Beautifully decorated for the holiday season. As usual, service was top notch. This tine, I ordered (new to me) the milk fed calf liver. It was amazing and not surprised it is a top selection. My wife had the rack of lamb. Add the terrific wine, and the whole lunch was amazing. Kid-friendliness: Not really for kids.. Wheelchair accessibility: All ground floor. Absolutely no issues for this with mobility concerns.

This restaurant is phenomenal. Service and atmosphere excellent. The food is Amazing.. I had the lamb chops out of this world. When you come, you definitely have to take the chocolate soufflé.!! Definitely will be back.

The presentation of some dishes (lobster linguine) was better than others (filet mignon) but it was still very good. Impeccable service, my only (major) bug is the website almost entirely in English.

Outstanding steakhouse in Canada. We took a business partner for a nice dinner, everything will stop notch. I would recommend ordering steaks on the rare side, as mediums came out close to well done.

My wife and I have contacted this restaurant over the passed 3 months to arrange a private event. After speaking with numerous employees and leaving messages for Nia we never got a return call. We even spoke to an individual who said they would put a date on hold for us and someone would call use back and never got a return call. Very disappointed in this venue, they lost my trust in hosting an event with them.

We are frequent customers and visited again this Saturday to celebrate my husband s birthday and everything was amazing.

I went to 40 Westt with my son. Honestly, I remember the steaks were a lot better in the past. We ordered ribeyes with mashed potatoes. We also ordered a serving of shrimp. Steak was average at best, mashed potatoes were clumpy and the shrimp were overcooked. Service was good but the food was not. I am writing this review to warn potential clients that they will likely not get their money s worth.

Very good restaurant with butcher on site where we can choose our cut of meat. Open kitchen, friendly staff, good food! A little expensive but the quality is there, I recommend.

Nice place. A bit confusing to find. My rib eye steak was seasoned with just a bit too much salt for my taste, but all in all, the meal was okay. The crab cake could have used a spicy sauce.

It was excellent!! I think this is what is missing in Quebec, some restaurants are not up to par when it is time to take out our wallets. The presentation of the service, the quality of the products served and the professionalism were all put in place during this evening . Lets not forget that parking is not a headache compared to certain places in the city center. Hats off to our server (Oct 5 around 8:30 p.m.)

Food was okay, service and ambiance with live band 100. Rack of lamb, fi let mignon, cheesecake, seafood appetizer, two bottles of wine, $430 with tip, for two people. Is it worth it? Depends what you appreciate.

Went for lunch - my table, very small for two people - squeezed in between two other tables close enough to hear everything from other tables. Table was moving (because of unequal legs) Cutting meal on a moving table is not the best. - Got our meal which looked like a Michelina frozen dish (chicken parm with noodles) - Cost around 150$ for lunch (no alcohol) - Water tasted really bad and rusty. When finished - i tell the server about the moving table - stating that he should fix it before the other customers arrive - He talked loudly and just said - Well...i didnt see it - didnt see it.... almost mad about my comment - defending his reputation before the restaurant in front of other customers squeezed on each side of us (so everyone heard of course) - How embarrassing but seeing the clientele reminded me that i didnt really give a damn about what these sharks think. If you want to go to a place where people diminish you because you didnt dress well enough for them - go here. If you want to be around insecure people all competing for their little fake image - go here. its the best place in town to play it fake while being indebted to your financial institution. i would give 5 stars for the ambiance but the judgment coming from servers and clients - I could see i was not at the right place to be welcomed in a real rich authentic Italian ambiance. Getting there is a great challenge as well - longing the 40 west - having to cut through a highway entry while other cars want to cross - just a dangerous and unhospitable location for this type of restaurant. Parking is a go-cart track - lots of Audi / Bmw - vroum vroums - Look at me in my car (Im special) - Whilst all having the same car Audi rs5 kinda thing. - yeah - super original. -West island at its best. Well - i said it - never ever again - even if i had a free meal each day for the year mostly because of the prick attitude from everyone attending and working at this location.

Heard of this place wanted to try it beautiful restaurant service is OK but the food oh my God ordered oysters smallest oysters on the planet ordered a steak at $72. I ve had much better steaks in different restaurants. The price for the whole meal was crazy. I ordered a steak, medium rare. I got it medium, didn t have time to send it back .burnt on the outside . Only good thing were the fries at $8.. never going back!!

THE WORST MANAGEMENT EVER! We made dinner reservations for a special event and the restaurant gave us a reservation confirmation 3 weeks in advance, three days prior to our dinner reservation date, the restaurant called me to cancel our dinner reservations because they had fully booked another event for the entire restaurant.

