I just had the best steak of my life - rib eye, rare. Perfect.

Food was great. A/C was very chilly.

Only thing we missed out on is that Brunch is only served on Sundays.

Good food, but fish dishes need work.

Inside was cute. Food was alright. Burger was dry and seemed like it was under a heat lap for awhile however tried to give some credit as it seemed the server was busy with a large group. Was surprised that the server had a lot to tell us at the beginning of our meal but failed to say that the prices were increased over $6 on some items. I brought up the false advertising and she refused to honour the listed price. I would never pay $26 for a dry burger. Next time I ll drive to the Keg.

I absolutely love the food at this small quaint restaurant. It was nice that the chef Dwayne came out to our table to make sure everything was done perfectly. The food, service and atmosphere makes this one of my favourite restaurants.

I have been going there every Valentines day for the last 4 years. We have never had a bad meal. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Staff is friendly and courteous and give schofiends a fun vibe. Considering it was Valentines day, the bill was including wine. Would highly recommend.

Great spot Worth the drive from Hamilton

First time at Schofields was on Valentines night, the service was great, the food was very good, it was a set menu $74 PP with was good value. I would definitely go again...the only criticism I have, is it was freezing every time the door opened as there is no vestibule to block the wind. Food

Delicious food, great service

This is my favourite restaurant in Port Dover. I am sad to say my experiences since the change in ownership in 2022 have not been as fabulous.

Sad to say this place has gone downhill since it was sold. Tonight we had reservations at 530 and didnt get our meal until 650. My meal was still delayed and had to take it to go as we had plans at 715. Friends steak was very rare when he had requested medium. They comped his meal and gave me a complimentary appetizer. Definitely my worst experience there. Probably will be my last visit.

The food was meh. A couple of people in our party had been there many times prior to the recent new ownership and have had great meals but nobody really enjoyed the meal this time unfortunately. Server was fine. She was friendly and helpful, but didn t seem to know of the menu that well and there s only so much she can do. And there was an amazing harpist during our dinner, which is what saved the evening. She was great and that was very enjoyable! Great call :-). But you need to work on the menu and the flavours to justify the prices.

Schofields was great!!! I came here with some friends for dinner on my birthday after unfortunately having a horrible experience at another restaurant in town. Our server was an older lady i didn t get her name but she was so sweet and friendly! The food and drinks were great especially the daquiris!!! Thank you so much for the great dinner!

Mixed results with our group. The lamb and salmon was great. Crab cakes bit over cooked and greasy and the crispy cauliflower was battered unexpectedly. Drinks and service was good

Appetizers were good! Was disappointed in the mains. Prime rib was not good - very sinuey and pasta was over cooked. Crème Brûlée had good flavour but was not set and no berries as indicated. Service was good!

I had to edit my review from 5 years ago to our current meal. The food was seriously cold and undercooked. Baked potato was not cooked. Asked for a replacement and it never came. The salads we order never came. A power outage two days ago was blamed on the cold undercooked food. Is the refrigeration system affected as well??

My friend and I had a delightful experience yesterday. I wasnt hungry so I had 2 appetizers--the escargots and garden salad. The escargots were cooked to perfection and very delicious. The salad was also well prepared and the dressing was excellent. My friend wasnt as happy as she ordered the pickerel with lemon and tarragon and could not find any lemon and tarragon when she sampled her dish. However the service and the atmosphere was excellent. The owner approached us for feedback and he was very open and we had a delightful conversation. I hope to return very soon. Thank you Hemi. Was wanting to celebrate Thanksgiving last night so I went and got take out. The soup was cold and not very tasty. The Turkey dinner was also cold and sure not much food for the price. Have taken out lots of take out under the old owner and it was fantastic.

Wow! What a beautiful restaurant. The atmosphere is breathtaking & The service is always top-notch. Emily was our waitress and she was so attentive and on the ball. Had a great experience and definitely will be back.

Steaks are frozen and dont come out rare or medium rare EDIT* I will explain a bit more, sorry. We came for a family members birthday. (September 17th around 5pm) It was most peoples first time there. But I heard really good things, so maybe expectations were a bit too high. Overall, it was a good time. My plate was fine and the same with my dads and sister, didnt really have anything wrong, but at the same time, for the price and expectations, it wasnt really that great either. Now, the 2 other patrons ordered a rare and blue-rare steak. Both steaks came out pretty ridiculous some parts of the steak were so overcooked that it was like cardboard. Other parts of the same steak were rare but freezing cold. The steaks also had no color or flavor. We all tried it and agreed with them. It was like only half the stove was on while cooking it. Our server was amazing. Honestly, bless her soul. I know how hard it is when something like this happens because it isnt her fault. And she was lovely. She gave our dog fresh water and was happy and friendly. We told her about the steaks, and EVEN SHE LOOKED SHOCKED. she took it back, then came back out to our table and told us straight up, she apologizes but the steaks are frozen, and it is hard to get them rare. But they still had to pay for their steak dinners, but they could get a free burger.. the steaks were a lot more expensive, but whatever. But then the burgers were dry there was no winning. But anyways, like I said over all Was good time, but I just wont order steak ever. Drinks were good. Sitting on the sidewalk patio was fun for us. we dont mind people walking by and motorcycles zooming by, but if you want something quiet or dont want people smoking cigarettes around you while youre eating, then you might want to find a different place.

