Since 1975, De Dutch has been offering our guests an unique blend of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes The Pannekoek, or 12" in diameter genuine Dutch pancake, is our signature dish. But we're not just Pannekoeken! From genuine Dutch cuisine to West Coast favourites prepared with a subtle, yet original Dutch twist!
De Dutch in PoCo is a fantastic place for breakfast or brunch. Our family often pops in spontaneously, and we've never been disappointed. Staff are welcoming and kind. This weekend, I tried the Banana Walnut Pannekoek. It was great - balanced sweetness and satisfying textures. I'd definitely order it again. Wonderful coffee as well.
A friend brought me here for breakfast. It's wasn't where I would have chosen but any preconceptions were all wrong. We got great service (professional, polite, friendly and sense of humour), the place was bright and very clean, and the food was great! I had hash and poached eggs medium (no pancake) and it was excellent. Perfect in fact! Okay, so the view outside was a car park, but who cares when your breakfast is this good?
We were sat right by the solarium style area with lots of windows and light shining through.....so good start. What's good about chain restaurants is you can expect a set standard. What that standard is of course depends on the chain. Before heading to DeDutch, we walked into a local family-owned breakfast place, and walked right back out. Why? Well......standards....let's leave it there. The Canuck French Toast - Decent. It came with back bacon instead of strip. I don't like back bacon. Back bacon is like the ugly unpopular cousin of strip bacon. However, this was actually prepared quite well. Crispy on the outside, juicy in the middle, not overloaded with sodium, and the grease padded away. DeBakon Avocado Benny - The actual benny was nice. The potatoes could've been much better as they resembled more cafeteria style hashbrowns. I think what we can take away from this experience is that the food was reasonably good, but not $23 per plate good. For $23, I expect more culinary skill. I mean it's eggs and toast. The service - Unprofessional. Not that she was bad. No, actually she was very friendly. Unprofessional as in ....she was not professionally trained. forgetting details of the order we asked for. I'm guessing they told her....well....bring them coffee, take the order, bring them their food and give them the bill. That she did and she was very friendly. I don't tip unless it's earned. With her, I could see she was trying. It was obvious, and she was going it with a smile. That was enough for me.
I love going to De Dutch in Coquitlam! The food is always delicious, especially their pannekoeken. My favorite is the Strawberry and Whipped cream for a sweet treat, but the Turkey Bacon and Cheese is great if you want something savory. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the manager always makes sure everyone is having a great experience. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming vibe. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a tasty meal.
Hadn't been here for over 10 years. Always to the competition across the road but we were pleasantly surprised. Nice renovations and the service was so friendly. The "other" place shrunk their portion sizes since covid but DeDutch has generous helpings. And with a decent sized pot of tea. They also have a point system going on now too. Atmosphere is more calm. Great way to enjoy an unhurried breakfast.
Came here for brunch, was craving a good crepe and boy did they deliver! Crepes were light, filled plenty, great ingredients and delicious! I ordered a cheeky baileys coffee which was somewhat a disappointment, it was very watery, had no whipped cream on top, and lacked coffee taste. It seemed very watered down. But then I ordered an espresso martinis and that was perfect! I should’ve started with it! Staff are friendly, attentive, they repeated our order back to us to make sure our modified order was correct and brought our food promptly. Overall it was a good experience. I particularly liked the solarium dining area as you could enjoy the warmth of the sun without feeling the chill of the wind. They also have an outdoor patio for warmer months.
I was there last Saturday to enjoy my free bday treat. The food was good as always, but what made this a 5 star location was the service. Reina (I believe that was her name) was so friendly, very smiley... She was just amazing! She deserves all the tips!
The place was nice and clean and the staff were all very friendly. It’s a bit more expensive than I remembered and I don’t think that the food necessarily reflected the final bill. Regardless, their breakfast was still hearty and the potatoes were pretty tasty. I also liked their da bacon and the ham. I was a bit disappointed that the hot chocolate was just a generic hot chocolate mix with water, but the coffee was pretty good! It was a decent place to eat but I think there are other restaurants that are more bang for your buck.
Used to love this place. Unfortunately just had a horrible experience. Walked in, no wait straight to our table where we proceeded to wait 10-15min while several servers walked past. Had to ask the hostess to please identify our server. The manager came, and said our server was busy with a bigger table. The manager took our order and brought our drinks, and then after 40minutes of sitting and waiting with hungry children we were told it would be an additional 10 minutes as there were 2 orders ahead of us. Left hungry. Won t be returning. Oh, and we still don t know who our actual server was.
