We are really appreciate our customers understanding and help us to Reduce waste materials In order to reduce consumer-related food waste in changes , Not only is food waste a serious environmental problem, but it Introducing 「pre-order」can be a solution to this problem. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding
In a world of Cactus Clubs and Earls' restaurants like this are sorely missed. It is not the best food to be found in Metro Vancouver, but it is very good and a good value for money. Service is outstanding. The concept is very interesting, instead of spending 10 mins pouring over a menu; pre-ordering like this makes dinner all about dinner. Also nice to be eating freshly prepared food rather than something made yesterday and warmed up in a microwave or stovetop. I really like the atmosphere, self-decorated rather than the usual restaurant ikea furniture. Pictures and drawings from the past instead of a TV showing yesterday's sports highlights. Place is about the food and about the dinner.
Exceptional service and food. From reservation to dining in, Jasmine was extraordinarily efficient with communication and excellent with her service even decorating our table with a happy birthday sign and confetti! She was extremely attentive and made my party which included a toddler feel welcomed and comfortable. All servers should learn from her. She was so kind and caring to my toddler even when he was running around. The food by Henry was all beautifully presented and delicious with different elements of texture and flavour and perfection in terms of doneness of our meats. We look forward to more celebrations at this gem of a restaurant!
If possible, I would give 10 stars. I made a reservation at Henry’s kitchen for our anniversary. They had arranged a very beautiful table for us. Food and desserts could not be better. Great service and a nice ambiance
The Missus and I have driven by Henry's Kitchen many times on St. Johns Street and always wanted to try. We were happy we finally did. Jasmine provided exceptional table service and tended to our needs. She has a very friendly demeanor and we had a nice chat. The food is freshly made after you arrive. One could taste the high quality of the food preparation. We thoroughly enjoyed our Caesar Salad, Crab Cake, Linguine Pescatora, German Pork Knuckle, Tiramisu and Chocolate Ganache. The homemade bread was a good way to start of our meal. The restaurant has limited hours. Reservations are required as well as preordering your meal to avoid food waste. There is plenty of parking in the area. We would highly recommend for a nice evening dinner.
You have to reserve and order ahead of time at Henry's. The menu is constantly changing. It seems like chef likes to try different things constantly but the trade-off is that there is a lack of consistency. A dessert that you like last time might not taste the same the next. There is a lot of care put into the food and service of this restaurant run by a sweet couple.
Henry's Kitchen is back open for dine in! Make sure you make a reservation via email with your preorders because that's the only way to get in! Everything was cooked perfectly and large portions for French cuisine! We had the duck breast, beef wellington as mains. Escargot and house made bread as starters. I highly recommend the duck! I'm so glad they're back open for dining in as ordering to go just wasn't the same. We will for sure be back again.
Our group reserved a table here, we also pre ordered few days in advance. Food doesn't get prepared till everyone in your group arrives. The food was amazing! Presentation was good and the taste was good. Service was amazing. Desserts were great too. Nice cozy little place with nice interior. Parking is around but may be tough depending on what time you go. I highly recommend this place! Thank you Henry's Kitchen!
Came here for dinner with my friends. Everything that we had was very tasty and fresh with rich flavours. I got the Lobster Taglierine which was stunning and my friend got the beef wellington which was perfectly done. The the service is excellent. Highly recommend and its important to make a reservation in advanced if you want to go and we ordered in advanced too. Will be back soon!
Great!!
You have to make reservations and order meal on line. It is a great place to eat.
Service was excellent and food was perfect. What an experience.
Best Pasta Ever
My husband and I went for the first time Valentines week. This is such a a special place! Every detail was exquisite... decor, personal touches, personal service and all the food was absolutely top notch. I ordered escargot and duck which Ive eaten many times at many high scale restaurants in states. These were the best Ive ever had...we will definitely be back!
