criticism in the future . Either way I wish you the best , peace ------ What a tourist trap. We spent I think 350$ and had to go eat more after Tiny portions Waitresses have good intentions. But seem very young and inexperienced. Especially if you factor with the 18% forced tip Fries are Costco fries Tiny portion 9$ adder for tiny salad Drinks were very weak but still full price The manager didnt seem to care when she served us and didnt seem happy We respectfully told the waitres our opinion when she asked at the end . But no one cared Positives Oysters were good Maybe I just have to accept. Its the main street and I shouldnt go there as a regular of the island . But at this price. I expect proper dining .

Had the chance to try this spot when visiting PEC, and unfortunately was left disappointed. Shrimp cocktail was great, very large shrimps, however the lobster/shrimp roll was tiny and 90% shrimp... did not justify the price

We wife and I shared the seafood caesar salad. there was barely any dressing and 3 good size shrimp, we both had the seafood bowl and the broth had no taste of white wine or olive oil, basically tastes like hot water and sliced garlic. Dessert was excellent, I had a blueberry sundae, and my wife had the orange chocolate with paprika. The seafood bowl broth was very disappointing.

Went here for dinner Saturday night with a group of 6, reservation was for 715, we went at 630 and asked if table was ready if we could come early, immediately told no even tho the table was ready and empty, along with many other tables. We sat down at 715 and ordered drinks, after waitress brought our drinks we went to order, we were told they had 1 lobster dinner left and sold out of mussels, clams, oysters. It would have been nice to been told this before we ordered. Ended up all getting the shrimp and Caesar salad, the Caesar salad was 5 pieces of lettuce and the shrimp were watery, when you took a bite water spit out of it. Asked waitress for ketchup and pepper, never came back. Service and food was terrible and extremely expensive.

I ve been to the Blue Sail about a dozen times, and it never disappoints. My favorites are smoked trout dip, crab cakes, halibut, sausage and shrimp linguine .. the fish and chips should be a food group it s sooo good. The restaurant itself is quaint, inviting and the art on the wall suits the rest of the décor. The service is amazing and the wine list is reasonably priced. Would highly recommend - if you are a true sea food lover, this place is a gem.

Disappointed with our orders, they mixed up our orders! We ordered one starter two main dishes the manager has attitude & didn t come to apologize! Will never go again!

Highly recommend this restaurant for an intimate 5-star dining experience. The staff was welcoming and attentive. The salmon was prepared and seasoned with perfection. The blueberry dessert was a must to finish the perfect dining experience. I will return each time I am in Picton. Thank you!

The food is fresh & delicious & interesting; even the carrots are better than anybody elses carrots! The service is cheerful & prompt. I was puzzled to see that someone found the portions small -- Ive always found them more than generous.

I heard the cook yelling. Unsure if it is directed at the employees. For me the time waited for the main meal was around 20 minutes. Waiter and waitress were good though.

This cozy little restaurant was amazing ! The seafood is so fresh because they own a fish shop next door. The owner Jeff & his wife started this during covid and it s flourishing. Great service & food was beyond! Old classics playing: it s a must!

The portions are quite small, and Im a pretty light eater to begin with. We had the shrimp caesar salad and the sea bowl. The server was nice.

A solid three stars. Sadly, for PEC, Id say there are better options if you have to spend $30-40 on a dish. TLDR: The portion sizes were small, the presentation was not appealing/creative, and taste was quite basic. The tartar sauce/fish and chips wasnt flavourful at all. It was strangely bland. Side Cesar salad was about 3 forks worth and we were charged $9 for that - cant imagine how much I would have gotten if Id ordered the $20 version! Our guests had the sea bowl (didnt complain) and the lobster roll. The lobster roll tasted like it was slathered in mayo, on an upscale hotdog bun. It wasnt what we expected and taste was not satisfying. They didnt end up finishing it :/ We also ordered the salmon which was cooked in a very generic way with a scoop of veg on the side... nothing much different than youd get at a mom and pop diner. (A solid 3 stars but for the competitive market in PEC we expected more.) And sadly my partner said one of the side potatoes (just one of them) tasted rotten or mouldy and he had to spit it out. The server came and asked how the food was, and I tipped my head to say so-so and she walked away without saying a word Overall we ended up paying about $160 per couple (including oysters to start, and drinks) which is sad because for that amount we should have gone to a nicer restaurant. It was a little embarrassing taking our guests here and them not enjoying the best PEC offers. However, I did enjoy the fries though, and our guests really enjoyed the oysters and the flavour options that came with the oysters were most interesting and diverse! 5 stars for the oysters. Having written all this Ive read past reviews and the owners/PR team seems quite nasty and disrespectful to guest reviews (which, Id imagine is not an endearing when hoping for repeat customers) so we will see how this one lands

This is a great find! All the food was absolutely wonderful and the service was great, super friendly and helpful. Good portion sizes, we left feeling full. Definitely will be back.