The service is always excellent but food quality at this location has gone downhill; wondering if theyve changed owners or cooks; twice in the last couple of months our pannekoeks were served to our table burnt; makes for a dry pannekoek & burnt taste.
Went there on Sunday. We waited 35 minutes for our food to come after ordering. There was a piece of hair on my toast and the lady took 10 minutes bring me new ones by which time my eggs were cold. She did say sorry which made things so much better. Stay the hell away. You get better value from Dennys or even IHOP.
Busy Saturday morning food was delicious and server was great! Hosts were very friendly. Will be back!
Best breakfast in town
1 server working for 13 tables with customers is unacceptable. I feel sorry for the poor person running around.
The menu here is very consistent .. year over years. Exactly as I remember from years ago. And something unique if you have not been before. I remember it being very crowded but today not. A good experience .. Im not into it like I was but still worthwhile.
Service and food were both great!
It is a really great place to have a meal the service is great the food is better and the atmosphere is beautiful my only complaint is that it took a little while to prepare the food .You have to try it.
My group of 8 came to de Dutch on Sunday July 7, for a late breakfast. We were given the separate room which was nice, the only nice thing that really happened in our visit. The food was terribly slow, took about 25 minutes to come out and when it did come out 4 people got their food, meanwhile the other 4 people waited 14 additional minutes to receive theirs, and multiple people ordered the same thing yet somehow they waited much longer. To make it worse, 2/4 people who d received their food late had their pannakoek fully raw in multiple places and sour tasting. After the food was finally delivered we also never were checked on for about 15 minutes so there was no way to even had them remade without waiting over an hour. Extremely disappointing given that we paid over $200 with an auto tip that was not deserved.
I would give higher, but the prices are ridiculous here. 7 dollars......7 DOLLARS for a glass of orange juice. Food
Legit service, great food. Parking: Plenty of spots Kid-friendliness: They love kids
Fine establishment with exceptional staff
If you are around this area, I absolutely recommend you to try this place.
Great place for meetings. Love the modern renovations. Will definitely go back.
Always a great time and good food, cute waitresses and they are always helpful and friendly.
We arrived a half hour before closing and the staff member who greeted us was clearly not interested in having us dine there. She was curt and dismissive so we decided to leave and fine somewhere more hospitable. Hugely disrespectful considering we have been going to the Coquitlam location for some time.
This Dutch restaurant is a gem! The atmosphere is very nice and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. The environment is clean and spacious, suitable for dining with friends or family gatherings. Every meal we ordered was amazing, delicious, generous portions, and the service staff was very friendly and attentive. I have visited many times and recommend it to everyone~!
Boers breakfast all the way. Best deal for the truckers breakfast of de dutch.
Good location and lots of parking. Beautiful seating area. Good food.
Pancakes are always good here.
Good restaurant for brunch. Strangely they ran out of the soup of the day around 11 30 with no intention of making another batch
Grilled cheese with ham...? 2 pieces dry white bread with uncentered melted mozzerella & a couple of slices of dried out ham thrown on top! Lol!
*updated review* The most accurate way I can describe DeDutch these days is Circling the drain The menus are old, they no longer get updated. The main staff members appear to all be gone, just managers/owners working most shifts. The place is empty at prime brunch times when everywhere else is full Honestly, its just so sad to see a place to used to love fall apart like this. They seemingly have no idea how to fix it and no clue what used to make them the most popular brunch place around. I wish them all the best to make some big changes to fix the place, but based on the last 5 years of constant decline I dont have my hopes high. I have been going to De Dutch as long as I can remember.... back on St. Johns where the bowling alley used to be originally, then this location for probably 15 years. Honestly since I was a kid I have went, and now bring my own kid. All I can say is what a shame. The prices go up constantly, but portions never do and quality never does. The service is insanely slow, even if there are only a few tables - you will get seated and continually wait 10+ min for a server. Then we can get into the eggs, never, ever get scrambled. You get the smallest portion of eggs imaginable, and if you want decent eggs you have to pay for free range - which is odd when every other breakfast place on the planet seems to have free range these days. I want to love DeDutch still, sometimes the food is OK, and the Pannekoek are still good, but the price is just so obscene. I dont know how anyone can justify it with so many other great options around. Went from a every-single-Sunday place to once every 6 months if we get the gift cards from Costco.
