8 Rue du Cul-de-Sac, Québec, QC G1K 8R1, Canada
Charcuterie, panini, beer & wine served in a rustic setting with exposed-stone walls & live music.
Such a quaint little place. We shared a fondue which had a nice balance of cheeses. We also ordered a lobster roll...we're from Maine and used to large chucks of fresh meat, this one had mayo, chopped celery and the meat was chopped fine, really not my cup of tea, but you may like it. The service was nice and welcoming. I would definitely go back.
The food was delicious. I ordered the La Papale with the recommended cheeses. My partner ordered the lobster roll. We each had a Sidecar drink. I think my dish was the favorite. Great attention to detail, with the chef taking pride in his work. We polished it all off with minimal effort. The lobster roll was flavorful, with chunky lobster bites, and done in what they called a traditional Quebec style. It was a cozy space with plentiful outdoor seating as well. We dined inside due to weather, and were treated to watching the chef prepare our food just behind the counter. It was a fun show, and really helped demonstrate his love for the craft. Needs improvement: the Sidecar left a lot to be desired. Too sweet and unbalanced for what I expect in a Sidecar. I think next time I'd pass on a cocktail, in favor of wine or beer. Definitely a place worth checking out.
Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing. We were sat quickly, but waited over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was not hot and overall bland and unremarkable. We are not ones to send back food, but we did. We left and went to Shakers and it was excellent! We only had a couple of hours in the city and as a result of this experience, we did not get to see much. Another couple also left. Not sure if this is the norm, or only this particular evening but we were so disappointed :(
Great food, beer and service. Grab a seat outside under the iconic umbrellas.
Under the umbrella alley. It has a great location, a busy area, limited sitting. Very good service. We ordered steak to try it. It was ok and the portion is good.
We came here for a quick snack upon arrival at our hotel. The soup of the day was 100% worth it, we had mushroom soup, cheese fondue and a bottle of the cab-merlot. All was phenomenal, Soni was such a great server too! Very kind, every efficient, and he answered so many questions! 10/10 would come back and recommend!
The best thing about this bistro is it’s location beneath the umbrellas. Definitely want to sit outside. The food was good. My suggestion is if you order the cheese platter, get the two choices of cheese. You won’t regret it.
My tour guide suggested this place when I asked for a good place to have a drink. So happy I followed her advice. The grapefruit Radner was delicious. I also enjoyed the ash cheese plate and came back a second day to enjoy the 🦞 roll. Great food, atmosphere, and staff!! Highly recommend!!
Came during the winter which was so cozy and Such a cool vibe! The music was also incredible. We just came here for drinks which were amazing. The food looked incredible and smelt even better. Will recommend this place to anyone visiting in the future.
Excellent
The atmosphere is very nice with exposed brick walls, the service was very good and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend the cheese fondue served with a fresh baguette sliced into pieces perfect for dipping.
Yummy drinks
Always a pleasure to share a cheese fondue and a charcuterie platter. The service is excellent and the atmosphere warm.
I had one of the most disappointing lobster rolls ever, but the fries were okay.
Extremely delicious patatela and cheese plate. Good wine. And the liver pâté! A poem!
Very good restaurant Friendly staff
Small bistro with a rock atmosphere. The chef prepares meals behind the bar. We had the fish and chips and the chowder. It s very good!
One of the most legendary places in Quebec. Human happiness from the moment you arrive. Parking: Everything is perfect.
Unfortunately, apart from the taste of the excellent cheese fondue from Ile aux Grue which I regularly buy at IGA for $22.95, I just want to point out that the accompaniments with this one present in your photo were far from what we had. plus 2 people for a reheated sausage. Nothing else? 4 slices of baguette bread. Well I said the one I prepare when I buy it at least we dont have more... Ok the taste was correct. But I would never have thought of going to a restaurant to find a product sold at the grocery store and not original... very disappointed. A nice trap for tourists
The quality of the meal is good but $38 for a very small fondue is unheard of.