Went for lunch in the summer for a meeting and had to bring my baby with me. I told the waiter i m so sorry if she cries, hope she doesn t bother anyone around us and he answered you don t have to be sorry, she s a baby and it s normal. if anyone says anything, i will take care of it . He instantly put me at ease and i thanked him. Some restaurants aren t really nice to mothers with babies. The waiter even had a 40 West tattoo on his neck!! talk about loyalty. Based on that experience, 40 West will be my WI lunch spot!

Even at 1/3 the price it wouldn t get three stars. For what we paid and what we got, it doesn t even deserve 1 star. We ve all had better steaks at Outback Steakhouse. I needed a chain saw to cut my ribeye. The waiter recommended the seafood platter without telling us that it was $310. We could have gotten the same quality and quantity seafood tray from Costco for $40. I ll admit that I m an idiot for even walking into this place.

Typical high-end steakhouse very expensive! The place is showing its age, the food ok and the service acceptable. The wine recommendation was ok at best.

The most uninspired seafood pasta and beef tartar in the most pretentious decor in Montreal served by a reasonably trained waiter at a price point that is two times what it should be for the quality of cuisine. Go there to impress only by the huge bill you are prepared to pay. The Ferraris parked outside do not make up for the mediocrity from the kitchen.

Previously, 40west was one of my favorite restaurants. I even did a really good review a few years ago... However, I find that since covid, things have changed a lot... The toilets were faulty and there were two inches of water on the floor, I wet my pants .. Not to mention the cobwebs and the toilets which had clearly not been cleaned for a long time (see photos).. I am very disappointed.. The food is good but less than before The service East a little poorly organized...

I went there with my wife for our 5 year anniversary. The food was amazing, properly cooked and our waitress Ariana was great. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for surf and turf.

I recently visited 40 Westt and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The prices were quite high for the quality of food and service provided. To add to the frustration, they refused to honor a gift card gifted to my brother, which left a sour taste. I brought 25 guests to celebrate my birthday, spending a nice chunk of money and they refused to honour a 150$ gift card. Shared my disappointment with management with no avail. Very disappointed I choose to celebrate my birthday there. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant and will not return. In response to 40 WESTT response: A gift card is proof in itself that it was purchased. But since you are so adamant on receiving proof, I have emailed you a statement. As you know, according to customer protection, in 2010 the law passed removing all expiry restrictions on gift cards. If you decided to change your cards from paper to plastic for whatever reason, it should not be to the detriment of the client. As I can see from the reviews, I am not the first client you have lost due to this unacceptable situation. Take care, Tania

We reserved the place this Saturday , July 6, for 6 adults , 3 couples, however the decoration was amazing , the bathroom was clean , we ordered 2 plates of calamaris, 1 plate of octopus, a plate of tartar, as appetizers and we also asked white wine, margaritas, shots and more , however everything was fine until while I was chewing calamari, I bit on a big white ceramic piece ( that was almost 1 centimetre) I did not notice it while putting the bite on my mouth, since it was dark , dim light, I was just shocked but also happy that I did not swallow the whole ceramic piece , so I called the manager and showed him the piece that was in my plate and that ended up in between my teeth ( the piece appeared, most probably coming from a broken plate ), the manager apologized and proposed to replace the whole food with another choice of appetizer! which I find extremely unprofessional!!!! This wasn t the only negative incident that occurred that night, there was a mosquito in one of our guest s glass of white, again we called one of the waiters, who called the manager to show him the dead insect floating on the drink !!! Once again they apologized and suggested to replace the glass of whine , as someone that use to be owner of 5 RESTAURANTS myself!!! It was very very disappointing and disrespectful, clients satisfaction should be all restaurant s priority! Anyhow, we asked for tequila shots but they gave us vodka again we asked the waiter to tell him about their mistake , instead of helping us , he started to argue with us by repeating on and on that they had poured tequila shots! But then I interrupted the guy and showed him the shots and he noticed that we were right and he was wrong, they had served us vodka and not tequila shots , like we asked ! So at this point we were very disappointed and not satisfied at all ! The service was extremely low quality! For a fancy restaurant, the quality and service was cheap not worthy of the whole amount that we paid! Oh and not to forget to mention how slow, extremely slow the food service is , our food arrived at least an hour after we were served our appetizer, anyhow the people in charge of the restaurant should highly consider changing their staff and hire suitable, professional staffs, that can give a way better customer service!