See Robin...
Has become our Sunday morning breakfast treat.
1 star because the hash was good. Not great, but still yummy. 4 stars docked because it took nearly an hour for my dish to come out and it also gave me the runs
Sat for 10m without even being acknowledged, and left.
Pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant here near Coquitlam center. The interior seems very new. Friendly service and the food was great. We weren t super hungry so we shared one order and they had no problem splitting the order for us. Hope to visit again.
The restaurant was spacious, clean and well decorated. The Hash was a good option for me as someone who wanted both savory and sweet.
Good food, nice staff! Coffee could be better but overall good experience.
Today I went and had chorizo bowl, it was delicious, felt very healthy and fresh. Service was good, staff was very friendly, the flowers on the tables were a nice touch it set the mood. Overall great experience.
The food is really good, but the service is horrible. It takes like over an hour to get your food. There are many better breakfast options than this.
Normally I enjoy De Dutch although I havent been in a while. This was terrible. We waited 45 min for our food only for it to come out cold to the touch and inedible. It was so cold I actually question the food safety requirements of the kitchen. I requested all entrees be taken off the bill - which they abiliged. But I wont be coming back. You expect more when paying $20+ a plate. The servers were trying their best but had 0 support from the kitchen and the manager blamed the server for the problems....not a good way to treat staff. **UPDATE De Dutch replied to my review (below) asking me to email them. Which I did and they ignored...performative customer service LOL the absolute worst.**
The service was poor and was about 45 minutes from the time we sat down until when we got our food. Ordered the pancake with peach/raspberry topping which was a waterd down disappointment...for 20+$ The croquette dish was also an overpriced let down, at least the fries that came with it where good
Everything was super! In particular, my waitress was very pleasant and did a great job. Ill definitely be back! Parking: Large free parking lot right outside the entrance door. Kid-friendliness: I would consider this restaurant to be kid-friendly as there are booths with some sound containment; however, I would not consider it a party area. Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance and restaurant is one level, right from the outside sidewalk. No stairs to be seen.
Absolutely horrible. Will never go here or to another De Dutch again. Went for a birthday brunch 6 people. Our food took almost 45minutes to come, and when i spoke to manager at end of meal she said this was normal. It was well past morning breakfast rush (we got our food at 1:30pm)! Burger was burnt thin frozen patty, they forgot the cheese. Very over priced. Server never asked how our food was and just brought bill without asking if we wanted anything else. Find somewhere else to go! Parking: Bit busy in strip mall.
Very clean and super attentive staff. The food quality was excellent, the ham, bacon and sausages were fantastic. A bit pricey, but worth it - you see it in the quality of the food and service.
Food was excellent and presented well. The staff took great care of us. I would recommend this for breakfast.
If you can avoid this play do so!. I dont know what happened during the time of covid but boy has it ever changed for the worse. Not only did they get my meal wrong but when did they start making eggs benedict with a fried egg... its always been a poached egg. We then had to wait over 20 minutes for our bill. We watched our waitress talk to a man for 10 minutes when she knew we had to leave. We then then asked another waitress for our waitress.! My husband stayed waiting for the bill at the front counter to which he had to ask again and it never arrived he finally just went to the car and was chased down by the manager saying he didnt pay his bill he said I tried! For 20 minutes! The manager then insulted me , said I was cranky . Which we then we left never to return. We used to love that place ...I dont know what happened to it. I assume there is New Management
My favourite ontbijt
Service was extremely slow. The place was not at full capacity and we could see servers walking up and down but ours was not very present. Our food came out at different times and my sons was cold. We had to ask the server a few time for anything before getting helped. Food was ok bit service definitely very bad.
Sadly our family experience was disappointing. Made reservations on May 3rd for Mothers day. We arrived they said they have No reservations for us. We booked in advance because there would be 10+ people. We arrived at 11am Took 30 minutes for our drinks. ( Simple order coffees, waters, ice- tea, three alcohol drinks) Then waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for our food. To top off our experience the food was disappointing. Spoke with the manager with respect and concern with whom only said sorry and walked away. Sorry De Dutch we will never be back. I dont recommend this restaurant
Very busy today as it was Victoria day but they handled it well, a small wait time but worth it!! The food was delicious and my server did a wonderful job. Definitely coming back. Kid-friendliness: My kids loved it!!
