Arms Pub in Port Coquitlam

Well,,,,, A good friend of mine had been bragging how big the portions of prime rib was at The Rms Pub!!! So my wife and I decided to check it out! Well when we arrived at the Arms Pub there were about 8 people in front of us just inside the pub waiting to be seated. People were not being tested for about 15 minutes even though there were about 7 4 seat tables and about 20 bar seats, somecright at the bar. Now I know some bars and restaurants wont seat people because they dont have the staff to handle the people. The place is definitely a Pub with mostly older people and many tvs to watch hockey football etc. It was quite loud and when we were able to park in front of the pub we noticed 3 or 4 people smoking outside the place. Well the fellow who seated people was a large older man and not that friendly at least he didnt smile. He started seating people at bar seats when there were like I said about 7, 4 seat tables mmm, he was just saying come with me firmly and you sit here! Well our turn came and this same man said follow me and placed me and my wife in the front bar in front of several tvs. He never asked would you like to sit at a table? Like I said there were about 7 tables still vacant. The bar man immediately asked us if we would like a drinks? I said can we have 2 tall gin and tonic. He very quickly brought us 2 regular sized gin and tonics and I said no we wanted tall drinks . He was very polite and said right Im sorry and brought us 2 tall gin and tonics with a lime. The he asked what would you like to eat and I said 2 prime ribs. Very quickly we received 2 prime ribs! I would say less than 10 minutes. I was impressed by the speed at which the food arrived! Now as soon as we sat down I could smell this cigarette smoke smell?? The I noticed to the left of my wife an older man with a long beard drink a bottle of beer. He must smoke a lot cause the smell of smoke he was giving off was pretty strong and stunk and he went outside a few times to smoke before he finally left. Well the prime rib was quite large and about 3/4 of an inch thick and came with a little container of horse radish and washed potatoes with gravy and some sliced carrots. Also a medium sized yorkshire pudding with some gravy on it. Now I grew up with an English friend and his grandmother made the best yorkshire pudding I have yet to taste anywhere, it was large cut in the middle with beef bits and gravy and was soooo good. However the pub tried but not even close , sorry. The prime rib was soft in some parts and chewy in some parts and had about 30 % fat which I have pictures of . So, my friends account of a very large prime was not quite accurate by about 30% ha ha. The people at the bar to the left of me were friendly one person an older man left and another came and sat down and was also friendly. I had to use the washroom before we left and it was very clean as was what I saw with the rest of the pub when we ate our prime rib. As we left thank God I had finished eating a tall man who was eating and drinking at a bar table with some other people behind us clear his throat and it was disgusting and he looked at me as he was doing it ugh. I also noted 3 or 4 of the vacant tables to the right of the entrance were now occupied by some older people I assume to eat prime rib . Then I thought maybe these tables were reserved? However I didnt noticed and reserved signs on the tables when we first arrived. Its a pub I would not say its bad or good but Ive eaten better and Ive been to many countries in my life at 74 yrs but give it a try you might like it ? The drinks were reasonable so theres an Insentive and they do have $4.95 burger night but u have to buy a drink still a good deal. So get the guys together watch a hockey game and try the food it wont break your wallet!!! Parking: Lots of parking and quite a large pub with good food and drink service! I love this place because of their positive atmosphere.

Has to be the largest old school pub of an era and one that just wont quit! Service is fast and organized, food was very good and fast despite the fact the Arms is Always busy! It just packs people in. For sure an older demographic but a true all walks of life pub thats affordable, welcoming and general excellent value for drinks and beer not one trendy pub in town can match! The Arms is a Go There and therapy to feel better!

Monday Night Football, its the place to be! Staff are great, beer is cold and reasonably priced. The nachos though.... they used to be AWESOME, since last year theyve become disappointing. Tonight they were overcooked and really only cheese on the surface, not thought-out. Wish the old cook was still there. The shrimp nachos used to be a dream!

Great Atmosphere! As soon as I walked in, there was a group game going on for Bingo. Staff is very friendly and quick. Drinks were priced very reasonably, and food was killer. Hope to be back soon.

I have been a frequent customer at this establishment, but my friends and I have consistently faced unacceptable treatment whenever Al is present. Each encounter with him has been marked by rudeness and poor service, and it is clear he harbors a troubling bias against people who aren t white. This is deeply disappointing, especially given the welcoming attitude shown by other staff members, particularly the female waitstaff who are consistently courteous. It s unfortunate that one individual s prejudiced behavior overshadows what could otherwise be a positive experience here. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses this issue to create a respectful, inclusive environment for all patrons.

