Aroma Indian Restaurant & Lounge in Port Moody

Cute little restaurant. The owner/chef was our host/server for lunch. He was so kind and courteous! We were there for a work lunch, and most of us (including me ) have never been there before. He helped explain the different dishes. We ordered an assortment of dishes. Butter chicken, pakora (delicious) and a few rice dishes and this appy of fish that were coated and I could have eaten the entire plate and 2 types of Naan. we ended with chai tea and this variation of donut.(round dessert with a syrup). I cant remember all the dishes but I would definitely go there again! give it a try! I forgot to take photos this time

We ordered Malai Kofta and roti. The malai kofta were tasting bad and stale. Worst food, will never order from this restaurant.

Food is always yummy but felt a bit rushed out this evening. That being said, it was near the end of the night. Needs some updates in the washroom but cute place.

Everything here was very fresh and delicious! You can definitely tell they use whole/fresh spices in their dishes. Tried their World Famous butter chicken but with lamb instead of chicken. Was afraid it would be gimmicky but it was probably the best Ive had in the city so far. Also recommend their Aloo Paratha, crispy exterior with warm spiced potato in between. Heavenly! Mango Lassi was very refreshing, great mango flavours and not too overpowering in spices. Service was very friendly as well. Will definitely be back! Within walking distance of Moody Centre skytrain or there is plenty of free parking in the plaza.

One of the best Indian restaurant in Tri-Cities. A family owned business where you can consistently enjoy fresh and delicious food. Ive been going there for a bout 3 years now and would highly recommend.

This was the first time eating here. My wife and I came from Ontario and stumbled onto this place. They treated us very well. The food was delicious.

Worst worst experience very bad taste here , I have ordered panner pkora and there was no taste , I just eat little bit of it and was too much expensive, 13$ only for 6 pieces and staff also quite rude just making money with worst taste , they just put the price in the menu and dont think that how people work hard to earn money and they just getting it providing like this food how I spend 19 dollor over here with no taste so bad

Great tasting food, must have butter chicken! Staff is friendly too Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian and even vegan options as well, must ask for vegan options and let them know as they put dairy in some of the vegetarian dishes otherwise. Parking: Shared parking lot in the plaza. Kid-friendliness: Accommodating for all sizes families, they have booster seats and baby chairs as well.

One of the few businesses I can think of that is doing really well post-pandemic. Despite moving to a new location Aroma is still consistent with the quality of their food. Vegetarian options: The Palak paneer is a great vegetarian dish, there are also good vegan dishes.

I tried Aroma at their old location many years ago (take out) and thought that the food was just ok so I didnt go back. However, I was recently craving Indian food so I decided to try it again at their new location and noticed a huge improvement. I dont know if anything has changed (other than location) or if the day I originally ordered was a off day for the chef, but we have ordered twice since because the food was so good. I also like their online ordering feature which makes it super easy and convenient. We will definitely be back!

Amazing food. The owner is very friendly and engaged with guests. Regulars are usually treated very well. They will do a Canadian Hot or Indian Hot scale for spicy, but they really, really mean it if you go full Indian Hot - be prepared for true spice, and most will likely need to work their palette up to it over time. Some live performances typical in the (weekend?) evenings, but most of it is light music and unobtrusive to your meal. Good vegetarian options and impressive variety of Naan flavours.

The best chicken korma I have ever had!

Visited Aroma for the first time recently as we live in Burnaby. The food was excellent very fresh and tasty. The service was great the young guy who served us was very polite. We spoke to the owner who was very friendly and told us a little bit about the place. We will definitely return as we love indian food. Highly recommend

I sometimes order delivery from this restaurant and the food is solid. They recently moved within Port Moody to a more convenient location right across Moody Centre Station, which makes takeout easier if I am taking transit - a good move in my opinion.

Meh, nothing great. We ordered the Paneer Makhni - Indian hot spice level, but it seemed like theyve emptied a whole box of grated green chilies into the gravy. We had to add around 50g of butter to make it eatable. The samosa was oily. Disappointing.

Have been coming here since they opened (must be close to 20 years now?). Always fantastic. My favorite dishes are the chicken korma, vegetable Manchurian, samosas, garlic naan, lamb vindaloo and seekh kebab. So good! Moved away for a few years and have now moved back to town, so excited to become a regular again. The chicken korma is my all time favorite curry. Vegetarian options: Tons of vegetarian options, heaps of variety too.

Ordered take out this time. Order was ready right when they said it would be. And hot and delicious as every time before! Great choices on the Menu. Best East Indian food ever ! Highly recommend trying this restaurant. You will become a regular if you do !