My husband and I went here for my birthday. A friend recommended this place. WOW!!! It was amazing! My husband is in a wheelchair and they gave us a great, accessible seat and made sure we were very comfortable. The service throughout the night was impeccable. The food was excellent with flavors that were out of this world! Save room for dessert - crème brule and chocolate ganache were delicious and they put a sparkler and candle on my ganache - so fun! Highly recommend - we will be back! Wheelchair accessibility: Excellent. The bathroom was very good too!
Delicious meal with excellent service
Best food Ive had at any restaurant in the greater Vancouver area. Service was excellent.
Little hidden gem in Port Moody. Food made fresh to order, exceptional quality and taste.
Amazing cuisine and service
Good food good service amazing food. They do recommend pre ordering, which we did for the crab cakes and the beef wellington.
Wonderful meal. Love the pace of food. No rush main meal before starter finniehed. Amazing food.
Ready to try everything else on the menu. Delicious wellington, succulent quail, easy to drink sangiovese, great portions. Thank you for your service.
Great place to have dinner.
The Food is fresh, quality, French style cuisine that can t be beat! If they wanted to improve the business, focusing on the customer journey, and the atmosphere would bring the business to a new level of awesome - unparalleled in the area. You have to book through email, and you have to pre-order through email. This could easily be fixed by improving the website to be designed around the customer journey. The website could make this super easy, selecting the pre-orders, etc. and would not take much money. The restaurant, although serving top notch food with top notch service - needs a renovation bad. Approving the environment can certainly improve the experience. The price was on point, I would pay gladly what they charged for that meal every day of the week! It s been a day, and our friends are still talking about how good the food was ;-)
Wow the food is great. The service world class It s an experience that I will remember.
Booked a birthday dinner in advance. The Steak Wellington, Veal, and Confit Duck Legs are all great, the meat is tender and juicy, and the atmosphere is very warm . We also specially arranged birthday decorations and sent us birthday blessing desserts after the meal. Thank you very much for the delicious food and careful care you brought us
Amazing food.....will be back soon
Went here for my friend s birthday and it was absolutely an amazing choice , great fresh food, extraordinary service
The Valentine s Day special takeout was absolutely delightful!! Not only was the food a DREAM, the thoughtfulness of the presentation really brightened my evening. The food portions are generous, and the taste was fantastic!! my fiancé and I are mind blown and can t wait to continue to eat and support this magical place!!
An absolutely wonderful dining experience! Such a special spot, the food was amazing, service attentive, ambience 11/10. An extremely thoughtful gesture for my BFs birthday, of decorations and a complimentary dessert. Have already recommended to friends and family and will be back soon again!
Wow, quickly one of our favorite places. So glad theyre open again for dine in, its a fantastic experience, and the most fresh and flavorful dishes!
Very unique place, perfect for intimate dining. The food is of the absolute highest quality, so good that Im struggling to think of a comparable location nearby. Its not a normal restaurant though, so expect something unique here. There are two people that work here, no more and no less. You need to email them with your dinner order and reservation so they can prep your meal in advance. Saw some reviews mention the wait time, we didnt experience any issues there. Very friendly, very welcoming, no waiting. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice dining experience different from the same ol same ol
I made a reservation here for my husband s birthday and it was so sweet they had decorations at the table for him! You really can t find an establishment like this anymore; such great hospitality! I had the beef bourguignon and my husband had the duck confit. The portions are great and everything was cooked perfectly! We didn t mind that you had to place your order in advance. They also ended dinner off with a birthday dessert! We would definitely recommend this place.
Unassuming little place, but oh man what a meal! Would have easily been double the price downtown. Also love the preordering to reduce food waste. The food was excuisite and the service was so warm and attentive. We cant remember the last time we had such large portions in a fine dining restaurant. We couldnt finish our 3 courses even at a slow pace and having not eaten since an early lunch. The food was perfect. The home made bread had the crunchiest crust but was so soft and fluffy inside. The stuffed chicken was to die for. Were pretty sure the smoked salmon in our pasta was smoked in house. Incredible!
