@sandandpearlpec Est. 2017. Oyster bar and seafood joint located in the heart of Prince Edward County. Laid back, breezy vibes with two large patios, a cozy indoor dining room and backyard campfire. Seafood towers and champagne alongside cheeseburgers, fish n’ chips and cold beers. Everyone is welcome. Nice Dogs too. Make a reservation on our website www.sandandpearloysterbar dot com
We ordered a double cheeseburger, fried pickerel and chips, chowder, steak, and a lobster roll. The prices were a bit too high, likely due to the tourist-heavy crowd and the fact that the restaurant is only open from summer to fall. A small cup of chowder was $18, more expensive than what I’ve had in downtown Toronto. The $44 lobster roll was delicious but quite small, and it came with a mini bag of Lay’s chips that you could probably find at a dollar store. The food tasted great overall, but the atmosphere was average, and the chairs were uncomfortably cold. The friendliness of the staff really added to the experience, though! As others have mentioned, the food took a while to come out, but it was still manageable.
Went for a private event (wedding), and we were absolutely spoiled, with the food, drinks and service. They did everything to make it such a cozy and memorable experience for the guests. The food was delicious!
Good food with great service. However, we think it is over priced for a diner setting restaurant. For a $150 porterhouse, the size is good, but I would expect for that price, I would have perhaps some specialty salt or sides that comes with it. They also have good oysters, but again they are a bit over priced, perhaps it’s the location.
The food and drinks were all delicious. We sat on their back patio with our dog and everyone was so friendly! There was also a big area for kids to play out back. Would recommend going here if you are in the area and looking for some good seafood.
It's absolutely amazing restaurant, good vibe, tidy and clean ! Sean is amazing person! He explan everything we asked with patience! I can't say anything about food quality! Wonderful.
I could not recommend this place enough. The food is outstanding, and our server Katie went above and beyond; she is without a doubt the backbone of the restaurant. If you ever have the chance to visit the county, I strongly suggest you ask for Katie as your server and try their lobster roll, smoked trout, and fresh oysters, you will not be disappointed. Love it!
We had a great experience at S&P. We were friendly greeted as soon as we walked in and immediately felt welcomed and loved the decor/atmosphere. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. PEI oysters were beautiful, good size and had fantastic flavor with all the fixings. Pickerel and chips were fried to perfection and the coleslaw and tartar sauce were unique and delicious! We had the coconut cream pie for dessert which was a huge slice and perfect for sharing. And the starwberry margarita was delish! Would definitely recommend and will be making S&P a go to spot for our yearly visits to PEC.
A bit pricey, but get this! You can enjoy your food around a huge fire pit. Staff is awesome and food is very good. They've got some fancy stuff too, like caviar, huge steak, snow crab and lobster. Don't get fooled by the seeming simplicity of the front.
Came for lunch , riding our bikes from Sandbanks Provincial Park. The food was amazing, along with the presentation and variety. The staff are so accommodating. What a great place to just sit back and enjoy inside or outside on the patio. Well done team. Dietary restrictions: There is vegetarian items as well as a tentative understanding of allergies.
Beautiful location Dietary restrictions: Accommodates vegetarian if anyone is curious Food : 5/5 |
My 4th time visiting but was disappointed with the porterhouse steak. Was supposed to be 45oz for $150 which was sharable for 4 people but what came out was hardly enough for 2. Left feeling we got a terrible value. Avoid the steak! The sides were small for the price (salad, slaw, chips). The seafood we ordered was received well (snow crab, pickerel). Stick to the seafood.
Honestly this has nothing to do with food. But this is my second attempt trying to go to the restaurant and having reservations and the restaurant doesnt communicate that they are not opening until 3pm or closed for the season. Dont alloy people to book reservations if you arent opening. Or at least communicate that you are cancelling your reservation for lunch. Very poor communication. We received no phone call or email saying that things hand changed, otherwise I wouldnt have any reason to write this review . Had reservation for 3 people on Sunday at 12 (see photo attached) We had no missed calls on the day or prior and no email letting us know.
Although the service was friendly, it was unprofessional and slow. We had to wait a lengthy time to get our food after waiting a long time to order. 45 minutes after we ordered we were told something we ordered was not available. We were not asked if we wanted additional drinks while we waited approximately 80 minutes for food, all of which was easy to prepare (e.g. shrimp cocktail, chowder that would already be prepared). Tables that came in 45 minutes after us got their food (hot food that would take more time to prepare) just after we got our food. To top it off, we waited 10 minutes after our food was finished before a server came by to ask if we were done. No apologies were provided. There was no recognition of how long we were waiting for food. As a table of three, it appears the larger tables were prioritized and there was no care or concern for how long we had to wait. I would not be writing this review if we had just received a simple acknowledgement and apology. Consistent with this attitude, when I left a much smaller tip than normal, no one asked if everything had been ok. Perfect strategy to alienate your customers. I will be telling everyone I know to avoid this place.
I just tried to order two Chowders for take out and the kitchen said it was to difficult and would only serve me if I dined in.