I use to come here exclusively for their incredible prime-rib but unfortunately now they only do roast beef and only Saturdays. I was offered rare and served well-done... The king crab was pretty good but some legs had a distinct fishy taste like it had been sitting in a freezer for a little too long... Cappuccino was amazing. Service was very accomodating and generally amazing. I really hope to see this place return to its former glory!

This was to die for- a great way to end the trip in Montreal! Seafood was fresh! But the star was definitely the filet mignon - juicy and cooked to perfection! Ariana was also super friendly! Thanks for everything!

Was always curious about this place and finally decided to give it a try! We went on a Saturday evening in May. The venue is beautiful, the service was excellent and the food was average and overpriced in my opinion. Glad I tried it but will most likely not be going back!

We ve been to 40 westt a few times during lunch and always had great experiences. This time, we went for dinner and service was not what was expected of a restaurant of this caliber, leaving a dimmer to the evening after paying a hefty bill. Arrived before the time of our reservation for 2 and were seated right away. While the waiter was polite and cordial, and he came over to check on us, it wasn t the level of service we had come to expect from this restaurant. Food came and was served by a helper, and the waiter never bothered to come and explain the sauces and sides that came with the seafood platter. We had mentioned on arrival when asked that it was for a birthday celebration and while tables all around us were celebrating birthdays, nothing was done for our table. While nothing was expected, the fact that it was asked and overlooked was underwhelming. Foodwise, we ordered a table d hôte, which isn3 services and well priced. Also ordered a seafood platter and a soup. The food was great. The seafood although small for the price, was fresh and cooked to perfection. Overall, a nice evening with a disappointing service. We felt overlooked by the waiter in favour of other patrons.

Top-notch service, the food was perfect. The kitchen is in the middle of the place, in full view of everyone, so its very lively. Think about it carefully if you want something intimate and calm. Otherwise, if you want a dynamic place for a group dinner, the place is perfect.

A regular at this restaurant since its opening, I always celebrate my birthday there. Last week was not a good experience with a very rude server named John. Food arrived late, nonchalance, answers that made no sense. A large piece of food in the teacup. Not worthy of a restaurant of this caliber. Absolutely outstanding! This place deserves a 10 star rating. I m from Toronto and was in town for Mother s Day visiting family. We had the Mother s Day prefixed lunch menu and OMG fantastic. I showed up to this restaurant alone to celebrate my birthday (yes, I love it ). My server was extraordinarily attentive. He took care of my little self, offered me a cocktail and a meal according to my tastes. First time I tasted a filet mignon on the bone. It was tasty. At the end of my meal, I asked for the dessert menu and my server replied, almost shocked at my request: It s your birthday! I have already ordered something for you. » I loved it. Three waiters then brought me a melting chocolate soufflé with ice cream while wishing me happy birthday. I loved it! And what about this dessert On the mark as they say. And, one of the owners of the restaurant came to chat with me to wish me happy birthday and to inquire about my level of satisfaction. I loved it too. In short, this restaurant is classy. I like to try all the best restaurants in town and this one managed to stand out for the unparalleled quality of its service. So much so that the price of the meal - yes, it is expensive, and we expect it - is quite secondary. The overall experience is more than worth the price. I can t wait to return to 40 Westt!

My wife and I recently dined at 40 Westt Steakhouse & Barr with our friends, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. While the appetizers showed promise, the main courses fell short of expectations. The steak, advertised as aged and tender, was disappointingly tough and difficult to chew, even after being returned to the kitchen for a replacement. Similarly, the Seafood Linguini Pasta was marred by overcooked seafood and an overpowering fishy taste. What truly compounded our disappointment was the lack of professionalism displayed by the restaurant manager Max. Rather than addressing our concerns with empathy and understanding, he chose to dismiss our complaints and even went as far as to mock my attempts to communicate quietly. Such behavior is unacceptable in any establishment, let alone one that prides itself on providing a fine dining experience. Given the subpar quality of the meal and the inadequate response from the staff, I believe it is only fair to share this feedback in the hope that improvements will be made. As someone who values fine dining and appreciates the efforts of restaurant owners and staff, I urge the management to address these issues promptly and take appropriate measures to ensure a more positive dining experience for future patrons.

Very attentive wait staff, great atmosphere, and delicious food

Absolutely stupendous!! Seafood is the freshest, Alaskan crab was delicious, PEI oysters - yum! Steak - the best one I have ever had. It was Cowboy. Perfect medium rare, perfect char. Hands down it was such a treat!

