500 Steele St UNIT 18, Port Colborne, ON L3K 4Y2, Canada
I have been a couple of times and was not impressed. I decided to give it a go one more time and I can say I was totally impressed. My co-worker and I came in for lunch and we were the first lunch orders of the day. The cook came out and asked if we would mind if he could be a little creative with our meals. I ordered the fish and chips and he brought out a fish sandwich made with focaccia bread. It was to die for. My coworkers burgers has also amazing and juicy. Not dry at all. Will be back again!!
I have been going to the Steele and Clover Public House for over 1 yr. The lady that works behind the bar is Debbie. She is extremely courteous to me .She is extremely polite. I always have steak on a bun which is the best I have ever had. Debbie is very customer service focused and a great asset to the business. I look forward to going there soon.
Be-aware this was our first experience. I know sometimes you can catch places on bad days but truthfully I was shocked at our experience. We walked into the dining area to be the only table on the none bar side, the environment is nice very loud and noise, even the kitchens music was loud we could hear it from our seats. The bar side was packed but an adequate amount of servers covering both sides. Our server took our order for apps and our kids meal and brought back drinks and we ordered our meals. The app felt like it took forever between 30-40 minutes for pretzels, to the point of my drink being empty after slowly sipping them and to also note not offered a refill or checked on. We got the wrong order for our kids meal from ordering a grilled cheese to being served chicken nuggets it was quickly exchanged within 10 minutes. My son ordered a spaghetti which was very chunky tomatoes, we all know kids don't like chunky food luckily he's chill and pushed them to the side but I felt the pasta sauce was very bland no flavor or vegetables or anything just felt like tomatoes out of a can. Once we were served our food I thought my Shepherds pie tasted off and after two bites I was completely turned off I had felt as though some of the meat was still pink and not cooked fully. We also got a steak sandwich which wasn't that bad thankfully. The best part of the whole meal was the French fries. We were waiting for ever we had stacked our plates and where going to order the ice cream that our children get with their meals however our server was more occupied talking with her other server, my children had gotten impatient and decided they didn't want their dessert anymore and my husband had to go track down the server. The service was by far the worst I've had in a while, to seeing a $23 dollar meal have two bites taken out and being left behind to be thrown in the garbage... Unfortunately I just don't think we would be returning to this restaurant.
Thanks for a great evenin g. Food was plentiful, tasted great and service was lovely. The live music was a nice after dinner treat. Great restaurant!
If I could give this pub no stars, I would. We're from out of town and was told this place was amazing. We walked in and it wasn't busy, but we were totally ignored. Sat down at a table, nobody came over. Waitress and bartender saw us but chose to ignore us. We had to ask for a menu. Menu was taken to the table, but still no words were spoken to us. We weren't asked if we wanted any drinks to start off, weren't told they'd be right with us, nothing. We sat there for a few more minutes. Waitress and bartender walked by our table numerous times and said nothing. I thought we were part of a prank, it was so obvious they did not want us there. I had to go to the bar to ask if we could order drinks. Waitress acted like she didn't want to have anything to do with us. We were so confused cause we were told it was a friendly place to hang out. We decided to leave at that point. Sad to say but we felt like an inconvenience.
Went for supper this evening with my family including my 6 year old nephew. Food was awesome and Pub is very inviting. Unfortunately I did not catch servers names but they were very friendly and attentive. As busy as they were they came to do quality checks and made sure our needs were met. Great place in our city.
Food was Oķ, but nothing to right home to mother about. We shared a jalapeño popper, which was very good, and we each got a fish n chip. The fries were good, but the fish was advertised to be 'beer' batter, which it was certainly not. Fish, I found kind of dry and nit flake. Service I found very slow and unattentive. The server played on her phone the entire time we were in there and did not pay attention to the clients. Appetizers were served. We had no plates until were we half way finished them. Yes, we used the only napkin that we were given to set the popper down on. The room was extremely hot and stuffy, with no A/C. The surroundings and the decore were actually very nice and relaxing. Also, to note that the online menu did not jive with the restaurant menu. Please take this review as constructive criticism as I think you are sitting on a gold mine.
