My family went to this restaurant food was good. The service is great compared to similar restaurants from the neighbourhood. Our family will be going back!

I don t like saying anything bad about food. I ordered pick so I didn t experience the service or the atmosphere. But the food was way below average. It was very oily and had very little flavor. Even the fried rice, the bottom of the container was full of oil. Sorry but couldn t eat most of the food.

Newly renovated interior brings the dim sum experience to another whole level! Their interior looks very similar to Yan s Garden by Lougheed Mall (I wonder if it s the same owner). The staff are friendly and the restaurant has a quiet atmosphere during the weekdays. Perfect for a family occasion and better if you have little ones.

August 2024 - I miss Rainbow Butterfly. Enough said. November 2024 - tried again, sweet and sour pork was better than expected. Still wouldnt buy it often since I dont like pork. Mushroom soft chow mein was disgusting.. smelt bad, and literal chunks of salt in it.. so gross. Wish they would make their sweet and sour chicken like how Rainbow Butterfly made theirs. The chicken balls version is gross.

First time visiting. We ordered All Day Dim Sum, which tasted amazing, made fresh and hot. Dining room is very clean and staff is friendly, without being intrusive. Will definitely visit again.

I ordered delivery, and one of the items was a beef soup. The portion was ridiculously small same price as dining in, but only about a third of the usual amount. On top of that, the other dishes were just mediocre.

Excellent fresh food

Fresh and good quality food. Looks expensive at first but the portions are massive. For me anyways. Clean and nicely designed interior and the clientele is mostly Chinese so that is always a good sign of quality Chinese food.

At one time Dim Sum was an affordable way to dine with large groups of friends and family. However, following Covid it has now become an expensive endeavor with prices more than doubling from pre-pandemic levels. To add insult to injury, the quality of the food also took a slide with smaller portions and dubious quality and dont even talk about what passes for service. My wife and I had dim sum at Yans House. Although the prices were still on the high side (average about $8.50 per dish), the quality was spot on. The sui miu were fairly large with good flavor, the prawn rice rolls had actual prawns in them and and the sticky rice was full of meat. The service was very good as well with friendly and attentive servers. This will be our go to dim sum place going forward.

They just open on Friday Jun 07,2024 and we went on Sunday, it was quite busy. The place has been updated and it was nice and clean. Foods are good unfortunately they forgot one of our order.

I never do reviews but this was unacceptable. We ordered it for delivery last night. Sky Dragon is our go to place but there phone line kept giving is a busy signals so we tried this place. I have never had to throw out Chinese food before. Spring rolls very greasy, not edible. The noodles were nasty and smelled bad, the mixed vegetables were slimy. The dumings looked wierd but tastes ok. It wasnt a good experience at all. The rice was the only thing we could eat. All 4 of my family members agreed. Spent over $100. Will definitely not order from there again. Im sorry but to the owners quality matters. Trust me I never do reviews. For the sake of your business and future please look into this or your doors will be closing soon. Im sorry for th3 bad review but Im hoping this could help your future in port Coquitlam.

Ordered ribs with peppery salt but got sweet garlic ribs instead. Chicken was not fresh two people who ate the chicken dish got sick.

Omg....this place is the bomb!! I have eaten in A LOT of Chinese food in many countries. BUT This was the best!!!! The staff were fabulous and explained the many choices on the menu. I am almost wanting to not review so the place doesnt get too busy and I can always get a seat. lol lol I have enough leftovers to feed about 4 people tomorrow for dinner!!!!!!

I tried the lobster meal last night and it was not very tasty. Only the lobster was slightly better. Sanhe ordered the chicken drizzled with green onion and oil. There was no green onion or oil. There was only a big glass of gravy. Okay, the chicken was meaty, and I also ordered fried shrimp balls with broccoli. The broccoli was uncooked, and the shrimp was uncooked. I only saw some black juice drizzled on the shrimp and broccoli, and there was no glass at all. Well, there is a Bazhen tofu pot, which should be called Tofu Bazhen pot. The tofu takes up half of the pot. It is big and old. The juice is black and has no taste. The tea is like a food stall. If the glue is The food on the pot was so bland and not hot. After eating it, I couldn t even eat it.

