519 Christina de Wit St, Prince Albert, 6930, South Africa
Such a wonderful place…located at the outskirts of Prince Albert. We had dinner and enjoyed the great food and personal service. We also met the owners who manage this place with passion and love. Thank you :-)
Fantastic seasonal menu, where spicey food is spicey, and herby food is herby. I do recommend trying the various 'exotic' flavours of their home made ice cream. It's surprising and really good.
Personal country-style service. Relaxed atmosphere. Excellent food. Enjoyed the ice cream platter.... just ask for it! A real treat and enjoyable experience. The lamb-shank is a must!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Yellow House in Prince Albert. The host was very friendly and spoiled us with nice coffee and rusks. The accommodation is on a working farm and there is a top quality restaurant. The selfcatering accommodation is spacious and we'll kept with everything you need. Good quality linen and towels. There is a nice pool to cool down on hot summer days. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.
Friendly and welcoming hosts. Quaint & stylish rooms & decor. Delicious food and awesome, homey vibe. Rooms are packed with amenities & everything you need for a fun stay.
Highly recommended restaurant. We felt like family the moment we arrived. The owners are very hands-on in every aspect of the restaurant. The pizza and lamb shank are excellent. They also welcomed us with open arms , with our puppy of 4 months. Just be aware. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
We didn't stay, but had dinner here. What a lovely, warm place. We were welcomed by friendly dogs and a smiling, local waitress named Jodie who set down an appetiser of blood orange and spices from the garden. We had beetroot risotto (divine!), fish cakes and an amazing lamb shank. The Pofadder white wine is highly recommended. The Yellow House restaurant has cosy corners, decorated with love and meaning, and a unique bathroom. We were checked on, and sent off by the hosts themselves, who walked us through the kitchen, where the chef was plating the most beautiful food with Jodie standing ready to serve. A wonderful part of this quirky town. I still want to go back and experience the pool and stargazing (the night was a bit cold for that!)
What a hidden gem! We loved staying in the Lavender Cottage. It was stocked with everything we needed, and so perfectly cosy I didn't want to leave. The restaurant has an amazing chef and the food was divine! I was also thrilled with the lovely selection of wine and whiskies to choose from. A big thanks to the incredible owner and staff for making us feel at home - we will definitely be back in the summer to try out the pool area ❤️
5 star meal. Stunning food, good service, brilliant evening. Petro, Joubert and team deliver the goods.
Delicious lunch and great service ! Nice stop after the Swartberg Pass ! Service

Very nice place and very good food! I took a vegetarian pizza Safety: Safe parking and area Rooms : 5/5 |
Owner INCREDIBLY incompetent. Would recommend to NO tourists. ITS NOT WHAT YOU SAY ITS HOW YOU SAY IT, especially in front of other guests. Welcome sign is also misleading. Only open to people who book. If it was possible to give 0 stars I would.
Great place to eat great quality burgers or pizza.

A true gem and a real oasis. The rooms are fantastic, clean and very comfortable. The pool in the middle of the orchard is bliss and the stargazing while lying in the hammocks is a must. The on-site restaurant was great too - their pizzas are great, and the lamb shank and gazpacho were delicious too. Note the restaurant is closed on some days (Tuesday&Wednesday when we were there). Everything was perfect!
What a gem of a place - we popped in for a pizza while staying in Prince Albert for the weekend - the owner was very accommodating - friendly and the quality of pizza completely match our expectations and aspirations. Will definitely be recommending the YH to friends & family! THANKS!

