It was a nice date night out, the sweet potato fries are bomb!

Used to be a decent place . Food is mediocre , service is hit and miss. Worst downfall of that place is the large boisterous middle aged loud mouth blonde waitress who thinks she owns the place. Get rid of her and you might be able to hire better staff. Never again!

We booked the upstairs for a retirement party. Service was excellent and our waitress was very efficient and attentive. Food was hot and delicious. Came out in a timely manner. Absolutely love the BX.

I got the bx burger with a salad and in the salad i was pick out these oval black things and my buddy told me that it was rat poop and i was instantly wanting the bill and some one to tell and when the waitress said yep one second she came back with the bill and didnt let me explain what i found .... Must have a rat problem

Was a Saturday night but not so many people probably because it was the first warm sunny week end Service was really bad we keep waiting all diner for the waitress. We was a group of 5 the first plate she bring was calmars as appetitive for one of the guess but she didn t bring any fork or even napkins we tried to drag her attention for a good 20 minutes without success to finally be able to run after her before she disappeared again to ask her a fork and few napkins The calmar was really tiny (a nickel size) they was good taste but the texture was not crunchy as fried calmars are supposed to be. I took the Louisiana prawn and sausage fettuccine It came littérale in a soup of sauce at least double sauce then it was necessary for the size of the pasta. Even if the sauce taste was good litteraly ruins the dish and was hiding the fact that it was not a prawn dish After few minutes eating I was surprised I couldn t find any prawns in it so I started to dig to try to find them In fact after a lot of digging all I find was 3 really little shrimp no prawn at all and only 3 tiny littles shrimps May I suggest they call that dish Fettuccine with sausages instead of Louisiana prawn fettuccine because is not what we get at all. I had to wait another 20 minutes to receive the glass of wine I ordered with my dish in fact my glass of wine arrived when I was almost done eating. But then surprisly she never ask if I wanted a desert or coffee or anything else and she arrived with the bill when I had just received the glass of wine who I had ordered to drink with my meal. Also for my pasta plate I asked for Parmesan and she bring litteraly a bottle of Kraft false Parmesan directly from the kitchen I asked for real Parmesan and she told me they will charged me for it and I had to wait again to receive it. So I m really not impressed at all for the service and for the cuisine neither

We had a very good waitress. however the music was so loud and if you looked around the restaurant the demographic and the music did not match it was dance music and it was a pub so it should have probably been something less punchy. Pre-made burger patties were lackluster too much sauce on the burger too much salt in the gravy and not enough flavor in the gravy. My Caesar salad had so much garlic it burned my lips. The fries are pretty good though.

BX is a long time almost , if not heritage pub, amazing rustic interior with great food and drink. Worth a stop in for a snack or dinner. Hurry to get a table by the fire!

Its just a great neighborhood pub.

the food was delicious. and the service was great. the only very minor complaint I had was we had to go up a couple stairs. luckily my son was able to use his canes that day and not his wheelchair. Wheelchair accessibility: they had a ramp going into the building. but they sat us in an area that had a couple steps to get to.

The servers are very attentive and timely. The half nachos are impressive and great value. Really good traditional neighbourhood pub! Beer and wine store has great selection in a small, clean, efficient space, with friendly staff.

Place was super packed, but the waitress were trying their hardest to make sure everyone got service. I have heard great things about the food, but this was not the case for us. Basically felt like we were eating cafeteria food. My girlfriend said she has never had a meal from here that bad. Maybe an off night? The BXs atmosphere is great classic old pub feel. Had a work group together upstairs and our host Kaylee was very kind and did an awesome job keeping track of such a big group of us scattered around. Food tasted great too.

Just stopped for drinks today but the food is always good and plentiful in a great pub atmosphere.

Funniest server ever

Good atmosphere, Id recommend the fish and chips! Generous portion and tasted great, ask for extra tartar sauce.

Purchased some Bailies at the liquor store for a dinner but never ended up opening it. Tried to see if i can take it back the next day and was told to come back tomorrow. After about 3 days of coming back tomorrow, i finally got to speak with, apparently the only person that would be able to process a return. I was then told that they dont do returns and that you cant return alcohol in general to liquor stores. Well, as a fact, yes you can. BC liquor stores have a 60 day policy for re-saleable goods-which, btw, ill be taking my business to in the future. The receipt was in hand. It wouldnt have taken much to process and i wouldve left happy.

