I am giving a five stars because I had a really bad experience in port Al Bernie, got work for 24 days got pretty much verbally abused the entire time and not paid for a single hour just had a roof over my head, doing hard labor 24 days 9 to 15 hours a day for no pay every single day with no breaks in between and I didn't have my wallet or IDs and they allowed me to get a room for the night and without that I would have been stuck on the streets in the pouring rain. I'm very thankful that they did this for me and if I'm ever in Port Alberni I'm probably going to stay there just because what they did for me means a lot to me.
Beautiful little motel in Alberni. Owners and kind and helpful and the price for a stay is amazing! This is not a MOTEL not a HOTEL and you are betting about double what you would pay for to stay somewhere else! Will stay everytime I am in Alberni for one or two nights.
The motel is old and run down but clean. Most of the guests are monthly rentals to factory workers, tradesmen etc. It was hot out, 32C, so before signing i specifically asked if the air conditioning was working. She got quite defensive and said she's never ever had any complaints. The A/C was not working. We got back from dinner and someone was parked in our spot so I took another spot. She came outside and told me to move. When i asked her why she could not ask the person in my spot to move, she said "No. He's a working man" So...., only go on cool days, be really flexible on parking, don't mind the hand-painted signs on your window and all will be well.
Clean rooms. Lil dated but great value. Lovely host. Working AC and full size fridge. Super hot water. No deadbolt.
This is a great lil motel it’s very rustic and dated but for the price it’s very much worth it ! Full kitchen with wifi and cable. I was impressed on how clean it was and the front desk lady was super friendly. I had to leave before the front desk was open and called back several days later about deposit which they have gone above and beyond to make sure I get back. I will most definitely be back on my travels! Great honest people and don’t be one of those people that drives by and judges a book by its cover.
If you are a working person just passing through, it does the job. But vacationing or looking for a nice clean room… pass. The lady at the desk greeted us by complaining about other patrons, and the rooms are very musty and outdated. Lamps were dusty, old paper computer signs everywhere, outdated scratchy linens and …. Just really stale and old. Clean enough if just looking to lay your head and pass through. They charge extra to use the in suite kitchens
We were a bit hesitant to book here because of some bad reviews, but we thought we d give it a shot anyway. The price is really good, the room was a bit old but clean, the bed comfortable and the staff was great! They were super welcoming, honnest and helpful ( we forgot both our coats hanging on the door when we left, they kept them in a safe place for us which we are very grateful for.) Thanks for everything, would deffinitly come back and recommend it to friends. As the staff said " this place is great value", they are absolutely right !
Stayed Monday August 22, 2022 in room #8. I don't care if it's older, everything works perfectly fine. Nicely kept and clean. Bed is comfortable. Has a kitchenette with a fridge and freezer, gas stove, microwave and coffee pot. A couch and 32 inch TV with alot of TV stations to choose from. Edit stayed two nights different room #18. Lucky 8's. Owners are very friendly.

Great place. Very clean. Older motel. The bed is very comfortable. All amenities are close by and easily accessible. Definitely, come back to the Bluebird.
The room is old but okay but you can hear lot of noises from the street. The price is really cheap ! So that a good one. Neighborhood are not really great.
The Blue Bird Motel may look old on the outside, but its surprisingly clean and the bed is really comfortable! Great value for the price!

The owners were very friendly, and the room was much better then expected for the budget friendly price! It included everything we needed- coffee, amenities, microwave and a mini fridge. Highly recommend for a cheap stay!
We arrive late in the evening just for sleeping and the room was nice and cozy. There was a sign that using the kitchen required a fee. The room looks clean. Highly recommended.
Dirty shaddy

Its a fine motel. No frills but functional. The beds were not comfortable enough to have a good nights sleep, but they did the job for the weekend. The second night we were here, the sheets had been changed to one with blood stains on it. The shower was barely functional and there was tape holding the curtain on. We wouldnt stay here again, but had an okay stay when we were here.
I was quite happy with my cheap room the night before a early fishing charter..
Will happy to give 0 star if allowed owners are full of arrogance booked the room and it smells pretty similar like. Garbage bin when i told them to refund 5 minutes after we booked owner abused us which was not acceptable they dont even know C of customer service I will never recommend anyone to visit this stinky and unhygienic motel