This is a new branch of Yan s Garden in Lougheed. The food is even better. Perfect replacement of Kam Ding that was closed recently.

We were visiting the area with friends & decided to eat dinner at this chinese restaurant. The food was really, really good! One of the best ones weve dined at so far. The portion was more than expected which we loved. Highly recommend! I will definitely be back with my family.

This place is better than the old one on North Road. The food quality was pretty good. The service was very fast. Also the food portion in today s standard has exceeded the expectations. Keep up the good work guys~

Generous portions but bland.

The service is so rude here. A few waiters looked at us when we arrived but no one greeted us until we asked for help after waiting at the door a few minutes. Then after we sat down an older chinese man (seemed to be the manager) pushed a chair into my leg while he was rearranging another table. He didn t even apologise. We left without ordering anything and no one asked us why we were leaving.

The restaurant was packed when I went to pick up my order and I can see why. I ordered the dinner for 1a combination and the wonton soup. You can tell the food is extremely fresh and made in house not prepared from frozen, also the portion sizes are huge and more than enough to allow for leftovers. Food : 5/5

The food was awful. The only taste was salt. Its the worst Chinese restaurant in the tri-cities for dinner. Cheapest ingredients at outrageous prices. 29 Jul 2024 Celebrated a friends birthday today. Very good food, reasonable pricing, free Chinese tea (some Dim Sum restaurants charge for tea), friendly and fast service, newly renovated under new owner from Hong Kong. Manager, Jenny was very welcoming and pleasant. Definitely recommend if you want good dim sum with good service, comfortable and clean, easy parking.

It was 27°C today when I started my walk, fairly warm and no mood to accomplish anything. Therefore went to Yum Cha at Yans House in PoCo, which was formerly The Rainbow Butterfly ( ). The place is changed hands in June, has been renovated, the utensils are new. We ordered 1). Beef Brisket soup noodle - The soup is very clear, and if added a little bit of beef brisket juice, i.e. ( ) it will be perfect. 2). Pan fried coconut cake. I like the chewy texture, very light coconut flavour, not oily nor greasy. 3). Ran fried rice rolls with BBQ pork. Disappointing, probably they dont have the traditional dim sum master ( ), and this dish is simply stir-fry some ready made bbq pork with some ready made rice rolls (like Hans) added some soya sauce with corn starch i.e. ( ). Parking: The parking lot is co-sharing with other businessess in the this mall. Wheelchair accessibility: Available.

If I could give a ZERO STAR REVIEW, I would!!! 5 adults, 2 children we called at 8:10pm asking if it was OK to come in but we were a 15 min walk away, at 1st he said well try, to which we said sorry we need ro know otherwise we wont come, he then replied OK YES COME. We literally SPEED WALKED with our kids and made it in 12 minutes, showed up at the door and they said no service. I explained we just called to ask and the male said it OK come, and he said No you didnt call. No one said that. Theyve lied to us on the phone, and in person, EXTREMELY RUDE!!!!!!!!!!! No need for that when we hustled with our kids. They shouldve said NO but they didnt and gave us hope and WASTED OUR time!!!! I even offered that we would ORDWR THE FOOD AND TAKE AWAY and still NO!!! WILL NEVER RWTURN HERE AGAIN, why would you waste service and be so extremely rude when we were not and being so excited and hopeful for a new restaurant!!!! TERRIBLE SERVICE

Excellent dim sum. Traditional dim sum is tasty and perfect. Ive never heard of the baked BBQ pork & unagi pastry, but I was super surprised at how good it is! Would most definitely recommend Yans House. We cant wait to go back.

Saw the reviews wanting to try. Went in at 8:10 pm. The owner refused to seat us for a party of five he then told us to leave as they lock the doors at 9 pm sharp. The sushi next was more accomodating. We ate dinner and left at 9:05pm

Liked the Budha Feast best, Ginger beef was good, chowmein too, Honey garlic spareribs were just sweet, no garlic at all, very bland. everything fresh and hot. Vegetarian options: delicious Buddha Feast, Chowmein noodles

We tried dim sum for first time there yesterday. Really really good. Fast friendly service. Even their tea in the nice big white teapots was delicious. Decor is modern, washrooms clean.

