I just ordered a salmon sashimi to go. They still gave me a tea while I was waiting which it was so nice . The place was clean and cute. The staff was supper friendly . I have to come back for dine in and try sushi’s .
Not bad food, however, not a place you would go back. Bento bix chicken teriyaki,. Sauce was pre made container sauce, spring roll was all roll no spring tempura was 3 x as thick as should be . Temp prawn was sliced to create 2 pcs. If your hungry go but don't expect much. Clean and polite.
This is my go-to sushi place! I used to come here because it was close to my apartment but the more I ate at other sushi restaurants the more I genuinely wanted to return and eat here instead. They are very affordable, but have nice rolls, great special rolls and delicious sashimi. Best price for a split tuna and salmon sashimi ever, and it tastes great, super fresh. The only thing I've enjoyed more at other restaurants are the California rolls and agedashi tofu. Both are still good here but I've had a bit better. I almost always get my food to go because it's a small restaurant and I live nearby but you can eat inside. They have an enclosed patio for extra space. Everyone working there are genuinely so nice and my food is ready in no time, usually 15 mins or less. The combos come with miso soup, which is always a nice surprise. I have been eating here at least once a month for years and I have zero complaints. I would like to try their all you can eat sushi one day!
My go-to sushi place in BC is wonderful! I used to go there about once to twice a week, take my food, and head to Rocky Point. They can deep-fry anything! I absolutely love this place and the staff. It's been a year since I've visited, and oh, I miss it so much. I will be back in BC soon, and I can't wait to return! I encourage everyone to give these lovely people a try.
I’ve been coming here on and off and I must say I love their sushi rolls. I decided to sit in the restaurant today and the waitress went above and beyond. Such a great place to support.
We discovered this place by chance. It is kind of hidden in a mall but is is really good. They have both regular menu and all you can eat menu. For the second one they make sure you understand their policy and serve the order in stages, to be sure there are no waste. Everything was fresh and tasty. Specially mention to the Alaska roll. We absolutely love it as well as the special spicy rolls. A place worth of visiting.
First time visit. We chose all you can eat sushi lunch. It is expensive ($30/person); and there are some restrictions - but it was SO YuMMy!! We ate all we could eat 😂 Service was outstanding!! Our server was attentive and very polite. Decor was OK; for a very tiny place - but the open storage shelves with boxes on display - affected the atmosphere.
Sakeya appears to do extensive takeout sushi business and I can see why, I tried the oshi aburi negitoro sushi and the Victoria roll (yam tempura and avocado) and both were very good. The bento box dinner was a good value but the teriyaki chicken was just ok, same for the tofu teriyaki. We ate in and the service was terrific, our waitress was very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is casual.
I dont get how the rating reaches 4. We ordered teriyaki don, California roll, unagi don and it comes with two miso soup. If a Japanese restaurant cannot cook the rice properly, then its not Japanese. The rice was so wet and sticky, that literally turned into rice paste. The chicken has no flavor that we could taste it was boiled from from water without any flavor, and ITS NOT TERIYAKI. Teriyaki means pan fried, why is it water boiled? They added watery sauce that has absolutely no taste. The veggies inside, were uncooked, or basically dumped into boiling water for a second, which you can taste the raw flavor from the bean sprouts. Its not PHO, you dont let customer eat raw bean sprout in the teriyaki don. Enough with the teriyaki don. I dont get how they can make California rolls so tasteless! The rice was so soft and wet, theres no taste in the fake crab meat and everything falls apart when picked up. And finally, the unagi don. Despite its tasteless and non prepped unagi that just came out directly from the package, the rice was COLD. They simply put cold or partially warm sauce over onto a small size unagi. Please avoid or try if for your own sake.
Decent quality, non-expensive food. There is also a stamp-based loyalty system for frequent customers.
