Akasaka Japanese Restaurant in Pitt Meadows

Our office has been eating in and ordering takeout from this lovely restaurant for 4 years now and we love it more than ever. Amazing quality food - definitely a step above the average. Very generous size dinner boxes! Cant wait to sit down inside again or on the back patio in summer. Update Nov 2024: still as good as ever, still come here for lunch every couple weeks. So great to have quality sushi in the neighbourhood

Great food wish it was closer to home

We have had dinner here twice in the last 8 weeks. The food and the service were exceptional on both occasions.

Food came quickly and it was delicious! Server was fast and polite. Music and atmosphere was great. Definitely going back!

It is a nice cozy place. Its a heritage restaurant so everything is very vintage design, which is nice. Food is very tasty. I highly recommend this place.

Stopped here for lunch the other day and had a positive experience overall. The restaurant itself is charming, being located in a heritage home just off Harris road. The menu includes a few details on the homes history, which was a nice touch. I ordered one of their lunch boxes, along with an extra roll on the side. The food was good overall - I was a bit underwhelmed by my California roll, but the sashimi was fresh, and I enjoyed the sauce the put on my spicy tuna roll. The cost felt a bit high considering the quality, but I was still pleased with everything overall. Certainly worth a try if youre in the area.

Dined here recently. The ambience was cozy. Food was decent however size of the shrimp was tiny in the udon. The Karage was not authentic and was made out of wings. A good experience.

Havent gone in awhile my daughter and her boyfriend took me after a movie the food is still amazing and the service is great and its was my dads favorite Japanese restaurant before he passed we went alot back then so it was a good memory to go back there and eat I missed it

Nice little local restaurant, the place was clean and welcoming. I had takeout so I didnt dine in, but the food was good, although the tempura wasnt as hot and fresh as I wouldve liked and the tempura sauce (cant remember the name) was just not sweet enough for me. Other than that the portion sizes were ok, flavour was good but not great. The cucumber rolls almost fell apart and the cucumber part was fairly warm and not chilled. Items I tried : tuna Maki, sunomono, assorted tempura, salmon nigiri, miso, cucumber role.

I ate here a couple of times and the food is great but i recently went there with a friend and I am getting ghostly vibes the eerie feeling of spirits around us! It was very strange but either than that the food is delicious. Just curious how the workers deal with the paranormal ??!

Food was AMAZING! We just moved to Pitt Meadows and decided to try this cute sushi place on a heritage house. We were so impressed by the quality of the food and the price! We ll be regulars for sure. Maybe next time I ll take a photo to share here - the plating was beautiful, but we were too excited to eat it and forgot to take a pic! Good job, Akasaka! :)

Seriously the best sushi restaurant around!! This is always my go-to place. The service is excellent, fish is always fresh and tasty, and they have some of the best rolls I ve ever had. The American roll, Hot Knight and anything with fresh salmon or tuna is always delicious. I ve had a LOT of sushi, and definitely recommend this place

This is my go to sushi place. I am so, so picky when it comes to sushi. This place has never disappointed. I literally won t order from anywhere else.

BEST tempura Ive ever had! Great portion and super HOT. Yam tempura roll and dynamite roll were great! Ordered and ready in 23mins. They even put spicy mayo on my yam roll. Only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is we had take out and a small order. Next time we go we will eat in and have the full experience. The building is small and quaint. Looking forward to our next visit. Were new to the area so Im so happy weve found our local sushi place.

I really wanted to love this place. Tried them for a second time and I can safely say I won t eat there again. The salmon teriyaki was terrible. Overall bland, dry, small portions and overpriced.

Great mango and Las Vegas roll!

Came here for dinner on New Years Eve and it was fantastic! The food + sake was tasty and the atmosphere was so cozy. Will definitely be back!

This place is great gets a little colder in the winter being a heritage building but that being said friendly staff and the food is really good

Good little neighborhood restaurant. Food was good but nothing really special. California rolls were a little fishy smelling and the gyoza were a little bland.

