Le Saint-Amour in Québec City

Jonathon was a very good server. He said that he was just starting at Le Saint-Amour but appeared to be very well seasoned. A woman who worked with him (I forget her name) was also quite adept at her role. The tasting menu was quite good, but not superior, which is why we gave it 4 stars. No complaints really. The wine pairing added an extra dimension to the experience and Jonathon was well-informed about each vintage. We particularly liked the Chateau Lamothe Guignard Sauternes 2016. We visited on a relatively quiet Thursday evening and found the ambiance of the space to be comfortable and welcoming. The final price of $570 (USD) for two people was reasonable for the level of service and the quality of the meal with the wine pairing.

It was far beyond our expectations. The service was slow and food was not that good. I had lobster ravioli which was ok and my husband had a lamb which was really bad. And they serve only half glass for sparking wine which is unusual. The waitress refused to take picture of us. We had a bad experience and felt waste of time and money, we have no reason to go back again.

Two extravagant evenings. Dined last evening at Le Champlain at the Chateau Frontenac. We ordered the tasting menu paired with wines. A wonderful evening not to be forgotten. Tonight we dined at Le Saint Amour and selected the tasting menu paired with wines. Huge negative contrast. Waited one half hour before waiter came to table. We watched as a limited staff slowly took orders. An offering of a proseco or a taste of wine would have helped. The evening proceeded at a snails pace. Wine pours were embarrassingly minute. Paired wines, cutlery food coordination unworthy of this highly recommended restaurant. Our Canadian next table neighbors were equally less than happy with their experience. Its a shame. The decor of the restaurant is worthy of a visit, but I suggest Le Champlain for a truly gourmet experience

Exquisite experience. Great food and great service. Everything was the best.

The restaurant is without a doubt one of the best in Quebec. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service exceptional, the wine list great. The lighting in the place is great and the decor is beautiful. Its not cheap, but its worth every penny because youll have a very special night.

Had dinner here Oct 3, visiting from BC. Its a nice restaurant, but there were a few things I found surprising for a restaurant of this calibre. First, when we got there, there were two tables with young children under the age 5; the sounds of electronic games and fussy children was not what we expected. Our waiter offered us sparkling wine when we arrived which was nice, but only later when you get the wine menu can you see that they are pushing the most expensive of three available by the glass without any explanation ($15-$45/glass). Finally, the foie gras dishes were excellent and my wife really enjoyed her filet. I thought the bluefin tuna was disappointing and meh. We didnt have dessert. Wine selection by the glass is very good.

A very nice experience at Saint-Amour. However, the quality/quantity/price ratio forces me to remove one star. For $800 for two, we have a much more complete gastronomic experience at La Tanière, sustained and remarkable in terms of service, which remains our reference in Quebec. That said, the service was very pleasant, the dishes were finely executed and we really liked the food and wine pairing. As for parking, we walked in circles in the area for a long time before calling the restaurant and they found a solution for us. We were a few minutes away from turning tack...!

Very disappointing...several cold dishes. Lamb chops, 2 pieces as big as quarters... frankly not reasonable for the price. An undercooked squab...it wasnt our lucky day. Not in our plans to return soon.

The summer tasting menu was delightful. The service is top notch, the staff are masters of their craft, a must visit when you are in town.

Dont expect to sit in the main dinning room if you dont speak French. I made reservation 1 month ahead and stated that is for our 40th wedding anniversary. When we arrived we were seated in a small dinning room in front of building, we never even saw the main dinning room, I asked our water if there was any available tables in the main dinning room, that is why I booked this restaurant, he came back and said it was fully booked, I dont believed he even asked. It wasnt that we werent dressed for the nice enough, 2 other couples that were seated in this room both spoke english, there was another couple that spoke french but was dressed in shorts and sneaker, that was probably why they were seated there. The service was slow, partly because our waiter ,the only one for that room spent a tremendous amount of time trying to push some high priced wine from the extensive wine list. We were so frustrated by the time he asked us for the desert menu, we said no thank you. The english speaking couple hadnt even ordered yet and the were visibly getting frustrated. Bottom line never again unless I take French lessons. The last time we were in Quebec for our 35th anniversary we ate at the Continental, and it was 10 times better. This place is just about presentation and selling high priced wine. There are so many other better restaurants in Quebec.