What a great little spot. We had the Surf and Turf and the Risotto(scallops) both where delicious. The steak was so tender and cooked perfectly.

Stumbled on the website while browsing for fresh dry scallops. Chanced a 35 minute drive on Thursday afternoon. The website indicated fresh deliveries were made after 3 p.m., so I made sure to arrive a shortly after. I was not disappointed. The scallops were indeed, dry; fresh and not packed in the STP solution that is found at most seafood counters. PSA: (STP is Sodium Triphosphate. Its in that milky-looking, white liquid that makes your scallops gain up to 40% more weight by absorbing the chemically-treated water and when cooking, will boil your scallops instead of allowing them to sear properly.) The expected size was U 12-15 (pieces per pound) and Jeff, the owner and I had a frank discussion about value versus size. He was honest in his assessment that larger scallops like U 8-10 were priced at a premium he could not justify to his clients. Hence his reason for carrying the 12/15s. Later, when I split the package, I had exactly 12 in each half. So the scallops were all U 12s with none of them on the small end of the range. Fresh arctic char, jumbo tiger shrimp, Chilean Sea Bass, beet-cured smoked salmon (like sushi!), an artisan smoked char spread and a handmade garlic and chive butter were among some of the other things I stocked up on pre-Holidays. Jeff, the chef and proprietor, was there and personally assisted with my selections. He graciously explained preparation methods and even shared a video showing the proper way to cook the char I picked. As a seafood aficionado, I really appreciated finding an outlet closer than Toronto for real scallops and fresh, top-quality seafood. Might be advisable to call/order ahead for quantity or specialites. This was a good find. Edit: Added a photo of the beet cured smoked salmon. Utterly delicious.

Went to Blue Sail for dinner for Fall Countylicious 2023, I was expecting more. I know these foodie events can be hit and miss, but we were the first table in. I had a fish and vegetable plate, the fish was okay - too much sauce and the veggies were overcooked and didnt have much flavour. My friends pasta dish was just ok, she said that the noodles were inconsistently cooked. The cheesecake was nothing special, but the chocolate was good. The wine was the best part, so thats a positive. For what we paid, about $60 for the set 3-course menu, I didnt feel it was worth it. I also found the restaurant to be cold and the service was not on point. Hope this feedback helps.

We went on a Sunday night in off season. The food was so delicious. We had oysters, ahi tuna, seafood chowder and shrimp pasta. Service was amazing!! Will certainly be be back. Recommend reservations for sure.

New to the area and wanted some fresh seafood. Got their ahi tuna and salmon at a pretty reasonable price. It was absolutely divine. Will definitely go back for more. Got half dozen oysters as well that we had with a quick homemade mignonette. Out of this world.

Good review time! Wow!! So in the search for fresh white fish (our local metro is not cutting it and we havent had good white fish from there for a while probably due to supply chain issues) , mom and I took a drive into Picton to Blue Sail Seafood Market and Restaurant. We met the chef Jeff and had a chat about the ever so increasing price of food and lack of seafood markets in the area. Belleville used to have Kalays. Kingston has Mike Mundells. Jeff told us his story how he changed careers and became a chef! Great decision! Anyhow we bought some halibut and salmon. Went into Belleville to pick up some items then came back through Picton. On the way we decided what the heck. Its probably going to be our last outing and drive for a while and we went back to Blue Sail. The hostess, and I believe owner, Rachel stated that because we didnt have a reservation we were probably not able to be served. Their supply was running low. She said hold on and went to speak with Jeff the chef. He took a look at us and said ahhh yes the ladies from *****. Come on in! I ordered the scallops and risotto, and a garden salad to keep it legal to the diet (oops) and mom ordered the maple glazed rainbow trout. We were treated to an Ahi Tuna on Wonton crisp. Totally out of our comfort zone but absolutely delicious!! The meals came out and I dont remember ever smiling and eating. Ive never had risotto before so cant compare it, but wow!! Delicious! Moms dish looked wonderful as well and she said it was awesome. I didnt take pictures because I didnt want to lol. Just wanted to enjoy the experience! Its a definite go again restaurant!! Thank you Jeff and Rachel for the wonderful experience and fitting us in!

