The atmosphere here is nothing special and does not need to be with the food they serve. This is some of the best food I have had since being in LA. I go to LA to see my Korean adopted fam and they take me for food I could not get in Vancouver. The chilled noodles brought me back the first time I tried. Kimchi pancake was crispy with a nice soft inside. I ordered way too much as the portions were large. We all enjoyed the meal and I have thanked the friend that suggested it multiple times for taking us here. Now I need to go again and just order less food.
I had the bibimbap with beef, and the portion was on the small side. Besides a lot of large chunks of green onion and slices of onion, there were barely any vegetables.
My husband and I love our time there, and it was our first time there. We got want we were craving for and were satisfied. We'll be going back soon.
If you’re looking for authentic Korean soup and fresh ingredients, this is the place. I’ve been here 3 times so far and it just gets better. Authentic handmade mandu (steamed dumplings) and fall off the bone pork back bone soup with a deep flavourful broth- this soup is what Tongileo is known for so I highly recommend it - you’ll be hooked! The side dishes are fantastic as well…very fresh. Overall 5 stars and highly recommended.
I recently dined at this restaurant with a pregnant friend, and the experience was beyond disappointing. To start, we were served spoiled squid, which is completely unacceptable, especially for someone who is pregnant. After we told the server, they offered a discount as a form of compensation. However, when they got wind of our intention to report this incident to the health department, they shamefully retracted the discount. They said they are being generous and take our intention to report as a threat. Also, they emphasize that we have to be responsible for what we order, but we didn’t expect to get the spoiled food. To make matters worse, they even summoned the police to coerce us into paying the full amount. And they take away the dishes but never serve us a new one, so basically we paid full price for nothing. This level of disregard for both customer well-being and basic ethics is inexcusable. It's disheartening to see such a blatant lack of responsibility and accountability from the management. I strongly advise anyone, especially those who are pregnant or have health concerns, to steer clear of this establishment. The blatant disregard for food safety and the mistreatment of patrons is simply unacceptable. I have already reported this incident to the local health department, and I hope they take the necessary steps to rectify this situation.
backbone soup is great and meaty! Squid bibimbap is sweet and spicy, my classmates think it is average, I prefer this taste. No more spicy kimchi soup, replaced with kimchi tofu soup, which is delicious. Free to give us three small dishes, sweet potatoes, seaweed is sour and sweet taste, delicious. If you happen to be in the area, you can come and try it.
Very delicious and well priced! Service was quick when we were there, we came before it got too busy (around 4pm) but soon after we got there people started rolling in. Obvious favourite in the community and I understand why. I got the tofu seafood soup and my bf got the dumpling kal gooksu. Was very good and the portions were generous.
This is always our family's favorite restaurant in Tri-city area. Whenever I want to skip cooking at home, we'd like to come here. For years, we stick with the same orders.: Pork bone soup, bulgogi in hot stone bowl and pork cutlet. I noticed their prices have been keeping on going up, but still the most reasonable in our area. I like their sides too, which have been cut from 5 dishes down to 4, now 3. But still no complains since they were generous before and always gave refills if we asked for. Recently we started to like their bibimbap. Their cooking is good and food is tasty and homey especially in the cold winter, very filling and satisfying.
A little expensive
good
It was unfriendly and ended too early so I was disappointed.
I got a soup for dinner, and it was awesome
So glad I live in PoCo and can go to this place regular from now on. Friendly staff, sweet Korean family who are very patient and attentive. I got take out of the steamed dumplings, soup NaeJang Tang, and bibimbap. So fresh, authentic and perfect for a rainy day. Looking forward to dining in next time very soon!
Specialized menu for authentic Korean food lovers!
Extremely rude server! Terrible service! I wish I could give 0 stars!!! The taste was aweful! This place should rather shut down if they have to be so disrespectful towards their customers!
yangwoo tang (18.99) / assorted soondae (21.99) / bossam (29.99)
Pork neck bone soup is pretty good. Kimchi jeon not as good as Korea, soggier. Today when I was there the waitress brought out the soup in bags saying I could boil it at home. Had to insist I wanted it warmed up. Weird stuff. Food : 4/5
Best Korean restaurant in the lower mainland!! Very authentic. Love their soondaeguk ( )
When I crave Korean food, I always stop by this soup and bossam restaurant. Since they make the sundae themselves, I can trust it and eat it.