Very upset with our experience this evening. My husband brought home takeout. Chicken parm with veg and grilled chicken with veg for our one year old. After a few bites of my chicken parm I noticed it was raw in the middle. My daughters was fine thank god. My husband brought my meal back and they at first offered him store credit. Which, why would we ever want to eat there again after being served raw chicken? They then offered to take his number down as they didn t know how to refund. He left out of frustration. I wish he would have provided his number as I do believe we are entitled to a refund at the very least. I checked my daughters chicken and hers was fine. Now I just have to play the waiting game to see if I get food poisoning or salmonella. It s too bad as we have always enjoyed this place and the food is the best in dover.

Went to Schofields before the show at the Lighthouse. Was somewhat leary after reading several past reviews but boy were we pleasantly surprised. The food, the service were exceptional and the owner and the chef came by our table to say hello and to make sure we were happy with our experience. We will be back for sure. If you haven t been or been back - I highly recommend that you do.

An amazing place to visit at any hour of the day. I haven t taken a trip to Dover since before the pandemic and let me say, this play is wonderful. The servers are polite, the owner has a friendly face, and the Chefs made sure I enjoyed my order. All of this made my experience phenomenal, I would definitely recommend and come again.

My wife and I had an excellent dinner at Schofields last night. The escargot was mushroom stuffed with a tasty cheese topping. Our entree s came out quickly, because we told the server we were hungry. Both plates were piping hot. The two piece English style fish and chips was crisp and tasty as I ever got in England. The fettuccine Alfredo was hot and hearty. The server was very attentive and to our pleasant surprise the chef came to our table and asked about our food. Not sure if that would happen if the restaurant was full by it was a nice touch. We had to drive 50km to get there but we will be back.

We went on a Wednesday evening and that was a mistake the hamburgers that we got seemed to be pre-cooked and very dry and I believe they were counting on different sauces to make the burgers taste good they didnt because we didnt want the sauces. Its a beautifully done facility and the service was just Splendid. I dont think we will go back.

VERY VERY EXPENSIVE. My husband and I went for lunch. I got a 17 dollar quiche (broccoli, bacon and cheese) it was all broccoli very little bacon and NO EGG. Cesar salad was warm, I prefer mine cold. My husband had an 18dollar quesadilla and all the stuff fell out because of lack of cheese in it. Service was good

The food is always fantastic with exceptional service from Signa and the rest of the staff. Its so refreshing to find an establishment that you can be confident youll not only get great value but consistency as well.

We ve always had great meals at Schofields but tonight was disappointing! Veggies were barely cooked and cold. Prime rib was the only hot thing on my plate served with cold Yorkshire pudding. The waitress was lovely and offered to have my dinner remade but dinner put looses something if you have to eat your dinners one at a time. I was surprised no one came out to see how they could make things right. Won t be going back any time soon.

Friendly staff and amazing food

If busy the staff doesn t answer phone. So when you go in bad weather like rain you get soaked and find out they don t have any space. Suggest you change your telephone message to say you are booked at certain hours. This is a shameful experience you make people go through when disabled or have to walk an entire block in bad weather.

Ive eaten here before, and today I tried their Eggs Benedict. Absolutely amazing! It has to be on par with some of the best Eggs Benedicts out there! Cooked perfectly, and the sauce was divine! Will DEFINITELY order again!!!

This Bistro was a very nice find, they had excellent ambiance and the service was great and friendly. I had their brunch daily specials Benny with crab cake, it was delicious and the poached eggs were right on point!

I love the staff here ! She made my day, even though it was raining heavily as we drove from Waterloo and never been to port dover before , we just randomly picked a restaurant and it s amazing . We ordered an appetiser and also a fish and chips, to share. She assisted us in dividing two plates of French fries and each dish had a fried fish, even though we didnt ask her to do so, she knew we were going to share it and made us feel like they actually care about their customers. The food also tastes really good

Food: great. Service: atrocious. Wait staff were seems to have a heightened sense of unnecessary judgement. This individual was condescending, and entirely unhelpful. This came as a surprise for a town where we have had nothing but incredibly friendly individuals and interactions in Port Dover. Skip and use your $$ to support another local establishment.

