Maybe the food *was* good but by the time the Uber Eats driver got it to me nearly an hour later, it was ice cold. Since I don't believe penalizing the restaurant is fair, I will rate based on how it probably tasted.
The food here is always great every time we come here and the customer service is amazing. I left my bank card and they returned it to me. Very nice and honest staff.
I ordered a meal to take away and I cannot believe how flavourless it was. First time ordering from this location as I am not from town and I can safely say I will not recommend this to anyone unless they're specific fast for Chinese was over salted and lacking in flavour. I will say that they are efficient with their time- but that may be a fault as much as a favour. The chicken chow main is dry noodles with chicken and the sweet and sour pork has an off taste to it. Was not impressed with the overall food.
Authentic Chinese foods are really good!! The auntie (owner) always greeting you with a smile. Super friendly staff also. Best chinese food in town!
UPDATE: Went back to China Taste twice after writing this review to give it another try and was disappointed in the experience. First I ordered vegetable chowmein and aside from a bunch of vegetables, the chowmein noodles were bland and not flavorful as mentioned in the original review below. I also noted that the vegetable chowmein doesn't come in large size, however, that is stated on the menu. I went back one more time to get at least the same portion size I did the first time as it was amazing value, however, after ordering a large chowmein I only got one container? This is not what happened the first time I ordered here in the review below. I am not sure if in the original review I got 2 containers by mistake or if I got skimped this 3rd time ordering. But I think this will be the last time I order from China Taste as the noodles aren't flavorful and the portion size (which was something I raved about in the below review) isn't as big as I thought. _______________________________ Ordered from China taste for the first time and was impressed by the portion size but disappointed in the service. Ordered take out around 5pm on a Wednesday and spent nearly a total of 10 minutes on hold just to place my order. The employee did apologize for the wait and stated that they were really busy, however, if a phone is going to be left on hold for 10 minutes it's better and less annoying to the customer if you just don't pick up until you have time to take the order. That aside, I got the large plain chowmein and 2 spring rolls. The spring rolls were tasty and I would order them again. They were not overly oily and had nice pops of flavor with each bite. The plain chowmein was a MASSIVE portion and well worth the dollar value 10 fold. The flavor was lacking but I think that is my own fault by ordering "plain" chowmein where all I wanted was actually saucy noodles, no chunks of broccoli or something. So I would probably order the vegetable chowmein next time to make a real decision about the flavor of the chowmein. My conclusion about China taste would be amazing value and potential for flavor (based off spring rolls) buy final verdict will be decided upon another visit.
Have been eating here for years, food is always enjoyable, but tonight i ordered through door dash and one of the options on the menu was to seperate my 3 item combo into different packages, as i use 1 3 item combo to feed 2 of my kids i figured this would be easier as 1 of the children isnt a fan of the chop sue sauce on her noodles, The charge was for $3.60 extra, and i understand container cost. Even though i find that specific amount for 3 containers a bit steep i digrese we live in the age of plastic ban and understand i pay for my plastic.... However what i was not expecting was to recieve a portion that was noticably smaller then if i had ordered the meal in a normal 3 item container, there was no notice of sizing of containers or any warning of the amount difference i would recieve in food, i still had one of there old 3 item containers in my drawer so i checked how much food difference there was, and i can fit at least 2 more of the smaller containers worth of food into the normal 3 item package and still have space between the food and the lid of the container.... I highly recomend changing the descrition or removing the option all together. As i said i have been eating here for over a decade i enjoy the food and the service and have never had an experience like this from them before.... But tonights order felt like shrinkflation at its finest.
I'm not done eating but I couldn't wait to leave a review. This place is absolutely amazing. The food was hot , tasty , reasonably priced and a good portion. Worth every penny and more . Insane , I'd order here again a million times over . Some of the best Chinese without question. Made my night 🌙 thank you so much.
We ordered from china taste a few nights ago. And it was awful the food was soggy with no flavour and the prawns were hot AF . No idea why we didn’t order spicy nor did we request spicy and yet it was so spicy just placing one on the tongue it started to burn immediately. It was awful . We ended up ordering somewhere else. As the food wasn’t edible . We spent 115.64 I do believe so it’s not like I was worried about price . Not sure what happened here. But I don’t think I will try again . So update 7 months later nobody has ever responded to this , I was not offered anything in responce not a meal or discount or money back in fact they haven't even acknowledged my complaints 😕 disappointing to say the least

Tried all the Chinese restaurants in PG and this one is the best authentic Chinese food. I tried the dim sum today and the quality was good. The pork dumplings are all authentic Cantonese style. There are also rice rolls.
We order from another restaraunt because they deliver to our area, tonight we picked it up from China Taste, if you folks supply the same quality, quantity and cost, as you should, you are leaps and bound above the rest, best chiness in town in a long time, hats off

Really friendly owner and waitress. Best Chinese food in town. Not pricy at all, I have been in PG for so long and the price is fair compared to other Chinese restaurants. Parking: Huge parking lots in the plaza. Only time hard to get one if parents dropping children off for Kumon.

