Updated 2024.11.15 The Black Clover was a pleasant dining experience, depending on your choices, the prices add up quickly. There are daily specials, ask your server if they haven't already informed you. We ended up ordering a cottage pie and a pork belly sandwich. Ordering the cottage pie took longer for our order to be brought out. The food, service, and atmosphere were all good. There's free WiFi. Credit cards accepted.
House cut fries are store bought. Will take servers advice and will It not come back. It’s a shame that the experience was so unpleasant because we don’t have a lot of restaurants to go to in pg. Server seems to spend more time flirting with coworkers and eating at the bar rather then taking care of her tables.
Our first and last visit. By the reviews l believe they must have 2 different chefs or short order cooks. Five of us service was great the food yuck. All but one of us enjoyed our meal. There at 6 meal at 7 Friday night not busy. Atmosphere very nice. My fish and chips was one piece and 5 dollars more for a second piece. I wasn't aware that l had to bring my own fish. It was way overcooked til dry. I believe it was just reheated not just cooked fresh.. The fries were cold. My husband had a steak the size of a hockey Puck which is the norm in P.G l guess. It was overcooked and dry with a little bit of salad greens on the plate. Hardly a dinner meal. My niece had to wait quite awhile for her jalapeño poppers because the server dropped a couple of them and still served her the 2 left she did not reorder. My sister in law had a chowder with class she said it was OK. I did tell our server to please inform the cook our meals were awful. We did not want to wait another hour to reorder as we were all hungry we ate very little of it had to go to burger King after for a burger. My fish was cooked til almost burnt and it was all batter and 2 bites of actual fish. For 5 bucks for an extra overcooked piece was not worth it for sure. As l stated it was a first and last time given what it cost. Perhaps we are just used to a decent meal for 30 bucks each. What is it with fish and chips l got burnt fish at Nellys pub which is shocking because we have never had a bad meal there we live close so we go often. Perhaps new management. My husband had veal cutets cooked to death. We treat ourselves once a month but my hubby says he is fed up with paying big bucks for terrible food the service was very good not the food. Best regards l hope they get a more professional cook with higher standards. Gorden Ramsey would have lost it if were served the food we had.
I should have taken pictures of the food but it was way to good to not start eating right away! My dad and I shared the porkshires they were amazing! He got the Irish stew and I had the chicken pie both highly recommend! Service was fantastic will be back again
Ordered the Patties Nachos. The menu states that it's hand cut chips with tomatoes, cheese, green onions and bacon, served with a herbed sour cream dip. Usually these are delicious. What we got was waffle cut (frozen kind) chips with VERY little cheese, a few pieces of tomato, some green onions and a bit of bacon with a honey mustard dip. We ate it but it wasn't worth $30. When I told the waitress about it, the first time, she didn't seem interested. When I brought it to her attention, with the menu in front of me she simply said the menu needs to be updated and she would tell the manager, Steve. He was right there, at the bar. We've always ordered the Patties Nachos but never again, unless they change them back to the way they were.
Came to the patio on a Sunday for lunch and had the absolute slowest service I've ever had here. It was a medium group of people, but the staff was taking forever to take our order, bring our food, and the server left at one point for an extended period of time and was nowhere to be found. It took about two hours for our meal from start to finish and someone in our group was in a hurry to leave. The bill was also incorrect when we went to pay and that took even more time to straighten out. I get that some days are hectic or understaffed, but we were the only ones there at one point and it was still taking forever. There was also no apology or even acknowledgement of the slow service. I also would like to see a few more options on the patio as I couldn't eat anything offered. The rest of the group, however, enjoyed the food.
I love my Irish foods. And this place delivered. Got the Porkshire for an appy. And the girlfriend and I got the Irish stew and the Chicken pie. It remained me of my nanas cooking back home in Newfoundland. The Irish Sunday is massive. You’ll need a friend to help out. Our server Khalila did a great job of keeping the food and drinks flowing for the playoff game. The large TV with the playoffs going was awesome.
The Black Clover is the best Irish pub in all of Prince George! Granted, it may be the only Irish pub in Prince George but it is still the best. I had the cottage pie which was fantastic paired with this delightful looking Kilkenny (pictured). The service was excellent and we got a table for 6 without a problem.

This place sucks, the bartenders are rude. They served me an old beer. The food was worse than dog water. They tried kicking me out before midnight when I was the only person in there. They can kick rocks never go here. Also I m pretty sure they spit in my food.
Great value, fun bar with pool, darts and live music. And the Caesar salad and Dirty Rachael sandwich is awesome.