I cant rate the food because I only have a mystique cider, which was very good for an evening lite refreshment. I heard they have lobster roll on the menu, so I will be going back to try that dish.
Sadly, our table of 5 was placed in a back room which seemed ok at first and then we realized we were right next to the restrooms. We were the only table back there and it seemed like the staff simply forgot about us all night long. We had about 4 different servers that came in and out very infrequently and the food was simply not up to par.
The food is not the best. Great music and service.
Stay away! Brought the wrong beer, when asked they didn t apologize, offer to make it right, and charged for it anyways. Charged more than they said for the happy hour beers, when asked they tried to lie and say it was tax but I pointed out it was the line item before taxes were applied. They ignored me and didn t fix it. Fish and chips only came with 1 small fish stick ($26) and charged $10 for 2 small kids sodas. Server didn t come check on the food/service. I had to go up and ask for additional item. When I gave a poor tip (5%), the server made a big scene and brought her manager over to make a bigger scene. Tried to publicly shame me and demand a higher tip. Horrible.
Me and my family went here for lunch and while the food was good, the experience was ruined by a servers extremely rude and absurd behaviour. After leaving a standard 15% tip with cash, the server confronted us, clearly unhappy with the amount. Tipping should be at the customers discretion, and being pressured for more money is unacceptable and straight up wrong. We wont ever be returning.
Had a very nice meal with my family. Left a 15% tip before tax. Meal came to $170. Upon leaving server and manager attacked my wife demanding more money for tip. We explained we left 15% before tax and they told us its minimum 15 % after tax. Hard to believe they would do this over $3-4. Extremely bad experience for my whole family. I recommend never going there and saving yourself the grief.
Excellent service I recommend the charcuterie board as well as the seafood pasta The atmosphere is very pleasant and the person is attentive and dedicated to the task.
Beautiful little place in the heart of lower town Quebec. I recommend for a little afternoon between lovers!
Its definitely my to go spot when Im in Québec city. Perfect spot. Theres a parking $$ right across the street. The Staff is friendly and professional. At night they usually have local artists performing. Its a great place to have lunch, dinner or just to grab a beer or a cocktail . Enjoy Vegetarian options: The Pesto linguini with bruscheta is simply amazing, tasty . Kid-friendliness: Its a touristic spot well known. They have a charming terrace perfect for family. Wheelchair accessibility: I know the staff will make it possible. Cause theyre so kind and professional.
Very poor service. Took an hour for food. The poutine came cold, the pesto pasta was a joke and inedible, dry with no sauce (my wife has never sent food back but she did this time). They tried to charge us for the poutine and told us we are in Old Quebec so we should expect service like this. The smoked meat sandwiches came 8 minutes after the other two dishes and they were small, with as much mustard as meat. They do not know what they are doing here. Do not eat here.
A must-have for us since 2009
Very warm welcome, the chef cooks in front of you with passion. Quality local dishes. A very nice surprise.
Great vibes and live music
Good service, good drinks, short waiting time. It also has nice view on the umbrella street when you sit in the garden.
Friendly service, very pleasant and beautiful place, nice little terrace, unfortunately very disappointed with the cheese platter which contained 2 small pieces of brie (in the photo already eaten a small piece).
I had a lobster sandwich and chowder. The quantity is very small compared to the price
The best lobster rool that I have eaten, in the others that I have eaten, there was more salad than pieces of lobster but at Bistro Pape Georges, they do not hesitate to put it, the presentation of the dishes us mouth watering and everything is tasty, they serve a sangria that is as beautiful to the eye as it is to the taste and the waiter is super friendly, fast and courteous service, I recommend this restaurant.
Excellent place for a drink. An added bonus was rowdy bachelorette party was there for some laughs!
Unavoidable !!!
Great discovery. I had the seafood pasta (with lobster, shrimp and scallops) and a prosecco kir. My son had the veggie pasta and the biggest sangria weve ever seen!
