Sushi Modo - Port Moody in Port Moody

Overall, not bad. Food is ok, well presented. Parking is relatively easy. Upgrading to coho salmon is reasonably priced. Will go back again

After visited Ricky Point Park in Port Moody, I was looking for a nearby restaurant for lunch. I found this Korean-owned Japanese restaurant on the St. Johns Street which is just 5 min drive from the park. It was easy to find and there were plenty of spaces in the parking lot. The restaurant is spacious and cozy. For each table there is a tablet for ordering. I ordered a Soy Chicken Karaage Donburi as it looked delicious on the menu pics. The rice bowl came with miso soup. The donburi looked good with sufficient portion for a strong man. It was tasty, however as I kept eating the soy chicken karaage got more and more salty. Finally I couldnt have anymore. I finished the rice and it was well cooked. I drank two cups of tea after having the donburi. I didnt try other dishes, perhaps I will give them a try when I come here next time. I do hope the chef could make it less salty. Apart from that, service was fine and the ambient was quiet and tidy.

Food was SO GOOD

This is a typical white washed sushi restaurant in Coquitlam, owned by Koreans. The food is just okay, but not great, and the portion sizes are among the smallest Ive ever seen. If youre looking for authentic sushi, I would not recommend this place.

This is my second time visiting Sushi Modo in Port Moody, and unfortunately, the service here was disappointing, especially compared to the location in Edmonds. I m not sure if it was a coincidence, but each time I tried to get the server s attention to place my order, they seemed to look away, or perhaps I was seated in a section not assigned to them. Either way, it ended up requiring multiple attempts just to place an order. Additionally, I couldn t help but feel that customers with Asian backgrounds weren t treated with the same warmth as others, which made the experience quite uncomfortable. As for the food, I thought it was good, but the service has consistently left me with a negative impression. If you share a similar background to mine, I d suggest being cautious about dining here.

Sushi Modo is one of our regular spots and I think its one of the best sushi places in the GVA, great quality and fantastic service.

Warm and bubbly customer service. The atmosphere is cozy with soothing piano music playing in the background. We ordered two salmon sashimi (very expensive!!), mentaiko udon, and plain udon. Our total came to $65 and $75 after tips for two people. Ouch!! Other than the high price, the environment and staff were very friendly. 4/5 stars.

This place beats all other Japanese restaurants nearby. They must have a tempura master. Words cant describe how good they are. Also I liked the touch screen ordering system and food was quick too.

Love coming here when we have a group of friends getting together! My favourite roll is the crunch spicy salmon, the sauce in it just makes it so unique from other sushi restaurants.

Restaurant service was amazing. They care about customers need and food allergies. Food was consistent. Excellent food. Clean restaurant. Also, they have a tablet at the table to allow you to order or ask for server. They do check on you and not overwhelming. Last but not least they open late. You do pay a little more for quality and service. Well worth it.

I think that might have been the best sushi Ive ever had. The quality was so fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Nothing but smiles from everyone! Already cant wait to come back!!

Staffs don t speak English properly and we needed to explain our sentences for long time, still they didn t get it, We asked for dynamite roll sushi deep fried , the girl even didn t know what is deep fried and she was asking for several other things that she can understand it, but she didn t get it even when we said no worries your chefs will know what is the deep fried .girl came back to her coworkers and they were laughing and taking about deep fried in their own language that was so rude. And again other girl when she came She couldn t answer my question and I asked dod you hire your staff recently? After 4 times repeating my question in different ways, she said: No we don t have hiring right now, sorry She said Unfortunately we and our friends,never come back to this place again

I ve been there a few times but this time was totally different and it was the last time. The new stuff doesn t really understand what we want but I have to say they were polite. We ended order something simple from the list so they understand.

This was my first time at sushi modo in Port Moody with my two daughters who are gluten free. The food was amazing, they were extremely helpful with the girls food sensitivities. Fresh hot tea was regularly offered. It was clean, staff were very helpful and friendly. If I lived in Port Moody I would be dining here weekly. We will definitely be returning to Sushi Modo. It was amazing.

I had a lunch here. The food was largely good. But what I don t like is that they asked to give me the bill just upon my last bite! I didn t pay it right away. Surprisingly they asked me to pay it just a few minutes later! But it was just around noon time, and 80% of the seats were empty, why pushing so hard? And they didn t ask me how was the food Hope they can get it improved.

The place has great variety of Japanese cuisine and it tastes great! However, the service is bit slow. Also, once time we came in and wanted to sit at the table for 4 people because the two people option was in the middle of the restaurant. We were told that those tables are only for 4 people and it was not an option. Next couple of 2 people came in and they were seated at that table! Very unfair.

My favourite spot to get sushi in Pomo and one of my top in the lower mainland. Their sushi is top notch and their staff is always incredibly friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend!

First time ordering from sushi modo. We re super transparent when it was busy and gave us an accurate wait time. Missed one item in our order and called us immediately when we were pulling away which I ve never had happen. You usually find out when you re already home and it s too late. Sushi was delicious. This place is phenomenal and as an avid sushi fan, I d rate this place as highly as anywhere in the lower mainland. In fact, this is our only sushi spot these days. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: My partner has dietary restrictions and they ve been more than happy to accommodate her. Parking: Great parking on site and it s it s full there s plenty nearby.