Overpriced for the cider. I asked what European they had and the chick behind the bar didnt even pipe up to say that the taps the other side was European. Irish is Europe. So is the strongbow! Disappointing experience, tip on the machine is ridiculous. How about you let me decide not show 3 amounts starting at 15% when I buy 1 drink. Its not tip worthy! Shall not be revisiting. Lose the tip on the machine!

My wife and just came back from the Black Clover and we did not have a good experience having a meal there.We went there around 6.00 pm and were the only customers there which we thought was kinda odd.Long story short we could not eat the food they served us but they still took our money.We were not impressed by the atmosphere or the food.l grew up in Ireland and this place was Irish in name only.Dont waste your money .You,ll be disappoited
Was not impressed with the Irish Stew it was nothing like its supposed be , also those so called Yorkshire puddings . we went to get real traditional Irish food , but was so disappointed . Im sure if had chosen Canadian food it would of been good. My suggestion, get a real Irish chef.
Great place to have lunch
I really did not like the music selection. It was very loud and did not fit the vibe of the bar. However, they had good food and service though. I didnt get a chance to check out the games, they had some fun ones there!

I love this bar, great service and good music
Bad service. Waited 15 minutes for the bill when the servers looked at us and didn t come over. Beef dip was dry, burger was dry. Waaayyy too much rosemary in their gravy. Will not be coming back. I wouldn t even feed it to my dog. At least the beer was cold.
Im was in town for the weekend and we decided to watch the canucks game here. I had just flown into town and was starving so I ordered the beef dip and fries. I don t think I have ever had a beef dip like this. It was amazingly delicious and wasn t a normal looking beef dip but looked more like a beef roll. The aus jus was delicious as well and complimented the sandwich perfectly. This was one of the best beef dips I have ever had and highly recommended it

Entitled Waitress - I was there in February on a company outing. There were 20-25 staff member at the pub and we were there for a few hours. During this time, we ordered a number of rounds of shots for our group and I selected the 18% tip option on the debit machine at least 3 times before going to the other side of the bar to order a round. Seeing as I was tipping 13-14 dollars each round, I figured that was getting to be a bit much, so on a round of 8 shots, I tipped $2. The waitress behind the bar took great offence to this as she did not remember or even care when I told her that I had been tipping handsomely all evening. She was very aggressive and incredibly rude during our short conversation and I was asked to leave by a bouncer a few minutes later. I was not given an explanation and our entire party left shortly after. I have no problem tipping when someone brings drinks to the table, but for 30 seconds of work to pour 8 shots, I feel $2 is even a bit much for unskilled labor. I won t be back to this establishment and neither will a number of my colleagues.
Very delicious fish and chips, kind staff , comfortable atmosphere
Literally only posting because of the guy who called bartending unskilled labour. The clover bartenders are incredibly skilled and it only seems easy because they make it seem easy. I m a regular here, and I have never been disrespected. If you can t tip then don t go to the bar and expect stellar service. The clover is my favourite spot in town.
The menu looks promising but the recommended signature dish- traditional Irish stew- was so salty it was difficult to finish, yet somehow still had no flavour. The Guinness Sourdough bun it came with was dry. Lacklustre service made the Black Clover an overall disappointing experience. There are a lot of other options nearby so unlikely to be back.

Good food, nice atmosphere, great service. Music is just loud enough that you dont hear more than a murmur from other patrons, but still chill enough to have a conversation with your company. Fresh food, local offerings, interesting combos and Delicious. Steak and fries salad is surprising and yummo. Prompt, polite service that is not too pushy or saccarine. Ample bar seating for solo guests... even the tall stools are comfortable. Very good overall experience dining out in PG. Recommend

drinks were weak not getting amount you pay for, pop was flat waitresses were slow and kept forgetting our drinks this place was so awesome when it first open sadly gone so far downhill used to love the turbo diesel but this last time was very apparent they changed to cheaper lower qaulity ingredients

Boring bar. The food needs a major overhaul. So does the interior. The staff are hit and miss depending on who you have and if theyre hung over that day or not. Horror stories of management. This place could use a visit to The St James Well in Port Moody. Rylie can show them how its done.
One of the best places Ive ate at in prince george. The Caesars were incredible, the house burger is phenomenal and my co worker said the steak was great. Well done Black Clover