People around me had told me about this place and I couldnt wait to try it. After a nice bill of $860, here is my advice to prevent you from being cheated: 1. The decor is beautiful. 2. The place is clean. 3. The staff is professional. The only downside: the retention of information on allergies is poor. I almost ate several foods containing my allergen. Fortunately, my waitress was very alert. 4. The food is good and sought after. Negative point: the food and wine pairing is, in my opinion, too expensive for the quality of the wines offered. Would I recommend this place? I dont know, because you can get the same thing for half price at Giroux and Petit Groulx.

Come and delight your taste buds in this magnificent restaurant with an interior garden with bucolic decor. An unforgettable taste experience composed of a divine foie gras starter, a sublime scallop carpaccio and tender sweetbreads. The 7-course gastronomic experience was flawless. The wine list is exceptional and the service is most attentive, friendly and impeccable both in terms of explanations and special requirements. Quite simply the best meal of our lives. Many thanks.

We took the 7 course menu at $155 per person and surprise we were offered the one at $300 which according to the server was more elaborate and with caviar and truffle (for 2x the price) When the first 2 courses arrived the wine he still hadnt arrived, our waiter had bad breath and it was very unpleasant. Disappointing experience unfortunately. Very nice wine list if that can make the difference for you....

We were there with a large group. The servers were on top of everyones orders and very conscious of any special dietary needs. Im gluten-free, so they made small adjustments to the food to accommodate me and were very kind about it. All of the food was delicious and well presented. I would highly recommend this place for a special night out!

Had many a long, carefully-crafted meal with numerous courses. All I can say is that when you get the tasting menu they should serve breakfast as the last course because it took fooooooooorever.

We are an African couple and to celebrate my birthday, we went to the Le Saint-Amour restaurant on July 18, 2024. Unfortunately, we were treated with great contempt by an employee who took care of our table (I dont remember his name, but the bill for our consumption was settled with this employee in question). I took the trouble to point out that I had a bad time on my birthday due to his service and attitude but the employee didnt even bother to apologize. I have reason to believe that this employee might be racist, as the table directly behind us received totally different treatment than us from him. I have visited several gourmet restaurants in Quebec, but I really dont recommend this one, especially for black people. It was a very bad experience, yet we just wanted to have a good time for my party.

I loved the 7-course discovery meal with wine pairing. And suitable gluten-free for coeliacs!!

The food is fantastic, definitely recommended. But be careful with the sommelier. He only served us much too old, almost undrinkable wines, probably based on the justified idea that we were only one-time tourists. One does not expect such treatment in such a renowned restaurant.

I will divide my review into 3 sections 1) Restaurant décor and setting: gorgeous and very fancy - nice interior design and lighting and amazingly very well maintained (as the building itself is pretty old). 2) Food - of course, it is a high quality restaurant with high quality food (if you order a la carte). If you let the server talk you into a mystery menu or degustation menu, hmmm not that great and certainly way, way overpriced. Foie gras is their specialty and is very good, but please ensure you choose your own preferred items. Do not fall for the wine pairing if you are not there for the wine tasting. Way too pricey and a gimmick to make you spend more. 3) Service - we had a tad obnoxious and even condescending waiter, We were celebrating our anniversary and ordered some glasses of Champagne. He was trying to impress us with this is Queen Elizabeths favorite champagne/ this was XYZs favorite this and that making it sound like we were easy-to-impress peasants. And when we told him we are not here for the alcohol, but the food, his reply was I shall find something that caters to your BUDGET!! to which I replied oh no, cater it to YOURS, it will be simpler!. He dropped the attitude. We still ended up with close to $1000 for 2 and even with a very generous tip, we got the dirty look when we left. So overall, a very nice restaurant if you know what you want, and try not to get intimidated by the staff - it is a restaurant not the Cannes Festival.

Restaurant le Saint-Amour is a true jewel of the Quebec landscape. The welcome is very warm. The decor and atmosphere is both chic and pleasant. The quality of the dishes is more than exceptional. The expertise of the chefs in the kitchen can be tasted. They demonstrate great skill in blending flavors, in addition to incorporating local products. I can say that it was one of my best culinary experiences ever. The service is also impeccable. The staff is attentive, professional and very friendly, always ready to meet your needs without being intrusive. All have extensive knowledge of the menu and wines. They were able to answer our questions when we were curious to learn more about the different dishes. Dietary restrictions: We took the discovery menu. My father is Celiac, they modified the dishes to accommodate him.