Amazing service from Laura, food was great and oysters amazing. Would definitely recommend
We absolutely loved having our rehearsal dinner at Sand and Pearl! Everything from the staff, the food, and the atmosphere was perfect. They made the start of our wedding weekend truly special. Our guests couldnt stop raving about all the food and drinks. From the start, communicating with Nicole was easy and stress-free. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an intimate and memorable dining experience!
Good food good service they come to your table with a smile nobody s grumpy and the food is not way you want it.
Tasty food, good service and nice place specially in the backyard.
A place that at first glance seems like nothing. This is to be mistaken because it is a quality restaurant. Oysters, mussels and delicious dessert. No complaints. A visit is essential. Everything is exceptional.
Definitely best seafood in the county!!
Nice atmosphere, good service! The food is very good although there was an earwig on a green leaf! The negative point is that the price of a bloody Caesar is $21 and a virgin Caesar is $12 with the glass half filled with ice which makes it taste more like water than anything else. In addition we received no compensation for the earwig. Paid bill of $630 for 4 people!
Best lobster roll ever !! On the expensive side but totally worth it for fresh and good seafood!
A casual but quality seafood restaurant. Great service, drinks and food! Must try if in the area.
Overpriced and disappointing. We were looking forward to Sand & Pearl for our last dinner in PEC as we all enjoy raw oysters and were pleased to see some decent seafood options and kids items as well. The $21 Caesar was bland, though garnished impressively, and special peach/basil marg had no flavour. Oysters were good, a couple weren t super fresh and felt a bit off as they went down. Small portions of mignonette and hot sauce were served in paper cups that barely stayed together. I m not sure how a seafood place messes up the most basic of seafood classics, but the mussels came out on a plate with the fires on top. Not in a bowl, covered with a second for the empty shells. Mussels were cold and the fries were soggy; not even a full pound for $27. Had to request a bowl for empty shells, was given a small side plate, had to request a spoon for the sauce and was given a teaspoon. By the time the kids got 1/2way through their burgers (that weren t cooked all the way through), the 3rd server we had since our arrival finally came by so we asked for the bill. Won t be back and won t recommend.
Friendliest restaurant in PEC. Food is high quality and very fresh. Our favourite place for seafood in the County!
Its a scam at this price, service and environment. $30 for 4 large but standard shrimp. Not even respect: Bottle of wine served in a Spiderman bucket.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at Sand and Pearl, a cozy restaurant, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the warm and inviting ambiance. To start the meal, we were treated to freshly served oysters, a true testament to the restaurants commitment to providing high-quality seafood. These oysters were a burst of oceanic freshness and set the tone for what was to come. One of the most unexpected yet surprisingly delicious dishes was the Scallop Ceviche mixed in with actual Sweet Chili Heat Doritos. It was a fusion of flavors and textures that worked surprisingly well together. The Doritos added a delightful crunch and a hint of spice to the otherwise refreshing ceviche. Moving on to the main courses, the Lobster and Lamb Chops were the stars of the show. The lobster was succulent and flavorful, cooked to perfection. The lamb chops were equally outstanding, tender and seasoned to perfection, leaving a lasting impression. To complement the meal, the drinks were excellent. The restaurant clearly takes pride in its beverage selection, and it showed in the quality and presentation of the cocktails. In conclusion, my dining experience at this restaurant was a memorable one. The combination of fresh oysters, unexpected flavor pairings like the Scallop Ceviche with Doritos, and the outstanding Lobster and Lamb Chops made for a truly enjoyable meal. If youre looking for a unique and delicious culinary adventure, this restaurant is worth a visit.
What a beautiful atmosphere found in this restaurant that looks like a distant vacation. Courteous staff, smiles galore. The oyster dish was impeccably fresh. The fish n chips were a real delight with the accompaniment of homemade fries, coleslaw and a special tartar sauce. For dessert, we were treated to the pinnacle of pie: the coconut pie! A large portion of this dessert is served and must be shared between two people. We will return there, for sure!
Nice place
Friendly staff, like everywhere in PEC. Good place if you like oysters, we had fish and chips and the trout toast, they were just okay. Both were quite bland, the trout toast severely needed salt or something. The pickerel fried fish had skin on it which really grossed out my daughter. I just found the restaurant extremely highly priced for a setting with flies and sitting on wooden picnic benches. If youre going to serve a $45 mains such as lobster roll and ribeye, maybe a tablecloth would be nice?!
Came in and waited to be seated. Was completely ignored by staff.
Loved it! Great service, great food! This is now our new go to restaurant.
I ve been to Sand & Pearl a few times over the last few years and while it s aesthetically a nice spot, it s really overpriced for what you get. The food is good, but absolutely not worth the high price tag - $36 for shrimp cocktail felt excessive, especially for 4-5 shrimp. The service also isn t great, but I don t think that s the fault of the servers. Whenever we ve gone, the servers have been polite and friendly, but they seem stretched too thin, as we ve had to track down our servers for drink refills or to get napkins/cutlery. All of that said, the decor is cute and there s a good mix of indoor and outdoor space, so it is a neat spot. If you go, expect a pretty limited menu with very few economical options, but a nice (albeit buggy, if you re outside) atmosphere.