What so I love about the bluebird. Its cheap. You can do as you please. The garden of eden out front you can chill and bbq. Would my gf like it probably not. But clean beds and friendly service. Did i say cheap?
Me and my wife stayed here for a little bit when we came here the prices we thought we were pretty good so we end up staying for about a month but we had a lot of problems we had more than one bat in a place at different times in the landlords didnt want to do anything about it we had to go out and spend their own money to get rat poisoning in traps and we soon realized how expensive it really was they didnt keep the price one minute they would say it was this much in the next minute they would say it was another they kept putting our rent up more and more so we eventually left because we couldnt deal with it and we finally found a different Motel we could stay in
The review I am writing is directly to owner Hira Chopra. As I have taken the time to simmer down and rationalize, I have found I still have an issue with how inappropriately Mr. Chopra has handled a situation regarding Taxi #1 that he owns with United Cabs. My issue IS NOT WITH the taxi company or the driver!! After an issue with previously stated driver and taxi, the issue was under resolution, when I was asked if the owner of the cab could come and have a word with me. To elaborate, I grew up in Port Alberni, moved away, and came back for my 4-year-old nieces funeral. I thought Mr. Chopra was utilizing this time to apologize for the mishap.. however he came to intimidate me and try to talk me down on the price worth of my bag that I was willing to accept. The driver had already come to admit his guilt and apologize and pay for part of the cost the day prior to.. so I assumed the visit was a genuine apology, not an attempt to intimidate me into dropping the issue all-together. My complaint is directly at Hira Chopra and how inappropriately he had handled a situation and wasting my time to try to intimidate me while my family was at a hotel planning a funeral. Again, my issue has nothing to do with the service I received from the taxi driver or the taxi company, but ONLY Hira Chopra.

Id really like to give this a higher rating because the owners are quite nice. This place is a no frills motel and a decent price. Unfortunately this place was quite dirty to the point where there were hand marks all over the walls and light switches. I also woke up to flying ants all in my room which it appears they had insects nesting inside the walls. Im ok with older motels but they should still be kept clean.
been there a few days ago, the motel owner a kind-hearted person and his wife is a pure soul, I just asked for the tea in funny way, but the owner wife comes out with all the tea stuff and said if you need anything else let me know, (how sweet) thankyou so much to both of them for everything, their rooms also neat and clean with every facility
very old and outdated ... fridge froze everything even on low...one bed so sagged ... we should have known when office staff went in and lit a Sency light
Terrible rooms and terrible owners . Place needs to be updated . Dont rent a room there you will be disappointed !!!

The room was okay. A bit dirty (we found some cobwebs) but otherwise did the job. Beds were clean and so was the shower. The staff are extremely friendly. There s also a little garden area with a bench. The motel is far enough away from the pulp mill that we didn t smell it once.
The owners are amazing people very friendly very kind . The room was clean and comfortable. I ve stayed at many hotels, motels or rooms and this is definitely one of my favourites. Couldn t get nicer people . I recommend this to everyone
We stayed two nights, the single glazing lets you hear the road clearly in the morning. The room needs a good renovation, a few ants in the bathroom, but it remains the cheapest motel in the area
This is a wonderful and charming roadside motel. We stayed here after a long, cold & wet camping trip in Tofino and it felt like coming home. The hospitality is fantastic, the room was spacious and reasonable, very clean too.

It is great value, but be prepared for the cost savings. Cons - airflow -cleanliness Pros -Staff - so kind! -price -good for a one night stop If you are brave go for it, cant beat the value

Decent enough for a day or two stay especially if you are in a budget. Building and room are a little bit old. The owner is great and friendly.

Cheap motel, you get what you pay for! The accommodations were exactly what we needed- a place to rest our head for a night. We plan on coming back next time we travel out that way.