I ate it by chance while traveling, and it was very delicious. Kimchi pork soft tofu and sundae soup (spicy) are delicious!
I have been a regular customer since 2017. The quality of foods have not been changed. Moreover, the owner has not stopped her efforts to improve the foods that already are so tasty. My husband and I always go to this restaurant when we need soul foods.
Ive been eating for a while I told you to finish it 5 minutes ago so eat it quickly. I almost broke down while eating The food didnt taste good either This is the first time in my life that I was kicked out for eating. Ill never go again Sundae Gukbap There was no Sundae, and the Sundae came out like porridge, as if my hair had been pulled out. I got seasoned bean sprouts as a side dish. The funny thing is, only the bean sprout heads came out. Im eating I got a complaint call. Since the rice is old, I cooked it with vinegar, so it tastes sour. They say that the Sundaeguk was cut off because there was too much of it. They called me and said it wasnt spoiled so eat it first. These days, some places do business like this. When I cooked with old rice, it smelled so I added vinegar. These days, there are all kinds of restaurants that sell rice cooked with old rice. This is absurd.
Great Korean restaurant in Tri-city. Whoever try will love the food. Bonus - a kind beautiful owner.
The beef bone soup was very bland. Customer service was ok given only one lady was serving people. Ordered a cutlet rice for the nephew, but took more than 20 min to come. Food overall was passable.
6 stars for takeout!
Cozy, casual Korean food. Ban chan pretty good - kimchi spicy and bright. Friendly. Al bap was great -- crispy rice!
Pork bone soup was good! Seafood pancake not so much! Soggy and squid was super hard!
I went there because it was a good restaurant, but they left the extra side dishes behind. The radish radish was very tasteless. Recommended for those who like the taste of MSG. But there are a lot of ingredients I didnt like the place I was shown, so I wanted to move it, but they didnt clean it up and said I couldnt go anywhere else. Even in situations where there are a lot of seats They told me I couldn t change it. And I felt bad because they were shown to other guests right away. For your information, there were two of us and there were only two people who were shown to the seats.
Although it is far from the city, the grilled pork with soft tofu and shredded onions was so delicious that it was worth the trip. Side dishes included radish radish, stewed potatoes, and bean sprout salad, along with hot tea. A lunch menu that combines the taste of food and tea well on a cloudy day.
The pork bone and potato soup is so delicious!!!
I got there at 7:05, the waitress told me they close at 7:40(google says 8), so I asked whens the last order call? She said a little bit earlier than 7:40. I said alright, my friends will be here in 10mins, would that be okay and she said yes. At 7:14 another waitress asked if Ive ordered, and told me the last order call is 7:10. So I just had to leave. 1. Please just update the operation time on Google. 2. If a customer got in the door 5 mins prior to the last call, you should let them know at the door. Keeping the communication clear is the bottom line.
It seems like the taste of sundae is gradually changing, although it used to be good.
Food was fine but one of the servers manners was not good ..
Soup was ok and need to improve the service.
This insincere meal has brought a lot of disappointment to someone who has been a frequent customer for a long time. If the reason the sundae was cut so large was because it was difficult to cut with a knife and the contents had a glue-like consistency without chewing, it would have been better if they had not served it. Also, the soft tofu was boiled in plain water and had no taste at all. Even if you charge money for the side dish, I hope they give you a proper side dish. Ive lived in this house for 10 years and several years, including the previous owners, but now Im leaving. I dont know if the owner changes... Even if you say you are a genuine customer, there is nothing you can do.
Service really needed to be improved. Also, a bill should be given to me for review instead of just giving me a verbal total amount for payment.
The one lady serving my food was rude. I ordered the pork and kimchi tofu soup but she wrote down seafood instead. When I got the food, I noticed it wasn t the item I ordered so I asked her if she could give me the food I initially ordered. She told me that I ordered the seafood but I absolutely HATE seafood. I would never order seafood anything. She was lucky I m not allergic to it. She was also adamant that I was wrong and that she was right. She became super rude and ignored our table the whole time afterwards. She refused to take the food back and remake my order. I only took a sip of the soup before telling her she got the order wrong. Had to pay for the food I barely ate. Never been treated this way at restaurant before. The reason I gave them 2 stars is because the other food and the side dishes were good. I would have definitely went back if it wasn t for the poor customer service.