Heard about de Dutch from friends decided to come in on Victoria day. Place was packed but surprisingly got seated quickly. The service was friendly and quick. The food was hot and fresh. Only had to wait about 15 minutes for the food despite the restaurant being packed. Would highly recommend going.
The orange juice is really cool, delicious, the food was good too, but the service I could give it -5.
Truly enjoyed breakfast
We loved it, excellent customer service, thanks a lot
Ok so I order chicken fingers and fries for 20$ and what I got was a kid size happy meal fries and 4 bland chicken strips and you served me mustard for a dipping sauce ..... um excuse me who the heck has mustard with chicken fingers?.and 7$ for 2 coffees what are you people smoking??!
Fantastic service
Friendly servers with freshly prepared breakfast dishes, but my one and only disappointment was the prices that were tad bit high. Most of the dishes are just pancakes with a few Dutch pannenkoek options but with pretty much all the dish prices inching towards $20, having your breakfast here makes you feel on the fence if you are indeed getting ripped off.
Ive been coming for 10 years (at least) now, and while its always been a great experience, I am beyond impressed with the waitress this morning (7/27). The restaurant isnt super busy but there are more than a few tables, shes seating and hosting, and my service was impeccable. She was quick, checked in with me, and saw that I needed my cheque before I was even looking for her to grab it. Beyond impressive being she was the only one I saw on the floor. Thanks for a great breakfast
The quality of food and service has declined. Management needs to teach their staff how to cook. Only one waitress working the entire restaurant. Will stick with the New Westminster location.
$20 for breakfast with 1 slice of toast and frozen hashed browns? First and last time!
Atmosphere felt completely off as we entered, everyone was frowning as if they wanted to be anywhere else but here.. Food was cold, eggs weren t cooked properly, one medium poached which was great and one hard :( inconsistency among the entire dish. Service was lacking, other than being sat right away it ended there. Took 5 minutes until we were greeted, our server also didn t touch our table once after our food had arrived. She took our plates away, asked for our bills. She brought them out and walked away right after. No conversation at all. Very disappointed because the food at so much potential and truly the smallest adjustments would ve brought our experience from 2 stars to 5 easily.
We always enjoy the Dutch pancake way better than normal pancake. The summer drink flights I ordered was very expensive they were good though. Wish they were colder. Service was ok. It was pretty fast. The food was good. We don t mind coming back again.
The quality has gone to shoooot here . 0 star .....over priced garbage
Always great food and good service
The worst breakfast that I have ever had in my life, it was like hell, I ordered egg and bacon and it took over 20 mins to come and when it came the eggs were ice cold so I told them to worm it up and it took them about 10 mins again and than when they brought it there was a peace of hair in in my food, I m just still wondering how bad a restaurant could be.
We were 14 and the service was great! Friendly staff and food was on time too. We will be back for sure. Food
Delicious food...great service and it only took 25 mins to get our food...which isnt that long considering how busy the restaurant was! I had bacon n poached eggs and the eggs were cooked perfectly....we also had the boers breakfast which was delicious! Great service by waitresses chloe and riannon...we will definitely be back!
Great place! Excellent service. Chloe , our server was very attentive and always had a smile. The food was delicious and hot.
Nice place to enjoy your breakfast, love the type of pancakes, it is very filling, calm atmosphere, great services, not tip pushing waiters! Love it!
Quality food here! I m picky about my omelette and I hate when I can smell the Eggs, so well cooked Jesse is the best served.
I usually order the Pannekoeken (been going to De Dutch for 15 to 19 years) but decided to order the breakfast platter for the first time. I was shocked and disappointed because there was 1 slice of toast and all the other breakfast places I go have 2. The person at the table beside me had 2 so when the server came I asked why I was served 1 slice. She said I need to ask for 2 and there is no extra charge, free of charge. Why would I ask for a second slice when everywhere I go for breakfast serve 2 slices? There was no mention when I ordered and I thought 1 slice was not enough. It should be mentioned 1 slice unless requested. It will be awhile before I visit again for breakfast as I was not happy and disappointed and the cost has increased.
The staff here, being exclusively teenagers, seemed far more interested in using their phones than serving customers. Its sad because the food is decent but the service fell dead.