Not at all bad for a good nights sleep. Nothing fancy but all we needed.
Room smelled of smoke, peeling paint and not very clean-lots of dust, a big greasy hand print above the bed (noticed in the morning) no screens on the windows. Even our kids kept commenting that it was gross. It was cheap but we won t ever stay there again. Rooms

If you have no other choice
W. Y. S.I.W.Y.G for the price. Staff is very friendly and non imposing. Room was clean and had all standard amenities. Operator is friendly and also on top of anything sketchy. Was concerned about a heavy sleeping customer and handled it like a Boss. Also quick to show any late night thieves or rowdies that hes watching out for his guests and their vehicles. Definitely recommend to anyone that asks. Will go back myself. And dont forget the HUSKY station across the street. Open 24hrs. Good for the insomniac and chocolate cravings.

Location is convenient, rooms are pretty alright, for their price theyre good. Stayed overnight and was satisfied with the stay, but not necessarily impressed. Not bad!

Good
A bit like the city. Nothing very exciting, but quite authentic! Deep Canada, therefore with its charm. You should not be sensitive to decoration, nor too demanding about cleanliness. but the price is very fair, so there is nothing to say. The fact remains that this motel has something quite special that makes it endearing. We spent 2 nights there and have no regrets.
We had a nice stay the first time that we stayed again. The first room, 8, had a kitchen and strong wifi. The second time we stayed, we were in 14. This room was nice, but wifi didnt work in the room and there was no microwave. This was very unfortunate and uncomfortable as we had to be outside to use the internet in the rain and cold.

Very friendly staff, Clean, price is right. Older building, quiet.
The Manager was friendly. The room was small - one person had to go outside if another wanted to turn around - one bed had a valley and squeaked; the other bed had lumpy mountains. The shower easily got too hot at a slight touch of the tap and couldnt guide the spout from spraying on the floor. To use the toilette had to sit under the sink. However I think the spider liked the corner as had built quite a nest.
Clean and tidy
This was a fabulous choice... sure its not The Ritz ... but this place was comfortable and clean ... Very clean... best bang for your buck. And very very friendly.... they are certainly focused on excellent customer service.
Basic and cheap but not for a long stay
If you are on a budget, then this place is hard to beat. Aircon, bathroom with shower, 2 bedrooms with double bed and futon, kitchenette with microwave, cooker and fridge-freezer. I didnt really need all that, and it wasnt included in the description, so I may have got one of those no-other-rooms-left upgrades. Anyway, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and for me the location was great. Its not a palace, and although the room was clean and tidy it didnt have the freshest smell Ive ever smelt, but for value, it has to be given 5 stars.
It was ok, could certainly have been worse. If you are concerned about cleanliness and decor this wouldnt be the place for you. Rooms are dated with old furniture and could use a good deep clean as we found old food (piece of moldy pizza) and various items from previous guests in the fold out bed as well as dirty walls etc. Rooms are a good size however and staff are friendly and accommodating. I personally wont return, but good for someone who wants a cheap room.

Couldnt find anywhere to stay near tofino so I looked around Port Alberni. Its about 1.5 hours away from tofino. The price is good. Rooms are old but its good enough if youre just looking for somewhere to sleep. Its a short drive away from the gas station, fast food, supermarket, and other necessities.
You get what you pay for... and I was looking for inexpensive. It is. However, unlike other reviewers, I am satisfied; the sheets are new-ish and very clean, the entire room is clean, and although the room configuration is a bit bizarre (Room #19, next to the road; watch your step walking in) it is sufficient. Would I stay here again?? Of course. Am I satisfied?? Of course.

It was a great place to stay, my dog was allowed, not fancy but quiet.
Alright - I think a tent would have been better, to be honest. We crashed here because our car broke down, but we cant recommend it at all. It was dirty overall, pretty offensive, the dishes were dirty, there was mold in the shower, the towels were old, and the bed uncomfortable and there was hair everywhere. This is definitely the sketchiest place Ive ever been to and not worth 75 bucks. I was really worried about catching a hepatitis.