Incredible experience, service and unique atmosphere!

Where do I even begin?! We went to celebrate my husbands birthday. We got to visit their wine cellar and it was such a special moment. What a treat! Our waiter took time and effort to explain everything about the cellar. The menu was great, their lobster dish was superb. The fois gras experience was super fun! Overall Aesthetic of the place was great. It was very cozy. Perfect place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary.

We had an exceptional time in this restaurant. The foie gras terrine and the foie gras experience are exceptional. The lamb is succulent. The service is simply impeccable and done with passion. The wine list is impressive. The interior decor is sumptuous and the winter garden very nicely decorated. We will return here with great pleasure.

Tasty, beautiful food, in a romantic setting. We were able to dine, even though we did not have a reservation, we just did not seat in the beautifully decorated room, but that was ok. Both meals cost us more than the car rental and the Hilton bedroom put together, but I must say it was a nice meal, so it was worthy. The ingredients were top quality and the meals were balanced and filling. The amouse-bouche on the house was delicious too. There was one member of staff that tried to be funny, but I cut that interaction short in an assertive manner, and the rest went well. The restaurant manager/owner (?) was excellent, and gave us very good recommendations for drinks. The bill for food was 220 dollars, but with service fee, federal tax and Quebec City tax, the total bill reached 298.

We ordered the grand discovery set with the must-order foie gras and lots of local Quebec ingredients like venison and mushrooms. The service is very good, every dish will be explained to me in English, very warm and friendly, the environment is very good. Plus, its fun to order flaming marshmallows

Absolutely divine dining experience! Parking: Make sure you arrive early to sort out your parking arrangements. There are some relatively close parking garages. You will have to walk a bit, so dress accordingly if it is cold out.

Food 4/5 Environment 1/5 - made reservation 3 days ahead, when we arrived on time, we were almost the first guests and my name was at the top of the reservation system. However the waiter set us at the table near entrance beside the noisy kitchen. The whole night we were the only table there while many others in the garden area, feel like eating at a pot room. Their explanation afterwards is: the merely 1 or 2 tables that can serve five persons in garden area were pre booked. Very interesting but not persuasive enough. Really curious at how many tables can serve five in the restaurant .

Fabulously delectable. There are not enough superlatives to celebrate the cuisine of Saint-Amour. A real gem in Old Quebec! Foie gras is a masterpiece of inventiveness and taste and visual finesse; the sweetbreads are cooked to perfection; and the sweet clover dessert!!! a simple-looking dish whose freshness should not be underestimated. My only regret in this whole extraordinary gastronomic experience was not having chosen the tasting menu, so a return is essential... Thank you for this beautiful evening!

Ate at this restaurant back in the 90 s with my girlfriend who is currently my wife. Got married in 1999. Absolutely one of the finest restaurants we ever ate at. We still talk about it to this day and plan to dine there again when we come back to Quebec!

Food was outstanding. The service was very professional and attentive. My only complaint was the seating. My boyfriend and I had the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing which was very good however we were so close to the surrounding tables that it felt like they were dining with us. I mean if you stuck your elbow out a little you would hit the person next to you. Ultimately it was just a very uncomfortable restaurant which is so unfortunate because it s beautiful.

Great place for a romantic gourmet French dinner

Most disappointing tasting menu I have ever experienced. Very little attention to detail. We left after the main course duck. Tasting menus are suppose to be a culinary journey. It s not only about the food but about the presentation, service and attention to detail. In this case everything including the food was less to be desired. The only plus was the wine pairings. The bill for 2 people was $850. Waste

Slightly disappointed with the experience we had at St-Amour. We are used to large tables. As we knew we would be passing through Quebec, we had made a reservation several weeks in advance for two people. The entire staff was courteous, the atmosphere intimate and the sauces impeccable. Not to mention an incredible wine list. Special mention to the cooking of the squab and the starter with foie gras in 5 ways. However, we suspect that the St-Amour was suffering from a lack of staff the evening we visited. On several occasions we felt like we had been forgotten. Our server never came to our table and it was the maître d who, after 35 minutes of waiting, came to follow up with us first. The other tables were receiving bread, and a waitress noticed the omission while our main course was being served. Only one person seemed dedicated to presenting the dishes, but she kept forgetting items during the presentation and the other staff couldnt answer our questions. Unlike the other tables, our desserts were quickly placed on our tables, without any presentation. Fortunately we had already partially heard the explanation from a neighboring table... Our water glasses remained empty and we had to make numerous reminders to have it corrected... when we managed to get someones attention. The restaurant didnt seem to be at full capacity that evening though. All this does not detract from the quality of the food and perhaps our experience is not representative of the usual level of service. Yet we paid a price that should have been accompanied by a certain standard.

