Have not been here in years glad to see it open had breakfast but excited to go back and try a burger prices seem fair

A beautiful little 50s style diner great fríes and my son says if u want a high end Burger go to the little places because they are the best

Delicious burgers, the place is very nice, the cabin where they prepare them and as a restaurant and bathrooms they have a train car; gardens and typical Canadian chairs (from the east); 100 percent recommended

Little slow due to being family owned but so worth it. The portions to price is very good, large portions decent prices and very nice rustic/old atmosphere. Food is very filling and tasty

Food was quite good, very large portions. The lady serving us was nice, but the service was really slow. We ordered 2 cheese burger combos and Im not sure if they forgot about our order or what, but it took well over 40 mins to recieve the food. I went to see what was taking so long and the lady scrambled into the kitchen to get the food. I recall the couple before us also asking when their food would be ready. So I assume they had waited a bit too. It didnt seem very busy at the time, so doesnt make sense why it took so long. Cant say how many cooks there are though. In general would I come back? Probably not. The wait time killed it for me. It was recommended to us by friends, thats why we went to give it a go.

Waited over 45 minutes for a hotdog and BLT... the girl taking orders was rude when we asked about when the food would be ready, despite there being very few customers. Quality was okay when it came. Very irked that I was prompted to leave a tip when we placed our order and did so - next time I will wait until after I have been served because this doesnt deserve a tip. The snow blower is cool but we wont be going back.

When youre away from the city and think youd never be able to eat Keto, or diet friendly foods; youd be surprised that these little places would accommodate. We asked for one of our burgers to have a lettuce wrap as opposed to a bun; and they delivered. The food was great, tasty and freshly made. The location looks a little dated, but all in all well worth the stop.

My fries had obviously been reheated and were burned black, burger was burned black. Didnt know until I got home so I just threw everything away. Owner accused me of reheating and burning them, why would I do that and then post a review. Accusing me of lying? This is what I put on my plate to try them but too disgusting to eat. The entire medium size order looked like this. I would have taken them back but they had closed.

This used to be an awesome place, but this last experience let me down. The girl at the front was not friendly or welcoming, unfortunately. I felt a bit like an inconvenience to her. We waited a VERY long time for our meal, and felt that we got much less food than we used to, for the price that we paid. The fries were dried out, not the usual standard for this place. I will give it another try sometime, and see if its any better, but if not, Im afraid it will be my last.

Tried this place on Friday afternoon on the way to the cottage. Verry disappointing - lots of fries but poor quality. Whom ever rated their fries as excellent obviously had never had the fries at the Ritson Road chip truck in Oshawa or Dam Good Ries on 93 just north of the 400. Service was also lacking.

Not the best service. My fiancé and his son ordered a burger combo. When it came out they got the burger but not the fries. Waitress did not check in to see if we wanted more food or drinks. My stepson started eating his burger and halfway through eating it he bit into a bread tag! $50 for 3 of us to eat and 2 of us only had burgers! There was a young boy cleaning tables and sitting on his cell phone half the time. Didn t even look old enough to be working there. They also took forever to clean off tables too after people left and just left dirty dishes sitting there. Don t recommend this place. Won t be returning!

What a cool little place. We found it while snowmobiling and it was a great place for out lunch. Excellent food and a fun atmosphere right on the snowmobile trail

Stop for lunch waited 10 minutes for her to come out of the kitchen to take my order then I ordered a sausage and french fry fries were okay theyre not like they used to be sausage and fries came out I took one bite of the sausage it was cold I was sitting outside so I went in to tell her and you think she would say sorry sir I will fix that right away no the first thing that came out of her mouth was stop harassing me and all I told her was the sausage was called in a polite way she came back with the second one this time I went to pick up the sausage and it just fell apart she came out and told me its the condiments that are cold not sausage I told her the sausage was cold I dont want anything to do with it I cant do this place years ago when her father was running it it was great the daughters got an attitude problem I dont even think she should be in the business sell it or give it back to your father

Worth the stop! Go for the fries! And the lovely quirky ambience. It makes for a great stop while you are driving around finding your way in Muskoka. The poutine was a let down, but the fries were fantastic. Go for everything else. The family who operates has a sense of humor and can refresh you a little bit.