A warm welcoming energy and attention to detail. Yellow house is a home for all who travel to Prince Albert. Safety: A safe area to stay over. Noteworthy details: Plus there s a stargazing deck and a pool between the gardens
We had two wonderful dining experiences at Yellowhouse Restaurant, a charming place in Prince Albert. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious and satisfying. For lunch, we enjoyed pizzas with a crispy thin crust and generous toppings. It was delicious, and we loved the homemade tomato sauce. For dinner, we were treated to a feast of mouthwatering dishes. The cheddar soufflé was light and fluffy, with a rich and creamy cheese flavour served with a delicious kumquat preserve. The ostrich bobotie spring rolls were a creative and tasty twist on this traditional South African dish, with a crispy pastry and a spicy filling. The lamb shank was the highlight of the meal, tender and succulent, falling off the bone and served with a red wine sauce that was divine. The portions were generous and the presentation was beautiful. Fabulous selection of amazing South African wines - such a great wine list The hosts, Petro and Joubert, were wonderful and charming, making us feel welcome and comfortable. They also have a beautiful outside space with a view of the mountains and a dam, where we enjoyed lunch and on our second visit watched the sunset. I highly recommend Yellowhouse Restaurant it is a gem of a restaurant that offers quality food, service and atmosphere. I cant wait to go back and try more of their dishes.
Great place and atmosphere for dinner
There is eating. Afternoon wonderful.

We just eaten there. Lovely, tasty food. Best canapés ever. Petro Lotz was a wonderful hostess.
We did not sleep over but would love to do so in future. The set-up looks very nice. I can state though that the service and food were outstanding. Service : 5/5

Lovely food and Vibe
We love meals at The Yellow House. Petro is an amazing chef and the service is excellent. Its not just about this though- she and Joubert create wonderful ambience. Its a meal to treat all the senses.
Had dinner @ Yellow House. Petros meals and menu are amazing. Enjoyed the Lamb shank with Risotto. Great dining experience. Food and drinks: Dinner a MUST
Fantastic setting and decor leaving nothing to be desired on all fronts. Winter meals here are warm and cosy with a roaring fire. Your hosts are gracious and friendly without being overbearing. Meal quality is top class with the kitchen being in full view. Pay special attention to the cheese selection.
We only spent an hour here on route up the Swartberg pass. We were racing and this was just a quick stop to replenish our food stores. However, I wished we had more time to spend. It was simply beautiful! Our hosts fed us the most delicious omlette , made delicious coffee and were simply lovely human beings!
What an incredible place! One of the few places that is truly wheelchair friendly. Well done Joubert and Petro. We will definitely stay there again. Food was of excellent quality. Thanks Jason and everyone who prepared this. Michael and Elsabé Beach
Food and drinks: We visited the restaurant and look forward to visiting again soon! Fresh, thoughtful and delicious. Service
We loved staying at Yellow House. We were 4 people staying in the Ginger and Borrie units. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed walking through the almond orchids and seeing all the fruit trees. We enjoyed a dinner in their on-site restaurant - the chef is very talented. Small menu but you still feel spoiled for choice. Food and drinks: On-site restaurant with a small but great menu. Extensive local wine list. Great quality food.
Fantastic food and service. Always a friendly welcome.
Every moment and experience was beyond expectation. Thank you Petro and Joubert.
What a treat to have spent 3 nights in this little piece of paradise. The hosts are so welcoming, the location is amazing, a quick walk into town. The eating, sleeping and breathing. 10/10 would recommend
Walkability: Within walking distance to the rest of town. Food and drinks: Great food. Friendly owners. Service : 5/5 |
We had dinner here on our first night in Prince Albert, and lunch on Sunday. The food is spectacular, and the attention to detail amazing. Petro, Joubert and their staff are so warm and hospitable .... I cant wait to go back to Prince Albert and enjoy their hospitality again!
After a long day on the road and unforseen circumstances that delayed us to arrive long after we anticipated, we were welcomed with smiles and a beautiful guesthouse. Since the kitchen was already closed when we arrived, Petro made sure we were fed by providing pizza and wine directly to the room. What a beautiful and detail oriented place to stay at and a must see when visiting Prince Albert. Rooms: The self-catering unit we stayed in provided us with everything needed. We got up well rested since the beds are amazing. Very clean and comfortable. Food and drinks: Just one word - AMAZING!!
Petra treated us to a decadent breakfast and then gave us a cooking demonstration with printed recipes while entertaining us with stories and where she sources her fresh produce from. Food and drinks: Culinary experience with local produce.
Amazing location with great food. You can eat in or outside. Small menu but that s a benefit. What you get is honest food and amazing.
