A lovely clean well stocked bakery! With many delicious pastries and treats! Friendly staff!

This place shouldnt be called a delicatessen or sell sandwiches and just stick to being a bakery. Very limited sandwich options, no soup was available, and what I did order was not good at all. If you want to separate yourself from a gas station have some different options on a menu so people know what they are ordering, and make it to order instead of getting soggy and cold in a cooler. If you are sold out of a particular sandwich, or someone in front of you orders the last one. When I ask for the same thing offer to make it instead of saying we are out. The staff wasnt rude but quiet and unhelpful with your confusing menu and no sandwich types. I cant speak to how this place is as a bakery but as a place to stop and get soup and a sandwich, Ill take my business somewhere else.

Best Bakery on the mid Island.

Great pastries. The food has always been really good. Service has always been really bad. Every time I come up island from Victoria and stop in, I feel very unwelcome...

Best bakery in town. Cinnamon rolls and Eccles cakes excellent, breakfast sandwiches magnificent. Seating is tight, not very comfortable, nothing outside, a bit hot at breakfast if sunny. Coffee very good for caffeine fans!

What a beautiful bakery!! Everything in here is picture perfect & delicious looking. They have a huge selection of baked goods, all exceptionally gorgeous! The gal at the counter could have been friendlier but shes probably been working half the night so I understand.

The way they reply to these reviews shows how little they care for real customer satisfaction/experience

Incredibly satisfied with everything! They re-created a wedding cake for me from I photo I sent them. They recreated it perfectly! It also tasted AMAZING and I wish I lived closer to them. Thank you so much for the amazing service!

Nice cafe with good food - big selection of baked goods.

The baked goods are, well, good but Im so tired of tipping and not receiving and recognition, like a thank you, or even a thanks. Im not tipping $3 or 20% on 2min of work so sorry if you didnt like my loonie gratuity but tipping is optional. Just like shopping elsewhere, where some vendors still appreciate any extra someone can give.

Ordered cupcakes very expensive and I could have made better at home myself. They were dry and bland I was told there was supposed to be filling and sprinkles and got none of that.

Go to spot in town for donuts and other pastries. There is no where else in town that compares or can even hold a candle. Their cakes are ok too much icing not enough cake for me but they taste good. Their pies are amazing, their cheese cakes are epic, their bread is good. Its hard to find a miss. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

The cheese scones made my pregnant self cry happy tears today. Also, phenomenal sandwiches, and surprisingly wonderful iced latte. My husband says this place has the best sausage rolls on the island.

If you are in Port Alberni, you should try this bakery especially donuts. I know there is a donut store in Harbour Quey that claims to be the best donuts, but I personally think this bakery makes better donuts if you prefer yest simple donuts!

Best bakery in Port Alberni. Love pretty much everything from here. Cream filled long johns are the best. Great baguettes. Also enjoy the sammies and coffee. Everything is so darn tasty!

Recommend the daily lunch specials if you are looking for something healthy and delicious! Have had it multiple times. Comes with a homemade sandwich and soup. Sandwiches are always loaded with meat veggies and cheeses. But there mushroom soup is the best I have ever had.

Amazing food. Best bakery I have ever been to. I tried the Nanaimo Bars and other sweets which were so delicious. Highly recommend for tourists, I am definitely coming back here when I am on Vancouver Island.

Well I cant say Ive ever been charged $5.50 for a double americano (most porta filters come double as a standard), but I will say it was well made. Probably wont be a regular place based on the price point but the place has nice atmosphere, and a bakery with a nice selection.

Worst Experience ever. The lady gave an attitude while check out. Was there to get a birthday cake. Lady was not interested in listening or helping me. Would never go back. Didn t even put message on the cake after multiple request. Bakery is good but staff i don t think so.

Good bakery really busy. I would not say that there regular (got dog buns) are better than a grocery store. I would also say they try with the donuts one was really good (apple one) and well done and the other was sub par and tasted nothing like what was described. It was just a glazed donut ( putting on a few specs of lavender flavouring does not make it a lavender chamomile donut). I would give it three stars if it wasnt such a struggle to have your advertised deal 2 for 1 was honoured.

Beautiful food and lots of selection. I actually got tears in my eyes looking at all of the amazing choices. We enjoyed our apple fritter and Greek yogurt berry parfait. My husband said the sausage roll was the best hed ever eaten. And their selection of sourdough breads reminds me of Paris.

Consistently delicious. From the coffee and tea to the donuts, cakes, and sausages rolls, Ive enjoyed every single thing Ive eaten from this bakery. A few years ago they made my kid a decadent chocolate cake with coffee buttercream. Their macarons are to die for. Their bread is so fresh and delicious. No matter what you are looking for, you cant go wrong here.

A bumpin bakery with an amazing selection. Our first time here today (silly us). We had the veggie pizza, sausage roll, apple turn over and a lemon pound cake slice. All were delicious. Washed it all down with a couple macchiatos. Keep up the good work pals!

Bakery is quality in-house made sweets and bread. The deli side is a whole lot of prefab stuff you can find anywhere.

Have always meant to stop here and get a soup and sandwich, so stopping recently turned out to be a great idea. Thick sandwiches with hearty soup makes a great meal, and it is a very popular place.

Stopped on the way to Tofino for a quick snack and was not disappointed! We had a donut and a pepperoni stick and they were both delicious. The sausage tasted so good and smoky, and the donut is one of the best Ive ever had. Not dry at all and sweet but not overly sweet. We loved what we had so much we went back a couple days later and grabbed an apple pie. Again one of the best pies Ive ever had. The apples were so good, still a little crunchy and a lot of flavor. The crust was maybe the best part. With a little vanilla ice cream it was a perfect dessert. My boyfriend and I will be stopping any time we are in the area now!

