Delicious food! Outside at the quay so wheelchair friendly. Prices are very reasonable, and the staff are super friendly! My friend says they have the best poutine in Port Alberni and I'm inclined to agree! She usually orders some and walks home, and it's still warm when she gets home! Sandwiches and wraps are amazing, breakfast and lunch. The breakfast wrap was surprisingly large, and absolutely stuffed with excellent food. Would definitely recommend :)
Literally the best crispy spicy chicken burger I’ve had and some of the best poutine on vancouver island. Ive been here many times during my 3 month stay in port alberni and its been 100% consistent and the ingredients have always been amazing, crisp, and fresh. This hidden gem is quite possibly one of the best restaurants on vancouver island. No exaggeration.
Down by the pier, live band playing Friday night nice sunny Friday evening. The Brisket is the best I’ve had in town so far, little mom and pop food shack. The brisket was full of smoke flavor like it’s supposed to be.
Best lunch I've had in months! Decided to do something different for lunch today, so I went down to the harbor. Boy am I happy I actually did today! Best beef brisket I've ever had. And the lady that served me was super nice, she even helped me out by begging up my food when I asked for it to go! I 100% will be eating there again!
The services was amazing- the lady who served me was very kind! I got the pulled pork poutine and all the ingredients were fantastic!!! My only recommendation is to make the fries crispier :)
BLT with egg and sausage is AMAZING! we got that and a breakfast wrap (and 2 hashbrowns) and shared but next time i would just get the whole blt for myself! the bacon was so CRISPY and super flavorful. the sausage was delicious. the bun also had great texture. i couldnt believe the blt with egg could taste so good!!!

I have frequented Homestead Cookhouse several times now over the past few months. My absolute favorite place for Saturday breakfast. The Beast sandwich is awesome. Everything about this place is consistently excellent.
Near the harbour, huge portions of good quality smoked meats on poutine or bun. Washrooms and seating area provided by the this harbour fast food area.
My favorite go to spot when were on vacation here. The food is incredible.

Best pulled pork EVER! This is the only thing weve ordered off the menu, but it was always consistent. I dont know what the sauerkraut is, but its not what youd expect when you see if listed on the menu. Its fresh and dressed with the most delicious sauce. I have tried figuring out what it is so I could make it on my own, but have never succeeded. No indoor dining, but there are picnic tables outside and around the quay. Parking: The quay is usually busy and difficult to find parking. There is a parking lot out back as well though.
Just some friendly folks running a takeout kitchen. Fast service. Good smoked meats. Good poutine. Good breakfasts. Homemade scotch eggs.
OMG soooooo yummy...I crave their Hot Dogs every day now...just so tasty....thank you for providing such tasty treats to Port Albernis residents and visitors... :)
We had lunch here, the service was ok, the food borderline awful, my chicken burger no taste and if you want more than the burger like fries you get to pay for the side, my hubby had salmon and prawn rice dish, no flavour, day old rice , the other lady at our table had poutine and was so bad she didn t eat it, the portion size was ok but when don t you get fries with a burger really!!!! Try somewhere else!!!

I love the Homested Cookhouse! I am so happy that we have it as one of the vendors that are offering their services to anyone visiting the Harbour Quay in Port Alberni. Their food is amazing, DELICIOUS and very generous portions. Please try pooled pork putine or anything on the menu, you will nor be disappointed !

We were recently in Ucluelet on vacation from Alberta with our family. My husband and I drove into Port Alberni with our 13-year-old grandson to do laundry and check out the town. We wandered downtown and found a delightful outdoor market. It was time for lunch, and we were all hungry. I have multiple food allergies and while they all make me sick in one way or another, some are life threatening and have hospitalized me. The restaurants at this market are in a row, and you go up to the window to order. Then there are tables scattered outside to sit and enjoy your lunch. I went to one window after another to speak to the staff and look at menus and kept coming up hungry. Finally, I ended up at Homestead Cookhouse. This lovely lady came to the window and was so professional and kind I knew I would be taken care of. I explained my allergies and she reassured me I could have a safe meal. I had the most delicious burger in a lettuce wrap, and I have never had one better wrapped, tastier and more beautiful to look at. It was the best burger on the island. There is one thing I am wondering too. I had a black coffee. I hope the lady sees this review and can tell me what the coffee is and where I can order some. Oh my gosh was it delicious and flavorful! Thank you for a happy tummy!

Love the food here. Pick up a sandwich and drink and head over to a bench by the inlet. You might be lucky and spot an orca or dolphin.
Great place and very nice people. Far better Value/Price compared to the highly rated Fish/chips on the corner..... The PulledPork was a great lunch, sitting outside is a bit simple but good to watch people passing by

Best candied smoked salmon soup ever. The halibut & onion rings my husband had were excellent as well. Hope to return again soon

I had the crispy chicken sandwich with fries. The price was outstanding given the current market. The chicken was delicious and the fries were top notch. They have multiple sauces to put on the burger. No pickles though. I also tried the pulled pork poutine. It was great. Really hearty. They really fill you up and thats important to me. Highly recommend giving them a try.

Was Good until the new owners, they cut to many corners. They used iceberg in place of coleslaw and you pay the same price but get no fries which aren t very good either (frozen and no longer fresh and pan fried)

Please... take chili of your menu. I see you enjoy a good average review, but from that I cant begin to understand why. Gross may seem harsh, but... at least the prepackaged crackers got some of the taste out. Yes, Im the guy that handed it back to you 7/8ths full and said, thanks anyway and despite standing outside your door quietly writing this review, I could hear the waitress telling you I didnt like it, yet you arent offering me anything else. So both on account of the chili and your ability to turn an unhappy customer... yuk.

Truly one of the best kept secrets on Vancouver Island. Most people only pass through Port Alberni to get to Tofino or Ucluelet never realizing they are passing by the best pulled pork sandwich on this rock. Eat it while taking in the beauty of the harbour quay. Joan, the chef, is also a real treat to laugh and converse with. We wont be able to go through port Alberni again without stopping in.
LOVE the food here! Fresh and delicious! Prices are very good portions are huge! Food is home cooked and full of flavour a real hidden gem in Port Alberni!