Nice, homely atmosphere, dog come and visit us. Flowers everywhere. Food and drinks: Great wine list, delicious food, Great atmosphere Rooms : 4/5 |
They accommodate us on sort notice after we were dropped by Bushmans valley. Excellent place the cloud had a very good silver lining. Would recommend any day.
What a treat staying at the Yellow House. Dog friendly, perfectly located at the edge of the village. Hosts, Petro and Joubert are absolutely wonderful and welcoming. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. However, braai facilities are available or just book one of the many restaurants in the village.
We had dinner at Yellow house earlier this week and it was delicious! From the welcoming amuse-bouche to the lamb shanks, we are wined and dined! The service was excellent and the hosts were very welcoming and attentive. I look forward to returning!
Exceptionally good and creative Christmas lunch buffet. Better than most in places in Cape Town or Joburg.
Awesome stay. Sorry to leave. A definite for your bucket list.
Brilliant food and service. The food was unique but delicious.
Food was outstanding, accommodation was clean and comfortable and its pet friendly- cant ask for much more. That said, the mattress was really well worn- huge indent on the one side- and the prices were a little high for that sort of issue.
Great food we did not stay but restaurant highly recommended
Good food, friendly staff and owners, great service !!
Thank you Joubert, An warm welcome, great service, friendly staff and even with limited staff and main Chef not on site(Mrs Lotz) plating and tasting was 150%, will return and overnight, Warm Regards Jan & Gert Franschhoek
Everything on the menu is amazing, beautiful accommodation
I didnt get to stay at the beautiful Yellow House, but had a wonderful breakfast prepared by Petro and Jouberts barista skills. We then had the privilege of spending the morning with Petro making exquisite bottled relishes and chutneys with ingredients freshly picked from her garden. A fantastic time! Service
What a wonder 2 days staying at Yellow House self catering in Prince Albert. Such a peaceful and relaxing venue to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Early morning sunrises and views are spectacular! Accommodation is top class and has thoughtful touches to make you feel welcome and at home. Highly recommended! Will definitely take the bike with next time to adventure into the mountains. To Petro and Joubert, thank you for your hospitality!
It is such a shame that the person said a bad thing about the yellow house, they are non racist people and if you took the time to look at all the books around you would have seen what a very nice restaurant staff and owners are,but I guess you are just one of those people that just see what you want to see such a shame .
Great food with a great vibe. Best place that we ate at in Price Albert. Adrianos service was also amazing!
A lovely place to visit right at the foot of the Swartberg pass, really charming and so many thoughtful personal touches - great hospitality!
Big Thank you to Petro and Joubert for your hospitality this weekend . The accomodation and especially Petros Mothers day lunch was 5 star. An absolutely stunning place with beautiful views and Cottages. The fully equipped braai facility at the cottage was great. Highly recommended. Hannes and Wendy Muller
Loved our dinner at the Yellow House! Such a warm & inviting space with excellent hosts.
Everything about Yellow House stay over was excellent .
Absolutely 5 star
I can highly recommend staying at the Yellow House Selfcatering units! Thank you Petro for my lovely stay, I would definitely see you again! Rooms
Remarkable guesthouse. Owners very down to earth. Food fabulous
5 of us had dinner at the Yellow House on Sunday evening - every dish served was delicious - made of the freshest ingredients and prepared with attentiveness and care. We met the owner quite by accident at the Farmers Market the day before in the Village and bought the chorizo, lemon curd, Kumquat Relish, Home made Lime Cordial and Almond Milk made that morning from the Almonds grown on their farm. (The almond milk was incredible - best I have ever tasted). We had heard about the the Yellow House and when we realized he was the owner we booked immediately. Many restaurants are closed on Sunday / Mondays - the Yellow House is open and well supported. Beautiful place, relaxed atmosphere and friendly competent service. I look forward to returning some day soon - highly recommended
Tour group enjoyed the evening
Friendly and kind owners. Hygiene and facilities excellent.Great location with mountain views and walking distance from town. Flowers in your unit and fruit from the garden. Love and enjoyed a comfortable stay.