Oh my. We had reservations and had a great table right in the front window. Our waitress was fantastic, very knowledgable and a good sense of humor. Now for the food-unbelievable- it was SO good. A wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Cant wait to go back!!!!!!

I recommend this restaurant. We had the best quesadillas we have ever had anywhere. Lots of cheese and chicken. Full of wonderful mushrooms that were cooked just right. The sweet potato fries were perfect, hot, and crisp. The soup of the day was piping hot, thick, and flavourful. The portions were large. Service was excellent. We will drive two hours to go there again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Sunday 18th of April, I read the menu outside the store and stepped in to place an order. I was confronted by a mid age aggressive woman...loudly...have you phoned your order? No. You have to go out for the menu...I read it and ready to place an order for the fish and ships.. you have to wait out till its ready... very aggressively....maam Im aware with the process...unfriendly...accordingly 0.00 $ tip...Hopefully lesson learned...mediocre quality food.

We had a terrific take out Lamb Shank anniversary dinner last evening. Everything travelled well. Cant wait to dine in again.

Had a Ramble Road something or other. Was quite good with mild hoppy notes at the end. Didnt eat but the food looked good. Only reason for the 4 star was their price was wrong for the beer. Charged $8 but menu said $6 so check your bills.

First time trying Schofields and they didnt disappoint. The meal was fantastic and the service friendly and fast. The portion size was wonderful as well. We left feeling stuffed for sure. Well be back indeed.

Tried Schoefields for breakfast recently. Server was in terrible mood and treated us with a complete lack of respect. Did not even order any food. Needless to say, we will not return. Interesting customer service in light of the challenges restaurants have faced due to Covid 19.

We have always truly enjoyed our experiences at Schofields in the past, but on Sunday we had a terrible time. We arrived as it opened for breakfast and were greeted ( no Good Morning) by a very loud, unfriendly lady who was rude and not at all helpful. She seemed angered by our questions and ended up walking away when I asked if my eggs could be fried. Since there was hardly anything on the menu I could safely eat ( dairy allergy) we left. Sooooo sad!

A great restaurant on the main street of Port Dover. Loved it. For lunch, I had 2 crab cake sliders and a fresh-made salad. It was just great, I really enjoyed it. Friends had the carrot-ginger soup and loved it, together a home-made quiche! Stop by!

Amazing. Pastas and salmon are fantastic. Have been using their take out service during COVID. Special are always awesome.

I live in London right now and my parents picked up takeout (burgers and Caesar salads) for my roommate and I a few weeks ago. The portions were extremely generous in size and everything was perfectly cooked. The Caesar salads were equally as good; the dressing had really great flavor. Since we live over an hour away, we obviously had to reheat everything but it was still as good as eating in the restaurant. I dont think Ive ever had such high quality takeout food before and Id definitely recommend for anybody still not comfortable staying to eat at restaurants!

Had a great evening there yesterday, food was great and the service even better. Looking forward to the next time. The Chicken Parm hit the spot and my wife loved the Salmon.

Burger was good, didnt like the bun, to bready, server was okay, however something was troubling her, she seemed off. Went for my 3rd time now, all was great. Good food and great service!

Usually come to PD for perch, but felt like something different -- glad to say I now have a new reason to head to Lake Erie! Excellent lunch today - be ready for a large amount though, needed take-away container for later. My only hope is they will add some of the local fresh fish to the menu!

We have been to Shcofields amny times in the past year. Usually for breakfast, we have also brought several guests with us to this restaurant. A couple of Sundays ago we again went for breakfast. I had the quiche, and my husband had the crab cake bennies. We were going to Niagara Falls for the evening, overnight my husband got extremely ill. Ended up taking him to emerg in the Falls. Sat there for four hours, and then was told he had food poisening. Advised it usually takes 10-14 hours to happen. As that is all he ate, and I did not, guessing it was the bennies. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with the Manager Mike Firstly he dismissed the issue, saying his kids ate that and they were fine and he had had no other complaints. He said he would sent me a gift certicate, not that that makes up for my husband being extremely ill for three days , but at least him doing that we felt we would go back there in the future. We dock our boat in Port Dover , and was looking forward to frequenting Schofields. However manager never did send us a gift certificate, so I guess our business is not that important to him. Several hundreds of us at the marina? Too bad because prior to this day we enjoyed both the staff and the food. Would rather have settled this with the manager then giving them a bad review. Sue

Great Food and Good service in the heart of Port Dover. I had the stuffed yorkie and a burger, they were fantastic. Lots of vegetarian options on menu. The dinner menu looks very good. My friends in Port Dover want me to come for the Sunday Brunch. Its on my list of things to do this summer. The prices are great in these small communities not like GTA.

