Outstanding place for micro beer and great food.

Wonderful spot for a beer and some comfort food. Theyve got board games, too. Prices are reasonable and service is friendly. My burger was delicious

A great mid way stop between Tofino and Nanaimo. They were offering their creative Skeleton Crew Menu, and the Thai chicken salad and Pepperoni pizza were perfect! Also the flight of beer was tasty

Not alot of breweries offer food but this one offers REALLY GOOD food . Definitly something to check out.

I found this place on the Happy Cow App. As a vegan, it was a great spot for a quick bite to eat and appreciate there were a few vegan options and it was yummy too! I think this will be a new pit stop for us when heading back home from our Tofino trips. Thank you for the attentive service as well. Cheers!

Food was ok, not very memorable, service was adequate and atmosphere kind of sucked. Its a brew pub/sports bar/highish end eatery. Good for a try but nothing spectacular enough for a revisit unless I take up drinking beer and as a woman a decent girlie drink or two would go a long ways.

Great place, awesome food, and fantastic service

First visit. The place didnt seem busy but food coming out of the kitchen was very slow. After we ordered, it was nearly an hour before we got our food (hamburger and a Philly cheese steak). The Philly was dry and disappointing. The burger was good.

Food is consistently great. They are always changing up the menu so you always have new things to try. Price is reasonable and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

I was visiting from out of town and was recommended to come here by a good friend. It took around twenty minutes for the server to come and even take our drink order. Fifteen minutes later the server came back to let us know they were out of stock for two of the drinks we ordered. After a total of 45 minutes we received our drinks and our two pops were both flat. There was no water ever brought to the table. When our food came after an hour, the fries were cold. Our wings were missing the ranch dip we ordered, and we were mostly finished eating them by the time the server returned for us to even ask for the dip. The panini we ordered was missing the dip that it comes with as well, and when we asked the server if we could please get it her response was which dip is it supposed to be? Sorry I should know that . The server did not come back to check how the food was or if we needed anything until we were pretty much finished eating. The food was decent but overall the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant and there were several open tables beside us, I don t feel that it was too busy to provide better service.

We stopped at Alberni Brewing Company for a quick drink and some lunch while hiking in the area. The atmosphere was great. They had outdoor seating and inside was clean with a modern rustic decor. During lunch the food, drinks, and service were good. So after hiking more, we thought we d go for dinner. Dinner was a completely different experience. You can tell this place is geared towards the locals and not for tourists. When we got there, it was almost full, but there were a few tables open. We were told they could sit us but that the kitchen was backed up. We said that is fine and the hostess left us at the front to talk to the bar tender. Then , she comes back, seats the couple who came in behind us and tells us that the store is no longer taking customers! What? Then we see the couple talking with the bar tender and there were still 2 open tables in which we could have been sat. There was no reason we should have been denied service. We were dressed appropriately and were polite. It appeared that the place was mismanaged and not well staffed. I would not recommend eating dinner here. There are several other restaurants with amazing food and great service in the area.

We went there twice in one week, the food was delicious both times but the service was never great. The first time they missed a main and they apologized and bought our table a round which was kind and overall the server was very anntentive but the second time the sever was almost non existent. It took an hour to get appetizers and one and a half hours for mains. Its not a very big place but they definitely cant keep up when its full. The server brought enough water for 3 of our 7 people and we had to eventually wave down a different server just for water after thinking our own would come back. Were drinkers and we like to try a lot of different drinks but the server barely checked on us and in the time we were there we only had two drinks each and like I said were drinkers so they left us with empty cups most of the time. Our server didnt come and clear our appetizer plates so we ended up putting them on the table next to us and a different server took them away eventually. The table they put us at was too small for 7 people the second time. The server was also standing talking most of the time instead of checking on their tables. The food was delicious both times, probably the best food in Port Alberni. It was really just the slow service and lack of drinks that ruined it for me, we probably wont come back anytime soon. Good food and good service need to go hand in hand and one or the other can drag the other down and cause it to drown. I would like to think we just caught them on an off day.

Came in and sat for 15 minutes without any servers coming to help us helping people all the way around taking orders giving out beers. The whole group ignored us completely finally moved to the back where the girl is excellent and she help us fairly promptly food is fine. The service is some of the worst of ever had in my life. Very fortunate that there s not much alternative food places here in Port Alberni, but what atrocious service they cannot be proud of this we cannot continue to produce such poor servers. There s been a brand new set and it worse than ever other than a nice English girl, who actually tries the rest of them just ignore I will take my business elsewhere for future Go to twin cities brewery beer is good service excellent and food too - give this a miss

Good service and the food was delicious

Great indoor/outdoor set up. Had the beer cheese burger with house salad. The salad was a huge portion and the burger was nothing short of incredible. Contender for best beef burger patty I ve ever had. Highly recommend coming here .oh yeah the beer is great too ;)

We love it here, we were allowed to have our Jack Russell on the deck.

