Dog Mountain Brewing in Port Alberni

Such an amazing place. The servers are great, food and beer is delicious. View from the deck is 2nd to none.

I personally feel this spot is overhyped. I went last week with a friend during Salmon Fest weekend and after sitting for over 5 minutes we had to go and grab our own menus from the waitress after she walked past our table twice (while looking at us). Then after deciding what we wanted and another nearly 10 minutes of waiting for our waitress, we once again had to go get her to place our order.. Meanwhile the guests around us were getting menus and service immediately after they sat down ? I also cannot wrap my head around the fact there arent any electrical fans during the Summer heat? It was SO hot outside we had to cut the dinner short as we were just sitting in our sweat. They had water misters at a few tables but Im not trying to get my nachos wet? However, they probably couldve used some moisture cause those chips were dry as Hell LOL. It was basically a stack of tortilla chips. Overhyped. Overpriced. Underwhelming.

I dont know what to tell you, last words from our server when we wanted to find a seat.. we are in the brew industry and on a brewery tour... how about asking us to have a beer while we waited to sit down?... well its a good thing, found 2 other breweries in town that were more then happy to have our business and the deck wasnt baking under clear plastic roofing.

Best avocado toast I ve ever had. Brunch was spectacular, Canticle was amazing and super sweet. Would 1000% recommend anyone come in to try the brunch / coffee.

Not good. Beer was ok but our server had no knowledge about their product. Natcho chips had very little toppings, next to no Cheese, and the donair had a strange sweet mayo on it. Pulled pork needed way more filling. We were very disappointed

Cant go wrong with stopping in here for a tasty beverage! The rooftop patio is the perfect spot to enjoy one of their rotating craft beers.

I love this place. I come here once a month for the comedy show. Ive been cooking since the beginning of 2023. Ive never had a bad time. The food is delicious. Robin, I think shes the owner, is such a hard worker and amazing person. Ellie is a joyous server that brightens or evenings. I dont know all of their names, but so many of the workers are dedicated to ensuring everyone has a great time. Tonight I had the pulled pork with slaw. The wrap was so soft. The BBQ sauce was scrumptious. The kettle chips were so crunchy. Delicious. Just fantastic. I cant wait until next month.

We were having a pretty rough day, we were hangry and thirsty and exhausted- and had our doggo with us. They opened the patio two hours early just to make our day better. The food was amazing, the beer was excellent, the cider and non alcoholic options - wonderful. With water and treats for the doggo, and super friendly service (yay, Ellie) it made a challenging day beautiful for a while! Oh, and the views from that patio! Definitely returning next time were in Port Alberni (in the meantime brought some cans home:)

The sweet donair is to die for. No insane pricing just top shelf simple food, beer and top shelf service. Way to go guys keep up the good work. Ill be doing quality control every now and then

I was not much of a beer drinker, but my friends were. GO TO DOG MOUNTAIN BREWING!!! I just had a beer they made called Uptown Funk, fruited sour. It was the best! I really like it! They ve got all kinds of beers that actually have flavours. They ve won national awards! They make the big breweries look like beginners. Goodbye Coors. Goodbye Labatts. HELLO DOG MOUNTAIN!! I m a beer drinker now!

The beer is great and the service is cool. When you walk through the brewery you come to the roof terrace. Crazy location that you have to see.

Its amazing that this small town has a world-class brewer in it. How lucky Port Alberni is to have this available. I have been to many craft brewers, and very few have refined the art as well as Dog Mountain has. The food I ordered was superb. The staff is extremely friendly. It is definitely on my list of places to return. Cheers.

Tried to drink and dine here this evening, stood at the front for what felt like forever - no one greeted us so we went around back up to the patio where a woman told us someone would be right with us as she went down the stairs. We waited up there for again what felt like forever - no one greeted us or sat us. I made sure I was standing in a place where the servers could see that I was waiting. There were a lot of open tables as well and still no service. This was our first time coming here and unfortunately it was a negative experience we ended up just leaving to go somewhere else as we were tired of waiting around. Two stars only for the atmosphere - the string lights were pretty.

I never caught our server s name - but holy moly. She was awesome. She was so kind to our little fam and went above and beyond to make sure the menu worked for our kids, brought out colouring supplies and invited the kids to draw a panorama of the mountains. Food was delicious. View spectacular. All round amazing experience after so long avoiding restaurants.

Beer was as good as ever, food was fresh and portions were large. Rooftop patio is a showstopper, I could spend hours there taking in the view. If you are in port alberni this is a must visit.