Called to reserve food at the market today, was told that that can t be don despite it saying to do so on their instagram. The manager messaged me to clear things up. Very polite and professional. I appreciate the effort they took. Ended up just walking in and picking up the food. Highly recommend. Everything is delicious and staff is great.

Mediocre food, over priced for what you get. Stingy on the sea food. This was our second time trying the Blue Sail. First time was shortly after opening so while we didn t have a good experience we thought could have been early growing pains. Unfortunately this second time wasn t better. The food is overpriced and small portions. The seafood chowder has lots of potatoes and an abundance of carrots but little sea food. Same with the pasta. The crab cake was really small for $15. We were so excited when a seafood restaurant came to town but sadly we won t be back.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner here and I highly recommend. I had a scallop risotto with large sea scallops perfectly cooked. Mussels in white wine and garlic beforehand were outstanding. My husband had a crab cake and the lobster and shrimp roll, which he said was delicious. Great fries. His roll and the baguette I got with the mussels tasted homemade. I don t understand some comments about small portions. I disagree. I finished with the homemade chocolate bark and a great cup of coffee. Attentive staff and a pleasant setting.

Am a black man and I went in lunch time and take out lunch and went back for dinner with my black brother and a lady told us today Friday that we cant order and only reservations, little they know I check the website before went there. I will just go spend my money at a black business

My husband and I have been looking for quality lobster in our area since we moved a year ago. We stumbled across the Blue Sail fish market through google search. We drove an hour and happened to get the last two fresh live lobster of the weekend (we will pre-order next time). The lobster was fantastic! East Coat approved! We will be back, Jeff and Rachel foster a warm and welcoming atmosphere and next time we will also stop for lunch. Nice to have a slice of that east coast lifestyle near home.

Friendly atmosphere as described in Blue Sails website, is not what you will receive...Let me tell you how despicably my Wife was treated yesterday, by a women who works their with dark hair...Just a note: This is NOT HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE... I phoned yesterday a few times during open hours no one answered, so we decided to drive into Picton to the restaurant. My wife walked in, stood at the main entrance where the host asked from across the restaurant can I help you? My wife walked up to her and asked if there was any possibility of three people getting in for dinner? She said not at this time but if you come back in half an hour and depending on the weather, (to allow for people on the patio to come in, if it rained). So.we walked around for half an hour and when we returned, she flatley denied us any type of service, and said we cant get you in. We were told that we could not ve accommodated inside or outside, as the patio was also closed and had a sign indicating so... As we were rudely refused we left the restaurant my wife noticed another couple trying to get into the restaurant, who told us they didnt have a reservation. This couple and my family all walked away. As we drove by the restaurant we noticed the same couple previously being seated on the patio when it was supposedly closed. After seeing this my wife was justifiably quite upset. So my wife went back into the restaurant and confronted the host asking Why they were seated and we werent? She told us they werent there to eat they were only having drinks and oysters my wife asked are oysters not food? She had no answer. So here is our question to the owner and anybody reading this review why did we get discriminated by and why was the other couple, let in to have drinks and mussels, and we were so RUDELY DENIED? Keep in mind, we also had our 11 year old Daughter with us when this all occurred. I would like the Owner to explain how another couple that arrived an hour or so after us (With no reservation), were able to sit at the closed patio, to have Oysters and drinks and we were denied any type of Service? I think this will be quite hard to answer, and just a recommendation, you treat people the same, and dont chose one couple over another!

The food was very, very good! We had the calamari, pasta, caesar salad, and fish and chips. It was my mom s birthday so the staff was very accommodating about bringing out a slice of cake for her. I would eat here again if I found myself in Picton! Delicious food and a great atmosphere with friendly staff!

The Blue Sail is our favourite restaurant in Picton, our go-to local. The food has always been good & the servings ample. The place is small & cosy & we feel as though the staff really want us to have a happy experience. Im sorry some people havent been happy, & I urge them to try again -- maybe they hit a difficult day or time. Running a restaurant these days is no picnic. Thank you, Jeff & Rachel, for persevering! Vegetarian options: Well, it is a fish & seafood restaurant, so you cant expect too much in the way of dishes without fish or seafood in them, but there are salads & breads. Dietary restrictions: They did very well by a friend of ours with multiple dietary problems, juggling dishes to make sure she got what she could eat. Parking: The street is sometimes tricky -- easiest to park in the free municipal lot overlooking Delhi Park & walk for three minutes.