A group of friends and I came to visit from Newfoundland and they did not like us at all. We waited over an hour, asked several times if we could get a beer and we were ignored. Meanwhile multiple people came in after us and were served. As soon as we left, the waitress came to our table and put the chairs back in place. Ive heard rumors that the French dont like Newfoundlanders, I guess that is correct.
Terrible service, waiting 45min to order. Ended up leaving and going somewhere else.
Back in Montreal after a wonderful stay in Quebec. A big thank you to Gino Dickie for this wonderful evening on Friday. An almost intimate show that we won t soon forget! Thank you also to Marie-Ève for your excellent service and your kindness!
A nice place that we discovered in Quebec. A great atmosphere and attentive staff. I recommend the homemade poutine and the lobster with scallops. We will come back without any problem. Thank you for your welcome.
Very good for a bar. Simple and mastered cuisine with a little personal touch that sets it apart from other establishments. Atmosphere and good service are there!
The chef, Max was very friendly and made the most amazing seafood chowder and lobster poutine. Highly recommend this place.
A beautiful little restaurant-wine bar. Nice selection of wines by the glass. The restaurants menu is reduced and optimized to use the same ingredients in several different ways. My charcuterie plate was very satisfying, and my counterpart loved his lobster roll, which is not on the permanent menu but only in season. Very friendly service. Old Quebec atmosphere, with stone walls. A little chilly when we arrived, but the waitress quickly turned up the heat.
Great place for a kid-friendly afternoon snack. THE Plates of charcuterie and Cheeses are incredible and the presentation impeccable. Beer sausage with favorite sauerkraut.
Finding gems like this is what makes a vacation special. What a great atmosphere. Service was so friendly. We really enjoyed our drinks & the cheese plate. We cant wait to come back & visit again someday.
Good soup.
Great place to stop for a drink Good pizza Great staff Lots of drinks selection Food : 4/5 |
Chantal is an amazing chef Lovely atmosphere and friendly service. The food is delicious.
Was craving fondue, decided to check out a resto nearby. Good fondue overall, nice ambiance and good service.
Delicious charcuterie and sausage starter.
Great cozy and friendly place! Warm service. Barman/server in charge Saturday night was very likable. Well be back just because of you.
Staff far from accessible and welcoming!
Nice staff they felt like friends not employees, chef speaks passionately about his food. They spoke surprisingly good english for a toronto fella like me
My wife and I had two dishes. Sea food chowder and Chili . Both were some of the best we have ever eaten. Highly recommend here at Papa George s in Quebec City.
nice place lots of history, wish they had better beer. But overall great service and very friendly people.
Bad bad so bad experience
From the street, I thought I was entering a somewhat formal restaurant, but to our great surprise we came across this charming little bistro with exceptional service.
Arrived on December 26 without reservation and we were lucky to have a place even though they were overwhelmed and I recommend very nice, efficient people and very good plates with good products I recommend with pleasure
The place is located in the old town. The inside has a beautiful basement style - the smell is appropriate, plus the toilet has been diluted . We ordered food on the recommendation of the waiter - meat dishes were returned raw. Probably just a bad day.
This was our first visit, on December 31st, my husband and I, to this pub and loved it. Charming little place with ambient music. We had the cheese fondue accompanied by the charcuterie platter. These 2 dishes satisfied us. My husband had a beer and I had a glass of wine. Everything was delicious . The staff was friendly. We will surely return there during our next stay in Quebec .
nice bistro in old Quebec, we went to eat on December 31, we ordered the boudin, it was good despite its price which was not. we also took a bottle of wine, a pinot noir, (there are 5 choices on the wine list) on the way back from the bathroom, a verse is on the table and the waitress then comes to ask me if it suits me .I answer him: is it Pinot Noir? she told me yes. I taste it, its good and I tell him it suits me. she then brings a bottle of cabernet already opened (one would have said cooking wine because it was so bad). when we tell the waitress the mistake she tells us that she has the wrong bottle because the labels are similar. We then ask to have the bottle that we ordered, that is to say the pinot noir. The waitress answers us that unfortunately the pinot is no longer available. have therefore ordered another wine on the menu, the bottle arrives at the table already opened and it contains the same wine as the one we have just returned. I could give more details but in short it boils down to three points: tourist scam. bottle filling. restaurant to avoid.