This is my familys favourite Japanese restaurant. The food is consistently high quality, fresh, good portions, and well-priced (as long as you eat in or use their pickup order system). There arent a lot of places that the adults AND the kids in my household like, but Sakeya is always a hit. Vegetarian options: Their veggie roll has cucumber, avocado, and pickled radish, and is DELICIOUS. we also love the Inari Nigiri (sweetened tofu skin pockets filled with rice). My kids wont eat tofu in any other form, but they love this.
Honestly disappointed at the food. The teriyaki chicken was terrible! It tasted old or undercooked, the sauce was bland, and the meat still had bone in it. The edamame was also very obviously undercooked because it was a bit hard to chew. I can t say I want to go back to give the place another shot. I can still imagine the taste.
Really good food but every single time Ive gone here recently you get 1 pack of soya souce with 4 rolls... I dont get it.
Tried them for the first time and ordered two different rolls - deep fried prawn and spicy crab. They were excellent. The service was very good and courteous. Definitely would recommend and I will be going back.
Two toro and two drinks = $25. Given how tiny the fish portion was this wouldn t make my list to come back to. But maybe I ll try their AYCE menu next time and update this review.
Super friendly customer service, ordered the Red Dragon Roll and Tuna Tataki, both were great! Ordered to go and received complimentary tea as I was waiting.
Its a must try
My personal quick and easy Sushi or Japanese style dinner restaurant. Always great sushi, nigiri, donburi, yakiudon, tempura or appetizer options. I have been a return customer for years. I see they have even started an all you can eat option. Quick service, clean restaurant and friendly staff. Parking: Easy parking in the strip mall Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access and parking
Tried this place today and found their all you can eat menu. 34 a person which is reasonable these days. Everything was fresh and delicious. The rice wasnt overbearing like you find with some ayce sushi. The service was great, very fast and was on top of this whenever we needed something. Overall I am very happy with this find and will be returning.
Owners are very kind, especially the lady. They have decent prices and are very quick to make your food. Nice seating area, sometimes difficult to find parking.
Very casual looking inside and out but the sushi is fantastic. We had all you can eat and definitely felt like we got our moneys worth! They have a 10 piece limit on nigiri but they are sized generously so I have no complaints there. The rolls can also be very large and filling. Very impressed and we will be making a return! Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegetarian options but vegan may be more limited
Great place, great service and love the food here. Its reasonable price. Love ordering my go-to rolls. Rainbow and salmon cream cheese roll. Will try more on the menu!
Friendliest staff and delicious sushi! Very impressed!
Found hidden gem in Port moody. Had all you can sushi for lunch and really enjoyed with various rolls. definitely wanna come back again!! Yummmmmm
My favorit sushi restaurant
Some of the worst sushi Ive ever had. Not fresh. Smells bad. Even the Seaweed and rice taste bad.
Best sushi in port moody my fave spot for lunch such nice service a local gem.
Love this place. Good quality sushi
Amazing service and perfect price to quality ratio!
Service was very poor. Ordered from the all you can eat menu. Waited over 30 mins to get our food and they didnt even give us everything we ordered. After about another half hour they came to take our second round order only to find out half our first order didnt show up. Meanwhile the table beside us was being waited on like they were royalty... The plus is that the food is really good. My only recommendation is dont dine in.
90s r&b on the radio amazing sushi and some of the best service
Bland. Fish tastes like its been out at room temp too long. Tempura batter is too thick and incredibly oily with little content. Spicy tuna had a puree texture. BC roll tasted like canned salmon. I love sushi, but half way through my meal I went and cooked myself a hot dog instead. Terrible.
Very disappointed in the quality. Ordered here to try it because the reviews looked promising, but there was not one thing that I enjoyed eating. The tempera batter was very thick, oily, and the yam seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. The fish didnt taste fresh, the rice was stodgy and bland - this was the first time Ive stopped eating sushi despite still being hungry. Ive arguably had better sushi in a mall. Never going back.
We decided to give it a try even if on a Saturday lunch time they had zero customers.I wish we didnt try. The sushi was very bad. And I am not a picky person when it comes to food. I couldnt in no way eat those sushi. The sushi was not fresh!!! Not coming back and I dont recommend.