The following review is for the Seafood Market: As a sushi fanatic it is such a relief to have found a local provider for sashimi quality fish! The seafood offered by The Blue Sail is always fresh and of the highest quality. You will NEVER buy seafood from a supermarket ever again. Jeff and Rachel are both great to deal with and I am happy to make the trip from Belleville every week.

I ordered the salmon which was raw in the middle. I nicely showed the server and asked for it to be grilled again. It was microwaved. And my sisters food was getting cold as she waited. I know it was not microwaved the entire time we waited. It would have been nice if they comped something...at minimum a drink. But nothing was offered. We found the food mediocre and overpriced. The service was extremely slow. We were not even asked if we would like to order a drink. Very disappointed with The Blue Sail.

We detoured a long way to get to the restaurant at 5pm on a Saturday evening because google said theyd be open. Turns out the market was open but the restaurant was closed. Not great. Please keep your real open times updated. We had to go elsewhere in a pinch. **Update** Allow me to rephrase. I was surprised by your response 6 months after my original disappointment. I had forgotten the apparent mixup until you apparently discovered my comments and decided to make me feel WORSE about your business, rather than better. I probably would have tried to visit again. Thanks for the warning. I wont make that mistake.

Highly recommend the Blue Sails seafood market - the quality of the food is exceptional, and prices are very reasonable. We get salmon steaks, lobster, and both fresh and frozen shrimp from them on a weekly basis. Theres a wide variety of options depending on your preferred price point - we tend to opt for higher quality product when we have company, but theres a lot that works well day-to-day too. Id suggest placing an order in advance in possible to ensure widest possible variety, but its definitely worth dropping by as they are typically very well stocked. I also recommend their sauces, garlic butter, spicy mayo, and baguette too.

Despite the lockdown, the quality of seafood is outstanding! The oysters have been a hit everytime Ive purchased them but the beet cured smoked salmon takes the cake. Its simply the best smoked fish I had in a long time. Theyre also fantastic with the small things ex. Oysters cleaned ready to shuck.

fresh seafood, amazing friendly staff, if you are looking for an awesome place to get some high quality food, good service and also the chance to buy the ingredients for a great meal (seafood market), look no further. i love this place, and every time I am in Picton ON, all the meals that they offer (usually lunch and dinner), I am there. they accompany good food with a great drinks selection. cant recommend it enough. 15 out of 10 for food and service.

recently went there for the first time, love the staff, Jeff, took the time to explain how I should cook the lobsters I bought and great help in pointing out what goes best with the other foods I had in mind cooking, very impressed by quality and of course staff, love to go back to try the restaurant when I can.

After a six-hour drive to Picton, we were looking for a place to eat dinner as I was starving. After being turned away from a couple of restaurants with no available tables, we came across the blue sail restaurant. I ordered the grilled Atlantic salmon. After 25 minutes, the server brought me my food. I was so famished and took a bite of the fish. It was incredibly undercooked, extremely pink and clearly not safe to eat. I informed the server and requested her to cook it. She brought the plate into the kitchen and came back five minutes later, warning me about how hot the plate was. Since you cannot grill a plate, she clearly microwaved the undercooked fish and thought this was an adequate solution. I took another bite out of the fish, and it was still uncooked, pink, and the texture confirmed that she merely microwaved the fish. I told the server that it was still uncooked and expressed my disappointment to her. She didn t have a solution, and she packed the fish up for me in a takeout box to cook at home while I m on vacation. If I had to cook fish at home, why would I pay this restaurant $35? I am immensely disappointed by the horrible customer service and poor quality of food. I have never had an experience as problematic as my dinner at the Blue sail this evening. Meanwhile my daughter ordered a delicious poutine from the Vic Cafe as the blue sail could only offer her lettuce. I would highly recommend going to the Vic Cafe instead, better customer service too.

Had the mussels and salmon burger. Everything was so good its hard to choose a favorite. Friendly service and they even brought a water dish out for the pup. Cant wait to go back!

Fantastic! The sausage and shrimp pasta is by far some of the best pasta I ve had in years. Highly recommended!