Best place in Alberni Valley (maybe even best of mid-island) to relax over a drink and tasty snack. If you like craft beers with a lot of flavour and variety, you will not be disappointed. Best patio in town, with a fantastic view on clear days, and service is always cheerful and efficient.

After tasting their Tsunami IPA at a beer festival this was an essential visit when headed back from Tofino. Lunch on the patio with the puppers! Finally, a beer place that s figured out how to allow dogs on the patio. The food was great too, service great. I also got a growler fill to go along with a selection of tall boys as you could mix and match.

First time, it was great. Very friendly, good atmosphere, good beer.

Favourite brewery in Port Alberni. Large selection of beers, food is superb and the staff is friendly. The donair is one of the best meals you can get in Port Alberni.

Food took well over an hour and a half, dont go here super hungry for your reservation also was extremely pushy to my friend who did not want a drink, only food. Tables that came after us got their food and drinks way before us too, food was tasty but everyone had cold food

If you re driving from Victoria to Tofino and looking for a great place to stop for lunch this is the place. There maybe isn t much going on around Port Alberni but this restaurant has a lovely and large rooftop deck with views, good service, and pretty good food to get you on your way. They also have a lot of beer offerings and a few non-beer beverages as well. Parking was easy on the street.

All the staff here are wonderful human beings as are the owners who take a lot of interest in their customers and brew the best beer in town.

Went there for lunch today. Great food, great view, great beer and our server (whose name we didn t catch) was fantastic. Will be back routinely.

This was our first time going to DMB, great atmosphere, food was good, n the choices of veers were awesome. We will most definitely go back.

A gem in Port Alberni with a great selection of craft brews, a spectacular view, and phenomenal service. To top all of that the patio is dog friendly! --missed opportunity not calling it the woof-top though.

Stopped here about a month ago, & really enjoyed our time. Located just downtown Port Alberni on the hill with lots of parking. When we first walked in we were thinking it was tiny, but they had an upstairs seating area on the deck, it was huge. Lots of space. The brewery was very clean 10/10. They had lots of beer on the menu and we tried them all, & they were all fantastic. The food menu had lots of options as well, one of my favourite breweries on the island for sure!

Outdoor seating in the back a small seating area in front. Food available, and a ton of cider flavours. Staff is friendly.

Always love heading down to my local for dinner and drinks. Fantastic staff, great beer and food.

I must say, such great atmosphere. You walk into main lobby with an inviting menu board to look at... if you go upstairs to the covered tent patio, and its the same warm inviting, I wanna hang out up here, vibes. Menu board is right there! If you dont want to read over the board and take your seat, there are qr codes to scan that brings up their menu as well. They have a weekly food special and its not worth missing. This photo is their chicken bacon ranch sandwich. Loaded with an amazing cooked bacon... so flavorful, not under/overcooked, and nicely enough not greasy either. This bun though... im telling you, it was amazing. Check them out... a favorite brewing site in beautiful port alberni.

This brewery is fantastic. Great vegetarian options on the menu and absolutely delicious beer selection. The patio is beautiful and the staff are always friendly and seem happy to be there. One of my fav places in town!

Great food and beer! Staff was friendly. Only shame is they close too early. On busy beautiful Saturday evening with full patio last call was made at 8:20pm. We would definitely come back again!

Beers where great, food was great, view up on the patio was great, server was great . One of the owners not so much. My 4 year old ran over to the chalk board to draw a happy face on it when I assume one of the owners came and rudely and awkwardly in front of the entire patio full of people asked me to control my child and they can t be running around. First of all he wasn t bothering anyone nor causing any safety issues. Safety issues like having to walk through the brewery to get to the patio, stepping through hoses on slippery wet ground kind of safety issues. Then to hear the owner complain to staff about how she hasn t eaten her lunch from 4 hours ago and to keep an eye on my children. Sorry to say, won t be back

Hat off to the owners, this place is why I love BC craft brewers. Amazing roof top seating, great food and best of all an amazing selection of tasty brews! Great energy in this space too.

What a gem! The food and beer are delicious. The view from the roof top balcony is great. But most importantly Dog Mountain is GF/DF and other allergen friendly. We were pleasantly surprised and visited twice on a recent camping trip nearby. We would definitely recommend for anyone visiting the area to stop by. We will next time were in Port Alberni.

Excellent product I wanted to taste local.

The staff were so friendly that it makes me uneasy thinking about. Like, its almost humanly impossible to be so warm and accommodating. It might be a place run by robots just to make humans feel happy. The food was very good. Excellent even. Sampled a few of the available beers. All of them were good. I cant say enough about how friendly the staff was. I think I found my new best friends. Despite the Ant Fiasco.