The service is very good, we arrived on a very busy day and it was still fast. The food is delicious, the price is worth it, the portions are generous.
beers with buddys
Sucks they only let me give you guys 5 of these.. awesome food guys
Ordered takeout. The fries were raw, like biting an apple with gravy on it. Worst $50 ever spent.
Excellent food and lots of it. Great service from Gord, good value for money.
Kid-friendliness: Family friendly atmosphere, kids menu available, dining room available for family dining Food
Demi was our waitress. She was awesome. The food was delicious. Im pretty sure they sell a lot of Guinness. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes it is wheel chair accessable.
Great Nachos and steak submarine sandwich.
Worst experience, finding a hard plastic sharp glass about 1 size in my soup, all I get was they were sorry and the waitress left dirty dishes in front of me, and cleared my friends...I asked to speak to the manager, and the cook was the manager during the evening.... never will go back
Amazing restaurant, we didnt get a chance to play with the golf simulator, but the food was so good we went twice on our trip to port Colborne. The new broccoli bite are to die for Vegetarian options: Not many options, but the stir fry and egg plant Parmesan are delicious
It looks much bigger inside than outside. Great variety of food and super cozy.
Lovely bar tenders great food and cold drinks great spot
Awesome place great food, great service ! Highly recommend, check em out.
Great place for a pint of Guiness
Great Irish Pub atmosphere. Some appetizers are way overpriced ! Had the fried mushrooms. Received 10 small mushrooms for $14. (Average quality at best).
Stopped in last night for the first time, and we had the BEST SERVER! Demi was amazing. She is so charismatic and friendly! Would definitely recommend a visit to this place!
Food was very good. We had the cheese and spinach dip, liver and onions, and steak sub. All good. Liver was a little over cooked for my liking but my fault for not saying how I wanted it. Service was a bit lacking. Had to ask twice for more soda and the empty plate from our app was left on the table even though 2 servers came to our table and the plate was at the edge of the table. Little thing I know but bothers me.
Great folks who were fun and attentive.
First time in. Food was good and service the same. Young fella serving us took very good care of us.
All around good food and service
Great pub atmosphere. Food has always been great. Lots of different kinds of beer on tap. And the option to book the golf simulator! Vegetarian options: They have a lot of appetizers that are vegetarian. Lately newer things on the menu that are added without meat or fish. Parking: Part of a plaza with lots of parking Kid-friendliness: Kid menu
Great pub with a nice atmosphere. Menu and food are good. Sunday wing special Good draft beer selection. Food
Good home cooked food.
Unfortunately our last visit was not great. Service was not very friendly food was average. We came around 6 30 pm on a week night. It was not very busy. We felt like an inconvenience.
Positive Business That Stands With The Community! Had a chance to personally give the owner props! He catered a local tournament. Thanks for the pizza
Pleasantly surprised by this late lunch stop. Food was very good, and staff super friendly. Fresh, hot and a good variety of options available.
Awesome spot to enjoy yourself. If youre there for dinner or just to watch a game, you will enjoy everything guaranteed!
Always great food, service & a very busy place which tells you something! Nice place to enjoy live music too.
Just went for after dinner drinks on a Friday night. The place was rocking. Part of the 80s Rock band was putting on a great show.
The staff is lovely! However, if you sit on the dining side, it often takes a while to get service after you seat yourself. Often its the bartender who is taking care of the whole area. But its worth the wait!! The food is great. The havarti sticks are outstanding. And unique! Food
Great food, good service.
Never had a bad meal. Service is always good and friendly.
My husband did virtual golf here and loved the experience. Food was burnt but good time
Went here yesterday for supper with a friend after a long day. The waitress was terrific! Fast & efficient. I had the chicken sandwich and although I must say it would be better with ranch instead of mayo, it was with a 9.5 out of 10 (the .5 missing being that I m just a ranch lover lol) but hands down the best chicken sandwich I ve ever had. Their soup was also delicious, it was potato bacon. My friend had the Mac & cheese which she also said was the best she s ever had. For a little hole in the wall bar/restaurant it s absolutely BEAUTIFUL inside with a nice Irish feel with super cute decor. We just moved to port in October and this may be our new favourite spot. I can t wait to try the rest of the menu! Thank you for making my experience as good as it was :)
Beer was cold and the service was good
A Bar and Restaurant in one, Atmosphere was great, you can sit at the Bar and socialize or go to the dining room for a more intimate atmosphere. The food is very tasty, the service is fast and friendly with many choices. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free options are available and theres something for everyone.