What a great little spot!!! The old pictures of Huntsville were so fun to look at. The fries were amazing but the onion rings were the best!! You gotta eat there!!!! Food : 5/5

What an incredible place, nestled off the road in the forest. Me and my girlfriend enjoyed a beautiful lunch in the sweltering heat last weekend. The owners kids were amazing, checked in and helped put our umbrella up. The food was a huge portion and worth every penny. Will be coming back.

It pains me to write this review. Heart of Muskoka fries has been a big part of our summers going back several years and well as on trips up through fall-spring to do winter prep. My last three visits the poutine and fries have been extremely dissatisfying. My son would drive 2.5 Hours just for poutine. But after the last three disappointing visits he does not want to go again. The fries in poutine and on their own just don t taste the same and are usually over cooked. They either are a different Potatoe or seem twice cooked. My son the poutine pro says the cheese is not the same as well. I rarely right reviews but we loved our visits. We skipped it this week with our family friends who helped us find HMF in the first place as it s not the same. Hopefully it s just a change that can be reversed. Would pay a little more for the same taste and quality!

Hands down the best place to eat. Burgers are big and juicy, fries are so fresh and tasty. So much flavor in every bite. Cant wait to come back for more. Highly recommend stopping in. Lots of delicious food to choose from. Super friendly service. Beautiful place to eat.

This place sounds like it used to be a gem. I will add you get value when you order poutine. My only complaint about it was way too much gravy. The BLT was something I would make at home, the hotdog tasted odd, the grilled cheese burger was nothing Kore than a PC burger patty. I kind of expected real beef patty being a small chip truck type place. The worst part was the girl working this morning. Zero personality, on the brink of inconvenienced by our visit. Even my daughter noticed her attitude and made mention of her tossing the food on the table. No follow up, never asked how it was even when paying. We probably will never be back, which is too bad because it sounds like this used to be a little Diamond in the woods.

Came here because it had a good rating......horrible, very dirty, staff as well looked un tidy and not dressed nice, and not very polite. Small children working clearing tables. Bathrooms were the worst! The food horrible, over cooked fries, marble cheese for poutine, and the burger tasted old and freezer burnt! Bugs in the vinegar jar, condiments containers not clean either. Very small and hard to move around. Needs a good cleaning and new workers!

I am so sorry to say those were the worst fries I have ever had. Couldnt possibly have been fresh cut as advertised. Burger was awful also. Waited 45 minutes for it.

Family owned business. I tried their fries, it was good. They serve gourmet burger, sandwiches, poutines too. Good for groups to hang out. They have outdoor seating area too. They have rare collection of framed pictures on the walls. Wait time for your food is normal. Plenty of parking space, surrounded by nature, good place!

Had the banquet burger and a poutine to split with my partner. Very generous portions, we did not manage to finish it all. Fries are delicious and the burger was thick and juicy. Service is excellent as well. The staff are friendly and helpful. We will be coming back soon!

This restaurant has a great location, just off the highway 11 exit at 141. I can attest that the burgers and fries are tops. Saw their all day breakfast menu, and it looks great too. The diner is full of interesting collectibles and memorabilia to view while you wait for your order. Family run, so you get great personal attention.. well worth a visit.

We ordered peameal on a bun with fries and home fries.Buns were very greasy and found hair in peameal sandwiches. Fries were stale and home fries were just cut up fries. Restaurant is not clean and is run down.

Food was very good, fresh and no skimping. Very cozy, friendly place with eclectic decor of vintage memorabilia. Owner, John, was there and we had a lovely chat with him. We are definitely going back: it will be our stop everytime we go up that way from now on!

Awesome Burger!

Stopped by here last Friday on our way back from a snowmobile trip to Baysville. Amazing little spot - great décor and just what we needed in terms of a rest stop and food. Waitress/counter woman was very happy and helpful. We all ordered banquet burger combos - tons of food and very tasty! Be warned - the fry portions are HUGE. Cooked to perfection too. Will be coming back on our next sled trip for sure. Thank you!