Wait to get a seat, wait to get served, over priced for what you Plenty of other great breakfast places around here
They took 45 mins to serve just a two slice of bread and two scrambled eggs..anyhow I cancelled the order..but the server has the audacity not to apologise too..
I found the staff very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and festive! The food was fantastic.
Was surprised, on a Sunday, it took almost an hour and a half to get our meal. As much as I want to make excuses for why, two tables that were bigger, and came in/ordered after us (us, a table for two), were served well before us. Food : 5/5
Slow service, had to repeat things, like needed sugar. Told waitress I needed sugar for my coffee, on the third time I told her, she finally brought it not so graciously. Wasnt even that busy...
Fresh squeezed orange juice! What more needs to be said. The food was great (I didnt like the hash browns because they changed them, but my husband did) great place for a low key breakfast.
It s a quiet place and very clean. Really recommended for having a good time in family or going alone. The service was really kind and the food delicious.
Had to wait as busy but meal and service always great
DeDutch has been a family favourite for MANY years. We have been coming here since I was a child. We continue to try and come back, but the rising prices make it a little more difficult. Fair enough though - inflation, etc. This last visit was very strange. It started out with being brought cream instead of milk for tea. Its fine. Happens. Then we finally got our food, which came with what looked like very, VERY small hollandaise containers. I hadnt been here in a while and thought my Hash Pannekoek came with it. When we got the bill, it turned out we had been charged for Mini Holly Sauce at $2.50 each. The size of the hollandaise sauce didnt seem to be worth $2.50 at all. I pointed it out to the server, saying I thought it came with the food since we didnt specifically order it, and she mentioned she put it there by accident. The bill was corrected thankfully, but only after I pointed it out. I was thinking to myself, how many people pay their bill without checking it thoroughly???. If its an honest mistake, fine, but it felt VERY specific since it inflated the bill by $5.00 (they charged for two as my moms pannekoek came with a tiny hollandaise container as well). Dont get me wrong - I will be back because that kitchen hot sauce is absolutely delicious. Just make sure to check your bill to avoid paying for things you didnt order. ;)
Over priced and bad service... No thanks
On a Tuesday afternoon ..... service super slow, the food took forever to cook. OMG
Luv De Dutch breakfast! So many different healthy choices to choose from.
The pancake and bacon are very nice. The waitress are very friendly and provided very good service. Overall, it is a different place for a different kind of breakfast!
Very quiet this morning. Young lady was an excellent waitress. Food was good. Nice decor.
Great service and delicious food
2 hrs waiting for food. Not impressed.
Lovely hostesses and waitresses. Clean and pleasant environment. But the breakfast is a meh! The eggs are small size (I worked in egg industry before. Well, you dont even need to work in egg industry to notice this) which is ok but they still charge you the same price as Dennys and White Spot which serve large and x-large size eggs. Its ok to serve small size eggs. Its enough. But adjust your price accordingly please. The coffee was a pure junk. It looked and tasted and smelled like instant coffee. Well, in fact tasted and smelled like nothing. $3.3 for that coffee? Of course, its free refill. But why would I want to have the second cup of that junk? It doesnt have to be anything fancy. A tub of the cheapest coffee on Amazon or in Costco is $10/kg (free shipping) and you know how many pots of coffee it gives you? And they all taste better than your instant coffee. I regularly buy them. Do you guys really brew real coffee beans? Honestly? Anyway, it was my first time at De Dutch but I wont go back there. I will go back to Dennys (within 15 mins drive) and White Spot (across the street). My Response to your response, May 12 2022. 1) Egg: you either dont know cage-free doesnt mean anything or you pretend you dont know. Either way, its misleading. So I am going to educate your customer. The cage-free chickens can still be cramped in a barn with no space to move and they will never go outdoors. 2) Coffee: you still didnt answer my question. Do you brew actual coffee beans/ground or you use instant coffee?
A bit on a pricey side. The meals are good (not perfect though), but they dont justify the bill.
Honestly just unfortunate for the people that eat at IHOP across the street
Recently went to this restaurant and had a decent time there. The food tasted okay but was overpriced. The staff were attentive and the restaurant had lots of seats and was very clean. Overall I thought it was an okay meal but wouldn t be in a rush to come back.
