Stopped in on route from Tofino and so happy to find this place! Healthy delicious food the whole family enjoyed! Will be a regular stop from now on!

Excellent taco salad with a very tasty sour cream salsa on the side and 2 different hot sauces to choose from. The servers were over the top friendly and brought the food out quickly. We were also treated to some great travel tips

Wow. The food was simply delicious. I had a burrito and my wife had the Fiesta Bowl, both with chicken. Fantastic! And the people, whether employees or guests, were extremely friendly and we as Germans got into conversation with them straight away. It was so beautiful. We just wanted something to eat but after the great and informative conversation we didnt want to leave. We would love to come here again and again. Kind regards Andreas and Daniela

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. I went there for my birthday dinner and it was amazing. They played happy birthday, gave me a sombrero and my little brother a maraca. They gave me a cute little umbrella for my drink and stuck a candle into my enchilada. Afterwards, they gave us a basket of churros for free. Food was 10/10. I cant even put into words how much I recommend porto taco!

This is not the cheapest taco place you will ever find. The prices are a bit higher than one might expect. However the portions are large and the food is delicious. I couldnt even finish my meal. Come with a full stomach and you will leave having to roll yourself off the seat.

You need to go here! Popped in here just for some tacos, left with 2x the taco special, and 4x mango margaritas. Taco special was amazing! Best tacos I ve had in a long time, also the mango margaritas were outstanding! Funky atmosphere and the lady at the front counter was super lovely and friendly. Thank you guys, thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our visit. Will be back. If you re looking for good tacos in the area, this is a must. Beef tacos was my favourite.

The fish was fresh, light and crunchy, cooked to perfection. The mayo and slaw also brightened the taco with the house jalapeño hot sauce as the cherry on top. Amazing tacos!!!

Stopped at Porto Taco while driving through Port Alberni. The food was delicious! And the staff was super nice. Would 100% come back again!

Visited here with husband and kids, paid $68 for four full meals (2 mucho nacho, taco salad and burrito) that my eldest granddaughter said deserved and a Chefs Kiss. I couldnt agree more, first time there and it was so delicious!

I just love this place. Staff are fabulous Food is fresh and delicious Restaurant and bathroom always clean when I go. Decor is mexican themed restaurant. Ive had their tacos, loved them. Had their taco salad that garlic sauce Rice bowl is my least fav of the things Ive tried and I loved that too. My mom loved their quesadillas. Best of all, its filling. Parking: If you have a hard time with slanted surfaces be prepared to take your time. Its at the bottom of a hill. Wheelchair accessibility: It is doable but has little rise at the door. A good foot or close to foot rise to get to patio dining.

This place is absolutely zusting. Huge portions for a good price and great service. One of the best eating environments I ve been in, very accommodating for a large group of 12. Awesome churros, for sure recommend the meat platter. Go out of your way to visit!

The food was amazing, specially sea food. I ordered fish taco and halibut taco, did not feel any differences but fish was really fresh and delicious.

I ate an excellent burrito, very tasty and filling. A small outdoor terrace overlooking the road but still pleasant or large wooden tables inside. It s warm and delicious!

Spent $115 on 7 tacos and a margarita. The order was all mixed up between 3 people and an additional taco was charged to the bill while one we ordered was not. After approaching a staff member they laughed and showed us the bill which was not accurate. All mexd up is a block down and much cheaper. They re service is so much better. I do not intend on coming back to port o taco.

overpriced that was wack, the old crabby lady laughed at me and my friends when our order was wrong and wasn t interested in helping us, not impressed at all I liked the Mexican music but I came here for food not bangin tracks

Food tasted good. Good portions and prices, depending on the dish you order. Customer service was a huge turnoff and a great reason to not come back. Happy Hour is advertised all over, but they were not able to tell us what was on Happy Hour or prices. Did not come across as the friendliest people, not making any eye contact or conversation while ordering. Not a fan of the high tip percentage options, 30% for ordering at the counter and getting our own water? And one of the workers smell of cigarettes was pretty strong, for the one time they came to our table. Just overall not impressed with the customer service.

Not only was the food absolutely delicious but everyone we interacted with was the epitome of grace and kindness. You have your choice of seating from the bar, the patio, and the big shared table. I can recommend the chicken tostada, the beef taco salad, and the strawberry aqua fresca!

What a charming taco joint! It s brightly and adequately decorated with a small patio for those warmer days. The service was friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed my quesadilla and freshly prepare churros!

My husband and I stopped in on a whim while passing through Port Alberni during a little road trip across the island, and Porto Taco ended up being one of the highlights of our whole trip. The food was incredible, the service was fast and friendly. What else could you want?

