Very yummy Dim sum place in Poco!

Came back for their king crab set menu dinner. Had the crab done 3 ways: steamed with garlic, deep fried and fried rice in curry. Also had fish with snap peas and Chinese-style fried chicken. Delicious as always. Came in on a Monday night so it wasnt busy at all. Staff is always friendly. This restaurant is a favorite of ours. Place was bumping because people were celebrating Mid Autumn Festival early but we had reserved a table in advance. We ordered the deep fried squid tentacles which was really good; not deeply battered. Also ordered gai lan with beef, fish with tofu claypot, see deep fried fish and quail. Size of the dishes was generous and food came really quick. Parking was a breeze because there are lots of spaces available. Definitely will come back and will try the dim sum next time.

Decent traditional dim sum.

The food was pretty good. Last month when we went, we had just taken our last bite and were hoping to have tea, but the staff cleared away our dishes and brought the bill right away. They stood nearby waiting for us to pay and leave so they could give the table to other guests. It didn t feel good at all.

I had gone in for a meal and I regret it!! The absolute worst service! Excessive wait time, very rude staff, they are way too aggressive to speak with. The management really needs to work on training the staff on being a lot more respectful and polite! The food tasted unfresh and stale.. the place was extremely dirty.. and at the end of all of it, its almost like they demand a tip, by repetitively saying, oh no tip, no tip, sure? The place needs to either shut down or hire trained staff and a better chef! The only thing good here is it was easy to find parking!

Overall the food was good, but the waiters were lacking.

Food was delicious especially the King crab cooked three ways. Service however was not good particularly one server who made a face when we asked for water as if it was such a big chore since we had to ask for it twice!!! Weve been here a few times and staff lack customer service, sometimes bordering on rude.

Went there 4 times in a row during our 1 week trip to Coquitlam the taste is as good as few years ago, that s why we kept coming back. Despite of obviously shorthanded situation, the owner and the waitress still tried their best to please their guests. Keep in mind that they will take a break between 3-5 pm which is normal for me, try to avoid going there during the said time.

Food was acceptable but not a very friendly environment. They really need to buck up with more pleasant service; they are no match with other dim sum places in the Tricity area. People dont mind paying more for a more pleasant experience!!

Food was good for being in the suburbs.

Extremely delicious. My favorite dish here is the chef s special Pan Fried Jumbo Prawns and Shanghai Rice Cake in Soy Sauce , and the beef or prawn or mushroom Rice Rolls with sweet soy sauce, the shrimp and chive dumplings (all the dumplings actually), beef balls in bean curd sheet - so many of their dim sum dishes are top notch!

Great Dim Sum

Food was delicious, service was slow due to being busy for lunch. Had to ask for water and sauces. It was pretty loud but it was appropriate for how busy it was. Better than rainbow butterfly . Parking: Lots of parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Appropriate wheelchair access. Accessable washroom.

We have been to a lot of Dim Sum restaurants over the years and this one probably comes in dead last. After all the hype about how good it is we were sorely disappointed

In the past, Donghai Restaurant was not of this level. Now there has been a big decline from ingredients to cooking methods. I ordered four dishes at noon, and there were really big problems with each dish. It was really too careless in doing business.

Been here for dimsum a few times. I like that I can order dimsum for dinner aswell To go if Im craving it at night. Never had much besides their dimsum and house special chow mein. It tastes a little bland but I added Chilli oil. Sui mai seems to be all pork fat and little to no shrimp. 10$ average per dimsum dish seems expensive.

The morning tea tasted very average, just like it had been cooked and heated up before. The management is also quite chaotic. When there are many people, there is no queuing mechanism. It s all about shouting.

We made reservations but still had to wait. Food was good however had a negative experience with the service. We were there for Mother s Day and they were giving a rose to every mom at the end of dining, which I thought was a nice touch. I am not Chinese, however my husband is and we were also out with his mom. When we paid, the server brought a rose out to my mil only. My children immediately pointed this out to me. When my Husband mentioned that she only brought one, she said oh our restaurant policy is one per table. This was not true as we had already witnessed multiple ones given per table. My issue is not that I didn t get a rose, my issue is being treated differently since I m not Chinese. There was also another mom of color, but not Chinese, who was not given one either. Very sad to see this kind of treatment from another person of color.