Another disappointment coming from there,two years ago,the war won ton soup drastically got reduced in size with maybe half the ingredients as well,then they started using black containers,also much smaller in size,much shallower,more savings again for them,placed a takeaway order last week,no more fortune cookies,and a small container of rice!All history,and the prices are ridiculously high.Stopped going there altogether,the customer is always the victim.
I just ordered a Wor wontons and spring rolls. The Wor wonton is excellent, generous portions and great prices. The wonton is amazing fresh and homemade, even the spring rolls were good too! Everything I ordered was delicious. Highly recommend!

Spicy prawns are to die for and the shrimp fooyung is a great meal in itself. Highly recommend this place.

China Taste has consistently delicious meals. Ive never been disappointed. Their customer service when you dine in is amazing. Their prices are reasonable, especially in this economy. The atmosphere is welcoming and calm. I never feel rushed to leave. We are welcome when we enter. I highly recommend it, as its one of the only Chinese restaurants I will go to lately.
In Prince George this is probably the best place for dim sum that Ive tried and Ive tried every place. It has a lot it could do more like a traditional dim sum but given the very soft market for dim sum it does a pretty good job. The decor and layout are certainly not like traditional Chinese restaurants. The staff are friendly and have a great attitude.

The Pork Gyosa was amazing! Steamed buns were a great surprise. Dining in for first time after years of take-out was a great experience. Sushi, Dim Sum and Chinese mix was fun. Well be back for more. My fussy child tried everything. Surprise!
Orderd off skip the dishes, food was kinda bland. Very small portion for the price. I do not recommend the honey garlic pork. And no fortune cookies??
Everything was fresh and hot except the 20$ honey garlic pork..it was old! Barely warm and breaded tasted like old burnt shoe leather. Other than that massive fail the chicken balls and almond chicken was good.. Will order again..just never again the hg pork! Would love a refund! Could not eat it into trash it went.
Terrible, Terrible food, spent $68.+ to line my garbage can. The honey garlic pork absolutely tasteless, accompanying peppers and onions were mush and there was no honey garlic sauce. Chicken fried rice wasnt good at all. The chicken seamed to be boiled, and the rice was cooked a couple of days ago, again favorless. Chicken chow mien noodles were mushy, no flavor and again boiled chicken with dry vegetables. Actually when you add china lily soy sauce to the wonton soup it tasted pretty good. I dont understand why they dont provide fortune cookies anymore. I will not be ordering takeout from this restaurant again.

July 19 2020, Thought it was time for some Chinese food, China Taste didnt disappoint. Did the drive over and order ( no dine in currently ). Food was quickly made, fresh and tasty (3A dinner). Service was as usual prompt and friendly. 10/10 Would dine again!

Just not very good. My first time trying the food here. It was all very bland. Theres only 2 decent Chinese places in town, and youre definitely not one. No fortune cookies was just another strike against you.
Weve always enjoyed the chinese food from this restaurant and always order our take out from here, but our last order 2 days ago was a huge disappointment. Something has changed, the portions were smaller, the food bland, no fortune cookies and the new soya sauce is inedible it tastes like salt water with no flavour at all ! We will be finding a new chinese food restaurant to order our take out from in the future.
Worst Chinese food I ve ever eaten . Should not say eaten cause I m probably gonna throw it in the garbage . Chicken chow mein was plain noodles with a little bit of what looked like dehydrated chicken with water added to it. . The beef fried rice was nothing fried just plain white race with gray Tasteless beef . Just horrible I ve never written a review online for anything I just don t want anyone to be ripped off by this place
No soy sauce and no fortune cookie even. The sweet and sour pork was lightly sauced and seemed like it had been cooked 6 hours before and may as well have been the leftovers from the buffet or something. The chickenchow mein looks like and tastes like mr noodles from a pack and had no chicken in it all or flavor and took up over 70 percent of the meal. The tiny portion of chop suey tastes like the vegetables are unwashed and is really overcooked. This is by far the worst Chinese food I have ever had and for the 25 bucks I paid with delivery and 3 dollar tip I would have to say it was a complete waste of money.

Its always a decent meal. Its not amazing. Your average Chinese meal. I mostly order from them cause theyre on my short to drive home from work. Id recommend it; however, its the run of the mill American Chinese restaurant.

