I rarely give 5 stars to a restaurant. But this one deserves it. I did not expect to find an Indian restaurant this good in the middle of Port Alberni. I was returning from Tofino on the way to catch my ferry from Nanaimo and found it on a Google search. First off the ambience. The decor has a rustic vibe and also has a centre stage for live music. I guess they host local performance. Secondly cleanliness. Since I was driving all day I needed a place to freshen up. I was surprised to find that their washrooms were so clean and well maintained. Even the interiors of the restaurant were very clean. Lastly the food. The food tasted amazing. I highly recommend their goat biriyani and mango lassi. We also had their goat curry and naan. The quantity was abundant and the price was very reasonable. I was so tired and happy with the food that I did not get a chance to click any photos. But it is highly recommended for someone who is passing through Port Alberni and craving Indian Food.

Recipes are excellent and food tastes great but based on my most recent visit here the portions are getting oddly stingy. Paneer butter masala with very little paneer beef keema naan seems to more resemble roti and contain a very small amount of beef. The service is excellent as always and the new location is nice. But I feel the value is getting worse based on the amount of paneer in our dish. Vegetarian options: Very good selection if ok with dairy

Best North Indian food in Canada I can say.. stoped at Spice 7 randomly while coming back from Tofino. Every one in our group liked their food specially Paneer butter masala ,dal makhani and garlic butter. Service was great and friendly staff. I have asked staff to open restaurant at Tofino and Vancouver .

We love spice 7! We eat here a couple time a week and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious, the spice level and flavour is amazing, the portions are good, the staff and service is excellent and the Saturday buffet is a good time to try new things you may not have ordered otherwise. Went there for the first time. Experience was Ok. Its not the best to recommend and not the worst to regret.

I have eaten here a few times. I tried the buffet......it was the Best buffet I have ever been to.....that includes all the types of food. The fish applies and coconut lamb was heaven. Thank you so much for finally bringing real indian food to Port.

It was my first time eating Spice7 cuisine, and I must say that it beyond my expectations. I truly loved their food.Their mixed platter and chicken biryani were both phenomenal dishes that I tasted.I plan to return asap.

EDIT: Returned for a second visit and the service was much improved. The food was delicious once again. Seems like Ill be breaking the chain of 5 star reviews. The food here was delicious! I definitely plan on coming back and Im from out-of-town. We had the goat rogan josh, lamb biryani, paneer pakora (unlike anything Ive ever had) and garlic naan. However, the service was not 5 stars. I understand that the restaurant is new and it appears to be family run. Not the best, not the worst, just ok. In their defense, the servers seemed young and inexperienced so Im certain the service will improve with time.

5 of us just finished dinner at Spice 7, everything was excellent. Chicken Pakoras were fantastic, and my dinner was done perfectly, large portions and the temp was exactly what I was hoping for. The service was also very good, and the food arrived quickly.

Love this place, one of my favorite places in Port. Goat Korma and beef samosas alone are worth it. But everything else on the menu is great too and served with freshly cooked Naan bread.

I marked the decor/atmosphere as a 4 because I think it could use a bit of a boost, but the food and service are great. P.S. They use DoorDash. So if you have a craving for Indian and dont want to venture into public... you can get it Dashed to you. Parking: Parking easily fits about 15 or more cars, plus there is plenty of street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp down to the entrance of the building and wide double doors for a wheelchair to fit through.

Went for the first time 2 weeks ago. Food was amazing, staff were very friendly. The only thing I thought could use some work is the lighting. It feels like a cafeteria because its so bright and we went in the evening. Turn the lights down a little and maybe put on some quiet background music and it would get 5 stars from me.

Absolutely incredible food and service. Worth the time to go in amid sit for a meal :) If I had any feedback, I d suggest offering drink menus or asking if drinks other than water are wanted. You are a little rushed to pack up leftovers and pay. Thing is- it s SO kindly done, that it s difficult to fault. But if people are still grazing and actively using their forks, you may wish to wait a little longer before asking them to clear out. I m lonly saying this to help you guys improve. Great food tried a few dishes so far!

Went to this restaurant last night with my wife and two friends, Saturday Feb 17/24. If you want delicious, authentic, affordably priced Indian food, this is the place to go in Port Alberni. The restaurant is located wihin the old Italian social club building so the space is not the nicest restaurant but the food is AMAZING so who cares!!! In my opiniion they have far too many choices on the menu and ALL of them sound amazing and delicious but I couldnt possibly choose so we went for the buffet which was fantastic. Great way to try several dishes at once, next time I will choose from the menu. The staff is so attentive, helpful and pleasant, you really feel welcome and appreciated by everyone. The price of the meal including 1/2 litre of wine was just over $50 before tip, very good value for your money here. We will absolutely go back here again and again, I hope if youre reading this review you will give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

Port alberni beat kept secret. Great food great portions. Scared this place will make the mistake of the last restaurant in this location and not spend enough money on the curb appeal and signage. Make a large vinyl print logo to roll over that huge ugly sign way up in the air above it. No one driving by ever notices restaurants come and go food can be great but if no one gives u a chance due to the way the outside looks ur gonna fail. It s Buiness 1 0 1. Till they change that definitely give them a try. There portions are so large you have food for the next day making it better value than most of the restaurants intown

Okay..... This place is a complete surprise, It seemingly appeared out of nowhere in this old hotel bar. From the outside you will be deceived. What a strange location for what might just be one of the finest indian restaurants on the west coast. No joke. The first time I ate there I got a hot lamb masala and I woke up later that night completely haunted by the experience, craving more. I went back the next night for another one. Top tier flavors and textures with perfect spice levels. Generous portions of protein. Hot is actually hot but comfortable. Online take out ordering actually works and is ready on time. Very friendly staff. You have to try it.