Theres not much that I could say other than this place is an absolute hidden gem. I had passed by this place several times on different occasions and never went it. I finally decided to try it out and wow, incredible. The restaurant is big and clean. The food is just amazing. Fresh assorted seafood (live lobster, king crab, clams). Friendly staff and great customer service. Second time going in and will be a repeat customer for years to come. I 100% recommend this restaurant.

It s Christmas Day. One of the server was very, extremely rude to my family and to my kids. I understand is was busy today but she almost threw the dishes to our table when serving. And blamed my kids. Other servers are okay, but this lady made me sick!

Best sago pudding(pie)! You have to call to preorder but is soooo good. If you compare to some expensive dim sum place, this might not be the best. But this is probably the best value (quality food for the reasonable price). Especially if you dont wanna go to Richmond! Recommended

Bad service. We called for a reservation and when we arrived they said they re not taking reservations and making people wait. Other customers were saying the same thing. Everyone s been waiting. Next time just say you don t take reservations and not waste people s time. It s not the best dimsum in town. Not recommended! *edit* based on the restaurant response. Staff needs to be trained proper customer service. There was no explanation at all. When we called, all she said was ok see you at 1 then hunged up right away. That person was rude. The servers were also yelling at each other. You need to update your definition of reservation and learn good customer service.

This is one of few restaurant keep dishes amount, quality, service and affordable under this high inflation time.

Easily one of the best Cantonese restaurants in all of the lower mainland. My family has been coming here for years and its quality and service has been unmatched. Its hard finding a restaurant that has authentic, and high quality Cantonese food, but also at a good price point. The portion size is also great too. Ive tried nearly all the Chinese restaurants out there and Eastern Pearl just hits different. The owners are especially nice towards us and always make us feel welcomed. Parking: Lots of parking and is very accessible.

Quick and simple food

We have the Alaska king crab dinner. It is so delicious. Service is very good, server is very attentive. Highly recommend. We are from Winnipeg and this restaurant is recommended by a local friend. No disappointment.

Delicious food. Missed an order but fixed it right away after we told them. Got someone elses dish and we were okay with it so asked them to add the dish to our bill. Overall experience was pretty good.

Service was slow, waitresses were rude, asked for a modification on one item and it wasn t done, Washrooms we re not cleaned properly, a juice box somehow is worth $4.75.. a can of coke is $3.

It is out of courtesy that I have rated this establishment with 2 stars, for their reasonable dim sum. But today during lunch the behaviour of the staff was atrocious. My sister asked for extra hot sauce and the server was, to put it mildly, very rude. This is supposed to be a restaurant, a place of service. Yet the server behaved as if we would consume the hot sauce supplies of the restaurant. Even if we have eaten more than normal, just approach us with courtesy and state that we will be charged for a bottle of hot sauce and place the bottle on the table. We are not asking for a handout, we are paying for our food. And we can surely pay for a bottle of hot sauce. If they are going to continue with this attitude, I think they are in the wrong business. If you do not have the fortitude between your legs to provide for your customers, then you should quit.

My wife and I go to various 4-5 Chinese restaurants all over the world. We live in the lower mainland and we find this to be an absolute five star quality seafood restaurant.. Bing, the most reasonably priced and large servings.

The lights are glaring and very uncomfortable. The distance between the seats and tables is too small and tight, so everyone can hear everyone talking. It feels very noisy. The food is average, but the service is not good. I got the wrong order and lack of snacks. Will not go again.

One of our favourite local place to go with friends and family for dim sum. It s almost always busy so reservation is a must. Lots of variety for tasty dim sum treats. Beef brisket with rice roll, XO sauce stir fry radish cake are just a couple of our must haves. We haven t tried all the dishes but all we have tried have been delicious.