Been here for 30 minutes still havent got my order and when my order came an hour later came cold and scrambled eggs were bland with no cheddar cheese and sausage was like rubber I could of thrown it against the wall and it would bounce back I only got one cup of coffee they never came around for refill. staff has no experience and the cook cant cook they cant handle the food and people skills they need experienced staff Im disappointed in this place it is going downhill. I wont be attending this location ever again
I don t usualy leave reviews ever, nor am I complainer. I m pretty disappointed, de dutch is one of my favorite breakfast place and this location is so unproffesional. The service is terrible and I am celiac I ask for a gluten free panekeok and the server gave me one with gluten. I am going to be so sick because of this servers carelessness and she denied that the manager was there to my husband, I found out shortly later the manager was there and when I spoke to the manager she was not anymore caring and understanding then the server. My husband also still had to pay lol very disappointed. Shame on them! they are a restaurant!! dietary restrictions need to be takin seriously. Common sense
A menu that one wants one of everything.
First time I have been there, service was excellent and food order was very fast and delicious. I definitely will be going back.
I enjoyed that apart of the sides options, you can choose things such as fruit bowl and half an avocado (avocado in picture came with omelette). Definitely a bit pricey for breakfast. Nice atmosphere.
Worst service ever. The restaurant was not even half full and the service is really slow. I waited 40 minutes for my meal. No cutlery no water no ketchup nothing. I just got the food and the waitress never came back. The food is so overpriced and tastes just like ihop. Never coming back.
Has browns where not Fried, avocado wasn t ripe, toast was barely toasted overall very disappointing food.
Very disappointed, its been 1 h and a half to get my breakfast. never again here
hash browns were raw and felt sick. Eggs were gross. Unseasoned, worst breakfast ever
Nice clean place and friendly staff. It wasnt busy but the food took maybe a little to long.
Gross is the best word to describe this place. I had low expectations as I knew this was a greasy spoon, but everything was bad. The only flavour the food had was grease. A extra order of hollandaise sauce comes in a tiny dip cup. Service was bad, not busy at all but the server was slow and lazy.
TERRIBLE SERVICE. thinking grab a quick breakfast before catch a ferry, turn out to be a two hours breakfast. We have 5 people got to the restaurant 8:40am more than half the restaurant is empty, still made us waited 20 mins for a table. Ordered two hot chocolates and two coffees all the drinks was not hot, asked cream for coffee never came. After eating we waited 15 minutes for our server for the bill but she never came back had to asked a different server for our bill and got charged for two extra drinks. Never go back to this location.
Two hours from the time we entered to the time we got our bill. Food was cold. Service was non-existent. Overpriced. Will not be coming back here.
Great to be back..and had an enjoyable brunch on the patio so we could have our little Dixie with us nearby. Good coffee and omelets.. tho the few bees were pestering us..we did enjoy our meal and service. Glad to see DeDutch is up and running. A mainstay in the mainland.
I went in with my colleagues the service was very bad we were waiting for half an hour for them to take our order the food was not good and the fruits were not fresh and were rotten.
First time visiting the De dutch for brunch. Not at all disappointed. I like the interior. The omelette I ordered was delicious. I was so full after it for the rest of the day
I had the Benedict with ham, hashbrowns and fruit. It was so good. Good price too. Great service
Been coming here on and off for a couple of years. Nice place to come for breakfast, however this last visit has been an awful experience. The wife likes the food but the service is horrible. Waitress forgot our order. Including Condiments, cutlery and coffee refills. Thinking this is my last visit .
Delicious food great service.
Good food but quite expensive. The servers always seem unhappy here
1 star is far too kind. I am very fair and honest in my review. Hadnt been in a while, and I think we will keep it that way. I will also advise others to maybe also wait before visiting. For the price of the meal there are so many other options out there, this should be at the bottom of your list. Poor service, poor food, expensive. Id choose to skip a meal rather than what I experienced. Even when told that their food is unsatisfactory, we were told itd be a lifetime before a new one would come - not much of a solution for anyone with a 2 year old. Nothing else was done about our dissatisfaction. Youd think when we contacted their main office they would be okay with offering something - guess again. Poor customer service from all sides of the business. Its disappointing to see that in 2022, its the customers fault when the restaurant has poor service and their food is old cold and tastes terrible.
Very good food. The customer service has always been good. The only complaint I have is the food can take a bit of time to arrive, but nothing crazy.