I was up in Banfield for some work, stopped at Dog Mountain Brewing for something to drink. I really like there Pineapple Hazy Pale Ale. Also picked up a shirt.

Dog Mountain is a fantastic place to spend some time. They consistently make interesting beers that taste great and their food is made in house and is delicious. And how do you beat that view from the patio overlooking the ocean?!

Stopped in today, 3rd time but had been about 18 months since last visit....wow! Tried 10 different beers, barely a miss pallet wise for me which is unusual. There are at least 5 solid standouts for me, sours and IPAS were aces, and the McStout. Met the owners, Robin and Andy, terrific ppl and hosts! Everything is on point that leads to a great brewery experience. Being in the industry I know a thing or two, one thing I know is Ill be back again

The best up-island brewery!

Good brewery with a few gems to be appreciated. They have a small amount of indoor seating as well as a great rooftop patio that works well until the heavy rain/wind season intrudes. Be mindful that the patio appears to only be accessible by stairs so we dont recommend for anyone with mobility issues. We tried tasters of 8 of their beers and were most surprised and impressed by Bees! and Limesickle. The food menu looked okay as well but we didnt not order any this time round, so this rating only speaks to the beer, service and atmosphere/setting. The service was okay... nothing bad but the waitress was not very enthusiastic nor could she make suggestions or provide much detail on the beers, and thats something we have come to expect from most local breweries.

Awesome food and great beer. Had the BLT - fresh crispy bread and thick home cut bacon. Paired with the Mac and Cheese add pulled pork and bacon. Couple IPA to wash it down - both solid. Highly recommend!

Who says you can t have a few beers on a wet and rainy day? No problems here with their roof-top patio that s heated and covered. Great selection of rotating beers that ll have something for everyone. Go for a tasting flight if you re having trouble deciding then get a growler fill of your favourite. Decent selection of food too if you re hungry and they have weekly specials. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great location, awesome atmosphere, good food, I dont drink alcohol but hear its good. The one star less is because they do not offer any hot drinks when they are a colder location. Tea or coffee would work super easy.

Had a lovely dinner with tasty beers and good friends. We sat upstairs it was fun to be in the snow storm but be cozy and warm. I had the Lit Wit beer and the Dark Tower lamb, delicious.

I cant wait for summer. This was worth the trip from Victoria % they have a cool baby change station in the main bathroom and are overly friendly with good food and great beers!

Love the vibe, beer, service, patio, view.. but secretly.. I like spying on the crack heads in 3118 Harbourview Apartments from the patio. They re always up to something.. whether it s building hot-rod scooters out of stollen goods, or combing the ground for small unique objects. I usually only spy for 1-3 minutes, but it makes the visit complete. Come to think of it, the entire Dog Mountain package is one of my fav experiences in Port Alberni.

Best pulled pork sandwich in Port Alberni, best Donair anywhere. They have friendly staff and great beer as well. Another thing Ive noticed is bigger portion sizes than Twin City. Love this place!

Always good to see a new brewpub. This place has potential. I m sitting here on February 29 on the rooftop deck in the sun. I will be likely a rocking place in the summer. crazy mikes IPA isn t bad And they set me up with a vegan sandwich.

Amazing patio and really unique beers

This place is a hidden gem. It s downtown so it s a bit off the route to the coast but I highly recommend the detour for lunch. Excellent sandwiches and a great roof top deck. The Lit Wit is tasty.

Are you kidding me? What an absolute gem! I had the pleasure of popping by and visiting their amazing patio for drinks and lunch. We had a flight of every beer on tap and they were all incredible! Another pint, an amazing lunch and some offsales later and we were back off to Victoria. This is a must try for anyone who loves beer!

A new micro brewery in town. Great friendly staff. Awesome views from the rooftop deck. I love the selection of beers, something for everyone. They serve food too but we did not try. Well worth checking out.

Poor service, no one greeted us at the front bar, waited rang the bell, nothing. I had to shout to get someone to direct us to the patio with the entrance in the back. Once up at the patio again no one to seat us, no service.. So we just left. I guess Ill try again another time then reconsider changing my review.

Delicious food, Id recommend budda bowl, donair, nachos, and bbq sandwiches. Lit Wit is my go to drink. Robin and Andy are lovely owners. Always remember what I drink. We always bring new guests in to have the dog mountain brewery experience!

Great beer, food, and patio. Both the beers we tried were quite tasty. Our sandwiches were tasty, and we were glad to have several veggie options for food. The outdoor rooftop patio space was amazing, and a great way to enjoy a beer during these covid times.