I frequently travel to Mumbai and Delhi for work and found the food at Spice7, just as good, if not better. We tried the Butter Chicken, Lamb Coconut Curry, Fish Pakora, Calamari & Naan. Each was delicious and enjoyed by the whole family. We will definitely be trying more dishes.

Ordered the eggplant bhartha (mild but it was the perfect level of spice for me) and the vegetable coconut curry (mild, I think I ll try medium spice next time) and both were delicious! I also appreciate the volume of food that was packed into each takeout container. Using their online ordering system via their website was efficient, easy to use, no issues and order was ready for pick up in 20 minutes! I m looking forward to trying many more dishes. This is probably going to be a go-to takeout place! Thank you!

Delicious flavour. The portions are large! After tax, around $20/head for 3 people. That got us 3 curries (comes with rice or naan) and 2 garlic naans. Definitely recommended! Probably the best takeout I have had in Port Alberni to date. Also, I had a baby with me so they helped bring it to the car. Super friendly

I ordered the fried calamari. I really was hoping to give a very good review as I was looking forward to the description and photo of this item . I did order medium spice, which was on point. The coin (quarter) size rings were chewy than a heavy rubber band. It was like squid bubble gum. Very dissatisfied. The papdum is delicious, but, its a cracker. Mint chutney very good. Like is said I was really hoping to give 2 up but I cant. Sorry.

Authentic and delicious! My wife had the chicken korma and I had the goat rogan josh. We also split some vegetable pakoras. Just the right amount of spice, very generous servings, excellent customer service. Just a warning - the rogan josh has bones so be careful.

Omg probably the best mango chicken curry I have every had and the nan was soo soft and clean, no burn marks and seasoned with garlic on every edge on the bread.

We got take out from spice 7 tonight. The food was excellent, well portioned and good value. We ordered the Palak paneer, lamb masala and chicken korma. They were each distinct and very delicious. We arrived at 10 p.m. and everything around was closed. From the outside the restaurant doesnt look very appealing but as soon as we walked through the door we were very well received and above all: THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! The adorable waitresses. We were alone in the restaurant but we enjoyed our dishes. Indian TV in the background, air conditioning. Also do take away.

Coming into Port Alberni late in the evening, I came into this restaurant because it was one of the last still open... To be honest I was a bit skeptical when I saw the front of the restaurant. I would never have guessed that I would be having one of the best Indian eats in my life here ! I had Korma chicken, the food was amazing and served in very generous quantities for the price. The service was perfect, despite the fact that we came in when they closing. I cannot recommend this place enough!!

First time trying this restaurant. Simply put, it was amazingly wonderful! I have had the pleasure of eating many Indian meals made in family kitchens and the food served at Spice7 is as authentic as you will find. Hint: choose at least medium for the amount of heat in the dishes, otherwise you arent experiencing the true nature of the meal. Personally, ethnic food should always be served and eaten as if you were in a family kitchen. No need for any restaurant to sacrifice flavour. You can always say mild if you really have to. LOL The food we tried was: Butter chicken. 5 stars / A+ Rich, tangy sauce and perfectly cooked meat. Aloo Ghobi. 5 stars / A+ Perfectly prepared. So tasty! Basmati rice. 5 stars / A+ Perfect. Fluffy and tender. Veggie samosa. 5 stars / A+ Delicious filling surrounded by a pastry shell that was just right. Not too hard, not too soft. Garlic Naan. 5 stars / A+ Tasty and tender. (Will try the onion naan next time) I dont usually post reviews, nor do I rave about any particular restaurant but I am more than happy to recommend Spice7. Sure, the location and curb appeal might seem odd but once you walk in the door, you will know all is good! Really nice people working there. Port Alberni is fortunate to have a restaurant serving Indian food of this calibre. Go try it if you already havent - this place is a treasure that needs to stay open! After reading the reviews on this place we thought we would try it. We were not impressed by the food at all. The servers were friendly but the food was lacking authenticity. The Butter chicken was like over sweetend tomato soup with to much of a citrus undertone. Vindaloo was lacking spice and flavour, and the portions were quite small, however the rice and naan were okay. Will probably not return, next time we will try the other curry house a block away.

Weve had Indian cuisine in at least 7 cities and this in by FAR the best! The naan bread was absolutely perfect, nice and thin but firm enough to hold a mouthful of rice and curry. Just the right amount of chew. All the dishes spiced perfectly and the samosas to die for. And a pleasant surprise to find our Lager available in cans. Will definitely return. In the past 5 months since I first tried and reviewed Spice7, they ve definitely become my go-to takeout spot for dinner! I ordered from them yesterday and ordered again tonight :) It was my first time trying their kheer and I just feel like I have to drop a note to say that it s got such a lovely flavour. Kheer s one of my favourite desserts and I m so glad I have somewhere I can order it from when I don t feel like making it at home myself. So good! And their vegetable coconut curry continues to be my fav, must-order dish.

This place was fantastic! Absolutely delicious food thats amazing portions. I know someone who works there and the cooks have been cooking for many years, its real food not frozen or boxed stuff its all authentic and its so delicious, Im guilty to admit that most of the money I spend gets spent there its addictive and delicious I didnt even like Indian food until I went there honestly, and I dont even like spicy things but they have mild options as well which is just as delicious!

I really want to see these guys succeed, unfortunately for me after eating here 4 times I am finding a lack of consistency. One time was excellent, one was good, and two were not great. I think the prices are fair and staff are very nice.