Frankly, I was really expecting better, a 4-slice beef carpacio sticking to the bottom of the plate, barely any parmesan and balsamic, the house sausages compacted like black pudding, the seafood pasta which had no taste and the tuna was very fresh but too much Asian sauce no possibility of having a mocktail except a pina colada arkk with steaks and seafood

Exceptional, as soon as you enter the team of hosts welcomes you warmly and thereafter you are in the wise hands of the waiters and the kitchen team. They will take care of you throughout your meal. Excellent service and quality of meal with a unique selection at the top steakhouse.

I ll happily state that the staff we were assigned were great. Knowledgeable about food and liquor and made the experience fantastic in that regard. What I will address though is that after much fanfare I was ultimately let down by the majority of food that my wife and I ate at the 6 party table. Oysters Tofu Fillet Mignon with Bone Half a dozen whiskeys Shared was:, bottles of mineral, coffees, cakes and the other 4 people s mains etc etc I ll state that my steak required a certificate in carpentry to cut. I d estimate 10-15 full back and forth motions. This was the fillet mignon. Fat was not rendered, meat did not cut, meat was chewy and tendony and honestly had no flavour profile other than being charred and salty. As an Aussie, not the preferable kind either. I ll leave that at that. Nothing else needed saying if you cook your own steaks carefully and have worked with finer cuts of meat. You will not find that convenience if going out to get it here. A disappointment for a birthday outing. Tofu. Dry, hard, somehow over seasoned in the surface yet fibrous and bland throughout. Sides were fine for portion but carried the dish far more than its namesake. And I dare say that may have been an elevated rating given by the comparison of the tofu. Also whoever pulled our unspeakable espresso shots. Spem populo dare. Da illis semel As it is. Fine decor, exceptional wait staff, middling food. Reminds me a little of my military officer dinners.

Very good service but at this point these prices are getting out of hand! We get it! Theres inflation but dont exaggerate. Montreal has become a cesspool of overpriced restaurants.

Very nice place and I really appreciated the quality of the ingredients and the tasty dishes!

The food was great, but not sure if it felt somewhat overpriced. The service was spectacular, every issue was swiftly dealt with. The one thing that was not amazing was the table, it was not properly set and ended up being slightly slanted, which was inconvenient. I would recommend going, as the food was super, but just slightly overpriced. The only other thing that was odd, is that the place is hard to find because their sign is really small and not easy to see.

Went to this restaurant with a big group(15) for a birthday. We were served by Rachid. The service was impeccable, food delicious and the wine recommended matched perfectly our plates. Definitely recommend this place! Although it is definitely on the pricier side, the quality delivers and the experience unmatched.

Service was great, mac n cheese truffle entree was unbelievably good. Everything else was mediocre to not good. Steaks are cooked perfectly inside but charred on the outside, like burnt, if you tap your fork on steak its like tapping a table, they say its because its dry aged but other steakhouses ive visited with dry age steaks dont have this problem, if you like your steak this way its 5 stars. I also agree with what most people say, hugely overpriced for what you get.

Great ambiance, quality steaks and excellent service aimed to keep the customer curious, entertained and in the process making the time memorable. Kudos to Rashid and team for a wonderful evening yesterday serving our group of about 12 people. Now to the main course - the food... If you visit this restaurant, do order the seafood tower - youre welcome! Lobster, jumbo shrimp, crab, oysters - in an impeccable presentation. Appetizers - we ordered at the recommendation of Rashid a few - calamari, scallops, an engineered feat of a small pita with cheese and caviar put together at the table, and Japanese Wagyu samplers- the entire team thoroughly enjoyed the starters. At some point someone asked if we even needed any steaks! Now to the steaks. Rashid brought out a bunch of cuts to explain the different nuances - it was obvious that hes done it a few times, as he went through it seamlessly! Most of the team were intrigued by the bone-in fillet mignon, an 18 oz, roughly 2 thick steak with enough marbling to render a juicy steak after it hits the 1500 degree Celsius coal fired grill. The second crowd favorite was the Cowboy steak. Verdict - from an ambiance and service standpoint, I rate the restaurant and its crew as 5 stars. On the seafood - 5 stars again, a rarity from my side to rate seafood at a Steakhouse for 5 stars. And the ratings for the steaks - 4 stars. And my reasons for not rating them at 5 stars. Start with the Japanese Wagyu samplers - I didnt find the Wagyu samplers to be in the top category comparing similar samplers Ive had in the recent past, most notably Blueblood Steakhouse at Toronto Casa Loma. The bone-in fillet mignon was unique and Ive never seen this on a menu till now. It was cooked perfectly well and as you go closer to the bone, the flavors increase as well. I definitely enjoyed the steak. Overall, a quality Steakhouse with an excellent seafood offerings in the Montreal area, which Ill highly recommend for any connoisseurs of a good steak!