Over a dozen visits/take outs over the last two years and I have nothing negative to say. Consistently good, albeit slightly more expensive than other choices, but worth it in my opinion. Nice heritage house atmosphere and setting if dining in too!

I took my parents here for diner and they were very impressed with the food and service. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, and our rolls were very well prepared.

I always get the Bento Box lunch here but have tried different rolls here too. One time, we had a Japanese exchange student and we picked up Sushi from here too. When the Sushi Chef found out why, he included many special items at no cost! Our student was impressed with the quality of the food. I always enjoy my Bento box here but would hope that the one chefs choice item on my box would change, its always been the same. Good food for a good price. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options to choose from. Parking: Lots of available parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp for easy access for everyone.

Had a great experience here at Akasaka Japanese Restaurant! My parents tried the Toronto roll and crispy roll which they both enjoyed. I got the dinner box C which had delicious tofu teriyaki and I recommend it for vegans and vegetarians and everyone. It was a little scary being there at night because it was an old house and I was feeling a cold draft so I thought it may have been a ghost but I m sure it was just the fireplace. Anyways a good top in Pitt meadows :)

best ebi gyozas Ive ever had, one of, if not the best sushi in Maple ridge/Pitt meadows area. Such kind staff and the sushi is so fresh, you know you are getting your moneys worth when eating here.

Cutest little sushi house with super nice private patio in the summer. Their sushi is always made well and quality is consistent. I believe this is a family run restaurant so support your local small businesses and order from here! You won t be disappointed.

Delicious food both in person and pick-up to go. Easy and safe process for making and picking up takeout orders.

Ordered their teriyaki chicken bowl. Was really disappointed. It was topped with little hard dry pieces of dark meat. There was no moisture left in the meat at all. Im used to places that serve moist strips of chicken in teriyaki sauce and this was quite a departure from that. Even the little carrots were extremely dry, you could see little white lines on them indicating they had dried out in the fridge. Also ordered tempura, which was really good, but its pretty hard to screw up tempura. Wont go here again.

This place will last through the Zombie Apocalypse. Appetizer tempura is great too.

I have always had a good experience at this location however sometimes the portions are on the smaller end. Lots of items to choose from off of the menu as well.

Waited about 20 mins to order becuase their main priority was take outs. customes who came up after us got prioritized. Didnt even get a water so we decided to walk out to be able to get fed.

Hands down one of my favourite sushi places. We took a big walk at Pitt Lake and then went there afterwards. Its in a heritage house with owners that have been there for a long time. You need to get the Haru Roll. So good!!!

Lovely ambiance, relatively fast service and good sushi... all that I need. We will be coming again.

My mom and I have been regulars here for close to 10 years. It is the best sushi in Ridge Meadows! They have amazing Agedashi Tofu and Gyoza. The atmosphere is great and we love the patio in the summer or sitting next to the fire place in the winter. The staff at Akasaka are the friendliest and we always have such great service from their waitress. You won t find a kinder person in the restaurant industry. Highly recommend eating here!

This is my go to place in Pitt Meadows for delicious Japanese food. The quaint character house and friendly staff make it a please to eat in or take out.

Pricier than others and their teriyaki sauce is probably the worst I have ever had. Not going to come back for sure.

I lived in this neighborhood when I was young and went often. Its a Japanese restaurant, but its run by a Korean, so it was really delicious. Ill come visit you next time I go to Vancouver. take care of yourself!

Good but pricey

Pretty disappointed, I ordered two rolls from here tonight and as I opened the second one I found a hair just on top of my roll. I know this is not mine because I have long brown hair, this has as you can see is a short black hair. With everything going on right now you would think that they would pay attention to the quality of their food and the health and safety of their customers.

This sushi place is one of the hidden gems of Pitt Meadows. By far the best sushi in BC. The ingredients used seem to be extremely fresh and flavourful. The service was done through window, and was quick, no wait times. The prices are very decent as compared to the product served.