Very good table. Exceptional taste experience if you take the Experiences menu. Impeccable freshness, local products are highlighted. Each service is presented on the plate and described impeccably. Only downside: the duration of the meal... The first service arrives almost 1h30 after being seated, for a total duration up to the addition of 5h...

While the food was delicious, the service was atrocious. The wait after being seated before anyone engaged with me was unacceptable; especially when they was only 4 other tables seated. The time between courses was excessive and one of the waitstaff was quite aggressive in removing used plates after the courses and seemed unimpressed to be working here. The main course plate was extremely hot - which I was not warned of and burned my hand when touched. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite dated - if you re looking for a modern chic place, this is not for you.

Quite an Experience! Absolutely worth experiencing, a must.

Foie Gras hot appetizer: it tastes really bad. The taste and presentation of the entire dish are simply not harmonious. Foie gras itself taste and smell slightly bloody, even the citrus taste from berries can not overcome it. Halibut with Leek: the aroma of leek is quite appetizing, however the sauce is salty which take away the freshness of the halibut. It s sad because halibut is cooked perfectly. Palate Cleanser: I would say it s better just serve high quality tea. Cuz there s a herbal taste from this sherbet is very strong. Duck Breast and Duck Heart: this is the MVP of the menu. Crispy skin with tender meat is very satisfying. Garnish matches perfectly with protein duck heart! Desert: taste is very good, I love the sweetness with the sourness from the blueberries. Nuts are highlight. However, it s difficult to eat with cutlery. I had to handheld.

Good experience with French cuisine in Canada.

When the restaurant comes with recommendations and you come with great expectations it s a little disappointing when things are just not tip top. Timing of food vs wine vs cutlery were off meaning the food was being served while either the wine, the cutlery or both were not there. The pacing of the courses was off and we had to wait fairly long in between courses. The menu is very traditional and delicious. The wine pairing was good too and when I personally did not like one wine they kindly replaced it with an other wine. The 7 course discovery menu is more like a 5 course dinner They counted the amuse (micro size bite) as a course and the pallet cleanser (no picture) too. And honestly with those included I only get to 6 courses. They also only served 5 glasses of wine pairing. The back dining room is spectacular

Super tasting menu with food and wine pairing

Me and my partner went for dinner on May 26, 2023. I had the foie gras starter and my partner had the crab and caviar starter. Everything was delicious accompanied by a glass of wine offered by the sommelier. As a main course, I had the lamb in three variations and my partner had the duck breast. The glass of wine offered went well with these dishes. Everything was delicious, the only downside was barely half a spoonful of eggplant puree and no vegetables accompanied my dish and a little more puree and no accompanying vegetables for my partner. We were really expecting a more complete plate. for the price.

We enjoyed a 7 course dinner at Le Saint-Amour! You must know ahead of time that having a 7 course meal means you are going to be sitting and eating for a long time! The preparation and presentation of each dish was gorgeous! You need to be prepared for very rich food and have an appreciation for French cuisine!

We welcome visitors from all corners of the world. We often recommended Saint-Amour as a gastronomic experience.. our last visitors were more than disappointed! Pitiful service... 3 hours of waiting for their meal, the waiters had forgotten their drinks (they dont drink alcohol), $750 for 2 adults and a child! A cold supper, and to finally tell them: adapt, we are in Quebec here... in short, we will no longer recommend this restaurant to our visitors...

Top class restaurant with top class service and food. It s very expensive but it s worth it. I m very impressed.

During our recent visit to Quebec, we reserved a table for two people on Wednesday August 9. We are regulars at large restaurants and we had always been enchanted by St-Amour during our previous visits. Unfortunately, this time the experience was disastrous. After our waiter brought us the wine and a bottle of water, we had to intercept a waitress after more than an hour of waiting because we had not yet received anything, not even bread, because the employee who seemed designated for this task circulated quickly between the tables without checking ours... After our server was informed of the situation, he finally showed up at our table and told us that he couldnt find our order (which he had already taken before). Already at this stage, wouldnt it have been appropriate or even respectful to offer us a small compensation, for example a glass of sparkling wine, in order to make up for it... We chose the 7-course tasting menu which varied between perfection (foie gras starter) and disappointments (smoked almonds drowned out the taste of the halibut and the cream puff served for dessert was rubbery - the dough had visibly gained moisture ). Shouldnt the main server assigned to a table check in regularly to make sure everything is going well? Maybe there was a lack of staff that evening? However, we paid a price that deserved to be accompanied by a standard that we had the right to expect.