Brunch is okay here easy on the stomach. Knocked one star off because the coffee was quite bad. Other than that the food is quality the service is excellent the atmosphere is four out of five food is a little on the pricier side for a somewhat simplistic menu. Overall Id rate it to come and check it out. itd be bit pricier but the food is quality.
The front door staff were great. We waited about 10 to 12 minutes to be greeted by a server, once she greeted us, she was good, her over the top care made up for our experience. The food was unsatisfying and terribly over priced. The Panekoken I received, the batter was bitter(?) i ordered the plain one with cheese. My partners ordered a regular breakfast with a side of chorizo. Outside of the eggs and bacon, his breakfast was not made to satisfaction. The potatoes were under cooked, it was like eating crisp apples and the chorizo sausage tasted off. The fruit that came with our meal looked previously frozen, it was limp and dark in colour. We paid over 60$ (tip included) without ordering a drink, and my partner left hungry. I would not recommend coming here if you re a family with children, it will break the bank and you ll leave unhappy.
My favourite pancakes. Service was great and everyone friendly especially my server Daman.
My son and I had breakfast here and food was delicious and services was heartwarming
De Dutch is an amazing restaurant. The pancakes or pannekoekens as they call them, are out of this world. They are large, thinner than a typical pancake and they are oh so good. I had a breakfast/lunch type of meal which had meat, eggs, hollandaise sauce and potatoes. Great atmosphere and service too!
I went to this establishment on a Monday morning with 14 of my friends .... We had been to Mike Farnworths constituency office to try to discuss some issues with him or his staff concerning the lockdown situation and quarantine camps .... Him and his staff had taken the day off apparently and were not there ... We went to De Dutch to have breakfast ... several of us had mask exemptions which the young female staff would not Honour .... finally they called the police .... What could have been a profitable exchange for the restaurant turned into an uncomfortable standoff between us and the RCMP who had no laws to enforce but had been instructed to play along with the 20 year old wanna be tyrants .... During and before we were there ,,, they had a total of two customers .... Congratulations Dutch pancake house .... I will not be frequenting your locations any more .... You are safe !!!
The food was good. The customer service needs to improve. I wont be going back.
Always great food here and the staff are very friendly. Would prefer to have the music turned down a bit but thats just my opinion.
Used to be a big fan of this place but last couple of times it didn t live up to it. Last time the waitress was really nice as always but the portion was sad, I had an omelet and 3 sides which was almost finished by the time they returned with the hot sauce.
cook needs to learn how to actually cook the food. especially if its a pannekoek thats youre paying $20 for and its doughy and cant cut. eggs benny asked for medium and if i had asked for soft the eggs would still be UNDER cooked. potatoes... burnt but still hard... not sure if the cook is drunk or just needs a cooking lesson. only thing that wasnt messed up was the fruit but even the orange slice was dried out
Disgusting! Do NOT go here!!! Everything we ordered was UNDERcooked!!
Food excellent. Prices astronomical. Split a breakfast and 2 coffees $40 with a tip.
Delicious!
Bit disappointing, food was burnt on one side and undercooked on the other, french press coffee full of grounds in the cup. Thankfully service was great.
nice place ordered midteranian omlete ( the mushroom was not cooked enough it felt raw ) ,the rest of the meal was good ( potatos, toast, fruit salad )
I dont know when Eggs Benedict has fried eggs instead of poached eggs, but the last two times weve ordered thats what weve received. Figured the first time was a mistake, but in future I will be making a request to have it poached. Other than that, food is expensive but good, especially as I dont have other options within walking distance.
Love the food. Wish they could offer non dairy. & no gluten or no wheat
We ate outside and the service was excellent.
I will give them the 5 stars because almost all the food and service was amazing but the French toast I was a little disappointed...but I did really recommend this place over All and definitely I would come back over and over.
Food is very Good 8/10 The service was amazing as well 10/10 Maybe the price is a bit too expensive 6/10 but the portions are quite big. Not a bad place and they have PATIO
Great breakfast, unfortunately due to covid the inside dining was closed. One thing they could improve on is some outdoor heating for the patio as it was quite cold, but all I all, a great time.
Got one of their omlettes and it was one of the best Ive ever had. Their fruit salad is FRESH. Its a bit pricey, but worth every penny. Service was amazing.