Amazing food, the beef wellington was amazing!
Fantastic food! I had the duck confit which was tender and delicious. The other picture is one of the chicken dishes
good food. great service
I couldnt say that Ive had a tastier plate of food of late with the melt-in-your-mouth beef, veggies, rice-like pasta, some side salad, capped with a yummy off the menu dessert.
Absolutely outstanding food and service. Will be back again!
Amazing experience
We had a minor issue with our meal. They resolved it in the restaurant on the spot. Then, a few weeks later, still remembering our visit, wrote us an email explaining the full detail of the situation. The customer service of this place is sublime. You have my loyalty and I will be back again.
My wife and I have been to the Henrys a few times and have always enjoyed it. The service and the food are both excellent. This time, due to the pandemic, they were closed for dining in and we ordered pick-up for ourselves and two friends. Again the food was excellent and as a bonus was there was enough food for two nights. Kudos to Jasmine and crew.
One of my favourites! This restaurant is easy to miss, as it is located on St Johns Street in Port Moody and is quite small and quaint. However, the key is the food. Its pretty reasonably priced for cuisine of its quality and calibre. More importantly, its very delicious. When I was there, I ordered a beef wellington and duck confit. The beef wellington was soft, the pastry was crispy and fresh, it is definitely second to none from my other experiences in the Lower Mainland. The other day, I ordered takeout and got the sablefish and scallops dish, which was also pretty delicious. The scallops were juicy and the sablefish was tender and flavourful. Not to mention, when I opened the take out bags I noticed a free piece of cheesecake which was a fantastic surprise! I would highly recommend this restaurant, as it is quite a treat.
Bev and I both enjoyed the full fare, including Veal and Duck entrées. Savouring the red cabbage in mint sauce was a really nice surprise, but everything was very flavourful. We dont dine out very much, but from a social distance pick-up, Henry and Jasmine made my birthday quite special; thank you.
Henry and Jasmine do an awesome job. My family love this restaurant and are sad that we cant visit, but believe me when I say that this place has done the best job EVER at pivoting during covid. We order our food, pick up at the appointed time, pay and of course tip because these guys deserve it. I know Henry is very particular about taste and aesthetics and he has maintained his high standards for both with his take out. They think of everything. Food comes beautiful, hot and very tasteful. We are a family of 4, two twenty somethings and two fifty somethings and we are all very happy :) Henrys kitchen even accommodates a family members numerous allergies, just make sure to ask when ordering. We do miss the front of the house experience as Jasmine always made our evenings special, her smile is infectious and we still cant replicate her gin and tonics. This is quality food that wont break your bank account. It is a true gem hidden in Port Moody. You will not be disappointed with the food and service at Henrys. Just waiting for when we can be together and dine in again. Miss you guys.
We ordered out anniversary dinner from Henry s tonight and it was outstanding. Beef bourguignon for my wife and I had the linguine carbonara. Huge portions and piping hot. We have dinner for tomorrow from leftovers. Support these guys they are awesome
I emailed on Friday to pre-order our anniversary dinner for pickup from Henrys Kitchen on Sunday. They were very prompt in responding and confirming right away. Then something came up and we had to push our anniversary dinner to the following Friday instead. Henrys was extremely accommodating and didnt make a fuss about the change at all. We ordered French Onion Soup; West Coast Seafood Chowder; Magret de Canard a LOrange Duck Breast; and Carre DAgneau a la Provencale Rack of Lamb and everything was fantastic! Huge portions and the food was still very hot and delicious by the time I got it home. They even surprised us by including dessert for our anniversary The set up for pick up is very efficient and I would definitely recommend ordering from them, but I also cant wait until they are open for Dine In again, so we can eat at the restaurant again.
FOOD QUALITY AND PRESENTATION WERE ALL PERFECT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Great, fresh and prepared food and desserts
Small personalized service. Great food and reasonably priced.