Quality is not worth the price paid
The absolute best tiny little mug of Seafood chowder and a bun Ive had in Ontario. $33.90 after tax and tip and then I had to go get a hamburger afterwards down the road. Totaly worth it and extremely well made....if you are willing to buy 2 or 3 main courses for lunch.
Smoked trout was outstanding!!
Beauty spot. The food is super good - outstanding seafood and that burger YUM!! Staff is great and always a welcoming vibe. It s a must stop when in the county.
We had the pleasure of visiting this chill and laid back restaurant in West Lake. We sat in the backyard at the picnic tables, surrounded by trees and lush greenery, and of course we got to enjoy their signature bonfire. We started with a variety of fresh oysters, followed by a rich seafood chowder, that really hit the spot! We finished off our meal with the seared yellowfin tuna nicoise, served with local fresh vegetables, and a lovely vinaigrette. Amazing choices of beer and wine. If youre looking for quality food, great service and sweet, sweet vibes then this is worth the visit!! And we cannot wait to return this summer!
I made a reservation at the Sand and Pearl along with another couple. We are seafood lovers and were looking forward to a foodie experience. We were not disappointed!! We ordered the seafood tower and it exceeded our expectations! The seafood was fresh, cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious We are looking forward to another season of wonderful seafood at the Sand and Pearl.
Hidden Gem in Prince Edward County. Great Food, Welcoming and attentive staff. Nice spot for a romantic dinner or family get together. Make sure you visit the Fire Pit back of dining room
This is such a fabulous spot. I recommend anyone who is in the area to stop by staff or super friendly and the food is simply delicious. Its a must go.
Pretty place to bring friends or family but way too expensive $$$$ for PEC For just TWO people it was about $150~ and we ordered the cheapest things on the menu.. Oysters were just ok. I think they said a seafood platter was $300+ and a sandwich with lobster in it was $45~.. I got a Double Cheeseburger, it was about $30 for two tiny patties, don t recommend. - overall for someone who grew up in the county this is kind of crazy prices for PEC. Pickerel was just ok but waited a while for the food and it was kind of cold when we got it. Some nice people working there but missed the mark when it came to the food quality for the price they charge. Had better and cheaper seafood in Toronto.
The most exquisite fish I have tried in Canada with delicious sauces, the burger is charming and delicious. They have an extensive beer menu and their service is very special. The service is fast and parking is a pleasure (no problem)
Very disappointed by the restaurant : - overpriced food (very basic quality, small size) and poor execution (almost cold fries, skin left in the fish and chips ) - irrespectful clientele and helpless staff (some clients were shouting very loudly for 15min, no action from the staff, not exactly the atmosphere you expect from a restaurant at this price point)
We popped in during a rainstorm not knowing anything about this place. Turns out its a charming and delicious seafood restaurant that is both elevated and casual. We had the fish and chips - perfectly fried pickerel - an assortment of fresh oysters, ceviche mixed with Doritos (just go for it, so good), and farm fresh seasonal asparagus in a bernaise sauce. Service was friendly but professional. A gem in PEC
I feel like 5 stars doesn t do it justice. The food was incredible. Ceviche tasted so fresh and perfectly balanced; Doritos were the icing on the cake . Even though we had to wait a little bit for a table - the ambiance and friendly staff made the wait easy. We didn t get his name but the owner/manager was very friendly not only to his guests, but to his employees as well. One thing I would recommend is that somebody offered a drink while we were waiting. Lots of people complain about the wait but it s par for the course in general in this area during a busy time.
Cozy restaurant with a charming owner and friendly staff! The clam chowder wasnt as creamy as the ones you would get in New England, but overall everything else was fresh and good. The in season asparagus entree was actually my favourite dish. Its definitely on the more expensive side though, so be ready for that!
Nice spot for sure. This is definitely NOT a regular chip shop though. They do have one battered fish plate as well as other types of seafood, but it is quite a different meal experience than any fish n chip place. Definitely the place to go for oysters! The food is quite pricey, but also delicious, and the staff were very friendly
Our experience here was great! We were greeted with a smile, and everyone there was so friendly. Food was amazing. We ordered the Clam chowder and seafood tower- both were delicious. The Seafood tower came with so much variety and had so much flavour. You can see whats in the tower on their online menu. The restaurant is quaint, with the mismatched plates and cute wine buckets. It was all of the little touches that had me smiling, from the gold fish crackers with the soup, to the smile sand bucket (used as a wine bucket). Thank you Sand and Pearl for a lovely dinner and great experience! If youre looking for fancy this isnt it, but dont let it stop you from trying it, because this place is worth it. Parking: Parking is available on the grounds, but its a small parking lot
Friendly staff, great food, and great atmosphere!
The food is ok, the staff is very nice but is pretty expensive for what is it.