It is a little outdated for the times, but that is probably why food is a great price, good quality,tasty. Service is good. Always busy for a neighborhood pub that has been around for decades.Recommend trying once

I opened a brand new credit card never even been used once I used it first time and only time at the bar with the blonde girl and she took the cards numbers and signed up for some XXX sites if I didn t catch this in time I m sure my card would have had charges on them

We ended up here by luck! It happened to be on a trivia night and it was a lot of fun. Our food was really good and exceptionally priced. I had a steak dinner for $20!!!! Unreal! Service was excellent and it was a great time. I will be back! The food was sooooooo good!

I was in coquitlam for a few weeks from the UK and felt right at home here. Staff and patrons were all welcoming and friendly, the place had something going on nearly every night of the week and AL the doorman was a pleasure who accommodated you. If I m ever over that part of the world again I ll be sure to pop back in.

**Terrible Service from the Arms Pub Avoid!** I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Arms Pub tonight, mainly due to the unprofessional behavior of a staff member named Al. From the moment we arrived, his lack of basic customer service skills was evident. He was dismissive, inattentive, and acted as if serving customers was an inconvenience. We had a friend who worked here so we would visit every now and again. This is not the first time we have had pathetic service from this man although it s now a last. His unwillingness to listen or show any care for his job made the whole experience unpleasant. If youre looking for friendly, attentive service, steer clear of this place, especially if Al is working. The Arms Pub needs to seriously reconsider the kind of staff they hire if they want to maintain any sort of reputation. They should start by showing Al the front door and not allowing him back. It s a shame because the atmosphere of the place could have been great, but the vibe is killed the second he speaks to you at the door. I won t be coming back.

If I could give 0 Stars. My husband and I went to the Arms Pub for a quick burger, it was loud and busy inside so I asked if we could sit outside. The host, Al reply sure, but it will take a while then left the restaurant to have a smoke. We proceed to sit and look at the menu. When Al finished his smoke he came back over to us to ask for our ID. We were there for a burger and a water.. no need for ID so I did not have my wallet on me, only had photo proof which he straight up rejected as not good enough. Suffice to say we will not be going back

I was made to feel really uncomfortable by the floor manager AL!!! I sat at a table near a window and he kept closing it!!! I had no choice!! No other tables were available and as a woman on her own I was NOT comfortable sitting at the bar. A lady (another customer) came over and said he was fired for this before. Apparently was suppose to have changed??? Apparently Not. !!! He didnt even ask!!! So I kept shutting it! He came over , argued with me, opened it again, and said the waitresses needed to see out! The window beside me was open. There were no other tables available! I felt so uncomfortable. He was so rude and dismissive. Ruined my whole evening!!!

We come here often, its usually busy. The food is good mostly typical pub choices with a few surprises and reasonable pricing. The Ladies who serve tables here are angels be nice to them. Not for kids, dont bring your kids.

Mini yorkies is why we come here. Best ever. The dessert was heavenly as well.

Went to Wednesday music bingo with a friend and it was awesome. Good food and big portions. Server did not look us in the eyes the whole time so wasnt sure she got our order. But overall it is walking distance and good place to eat. But can be loud so dont expect a quiet meal. Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible with someone to open doors.

I want to start by saying that their food is amazing and I am looking forward to visiting more often. However, I had an experience that has given me pause. Unfortunately, the service I received from the server was disappointing. On multiple occasions, the server s attitude toward my table felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which I didn t observe happening with other tables around us. As the only Asian patrons in the restaurant, this made the experience quite uncomfortable. As I love this place and want to go again, I hope they can embrace diversity and treat all customers with the same respect and kindness, regardless of their background especially in a community that promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion.

$20 for the prime rib special on Saturday night. Tasty and filling. Get there early enough so you dont miss out on the prime rib special. Staff were friendly and on top of everything all night.

What a great Saturday night. I had the huge bacon burger with yam fries and it was fantastic. My friend had the calamari, also delicious. The music was excellent, (Scary Lizards band), the dance floor crowded with people enjoying the band. Would not hesitate to recommend this place. Servers super cheerful and prompt even though super busy! Parking: Parking lot huge and right out front.

Been coming to The Arms for over 20 years. I was shocked to hear Al had been let go. I stopped coming for a while because of it. But now that he s back, I will keep coming back regularly. He s a great guy and The Arms wasn t the same without him. Glad to see you re back, Al!