We went here a year an half ago, but it was such an excellent experience, I needed to make sure I posted a review! Service was excellent, food was delicious and beautiful, atmosphere was romantic and comfortable, but also classy. Highly recommended.

We were so disappointed with our meal and experience here. The dining room is lovely, elegant and calming, really tasteful and attractive decor. The food was mostly OK. Not earth-shattering (as we had been led to expect), but just pretty good. The best dish was the amuse-bouche, though, and it kind of went downhill from there. The foie gras experience was nice but it was a lot of same-same (very tasty/unusual oyster with a (tee-tiny) bit of seared foie gras; but then three different kinds of foie gras terrine that were all very similar; and two foie gras sweets that were just sort of odd). The Wagyu beef carpaccio and scallop and caviar were both meh, nothing really special or notable). Both of our main courses (squab, lamb) were covered in heavy, sweet sauce, with undistinguished sides. The squab in particular was ridiculously expensive ($72), a little dry, and not treated delicately or carefully as one would expect such a dish to be. The cheese course was excellent and the dessert we ordered was fine too. Our main problem was the service -- inattentive, long delays in bringing wine, bringing the wrong wine. Nobody was rude to us, and the pace of the meal was OK, but it was just very hard to enjoy the experience when we were so overtly being overlooked. Not at all what I expect in a fine dining restaurant (and quite frankly, not the experience our neighboring tables were generally receiving; not sure if that was because we were women, a smaller group than those tables, or English-speaking rather than French; or maybe it was not intentional, but it was very noticeable).

If you cherish your time. Never come to this restaurant. It s the worst restaurant I had in Quebec City in 3 days. The waiter would never reply to my thank you and this is definitely not what u expect for this level restaurants and the food is overpriced for sure. Most importantly, it took more than 3 hours to finish this meal, the kitchen seems very busy but to be honest it s ridiculous to let customers wait at empty table for so long. Please see what Montreal restaurants do at $180 per person

Worst value for money for a fine dining restaurant. A bill of almost $800 for 2 (2 tasting menus and 2 drinks, no wine). Wine and foie gras lovers, you will be served. We didnt like both of those things and I think that must have been their only strength. No dish impressed me (and I emphasize the lukewarm oysters as a starter without mignonette) and I did not finish 2 plates.. They even forgot a service and we had to tell them. Also, we checked the bill only at home and they double charged my drink and the price of the 3rd tasting menu choice was wrong, more expensive than what we were told at the table. The garden room was beautiful with the fake plants, but there was a real one behind my seat and it was poorly maintained. Also, cobwebs on the chandeliers on the wall. That says a lot about a restaurant s attention to detail. Last year we went to La Tanière and it was cheaper, with an absolutely incredible experience, 17 services, we moved through 3 rooms and the waiters ran everything flawlessly. There was even a food and cocktail pairing. It was simply perfection. This is where I recommend you go, or even to the LeClan restaurant. For a fraction of the price, you will be impressed and delighted.

I have visited this restaurant twice now and have not been disappointed. Cloakroom service at the entrance for coats. The dining room is beautiful with its plants and ornaments. The service was impeccable. The staff listens to our needs. Change of utensils between each service, bread and butter are served, filling of our wine glasses. Explanation of each dish presented. My partner had the tasting menu and I had the à la carte menu. Since I didnt have as many services, they offered me a Norman hole to make the wait easier. The food was excellent. Each bite is a wonderful blend of flavors. Nice attention during the last service since we were celebrating our engagement.

The tasting menu was versatile, creative and a fantastic experience. The setting in the inside garden was beautiful too. Only downside was that we had informed them that it was a special occasion as we were celebrating my partner s birthday and yet nothing special was done. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our experience.

This was my second time at this masterpiece of a restaurant and to celebrate a very special occasion. To begin with the staff makes you feel completely at home and is very patient while catering to you. This place can slow down the time especially in its garden seating area and make you forget about the world. And not to forget you are in the picturesque walled city. Thé foie gras experience is one of a kind and stands out vs other places in the city. Every morsel is worth savouring and an experience to cherish. Not every day you are dining at the finest restaurant in Quebec City!