I love this place. Fresh sushi and friendly staff.
My favorite sushi place! They make it all good, not a single bad things to say. Love it!
Long wait with 4 tables and lots of take out, they told us they don t do all you can eat because it s busy. And all two tables besides us were just finished their all you can eat. Left hungry .
I wouldve liked to have tried this place since it offered all you can eat. Unfortunately when I walked in and said I wanted a table for one and would be doing all you can eat they advised they could not due to Staffing. I am unsure how theres much of a difference between me ordering off the menu or all you can eat. No signage on the door warning you and they still have the banner hanging down advertising the all you can eat menu. After finally attempting to try this place and basically being turned away I will not be attempting to return
Went for all you can eat sushi on a slow weekday evening, we ordered the food and it took about 40 mins for the first order to come out, we did not receive all the food we ordered or in the quantity we wanted. Ordered again for the remaining food that we did not receive the first time and took another 30 mins to prepare it. We felt like they were intentionally making us wait in hopes that we would get full and leave, and that it exactly what happened. We sat there for over two hours and got 1/4 of what we ordered and had to leave disappointed and never again stepping in that place. The food was bland as well and not fresh.
Food was excellent, Nice portions, nice friendly service owners also
Best sushi place around! Friendly staff and the salmon combo is a delicious choice!
Very friendly staff, baby friendly, fair priced, the Yakiudon was particularly yummy.
Excellent location. The order was completed very quickly! It was very tasty!!! I highly recommend this place. Ingredients all fresh, very friendly staff 10/10
Ordered take out, fantastic!
Very good. I sat and drank a Sapporo while while waiting for me Sushi., which was amazing.
Tasty rolls and good portion size. Very kind staff who brought water for my dog as we waited for the take out order. Thank you!
Decent sushi for a fair price. Although my first experience was not that great, my order was messed up and I was over charged. I will try again but will double check the order on pick up and at time of order.
Such a great place, and the sushi is probably the best Ive ever had. I come here all the time with my partner, and they are so friendly to us!
Great service, fresh products, and good price!!
Friendly stuff but pure service. We got our takeout and they forgot to put the soy sauce in our bag which spoiled the whole experience of enjoying our sushi at the beach.
Nice quaint little restaurant with good food and good prices
Good quality sushi at reasonable price. Great service and nice staff.
Sweetest people I ve ever met, you can tell they make your food with love. God bless you
Great place for sushi. Friendly staff. Ill go back.
Good food, good prices
I go to this place often and never had any complaints but recently i got a chicken teriyaki roll from them and it was the worst experience ive had in a while. As soon as i had the first bite I immediately vomited because the chicken was expired. It smelled, tasted and felt the worst. I definitely would have had food poisoning if I finished the food.
The best sushi in town!
I have ordered from this restaurant a couple of ts, but my last time was the worse experience ever ( bento gyoza combo). I had a horrible food poisoning. It was instantaneous, as soon as I finished the food I started to feel sick. I was fine all day, so it s definitely was their food. I definitely do not recommend this place.
Its unfriendly I want tips from you. However, it is very unfriendly to Sonim Employees chat a lot among themselves.
Yummy! First time there but I will MOST DEFINITELY be back Great safety protocols!
Good sushi and Miss soup
Not fresh at all! Had 3 big sushi rolls and they provided me only 1 small container of soy sauce and the ginger wasn t even fresh.
Very good food. Tastes delicious. Have tried a lot of their food and never disappointed.
Ordered Toro Nigiri , was charged $2.50 a piece. I was given regular tuna instead. Normally regular tuna is $2.00 a piece. The rest of meal was average
Yummy delicious and fresh
Environment: take out only due to COVID. Food: bought a combo with rolls and a few nigiris. The rice was kind of dry in those kappa and salmon rolls, but the nigiri is good. Had miso soup that came with the combo, no wakame or tofu, just has green onions Price: around 15 to 16 dollars , quite normal for sushi Customer service: quick encounter for picking up the food
Really great spot. Amazing customer service.