The Arms is a favourite of ours. We are regulars and tend to go for Tuesday and Thursday specials and Brunch on the weekend. Food is always excellent and overall atmosphere is great. Most of the time service is good. Went for a birthday brunch on July 1 (we had reservations) and was expecting the same good service as we always get. However, this time we didn t. Server was beyond rude and did the bare minimum. Rude to the point that everyone at the table had raised eyebrows. Maybe she just had a bad morning. But still left a bad taste at our favourite pub. She still got a 15% tip on a table of 9. She should ve got less but the food was great as always! And the cooks deserved it.

Straight up this is an authentic dive, in a good way. They have meat draws, they have wing night, they have a house draft that might be watered down... but when the wings are flowing who doesnt benefit from a a slightly lighter beer?

One of the best places to grab drinks and food. Really economical and super tasty. Went on Wednesday so it was a musical bingo night and it was jam packed. Luckily we were able to find a table right away, but wouldnt be a bad idea to call ahead and see if they rake reservations. The server was like a super woman, she was handling tables in a very timely fashion, paying attention to detail even when the place was a full house, so kudos to her! Im def coming back here again!

Discrimination. . The witress Carmen was given such attitude the moment she asked us for our forst drink ..the look like was she was annoyed.. we are latinas ..she has never severed me before i spoke with the management regards my thoughts about her service and all he can say was that she knew my date and knew her vibe ..it didnt matter because the server never served me before i do not deserve the disrespect i had received..apparently they do not care about what we as customers think ..if i was you i wouldnt come here..so disrespect

Ive been here now 4 times. A different server each time. I did not feel welcomed at all. Was not checked up on. not asked how my food was until it was time for the bill. Charge almost 4 bucks for a glass of pop/ ice tea. ( no refills). I just moved back into the neighborhood and was coming here 15 years ago. Back then, the place was fantastic and fun. No issues, now.. well, now I get the hint. I wont be going back.

I went on Wednesday night for music bingo with my grandmother and friend. We were greeted by quite a grumpy bouncer asking how many in our group, proceeding to tell us we are third in line. Okay thats fine its very busy! As our table opened up my grandmother went and sat down as her joint are not great and she needed to sit. The bouncer angrily walked up to her and said you just couldnt wait hey? Barely wiped the table and said good enough and then walked passed me swearing about my grandma. This was un excusable behaviour and i genuinely could not believe what just happened. A few other things went wrong on our visit but i work in a restaurant and am understanding of technical errors on busy nights. Food was great and so was our service but i was appalled how we were treated by the howt/bouncer or whatever he is.

Have frequented this place a lot. Fish & chips is good, wings are good. The prime rip on a kaiser should be on a different bun thats not so soft, like ise the same as the beef dip. Its a typical noisy pub, often busy. The beef burgers are not my favorite taste like frozen cardboard. Fries are decent, they are basically the same as what you get at the costco deli. The fish burger is like a frozen patty not an actual piece of fish as you would expect. Overall we keep coming back.

A truly typical pub. Decent food (which wouldnt be found in Michelin Guide, but still good), great service and even greater atmosphere! Worth a visit for sure if you live nearby.

A busy pub with great vibe and good atmosphere. Exactly the way any pub should be! They have game nights during the week so basically they are busy every night. Food is okay with good portions and reasonable price. People are friendly and service is good.

Authentic 80s experience, right down to the decor, furniture and smell of cigarette smoke. Even has the odd surly waitress, and painted pirates on the mirrored walls to boot. Definitely had that 80s trucker bar feel to it. I loved every minute of it. Will be coming back.

Is it a 5 star restaurant? No, but it doesn t have to be. The food is great, the drinks are slightly watered down but still great, the staff is friendly, oh and the dessert is really really good. Portions are large, plenty of seating inside and comfy chairs. Highly recommend you check it out and grab a beer.

We used to come here because the food was decent and the quality of the Guinness was good. However there is one bartender that doesn t have a clue when it come to serving Guinness. He claims he will get in trouble if he fills the pint all the way. There is one waitress that told us he hasn t a clue and when she serves us the pints are perfect. We drink Guinness in many other pubs out of the same type glass and they all fill it correctly and don t seem to get in any trouble. If they fixed this problem we might come back. Great place otherwise.