Stopped in for lunch with 3 friends around mid-day, after a 30-40 minute wait our food order (wraps and burgers) did not arrive nor did our waitress to refill water or check in to see if we needed anything. Even after we inquired about an ETA we didn t get any sort of answer so opted to leave. We were all very hungry and very disappointed the space is really nice, but the experience of that level of service was unacceptable.

We came in for lunch today and ordered food without drinks. We had been seated presumably some time after another table that ordered drinks while we were waiting for food. After watching the kitchen, which had three staff on, fill an appetizer and a meal ticket of four dishes in 35 minutes we quickly did the math and realized we would be waiting over an hour for the pleasure of a lupe warm pub wrap. We went to a fast food place down the road and, ironically, had better service and actually got our order. Wouldnt recommend

Went in on a Sunday, and it was under half full. When we were seated, no one was drinking so we just immediately ordered 4 mains. Just under an hour later it was pretty obvious the order was never put in. In that time the waitress didn t check in with us once.

Wonderful spot all around. We were in town for hockey, and they went above and beyond and then some for us! We were a really big group, but they had everything organized so the food came out quickly, it was delicious, and everything was right. The staff were all so friendly, and it s a definite must try when in Port Alberni!

Savanah was awesome! The Halifax donair did not disappoint either. Thank you, and we will be back!

A modern take on brew pubs with a good atmosphere and even better beer, dog friendly, sports always on tv and a wonderful set of staff.

We had a great meal and drinks. There was a bit of a delay getting our meals. We saw them sit in the window for 15 minutes before they came. 5 minutes waiting for fries and 10 minutes with fries. It was busy for a Sunday and the server was Excellent! The food still lasted good and the fries were still hot. Great beer choices!

When I ordered a sleeve of beer my friend ordered a sleeve of cider. Unfortunately it was only offered in a smaller glass and we found this odd. He felt it kind of cheapening that he couldnt have the same size of his favorite beverage. Should be sleeves all around.

They hosted our whole hockey team (40+ ppl) while we were in town for a busy December tournament. Our server was phenomenal and the food was so so delicious! Been dreaming of it since and cant wait to go back the next time were in town. Our parents were buying their merch even. So impressed!

We really like having this place in PA. We go whenever we visit. I picked up a growler and had a sirlon steak dip and onion rings. My wifes curry prawn bowl was overloaded with shredded cabbage, light on prawns and veggies were undercooked. This was a rarity hence the four stars.

Drop in every time we pass through Port Alberni and enjoy the food and atmosphere. I am told the beer selection is awesome as well. We will be back again on our next visit.

This is a good friend of mines brew pub he opened with his wife. Hes been brewing beer for over 20 years! They have an amazing selection of beer and they have a full service kitchen. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. A must place to go if you are a craft beer fan!!

Originally had a 5 star review, been there 3-4 times and every time it slowly went down in stars, but the straw that broke the camels back was the 2.5 hour wait time for food.

Attended yesterday for the first time with some friends. We thought the pub was well laid out with nice decor. I wasnt expecting much for beer as Im not a great fan of local beers. Had the XAtlantic beer which I reluctantly ordered on the advice of the waitress. Sure glad I did. This is an incredible beer! The pub food was awesome also. Had a nacho platter and calamari. These were great and not like most pub foods. The waitress was excellent also with a good sense of humour with us as we kidded her a lot. We enjoyed everything and certainly plan on returning soon. Were from Parksville but were here for a kids hockey game. Love Port Alberni!

Meh, it was alright. Its a brewery, so go for beer. They advertise vegan options but its really just chips & salsa + a black bean burger. Nothing special, and it was also pretty mid tier for only having 1 vegan meal option. Also felt strange in there for some reason, not sure why but just not welcoming.

Nothing super out of the ordinary but good selection of beer and food. Lots of other great drink choices if youre not into beer, and child-friendly; neither of which apply to us but seems like a popular spot for families. One of our servers was a little out to lunch, but we liked our blonde server who was friendly and more on the ball.

Loved everything about this place!

Visited this place twice in my stay in Port. Atmosphere was great, service was great and the selection of beer was great. Food was fantastic. Went with the weekly specials on one night and a menu item on the next. Never a disappointment. Would recommend anyone to visit this place. Definitely make reservation on wing night (wednesday).

Great food, fabulous server but the music was too loud to have a conversation without shouting, I asked for the volume to be turned down, and after that, my friend and I could chat without competing with the music. This is a great brew pub that you shouldnt pass up!

Good food, good service

Not one single smile or friendly greeting from any of the 3 waitresses who served us on the evening of Friday June 16th (around 5pm). One seated us, one took our drink order, and one took our food order. I understand having a bad/busy day as I ve worked in food service myself, but don t take it out on customers. Made us feel very uncomfortable. Disappointing service to say the least, but the burger my partner had was delicious!