Wonderful from beginning to end

Delicious! A pleasant surprise for sure. I never thought to go in out of all the times Ive been to Dover and if I hadnt searched crab cakes in Norfolk County I never would have until seeing the menu. There are many appealing dishes listed, we went for the first time yesterday and me, my spouse, and our toddler, all enjoyed the food. The service was fantastic and the bill was very reasonable. Well be going back again to try more of the menu!

Really good food and really great pricing. Needed more servers but I also never felt pressured to do anything, they let me take my time and I felt like my presence there wslas wanted. Overall, super recommend and hope to visit again to try more dishes.

Great eggs Benedict!

We had such a great brunch here yesterday. Everything was hot (which is important to me). The cheese, bacon and ham quiche was house made and amazing! The accompanying home fries - hot, crispy and delicious. Our guests had Farmers sausage breakfast and the Huevos Ranchero breakfast dish which were all large servings and really good. Great service too. Thank you. We will be back!

I had an excellent experience yesterday, Saturday, September 28th. Four of us dined there. It was busy and even though there was just the one server, she managed the situation very well and was friendly and very efficient. All of us were pleased with what we ordered. We will definitely return.

Overly priced for what you get

Duck with lentils dish as a main was reasonable but it basically was served cold. Should have send it back early but continued to finish it. Told the waiter about it at the end and they did comp the soup we had earlier. The soup was a cream of broccoli which was quite salty perhaps because of the cheese. The mussle is good. Very generous portion.

This was my first time there and I was very impressed with the attentive and friendly service we received. The food is good but not great enough to justify the relatively high prices. I dont mind paying a premium for good food,. I kind of felt I was just paying for the very nice ambience. I am a service-oriented guy, if I was able to give it a four-and-a-half star I would unfortunately I cancel have to give this place for stars instead of 5

My first dining experience at Schofields Bistro. Highly satisfying, simple and outstanding. Food is complex in PD and people talk about their faves. In my humble opinion, it s the best in PD. The decor reminds you of a Brooklyn eatery and the staff, is quiet, pleasant and highly knowledgeable. The food is seasoned perfectly and the desserts have just enough sweetness, but you catch the flavours. Many PD restaurants make fine food. Good wholesome food. You want to step out the box and taste what NYC tastes like, or the hipper parts of Toronto. This is where you should eat. Crab cakes, calamari was incredible, my grilled seafood was awesome and the chocolate cheesecake...wow. Can t wait to go back.

As a Port Dover resident, I do my best to support local businesses, but for Scholfields I will make an exception. I ordered a Cesare salad and the rack of lamb. Before I ordered I asked if the salad dressing was house made or bottled and was told it was made in house. After one bite it was clear that it was from a bottle. If I wanted that, I could have stayed home. The $32.00 rack of lamb consisted of four microspcoic lamb chops. When I voiced my discontent to the waitress she ignored me. When she came back I said I wanted her to tell the owner I was unhappy, she said he was in the kitchen and she would. When she came back she told me that in the future they were going to seek out a new supplier of lamb so they could offer bigger portions. Thats great for people that eat there in the future, for me it was the worst $186.00 Ive ever spent in a restaurant. Bottom line, there are better restaurants in Port Dover, restaurants that will actual address your concerns.

Overpriced for mediocre food. The setting is great, and enjoyable sitting on their patio. Weve been there 3 times now and are always less than impressed by the food. Last night was it. I guess its...3 times and youre out.

We had brunch and the staff was friendly, the food had flavor and presentation was great.

Went to the bistro after the Lighthouse theatre which is next store..the decor was lovely and the staff were very friendly and polite. The atmosphere was great as we had three young children and the others customers were okay with the noise. As for the food it too was very accommodating too both children and adults. It was quick and delicious. Nice portion size. Look forward to going there for dinner and a nice glass of wine.

Key like Cheesecake was actually delicious, the sound from the theater can be distracting but all in the food was great.

Hollandaise is from a package. Or whatever it comes in when you dont make it from scratch.

Stopped in for breakfast on a whim and my wife and I were absolutely blown away by the food. 10/10 the best breakfast both of us have ever had. And a bargain for what we got.

Food and service and atmosphere excellent for Sunday brunch. My crabcake eggs Benny was fantastic and the coffee was bang on. The perfect end to a weekend in Port Dover.

Ok food service was ok.

Good on them. The server made a mistake and I was provided a non vegan meal. But the kitchen staff and other server were very helpful in setting it right. Mistakes will happen, but when a place shows a constructive tone in the face of adversity it is very refreshing to see. They seemed a little unfamiliar with plant based cooking but were willing to improve on that front.

The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was very comfortable. My company really enjoyed them also.

I had a great meal here, as always. The staff are friendly, and are easily able to make menu suggestions. I had the prime rib special of the day, which was a huge portion and correctly cooked. They offer an interesting selection of beers, something for everyone including local microbrewery options. They also offer a great dessert menu. Schofields Bistro is the place to go for a meal in Port Dover.