The baked goods and food are always good and although the renovation looks great, some poor thought went into accessibility. People with mobility problems have a hard time with the step, especially those with walkers and its even harder trying to get down from the step when customers are blocking the entrance waiting for you and your walker to step down! The food is a 5 but now a 2 or 3 since the ramp is gone!

The new decor is bright and cheerful. Any employee who is unsure as to the ingredients is willing to ask. The smaller sourdough was delicious AND delightfully sliced. I bought an apple fritter to make up for it.

I brought some out of town guests here and they loved the bakery treats. One of us got a slice of lemon cake to eat there and we bought two slices of chocolate cake to go. When we got home, we discovered that they had gone to a lot of trouble to slice the chocolate cake super thin.. each slice was less than half what we were served when eating in. I guess they figured we wouldnt notice till we got home.. this sleazy maneuver left a bad impression. It was sliced so thin that it would have taken extra effort to get it that thin. Disappointing.. I will still go back but will be checking my order before leaving :(

Decided to drop in after a family member recommended it to us. This place is busy for sure and let several people cut ahead of us while we decided. Ended up getting doughnuts, coffee, sandwiches and a few baked goods. Everything was tasty especially the doughnuts. I would say to get there easily if there is something special you have your heart set on. Would return.

Place is beautiful and the food looked amazing but there was literally not a single thing in the restaurant that was dairy free. Found that quite frustrating as it s a very common allergy.

Both sides of this place (deli and bakery) were hopping on a Fri afternoon, which is always a good sign. We bought classic hamburger buns, a sourdough, donuts and cinnamon buns. I d go back for both buns. The sourdough was okay but on the small side.

Black Forest Cake was the best ever and the staff was exceptional.

Tourists staying a couple days in town and we went back a second time because the baked goods were so fresh. The cinnamon buns were PERFECT, and the sugar cookie was tender. Our favourite bakery on this road trip. Also very cute treats for dogs.

Maybe when a customer says not sure what she wants cant decide between 2 items it would be nice to get some feed back from staff. Like maybe what are you looking at and maybe say my favourite is.... Not have the worker turn her back to the customer and continue doing what ever she was doing on the back counter

When I bought the bread, I asked if it was made today, but when I heard the employee proudly said that it was made today, the bread I bought was hard as if it had been made for a few days.

Definitely worth a visit, great food and service!

I cant stop going to this bakery. It has everything you want from real sourdough made with levain to freshly made loaded sammiches to donuts to cheesecake to European pastries to pizza pretzels.. Everything made in house. Its what you want.

A friend living down the hall from us brought over donuts today. She ordered them over the phone to be delivered stating that she wanted an assortment BUT NO CHOCOLATE...The entire dozen were chocolate. Thats why she brought them down. When she phoned back she was told that there was someone new answering the phone and my friend would NOT be compensated in any way. No money back and no other donuts would be sent. The donuts were dry and their customer service stinks. I wouldnt recommend them.

Got lots of good baked sweets here. My favorite is the cheese stick pepperoni, and it is affordable. But it is closed on Sunday and Monday.

This bakery is the best bakery Ive ever been to. The baked goods are absolutely wonderful and their prices are very reasonable and much lower than most other bakerys Ive been to recently. They have a very good selection of different foods and sweets.

Very good bakery. I was visiting family in the area and I m from east coast Canada and was very impressed with this bakery! I tried a little of everything from breads to cookies to cake to donuts and everything was absolutely delicious

I love their menu: Desserts: wide variety of parties, my favorite is the long john with whipped cream/eclair, donuts , tarts, cupcakes are a few on top of my list Breads: cheese sticks, sourdough Muffins: bran muffins are super yummy my fav Eat in/takeout: their sandwiches are delish on their breads and made to order, soups are yummy too Staff: I always have wonderful service my only complaint is that they arent open long enough and they are busy

I love MVB, I moved recently to Port and we were in love with their croissants when we came to visit before moving. I come to buy bread once a week and their breakfast sandwich is the best. The only downside is that the staff isn t very friendly or welcoming, it feels like they are bothered by having to take your order, out of more than 20 times I have been there I was treated well maybe twice.

Love this place!! I came out to visit my brother who just moved to Port and he suggested this for coffee and breakfast. We got a round of breakfast sandwiches and they were delicious! Egg, ham and cheese on a cheese scone. The egg was peppered(yum). The coffee was fresh and made right. The younger guy who served us was super friendly! Overall, I loved the whole small town vibe of the place. I highly recommend!

I found the staff members to be aloof and disinterested in me as a customer, simply because I asked if any of the items on their extensive menu were vegan, to which they starkly responded no . When I asked about specific items, it was in fact confirmed that there were indeed vegan options. I suppose the take from is don t go here if you have dietary restrictions because they don t want to help, but ideally the cafe will change their approach, be aware of allergens in their products and welcome the creativity of baking some alternative options. A good business plan to thrive in the modern world. *edit: I appreciate your response and I will come back in future to see if there are any kind of take out baked goods without dairy/egg.

Good homestyle bakery.

The most amazing donuts I ve ever had. I was passing through on my way to Ucluelet, and I found this place while walking around looking for a coffee shop. It s not on the main drag so can be easy to miss. Good cappuccino too! Whenever I m in Port Alberni, I ll return.

SO many delicious goodies! I am planning exercises so that I can eat more. :) Also they have an impressive selection of gluten-free options.