Walked in just after 8:30 wanting a single takeout order of noodles after a shitty day and was refused service because they were closed (door said 9.) if it was 850-855 I understand but 20mins before close for one takeout order? The host was also full-on eating when she was talking to us.

Updated: owner pls note the last paragraph. We had dinner at this place. The food was bad but service was good. We had Peking duck. portion was small. The fried duck with lettuce wrap was extremely salty. Deep fried chicken fillet was starchy. The shrimps in Sour and spicy soup were rotten. Two dishes of veggie were oily. Deep fried pork chop was tasteless. The only good dish was Soy sauce fried noodles. The staff gave us a wrong dish and insisted it s what we ve ordered. After a while, she realised that it s wrong and took it. Passed it back to the table behind us. So, that customers ate what we ve ate. mango pudding was just a yellow pudding without taste of mango. it s a disappointing dinner and I won t go again for sure. Again, their staffs are attentive and polite. One more point worth to note is: there were lots of flies (not one or two) flying around our table while we were having our dinner. There s one even flied into our food. That s disgusting. Our kids refused to eat after that. I cannot imagine how can a restaurant did not do any insects control. We did not report to any regulatory body this time. However, as the shop owner should ensure this would not happen again.

With our previous positive experience at Yan s Garden at North Road, we thought we would give this restaurant a try. Unfortunately, the dimsum was not very fresh. It seemed like it was either previously frozen or reheated . The skin of siumai slipped off and was lying in a mushy heap at the the bottom of the bamboo basket. Each item we tried was far below standard of what we are used to eating in the Lower Mainland. For the price the you are paying you can find tons of other dimsum joints that offer good portions and high quality dimsum.

Very low end. Does not deserve 4.8 stars. Sweet and sour pork really really just fat. Portions small. This is some of the worst Chinese I have ever had.

Same great food we have long enjoyed at Yan s Garden, at the new location. Dim sum by direct-order. Like all restaurants the price has been subject to heavy inflation, but value is on par with other restaurants and the quality is better.

The restaurant is under new ownership. We came for lunch. Decor is refreshed and layout is open. Prices are reasonable and portions are above average. Happy to see they retained a few of the previous staff. We always feel welcome when we come and we will be back.

I order a delivery when I call at 530pm. Told me no driver pick it up at 630pm. Agreed. Went there 630pm and waited 30 minutes more. They keep on giving someone else order. People who come in restaurant got their food while I was waiting. Found chip glass plate in the halibut with soy. This is the ex rainbow butterfly owner. Who change the decor and try to bring in a new menu.. Give it time it will be the same as before. Crap!

I ordered sui mai , hargou and ham sui gok . The ham sui gok arrived first and was a bit overcooked , feedback to the kitchen would be to reduce cooking time on ham sui gok . they werent split open from heat which means you applied the correct amount of heat but for too long . The bamboo baskets were brand new and some flavour traveled onto the product but thats fine. Oil your bamboo baskets so they last longer, give a darker color to the bamboo and are easier to maintain. Good portion sizes overall.

Ordered congee and wonton noodles. The food was meh. Wonton noodles soup base and noodles were really bad. Congee was ok kind of like how you would cook it at home, but didnt have that congee taste you get from restaurants. Veges and fried noodles were too salty and too much msg. Tasted like westernized chinese food tbh, which wasnt what we were looking for. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing idk.. service was good and price is decent, so 3 stars.