Great food, always great service and friendly atmosphere
Love this little pub. Great service good food. Fresh Guinness
Just watch out for the pop refills. I was there twice with free refills, then once they got an extra 20 bucks in refills on me. I like paces that are consistent on their charges.
First time there. Went and visited my Mom and took her out for lunch. Geoff was our server and even my 9 year old said he was a great server. Amazing food (they had chicken fingers and I had wings) and service. Will definitely be back. Totally recommend this place Parking: My Mom has a walker and it would be helpful for elderly to get in with easier access especially since its close to a nursing home.Only downfall. Great other wise.
Great place to sit and meet friends
Well Im not sure if its me who is cheap or not with the sign of the times/prices. 2 fish dinners ( mind you it was haddock and not cod) half decent size. Fries included. 2 pops. $50.00. Waitress was good. The overall experience left me unsatisfied. Cannot pin point why besides the prices for the value I guess If I could give it an extra half point. I would do 3.5 as opposed to a 3
What a relaxing, friendly place to go for lunch and the food was amazing. I took my customer here for a lunch meeting. I had the Sheppards Pie Poutine, absolutely delicious. Thanks for the great service!
Love the pub style spots. The server was super accommodating & friendly. The food was standard pub fare but very good, and the Guinness was properly poured.
Awesome service and fabulous food! Highly recommend
Real nice atmosphere only stopped in for a beer
Was there tonight last time was amazing tonight ordered the same as last time best part of the drunken muscles was the garlic bread the fish and chips not fresh but frozen breaded fish not fresh if I wanted frozen fish I would have stayed home wont go back now
Very friendly pub. Relaxing atmosphere with a well stacked bar.Menu is well above typical bar food and of course, I enjoy my GUINNESS!
This was my 1st time at Steele and Clover. I had the chicken wings to start. They were delicious! Medium, saucy with a bit of a kick. My entrée was their fish and chips: The best Ive had in years! The batter was thin and crisp, the haddock cooked perfectly, firm and flavourful. My meal was followed by the Baileys Irish Cream Cheesecake which was absolutely scrumptious! Light and creamy with a oreo crust that was to die for! The restaurant is clean and comfortable with beautiful lighting, large screens for sports entertainment and a perfectly chosen radio playlist. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. A great little escape from the old Port Colborne fare and well worth the trip to Port if youre from out of town. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Steele and Clover Public House and cant wait to return!
Amazing meal, great portions, awesome service! Had the burger and def is homemade and to die for! Awesome
My husband had liver and onions absolutely delicious. I had the turkey on Pretzel bun with sweet potato fries, also delicious. Service was very good 3rd time there. Never disappointed.
Great service and atmosphere!
Friendly staff! Clean, delicious food! I ordered the poutine and I was in heaven!
Our first time there - servers were super friendly & attentive. We did drinks & apps, you have to try the Havarti cheese sticks!
I had a great time there. I cant wait to go back
Good service, good food and drinks and reasonable prices
1st time visit to this establishment...great service and excellent food! Will definitely be returning my next trip to Port Colborne!
Great service and food!
Great atmosphere. Had Sheppards Pie, it was ok, almost like they were trying to be too fancy. Its a pub, people are there for pub style food. Sheppards Pie was a little light on potatoes. Definitely room for improvement.
Nice beer selection atmosphere and service. Didnt have food
Beer.
Went with some friends. Plenty of room. Everyones food came out in a timely manner. Good quality food at good prices. Would definitely recommend going there.
Jeff black is the best
This was an amazing experience. Great service & the food was perfect. Great for families too!
Great staff and they have Guinness and Kilkenny on tap. Would have been five but the wings were on the small side, in their defense that seems to be everywhere now .