Food is absolutely amazing and the service is excellent. But if you re not Korean or with a Korean group then the food is almost always sold out
I really enjoyed the tofu soup with rice. Perfect during a cold day.
Absolutely worst service EVER! I have been coming here for years and every time I get attitude from the owner? Lady with plastic face? She should not be in service industry. I get push back every time, either theyre closing early ( although I arrived 45 mins before posted closing time) or theyre sold out of whatever I want to order. I had enough of her attitude and straight out asked her if she didnt like me nor wanted my business. I would suggest of you are not a native Korean which I am not, you should definitely pass on this place. OZ or HANN in Coquitlam is a better choice, they will appreciate your business and service with a SMILE!
Its been a long time since I quit my day job and started working for Uber to earn some pocket money... Ive been to Tongil-io Delivery a few times, but I can see that they raise their eyebrows at customers and try to be fawning, while answering delivery drivers as if they are half-hearted and annoying. It seems like they forgot we were customers after the shift ended...
The best Bibimbap
This place doesnt even deserve a single star. There are only 3 tables with customers, but all the other tables are empty. They said they couldn t receive customers because the tables were full. They kicked the customers out, saying that all the rest were reserved seats. The empty tables werent even cleared. I was so absurdly kicked out. Ill never go again You really have the guts to do this.
Last seat for non-reservation client, last order of , and last order of we are so lucky and this is our first time to this restaurant. Lol
this place has been here for such a long time and the food has never changed. I always get the dumpling stew and its the best. prices arent the cheapest, but the small dumpling stew can feed up to 4ish people and itll come out to maybe 13 bucks per person. they also give u noodles at the end so dont drink all the soup. the food tastes really good, maybe because they added a lot of MSG? but there are a lot of healthy ingredients in there so its not bad at all. I HIGHLY recommend this place. #caution: the dumpling stew and a lot of the dishes here are spicy, so if you or ur friend cannot eat spicy food then be aware.
It was so cool.
The qualities of food (freshness) and customer service are not acceptable. Wont recommend.
Cold noodles and ribs combo? is good value for money Pork cutlet and other types of soup were okay. People who like spicy flavors may find it a bit disappointing. People who like a mild taste will like it. Parking: Plenty of parking spaces for weekday lunch
Every time I crave authentic Korean food, I go to this restaurant and the continuous refilling of side dishes is always appreciated. Handmade steamed bumplings and pork backbone soup are my favorites
They offered the spoiled octopus. Bad service. ----------------------------------------- Please upload the report from Fraser Health. What the Fraser Health told me was totally different from what you mentioned in your response to my friend. Let us see who is the liar! If you guys take food safety extremely serious, Why did you retracted the discount offer after we mentioned the intention to report this to Fraser Health? Your behavior doesnt look like you have confident in that. What a shame!
The food was smelly and had mucus in it. It was also tested for rotten bacteria. After the operation room, I saw a lot of food fell on the floor and was all picked up and put on plates!!!
My friend told me about this restaurant very good pork bone soup. So I took my son with me went there for dinner, my son ordered beef bone soup, surprised us there was not a piece of beef bones inside just few pieces of beef!! I think this restaurant didnt like others than Korean people , thats the way they give you the hints. Will never go there again, Tri cuties still have many GOOD Korean restaurants in tri-cites!!
My family always comes here for Korean food. They have a very nice pork bone soup. Cheap price, generous portion. I m definitely coming back soon.
Great place for a nice sizzling Seafood Tofu hotpot. Their side dishes were delicious. The quality of the food was above my expectation.
Down home hole in the wall. I wanna try something different, but I dream about the backbone soup, so I cant help getting that. Its so good, big pile of bones and meat in delicious broth. Tried this soup at other Korean joints, but they didnt compare. My wife feels the same way about the spicy tofu seafood soup. Not too spicy, and shes a lightweight. The complimentary side dishes are also really good. Not fancy, great food and service.
If you want to try REAL Korean food, you should try it here.