First time trying the place. Amazing Staff were amazing humans. Food delicious. Tried the sea food tower. And a steak. Boy o boy. Very good.

Very expensive for what it is

Had a bad experience, the service was extremely slow , we had to ask twice for our wine which they brought it at the end of our entree. Then we had to wait a good 40 min for the main dishes . We spoke to the manager Max who was good listener and tried to compensate us. We refused because the point is to express about our experience and not try to take advantage of it. Botton line never will go back .

Ive been coming to 40 Westt since it opened in 2002. The food is always excellent and the atmosphere is unique. This restaurant is a reference in Montreal. Dont forget to order the chocolate soufflé!

The waiter ghosted me after promising to reimburse costs for dry-cleaning, after drenching it with beer. I emailed 40Westt and no response.

As usual food and service was amazing. Rashid, our waiter was kind and cheerful and made us feel so comfortable. This place never disappoints. Thanks again for the great afternoon

I want to take some time and say thank you to Nia, Theodore, Joey and all the staff at 40 Westt. This year was my first year hosting a staff Christmas party for 18 people and Nia was absolutely amazing to work with. Shes an amazing event coordinator at this establishment and really helped me pick the right menu for my party. Theodore, our head waiter for the night was absolutely amazing along with all the other waiting staff and management whom I had the pleasure to interact with during the evening. CUSTOMER SERVICE DESERVES NOT 5 STARS BUT 10! Food and drinks were served in a timely matter and the food from the Canapés all the way to the dessert was absolutely Delicious! I would highly recommend this place to anyone and I cant wait to come back for a simple dinner date with my husband and to host more parties here in the future! Excellent food choices and quality, topped with an amazing service, although on the expensive side.

Waste of money

40Wesst.... a staple to many in the west island for delicious steak. My TLDR; unless you have money to spend, you can find similar or better steak for a better price. Atmosphere is very rustic but upscale. Was very nice. Very open concept though - kitchen it right there, servers area with drinks and cashes was right in the middle aisle next to where you eat. So they are always there hovering. Felt intrusive. But the servers were nice. Good wine selection, very pricey by the glass for the most part. Large menu with many options. We got: French onion soup (good) and octopus salad (pretty good but some pieces too over cooked). Filet mignon brulee with goat cheese and garlic mash - was very good. Ahi tuna - good. Mini lava cake dessert - delicious. Overall it is very good. But our bill was very high and I dont think worth the price. Nice for a special occasion. Parking: There is valet parking but... you have to be pretty lazy to choose that option. Kid-friendliness: There were kids there. But I dont think Id spend that much on my kids meal....

Time after time their meals are consistently fantastic, the service is incredibly hard to beat and a really nice ambience! Little hard to hear each other with the acoustics though!

I had the rack of lamb and it comes with the garlic mashed potatoes & asparagus which were really good 10/10 for the dish itself. The apple crumbs pie? Wow it ll have your toes curled up. 100/10 Cons : My friends had the surf and turf & the salmon which I don t really recommend. There was a lot of fruit flies imo .. we constantly had to wave our hands so that they won t touch our food Kid-friendliness: Had pasta for the kids

Unique experience in this establishment renowned for its meats. They lived up to what was said about them, and the service was extraordinary. However, the side dishes could benefit from the attention given to meats, as their cooking and presentation left something to be desired during our visit.

Went for dinner a few weeks ago with my friends and got out of there dissapointed One of my friends steak was completely raw. We got attitude from the manager twice during the process. The steak came back 20 minutes later, by then everyone was done their food Service was great but the food for what you pay for was mediocre. Won t be back.

Delicious food and great service. We had Cesar salad, steak, seafood linguine and the warm apple tart with ice cream. My only issue was they tried to seat us at the farthest table in the back corner even though we had a reservation snd there was plenty of empty tables. When we said we didn t want that table the hostess said she had to ask if any other table was available. The manager saw we were not happy and moved us in the middle right away. Second time this happened to us. Never saw this anywhere else I think they try to fill the less popular tables first . Parking: They keep many spots in front for the valet, so if you want to self park you may have to park further away around the complex

I m very dissatisfied with the customer service from 40Westt. Had gift cards given to me over the holidays and they did not honor them because they were too old understand that they may have changed their method of selling gift cards , they should still stand behind the ones they have sold to customers regardless of the date issued . Bush league service for a top shelf establishment. Been here for many business & personal events. Lost a long time client for sure.