I don t understand what s all the crying ( complaints) comments about . It s a Chinese dim-sum restaurant. If these people ever went back to China it would be the same or similar atmosphere. The food is good and service is fast . Better than most restaurants I go to, and I go to a lot of dim-sum restaurants . I go to this place at least 1-2 a month and never had an issue . I honestly prefer this place over Neptune , fortune city sea house etc

I went there after being recommended by a Chinese girl, and the dim sum and congee were good and not too salty, but the other foods were as expected greasy and noisy because it was crowded.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I made a reservation yesterday to dine in today and they didn t even save a seat for it and said there are no tables when I see a couple empty ones because it was for a bigger group. They said it s better to wait. Then what s the point of making a reservation if I was going to wait and they seated another team at an empty table without a reservation because it was for 7 people. What a joke their service is terrible

We went to this restaurant to celebrate my dad s 58th birthday and mother s day. At the end of our dinner/celebration after we paid the bill, One of the staff ruined our moment as she came to our table and asked why we didn t give a tip (in aggressive way). She s like WHY YOU DID NOT GIVE TIP ? So we handed her $25 cash just to prevent scene but still she wasn t happy and keep arguing with us As she wanted us to give her more. I was so disgusted with her behavior on how she aggressively approached us for a tip. Let me remind all the staff of this restaurant, TIPPING IS NOT COMPULSARY. We just spent $400 in one dinner just to give my parents a memorable birthday and mother s day in this restaurant. But the way she humillated us over tip in front of many people is NOT ACCEPTABLE. God bless you all.. Thank you for giving my parents a very memorable day. NO TO EASTERN PEARL SEAFOOD RESTAURANT ANYMORE!!!!

The food was good, the service was cold, and even had a server raise her voice to my daughter. No drinks offered!!! When I refused to tip because of bad service and tried to explain all I got was a dirty look. We will never enter this place again!!

This is my favorite restaurant in Sanlian City. The dishes are delicious and delicious. It is a good choice for tea, lunch or dinner!

If you know, you know. The only thing I could critique them on is where is the pepper? Only condiment they had was chili/garlic and even that wasnt quite sufficient. Some food needs assistance.

Family lunch

On June 17, we had two families having dinner in this restaurant. When we checked out, the waitress asked for cash, and the tip was 18%. Our two families managed to gather cash together, but after the waitress got the cash , she told us that we were still short of a $1 tip and asked us for it. Credit card is OK, but cash is really hard to come by! This experience was really bad, and I will never eat at this restaurant again in the future!

I was impressed by the quality and portion sizes of the dim sum pieces. Compared to a couple of other local less expensive dim sum restaurants in Poco/Coq this place has better quality food. I was happy with the size and flavor of the shrimp pieces and the meat dishes as well. It was worth paying more for the quality of the dim sum. We came on a Sunday close to 2:30pm and it wasnt too busy. Service was prompt. Would return again.

I hope the owner can read this message: Worst place and service ever. I went here for lunch today with my family and friends (14 of us in total) Our orders were over $450. Because we ordered too much, I asked the server (she seems like the manager cuz she was the only one who wore black T) how many orders were not ready? She said aggressively, dont you have eyes to see the numbers by yourself? we was in total shock! I am so ashamed of her behavior. If you cant even answer the basics of your customers questions, then you shouldnt be in this career. When my friends asked to cancel some orders if they were not ready, servers just ignored. We will never go to this place again.

!AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! I came to have dim sum with my friend and the waitress got extremely mad and rude at us for writing 2nd round of order on the same menu! I kept my cool even when she totally lost it for no reason and excuse, at all. Previously ordered the same items numerous times and every time, the price was different, not surprised especially when the waitress tells you that the price would be different between cash and credit card. I will say this: this restaurant is the last place you wanna be no matter the food quality, standard of service or honesty of their employees and owner.

Hong Kong style dim sum is delicious and a good place to drink tea.