An OKAY place. Ordered a burger and poutine. Burger was cold and the the toppings were put on sloppy. Half a head of iceberg lettuce, 1 inch thick tomato. 2 thick soggy pickles and buns that couldnt hold up to the moisture. Might work for others, but Ive eaten plenty of better burgers. The saving grace was the poutine. The fries were fresh and cut thick. The gravy had a nice flavour and they put a generous amount of cheese, though they werent curd (large chunks of cheddar and mozzarella?) I asked for less gravy and was happy I did. lots of seating and close to the highway

Food was great got fries and a whistler dog, they were out of gravy which was odd my go to order from any fry truck is usually a poutine but s**t happens, they were definitely short staffed seeing the girl taking orders running back and forth from the kitchen, good food but service could have been better

Absolutely ridiculous wait times I called in my order at 12:50 and was told 20-30 minutes so I left work for lunch at the 30 minute mark to be safe I got back to work an hour later even though I work 5 minutes away. In total an hour and a half wait for 2 grilled cheese sandwiches. On top of the ridiculous wait time I also got free dental floss with my sandwiches in the form of 8-10 inch hairs.Spoke to some other people there and one lady waited the same amount of time for a small fry. I have eaten here many times before and because of the experience I have had today probably will not be returning again. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND STAYING AWAY!!

Slowest service Ive ever experienced at a restaurant today. They did not warn us about any delay and Ive now been waiting for a lunch order for an hour. The thing is theyre not even busy. Looks like they just have no staff on a Saturday. Edit: not sure if there is a way to respond directly to business owner replies but here it is. It was not an exaggeration when I said it it was an hour. 12:40-1:40pm today before we finally gave up and asked for a refund (which took even longer to process). There were two groups that arrived before us before us and they had still not been served their meals before we left. This place has pretty good reviews overall so it doesnt seem to be like this all the time but today they absolutely blew it on service time and especially on customer service for not communicating the delay to their patrons. If I were the owner of this establishment I would be embarrassed by how my staff conducted themselves today. I also dont appreciate the way you tried to minimize the issue I had by saying I must be wrong about the time and saying that items are made to order so a wait should be expected. This is outside of any reasonable wait time for fries and hot dogs!

Cant speak to the quality of the food as we never got it but service was terrible. After waiting over an hour for our food, with other orders still in front of us, we asked for a refund which also took forever. They were completely understaffed but they didnt say anything when taking peoples order. If its going to take that long, staff should say something. Families were waiting an hour and half or longer for food which is ridiculous for hot dogs and fries. Staff was very unfriendly too. Wouldnt come here ever again and definitely wouldnt recommend to anyone

Ordered Pemeal on a bun, and a medium fry. Took 45 minutes for the food. Half of our fries weren t even cooked all the way through.

Burger was DELICIOUS fries were a little undercooked. Wait is about 25 minutes which isn t bad for a whole family meal. It s a cute place, you can dine inside or out the washrooms are tiny and for sure would not be accessible to any sort of mobility aid, they were also a little grungy Overall food was good, place is nice

Adorable spot to stop for some breakfast or lunch with the family. We usually head up after a day out and grab a few orders of large fries and then the whole family digs right in. The fries are authentic, fresh, and so yummy!

The burgers are tasty and the portions are good but the service is unbelievably slow. On a Thursday afternoon it took 45m from when we placed our simple order of two cheeseburgers, a grilled cheese, and two fries, and then another quarter of an hour for our friends who ordered with us on a separate cheque. The sign says cooked to order but it s as if the kitchen can only handle cooking a single order at a time. It s good food but it s not worth the wait.