Cute server
Monday lunch Had prime rib grilled cheese sandwich special which came with huge serving french fries(took 1/2 of fries home because lunch very large). Large amount of wonderful prime rib on sandwich. Eat on patio. Superb service. Very reasonable prices for great lunch. Washrooms very nice.
Went for dinner on a Monday night, wasn t too busy. The three of us ordered; a cheeseburger, the chicken fingers and bangers and mash. The portions are big, the prices are reasonable. The burger and chicken fingers were good, the fries meh. The bangers and mash was terrible. Bangers are a specific kind of British sausage made with fillers and have a unique flavour, these were just pork sausages. Sausages that had been cooked previously, as had the red potatoes that were then warmed up (microwaved?) then just smashed with a fork. Neither the sausages or the potatoes were hot, and the vegetable melody on the side had char marks which made them taste burnt. Not sure about going back.
Great service. Comfortable. And the Reuben sandwich was amazing.
Staff very nice
Great service
The food is good and the beer is cold. You got to eat here.
Serving previous days special. Poor menu
Great place, great food
Friendly staff great wings and great entertainment
We decided to give this place a shot after a friend raved... It was pretty good... My wife had the Guiness stew... which was excellent... my young son had poutine... again pretty good... I ordered liver and onions... which tasted pretty good... but I was disappointed with the portion size... the liver was sliced very thin... 2 small pieces... and a small scoop of both potatoes and boiled veggies... luckily my son couldnt finish his poutine... so I didnt leave hungry... lol... I will go here again... but Ill try the Fish n Chips which comes highly recommended...
Good food here and nice spot. Could be open a little later though.
Waited over 15 minutes on hold, because the lady needed a minute. Said she d only been a minute and never came back to the phone When calling back it would even ring.. Not overly impressed that the lady working didn t come back to the phone.
Super excited to have a new neighbour in the plaza! Geoff and his staff have worked hard to get this place up and running! With covid and other unforeseen delays, its been 2 years in the making and we are happy that they have finally opened this week! So far we have ordered their Beef & Barley Soup and the Chicken Fingers with Dusted Fries. Helder and the staff were awesome, very kind and working hard! Im sure they will see many bumps along the way with their first week being open, juggling the new menu and ironing out all the kinks that come with a new business, but with a little patience from the patrons, I have great expectations that this place is going to be a fantastic addition to Port Colborne!
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Gotta try the scotch eggs and drunken mussels. All the Irish ales on tap.
This is an excellent pub and a welcome addition to Port Colborne. It has the best selection of Irish Whiskey that I have ever seen in one place and a decent tap selection as well (including Kilkenny, Guinness, Harp, Alexander Keiths, Stella, etc.) The food is excellent -- especially the chicken and the Baileys cheesecake. As a man who spent most of his adult life on the East Coast, I also appreciate the pubs East Coast vibe and music. Im sure Ill be back many a time.
Service staff very inexperienced, never came back to the table to check on the food or drinks. Took our order and brought the bill. Portions very small for price. Might try again in 6 month if they are still open.
Very busy, $6 guiness during happy hour
First time going, menu wasnt huge but the 4 of us all enjoyed our food. Wait staff was very friendly. Definitely going to go again...
Great pub atmosphere. Delicious food Staff attentive, personable and professional. Will go back often.
This is exactly what Port needs. Good vibes, good food, excellent service and a proper pint of Guinness. Glad we have a place this in Port now!
We were looking forward to trying this spot and honestly it exceeded expectations. Highly recommend trying the cheese sticks and the fish and chips. Shephards pie was also hearty and delicious! And the decor/ambience is really unbeatable, we will definitely be back.
The food was not very hot fries were soggy forget ingredients it would be a while I go back
The ambience is great, and great place if you just want to have a couple beer. But, the food is overpriced for the portion sizes, and really not that good. For example, the burger is just a pressed patty (not homemade) and fries were soggy for $16+ tax. Staff was hit or miss as far as attentiveness, but were friendly both times we were there. Will probably try again in a few months, hopefully the growing pains will be over by then.
Great pub experience
Me and my wife went for our first time. Food was great, staff came to our table often for refills. Place was very clean.
Food is Pricey