Great service, they know me by name. Great food that s affordable. Come here all the time.
Good customer service. Sushi did not taste fresh. Reasonable price. I would not go back.
Love the food here!!
Great service. Excellent hostess.
Ok.. about time to leave a comment. Have done take out quite regularly since they opened and have to say the staff is so polite and the sushi is consistent high quality and always on time. Friendly and delicious you cant go wrong here. Thanks SD from Port Moody
Salmon for my nigiri was definitely spoiled and stinks.
Good sushi with quick and friendly service. We went for dinner, but it would probably be a great fast lunch option.
Always excellent food and Family friendly service!
Nice little community sushi restaurant in port Moody good service and plenty of different types of sushi
Great food!
Sakeya Sushi is real good .
Scallops and Tuna are not fresh
Tasty food, nice staff and good prices. I would go here instead of the 3 billion other sushi places around this area.
Very delicious sushi
Really enjoyed. They know my taste!
I had gyoza, yam tempura, and a couple of standard-type rolls. The fried foods were hot, crispy, and not greasy. The rolls tasted great with pleasing texture. Im no expert but I certainly liked what I ate.
Been here a few times now and every time we leave, we question why we came in the first place. Service is good but the food is very average. If you just need a quick sushi fix this place could do the trick, but otherwise go elsewhere.
Great sushi!
I have never eaten here in my life
Very good
Great sushi spot in Port Moody! Huge portions and friendly service! Much appreciated!
Love this place. I started ordering through skip the dishes, the food is AMAZING. And then once I actually went in to order, I was super happy with the customer service they provide. Super friendly and clean. Definitely recommend
Been here multiple times. The restaurant is always busy so the inventory has to be pretty fresh. Never had issues, friendly staff, quality food, and tastes good. Will return and recommend to family/friends and those reading this right now. Yes you.
Went with the delivery option this time. When choosing maki rolls, I also like to add simple sushi rolls as they highlight fish very well as there are no overwhelming additional flavors. In my opinion, negitoro is a perfect example with a beautiful combination of tuna and green onion. Unfortunately, this time rolls had an unreasonable ratio of rice to other ingredients. Way too much rice. I could barely taste the fish quite a disappointing experience. However, the spicy aburi tuna roll was nice.
Ordered this sushi via Uber Eats. It was alright but I was not overly impressed with the flavour or quantity. Something about the ingredients tasted inferior to other sushi restaurants Ive tried. The rice was quite hard and dried out at certain regions of the sushi roll...which makes me wonder how fresh it was. The miso soup was cold and that was quite off-putting. Overall, not good enough to warrant a second visit.
As last resort and due to convenience we lounged here for an evening dinner. ordered a nice sautéed teriyaki rice and miso soup. nice atmosphere. great food.
My favourite sushi place!! Im always telling my friends about the tiger roll. I usually order from here once a week. Doesnt do dine in right now which actually makes me feel safer eating here! Always amazing never disappointed
Good sushi. Nice atmosphere.
Not bad
The fish quality was terrible. None of the rolls were great. I barely touched my bento box. The only good part of it was the miso soup. Ill never go there for sushi again.
Service was quite good, but unfortunately food was very average. Its the kind of sushi where there is more special sauce on your rolls, than actual sushi. Their aburi rolls are awful, just awful.
I am a big fan of this place, and I think their dinner box is good value. The only issue that I have is the chicken teriyaki is boiled chicken with a thin layer of sauce on top. The staff are very friendly.
Great sushi place! Staff was super friendly. Out of all the sushi places Ive taken my toddler, this is the place where hes eaten the most. Not a date night out type atmosphere but nice for an easy bite.
Fresh fish and quick service and tasty food!
Sakeya makes the best oyakodon around! I ve ordered it a number of times from them, and the flavours, presentation, and portions are fantastic every time. More, the staff are very friendly and attentive also. Last night when I placed an order for my boyfriend and I over the phone, I mentioned that he had a serious allergy. The staff were very careful and attentive with this allergy, and they even called me back to verify that the dish we ordered would be safe for him to eat given potential cross-contact of the allergen. Very happy with the service and food and would continue to eat here!