First time and have to say there was barely any wait time for food. Staff was friendly, liked the atmosphere and the best part was the food. Fries are amazing! Good portion sizes and prices are reasonable. Im sure certain times are busier then others but its well worth the wait if there is one. Will definitely be back! Love this place, food is great and portions are big. Fries, hot dogs, burgers etc. Stop here every time we pass through. Kid-friendliness: Lots of trinkets to look at and cool old gumball machines. Wheelchair accessibility: Has a ramp. Parking lot is gravel, but hard so shouldnt be a problem.

EDIT September 2022: Man, this place has really gone downhill. Miserable staff, no-one answers the phone, a 40-minute wait for the wrong order... If you dont like people, then maybe a food place isnt the best option. Port Sydney/Utterson needs more local choice. Really big servings (ordered medium poutine, pretty sure it could have fed my family of four!). Fresh, tasty food, cooked just right. Will be back to try the sit down experience (my wife and I got a lunch takeout).

Awesome and huge poutine. Medium size did 2 meals for 2 of us. Very nice staff. Rustic atmosphere with all the antiques and knick knacks in the place.

Update: Original Review was 5 years ago and this place is still going and looks better than ever. I really like this place and always stop in when in the Utterson / Port Sydney area. The fries are HUGE. The small is an extra large anywhere else and theyre like Swiss Chalet Fries. I would highly recommend. Parking: Small parking lots big trucks (transport trucks and very large RV/Trailers can have issues. Kid-friendliness: Its got lots of stuff on the walls the kids would like to look at.

Literally just left this place after ordering a sausage and its literally still cold in the center like fridge cold and the outside is barely warm. Only had 2 bites and lost my appetite. Dont recommend this place at all!

Convoy sympathizers Food was ok but while eating several locals came in and began ranting about Trudeau & Freeland & talking loudly about participating in a possible 2023 Convoy to Ottawa person behind the counter was in full support had I known, I d have taken my business elsewhere. Won t be back. and based on the follow-up reply from the owner below, other customers can decide if they want to support this establishment freedom to choose, right?

Could only have the fries being gluten intolerant, was dissapointed the gravy listed under the heading gluten free fries actually had gluten. Prices have gone up so I took my own photos of the menu. The staff member was helpful-ish but seemed to not like people so thats not very helpful. Fries were good, but they were pricey for what they were.

Excellent fresh cut fries! Gravy smothered all over, not just on top! Steaming hot! So yummy after a day of skiing!

Lots and lots of fresh toppings on the Muskoka burger, it fell apart a little which is a good sign that its loaded with a healthy amount of everything, honestly it was the ripe tomatoes fault. Sorry no photo cause it was eaten before I thought about it. Also the fries, obviously really good. Nice folks too.

We ordered 2 poutines with zero warning on the size of these. Wish there had of been boxes up to show the size. Also the cashier seemed absolutely utterly miserable. I think if she could of been ANYWHERE else doing ANYTHING else she would of been. By bring our food out I guess she meant stretch as far from the door as possible with my food on her fingertips. We both almost dropped it. Changed the entire first time experience here sadly.

I walked in and immediately said I want this to be my house. This is one of the most Canadian places Ive encountered in a long time. I dont live in the area - I live three hours away but the first guy I encountered used to live about ten minutes away from my house! Naturally, we talked hockey with the Chinese couple sitting at the table. Theres a lot of fun, interesting things to look at from the A&W Zamboni to the hamburger-hotdog-fries totem pole to the collection of retro tchotchkes. The food is excellent value for the money and absolutely delicious - huge, huge portions, so buy one order of fries and share. The fries come unsalted and home cut so I was able to eat them! Yay! I had the BLT, nevvie had the cheese burger combo with Dads Root Beer (so hard to find now!). The food was fresh and delicious. To Chairman Meow, who whined about the cashier not personally presenting his food to him up chose and personal with a Marilyn Monroe thank you - you *do* know about this covid thing going around, right? PS: *have x 1 million. Do you even English?

Ordered a small poutine and it was absolutely humongous. 100% delicious! Fries were large but perfect, the cheese in the poutine was shredded cheese instead of curds and there was a ton of gravy! I barely managed to eat half, but thats okay itll be a snack for later. Nice picnic tables outside in the trees to eat on. It was quite busy.