The beer is amazing. Usually when you get a flight of beer you like one or two beers and we liked all of them. My husband said the Pilsner was the best he has ever tasted. His favorite was the Alberni Lager. My favorite was the Dunkel. Again, it was all very flavorful.

Cheap, delicious beer with delicious food. What else could you ask for? I would have posted a picture but I ate it too quickly!

Every year we go to Tofino as a family in the summer. Driving from Vancouver with two young kids, and a dog in a very small hot car, our traditional stop point is that gas station at the edge of Port Alberni that serves ice cream with extra large portions. If you have been there before you know the location Im referring to. Alberni Brewing Co. after one stop will now be our NEW traditional stop en route. Service, food, and beer (specifically the new england grapefruit IPA) were all absolutely amazing! And beyond that, there were shaded picnic benches and areas for dogs to enjoy with water dishes and friendly staff dropping off biscuits whenever they walked by. Cant say enough good things about this place. This has surpassed all of our expectations, and anyone travelling through would be foolish not to stop here. Also board games galore!!

Server refused to make specific cocktails because I made like 50 of those today and I dont want to... Ive never been refused a beverage anywhere before.

On our trip to Vancouver Island, I tried a few different brews from Alberni Brewing, each time refilling a small growler to enjoy my beer at the cabin. I wanted to grab a bite to eat, but the time wasnt right. We stopped in for lunch on a hot day after a hike near Sproat Lake, and we were absolutely starving. I had the Alberni Burger and Astrid had the French Onion Beef Burger. The quality and preparation of both burgers was perfect. Even the chips, which are often an afterthought, were crispy and delicious. I paired my burger with their Over the Line Hazy IPA. Make sure you stop by Alberni Brewing Company on your way through Port Alberni. You wont be sorry!

We got a flight of beer and liked them all. Food was good as well. The dyed red haired hostess was rude both times we went, but all the servers and bartender made up for it.

I enjoy stopping here for a pint and an order of fries in the hot weather and have enjoyed it until today. A friend and I stopped by today. We started a one waitress who took our order and another took over a delivered it minnus the water we ordered. Both orders of fries looked like they had been precooked and were Soggy. Usually we re are crisp and have a nice crust to them. I left part of mine and when the waitress asked how things were I complained. We were never given a discount and for that reason we won t be back. It s to bad because the usual fries were nice that s why we have return before

Excellent food and beer - LOVED the red lager!! Super cool, Ive never had a red lager before and I liked it so much in my flight that I had to order a pint as a follow up. My husband and I both had the prawn curry and it was really really good. Highly recommend!

Squished into a table with nowhere to put our purses. A party going on with way too many people for the reservation. There was no room to eat. I suggest taking out their food instead.

The beef dip seems to be made from deli meat, the bun isn t toasted and the au jus is completely flavourless. A lot of the other offerings I have had in the past, burgers, wings and appies are very good. Hopefully our server was just having an off day and is usually more attentive and friendly. The prices are very reasonable and the menu is great.

I was visiting from Calgary when we decided to come for appys and drinks. The beer selection was large and the hefe style beer I had was wonderful. The server we has had lived in Calgary for a bit and she was very nice. I just wish they had cans to buy! Kid-friendliness: I noticed there were a few families and they had board games.

Waited around 10 minutes for a table, that was empty and only needed to be cleared and wiped down. Finally seated and ordered right away cause we figured wed be waiting a while. The two tables seated after us got their drinks AND food first. I had a flight and the beers were pretty good. After waiting for about 45 minutes, they brought my boyfriends meal out about 10-15 minutes before mine and our daughters food (we all snacked on his fries to hold us over). Finally our food came and my pulled pork poutine had no pulled pork on it Gravy was really salty and the pulled pork had barely any BBQ sauce. Apparently our orders got separated? My boyfriends burger was dry and our daughters chicken strips were crispy but tasteless. Overall, a disappointment, especially since we were planning to go somewhere else then changed our minds cause we hadnt been to Alberni Brewing before. Our server told us they were overwhelmed with so many people coming in at once without reservations but, on a Saturday afternoon, shouldnt that be expected?

Great place compared to the other breweries in town; much larger space for big groups; the staff are awesome and seem to enjoy their work.

We enjoyed everything except the 90-minute wait for our food order. They have a serious problem getting food out of the kitchen. I recommend asking how long the wait is for food before ordering.

The food is amazing. Indoor outdoor, patio seating. Wheel chair friendly. Alcoholic and non Alcoholic bevrages available. Childrens menu, so this awesome place is kid friendly. Seating for everyone and their dog. If you are thinking about eating there, stop thinking and just do it.

Pretzel is as filling as it is delicious, dont expect to eat a ton after taking one of them down, sooo good though.

If you are visiting Port Alberni or passing through, this place is delicious and the beer even better! We loved it, we bought a cooler so we could take beer with us! We certainly hope to visit you again!

Great food, environment, and service.. lots to pick from on the menu for different tastes and diet preferences. Will be back for sure, we went on a paint night and it was packed.