You need to eat here. Henry and Jasmine have chosen a very unique business model. They are focused on quality vs quantity. Their rules may seem strange in their website but they are well intended. If you can pre order do. If not, what they have on hand, no matter what it is, is delicious. Everything is made in small quantities and fresh. Henry plays with all of the senses. Everything is creatively plated, a balance of flavour with pops of delight across your plate to highlight main features of the dish. The food is rich but light and delicate. The beef bourguignon is deep but not overwhelmed with onions. The penne fettuccine is light and emulsification of the sauce holds throughout the meal. The quality of the Parmesan brings you back to eating in a local Cucina in Bologna. The desserts are playful. A delightful way to finish your food experience. The food quality and plating is worth at least twice the price on the menu. This is better quality than high end restaurants down town charging double or triple the price. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
Really nice
Very good food and great value
What an amazing pasta place. Came here on a recommendation from several people. Lovely family owned restaurant (I think) that serves fantastic food. Everything was cooked perfectly and was extremely flavourful. If you want to come you do need a reservation, which can be difficult to book on Fri, Sat, and Sun s if you don t book far enough ahead of time. But it s quieter on weekdays (Wed and Thurs) and easier to book. Can t wait to come back to try more things on the menu.
Delicious, and good service.
We enjoyed the Valentines special menu here. Terrific food and the best presentation that weve seen in years. Friendly, genuine service.
Exellent food and service
Regular food with expensive price.
First time here and it wont be my last. A small intimate restaurant that has a French themed menu but has an extensive pasta list as well . The service and food was excellent. The wine pour was extremely generous as well as the serving sizes of entrees.
Fantastic food beautifully presented and attentive service. Great value and quality for the price
Fabulous
Didnt actually get to eat here because they only take reservations which would have been nice to know before going.
Excellent food rendition of 80s cuisine, rich and flavourful.
Quaint atmosphere with wonderfully homemade cuisine
Decor is old fashion, but food is excellent!!
This restaurant is amazing! I usually have the escargo and the pasta alapana. For dessert I would highly recommend the cremebrule. Well the food does take a while to come, it is well worth the wait and I can understand why the restaurant is so busy and it is so hard to get a reservation.
Wow. All the hype is legit. Unassuming and humble decor and attitude, yet the food is anything but. Great presentation and taste. Definite return visit. The Caesar salad is off the hook. Beef Wellington and lobster tagliani are sublime.
The food is delicious, parking is convenient, and the environment is good.
Where talent meets table. Have patience when visiting here.
Carbonara was super delish!
Waste of time. It was not mentioned that is reservation only.
Fine dining as it should be! Fantastic food, service and no rushing!
Far, far better than you would expect for a tiny, unassuming, family-run restaurant in the historic heart of Port Moody. Perfect for a special occasion.
Delicious as usual.
Reservations only. Great food and service. Had the beef Wellington which is done medium-rare. Very good!
Very good elegantly presented great spot for a special occasion great selection on food wines everything . I have lived in the tri citys most of my life never knew of this place glad my gf found it on google will definitely be going again
Absolutely delicious meal! I ve driven by so many times and never really noticed the place, the signage didn t really match the type of food they have but inside it has a quaint mom and pop feel. This is a reservation only place and be prepared to enjoy a slow meal as everything is prepared fresh by the owners. However with appetizers and wine we weren t in a rush for the entree. Beef bourgignon was so tender and flavourful. We would be back for another special occasion.
Amazing gem in our city! The food and staff were great
The food is amazing
Amazing experience at this little bistro. Went in with low expectations.. decor could use a little touch up. Ha! But went for the food. I was totally blown away. It exceeded my expectations in every way. Every bite was delicious. We tried 3 appetizers, split an entree, and finished up with 2 desserts. Everything was delicious. Server was kind and attentive. We will definitely be back!
It is a joy to have a five star restaurant that prepares freshly made, expertly prepared meals by a Chef who whose mastery and talent create taste excellence.