You guys made a perfect closing for our weekend at the Prince Edward County. From the look and feel of the restaurant, to the music, to the friendly and cheerful stuff, to great food. You are now on out best restaurants list. Thank you for the oysters and the chowder and the fish. And thank you for this great and warm experience
We brought our kids with us (2&4) and sat in the rear patio area. They had a blast running around and playing while we enjoyed dinner and drinks! Food was excellent, and our server Josie was very polite and attentive. Our favourite place to visit with the kids in PEC for sure!
June 2023: in PEC again and had to come back! We split the seafood tower and some fries (between 4 of us) with some wine for a fun lunch. Everything was fresh and delicious. Love the patio atmosphere. Kids menu has been added..... we will bring them next time! June 2021: Amazing seafood: we had the lobster bao and burger with lobster and both were perfect. Dessert tasted home made and delicious. Tons of outdoor seating out back and excellent service. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu and plenty of outdoor space to run around
Very very good!! Everything is excellent, it was so fresh, a must. The waiter even insisted on practicing his French... very friendly.
Great meal and service! If you are in the area, this restaurant would be highly recommended. We were provided service by Kevin, and he was very knowledgeable of the dishes and gave great wine recommendations. Kid-friendliness: Our daughter came with us, and she was very well treated and provided with great options for her childrens meal.
Great seafood place we tried while at the county recommended.
WoW! We were impressed! The food is excellent, the service impeccable. We strongly recommend
Awesome spot go taste their lobster roll!!
Second time here and loved it again! Spicy margarita is quite possibly the best Ive had. Everyone is super friendly and the food is great.
The lobster roll is so good. Staff are very friendly and the location is great. Great service
Amazing time last night at the Sand & Pearl Oyster Bar - 100% recommend the Clam Bake
Fresh Oyster, chill place! All servers are friendly. Need to wait a bit for food but it worths. A bit pricey. Remember to have reservation.
Food is amazing. Service is good. Prices are outrageous.
You cant go wrong if you are looking a casual Summer vibe with some excellent seafood and friendly service. We started with oysters, served fresh of course. The stand-out appetizer for us was the Caldosa, which we were told was a play on traditional Chilean street food. Scallop cerviche mixed in with actual Sweet Chili Heat Doritos. We both had the buttered lobster rolls which were decadent buttery. No need to dress up for dinner here! The restaurant has a nice enclosed patio, with indoor seats if you prefer and a backyard picnic table section (pull out the bibs for the whole lobsters!), with a campfire pit going to keep the kids entertained while the adults finish their drinks.
Service was good but this place is ridiculously overpriced. Mid food which was underwhelming. I have been to restaurants that can charge these prices but this isnt one of them. Sorry folks but I wont be back.
Eat here every time we come to PEC
Well don t go in busy hours you will miss your dishes and it took 20 mins for just sundae (it melted too),bad service +18% mandatory tips w 8+ people (even 2 of us are less than 3 years old).
Excellent and friendly service. Some of the menu items are a tad overpriced. Lobster roll for 44$, and although its very tasty, the side of chips doesnt warrant that price. If there had been coleslaw or a salad then it would be worth it. Still recommend the dish though. The ceviche was fantastic. The fish and chips was a bit lackluster. Choice of cocktails is small and overpriced for the quantity. I got the Aperol Spritz, which came in a Whiskey glass (thats a no) and there was barely any Aperol and definitely no prosecco. It was all soda water. Great choices for oysters and these were delicious. Definitely check it out, maybe have a beer instead of a cocktail. Kid-friendliness: Family resto, many with kids. Large area and seating available. Wheelchair accessibility: Resto is on ground floor.
We were a large group and the servers did an amazing job with all of us. Food was nice and fresh. Oysters were a bit disappointing, but the fish was great. Price per food ratio is really high. Even after paying over $100, you shouldn t be hungry.
Super friendly staff!! Beautiful atmosphere and delicious we loved it!!
Everything is absolutely perfect here!!! The food, the service and the staff!!
Delicious & fresh food. Highly recommend and would definitely come back!
First I want to say the service was great, they made sure we had an unforgettable experience. Second the food was just perfect, very light and fresh, even the dessert was delicious. Would definitely recommend. We came came from montreal and would come back for sure. Enjoy
Very bad experience in sandbanks, probably too many customers with a quite few waiters. Absolutely overrated restaurant with overpriced food. And it is confused that my daughter s kid s fish & chips got bigger size than adult s fish & chips. To compare with, we even had a much better bbq dinner the other day at beach!
To start, I really want to preface that the owner is very nice and even fit us into a spot on the terrace even though they didn t have any free tables. We appreciated it very much. However the server we had really didn t explain to us how everything worked and we were super disappointed with the food we received. Plates aren t divided by entre or meal versions, meaning it s really difficult to know what (and what size of meal) you re going to get unless you are familiar with the menu. For example, as lovely as the place was, I got a glass of wine and a 40$ tiny entre (that I thought was a meal) and I left spending over 75$. I feel like this could have been avoided with a bit of explanation of the menu and more clarity about the portion sizes. Final review; great owner, good reception, but the server we had was just trying to up-sell us at all times and it was quite transparent and unclassy. We left a little disappointed.
