Really rude and not really interested in taking your money. Doing stupid jokes about being fully booked but not fully booked is not my thing. Adding the bill up incorrectly by increasing the amount owed by 25%. Don t give me schintzels out of a frozen factory made box. Rather spend your money at the other restaurants in town.

Unique food from the area and a very pleasant atmosphere, and safe to park or walk to. If you love dulce de leche (with a hint of mint) you will love this under-appreciated South African desert: peppermint tart.

What a special place! You can taste how each meal and dessert is made with love and Karoo pride. The owner and her waiting staff are lovely. I ll go back to Prins Albert just for another dining experience at The Rude Chef!

Wonderful little bistro with a good variety of options for dinner. The Karoo leg of lamb is tender as can be and the veggies crunchy fresh. Would definitely recommend a visit when passing through Prince Albert

Wonderful meal. We had the platters. Lamb platter was excellent, just the right size portions.

An amazing meal springbok carpaccio with Camembert, Karoo lamb and a brandy and date pudding made a perfect combo. Nice white, red, and desert wine by the glass to go with each. Service was efficient and friendly some interesting artworks display.

I arrived in the late afternoon in Prince Albert, I did not realise that one had to book at most restaurants. At The Rude Chef they refused outright to be hospitable for one person to sit and have a meal. Even though they claimed to be fully booked there were still many tables open inside and 2 open outside .. so by the time one person orders a drink and meal, starts eating the other booked guests might have arrived so the kitchen would cope. I really was disgusted that as a visitor the place refused outright to allow ONE person to sit I am suprised that a previous review stated they were 5 people and the restaurant hospitable made space for them even though almost fully booked but they refuse outright to allow ONE paying customer to sit .. its not much effort from the kitchen or staff for one extra person. Utterly disgusted to say the least.

Excellent service Delicious food Lamb was falling apart It was cooked to perfection.Lamb curry and Mediterranean Lamb all delicious and the place is pet friendly . Definitely worth a visit .I highly recommend a stop there.

We were looking for a place to have dinner. When we saw lamb on the menu we decided to eat here. They have a few things they sell as well. Some of Jac de Priesters colourful items as well. The smell coming out of that kitchen is to die for. The service was good. The lamb was succulent and tender and the veggies were fabulous. Yvonne had a pie with potato wedges, and salad, also well prepared. This was a healthy dinner and worthwhile. The Rude Chef will definitely be on my list for the next time as well.

So I just done Swartberg Pass solo on my motorcycle after touring the Western Cape. I arrived in Prince Albert hungry and thirsty. Rode around in the main street and wanted a chilled place to have lunch and a beer and just relax. I ended up here. This was arguably the best cheese burger I had. The owner was so friendly and this place did everything right. Really really enjoyed my meal and little bit relax here.

Expectations were exceeded with the delicious and portions of the food. Really a very pleasant dining experience. Service was excellent. Next road trip we will have to visit again.

Stayed overnight in Prince Albert. Was recommended to go to the Rude Chef for dinner. Nothing pretentious - just wonderful Platteland food, nicely served . We both had the Karroo roast lamb with veggies......absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient, despite there being a large end-of-year function on. Had a great evening.....would willingly return.

We had dinner and the chef (owner) was anything but rude . We had the lasagne which was excellent and the portions were more than enough. The dessert was tipsy tart and I was not satified with only one, never will be. Great relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We arrived quite late in Prince Albert and although the place was nearly fully booked, the friendly owner quickly organized a table for our group of 5. Nice eatery in the country. Food is good, not enough non-alcoholic options though. Friendly staff. Our dog was welcome. Vegetarian options: Few options.

Staff - super friendly Setting- Nice But for R150 you only get three slices of lamb and veggies. So really overpriced compared to the other restaurants. So if you not hungry try it but someone use to a R300 steak should rather pass and have a 300g steak at the hotel for the same price .

I arrived in PA late yesterday and was looking for somewhere relaxing to wind down and enjoy some good old Karoo hospitality and local food. What a pleasant surprise when I found this place. Food was amazing I had the venison pie with mash, veggies and pickled quinces 10/10! I ll now have to go tell my dad his venison pie is not the best I ve tasted Menu is small but in my experience its a good thing. Service was excellent! The only thing I didn t like was the name of the restaurant as there s nothing rude about anyone, all lovely people. If you re from overseas and from countries where you don t tip remember to do so generously over here. The locals depend on your generosity in exchange for good service

Today s Special: Lamb Curry. What was supposed to be a est. 6h30m trip to Prince Albert turned into +10h drive due to a flat tyre. This speciality was goodness to the soul, and exactly what we needed! The meat portion was generous, everything on this plate was delicious and reminiscent of a home cooked traditional Sunday brunch Edit 16 Aug 2022: We love this bistro so much that we came back 3 nights in a row. Pork ribs for our last supper . Thank you for your hospitality!

Stunning food and great staff with a wonderful atmosphere

We did not visit Prince Albert for 2 years and we were very pleased to find this new restaurant. The menu is rather short which is from my point of view a good idea to make sure to have freshly cooked foods and no waste. The choice of food was enough, very good. Choice of wines is large enough. Service is pleasant and fast. We enjoyed talking with the Rude Chef who was very pleasant and gave us some tips on what to see and and visit in the area. Very pleasant experience. Not even mentioning that I particurlarly enjoy the atmosphere friendly but very professional . Price is very reasonnable.

The Rude Chef restaurant in Prins Albert certainly lives up to its name. We had dinner there recently and found the chef both rude and unaplogetic. The butternut soup starter, lasagne and mellanzane dishes should have been on the desert menu. When challenged about the overwhelming sweetness of her food her attitude was defensive. To add insult to injury our salads came in two cracked (not chipped) plates.

Service is slow and apparently booking is essential in the evening though it wasnt really busy.

This was our first time at this restaurant it was a very disappointing experience. The food was very average and small portions compared to across the road. Overpriced for what you get. The ambiance was nice and it s centrally located. Not to shame this establishment, but rather go across the road to the hotel.

Really pleasant owner/chef despite the name, apparently this is a local nickname from before she owned this restaurant. We had good food and great conversations with her and saw her chatting to all the customers.
