This is your typical small town pub fare. The food was good. The menu had limitations, adult bevvies had limitations, but the service was great!

Hole in the wall pub style restaurant, epic sized portions and really good! Highly recommend the big crunch chicken burger (spicy) or any of the big plates. Great value for money. Kids are welcomed here too, they have high chairs and a good kids menu.

Nice sports/hunting theme bar, really fits the Port Alberni vibe. Food portion sizes are huge, a bit too big in my opinion, as I hate to waste food, and leftover fries are never good. I had the crispy chicken burger with a poutine. Chicken was twice the size of the bun and they use actual cheese curds for poutine. Food was tasty and service was great. Will be back but will split a meal with my partner as 2 people can leave full from 1 meal split.

Bucksnort is the kind of place you go to when you want to escape the city and enjoy some hearty comfort food in a rustic setting. Its an old country bar with wooden tables, cowboy hats, and a jukebox playing classic rock. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. You wont leave hungry, thats for sure. We ordered the pulled pork poutine and the big breakfast, two of their signature dishes. The poutine was loaded with tender pork, cheese curds, and gravy, all on top of crispy fries. The big potato skins breakfast. Everything was well-cooked and seasoned, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. It was all very good, but not great. Bucksnort is not a place for culinary adventures or refined palates. Its a place for simple pleasures and satisfying cravings. Its a place where you can relax, have a drink or seven and chat with the friendly locals or your other girlfriend. Its a place where you can feel at home, even if youre just passing through. Vegetarian options: No definitely not. Parking: Lots and lots of parking

Warning: if you have any food allergies DO NOT EAT HERE. I told the server I am allergic to onions, then asked if a burger would be safe to eat I was told, I dont know - you could take your chances I then asked if she could ask the kitchen. She wasnt happy about it if the eye-rolling was any indication, but she went. The response from the kitchen was I cant guarantee it, I dont have time. He was working alone apparently. So we left - Im not going to take my chances with my health. Otherwise it seemed to be a pretty standard bar restaurant, and the people around me seemed fairly happy. So if you dont have allergies, and dont mind rude servers, Id say give it a shot.

BUCKSNORTS. What a joke. My married couple best friends wanted to go here for their valentines date. I made the reservation and wanted to pay for their night. Was told etransfer was not possible without the manager and needed a credit card. Numbers were given. Hours later when they are ready to leave, right when the surprise is to hit, BANG, We cant process a credit card without the manager code When I called they blamed it on the New person who took my call initially. When I said if all you need is a code, then call her, and fix this. I was informed the code is perfect and cant ever be changed because all the employees might just steal everything if they had said code over the phone. BUCKSNORTS = TRASH Not willing at all to help out or work with people in any capacity. Minimum effort required to work there.

Met friends for a quick drink after their supper and was impressed by the decor, country style atmosphere, and service. I did not eat that night, but have eaten their INsanely huge, delicious grilled cheese and fries OMG!

We had 6 adults and 7 kids and were stuck in town because of the crossing and stopped in for food. The server was super rude when we asked for a table for 13 and seemed impressed that we tried to impose on her for a meal. Took our money elsewhere

Food was very good . But it was very busy and short staffed.

Amazing food. The clubhouse was hands down the best I have ever had. The beef dip was great and the cream of vegetable and chicken soup was absolutely amazing!

Walked in to this place on a whim with my wife. Instantly greeted by friendly staff. The ambience is so cool! The music was at a perfect volume. The food was great, the drinks were cold. Everything was clean. But the icing on the cake was the amazing fast and fun service from server Randy. She made our day. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.

Im not sure why I always forget about this place when considering dinner. I ordered take out, the burger was tremendous, ready really fast, friendly staff in the restaurant and the fries were more than I could ever eat! Will definitely be returning for both dine in and take out.

My favorite retro pub on Vancouver island. Menu is a blast from the past. Service is always great, never had a single complaint about the place.

If you love the feeling of an old wester pub this place is for you. They display many taxidermied animals from caught by local hunters.