This place is a hidden gem in Port Moody we had the escargot , French onion soup , filet mignon and filet de veau They were all cooked to perfection Even the crème brûlée was amazing Defeneilty coming back and recommending this place
Amazing food that is meticulously prepared. The duck breast, mushroom risotto, house made bread, linguine pescatora were all excellent. Prices are reasonable. Wish I could go every night. Reservation only.
I havent been to Henrys Kitchen since I use to work close to their previous location over 8 years ago. Jasmine was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. We were all impressed with the dishes and I have to say, my duck confit was possibly the best Ive ever had. Forget all the big chains, support this small gem in the heart of Port Moody.
Had our first dinner at Henrys last night and couldnt be happier with our experience. The food is first class, certainly didnt expect such a high calibre of food in a small Port Moody venue, what a treat. I had the braised beef and my wife had the seafood pasta. The service was perfect attentive but not over bearing. This is not a fast in and out but if you are looking for a great experience, dont hesitate to try it out.
Funky place, fabulous food beautifully presented, delicious desserts in a casual dining atmosphere.
Great food. Relaxing atmosphere. Be prepared to wait though as everything is homemade. Best to make reservation.
Its really a kitchen but a restaurant. We were guests not customers at the kitchen. We were served as their old friends.
Henrys Kitchen Pasta and Grill is truly a hidden gem within the City of Port Moody! This mom and pops Italian food restaurant brings friendly service with classic Italian pastas with will definitely leave you smiling and satisfied. My recommendations for dishes to try out at this little sweet restaurant is the linguine polio olio and the beef wellington! Both will leave you wanting more after you taste true excellence! - Matt D
Henry s Kitchen is an amazing restaurant in Port Moody. The Italian cuisine is made perfectly, just thinking about it makes me salivate. Especially the noodles, those were excellently cooked. I definitely recommend the Beef Wellington, it s a real 10 out of 10!
I went with a group of nine. Service was fantastic and the food was amazing. Definitely make sure to reserve, its worth the effort.
Best beef Wellington Ive ever had. Excellent Carbonara. Great price for the quality and portion. The only downside that you need to reserve in advance, but it will definitely be worth it.
Amazing food. Truly. Have had the veal tenderloin and the beef Wellington. Friendly service. Reservation only so relaxed dinner pace. Dessert is also incredible. All food items are made fresh.
First time eating there, everything is well beyond our expection. We live the food, the relazing dining style and the reasonable price !
Excellent meal. Need reservations. Come prepared to spend time. The way it should be. Authentic food and lovely service. Thank you.
First time attending Henrys Kitchen, smaller restaurant and you require to make reservations. The GOOD: Food was excellent (French and Italian cuisine), ambience is good for a funky little place, polite and courteous service, food was fresh and the pasta dishes were reasonably priced and some specials of the day which are not on their menu. The BAD: Service is slow as they had 1 waitress for the whole restaurant, she did an excellent job, but not sure if that is normal to have only one working, it is a tad pricey on dishes as this is Port Moody and the wine was pricey, Berringer Merlot $35 per bottle, we had two bottles (table of 4) as we were waiting for our dinner to arrive. I have attached some photos, crab cakes and a pasta dish. Recommend the pasta dishes as the pasta is made fresh on premises. Overall a good experience! Table of four we spent $225.00
Get that reso however you can and eat at this place. Food is amazing!
Went there as a recommendation from some friends and took their advice to make a reservation and order ahead. Walking in there was a little weird oder however it is a older building so to be expected. There was 1 server working and it was a full house still she was very attentive, and I was very impressed with the service. Food was amazing we had a Caesar salad and some bread which both were very good then for dinner the Beef Wellington and Carbonara both excellent then split a cream brûlée for dessert. Even with all of that we had a beer and wine and 2 coffees and came to $100 which I think is very reasonable. Overall had a really nice anniversary dinner and will be going back!
Oh its amazing! First time coming and will go back absolutely! Make reservation is highly preferred and actually only reservation is allowed.:)
The food was amazing!