After almost a year of trying to find a time to come here we got a table. Our host Josie was a great waitress. She was a great communicator who actually listened her customers and i am only wishing that many of her field colleagues were like her. This place is a bit off the beaten path unless you re visiting a Sandbanks provincial park, but a great spot for a seafood lover. This year you can taste oysters from BC : Effingham, such a delicious taste. The rest of our orders, raspberry point oysters, honey moon oysters ( yes, we love oysters), yellow fin tuna, local pickerel and scallops left us a very happy customers. Paired all with Chablis and your evening is a success. Highly suggest you make an effort to get there at least once and then who knows, maybe it will be your happy place.
Eccellent food and very friendly service
Sand and Pearl better close their dore ) poor service food not iven close to the prices
We ask for salt and we had it brought to us, the service is very slow and the food costs less than the asking price
This is a very average place in terms of price/quality. We had oysters, shrimps, scallop, corn and wine. The shrimps and the corn were the highlights.
Great food!
Incredible little spot. Food, atmosphere and service were all incredible. We can t wait to return!!
Great spot - we stopped for Sunday lunch on our way through PEC and were very happy! Kid-friendliness: Great spot for kids, plenty of space to run in the back area.
Sat at the patio in the back. Relaxing atmosphere. Everyone loved the food. Especially the lobster roll!
Beautiful atmosphere, good food and Kimberley gave us very good service; in French! The reason why I only give this restaurant 2 stars is the ASTRONOMICAL cost of the bill. 4 people, 4 lobster rolls (the least expensive item apart from a hamburger), accompanied by store-bought chips which have suffered the effects of humidity , 3 starters, 1 beer, 1 Virgin Bloody Caesar and 1 Margarita. Almost $400.00 for only staying there for 1:05 hours Considering the price of a plate, in a restaurant where everything is à la carte, homemade chips would have been appropriate! For several years, we have wanted to experience the Sand and Pearl. We did it but we wont be going there again. After sharing our experience with locals, we were informed that, unfortunately, the issue of the exorbitant cost of a meal at the Sand and Pearl is regularly raised by tourists. These same people therefore suggested other restaurants where next year we can go and eat tasty fish and seafood, at a much lower cost!
2023 UPDATE: Popped by on the weekend for lunch and had a fantastic time. The oysters and clams were SO GOOD. I m still thinking about them. I will say the lobster in my lobster roll seemed slightly over done but was still an enjoyable meal. The staff were wonderful, as was my drink, and the overall atmosphere. Can t wait to go back. 2019: Came just for a drink and a small bite. The food and drink was great, even though we just had something small so I feel as though I cant completely comment on the food. The atmosphere was really nice and our server was really nice! Every staff member we interacted with was great.
Amazing!! Highly recommend!!
If you are craving of lobster roll from Maine visit and try their lobster roll Fast service and hospitable staff .Will keep coming back once in sandbanks.
Nothing like it. Live the casual beach vibe Food
So delicious and a great vibe!
The food was very good but rather pricey The food was very good but rather expensive
Delicious food. Worth the price.
Very clearly understaffed. We arrived at 7pm and were already 86ing numerous items on the menu and had to wait quite a while to be seen. Its popular for a reason and the food was excellent, but a few things to improve on.
One of my favourites!
Terrible and pretty rude service. The only person who helped us was an eleven year old food runner. He was much more professional than the manager. Food was OK but really not near the price point theyre going for. Vegetarian options: Vegan option was inedible! My parents left their whole meal. Do not order the tempeh!
A pleasant surprise. It was oyster fest today so we decided to stop in. Ordered a huge tray of oysters and took them down in no time. Great service. Fun conversations. Highly recommended
What can I say always a fabulous dinner.
The food and location are excellent. The oyster selection was diverse and delicious. Best fish and chips Ive ever had! The staff was very friendly and the service was exceptional. We will absolutely be back.
Wow what an amazing restaurant, if u go to sandbanks beach u have to try this restaurant! Staff is amazing and they r always welcoming , I ordered the double cheese burger and let me tell u it was out of this world, it was sooo delicious and moist , definitely made fresh not frozen ! The oysters as well were sooo good the place is just a little bit pricy but worth it if u r looking for high quality and good food , definitely recommend it !
Food was good !
Great atmosphere and excellent food. Its a little pricey, but worth it on occasion.
We visited on 6/3/2022 with three people in our party. We ordered a dozen oysters, Vietnamese tiger shrimp cocktail, mini fish n chips, and Linguine & Littleneck Clams topped with butter poached lobster. We had an incredible time eating in the backyard and our server was exceptional. Fish n chips, and the linguine were incredible. The chef also shared a Fanny Bay Oyster with us, on the house. We would highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
I really liked the place. I ate the most delicious mussels in this establishment. Everything is very tasty, very nice staff and the owner of the establishment himself, but there is one thing - very high prices.
This place was fantastic. The food was served fresh and fast. Our server was kind and ensured we had everything we needed for a delicious meal.