They have a lovely little patio! I went for Breakfast with my Husband two weeks ago, and the food was delicious (we ordered the fresh orange juice too - yum!!). The server working was so friendly and efficient - I noticed she was the only one working front of house and she did a spectacular job! Will definitely be back.
I used to go to the one on Cambie & 17th in Vancouver back in 1976. Still taste great & service are very friendly.
I had a nice breakfast there
Lovely patio
Good food, would recommend
The service is usually a bit slow but food has been consistent.
Great food and service
Nice people and food. Everything was delicious and fresh. 1 star short because it was a bit slow then usual. Not sure why it taking so long to bring food to the table, and no, it was not a busy morning.
I have not had pancakes at a restaurant in YEARS! What a treat to be able to go to De Dutch with my Celiac friends and eat pancakes like a regular diet person.
Slowest service ever for a $20 pancake. Took over an hour to get a plain pannekoeken after half an hour waiting just to place our order. Service was terrible - avoid coming here at all costs until they figure their business out.
We have enjoyed Dedutch in the past, but this morning was so disappointing. It took 1.5 hours for us to recieve our food. We never got refills on our drinks during that entire time. And only received 2 small syrup cups for 4 pannoek breakfasts. We never saw our waitress except to take our order, then eventually deliver our food. We had to ask for condiments to be brought out before our food arrived so we could just eat once we finally got our food. If the kitchen is lacking cooks, they should never have opened all the tables in the restaurant. We will no longer be dining here.
Meh. Was ok. Not with thr price
Edit2: the waitresses have been AMAZING and so kind and helpful to correct the mistakes (Anna in particular). It seems the issues were because of on rotten apple in the bunch that lied through her teeth with a big friendly smile it happens, but we re happy everything has been settled and we re looking forward to many more pannenkoeken! (email has never been replied to though so only 4 stars ) Edit: we have sent an email almost a week ago but no response whatsoever (we would have appreciated if emails were answered as quickly as reviews). Our server informed us that it was a management decision to reduce the size of the pannenkoek by half, while you here claim you didn t change the size, yet also didn t offer to compensate for receiving half a meal (we had been coming every week so we do know what the portion size is supposed/used to be). Something here doesn t add up and this experience is going from unpleasant to worse. Original review: The staff is always super nice and sweet, but the recent decision to make the pancakes half size for the same price, makes it just an expensive snack I d rather pay a little more for a full size pannenkoeken, than leave feeling hungry. We used to come here every week for a fun breakfast, but I guess will have to stop until they start serving meals again. Makes me sad as it was always a pleasant experience.
Always great! I enjoy the De Boers breakfast. Having the side panekoek is awesome. I would recommend a side of their salad dressing to pour over your hashbrowns.
Waited about 45 minutes after ordering.
Good breakfast/brunch place. Little more expensive than Coras or Tutti Frutti, but the foods good and the atmosphere is nice.
Good chow and friendly staff and service
The meat lover pannekoek was amazing as usual. Also got the chicken scramble with avocado, which was.. interesting. Finished it off with a classic pannekoek with Nutella. So stuffed! But worth it!
Tasty brunch and excellent service. A good stop for food.
We just had a wonderful experience at De Dutch. Our server Anna was amazing. She was extremely busy but never lacked in her customer service. Thank you Anna.
Very good food!
Always a good meal with a smile. And nice clean bathrooms!
Clean friendly place. Maybe short on staff but attentive. Great food quickly delivered
Nobody wore masks except the customers :(
Food was delicious. Service was spot on.
Friendly staff but the food was very basic, not so much flavour. Kids burger was bad.
Always great
I like it here
This review ia to boast about our server Emma. Weve been served by her twice and both times she was delightful. Thanks Emma for taking care of us. Give her a raise De Dutch management.
They have a wide selection of breakfast on their menu, and freshly squeezed orange juice which is so refreshing! My mother in law was gluten intolerant and they had an amazing selection too!
If you are looking for a real Dutch food experience, here is the place Very consistent in quality and service for the last 5 years I have been visiting
Geeat service, nice atmosohere good food.
For the past couple of week the crape was so big it fits right through my big mouth so good thanks
Got rid of Dutch toasties. I m truly let down
Recently renovated. Very quiet. Nice atmosphere.
Kind, welcoming staff and quick service. The restaurant is clean and they uphold COVID protocol. Lots of menu options, but it almost makes it difficult to choose what to eat! Worth it though
Awesome, so.great for family breakfast