Really enjoyed the unique setting and coming in from the cold, the tartare was top notch and delicious. Poutine was good, but the gravy was a bit intense and not our preference but overall great experience with the food, staff and vibe.
Nothing we selected to eat was available and they brought us the wrong drinks.
Not the first or the last time we were here...food is very good and the teeny old building cant be beat!
Very good service, very nice waitress. Really disappointing food. Beef tartare not to be eaten. $34 for cubed beef with no flavor. Like, it didnt taste like anything...
Fun place for a drink
Good welcome, good food and beautiful decor.
Its like going for a beer with our best friends. One shot inside you dont want to leave. As a bonus the food is excellent We loved it! Thank you for being you
Pleasant service. and good fondue but take advantage of the situation by asking 15% on top of an already hefty bill. 165 euros for two.
If you speak French, I suggest you go. They are very friendly to French speakers. If you dont speak French, they will not order or serve you. There is almost no service and you have to tip. The steak panini we ordered was really terrible. The meat inside was cold and the sauce smelled like rag; the fries were soft after being fried; I ordered two cocktails and they were given very little and very expensive; The chicken wings were just average, I was expecting better flavor considering such small wings cost $2; The small salad is $7 and there are a few leaves that are not very fresh.
Always a delight! I highly recommend!
Cheese fondue was great, plus I had the best sausage and steak panini of my life. Would go again.
Nice and cozy. Have your meal in Montreal in the night with amazing feelings. Try it!
Wonderful lunch in the sun on a somewhat snowy day in May. The staff were wonderful and the food and drinks were excellent.
We had wanted to try this bistro. We enjoyed the food and beverages but it took a very long time for the food to arrive.
I had previously come here in December so it was a treat to sit on the patio. Stopped for drinks and a charcuterie board - loved it. Great service too. Highly recommend
$80 for 2 salad with cranberries in it, hey seriously, Ill never set foot in it, it wasnt edible, plus, if you read this, go anywhere else, these are the best!
Still on the mark for years. We come there about once a year. And we still like it so much!!
We took 2 beers and a so-called mixed board to share, very expensive for ultimately 4 pieces of sausage and 2 of cheese. Result we paid $30 per person. Not great service.
The selection of food wasn t the greatest but for a bar in an old artistic building, the service offered made up to it. The two servers did all from serving, bartending and washing dishes. The server was so welcoming even though we are a larger group of 7 with 2 kids.
The staff here is very helpful and friendly. I felt very welcome even though speaking French is not my forte. I just popped in for a quick $5 shot. They have a very good selection, and I decided on tequila, which ended up being Cazadores Silver.
Nice place and good disheses. Recommend! Food
Live music. Small selection of commonly available beers. Decent hot dog. Bun was way too big. Amazing fries.
Wonderful staff and a great atmosphere
Visited it based on Google review stars, it turned out a bad choice. Good poutine. Bread was way overly toasted in another dish. Next to nothing service, slow serving and even slow in getting the bill. The lady serving food showed fatigue, barely paid attention to us other than taking our order (our kid speaks French). But the lady was chatty and smiling when apparently Québécois patrons came in. They also moved tables around while we were eating, making sharp metal scratching noise. Gave a 20% tip anyway, which appeared taken as granted (meaning the lady said nothing), though there was literally no service. Thank you for finally refilling the water as we were about to leave. Foods are pricey but understandable given its location. Surely do not recommend the place.
Pleasant server, great location but the platter served for more than $21 with 4 slices of cheese ....but the best beer drunk in Quebec this week
Too expensive compared to the quantities, quality products but very average service (tips taken for granted), will not return
One of the best burgers Ive ever had! Great atmosphere with live music. Friendly service with a great sense of humor.
Gorgeous spot, great food, location, service - 5/5.
Particular attention to the service and welcome from Jade. A big thank you!