Best Korean food in town! The price is fair and they have great tasting side dishes.
Very delicious
Authentic food!
Only Restaurant that have pork bone soup without spicy
Great quality soup + galbi combo for $20. Always happy to come here.
Even after 15 minutes of giving them the menu, they didnt come to take the order. Even though they went to the counter to order, it was as if it was natural to come... It was really hard to find the spirit of service.
Great food and great service at an affordable price!
Good parking place. We 5 persons visited Korea traditional restaurants. We order 2 Pork back bone soup and 3 Korean sausage soup. Very delicious & are really good price and good kindly seving. I recommend this place. We will return for sure
Their gamjatang, kimchi pancake, Tappan sundae, kalgooksoo, and bossam are really good. Generous portions and were always happy when we leave.
I had a set of Sundae Teppan Stir-fry and Seafood Kalguksu Bossam, and the Teppan Stir-fry was delicious!!! It s better than the stir-fried food I had at Lougheed s pork soup restaurant! I want to go again!
Its so delicious
Happened to have a lunch here after finding out the butcher with the same name we wanted to go for was closed. Maybe we were super hungry anyhow the dishes tasted amazing. We tried the pork bone soup and some sundae soup. What makes us happy was the side dishes tasting good and fresh. Cant imagine a good Korean restaurant without tasty side dishes. Will be regular to this place.
A delicious place every time I go! I had sundae soup, dumpling soup, and pork cutlet, and they were all delicious. I want to buy some sundae soup and dumpling soup to feed my son before he goes back to the military, but its snowing so hard My favorite Korean restaurant!!
Great food and service! One of the best pork bone soup!
I entered the restaurant and took a seat after checking the vaccine QR code and my ID like other restaurants, but after checking the QR code, they asked the kids for their student IDs, so I told them I didnt have any and asked them to leave. Do your children usually carry their student ID cards? At a nearby table, children who looked like G1-4, who had not been fully vaccinated, were eating soup with their parents. What kind of situation is this? This was the attitude of the server at Tongilio every time.
Many authentic Korean dishes are there. Specially I like menus with Korean sausage. Price went up all menus in 2022 but most of restaurants are same.
The space could use a reno but the soups are excellent.
Awesome food and service
They are really good, and they know what they do. Really close to origin Korean taste
Tasty authentic Korean food! Service was quick and helpful.
Im glad theres sundae soup here^^ And the name of this place comes from unification! when unifying the menu? It is said. I thought the previous boss was a displaced person.
Good portions, tasty, warming service. Walking out with a full stomach may be only caused you $15. Highly recommend!
Extremely rude! No customer service at all!!! I was standing there for 10 mins, no one lines up, no one came and greet me. I even waved them and they pretended they didn t see me. There were tables ! I felt no respect!
Vegetarian options: Ask the server Parking: Own parking lot
So delicious
The seafood soft tofu is really great!!! The food was all delicious and the price was cheap, which was great^^
I am more than satisfied with the quantity, taste, price, and friendliness.
Delicious food and very gracious staff. Its always a delight to go to Tongileo.
It s always delicious and my favorite sundae soup.
this place is an absolute hidden gem, if you blink you ll miss it! Very flavourful soup. I usually get the tofu soup with pork and kimchi and dump my rice in it and it is sooo good. Their deep fried dumpling is to die for. a little more on the expensive side but very worth it.
I am surprised this business is still sticking around... the female owner/server is so rude and unpleasant, I dont feel welcomed at all walking into the restaurant. food is just so so. been here once months ago same experience, gave them another shot today still same awful experience, never again for me.
I used to only do takeout, but this was my first time dining in. The servers are friendly and the food tastes good! :)
Although tasty, their cuisine here is way too oily in my opinion.
Best pork bone soup in the town!
Ordered take out and they did not disappoint. Their soups are so tasty! Love their broth. Will definitely order from them again and maybe a dine-in.
Will the amount be reduced if I submit it? After removing all the bones from the Bone Haejangguk, the amount of meat was really less than a spoonful... Anyway, this is my third time ordering this and the portion is still small. I used to go to this restaurant quite often, but I was disappointed.
It was a comfortable meal. Gonom. Makes me want to drink Gonom menu...so delicious...boiled pork?.Did they say bossam...