First impressions when we arrive Saturday evening was it was a very lively pub atmosphere with a great character look, woodsy exposed brick, Irish memorabilia. The bartender Mike was very outgoing and chatty and our server Olivia very friendly and efficient, which was needed because it was busy. Hector had a Captains Morgan s Spiced Eun with sprite (his go to drink) And I had water, my go to drink. Hector ordered a steak, sandwich and fries, we shared their shamrock salad, and I had the The Irish stew and ordered a single piece of their fish and chips as a side order. This is Hector s kind of food, so I ll defer to his comments; the steak sandwich was the best steak he s had in Prince George since we got here. The fries with the steak were house cut and very tasty as was the gravy. The stew had great flavour with big chunks of potatoes and lamb and the sourdough buns were perfect to go with it they also bake them on the premises. Hector liked the Guinness beer batter on the fish, said it was nice and light. The salad was nice and fresh and they had a nice house ranch vinaigrette that was nice and zingy, very satisfactory meal Hector and I split the desert, their Irish Sundae Which was one of the best desserts we ve had in Prince George, Right up there with the Canadian Brewhouse s Honey Bumblebee cake. It had baileys ice cream, Irish whiskey chocolate brownies, whipped cream and berries. In my opinion the fruit Was a nice visual garnish but didn t suit The other flavors, but that didn t stop Hector from enjoying the berries. At 9 PM a band came on, Adam Co they were great, great vicals, great song choice, great musicianship. Overall, just a great local pub with great food and a really wonderful theme & ambiance, if you could call. something so rollicking and cheerful ambiance. Parking: Street parking with other popular spots on the same street So prepare to spend time looking for a parking spot at busy times.

Its everything you want a pub to be. They have some fun events and a friendly staff, best cocktails in town, music at least 3 nights a week big screen and a variety of seating arangements so whether you want to be part of the action or find a quiet spot Its the place for you. When the patio opens up Ill be up there all the time. Also has a big ballroom for private functions so if you want a catered event. Its a great spot.

Update 2023: I no longer love the wings. Pre COVID, they were amazing. Perfectly golden, juicy, perfectly seasoned. During COVID (2021), we got a bunch and they were over cooked, not just a little, like but burnt. Like these delicate little chicken wings probably sat in 400 degree oil for 15 minutes. I thought they were glazed in soy sauce. Okay so I threw them out, figured that was a one-off accident thing. Went back recently and still not good, but 80% were edible this time. But man... Dry, tough, and stringy. Pretty disappointing now. Different supplier? Different cooking times/temps? I dunno but I miss the old wings... HOWEVER I did have a chicken pot pie that came with a delicious pastry clover ontop and that was probably the most delicious thing Ive had all year. Service is still super great and nice. :) - - - Original review: I love the wings. Server was super great and nice. Not quite fond of the Pot Roast personally; it just wasnt quite what I expected, but I didnt really know what to expect really. It tasted good, but it wasnt as tender as I thought it should/could have been. So, yeah, back to those wings. Those glorious deliciously cooked, crispy and flavourful salt and pepper wings. I would go back for those wings every day. Oh, man. There are two missing in the picture because I had to stop and take a picture after we bit into them.

I was blown away by the food, the service and the atmosphere!!! Throw in the rooftop lounge and the live music on weekends and I would have given The Black Clover 6 stars if I could. This is definitely my go to place when Im coming through Prince George.
Aye came in for lunch with my brother today from a much needed day off from work to be greated with more than quick service as a pg local I can tell you this is the spot to come for lunch dinner or even much needed beverage dont waist your time going to a up town spot

Upstairs we did dance, with joy in our hearts, A venue so splendid, it played its part. Close to our hotel, a convenience divine, No long journeys home, we sipped sparkling wine. The music, the laughter, the atmosphere so bright, Black Clover, youve made our hearts feel so light. Five stars we bestow, on this magical night, A memory to cherish, neath the starry light!
Just a good bar with good staff.
The Black Clover has great food at good prices in a nice atmosphere. The menu contains a mix of Irish, British, and North American fare, all in good portions and done right. It gets busy, but never too loud even with large groups and live music, so its a great place to go with friends or alone. Do take advantage of the pool table, dart boards, and free popcorn if you bring friends to make your experience complete.

The food was good. Unfortunately a person with us found a fly in their drink. Mixed in with the fruit. Speaks of lack of cleanliness at the bar.
I was surprised to see the Black Clover has a 4-star rating and suspect we must ve hit an off day. My partner and I went for lunch and were one of three tables. The service wasn t friendly but wasn t necessarily bad, the food wasn t good though. I had the chicken pot pie and it was okay at best. It had a really cute puff pastry clover on top which was a nice touch but it was very bland and it was almost all large chunks of chicken with next to nothing for veggies. Normally I wouldn t be complaining about getting a good amount of chicken in a chicken pot pie but as I said it was virtually tasteless aa well as being tough to chew. My boyfriend s wings on the other hand would ve been tasty but they were super rubbery. He had two before calling it quits and when I tried one it was almost like it didn t want to be eaten. If my food gives me that much resistance in one bite I just let it win so the wings remained unfinished. Definitely not ideal and I won t be going back for lunch again but considering others have had better experiences we might have to try dinner another night.