I just had a craving for live crab and the nightmare began once I sat down in this place!! I was the first customer on the Saturday dinner time and they brought a live crab for me to accept BUT IT HAD ONE CLAW MISSING!! The next one only had one leg missing but foolishly I accepted because it looked very healthy otherwise!! Then the cooked cream crab looked good when put in front of me to eat! It seemed good at first but when I started cracking into the legs and claws it seemed an obvious switch-job, as the meat within the legs and caws was all stuck to the insides of all the shells i was cracking into!! And it did not taste fresh, and the meat was dry, not tender and jucey like I was expecting!!! Ive had both fresh and frozen Dungeness Crab as Ive worked on fishing and diveboats all up and down the BC coast since the late 70s. Then to top it all off the bill was OVER 90 DOLLARS,,,,,, JUST FOR THE ONE CRAB!!!!! I felt like a victim of Just another bait and switch rip-off!! We dont know what theyre doing back there!!! I felt totally stupid and ignorant!!! IS THIS how they get rid of unsold live crab that dies before being ordered??? DO they do this to all NON CHINESE SPEAKING CUSTOMERS??? I CERTAINLY HOPE NOT!!! BUT ILL NEVER GO BACK THERE OR RECOMEND TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR FRESH LIVE SEAFOOOD HONG KONG STYLE!!!

One of the best dim sum places in the lower mainland based on price and quality. For two people, I normally only order 3 dishes: sticky rice wrap, prawn rice roll and hargoh. Comes out to about $26. So with a tip thats under$15/person.

Terrible! Terrible! Today I took my mom (90 year old) to this restaurant for lunch at around 1:15PM. We were told the wait would be 10-15 min . However, after we waited for more than 20min, there is a couple coming to the restaurant and cut the queue, taking the table should be ready for us. When I insisted it should be my turn. They said the couple has a reservation. Obviously it is a lie. Because they knew this couple and smile and greet to each other. When I asked how long we will have to wait , they didn t mention there is a reservation before us. We are the only group waiting for a table for 2 at that 20min wait. I was so mad! How could this happen? Are they open for a business? Or for their friends party? Never go back to this restaurant! Being treated like a second class citizen!

Super tasty food and lively atmosphere and authentic cuisine and just fantastic food and super great service from all the people who are working there and I was really impressed with everything highly recommended. Parking: They were plenty of parking spots available.

AVOID THIS LOW CLASS RESTAURANT. I witnessed a horrible incident at this restaurant where the cashier and a waitress harassed and yelled at an elderly man, saying he did not leave enough tips. Let me remind you people that tips are OPTIONAL and it is not required. For you to yell at anyone because they did not leave the amount of tips that you desired is absolutely outrageous! This might be a Revenue Canada concern! Also, their washrooms are horrendous... just imagine what their kitchen looks like?? Health Canada warning! DO NOT COME TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!

The food comes out neatly and quickly. The taste of spices may vary. A worker leaves an empty bowl while eating. I felt it was a bit unkind of you to take a lot out of it.

Havent been there in a while and I just went back recently and it was just a stark difference from the last time I went. Usually during dinner back then it was packed and you had to make reservations in advance but its a like half empty. In the past we went to get dim some here all the time but I havent been back recently so I dont really have anything to say about that but will update. Parking: So much room Wheelchair accessibility: Road kinda bumpy and sometimes spaces are narrow but still doable

Food is decent for the price. Restaurant is kind of small and always busy, especially on weekend, but food comes pretty fast. The only things we are not happy with is reservation. We always call ahead of time to get a table, but when we come still need to wait at least 30-45 mins. Waitress explains to us that everyone has reservation, so we all have to wait Hopefully they can process it better.

I had quite bad experience there. I am frustrate how the ladies were talking in another language to me when I told them I dont not understand. Why cant they hire someone who can speak well english. Quiet, foods are ok a bit on the salty side

We went for dim sum a couple of times and the food was good. There are some options available in Vancouver that arent available here (I moved to this area not too long ago from Vancouver). Prices arent cheap but they arent expensive either. Parking is widely available which is great.

I had a bad experience there. Waitresses ignored us and even when we asked for service and they came over, they would only do the bare minimum service. When I complained during the pay time the woman tells me doesnt matter . Never again!