Open late, nice local pomo sushi spot. With salmon oshi!
Really bad, got food poisoned from their sashimi.
Awesome, fresh sushi with generous portions!
This may have been one of the worst sushi experiences of my lifetime. They forgot half my order, and the food that we did receive was dry, and definitely not fresh. So disappointed...Not recommending this restaurant.
Great food, great prices, great service
Love the friendly service, decent pricing, good food. They are all about making it a great experience.
Awazing taste and a great staff.
Food was delicious but a bit expensive.
The taste is okay
Our group stopped by Sakeya sushi the other day and really enjoyed our meals. We got the spicy tuna roll and it was possibly the spiciest one Ive ever had, which is good. The kids liked their meals too.
Wild salmon was off colour and room temperature, tako was like chewing gum and agedahi tofu was tasteless and came with a terrible hot sauce on the side. Not one of the three of us ate much of our orders.
Good food served with smiling face
I dont eat raw fish but the vegetarian options of rolls always taste great and their Beef rice bowl is
Great sushi and customer service. Good prices.
their imitation crab meat for California roll was the best Ive ever had. idk how they do it. soft and tastes right. Their spicy rolls are above average spicy. Rice could be softer. Scallops were meh.
Busy place so the sashimi is always fresh! I recommend Tray C and the Jalapeno Tuna Oshi Sushi! Im a regular customer!
The aunties and uncles there are very nice and kind. When my little one is sitting and playing, for safety, auntie put another chair next to my little one. Back to the food, sushi rolls are superb, we have California rolls, dynamite rolls, yam rolls, California combo and Tempura Udon. All are great, we ordered an extra California roll for snacks for the little one. My little one said we should be giving them a five star. Little one said the (soup of) Udon is super yummy.
Pretty good
Great sushi place! Their kitchen looks like the kitchen at home. Cool concept and feel.
Good selection of sushi in Port Moody
Great quality and service. I like to pop in here late during the week after hiking the Coquitlam Crunch to refuel and they are always friendly, fast and good quality. Thank you.
Fresh fish, service was great, clean and tidy restaurant and bathroom facilities. Will definitely be back
Ordered last night. Food was mediocre and expensive. Got food poisoning and puked all night and morning.
I go there with my husband once a week for lunch and we love everything there. Stuff is very kind! 4 stars only because they save on ginger. :)
Super friendly and great service.
I have been here for sushi because its in my neighborhood. The food is pretty good, and reasonably priced.
Absolutely lovely resturant!! The food is amazing and the staff are so nice. Prices are really good, and did I mention the food is great??? Weve been back so many times!!
Good, fresh sushi.
Strongly recommended :)
Yummy food; great prices and portion size. Thank you!
Love this place! I work pretty close by and I usually get lunch from here once or twice a week and the food is always great. They have the best tuna sashimi and the staff are always happy and friendly and they always recognize you and remember how you like your food.
I love this place, fresh food every single time, the teriyaki is to die for. Super tender juicy meat with amazing teriyaki sauce. The sushi is amazingly good I find myself craving it time after time. No joke I hope this sushi place stays
Great service and delicious food. Highly recommend the volcano roll.
Amazing service and quality of food is on point!
Really good service.
Very good and afordable
Great place! Food is amazing and the price is good!
Great place , very nice of them to give a complimentary miso soup. Awesome portions.
Good.
Great staff very friendly and the food is just great portions more than enough, price was affordable
Above average sushi
Well priced, good music, respectful service.
Really good service!
They really cheap out on the amount of meat in your roll and the size of the gomae. Free miso soup is nice, but really I just want some decent sushi that doesnt give me the runs 2 hours later.
This place is super friendly and the food is excellent. The only thing Id change here is actual sliced tuna in the spicy tuna roll instead of what I call tuna muck but still fresh and great taste. Good portion to price ratio especially since ur getting good quality. Ive had 3 great meals so far and hope they can keep it up!