Anna was a wonderful host, fantastic food, great ambience! Must visit ,
Oh boy. This place needs help with their food. Should just stick with beer for old people - straight off the cruise boats. The sausage was just a regular hotdog for $20. And the wings were teeny tiny for another $25 bucks. Fries for $10 were tasteless and flash fried and overcooked. #moneyback #touristtrap
I would like to say how I am with your teams service tonight. Bad attitude and absolutely not necessary. This was our 5th visit with you since we arrived Wednesday morning. An establishment that everyone visits us frequently. Our family has been visiting your bar for over 15 years. Since Wednesday we have been asking to buy t-shirts and finally this evening we were able. However.. A bill of $175, $120 in a t-shirt and your staff ridiculed my partner for a tip of $12 which was more than 20% for thats 3 pints of beer. When the bartender said out loud that its not a good tip for $175, my partner explained that its just $55 for a drink.. he said no, its $175, still $120 for a t-shirt. He took out another $10 now $22 tip on $55 which is 40% Its ridiculous how the bartender treated my partner. Even the people next to him noticed that it was direct and not necessary. When he left he told the bartender that it was a lack of respect. Honestly, it gives us an interest in seeing you.
You should try the grapefruit beer at this place! it was magnificent and goes very well with their poutine
It was an evening with friends, The place was pretty nice, but I didnt like the service, I understand it was busy, but I asked for a glass of water 3 times! And the coffee took almost 40 minutes longer than the other drinks! There was live music! And it was nice :)
Impeccable service from Sam and Jade!
Very friendly waiter and I liked the atmosphere. We were a group of 7 and the service was still good despite the busyness.
Great bistro, welcoming, clean and chatty as I like. We even went back to eat poutine (you have to try that at least once in your life). It was made with a homemade wine sauce and cheese curds that go scrouitch scrouitch. And their beer is excellent
The food was ok but the service was outstanding. The bougie burger was light on meat but very tasty.
Popped in for a drink, good cocktails.
Alright
The chef will prepare an EXCELLENT trout tartare...well-deserved 5 stars.
Go your way. Value for money not there, average food in small portions and an unfriendly waiter who takes an extra tip from what we wanted to give in an insistent and unpleasant manner for more than average service. That one is not to be done.
Delicious meal prepared by the owner and adorable waiter, I highly recommend this place if you are passing through Quebec! There is something for all budgets, between $10-12 and $40
The best fries in Quebec!
We just had a drink and Lanbiance was cool, very nice place, I recommend
Authentic old port pub with a cozy atmosphere. Thoughtful flavours with a variety of pickles and local meats. Lovely to have the chef bring the food and engage with the patrons.
Nice place, a little smaller than I thought. Good food, not much choice. Very good service.
Fantastic little bar with great staff, superb food and great traditional vibe!!! I had the cheese and meats board and it was heavenly! Highly recommend. Food
Went here with our one year old and were wonderfully taken care of. The chef and the server both were super nice and interacted with our daughter, food was great, and the service was impeccable. Would recommend to anyone who wants a great place with even better ambiance. Told them I d give them an 10 out of 5 if I could.
Great spot. Very cozy and charming on the inside. This is what you d expect in old city. The food is outstanding. The fondue and poutine are classic but the seafood chowder stole the show. Sone, our sever was great. Very personable and a great sense of humour.
We loved this restaurant. It had a wonderful seafood chowder that was delicious . Old and beautiful inside with wonderful service.
Very warm welcome, I was received in a very pleasant manner, I just asked if we could do a concert with Ève, it should be possible Thank you very much! The place is very pretty and quiet, and its located in a great neighborhood.
Great service. Fast and efficient. Excellent smoked trout tartare, but be careful it contains lobster. All the dishes from the other tables looked good!! Very cozy place.
Great service! Friendly staff! And the food was really good! Highly recommend!! Great friendly atmosphere! Tartar, charcuterie and steak dishes were all really good!
Bartender Dalex knows how to partyyyyyy!!!