As a business owner, we understand how challenging it is to run a business, so we strive to support our local enterprises. Recently, Yan s House opened, and we have visited four times over the past few weeks, enjoying their Dim Sum and dinners. Acknowledging that mistakes are common during a soft opening, we didnt complain when our first dinner for two order was incorrect. The dinner specials menu lists prices, soup options, and dish descriptions with corresponding numbers, but does not show individual dish prices. Customers can choose two items for a dinner for two, four items for a dinner for four, and so on. Today, we dined there again, ordering from the dinner for two menu and specifying the dish numbers and names. Realizing we had forgotten to order the soup included in the dinner for two, I informed one of the waitresses. When our meals arrived, the waitress asked if we needed rice, and I requested just one bowl to avoid wasting food. When we were ready to leave, I went to the restroom while my wife paid. Afterward, she told me we were charged $3 for the bowl of rice, and the total was about $62 with GST. I mentioned that rice is included with the dinner special, and our previous visits cost around $51 with GST. We returned to discuss the error with the staff. They explained that because we didnt specify the dinner for two, we were charged separately for the soup and rice, resulting in a higher total. Despite ordering from the dinner combination menu and clearly stating the item numbers, the staff insisted it was our fault for not explicitly saying dinner for two. The person who took our order refused to correct the mistake, even though individual dish prices werent listed on the special menu where we ordered from. A waitress, not the staff who took our order, apologized, but we assured her it wasnt necessary for her to as we decided not to ever return. Were very disappointed with the service and their unwillingness to correct the error. While its a minor financial issue, we will not visit Yan s House again and advise others to clearly specify their order and check their bills before paying.

Check your bill carefully. They overcharged us.

We tried the new Yans House (formerly Rainbow Butterfly) Restaurant for dinner last night and enjoyed the refreshed decor--the whole-wall mural was tasteful and impressive. They have a limited selection of all-day dim sum and the Dried-Scallop & Shrimp Shiu Mai was quite good, although we did have to ask for it to be re-steamed due to the middle being initially undercooked. The Beef Tenderloin with Mushroom on Teppan had good flavour, crispy snap peas and plenty of fresh mushrooms. The Buddhas Feast was rich with several varieties of mushrooms and lots of broccoli, although the roux was a bit oily. The Braised Yee-Mein with Seafood was reasonable, with lots of shrimp, some small scallops and morcels of fish. The food had little or no MSG and was seasoned just right, and the presentation was good on melamine dishes imprinted with the Yans House logo. They have plenty of (very-busy) servers, and the food orders come quickly after ordering. We will return, perhaps next time asking if the chef can make the food less greasy.

This restaurant used to be butterfly rainbow restaurant but now change different name. Not much dim sum selections and the dim sum quality just ok and price is a bit expensive.

This restaurant is under new ownership. The renovation looks beautiful inside - nice, modern, bright. The staff is relatively friendly. The food is alright. Some of the dishes were a bit on the salty side and missing the wok hei. Havent tried dim sum yet there. Tried the Peking duck 2 ways, beef brocolli, fish and tofu hot pot, sweet and sour pork chops.

ordered dinner for 4 - take out version (B). almond chicken was very, very tough, tasteless and lacked almond !! I could hardly put my fork through it and it was tough to cut. The sweet and sour pork was half vegetables and half port. Otherwise the others were good.

Dim Sum is also served all day but some items may not be available during the evening. Best surprise is seeing Steven and Jenny from Rainbow Butterfly working here.

Honestly, this place is so good had the $128 lobster combo w/ any 3 mix/match dishes included, plus rice and dessert. The food was really good except for the fish fillet tofu hot pot, that one was only ok. But the minced pork green beans, soup, lobster, curry, and wontons were top notch. Also the service was so good! It s very uncommon for a Chinese restaurant to have great service so my dad and I were very pleasantly surprised. We can t wait to come back!

From America visiting, saw that there s a lot of Chinese food here and happened to stumble upon this one. Servers are nice and the portions are bigger than the states and prices are amazing especially with the portions. The restaurant too is very nice and clean and I definitely recommend everyone to come! I ll definitely be back when I return here to Canada if they re still around which I m sure they will be if they keep this standard.

Spring rolls were greasy Almond chicken was tough and tasted like it was precooked and heated up and was missing batter on 30%. Beef and snow peas had very little flavor. Cod with peppery salt tasted precooked. Prawns with sweet and sour sauce were ok, but shrimp was small. Beef and broccoli were good with a hint of garlic. BBQ pork fried rice was good. Soft chicken chow mein was good as well. We will probably go back to our normal place when we order next time.