In a word, disappointing. In more words, Sakeyas staff were incredibly gracious and pleasant. However the service doesnt make up for the sushi. The portions in the combo were tiny vis-à-vis comparable combos in other restaurants in the area. The food quality was mediocre at best (vegetarians, the tofu teriyaki is a soft sloppy mess). All this is compounded by a long wait for the mediocre food to come out. Given their staff, I really wish I liked this place more, but I really cant recommend it.
Great service, great prices, delicious and fresh. I had the takoyaki, red dragon, and I ordered various nigiri. They were very generous with the bonito flakes on takoyaki, and the nigiri pieces were large. The sushi rice was to my liking - not too hard or soft and slightly sweet. Highly recommend this place!
Nice
I always order take outs. Good food for a good price. Friendly staff
What a gem! Ive gone there twice on the advice of my son. Great value, staff are very friendly, food is fresh. We ordered a Katsu Don, a Chicken Udon, crunchy Cally (?) roll, Gomae and a dynamite roll. all in $30, We ordered over the phone and picked up. The lead time was 15 minutes which was almost exactly on time. I was thanked at least 3 times for coming in and another 3 times when leaving.
The food here is overall pretty decent for what you pay for. However the portion sizes are a little less then what I expected for the price. The quality was pretty good and display was good. Overall its a 4-4.5/5 restaurant
Quite and clean place. Good food and attentive waitressing staff.
Love this place! Great people and great food
If youre in a pinch for Japanese food and within walking distance, Sakeya will do just fine. Decent sushi rolls for a decent price. Full stop. If you have higher expectations for Japanese food, Sakeya is not it. Drive further. I ordered chicken karaage as an appetizer and assorted sashimi to share. The chicken karaage that was plated was, literally, fried chicken wings that youd order in a pub, on a bed of lettuce and drowning in teriyaki sauce. Now, I know the translation of chicken karaage means fried chicken, but this is absolutely not the Japanese way of preparing it. Very upsetting. Furthermore, the assorted sashimi had no taste, of poor quality, and portions were very small. Was very disappointed with the value here. They got one thing right about the assorted sashimi - it was assorted. Not very memorable however. The service was ok. Slow to take our order, food came out fast, and only came by to check on us once. Providing a good experience is not a priority it seems. Repeat? Like I said earlier, fine in a pinch and only for sushi rolls. Otherwise, Ill just get in my car and go a little further for better value and quality.
We went for sushi here one afternoon and the sushi rice was very dry and the rolls were crumbling apart. The rolls were small and too overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food. There was almost nobody in the restaurant but service was fine.
[Ordered delivery] While I am sure the food WOULD have been good, I wasnt able to actually eat any of the food I paid for because it came slathered in sauce I cant eat, despite me putting in two separate order notes asking them to hold the sauce. I tried calling the restaurant, only to be put on hold until I disconnected myself (I put that in quotations because I could hear everything going on still, and I listened to the woman talk to other customers while I waited for over 3 minutes). I then spent over 15 minutes trying to call them back, only to be greeted by a message saying the customer is unavailable and their mailbox is full. Goodbye over and over. 0/10, do not recommend. EDIT: When I finally did get a hold of the restaurant, they said it was my fault (paraphrasing) for writing the note like this: No mayo/spice sauce please!
Very fast attentive service. Fish quality was excellent. Miso, sunomono, takoyaki, and beef teryaki were all very flavourful and delicious. Tempura was light and non-greasy. Clean and pleasant interior. And best of all the prices were great! I dont understand why many people here are saying portions are small they seemed normal to us. Our new favourite sushi joint in PoMo!
Fresh and Delicious
Wonderful moderately priced sushi in the neighborhood. The wasabi is well made with a strong bite. There is a comfortable Japanese shop feel.
Our 1st visit was great. The service was fast and friendly and prices are reasonable. Great addition since losing our regular sushi place down the street.