Great discovery! Great evening thanks in part to the band on site! Thank you Jeremy for the outstanding service and great food
The nachos were served cold. The beer atmosphere were good
Small, friendly pub to have a drink with friends or family. Great waiter who knows his job
Ho! thank you for the beautiful evening, beautiful atmosphere, the gifted chef, attentive waiter, thank you both, the music, wow!! Like one wants!! The two sisters xx
Friendly service with a beautiful little terrace in the heart of Petit-Champlain. The neighborhood vibrates with all its history since the beginnings of the French colony. The architecture of the bistro is superb.
An impressive bistro bar with flair. End of the 17th century Built, its walls and the old wooden ceiling inside the restaurant show all their charm. You can breathe in history here. The menu of dishes was clear and the dishes (we had chili con carne and a carrot soup of the day with red pepper) were very tasty. My dark beer (Saints Ambroise) also fizzed like apple juice ! A recommendation for those who like it rustic.
Beautiful little restaurant with really excellent food. The poutine was really excellent, the sauce tasty The flank steak was absolutely exquisite. The portions were very good too. Both staff members were very friendly. I highly recommend. I will definitely come back.
Friendly service and tasty food. Small choice of food, but well prepared.
Lots of good drinks at reasonable prices. Excellent selection of local beers on tap.
We were lucky enough to find a table on the patio during a stroll through old Quebec on our vacation earlier this month... delicious food, great atmosphere, fantastic service. Highly recommend!!
Very friendly and welcoming waiters. Well-stocked plate of chili.
Salad was great. Has a little patio on a cute street.
Its just food. Tourist trap.
The steak and fries were delicious! We sat at the bar and spoke with the friendly chef while he prepared our food right in front of us.
Blessings !
The ambience is nice and cozy. The service and food was ok. Maybe service would be better if we spoke French fluently. The server only tried to make small talk and showed interest when we were paying the bill.
Great service. Good food. Had a charcuterie board and nachos so menu may be a bit eclectic. Beer was cold. What more could you want.
Good service and good food !
The restaurant is very nice with a bit of a pirate den vibe I think. I had a beer and a board to share. Super good, very reasonable price for a tourist place and fast service. I highly recommend!
Nice place, attentive waiter. Meal good. Top lobster sandwich.
Unfortunately very disappointed despite the good reviews beforehand. Many people returned after us and the menu was brought to them before us, my wife being pregnant, we ordered a steak (bavette) on the menu well cooked and for me blue without salad, her steak was blue just like mine so she was hardly able to eat any, I had salad which I had asked to be removed, do not specify flank steak when it is not one (hello I am a cook) the waiters did not give us have not calculated the evening for final come and complain when we were leaving the restaurant once they noticed that we hadnt given tips, nerve has a name, that of this waiter, if you want to go have a drink go ahead, dont forget tips to avoid a domestic scene if you, compare to us had been well served, cordially.
Excellent flank steak
I found Bistrot Pape Georges on Google. Great little outside seating a block from La Petite Champlain (the gorgeous little alley converted from ghetto decades ago by a very astute architect). I struck up a convo with the bartender and cook (and, it turned out, also the owner) Phil (pictured here). Great guy. Very welcoming. And completely clueless that hes one of the top Google rated pubs in the area. How amazing is that. (I dont understand high tech, he said. Im like, dude, its Google maps. How high tech is that!) Come for the hospitality. Come for the food. (In my case the delicious Surf & Turf). Come for the locals vibe (the guy, Alex, next to me lives down the road and comes here four to five times a week). If locals are coming to a pub in the heart of the tourist center you know Phil is running the place from his heart. Oh yeah. And come for the draft beer. Of course. And tell Phil to hop on Google Maps sometime and see how well hes doing!
Great little spot! Awesome cheese and meat boards, cool laid back vibe and very friendly staff. Under the radar gem in heart of tourist area but was pleasantly surprised by food, wine and prices.
We were looking for a drink on a patio and were seated quickly. Our servers were really friendly and funny and even helped us find a location in an old photo we were trying to recreate. The lobster roll was simple and delicious. The draught cider was excellent.