Vegetable chow mein instead of special chow mein tonight. Last time beef chop suey instead of beef and vegetables like I always order. Check your order before you head home

$9.95 surprise on my bill for an assorted sunimono is criminal. I have never paid more than $6.99 for an assorted sunimono and others have Octopus on it as well. This one had four small shrimp and a tiny teaspoon of crab meat. I have been going to China Taste for decades. I am very very bitter after this experience and will not return, especially as I alerted them to my concern and did not even get a sorry, just a thats the charge, deal with it. Well, if I had known the charge I would not have ordered, I ordered from an online menu that stated it was $5.99. Now, even if that menu was a year old, that kind of inflation is just plain outrageous. I AM DONE!
Ordered Ginger Beef and Chicken Chow Mein. The ginger beef was hot, but not a lot of flavour - definitely no ginger taste at all. The Chow Mein was ridiculous - not stir fried - no sauce - just some pasty white flavourless chicken pieces on top of some flavourless gummy boiled noodles. Definitely wont ever buy from this place again. Worst chinese food Ive ever had!!

Got REALLY sick from the War Wonton soup. Haven t been able to leave my bathroom for two days. 5+ years ago, this place was alright. Now, prices have doubled and the quality sucks. Don t order from here, you end up paying a premium for flavourless, unsanitary food

The food is not made fresh to order.The last two times I have ordered for friends and family the quality was noticeably sub par. Specifically the honey garlic pork had a rank smell when delivered. When I called to discuss the matter they flat out denied anything was wrong. Pre pandemic the quality was higher. Never ordering again.

Ordered lemon chicken for the first time last night. All we received was chicken with 4 slices of lemon. Really disappointed so I called this morning to see how they prepare the dish. Apparently they serve with a side of lemon sauce. No lemon sauce included with our order. Since I called this morning, not last night they refuse to issue a credit. Will not be ordering from there again. Poor customer service.
Picked up a 4 selection dinner for one the other night and it was excellent! Also got 10% discount for pickup. I will definitely do it again.

I love this restaurant as they use only good quality ingredients and the food is always fresh and consistent. Actually, this is the only restaurant I will go to for Chinese food. :) The service is always friendly.

Unreasonable to deal with when they have made a mistake on the order. After waiting over an hour for delivery they would like to exchange the 2 dishes that were their error. It it unreasonable to expect the customer to wait another hour to exchange. We would have been happy for them to pickup the dishes we didn t order and give a credit.

Im from Vancouver so have quite high standards even for American Style Chinese food, which is what I ordered. Ive ranked my dishes below but the timeing for making and delivery was 5/5. I got the beef and broccoli (was good but not anything special 4/5), sweet and sour pork (same at 4/5), chicken Chow Mein(not chicken Chow Mein just boiled noodles with shredded chicken on top 2/5), and the lemon chicken (was good with lots of it (5/5).

I thought I rated this previously. Honestly the best spicy prawns anywhere. Seriously anywhere. Try them, cooked with jalapeños and onion coated with a light batter (paper thin batter compared to normal Chinese battered prawns). This being said, I dont order anything else here anymore but my favorite place is near Costco for PG Chinese take out. But I will stop here for the dang prawns every single time I drive by because with Covid and all, I never really know when the next time Ill get them.

This has always been our restaurant of choice for years and years, their spicey prawns were the best in town! But the last few times weve ordered out it was worst than the last. New owners? New cook? I dont know, but its very disappointing. Time to find a new restaurant to make our restaurant of choice I guess :(
China taste is one of the original classic Chi ese restaurants in Prince George. The food is fresh, and tasty. Try thier authentic chinese dishes. Very good food.

The spicy prawns, chicken wings, and spicy tofu are the best!!!! The prawns are tiger prawns and pretty much everything on the menu are big portioned and reasonably priced.

I normally enjoy going here but I went there a little later then my usual only to find the sushi bar closes early. If you run a Chinese and Japanese cuisine resturant I believe you should serve your entire menu from open to close or post on the door the times for the sushi bar. But besides that, great food, great service, reasonable prices, and pretty clean!

Disappointed about having the buffet dropped, but after talking to Mai, understand why. Top it off with a 10 percent discount for picking up take out and you have a Chinese food restaurant that is affordable and cant be beat!

The deep fried wontons are incredible as is most of the dishes, but I would avoid delivery-dim-sum in the future. (They should take Dim Sum off the available delivery-available dishes to avoid poor quality being attributed to them - not their fault - Dim Sum really needs to be served almost instantly once cooked. If you take it out of the steamer to make the delivery, it gets rubbery.)