Very nice rooftop patio. Unfortunately, the serving staff needs a lot more training...I have some sympathy for restaurants trying to find staff, but if you cannot handle a slow afternoon crowd...dont open the rooftop...! I am not a restaurateur, but I would suggest that each serving person is assigned a group of tables to handle, then make the rounds ...find out if they want food, drinks etc..fairly basic. I hope they can get a handle on the basics because it was a sweet spot, and the staff that did connect with us were friendly, just not able to coordinate an order.

The entertainment was really good and I liked the atmosphere. The one thing I didnt like, and that could just be reasoned with the NHL game that was going on and the place being busy, is that we tried to order some food for an hour and when the server finally came, the kitchen already closed. Still would recommend this place.

They will literally fill it up and keep offering more and then when you cut yourself off and leave they will make back handed comments on how intoxicated you were. My brother in Christ except the 30% tip! Or it wont be coming back

Great atmosphere
We rented the Caribou Room above the Black Clover for a wedding reception. The whole experience was excellent. The Banquet Manager, Chelsea was approachable, responsive, accommodating and a delight to work with. Food was outstanding, on time and more than enough. Bartenders were speedy and kept up to the crowd. Definitely recommend!
Although the beef bone I ordered was tough and stone cold, and the service was slow and horrible I would go again as it was a busy night. I have had great food here in the past.
Been in twice in the last couple of months. Both times coincidentally on a Tuesday, beef dip special. Something has changed in the kitchen for sure. First time was a novelty beef dip cooked like a calzone, tender and hot hot hot. The second visit I didnt burn myself but ate the salad first then tried to eat the sandwich. It appeared no attempt had been made to trim the meat so teeth alone could not cut the strands so the meat pulled out of the pastry. Flavor was fine just more attention in preparation is needed.Finger food turned into a knife and fork experience. Staff were awesome both times, like I said just shortcuts in the kitchen. Lots of competition in the surrounding blocks so not sure if it just the difference between high and low season or just another sign that businesses are cutting back even more to weather this downturn.

Worst service I have ever had. Atrocious service, music was too loud at times but made for a fun atmosphere. Food and drinks were really great, if you were able to get service.

We went in for a beer on a Friday night. The place was hopping but not so crazy we couldnt find a seat. They offered some beers from breweries in the area. Waitstaff was good. Service was good.

We were in Prince George for couple of nights. We ended up at the Black Clover the 1st night. The ambiance is great, service is friendly and food good for a pub. The wings were very nice. On Thursday and Friday they have a « singer » we really took advantage of it and danced all night. The Black Clover was a lot of fun.
Takeout isnt the best quality but dining in is great. The atmosphere and the service is wonderful and fantastic food.
Good for a pint, good for a great time, good for nice atmosphere. Friendly and local, socialize with just about anyone there. And the darts and pool table at the back, great for challenging other patrons.
Kids welcome until 8pm.
Great food and service even though it was busy. My only suggestion is they turn the music down when they have a musician playing.
This pub has potential that is true. My experience here was don t expect to talk to anyone, in fact you re better off coming alone. The music (not live) was so loud I could not even hear my girlfriend who was sat next to me. Once the live music started it was somehow even worse. Perhaps I m just old, perhaps the acoustics suck, perhaps the music manager is clinging on to the idea this is a club not a pub. I will say the food and service were satisfactory but not great. Turn it down.
The amazing thing about writing a review is that you don t need to be able to hear or speak in real life. Okay, okay i ll add some context. My throat is sore from having to yell in order to be heard from less than half a foot away and the decibel level from the speakers was what i would normally pop in ear plugs for at a concert. Alas, I was not at a concert. I was attending a birthday party dinner and drinks at 7pm on a friday where there was no dance floor. In my opinion you need to be able to do something else than sit and talk to justify the volume of the venue. I feel terribly for the servers if that is the situation every night they work because if you think it won t affect a person for one night it certainly adds up over time. Service was fine, food presentation was good I shall see myself out.
It took a lot time for them to prepare the food even though there were not much people in it, the bacon was too dry and chewy and the lettuce was awful, for a 18 dollar burger, I would expect more. But for 6.5 dollar on Thursday, well, that s a fair price. I really should check those review before going to this pub. Well live and learn.
Great place to wind down and have s cold one after work. The staff is friendy and the atmosphère is great and they got pool tables. There food is excellent hands down.

Excellent wings. Best Guinness in P.G. Good service. They dont over serve people like the casino. Much better music this time. Singing dancing clapping good times. Didnt think It was possible, but 6 Guinness in one afternoon and evening Is possible. Why isnt 10 star available? New record .
Food is great, service is great. Great place to hangout with friends on the weekends.
Really fun pub. My colleague and I spent our evenings there while visiting PG. The food was good and the service was awesome. Fully recommend if you are in PG.