Very good service and the chili-nachos a great discovery.
Very nice! Not so expensive for the little champlin and (real) good poutine (no tourist trap)
The poutine we had here was the best we had during our canada trip (great fries as well, approved by a Belgian)! Apparently the chef is a sauce specialist, so that explains the high quality. Would definitely recommend and great service!
We loved this place. Its small, but that is part of the charm. Food is all prepped at the bar and is excellent. Highly recommended.
My first Putine ever. And it was . Thanks to the team!
Authentic. Chill. Delicious. Casual and pubby - in the best way. And with good wine! You may need to wait a bit for food but that s because the bartenders are also the chefs, prep-chefs, servers, and everything else. And they do it with purpose. This is the smallest kitchen you ll find and you ll say wow wow the whole time. 10/10.
Friendly waitress, but whomever delivered our food brought the bill right along with it. Nachos (paid extra for large, which are normal size elsewhere) were basically cold. Said they would come with chili, which they did not, and cheese was very visible. Wine pour and can of Coke, like the nachos were overpriced.
Old pub with poor ventilation. The washrooms were filthy with tissue boxes on the floor and had no soap. They only had hand sanitizer in a washroom with a sink, very bizarre. Could see bugs flying around the washroom too. The food was mediocre and over priced. The entrees were $30+ and not worth it in quality. The wings were tasty though. This is probably good if you want something to drink and bar food. If it weren t for the fact that we needed to eat before our ghost tour, I would have left the pub when I saw how stuffy it was.
3 years ago we never had time to eat here so today on this visit we did. We were not very impressed. We ordered a glass of wine and then decided that we would have the lobster roll. Wish we had seen the cooking area and prep area before sitting. There is no kitchen. At the side of the bar there is a small deep fryer and an induction cooker. Food was prepped on the lower part of the bar right in front of other patrons sitting there drinking. We were so hungry we have it a chance. Disappointment! There was not alot of lobster and no flavor and fries were really greasy. We were both very dissatisfied. Look into it if your going to eat. If only a drink its very nostalgic to sit outside. Sorry for the bad review but trying to be honest.
Bistro near the port of Quebec. Correct
Good place to drink. for the rest do not go there
Absolutely wonderful pub and place for a cozy snack. The bar owner and staff are so friendly and people are so welcoming. Fondue is great and poutine looked friken amazing.
Was a wonderful experience for having drinks with family in this historic place in Old Québec.
Great and unusual place. Friendly and funny chef (despite being alone in the kitchen with lots of customers). Server again friendly and attentive. We had the cheese fondue and wow!!!! Perfect taste and texture!! Thanks for everything
A great place, live music at night, they are very friendly. One of my favorite places in Quebec.
If you dont like or have no interest in trying hearty pub fare in a nearly 400 year old building, dont come here. If you expect to be pampered by hip servers and trendy dishes, this isnt the place for you. BUT. If you love buildings with great history and staff with stories to tell, then put Pape Georges at the top of your list! The pub is dark, the ceilings are low, and the food is fantastic! I loved how Chef Diony (?) (when I asked, he said to pronounce it sort of like Denny lol!) cooks everything in a tiny little kitchen right at the bar. He had, like, 10 pots going at once, all stacked on top of each other - I feel like this is the kind of place Anthony Bourdain would spend an entire day savouring! I ordered nachos (recommended addition: firebarn sauce!!). Warning to US visitors - these nachos arent like our nachos but theyre so good! Instead of ground meat and salsa, theirs is loaded with chili (lots of beans), chopped veggies, and a white sauce of some kind... like I said, different but delicious! And if you like a little flavourful heat, add that firebarn sauce! Im back in Chicago today but, when I return to Quebec City, Pape Georges is at the top of my list!
Nice place where you can enjoy nachos with warm salsa , the soup was good and hot , worth the detour anyway Vegetarian options: Nachos, fried
Small bar with a small selection of food items.
The French come and taste the wine here, its incredible