Very good parking place We ordered Korean 1. sosage soup 1.Pork Bone soup for dinner. Very delicious & good serving Food : 5/5
Yummy and delicious
Two white guys. Some soju, soup , bibimbap. Delicious!!!!
The owner was very unfriendly and had problems. If something goes wrong due to miscommunication, it would be right to solve the problem, but there is no ability to solve it at all. This kind of thing is common in any society, but looking at the reviews, it seems like people have made this mistake several times...
The food generally are really good and traditional korean soups are really tasty. The noodles are not the best though. If you are looking to get korean soups, I recommend this place.
I recommend Ugeoji Yangwootang. Sundaeguk, grilled mackerel set meal + soybean paste stew
My go to place when looking for a warm, comfy, and tasty soup. Been going here for about 4 years now and always order the pork bone and potato hotpot. Its a bit pricey if youre by yourself but the soup can be shared between 3 to 4 people (large size) so it comes out pretty cheap. The lady and man who run this place has always been kind and generous whenever we come here. Also a good spot if youre looking for Hangover soup. You can thank me later!
My family and I ordered cold noodles and bbq, pork cutlets, and beef intestine soup. All the food we had was so delicious and the portion was generous. The service was great and we definitely wanna comeback.
Sundaeguk is delicious and the quantity is more than other places. The hangover soup was good and the server lady was friendly. Its worth stopping by once when you go to Coqui Center.
Authentic korean food with friendly staff and plenty of parking spaces in front. Their soups wont disappoint you. Very reasonable price with a big portion. Highly recommnded!
I really love the food here!! All the food is really delicious The homemade dumpling sundae is also really great!!! Stir-fried tripe tastes very reminiscent of Korea! I really recommend it, thumbs up
Nice
Sundae is so delicious!! I think Ill become a fan .
So good!
I drive by here all the time. Never really thought to have a bite here, but Im glad I finally stopped by. Great home style Korean food with lots of soups. Incredibly flavorful, and fair pricing for the amount of food! The Kimchi and other sides also taste great. The rice they use is the purple dirty rice, which is a little more sticky, and works well with the soup. I personally had the pork galbi with pork kimchi tofu soup, and I would highly recommend that particular dish. It wasnt too busy when we first got there, but it got busy quickly, and the clientele was all Korean customers. If a lot of Koreans are eating here, it must be authentic!
We ordered seafood tofu soup, bbq pork and kimchi soup. Everything was delicious. We will definitely come back
The boss is so unfriendly. Even on the way home, my bad mood doesnt go away. really! I will never order it again!
Ive noticed a price increase for almost all restaurants after the pandemic which is very understandable and I think we all should support local businesses especially during this difficult time if we can. However, this restaurant is the only one that has the same price as pre covid but the portion and the quality of the food maintains the same. Me and my colleagues always order their pork bone soup, it is so delicious and nutritious. The staff are all very nice too. Highly recommend everyone to give it a try.
Its poor service and long waiting line. Sundae was not good and soup is spicy
Terrible customer service over the phone. She refused to take the order because it will take too long. Very rude attitude overall. Please be respectful to customers.
Very good hearty Sundaegook. Impressed. Thank you guys for the delicious food.
Love this place! I used to live in Korea, so I know that this place is as authentic as it gets out here. The side dishes and all the meal choices are delicious. The pork backbone soup is the best I ve had in the lower mainland. The individual serving of soup ($13ish) and a second dish is enough food for two!
I will never recommend to try this restaurant. Really small portion. I ordered the beef cold noodles and there was only ONE slice beef which charged me $12.99. Yes, it is cheap comparing others. The only affordable thing was only add $3 to get a combo with few slices pork belly and two side dishes. And there were flies hung over and over and over.
Various menus for all ages, families. So delicious and prices are reasonable, even more quantities.
After the owner changed, the food quality and taste went way down. It was good when it was run by the same owner as the butcher shop next door. The new owner doesn t seem to care much about the cleanliness of the place and the service was terrible on our last visit. The bathroom was disgusting also.