DISGUSTING FOOD We just visited this place right now, everything about this place was disgusting. We ordered Chicken Vindaloo, Kadhai Paneer, Chicken Chilli Dry, Chicken Seekh Kebab. Nothing was fresh. Over priced for this disgusting food. In chicken Vindaloo- Gravy just had tomato paste in it, no salt, no masala. Chicken had weird smell. Kadhai Paneer- it almost had same taste as chicken Vindaloo gravy. Quantity was not sufficient. Chicken Chilli Dry- It was all tomato sauce. No taste. Chicken Seekh Kabab- It was frozen chicken put into some veggies. The chicken was cold from inside. How and Why are you serving this food on plate??!! I will never ever recommend visiting this place ever.

Worst experience of having Indian food ever. I ordered kadai paneer and naan. It was just full of orange colour. There was no spice no taste nothing. Please don t serve such disgusting Indian food and present to the people who are coming with some hope of having good food. Interior was also very boring very old. I don t know why I haven t been here more often. The menu is excellent, something for everyone. The food is incredible, prepare your taste buds. The service is great and very welcoming. Highly recommend the Paneers and ofc the Butter Chicken, it s so good! I do wish they d offer more of the local beers but the Sleemans Honey Brown was perfect with the meal.

Food was decent, not amazing though. Unfortunately, I found a piece of metal in my naan during my take-out meal. It appeared as though it was a bristle from a metal brush that fell off. I emailed the restaurant, and did not get a response. Would not eat again just from a safety concern.

Heavy use of food colors and all curries taste quite similar. Would personally not recommend at all.

today my sister told me to try a new indian restaurant and i decided to give this hidden gem a try and the aroma of the food is wonderful, i had the juicy calamari with butter chicken and garlic naan overall i did take out and i enjoyed every bite of the food!!! too good!! Rakesh is honestly the worst decision this store would have made. The store and service was much smoother when the store owner was around. The current manager doesn t even wanna give napkins for takeout orders! So rude and he doesn t even own the place! Amazing saff( other than the stupid manager) until the owner comes back, i wont be spending a dime here!

I went here for lunch with my family and each member of my family got sick. I think it is very slow restaurants and they are serving old food. Highly not recommended.

They served me old food for lunch and I immediately got food poisoning when I left! The restaurant is not busy so I think they are not serving safe and fresh food. I feel terrible now!!

I called 5 mins before they closed and they were still willing to take my order. I ended picking up the food 20 mins after closing time and they still greeted me with smiles. Butter chicken was amazing, got it with naan, and special chicken naan which was amazing too. Awesome service and awesome food. Def coming back again.

I had take out, this is a very popular spot for all my out of town family that comes to visit. This is the first place they want to go for dinner. The food is great, and you can always discover a new item on the menu that you havent tried yet, and its still fabulous.

The food was really good! We had everything at a medium spice level, and it was kind of mild but still nicely spiced and flavoured. The staff were really nice and our food came incredibly quickly. The place also looks really nice inside and out. I d recommend the shahi paneer.

Difficulties with so many deliveries, Im giving up. Too bad, great food if they can make it work, probably best to dine in. Im done with them, but you should enjoy!!

Whether dining in or taking out, Aroma is a culinary gem. I had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic restaurant last night and the food was not only incredibly tasty but also served in large, satisfying portions allowing all of us at the table to take food back home. What also sets this restaurant apart is the lovely service. The staff were attentive (refilling my water constantly), friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The owner, who also served as our host, took the time to explain why they had to move to their new location. They have been at the current spot for an impressive 13 years, and after tasting their food, I can understand why they have such a loyal following. If youre not in the mood to dine in, I highly recommend ordering takeout there when you next feel like Indian food.

I stopped by Aroma a few weeks ago for dinner. This was my first visit to the restaurant. The restaurant is located in Port Moody in a beautiful part of the city. The restaurant has a beautiful large patio which allows you to enjoy your meal outdoors depending on the season. Indoors there is ample seating available. There is ample parking available as well. Service was friendly and prompt. We ordered several options from the menu and enjoyed our meal. I would stop by again. We did enjoy the butter chicken.

So once again (times 10) - ordered Papadam with red and green chutney - got the Pomadam and no chutney ??? Cant be that at tough can it...? Our butter chicken is really more of a tomato chicken - depending on the night. Lamb was cooked well but again the sauce was watery. Called to ask why and the owner said he was too busy to talk about it and will call me tomorrow. Ill post agai after he calls me.