We did not enjoy & would never go back. I didn t know from their website that it s not authentic Mexican or even Canadian Mexican but the owners interpretation of ??. Sadly, it s not even relatable to modern Mexico - I went 4 times to different regions this year alone and didn t see anything anywhere even remotely like it. Oh well, niw we know. Each bite tasted the same, looked like a mess of slop rolled in a thin dough with a ridiculously outta place beet swirl on top. The guacamole is a frothed sauce that we had to pay extra for along with the cheese but there was zero trace of either in the roll. They explained it dissolves in bcs of the heat but it was barely luke warm?? So I guess our extra money we paid disappeared too. One member of our party was famished but only are half with a shrug. Depending on what you ordered is how it s served. Some were given nice plates and others had to eat from plastic hotdog baskets. When a plate & fork & knife were asked for only a tiny side plate was provided :(- First thing I asked about was the hot sauces because I like it spicy - she assured me they had a wonderful selection of homemade. After, she brought two bottles and mistakenly told us the spicy was the mild and the mild was the spicy. We questioned to be sure bcs one member of our party is super sensitive to heat & the other likes to eat fire :0 sooo of course, the first to try found out the hard way she had mixed up the descriptions. The homemade hot sauces were both green, both a disappointment but neither v spicy. The chicken was dry, the shrimp almost non existent and although I mentioned twice I didn t like corn and asked if corn was in the Pico de gala or anywhere I found it in my dinner sigh & yuck. The only member of our party to eat the mystery orange sauce served on the plate in a tiny bowl & ate the homemade salsa had an immediate trip to the restroom within minutes of leaving. This person never has digestive issues and felt strongly it was said food related. The waitress told us she was new and it showed: no concept of a personal bubble, touched me three different times on my back & shoulders in a too familiar way when speaking with me, didn t know the names of items and kept answering our question in what seemed like unrelated gibberish - a strange experience indeed. Bad enough it was cold inside but every time the door opened a chill would rush in brrrr. It certainly wasn t a warm port on a cold night.

Best taco you will eat

Fantastic food, and fast, friendly service. The tacos and burritos are easily as good as the ones from that super-popular, island-based taco shop... But when you add in the house tomatillo and jalapeno salsas, Porto takes the win. Their chimichanga eliminates any debate altogether, and stands head and shoulder above the rest (in my opinion). Delicious!!

Absolutely amazing place! Highly recommend!! Wonderful customer service! Fast service! The boss lady (sweetest lady ever) even brought us out extra chips and salsa because we ate it so fast! The prices are great for the quality of food you get! Everything was so fresh and flavourful!!! We will most definitely be going back!!

Hubby and I got some take out, with churros to go. Sooooo yummy! I crave those churros all the time. They offered us samples of spicy cookies and two separate drinks they made from scratch. Definitely will be going back!

3 because the service (waitress) was great and she made us a great margarita, but the food was not something we will ever go back for. Super cute little corner Mexican place but the burrito I ordered hardly had any beef, was filled with plain white rice and was super bland; I could make one 10x better myself. The enchilada had gross rubbery chicken and no sauces on top like an enchilada should have and it came with a weird side of plain white rice with a mix of random stuff thrown on top. For a $70 tab we expected a lot more. Overpriced and disappointing.

This place is somewhere I always made sure to stop when Im visiting Port Alberni. But likely not after today. I walked in, no one in front or behind me, promptly ordered and paid. I watched a steady roll of customers order, eat/take out, and leave after me, while I sat and waited and left people waiting in the car. With what seemed to be a pretty good staffing set up in the kitchen, they told me only a few more minutes each time I asked about my order, wondering to myself what the heck was taking so long - the restaurant was empty, and the kitchen staff were visiting amongst themselves and had starting cleaning up in the back. After 30 minutes of sitting there, not one employee asked me what I was waiting for so they could find out what was up. Instead, I was offered a margarita while I waited.... for another 15 minutes. Finally I walked up to the kitchen myself - I could see no one was working on assembling a very uncomplicated, $48 order of only three beef burritos to be told oh sorry, we lost your order. After scrambling to pull it together, the only way they offered to make it right were with endless apologies thrown in with some complimentary churros, and chips and salsa that we didnt want in the first place. The cherry on top: there was a hair found in one of our burritos - they all ended up in the garbage. To end on a positive note, the margarita was delicious. But I cant say I will be rushing back or talking this place up to my friends and family in the area anymore after this sub-par experience.

Paid $23 for a halibut burrito with the teeniest tiniest piece of fish in it. Seriously, I was two thirds of the way through before getting to the little bit of halibut. Should have been called a bean and rice burrito :( Also, paid an extra $2 for guacamole which never made it in the burrito. Overpriced, underdelivered and not worth the stop.

Best Mexican food we have ever had. My husband had the nachos with beef and I had the enchiladas with rice. Both were so flavourful. The ladies were friendly and helpful. I m not sure when we can go back but I can t wait to.

Very tasty! Portions are large. For us Ukrainians, it seemed a bit spicy, but we are simply not used to such dishes. But I really liked everything, the taste of the dishes is excellent. We ate quesadilla, tacos, burritos.

Probably one of the best tacos Ive ever had. My husband agrees. We got the chicken and red snapper. Good size, perfect amount of sauce, fresh...incredible! We will be back.

Good food... but at a price. Some friends were visiting from out of town and wanted tacos. My usual place was closed so we ended up here. I went here several years ago when they first opened and remembered it being good. Our consensus after all said was the food was average and expensive. 2 of us had a burrito with a few extra add-ons like cheese (liquid?) guacamole and jalapenos and both came to over $20 before tip. The other had two fish tacos which were a decent size but also came to over $20 before tip.