Its still pretty decent. I love their poutines; however, they dont have my salad wrap thing I used to get.

Good fries

It was my first visit there and it stood true to all the good things I heard of the place. I had the steak and was great with all the fixings. The server was polite and knowledgeable. Ample parking and the visit was outstanding!

Well first off, they played a lot of country. But thats just personal. The food was really good and the servings were really darn big.

I would give it 10 stars if I could. We were in Port Alberni for celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to dine in Bucksnort s considering it is one of those very few outlets that were opem until 9 pm. We went in with low expectations, but the variety of food, taste, quality and portion size blew our minds. One of the largest volume of margaritas and pinacolads I ve ever had. Our server Hailey went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience for us, and treated us with a little makeshift dessert also (since it was a special occassion for us) although there were no desserts on the menu officially. We would definitely return to Bucksnort s whenever we visit Port Alberni again.

Really terrible service from the server. She was so incredibly rude when people at our table had questions and she talked to the table like we were stupid. Other tables that had white customers who came in after us were served their food before we were even able to place our drink orders with the server. Once we got the food, it was cooked in really old oil and everything was burnt and tasted off because of it. One person at our table ordered a steak medium rare and even that came out way past well done and was a super low quality of meat for the price as almost half of it was gristle. I ordered chicken strips and they came out burnt and so bland that they were inedible. We paid $200 for lunch and it was such a waste of money.

We are out of our home while waiting for insurance repairs and decided to try Bucksnorts on 2 occasions last week. We enjoyed the burger and tacos on the first visit and had very good steak dinners on the 2nd. The atmosphere, the service and the food portions are great . This is not a high end dining restaurant but a very good local eatery. We will be back!

Was hoping to try it today and have a great time ... we waited to even just be acknowledged for over 5 minutes! Nobody there even made eye contact as we waited by the door. Finally, they came and seated the people in front of us, went to grab menus and take their order ... still ignoring us. So, we left. Very disappointed!!!

One of my customers told me about this place, and I had to ask him to repeat himself three times before I finally understood the name of this pub. So I went. :) Pleasantly surprised, and I am going back to try what else they have. Portions are generous! Flavour is great. I cant wait for covid to be over because the inside of this pub is awesome! I loved it and it would be so fun full of people all having a good time. I wish my photos were better. Ill get more when I go back. Port Alberni has pleasantly surprised me with their great restaurants!

Must-try burgers made from local beef

This was a really sad 2 star decision, I came down here for my 24th birthday. When I arrived the first server to greet me seemed kind of unfriendly or possibly really tired regardless the second server to talk to me was super friendly and welcoming. I didnt get IDd so I pulled out my ID(because it was my birthday and I wasnt that old I.e. look over 30) although the server still didnt realize it was my birthday I wasnt really expecting it so I kept the conversation light and positive. The food was good, simple but done well and exactly what I was looking for for lunch. I still had my drink on the table about 3/4 full beer and a water and had paid, I asked my server If it was OK if I just finished up with my drinks as she took away my plates, she assured me I could take my time as she directed me to the washroom I came out and my drinks were gone, I guess there was more of a rush then mentioned or the first server just wanted to get rid of me either way it was very disappointing especially on my birthday, I wont be going back or recommending this place to my family or friends unfortunately.

No drink menu, drink was horrible, service was quite slow, an order came out wrong, menu was not accurate to what was received, my burger patty was dry and drowned in sauce with a bun way too big for the patty.

Dont let the outside turn you away. Great pub with some old decor and friendly staff. Sat at the bar because the place was packed. big portions, and good drinks. Will be back again next time passing through or staying at a campsite near by.

Had a great late lunch here! I love this bar its so rustic and country, being from out of town it was super cool and the food was very good.

Fantastic pub food! It loses one star for the beer: I dont believe they are maintaining their tap lines cleanliness as I had an IPA there, that I know what it tastes like, and it was a bit off. Other than that I enjoyed it and will return.