*NOT CHILDREN FRIENDLY * The woman said to my Family. Oh you guys have children? I reply Yes, is there a problem? She replied Uh yes you didn t mention children in your reservation I replied The amount of people I reserved is including my Children s She replied But you didn t mentioned it on the phone. I replied What difference does it make? If I book for 7 do you care if it 7 Men or 6 Women with 1 child? So do I have to tell you which Gender, or what kind of pants I m wearing to dine here? She then gave me the face and attitude not willing to serve us. The whole dinner she never ask us if we need tea. But instead we have to call to get tea. She never came by our table other than bringing the foods we ordered.

Been here a few times and it s barely alright in my opinion. The sushi is standard but quite overpriced. Interior decor is nice. Service is minimal in a bad way. They recommend that you use the tablet at the table. Forget to bring napkins, don t top up the tea, doesn t follow up and check in and still have the nerve to smile and hand over the tip machine with a minimum of 18% displayed. There are better options in the Tri-cities from my experience.

24.8.23 Weekday evening visit There is a little parking at the back of the gift... We parked at a nearby 7-Eleven and walked a bit. I was greeted in Japanese so I thought it was a sushi restaurant run by Japanese people... but it was a chain sushi restaurant in Canada... The owner seems to be Korean. There was a super red pepper paste salmon salad, and I ordered 30 pieces of large sushi, but it was generally a bit salty. Is it Canadian style? The sushi was straight-up as if it had been shot by machine, and there was seasoned clam meat between the rice, and it was very oily and greasy. There is also refreshing pepper on top to balance out the greasiness of the salmon. In general, the taste is so-so It s a cold, rainy day. Cold water with ice? The service is so soso

Friendly service, food arrived within 15 minutes, fancy technology with table-side tablet for ordering and calling over server. We got the bento lunch special, salmon oshi, house roll. Will definitely be coming back!

The salmon sashimi is butter smooth and each slice is so thick. Tempura shrimp is light and fluffy and shrimp is sweet. Wish there were better combos for dinner for a party. A new fav Japanese restaurant for me.

This place has been our favorite for about two years now! Their Oshi is incredible, and melts on your mouth. The service is awesome and they never miss a beat.

This sushi spot is a gem. The Fancy Roll is incredible fresh and bursting with flavor. The Chicken Karaage is perfectly crispy and juicy, and the Takoyaki is a must-try with its deliciously creamy center. A fantastic dining experience all around!

Sushi Modo is our go to place since it opened in Port Moody. The quality of the food for dine, take out and even delivery has always been amazing. Their attention to detail in all aspects and inviting atmosphere is what sets this place apart from other sushi places we ve been to.

Shout out to Sushi Modo because they accomodated my party of 11 last minute. It was my moms 60s birthday and we were in town for my cousins wedding. We initially were going to order in but decided to celebrate out pretty much the day off. Called a couple of sushi places in the area that couldnt get in even on a sunday evening. Sushi Modo intially hesitated but agreed after I explained the situation. The sushi was great and we got a free maki plate when we posted a 5 star review. Service was really slow and thats the only reason Im giving them a 4 star and not 5.

This was my first time eating here at this location and I ve been looking for places with good oshi sushi options. This restaurant did not disappoint. This is our favourite sushi restaurant in the area. The fish is always very fresh and the portions are generous. The service really great and the food comes out fast. Really love the ambiance too.

This is a fantastic restaurant with the best bento boxes, aburi sushi, and salmon kama. Our server, Yuna, was lovely and assisted with picking the most delicious rolls! Will be back for sure.

Very clean and cozy interior, and had unique menu items like Kimchi Don Katsu Nabe and Salmon Karaage salad. Also has a separate menu for vegetarion rolls! Food and service was good, and will be back to try the rest of the menu

This place gives a free oshi roll if you leave a review so don t take any of the reviews seriously. I came here because of the reviews and was truly dissatisfied a First of they did not give us share place. Second the tuna and salmon sashimi was not sockeye even though it said sockeye on the menu. Miso bowls were half full. The amount of meat on a $20 sushi roll was disappointing. The rest of the meal was average.

Great Sushi with many different options to choose from. Service and atmosphere is alright.

Great service with even better food. The rolls were the perfect size with amazing flavor and quality. I have done take out a few times however the dine in experience has made me want to dine in only now. Best spider roll I have had in a long time and the spicy salmon was perfect. It was busy when we went however it did not affect service or the meal in any way. I will be back soon.

We have been coming here since it opened! Great variety, amazing food, friendly service. We have never been disappointed! Vegetarian options: Love the Avocado mango, the veggies roll and of course the spicy yam roll or spicy tofu! Dietary restrictions: My daughter is celiac and its the only sushi place that she can more flavorful rolls!

Food was served extremely fast within 5 minutes everything was served. Would highly recommend salmon oshi it was delicious