The pub is good. Deserves more but the liquor store deserves less. People need to remember why they have a business and how and where the money comes from. The management must be bad as they cannot hang on to staff. My guess is the bad attitude to people from the manager If she treats her staff the way I was treated on more than one occasion, no wonder. I will go out of my way to give my business to someone else who appreciates the support. Returns are part of the service. Silly rules on it. Maybe find a system that will foster more care for all?

This pub used to be the watering hole for us forestry field crews. Decent bar food at reasonable prices and good service.

Good atmosphere, decent service. I had a mountain of nachos which were good. It took a hot minute to get my Guinness, not sure why. But overall I would recommend this place to someone looking for casual drinks and food.

Waitress was snoty from the moment we walked in, service was slow, waitress does not know how to interact with the patrons shes loud and mouthy!

Fast service and tasty food.

It was amazing as always. The jalapeno philly cheese steak sandwich is my new favourite thing there. It came with au jus and a big helping of their awesome fries.

Great food, good service. I always enjoy my meal when I go to the BX. HOWEVER, the parking lot is the WORST in the city, and if you live here, you know that s saying something. This lot is full of deep holes that go untouched through all 4 seasons. I would gladly give 5 stars if this parking lot was completely and properly fixed.

Food was good, the service was good, the parking lot is in dire need of repairs and its downright dangerous for anybody that doesnt own a lifted vehicle, or has mobility issues and needs to navigate the craters on the way to door, where everyone stands blocking the path while smoking at the door.

I didnt catch what our waitress name was. Other the she has been serving for 30 years. She was very friendly and attentive. Our food was awesome. Great experience.

Food is ok. Atmosphere is always loud, rowdy, and obnoxious. The Pub doesnt care to remove people obviously a nuisance. Always screaming and fights out front. Constantly overserving people and letting them drive home. Overall not a pleasant atmosphere. The food is ok, but the company makes it not worth it, even when its as easy as walking down the street.

[Review updated June 2022] Food selection is varied for pub, prices are about what you would expect. Staff are friendly, regular crowd can get a bit rowdy or loud but overall atmosphere is good. Food quality is a bit lacking, and also somewhat inconsistent as certain menu items (such as steak sandwich) can vary in quality as well as preparation from visit to visit.

Weekends and holidays are not great. Sandwich was cold. Quesadilla has too many jalapeños and waaayyy too spicy even without them couldnt eat it. Told we could sit at two person table only but then the couple behind us were able to sit where they wanted. Dont get it. Week days much better service

Went with a group of people, about 15. The staff kept disappearing and forgetting orders, even forgot when people wanted their bill so they could leave.

Great burger and fries. I like their fries. Friendly professional staff.

The menu has gotten quite a bit smaller. Food was still good though.

Slow service

We always go to the BX pub for lunch when we are in town. Their homemade beef barley soup is one of our favorites! However, this time, the service was very slow and the it was nothing extreme, just soup & salad. The salad dressing was mixed up and we were given creamed horseradish instead of a vinegrette. The server didnt believe us and tried to say it was the vinegrette! The kitchen gave us the wrong thing and took so long they probably forgot our order. It was not a busy time so maybe just a one off, at least we hope so. Otherwise, Id give 4 stars.

The food there is probably 2nd or 3rd best in Terms of the pubs in town. Always enjoy the quiet Sunday afternoons there. The only down fall is its tight for seating and service is hit and miss.

Food is always good. The decor is dated but cozy. Its really everything you want in a neighborhood pub.

I had heard a lot about this restaurant and seen a lot of videos and on their website so decided to visit the place. I must say they did not disappoint, from the begging to the end the experience was flawless and fantastic. Just seeing the bartender work was amazing The ambience was old school and the decor was really nice . The prices are decent and the servers are great in suggesting food items . The food was well presented, was hot and delicious. The service was great and the food was unique and impressive. Would go here again for a great experience that they definitely deliver. Overall loved the place , kudos to the entire team.