Road tripping included a two night stay at Yellow House and a ramble around Prince Albert. Such great hosts , Petro and Joubert. Excellent dinner - a cassoulet for the Tour de France season - we got the last night luckily- but all of us will need to wait another year before it appears on the menu again. Sure to be new culinary delights awaiting discerning diners though! Fresh ingredients and great ambience made for a wonderful meal prepared by these experienced chefs. Nothing was too much trouble to make our stay a pleasure. We ll certainly be back.
Very good place to stay. Very friendly hosts. Love the detail in rooms
Run by an amazing couple who are attentive and creative. Their food is amazing as well.
My friends and I had a wonderful dinner at Yellow House. The atmosphere was relaxed, cosy and welcoming and the service was spot on. The food was an absolute highlight and if we could have eaten at Yellow House every night we absolutely would have. We loved every single dish that we ordered. In fact Im still dreaming of the lamb chops and lentil bobotie. We did not stay in the cottages however from what we could see they looked charming. And if dinner was anything to go by then I could only imagine how welcoming the hosts would be.
Petro and Joubert are amazing hosts and their food is next level amazing. If you in the area make sure to stop over.
Personification of the word Gem. What an awesome spot, with the most welcoming hosts. The rooms were beautifully decorated and exceptionally well equipped. Loved the homely feeling. The food at Yellow House Eat was fantastic. We will go back in a heartbeat. Thankq Joubert and Petro!

Very good service, excellent food. The atmosphere in and outside the restaurant presented a warm welcoming. Overall very happy
The best
I would recommend this beautiful guesthouse in Prins Albert. The owner and his family are friendly, warm and welcoming. They have cooked heartwarming meals with a touch of class. If you are into adventure biking, the owner can take you on a journey in surrounding areas that will be tough and memorable.
Great place great Stay great restaurants great everything
What a wonderful stay we had! The owners really went the extra mile with superb food and wine and the accommodation was excellent in every way. Really loved it and absolutely recommend it!
Very nice people. Very neat
Lovely self catering cottage on the edge of Prince Albert! I highly recommend!
What an incredible time shared with Joubert and Petro, owners of the Yellow House Guesthouse in Prince Albert. We came to support our friends riding in the Karoo Gravel Grinder and one of our experiences was visiting this very special place and couple. They make the perfect team, Joubert with his knowledge of the farming and hosting side of things and Petro being an absolute Master Chef in all facets of the kitchen [cooking classes, baking prepping, paring etc.] If you ever find yourselves in the Prince Albert area, this is a must stop and stay. It was truly an Awesome experience and we will go out of our route to visit them again! Gabbi and Marianna
What an awesome time
What amazingly friendly and service focused hosts. We stay there for one night then when on a 3 day bikes ride. The accommodations was comfortable and there we some nice touches. We park our cars their and on return got offered tea a coffee and a refreshing swim in the dam. Thanks we will be back.
My fiancé and I had a wonderful stay at the Yellow House - from my fiancés very first enquiry to our hosts, Petro and Jouberts (as well as Diesel and his friend), warm welcome to seeing us off into the Karoo at the end of our trip. While staying at the Yellow House, we received friendly and quality standard service. The owners truly went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable while at the guesthouse and that we had a list of ample things to see and do outside while visiting the small town of Prince Albert. Some things that stood out to us was: - The accessibility (my fiance is a wheelchair user and we were extremely impressed by how equipped the unit was) - The tasteful and undoubtedly creative decor - The variety of coffee options, including Nespresso favourites, and the delicious rusks - The handmade soaps - The moisturizing handmade lotion that doubles as an insect repellent - Eskom-friendly, and alternative, lighting options - The peace and tranquility of the location on the outskirts of town whilst being within walking distance from just about everything - The views: Karoo hills by day and stars by night We are extremely thankful for the hospitality and would highly recommend staying at the Yellow House.
Great spot, lovely owners, clean and well equiped accommodation. Great views, nice touches and cyclist friendly.
Fantastic dinner experience
A warm, hospitable, friendly, Karoo venue. Without a doubt a working kitchen, run by experienced and competent chefs. We are going for a meal on Friday, I cant wait.