Absolutely delicious! The menu here is really exotic and delightful. The food in overall is excellent and it really stands out of the common restaurant scene in town. Great selection of wine and desserts as well. Reservations are required.
My business deals with restaurants so I have gone to many and I can honestly say that Henrys Kitchen is truely one of the best dining experiences Ive ever had. I had the Linguine Pollo Pesto and the chicken was very juicy and the pesto was so fresh. I will drive from Vancouver to Moody just to go again. Its a warm family restaurant.
Very Romantic :) service was superb and pasta was amazing and filling!!
Excellent food and value. Gem of a restaurant. Family run, very nice people, service directly from owner lady. We had the duck confit which was delicious and our favourite. Everything we had on the menu was good. Constantly busy and run by one lady which is quite impressive but dont expect a fast in and out meal. Very much a sit down relax atmosphere.
Dont judge a book by its cover... Although the decor appears a little tired, the quality and presentation of the food is fantastic. Qudos to the chef!
Henrys kitchen just became my favorite restaurant. Delicious food with amazing flavours.
Great French food, affordable price
This is an interesting concept kitchen with only one server and I believe one chef in the kitchen. Dining here is reservations only and youre encouraged the pre-order a head of time so the chef can order just the right amount of food. Based on the reviews we wanted to give this restaurant a try. Jasmine who runs the front of the house and is the only server actually does a fairly good job at serving guest considering its just her. The dated decor didnt bother me as much as the VERY strong smell of moth balls (the smell sticks to your clothes long after) which lingers throughout the restaurant. It definitely impacted the food experience because the fragrance is so strong. The food just took far too long to be served. Our appetizers took 20mins which was okay but our mains took another hour after that to leave the kitchen. The food had a good flavor and seasoned well. The biggest problem everyone had with the dishes was the cook of the pasta. It was just under done not yet Al dente so it was chewier than it should be. We were all too hungry by then to wait for it to be fixed. I have a feeling the cook for the pasta is a preference of the chef as it was the same for all our pasta dishes. They claim that the longer wait time is to ensure quality of the food and reducing food waste helps them provide higher quality food for less. Honestly I didnt feel their pricing was less than any other restaurant out there and I wasnt blown away by the quality that Id want to come back to go through the wait and the moth ball smell again. It was an average experience overall. Nothing terrible happened but nothing that blew us away either.
This restaurant is looking for a dishwasher , based on the reviews on this place makes it very easy to decide to work here . I havent tried this place , I plan to . If I work here as a dishwasher Ill lnow how good the food really is. It sounds like its run by a chinese family thats really great when they take an interest in Italian and French cuisine.
Dont be fooled by the casual name or the misspellings on the menu. The food is great and the service friendly. The food comes out slowly but you are warned on the menu and by the wait staff.
Food is good but not amazing. I would happily eat it again as it is better than any chain restaurant Italian food. However the service is soooooooooo slow that it becomes painful. They should really hire one extra staff for both the kitchen and front of house. The decor is also outdated, not in a hipster whats old is new again fashion, just simply old. As though they did not redecorate when moving into the unit which is as previously a seafood restaurant
Quality food, attentive service, clean decor. A welcome addition to Port Moody!
Absolutely scrumptious meal. My favourite is their angelhair pesto pasta, made fresh with basil. To conclude with a delightful apple tart, I would bring recommend to any foodie.
