St Jean's Cannery in Port Alberni

Our 1st time here. Dropped off some fish for processing. Super nice and helpful people. They explained the differences processes and what to expect for taste. We left about 100lbs of fish. Cant wait to get our order.....

Expensive value-added retail items targeted to tourists. Canning and freezing targeted to out of province fishermen who have to use them to transport their catch.

They stayed open late so we could run fish to them from Ucluelet after the processor there got overloaded and couldn't take more fish. Super nice of them and much appreciated.

Good place to bring fresh salmon to get processed but, tins are very small. Would be nice if their size could be doubled.

Visited the Port Alberni location heading back from Bamfield. Service was excellent. The staff member assisted with some spring salmon that we wanted to get processed and candied. Very informative. Great product. Give this place a try if you have fish to process or just want to purchase some product.

The real deal for local west coast seafood. Great variety of canned, smoked, and frozen goods in this little shop: Tuna, salmon, sturgeon, crab, oysters, cod, halibut, prawns, clams and more, including complimentary items like crackers, marinades and antipasto. LOVE the local smoked tinned salmon (look for the unlabelled stuff on the shelf to the right of the entrance). Gift baskets available. If you're into fishing then St. Jean's can also process your catch.