The menu is extensive providing lots of delicious choices. The staff is very helpful in assisting the guests to make the right choice based on food restrictions they may have. Aroma is lovely Indian Restaurant with scrumptious food. Try the lamb biriyani, you will love it. Top off your meal with a hot Gulab Jamun. Happy to meet its charming owner Mr Bhatt.

Terrible customer service. Waited a long time before anyone received us from the entrance. Also, we were served chicken from several days before along with the customers beside us. Never going again.

Delicious food! Lovely chai tea, samosas to die for and just very good environment. They had magicians and live entertainment pre-covid which I don t think has come back yet but overall lovely people and environment especially for more formal celebrations!

Of course Im typical and had butter chicken it was very tender and perfectly cooked, I asked for mild AND IT WAS! ALSO ordered a mutter paneer which was also delicious if youre a cheese lover I highly recommend. I havent been here since I was a teenager and Im so happy this place is still around highly recommend ! <3

The worst customer service, they removed food from order and didnt report that to us, there is 6 of us here and not enough food here for us all. When we called we were told we were at fault and it wast never on there. So all of us will be posting 1 star to drop your rating as you deserve it. Hope you go out of business. Bye.

The owner yells at his employees. The food tastes great but they forget parts of your orders. They did not have an plough in stalk and instead of replacing it or calling us they took it off the order. There was 6 of us and not enough food to eat. When I called him he said that it was never there. When I contacted door dash they said it was and they will refund us the money. Will not order here again. Sad thay the service is so bad and the owner is so mean to his employees.

If youre willing to pay a bit more for some amazing curry then you have found the right place with the excellent customer service, and as this is on Skip the Dishes its never to far away. Not to mention they have some pretty good deserts as well.

Ordered chicken biryani on Uber eats - boiled chicken from yesterday, mixed with some random spices for no rhyme or reason. Its just disappointing that some Indian restaurants just cant get even the most basic/staple Indian dishes right. Dont waste your money here.

Good food BUT dont go there at lunch. It is a dark, dingy poorly lit environment, more conducive to a night out. They also do not have any noon specials and as every item is additional cost, from naan, to rice, the cost of a lunch is about $25. NOT REASONABLE portion sizes not large enough to share. Management is rude.

I ordered a chicken dish with skip the dishes, for $22 I only got some pieces of chicken in a bowl of sauce. No rice, no veggie side, no bread, nothing. Total rip-off and of course not even a partial refund... very disappointing. Will not order from or visit again.

As an Indian, the worst Indian food I ve ever had. The mango lassi and raita were incredibly sour. The shahi paneer had absolutely no flavour. The garlic naan was soft but useless as the paneer was terrible. The only good thing about my order was the samosa, and even that was lacking immense flavour but saved by the chutneys. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The food and service was wonderful but the price were expensive and the portions were small. The curry was around $20 and came in a small soup dish. It was just enough for one person. We had four people in our family and we each got one scoop full try eat. We ordered 4 items to share and left still hungry. I would try coming here for the buffet.

This is one of my favorite places for Indian food. I usually get a curry, naan and samosas for about $25 and I have leftovers the next day.

The food is delicious, I order delivery all the time and have never been disappointed. The Aloo Gobhi is a must try. Highly recommend.

Really disgusting food. We ordered two pieces of vindaloo chicken and the taste was horrible. The curry was completely liquid with no taste, tastes like water only, and a complete lack of spicyness. Do not order from here ever. It is the worst taste of any Indian food I have ever tried. Worse even if you order from skip the dishes, they wont give you even a partial refund despite knowing from the comments that this has happened before. Avoid at all costs.

I took a detour from my day to try this place, and Im glad that I did! Fancy interior, genuine service, and tasty food. The menu is pretty big. I got the lamb ragonjosh, and the spices were perfect. The prices were good, but if youre very hungry, get both rice and naan with the curry to fill you up. I will probably visit again.

Friendly staff, delicious food, but first they brought a dish with hair, and the owner said that it was most likely ginger But they changed it. I ate a new dish and remembered the hair I brought and was worried, it wasn t very comfortable. In general, tasty, but not clean.

The food was brought to us in less than 5 ! We were four having main dishes. It was obviously re-headed or something now we are all the stomach pain too bad!