Been a few times and absolutely love it! Fresh seafood dishes at reasonable prices, flavour is always on point and also texturally too! Clearly a lot of thought goes into the menu and execution so kudos to the chef and thanks for maintaining consistent hours even in the off season!

Soo much potential, but... extremely over priced. My wife ordered the shrimp and recieved 5 small shrimp on a skewer for $24.00 and nothing else. They were cold and didnt appear to be grilled. The server forgot about our bottle of wine. We kindly brought this to the owners attention, as we want them to be successful and was rebuffed. As with all restaurants; food plus labour cost should be 60 perc of sales... this is clearly not the case here. Please get you prices in line with industry norms.

Not the place to go for a nice dinner. Both meals cold and had to be returned. Owner/ mgr. not concerned enough to walk over to the table. Portion size not great but acceptable. Portions of my steak were grissly and chewy. It was our first time trying the new restaurant and it was a disappointment. No rush to return.

Ambience and service was very good . Ordered the fish and chips and was extremely disappointed with portion size of fish. Haddock is definitely a cheaper fish and should allow for a decent size piece. Because of the the small thin piece it ended up overdone and chewy. The plate was offset with an abundance of very good tasting fries. Coleslaw was great but then again very little. Expected more from a higher end seafood place

One of our favourite restaurants! Weve had lovely experiences dining in; but since Covid weve taken advantage of their weekend specials. So delicious!! This time we had salad, entrees and desserts for 2, added our own rice and shared between 3 adults. Plenty of food and such wonderful flavours. So lucky to have these folks in the community!

Best seafood I ever tasted

Our 20th anniversary celebration almost was a disaster but Blue Sail saved the day. We had to leave our original dining choice after a series of service mistakes so arrived in this casual venue attended by an enthusiastic Jason, whose energetic charm got things off to a great start. The salmon tartare was perfectly seasoned as was my risotto topped with pan seared scallops. My SO s ciopino was a delicious fennel-tomato base with shrimp, mussels, white fish and clams. The comped carrot cake was the sweet finish to an evening orchestrated by people who care about their customers as much as they do the food.

If you are looking for unbelievably fresh fish and great service look no further. This place is amazing!!!

Not impressed! The server was nice, but very stressed every time she came to the table. No one wants to see that! The calamari portion was so little. We ordered mussels but she said they were out, people came 15 minutes after us and they did get mussels! Will not give them my business again!!

The food was tasty but small portion size in comparison to the price you pay! The seafood dish (ciopinno) was flavourful but the mussels and clams were quite small and the portion of fish was really not enough...Also would recommend you go earlier as they ran out of the dishes we wanted to order(the clam linguini and carrot cake.) For $65 including tip..(2 mains)... really expecting a bit more!

Shrimp risotto + fish n chips was excellent!

What a nice surprise! We were lucky enough to discover the Blue Sail by driving by and popping in to see if they had a table. Ordered the linguine with shrimp and spicy sausage and it was perfectly done - just the right portion size, pasta perfectly al dente, flavour incredible. Caesar salad was wonderfully made, and delicately seasoned. All together a wonderful meal and the staff are great, too. Highly recommended!

The Ahi Tuna Wontons are tasty! Great service!

Pretty hit and miss in the store. Staff seem interrupted by customers. Inventory - even frozen stuff - is very sketchy.

We absolutely loved The Blue Sail. Nice cozy atmosphere, very nicely designed interior and the food was amazing, as well as friendly attentive staff. I had the the scallops with cauliflower purée and my girlfriend had the beet salad with mussels on the side. The scallops were perfectly cooked, plate presentation was very good.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner last Friday, and overheard the neighbouring table raving about the Haddock and chips. I had delicious Tuna Ahi and Scallops cooked to perfection. My wife s shellfish allergies were carefully considered, settling on a nice Ceasar and excellent grilled Atlantic Salmon. Service was very prompt and friendly. Excellent local wines offered. Enjoyed Broken Stone Riesling and Sans Chen Chardonnay.

We had a great server who was very attentive to our needs and the dishes were cooked to perfection. Will deffinatly be retuning.

Great dining experience combined with excellent service by Jason. We had four different dishes at our table.- lobster risotto, Arctic char, tuna, and seared scallops All were excellent and cooked to perfection. Small cozy dining area. Light music in the background. Perfect for conversation around the table. We ll definitely be back.