I tried giving this place a second chance, will never go to this restaurant again. The fish tasted like it had been sitting out for a l still am trying to get the fishy taste from my mouth and I only had one piece of my spicy tuna roll.

Our all time favourite sushi spot! We love the spicy tuna roll, it s a little more tangy and flavourful than those we ve had at other sushi restaurants, and the Las Vegas rolls are to die for. The restaurant is arranged throughout an amazing old house with lots of history and the service is always warm and friendly. We recently moved away, but always make sure to come in while we re in town.

Cute little cottage. Its a very old Japanese style restaurant with detailed interiors. Food is great with lots of sushi options. In Pitt meadows near the railway station.

Great Japanese restaurant

Cute place in a historic farmhouse. The sushi menu is broad with all the usual suspects and a number of creative rolls. Presentation is nice and thoughtful for each dish. The service was efficient and the food came quickly. Overall a good sushi experience, but nothing really wowed me.

Delicious food and great service on the deck in forest setting. Really great seafood salad, avocado roll and mango roll. Only thing I didnt enjoy was the orange juice. Otherwise fantastic experience.

High-quality ingredients. Sushi is always fresh. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. A little expensive but only because it s some of the best quality sushi in Ridge/Meadows. highly reccomend

Awesome sushi and service

Veggie tempura was good, but rolls were fishy-tasting and not fresh. However, the worst part of our experience was my wallet was stolen from the top of the table by a staff member/our server. We called the police, who attended, but could not search the premises or the person, despite her extremely guilty demeanor and poor attitude. The restaurant does not have video surveillance, nor helpful staff. Staff refused to help us look for my attractive DESIGNER wallet that I know was taken off the by staff in the building.

Freshly prepared traditional dishes. Nicely presented. Bento Box with shashimi was an excellent lunch choice. Wild salmon, not farmed!

Best sushi place in Pitt Meadows for a cozy date night or family dinner. The staff are so friendly and the sushi is a fusion style and really fresh. I really love the baked salmon roll is our favorite. The little patio in the back is so nice for a warm evening. The cozyhouse is worth checking out as part of Pitt Meadows history. Definately worth it for eating in or take out

This has been our regular local go-to for sushi & Japanese meals for 13 years and counting. Food is fast & tasty. The little heritage house provides a neat, cozy setting and the outdoor area is lovely in summer as it has some natural shade so nice even on super hot summer days. The staff are and always have been professional, friendly and very polite.

Without a doubt one of the best places I have eaten. Incredible freshness, great value and the staff are AMAZING! I will be back many times in the future, love this little gem in our community!!!

We have been going to Akasaka since I was a kid, and am always happy with the food as well as the excellent service. I LOVE the servers and chefs, they are always so kind and personable, they also have great recommendations whenever we need to switch up the usual (but they are always happy to supply us with the same order we almost always get (; ). We will keep coming back for years to come.

Akasaka is our go to sushi restaurant in Pitt Meadows. Weve be going there for the last 15+years. Food is always good and staff is very friendly. They always ask about our family when we go in and we appreciate them as part of our community.

We ve been to this location numerous times and not once have we had a bad experience. Our waitresses have always been amazing and responsive! The food is amazing and I m not even a sushi kinda guy! Akasaka s environment is extremely warm and inviting. Everybody should give them a try!

The food was ok..the patio was nice..the patio furniture not so much and the service was pretty slow...took us awhile to get refills on water...but the prices were decent so thats a plus.

Delicious food... the chef has excellent imagination. The only reason this review does not get five stars, is the venue. As you can see by these photos, the venue is not Japanese. But... but... indoors or out, you get excellent food and excellent service. Try the Toronto Roll! I love to order it to go, when I need dinner in a hurry.

MOST AMAZING SUSHI AND MOST AMAZING STAFF/OWNERS ! I order from here EVERY WEEK ! its THAT good! Fast and friendly service too. Sashimi is always the freshest and the rolls are delish !