I ve been here twice in person and the food is good, the service is crap. The woman is extremely rude - or seems this way, perhaps just a language barrier. I called on thanksgiving to order takeout, she answered in Korean with the restaurant name. My Korean is not good so I spoke English and asked to order takeout. She then kept repeating break. She did not want to take my order so I though they might be closed for the holiday? But why answer the phone? We drove by and it was very busy inside. Would frequent the restaurant more if the service wasn t so challenging.
Very friendly environment, very good food and nice service.
The price is affordable. The service is very nice. I like the pork bone soup.
Dont expect too much. Because it is so precious to taste Korean food here.
Closes early but they were able to let us stay near the end while cleaning up. We got the pork bone soup and BBQ kalbi with tofu soup. Fantastic taste to everything, the tofu soup spot youve been waiting for!
I like kimchi stew
Forgot to take pictures. However, if you have been reading my reviews. My wife is korean and my reviews of korean food are pretty harsh. I wish i could give this place more than 5 stars. I really enjoyed the pork bone soup. Worth every penny and I finished the whole thing - while still being able to share with my wife. Wife ordered the soondae package - blood sausage with liver, etc. She told me it was very good. I had the soondae as well and it was good and tasty and had no smell as in korean smell. I have had soondae before and it is hard for me to consume/eat because of the smell. This soondae had no smell which means the meat is fresh. I went on a Tuesday for lunch and it was packed at 12pm. A good sign that its a well known restaurant. highly recommend this place and without a doubt - 5 stars!
Good Korean restaurant. You can taste real Korean soup.
The most delicious sundae soup in Vancouver. Kimchi too. The price is good too
If you submit it without boiling it, you will not receive rice or side dishes. I didnt know because the woman didnt explain it when ordering. If you are eating it outside, be sure to boil it before serving, otherwise the rice side dish will not be served.
I really liked the place. My family went to the place to have a lunch. Each food had enough portion. Kids loved Tonkatsu combo.
A wait to get in for Tuesday lunch was my first impression of this homey and unpretentious spot. It was busy, it smelled great as soon we stepped in, and our dishes got to us quickly. Pork bone soup was as good as advertised, beef soup I thought was pretty good. Not just generous portions but stick to your ribs goodness. We also ordered fried dumplings - 8 to a plate and tastes like my Korean mother in law must be working part time in the kitchen. The table behind us had the teppan chicken which is definitely on my list to try when I go back again.
The pork bone soup is really good.
Sometimes I stop by and eat after exercising. Personally, I like kimchi hotpot and dumpling hotpot.
Very good Korean restaurant
The soup here is amazing. Definitely a hidden away place that you probably didnt notice unless you heard about it from a Korean local. Not a super fancy restaurant but food is definitely better than the fancier places
Tasty.
My familys new goto for Korean food. Specializes more in soups, so might not have some of the standard dishes other restaurants offer, but its a hearty meal at a reasonable price for great value. Friendly and helpful staff.
Second visit for this shop.
We ordered the wrong soup but otherwise delicious and good service .
This place is the BEST Korean restaurant. Nothing to say more. If it s close to my place, I would come at least 3 times a week. Love their kimchi especially, green onion. Two thumbs up!
The summer delicacy, bean noodles, is delicious here.
This restaurant has been a family favourite for many years. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. I especially love their kalguksu.
Good prices and good service, the place is a bit run down, but a very homey feel to the decor. The food is very traditional Korean, and the owners English is very limited but super friendly and helpful. What I like most about this restaurant is the number of different side dishes and option for red rice instead of white.
The landlady was very unfriendly. I am so impressed. I will never go again.
The owner is very unfriendly and raises the price by $2.45. Please be sure to check when calculating.
The best Korean sausage soup and gamjatang in greater Vancouver! The service is quick and the quality is amazing. Food portions are huge and very tasty.
This place is so great.
great good!
I am not sure how authentic the food is, but it is just simply tasty! Our kids call this place the purple rice restaurant. We have tried so many different spots around town, and nothing compares to this place, either the unique flavor, loaded fresh ingredients, or the generous portion. Take out is just as good as dining in. We order hotpot pork bone soup all the time. We see a lot of restaurants come and go in poco, so it is not a surprise that they lasted so long at a very remote location.
Where I go for Bossam combo. Great food, price and decent service for a Korean restaurant.