It was amazing we could find and eat such delicious pasta in Port Moody. This hidden French and Italian pasta restaurant located on St. Johns Street has street parking. We walked into the restaurant without any customers. A server seated us right away. Her service was great knowing that it was our first time to eat here and letting us know what was special and what we should try. We ordered mussels with white wine, tomatoes and herbs as appetizers and our main dishes were Penne Alfredo and Linguine Pescatora. Penne Alfredo was just a simple dish of penne with white creamy sauce and Parmesan cheese, but OMG! It was extraordinarily delicious! Chef Henry could cook this simple dish so well that I could 100% guarantee it is hard to find such a good simple dish in Greater Vancouver. Linguine Pescatora was full of seafood (shrimps, mussels, clams, scallops, and calamari) in a light spicy tomato sauce. The seafood was fresh (not frozen ones) and the texture of linguine was firm and chewy. Everything was irresistible. We would love to visit this restaurant and try other dishes in the near future. It was worth a trip to come all the way to Port Moody and eat the pasta here. (This pasta restaurant was originally located in Vancouver West.).
Henrys Kitchen is a very welcome addition to Moody Centre, an area sorely lacking in quality restaurants. Great food at a reasonable price, and family friendly. Our favorites so far are the Penne Alfredo and Linguini Pescatora.
Husband and I were looking for Italian but didnt want to stand in the line up at Rosas. This warm little restaurant hit date night out of the park. The perfect combination of French and Italian cuisine presents fine dining without feeling overly stuffy. Run by a husband and wife team you get the sense of passion being put into the restaurant and more specifically, the food. Oh, the food. I had the Veal Piccata. It being one of my favourite meals, Im somewhat picky and found this one of the tastiest in Vancouver. On par with Don Francescos in downtown if not better. Husband had the Beef Bourguignon. Rich, delicate, flavourful. Everything was layed out beautifully, and as husband says , everything made sense on the plate and added to the overall experience. Served with a risotto, that very much couldve stolen the show but complimented the medallions perfectly. We will make this one of our regular spots. Highly recommend.
Wait was a bit long, but food was fantastic
Food was excellent and so was service. I would come again.
The food was average at best, but worth a visit, I guess. We started with a lobster arancini, mussels, and their bread made in-house. The arancini was one of the better dishes we had that evening. The flavour was good and it had a nice crunch to it, but I couldnt really tell that it had lobster in it if not for the prominent and inedible lobster shell sticking out the top. Their mussels were steamed in a great tomato broth. However, a thin broth doesnt stick to the meat unlike a thicker cream sauce. Furthermore, the mussels themselves didnt taste fresh and were mushy. The bread was extremely soft and the balsamic reduction was delicious. Our tables duck breast and veal tenderloin was overcooked. Still, the texture of the duck breast was excellent, however it didnt taste like much. The supposed orange sauce that the duck was to be served with was barely noticeable and did not stand out all. The tenderloins flavour was uninspiring and flat, but the potatoes it was served with tasted overwhelmingly like cheap truffle oil. The third entree, the beef shank, was comforting and was stewed to a delicious tenderness. Lastly, the lemon tart and tiramisu did not seem like it was made in-house. The lemon was too sweet and the meringue on top was unsubstantial. The tiramisu felt inauthentic and seemed more of a sponge cake. Given the exceedingly average food served, service, and atmosphere, I see no way that Henrys Kitchen could be considered a good value. Dont let their high ratings set your expectations high; make a reservation and taste for yourself but dont subject yourself to a second time.
Great food and warm personable service. All 4 of us enjoyed the food and the experience of dining at Henrys Kitchen!
My husband and I started eating at Henrys two months ago. On our first visit I made a reservation for his birthday, before we had even ordered dessert (The Lemon Tart is just lovely). The lobster pasta and pork medallions were excellent and the portions were a little larger than in more expensive restaurants. Their prices are very reasonable, especially when you take into consideration the freshness and quality of the ingredients. We have eaten there a number of times since, and plan on working our way through the menu. MAKE A RESERVATION, they fill up fast. P.S. The house red is a very nice French wine.
This place is amazing! It is tiny, so make sure you have a reservation. The food was fresh, beautiful, and delicious. Service is a little on the slow side, but that is only because everything is made fresh to order. Will definitely be back!
Awsome French Italian cuisine. Family own casual restaurant. Fairly good wine selection. Slow but excellent service.
