Discover Riverhouse in Prince George: Great food, amazing wines, and beautiful riverfront views!
SO disappointed with this menu. This is fine for a "pub menu", but the Winery was always a place to go for "dinner" on "special occasions" or when we wanted to show off our town to visitors. I guess I will have to find a new "special place". If I want "pub food", I'll head to the BX!
Great restaurant for a special lunch. We had a bunch of appies and soups, everything was delicious. The wine was good too, but be aware they make fruit wine only (although there are some traditional wines on the beverage menu). Plating and presentation was nice as well. Patio was great, even though it was an overcast day. Nice view of the river.
Best place as destination in BC’s Northern interior, remarkable wines, spectacular contemporary setting on the river, friendly service and good food. Overall 1st class
Thanks Jaxon and Hannah for nice service. Looking forward to visit again😊
Unfortunately the service and quality of food have continued to go downhill. My husband started the meal with a tray of drinks spilled on him. We ordered the truffle fries for the table and my FIL ordered a soup to start and they didn't arrive until after we were served mains. The mains took 45 minutes to be served. The fries were dried/old. The buns for the burgers were stale. We asked for the bill for the table and only got brought one half of the table and our wine club membership was not applied despite reminding them twice of it. It was a celebration of my FIL 70th birthday who was in out of town. It was such an embarrassing experience and we were mortified we had brought him there. Furthermore, it was not worth the $120 we paid for poor food and poor service. I gave two starts for the ambience. We used to come her on a fairly regular basis living just down the road and unfortunately this is the third time in a row with disappointing service. But also now the food has taken a turn for the worst. Edit: Upped another star from response from management who personally called to apologize. Was very impressed with the professionalism and willingness to hear feedback.
Beautiful spot beside the river with a delicious fruit wine selection. The food is alright, but the lovely location and the wine are enough reasons to give this place a visit.
The Bistro at the Northern Lights winery has good food and great service. I had the Cobb salad and a charcuterie board that I shared with friends. The pickles were excellent. I don't know what they put in them, but they taste great. I also had a glass of the Ursa wine, which is an apple wine. The atmosphere was also good, and I would recommend this place for date night.
It's really good here. Recommend for wine tasting and eating. We ordered flat bread and the sauerkraut was delicious. The mushroom soup is also great.
The place was great the young man who did the wine tasting was uninterested in his job, knowledge was lacking and did a poor job. On the part of our food our waitress was awesome she did make us feel welcome and service was fantastic. The atmosphere could use some nice background music to a wine tasting experience. Great food and atmosphere
Great place, great food and awesome service.
Booked a table at the Bistro to celebrate my wedding anniversary. The server was pleasant and courteous. The food was fantastic, and we loved the cosy atmosphere. We will be back again soon!
The Bistro at Northern Lights Winery is a beautiful restaurant at an even more beautiful location. I recommend checking it out just for the experience. The bistro is a bit higher priced which is normal for winery restaurants but unfortunately the food doesnt quite reflect the price. For example, the naan pizzas are many days old, store bought, naan bread with some ingredients warmed up on top. Something anyone could make at home for just a couple bucks. In contrast, other wineries make the crust on site and cook it in an outdoor, wood fired pizza oven. My wife observed that its like they looked at whats on other wineries menus and then tried to duplicate that using a toaster oven and a microwave. I believe they just need to think about what they can do well under the bistro setting and stick to that. (On a side note, Ive found that whenever I see the term bistro that translates to we havent invested in a kitchen or all the staff it takes to run one, but we still want to charge you like we had.) Our server was very attentive and pleasant while she was around. Unfortunately she disappeared from the restaurant at one point and after 20 minutes my wife had to go inside to find someone else to continue serving us. Then when it was time for the bill she returned like nothing had happened. I get that people need breaks but we felt abandoned. All that said, with some tweaks this place has the potential to be a favorite. I hope they continue improving. As a final tip, when ordering stick with the things bistros can do well like charcuterie boards and light items.
A nice late lunch at Northern Lights Estate Winery in Prince George.
Worst experience, no customer service, employees were not welcoming and even we asked for dine in, no response came from them. We stood for around 10 mins and it was the worst experience ever ..
First time here. Had lunch a yummy sandwich and a glass of wine
Spring in the sunshine! Nice atmosphere, great service
Great atmosphere and service. Food was delish
We ate a lovely dinner then watched a great play. - A Mid Summer Knights Dream
Great staff and food
I used to love eating at the bistro but lately it s been way more hit and miss. Menu is half the size it used to be, bruschetta was the worst I ve ever had. It was seriously bad, from cold whole cherry tomatoes smothered in oil and what tasted like only dried oregano to the rock hard crostini s that could cut the roof of your mouth easily. Our server, Emma, was nice but clearly untrained, no specials were announced (maybe there is none?), she didn t ask us any questions we had to tell her we wanted to order for every course. When she dropped off our drinks she walked away without saying anything. Felt more like I was ordering at a drive thru. No pepper on tables or offered with pasta or bowls. Going with 3 stars because the food has been amazing in the past, but the quality and experience is slipping. Overlooking the light display was the best part of the experience.
Took my fiance to this place for her birthday. I ordered a flat bread with a side order of prawns...they put my prawns on my flat bread (tails still on ..and cooked it ...I am very dissatisfied. They also put us upstairs where there was a table of about ten women who were so noisy my fiance and I could not even talk. They had another dining area that had one couple in there eating.. they should have asked us if we wanted to move to a quieter place. The food sucked the service sucked and the menu sucked and the prices ate crazy expensive. Worst dining out experience we have had I Prince George. I would not recommend this place. We will never be going back there
Beautiful atmosphere right along the river. Wine flights were great, something for everyone. Do yourself a favour and order the cheesecake! Never disappoints.