First time visiting the restaurant but will not be coming back. The portion is abnormally small for the price range.
$48 for a lobster sandwich is a tad expensive but 5 stars for excellent service & very tasty food.
Food was really incredible, but so was the pricing. It was so highly marked up, I understand its a business in the middle of a rural area but a cheeseburger for 25$ seems excessive.
Fantastic restaurant with fantastic service. Great oysters, great desserts, and every meal was beyond delicious. The owner and wait staff were knowledgeable and super friendly. Will absolutely go back again.
Amazing staff, delicious food, and really beautiful and unique restaurant. Will definitely return every time we visit PEC.
Always the best service (most recently Mikayla B!!). Incredible food, incredible vibe. It s no secret it s my favourite place in the county!
Great food and staff!
The food and service were the fastest and best ive experienced in years. Everything tasted great. The whole area is a treasure
We went there to treat ourselves, and we were very happy to find a seafood tower with everything on the menu. It was very sunny, so we could enjoy it in the garden. Our waiter Drew gave us an exceptional service!
Got 2 burgers a glass of wine and the scallop ceviche. Wine and fries were good but everything else was sub par. If youre looking to drop 500$ this is the place to go
We came in on a Saturday evening and had the seafood tower and Nutella beignets. The patio is lovely and staff are excellent. This place is a must for me with every visit to Prince Edward County
Loved the oysters and the fish!
Great burger! And oysters, clams & linguini and seafood chowder and kids fish & chips. Owner, Owners dad, and staff are great. A must stop while in the county. Our best meal of the weekend. Kids had fun in the large back yard during a sunny afternoon.
great food! staff were lovely too. the place is cute
Very tasty seafood although a bit on the pricey side. 4 stars for the food because of the price. Otherwise very good. 3 stars because they didnt tell us before sitting down we couldnt separate the bill although they claim to be as transparent as possible. Turned into a thing as one of our party ordered quite a lot more than the rest and wanted to have it itemized and couldnt. EDIT: while it may be noted on the menu (I guess all four of us missed it being clearly marked) it was not mentioned or noted before we started ordering, which was the feedback I was trying to provide.
Acceptable establishment and service, nothing more. The presence of ants on the terrace was slightly disappointing Excellent oysters. Delicious food, but the prices were too expensive in our opinion. Strangely, the transaction fee was added to our bill and the tipping options only started at 18%.
The pickerel and chips were amazing, taste and portions were great. We ate on the back patio and were uncomfortable with all the little ants all over the tables.
The service is not good. The food is mediocre and absolutely overpriced.
Very yummy! Plus they have an outdoor garden where the kids can play.
I def would not recommend this place. Not worth the money. No prob paying higher prices if you get the service and food expected for those prices. From the moment we walked in we got attitude from the hostess about wanting to be seated indoors instead of on the outdoor patio. The food was basic so the prices werent warranted. WATCH OUT FOR A 2% TRANSACTION FEE. Even if you pay with cash they will still charge you. Makes no sense, right?!? Shady way of doing stuff imo. Wish we had a better experience. I just hope people read this before deciding on going here. Edit...if you want to add an arbitrary 2% tax, say its because of COVID or inflation, dont call it a transaction fee cause that leads people to believe its added to non-cash transactions that require a machine. My wife and I saw it on the menu and said to ourselves well just pay cash so its no problem. An extra $5 wouldnt get my ire up but the managers explanation did not explain everything. All she said was everybody is either doing it or will be doing it soon, so you have to pay it. If I was a different person, it would have just meant less of a tip for the server but she was nice and friendly.
Very kind staff. They let our dogs in the patio gave them water and treats. The food was delicious.
Meh. This place has an awesome reputation but it s not the high-end seafood place it wants to be. I was expecting way more from reading other reviews.
We had the Fanny Bay oysters, so fresh and so good! Excellent service as well.
place is extremely overpriced for anything other than oysters ($3.50-$4.75). - We ordered the Linguine and Clams which was absolutely not worth $37 for this pasta dish - it just tasted like salty butter pasta. - fish and chips felt extremely heavy and you could taste/feel a lot of oil in the batter
Service although friendly was very haphazard. The 3 oysters were quite small and the wait was an hour. The pickerel and chips although also very long in arriving was considered one of the best fish and chip experiences. Unfortunately, the same tastiness could not be said of the linguine and clams.
We had a fantastic dinner tonight. The owner Nate was incredibly welcoming and suggested great cocktails and wine for our group. Our server Martina was super sweet and attentive. The food was incredible and the vibe was really fun. Would definitely recommend to groups, we had a great time.
If you want to go to this place you must love seafood. The waiters are very friendly and nice environment.
Delicious creative cocktails. Absolutely top notch seafood. Super cool staff. Awesome and fun vibe overall. I come back here every time I visit the county.
Love this place. The seafood tower is amazing Can t wait to go back
The the lobster banh mi sandwich was quite tasteless. Perhaps properly pickling the vegetables would have helped but Im not so sure that would have improved on it. Fish and chips were also sub par but I guess it could have been worse. Service was by far the worse. Waitress forgot we were seated and it took them half an hour to take our order. Thought it was just us but the couple right behind us were worse off apparently. Overall a terrible experience which is odd as the other restaurants in the area had outstanding service and food. Good luck in the future and I wish you all the best.