At best this is a typical Punjabi restaurant that one may come across all throughout Metro Vancouver. Nothing wrong with that, I love Punjabi food, but please read... Ihave gone to this restaurant a few times and tried a few dishes but all the meat curries are same tasting, with the exception of different meats and of course different menu names. The lamb kadai taste exactly like lamb or goat curry! The biryani is basically chicken curry mixed with rice. You might as well just order chicken curry with rice on the side, mix it yourself, and wallah! you have just made biryani. Now, I am NOT saying the the food dont taste good, I would give three stars for the food. Taste: 3/5 Portion Size: 3/5 Place setting: 3/5 (i would give it a 4 if the music was not too loud, they were playing the 60s and 70 Hindi songs (I love hindi songs) prior to todays visit, they were playing religious songs and very loud, I am at a restaurant and not in a temple. Value: 2/5 The reason for this is that I had ordered their mix grilled platter, the meats were fresh. This dish cost some $25 plus tax, but ONLY ONE SHRIMP!! AND ONE SMALL PEICE OF FISH!! go figure. For $25 just one pc of shrimp. I am not kidding. At first I thought it was an over sight, I talked to the guy, and he said yes, we only give one pc of shrimp, few minutes later the older guy (owner) i spoke to him and he too confirms that in a $25 mix grilled platter there is only one shrimp. I was amazed, yet the owner did not say anything to make me feel good, even when I am telling him, hey, I dont see value. Something wrong here. Service: 4/5 Didnt have to wait too long. Its was around 2:pm and the restaurant was empty. There were only two more people dining.

Normally our go-to for Indian in the Tri-cities. Friday we bought a massive take-out order for our daughters birthday celebration. Everything was very salty - not normal at all. Hopefully they will have this corrected the next time we need great Indian food.

Great restaurant. Great food. Lovely aroma in the restaurant itself during dine and it s in a very nice area where it s nice to walk around after (especially during the summer time). I wasn t a big fan of the customer service in my experience but overall great place.

This is one of our favourite restaurants currently. We used to eat Indian food a couple times a year. Now we eat it every couple weeks honestly because of this place. The food is amazing and flavourful and it doesn t make you feel overly heavy after. Our favourites are butter chicken, palak paneer, aloo gobi, naan and palao rice. They ve been great through the pandemic, following regulations as we ve observed picking up take-out. We ve eaten in a few times and it was a good experience but we get takeout 95% of the time. Definitely recommend.

The customer service is the worst Ive ever had the owners and the staff are very rude and I would not eat there the restaurant was very dirty and not very good in appearance I hope people dont get sick at this restaurant while ordering their food. Was very disappointed and the owner they argue with me as well in front of the customers not very professional I would not recommend anybody order from this establishment.

My experience with this restaurant has been one of my worst experiences. The food was undercooked so I called the restaurant to inform and complain about it, a man picked up the call and when I told him it s under cooked, he started screaming at me and started insulting me. Please note, I didn t ask him for a refund or to send me the food again, was just letting them know so they don t do it again. But the man who answered claimed to be the owner and I don t think that is how you treat someone. It s highly unprofessional. I used to order food from this restaurant a lot but now I am going to stop.

Amazing flavour. Veggie Samosas are excellent. Shahi Paneer was absolutely to die for, paired with garlic naan was perfect. Ordered from Aroma twice in two days.

Such a pleasant dining experience! A wide selection of Indian foods. They understand that different people may be able to stand different amounts of heat. The owner came around to the table the time I went, which I found reassuring. Good service.

Ordered an Indian curry and they surprised me with a piece of plastic in it. I found it almost after finishing the whole thing. So I dont know whether I ate a plastic bag or what not. After showing to the owner he told me that its a human mistake anyone could have made it. So you can enjoy you Indian curry with a plastic side dish of you want.

Unreal mixed grill dinner... so many flavors and colors... first of many visits I hope.

Probably the worst curry Ive ever had. Tasted like water at best. I had to add salt and cumin just to make it edible. Not to mention wayyy over priced.

Food and service are amazing, and inside the restaurant looks much fancier than what I expected from the outside.

I m new to an area so I went for a walk . During that walk I need to pee and I stop and said can I please use the washroom . the front end staff say are you a customer because that the only people whom can use them . I understand if I looked under 20 but I dam well 55 and wearing really nice clothing . It seem like you more concerned about TP and 20 bucks or less it would cost to clean a washroom every month extra , then good first impressions. The joke is I finished my walk and spent 50 bucks at the Italian place 2 blocks down the way. From the other bad reviews it also seem you don t understand customer service at all. The funniest thing is if you leave a nice review the owner thanks you but say nothing at all when it comes to bad ones. Kind makes you wonder why that is ?

Best Indian food my wife and I have had since moving to BC! Definitely a Port Moody hidden gem!