The girl at the counter was so horrible to customers we turned around without ordering.

I came with my son as a stopoff. I do not recommend. The food is typical, even good, but the counter girl is not very pleasant, she looks tired and overwhelmed and her tone is borderline losing it completely. The surroundings are interesting with cool items to see but the service is not worth it.

Always worth the wait! The fries are exceptional! The Frys I had today had to have been 8 in Long! There was a couple carloads of I believe students on a Excursion who left because they had to wait 20 minutes. They should have stayed those fries were better than any fries in all of Muskoka! I have been coming here for 5 plus years, and I have yet to be disappointed. Violet and family keep up the good work!

I was super excited to come here as I read multiple great reviews.... instead I was extremely dissapointed.. my poutine looked like a few home cut fries in a lake of gravy and very unappetizing... my daughters cheese burger had very little cheese and was dried out... and I paid a crazy amount of money for a blt I make better at home..definetly not worth the money.

Muskoka burger was very good. Good sized petite. Ill be back.

Stop in for the fries heard they where the best in muskoka. Honestly they are not that great and the girl that works the counter is very rude an the customer servise seems not to be a thing here.. Told my girl firend about it and she said the same thing that she had been there twice an the girl working there is very rude and unpleasant we will never be back and will tell others the same

The were the worst fries Ive ever had! They were overcooked and their Poutine isnt really Poutine, its just Cheese-Fries. Poutine has cheese curds, not shredded cheese. There was so much gravy, the cheese just melted into the gravy creating a cheese soup laying under a plate of overcooked fries.

my husband and I were looking for a place to eat breakfast before going to our rental cottage in Utterson ....could not find anything until we saw this cool off the road gem !!! our breakfast was great, hit the spot..ate outside at a picnic table under the tall pine trees ( you can also eat in restaurant) but being a beautiful day we ate out..nice people... good food !!! I recommend this place !!!

I saw a full parking lot coming into Port Sydney for this place. The next day I picked up fries for lunch thinking it must be a good spot. They were the worst french french fries Ive ever had - you could tell they were either frozen or old, dry, blackened, over done, dry and honestly had the texture of clumpy cardboard. If it wasnt for a ton of ketchup, I wouldnt have had two of them. Such a disappointment for $7.50 of small fries.

Cozy place, huge poutine portions and footlongs!

First time having poutine, it was great, and a small was too big for both of us to share. You should go!

25 for a burger and fries. Didnt use cheese curds for the fries either, moz and cheddar instead, and used a frozen gross burger patty. Was disapointed.

Ive driven past this place probably a thousand times, but today I stopped here and Ive never been more happy with a decision in my entire life. I dont know if they make their own patties, or if they order them in from somewhere else, but if they served that patty on a literal tray of garbage, it would still be one of the greatest burgers Ive ever had! One of the few places in the world where the food looks even better than the pictures! I wish I could rate 6 stars. Poutine is not their strong suit, but the fries were still good.

Wanted to love this place but it didn t hit the spot! We drove out of our way to grab some poutine but there were no cheese curds (only shredded mozzarella and cheddar) and the bacon was just dehydrated bacon bits. While the portions are huge would have preferred improved quality over quantity.

We went to this place based on decent reviews on google but it was an average experience at best. We ordered French toast and bacon n eggs combos. Fries were ok, nothing special about them. Bacon was burnt and eggs were too oily. French toast was good but coffee wasnt warm enough. Also, we thought the place is a bit expensive.

Delicious and plentiful

Fries were awesome. The hot dog could have been better. Bun seemed a bit stale and rather big for that poor little dog. But again the fries were fantastic and keep you wanting to come back and the memorabilia everywhere is really cool.

Poutine is great, owner is great and clearly really cares about customer satisfaction. Only had one bad experience getting hung up on and order was not up to usual standards. Otherwise fantastic place

great food and generous amount of food

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had, the waitress was funny, friendly and very unique. Eat there enough and its like dining with your family.

Just went in for a takeout coffee . Coffee was ok next time will try food !