The experience at Arm s Pob was disappointing. On two separate occasions, we encountered rude staff, cold food, and overcharging. The first visit involved disrespectful service from an elderly couple, and they even charged us for a soft drink they never brought. Despite expressing my concern, the issue was not resolved. A year later, we gave it another chance with friends, only to face mistreatment again. I recommend avoiding Arm s Pob due to these negative experiences. I never recommend this Pob. We have very bad experiences there

Last night s visit to Arms Pub was not only deeply disappointing but also quite unsettling. My husband, myself, and another couple decided to dine at Arms Pub, expecting a pleasant evening out. However, what we encountered was far from it. Upon our arrival, we noticed several empty tables and no visible queue. Naturally, we chose a table to sit at. However, we were promptly informed by a staff member that we needed to wait at the entrance. We obliged, despite noticing no other patrons waiting. As time passed, more customers arrived and began queuing behind us. Strikingly, the staff, who were admittedly short-handed, kept glancing our way but chose to ignore us. Seeking clarity, we politely inquired about the wait time, only to be met with a rude and unhelpful response, suggesting we d be better off not waiting. Baffled but patient, we decided to step outside, only to witness the couple behind us being immediately seated. The most disconcerting part of the evening was when a staff member bluntly told us, You are not welcome here. This statement was not only shocking but also deeply hurtful. It was clear that the refusal of service was not due to the busy nature of the pub or the staff shortage.

We love coming here for trivia (Amber is hilarious)! Everything is reasonably priced and the food is ALWAYS consistent. All the wait staff are spectacular, but tonight Carey-Ann blew us away... phenomal!

Six of us went to Arms pub. My husband and I were there before and decided to bring 4 friends for the first time. OMG Arms pub never disappoints. Our server Natasha was amazing, drinks were decadent, food was incredible and prices are unbelievable. I hope they dont raise their prices and dont lose their cooks and servers. We and our friends will definitely return, you cant beet this place.

On Friday night my friend was craving the Arms chicken parmesan so we went for dinner. I had the quesadilla which was loaded with chicken, veggies and cheese but could have been cooked a little bit more/crisper for my taste, still delicious. So the food was good as usual (also best price in town for prime rib dinner but go early) but I wanted to post this review to acknowledge the excellent service we had from Carey-Ann. Basically it was perfect service - being greeted warmly and promptly with a smile, having our drink orders taken and brought correctly (I usually order a glass of ice water with a straw when I order an alcoholic beverage and you wouldnt believe how many times either the water or the straw gets forgotten. Also, I expect any cold drink to be served with a coaster under it, which she also nailed.) Then she returned promptly to take our food orders, which were delivered hot and correctly. She came by to check and see if we were enjoying our food and/or needed anything. And she maintained her smile when separating our bills and taking our payments, all on a busy night. It doesnt seem like too much to ask when servers expect at least a 20% tip but I eat and drink out a fair bit and I cant remember the last time I gave a server five stars. I used to live in PoCo (now in Maple Ridge) and I know Carey-Ann has worked there for many years, honing her skills. It was really a treat to enjoy her friendly service. One final note - I just went to look at my receipt to see how much her tip was in a dollar amount as I tip in percentage and noticed that the onion rings I chose with my meal were a $3 upcharge that she didnt mention. I thought the menu said it came with fries, salad or onion rings. I didnt really need more than the quesadilla itself as it was filling and I took half of it home but hadnt had onion rings in ages. I checked the online menu but it doesnt mention anything coming with the meal so I dont know if I misread the real menu or the online version just doesnt mention the options, in which case it could have been my mistake so I will leave Carey-Anns five star rating intact. Generally, though, I think servers should mention upcharges.

Very busy on any day of the week, great food and large portions for great prices. All staff seem very friendly and they have games nights. The night we went they had trivia. The meal was full of flavour and great price. Took awhile to get our meal but completely worth it!

The staff are all down to earth and super friendly (especially Melissa), the food is pretty damn good too (the steak dinner on Wednesday is hard to beat). They also host all sorts of fun events throughout the week and give away a ton of free stuff, from Monday night football and Wednesdays music bingo its always fun at the arms.

Food was decent but customer service was the worse ever.

the check in person was very rude disrespectful ! will never go to this place again. He doesn t know anything about customer service . casually uses the f-word in public WHILE hes working, making you feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Would not even try to listen to customers. Extremely bad experience.

Great location with lots of parking. Can accommodate larger groups. Service was fantastic and so was the price of food.

Went for lunch on Saturday and had a burger fries and a beer. The place was busy as usual but the service was good and the food came wick and was good as usual. The Arms is an old style pub that is still in the 70s or 80s but its all good.

Had prime rib everything was good except for the fact that the meat was way too rare for my liking

Went in Saturday evening and the guy working there was the rudest di*khead ive ever experienced. We dont go out very often and when i do i dont expect to be treated and talked to the way he did. Do Better, get someone more customer serviced oriented. Walked out without sitting down because of him.