Food was bad. The portions are good, however it was both too oily to the point where it was a soup at the bottom, and the pasta was undercooked, actually hard. No seasoning as I had to salt the dish. At $13 you dont even get garlic bread with the meal which is basically signature at any pasta place. Skip here just go to spaghetti factory or anywhere. Sorry. They got two star for the portions and the place actually seemed romantic with good wine selection.
Henrys Kitchen used to be in Vancouver before it moved out East. Freshly made pasta dishes. Thats what I would stick to ordering here. And yes, things look a bit dated but thats how long the chef has been cooking for. A neighborhood gem.
Classic French/Italian dishes. Simple food cooked well. Didnt get fresh Parmesan on my pomodoro sauce though. Small complaint on what is a quaint and delightful little restaurant.
This is a restaurant that you need to just relax and eat , meals are great , service is always with one sever that is the owners wife and knows how to take care of the room . Its a great place, small but works
Weve dined at Henrys Kitchen three times since they opened in December of 2016. As a perfect example of you cant judge a book by its cover, the simple store front and dining area hide the gourmet tastes offered by Henry. Once you get to know the owner couple, Jasmine and Henry, youll realize the attention they put into what they offer. Everything must be fresh and homemade. The restaurant style is hard to decipher from reading the menu. My take is that it is a fusion of French, Italian with a minor Asian twist. Its style is more like those small restaurants nestled in a small European town: It is intimate and you always order either the land or sea special-of-the-day without a second thought. After three meals there, my favourites are their homemade smoked salmon, pesto angel-hair pasta and grilled lamb chops. I dont eat deserts, but my family devoured their cheese cakes and apple crumbles like bears to a honey. Their only drawback so far is the lack of a liquor license to offer wine with your meal. Apparently, the application is pending, so hopefully they can close this drawback soon. Update on July 28, 2017: Well, they secured their liquor license and the wine selection is very good. We frequent Henrys Kitchen approximately 3 times a month now and the dining experiences continue to impress us. They are becoming so popular now that youll need a reservation to dine there on weekends.
This is not your standard restaurant experience. Go with people you like to spend time with, and expect to be there a while. We were there two hours. Henrys wife will greet you, seat you, and take your orders. Make sure to order something to sip while you chat with your companions, and appies to tide you over while Henry prepares your meal from scratch. I ordered one of the evenings specials, a lobster pasta, and it was both wonderfully presented and delicious! I had a lovely time and I think everyone should take some time to slow down, relax, and give this place a try.
Excellent Italian food!!
Went to Henrys for the first time the other day and was blown away by this restaurant. Theres nothing quite like this place in Port Moody. Arrived around 5:30 on a weekday almost every table but one had a reservation sign on it. Luckily we got the last one not reserved. They have signs on the front door letting people know that its encouraged to make a reservation as it isnt a very large restaurant. There are only two people working, a husband and wife team, wife is the server and the husband cooks. They have a small kitchen and was informed he can only cook a few dishes at once but its worth the wait. I had ordered the duck breast. It was delicious one of the best duck breast I have had in the lower mainland. If youre looking for an amazing meal in a cozy place I would recommend Henrys but call for a reservation.
Excellent upscale dining with a top rate chef.
Tried lunch menu. Duck breast and sausage linguine. Duck is good , the mashed potato n veggie is very tasty, sauce is good as well. linguine good but sausage a bit dry, not too tasty n spicy though the menu said spicy, but not to mistaken as bad. Also tried three different salads , good but nothing special. As my previous reviews, comments took the price of dishes into consideration Ps very popular place in Port Moody. Make reservations prior especially if dinner
The service and the food was not that great. The fish in the sandwich was okay but the bread was very oily. The spaghetti was not cooked ( the noodle was kind of hard) and the seafood in it was not fresh at all.
One of the best restaurants in the Tri-city area. Wonderful and fresh French/Italian food at and excellent price for the portion. Reservations are required and it make take some time to get your main course but it is very worth the wait.
The best duck confit in town