Good food, average service, way over price.
Killer spot to take a break. Its a solid choice to enjoy cool seafood options. We had the scallop ceviche, which was a banger, the burger (yes they have a killer burger), linguine and clams, and the very large shrimp . Really cool chill vibe too.
First time I take the time to review a place because I witnessed something that is unacceptable for a restaurant of this scale - especially for a 250$ bill. They made us pay without giving us a bill (and I suspect that its because they want to hide the adm. fee). And the tip starts at 18% on the machine. Result: a 175 $ bill ends up costing you 250 $. It was my 3rd time and loved the food every time, but the lack of honesty will make me go to Bloomfield or Wellington next time I m in town.
The best sea food in PEC!!! Had the fish and chips. The portion is big and good price since its fresh fish for lake Ontario. Fries were crispy! The ambiance is cozy especially at night( Atlantic coast vibes). The special blueberry and plum cake was made fresh and home made. One of the best culinary experiences I had in a while!
Wait staff were very friendly and helpful. We shared a pickerel dinner and it came on a big cookie sheet with lots of french fries. Enough for us seniors and it was delicious.
We came here with another couple and had a fantastic time. The owners were there and took great care of us! The restaurant is very cozy and welcoming, and Charlie at the oyster bar was amazing, very personable! Would definitely recommend this little secret to anyone who enjoys great fresh seafood cooked to perfection in an unassuming atmosphere! Cheers!
Expensive for the quantity and quality to be desired. Credit card charges, charges for extras, wine served in a bucket without ice, a real tourist trap.
The food was good but we didn t like the fact they told us no separate bills at the end when time to pay!! We were 6 friends and had all kinds of drinks and food. The manager didnt budge.. no exceptions.
Great seafood
All the food was very salty. I had to wait a long time for the waiter to take my order. The food was also served very slowly. I had to wait several times to refill the food. The food was also very expensive. I had diarrhea after eating.
A nice spot and good food. However insanely over priced!!!! No wonder they don t show the prices on the online menu . $42 for a tuna salad, $55 for a lobster roll, $20 for a ceasar and $235 for a seafood tower?? Described as casual dining serving guests in picnic tables on the grass, but charging prices that are literally above what you d be paying at a high end spot in Toronto. We came here regularly when visiting Sandbanks beach, but for our next visit we will be trying a new place.
I find it hard to deal with paying $100 for 20 oysters and 1 beer. Not only is this place overpriced, the oysters tasted like they ve been on ice for days. They are extremely skimpy on the amount of condiments they give you to accompany them. I asked our server for a bit more and after waiting and waiting I eventually had to go to the bar myself and ask for it. And still pay that amount of money. Will never come here again
Overpriced restaurant! Our bill was nearly $500.00. The food was ok, nothing was worth the price. The service was poor by the server. The ambiance and decor were extremely poor. We were seated on a deck with the bare minimum seating. Nothing comfortable. The 18% automatic charge plus the 2% transaction charge were a rip off, considering we were 7 and two were children 3 and 2 and half. There was no proper parking space considering this restaurant charges so much. Would not recommend this place. There are other better restaurants with better food, ambiance, comfortable seating and service.
Great staff and good food. Definitely made my birthday dinner one to remember!
Beautiful restaurant! Nice welcome! But a very very expensive menu for what it is! A small portion of crab for $48? I had a fish and chip (good but very fatty). Also, I had a drink served in a mini cup, half filled Ugh!!
This is a hard review to give. The food was good, but the prices were so unreasonable that I just cant give it more than three stars. Pros: good food. Cons: ridiculously priced (I mean $115 for steak, $54 for a lobster roll), kinda dingy-looking restaurant (it has definitely seen better days). Ive posted a picture of the menu WITH prices so you can decide for yourself. We considered cancelling our resos when we read the reviews, but they charge $20 per person cancellation fee. Basically, its a tourist trap.
We had a wonderful evening. The food was phenomenal, from the oyster selection, to the wine to the mains!
Delicious food, the steak special was to die for. Creative, fresh and local menu! Worth every dime
Amazing place.. 100% recommended... Amazing food... good service
Last weekend on Sunday my husband and I decided to take a trip to PEC, we went to Sand and Pearl due to it being highly recommended to us, and we truly are not sure why. We arrived, and received our menus, first shock, if you are headed here for a dinner please take into account the cheapest thing on menu is a burger for $25. The drinks are not cheap either, a caesar was $20, and was nothing special. We then decided to share a lobster roll asked for no cilantro, and the roll came, with cilantro. The sandwich was lobster, cilantro, cucumber and carrot no sauce. When our server came over to ask how it was we explained it wasnt what we asked for, and he proceeded to make a joke about if we wanted him to give the chef a stern talking to. For the price of $54 we thought we would at least get a new roll. We left disappointed, hungry and truly not impressed. Writing this for anyone who came across this place for a heads up. Normally we are not the type to write a review but truly were not happy with the service, the food or the atmosphere.
Water smelled like it was scooped from a nearby lake. Waiters were slow. Paltry menu. Overrated. Not worth $1 from my Amex.
OVERPRICED and very slow service. the pasta dish with a few clam definitely not worth the price, and is SUPER SALTY.
Very good and pleasant dinner. Why charge 2% transaction fee? Include it in your price
Great food and service. Lovely setting in behind the restaurant.
We picked this place as my man was getting hangry after the beach. We were totally blown away The freshest fish and chips I ve ever had. We also tried the smoked trout poke bowl and their special of the day fish tacos. Everything was super tasty. Friendly staff, charming atmosphere, their apple pie cheesecake is made fresh every morning and you can taste the difference. We had a slice to share between four of us but then took two slices each to go! Theu also had a special dessert of the day which was a deconstructed Eton mes with grilled Ontario peaches! So refreshing and perfect summer dessert The country smash mocktail was a refresher! Five stars all around!
Still disappointed. The crab sandwiches were really good. But the Vietnamese shrimps are a disaster. The salad also to be desired and the wine served in a glass. The fries were good. For the price I expected much, much better. Very very expensive for so little.
Food was good but alcool is too expensive. We ordered 2 pitchers without asking the price...we found out they were $125 each (and didnt taste good at all).
Good place to eat, I found the menu expensive though
We loved everything that we tried here including the oysters, poke bowl, and lobster rolls.
I had lunch here with family, we were party of 6. First I have to comment on how lovely the staff is, weve had a few servers come to our table during our time there & they were ALL so friendly and joked with us really made the atmosphere fantastic. Secondly the food was just mouth watering!! We ordered the 4 oysters that were on the menu, as well as the Alaskan King Crab, chicken tacos (our server recommended- did not disappoint!) and the lobster bao. I loved the lobster bao if I could have just ordered that x100 I would die happy. Will return again next summer when I visit. Thank you!
Superb! We ate here last Friday evening. The atmosphere is really casual and cool, with great country charm. Our server was so helpful with accommodating our group, which included three kids. We had a lovely table outside, in the back. The front veranda also looks really great. Fish and chips were amazing. 3 PIECES! but each one with a crispy, airy batter that didnt leave us feeling heavy at all. My friends really enjoyed the chowder and the lobster bao. My partner ordered the burger, which was also spectacular. Good selection of County wines. Very fresh oysters, and our server helped us to understand the flavours and origins of each. We really hope to be back...I dont think I can have fish and chips anywhere else now!
Great little restaurant with fresh oysters and ingredients. Super friendly service and fantastic outdoor dinning!
We came from Sandbanks beach and were excited for oysters, seafood and a drink. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed 3-5:00 but we were able to get 18 oysters and a couple drinks. We sat out on the back grass patio, really cute place, nice drink menu. Wished we could have tried scallops or something as well.
Atmosphere: I loved the atmosphere and the world of the restaurant. We feel good there and we want to stay there. Then we really feel like we re on vacation with the large garden and the fire pit (5/5) Service: Great welcome and we were really well served/advised (5/5) Cuisine: The dishes were really high quality and the different flavors went very well together. I was even pleasantly surprised by the dessert which was really excellent (5/5) Price: Even if the products are quality, the prices are a little too expensive compared to the quantities (4/5)
Awesome
Spend a few days in Picton and found this great restaurant by chance. Amazing food, great service.
Wow a real gem. Transports you back to an Ontario lakeside seafood restaurant of yore with some panache.
Wonderful dinner and staff. Oysters were fresh with good condiments; the Caldosa (scallop ceviche) was top notch; good clam chowder with spice (very generous with the clams and other ingredients); the fish and chips had a light, crunchy batter; the blackened cod was perfectly cooked; and the lobster bao was a fun fusion dish - Chinese-style steamed bun, butter poached lobster and Japanese street food toppings (think Takoyaki). The non-alcoholic county smash was brilliant, as was the Aperol Spritz. Will definitely be back again!!
Amazing fish and chips! Great atmosphere and service.
Great place... awesome sea food!
As a visitor, this is an awesome place for food staff are extremely friendly and fast. The food is top tier. I ordered hand seared fish n chips. This is an amazing food around PEC, there is slot of space at the back
So many wineries! So many restaurants and fine shops! Prince Edward County has it all! I ve been trying to visit as many new eateries each visit. I had never been to The Sand and Pear before but heard great things about it. After trying it out I was thoroughly satisfied. The food was excellent in particular the chowder. The halibut was fantastic too! I hope to return again on my next visit.
Incredibly good food in such a charming setting! Cant wait to go back!
Jewel of a place - a must visit when in The County. Food was incredible service was perfect.
Great experience! Strongly suggest the seafood tower..was a fun adventure! The Doritos and Cesar shots are a whimsical touch!
Amazing food, great location and staff was on point.
Amazing food.... seafood tower was incredible and totally worth it. Will be back next season when I return to PEC