Love the food and the service. We were worried that we didn t bring any fancy clothes with us on our short trip to QC plus with a young toddler they won t serve us. I called and they said they have no dress code. The staff are all nice and friendly, feels like a family restaurant vibe. The food from the presentation to the taste are superb. This is a place where you would want to come back whenever you feel to spurge for a special occasion. The dinning time is long but it was good that we didn t feel rushed and we took the time to enjoy the meal and really taste the favor profile. One minor criticism is that when we first arrived they put us in a separate room. So two occasions our request has been forgotten and we have to remind them about the order. They don t have assigned servers but multiple people come to serve you at random so maybe there s some communication gaps. For a fine dining restaurant that might be something they want to look into.

This restaurant is on par with a Michelin star restaurant. The 7-course tasting menu (called a discovery menu with them) is fantastic and filling. Their 60-page wine menu is impressive, and the cocktails have as much love and care as the dishes. The ambiance in the garden area is beautiful, transporting you across the ocean to Europe. The service was a little slow, but that is on par with our other experiences across Canada. It was still friendly, attentive, and guiding, though.

Unfortunately we received inappropriate and even shameful treatment from an upscale restaurant. The lamb chop in one of the dishes we ordered was very dry, hard to chew and not tasty (probably the wrong part of the meat or the wrong cooking). We reported to the waiter and returned this portion in the dish. The response - I will report this to the chef. Beyond that they did not contact us and simply ignored. They did not offer an alternative meal or any compensation. It should be noted that the same dish my wife ate was delicious. My wife tasted my dish and I tasted hers and it was absolutely clear that my dish had a flaw and the meat was unworthy and dry. The restaurant failed in service and quality. Not recommended at all.

One of the most beautiful tables in Quebec City. A unique place to enjoy an excellent gourmet meal. Quality and service are there. It has the best and most extensive wine list in Quebec. I highly recommend.

The food was amazing, I would have given a 5 star for the food. However, the host rubbed me the wrong way - we had an early reservation, the restaurant was mostly empty, and when I asked to sit at a different table he said no without giving a satisfying reason. Not to draw any conclusions, but based on my observation of the rest of the evening, it does seem like they try to size people up and seated all of the old white people together, and minorities/ younger families elsewhere. Our waiting staff was pleasant, so it was an overall okay experience.

Excellent. I really loved my first experience at this beautiful restaurant. As I opted for the seven-course discovery menu, I was lucky enough to be able to discover some magnificent, very well presented dishes. Each dish was magnificent to look at as well as to taste.

This place was over the top!! It has to be the best French restaurant in Old Quebec City. I felt like I was in Paris at a 3 star Michelin place. Sit in the garden and revel in the beauty before ordering. It will all come together. Bring extra money $$$$$

Absolutely beautiful venue that makes you feel like you re dining in a luxurious garden in Paris. The food is also amazing, a delicious blend of local ingredients. We took the 7 course meal but it was a bit too much since some of the portions were actually big (considering all the courses). I would recommend to order a la carte unless you re really hungry.

We had the tasting menu which was absolutely wonderful. A highlight was the foie gras, but the halibut was also really delicious. The service was terrific and our friendly and helpful waiter made a wonderful wine recommendation for me when I didn t choose the wine pairing. Delicious champagne cocktails as well. I highly recommend this place with two small quibbles. First, the pour on the wine is pretty stingy for what they are charging. And secondly, the restaurant has three rooms. Two the one in the front and the garden room in the back are really pretty. Unfortunately we were seated in the third room, which has low ceilings, and a view of a window with Venetian blinds covering it and a glass case with napkins and plates piled up. We were kind of sad looking at the other really gorgeous rooms and then being in our ugly room. So if you go, request to be seated in either the front room or the garden room.

Food was wonderful. However, 2 stars because of the rude waiter, tall dark hair, who served the front area of the restaurant (not the garden patio area in the back) today. Like some other reviews, this guy tried to upsell and when 4 of us ordered only 2 appetizers (2 of us had late lunch and didnt care for appies), he gave us a dirty look. So I ordered 3 appetizers, and he grinned. After finishing appetizers, we waited about 30 min for 4 entree dishes to come. A glass of wine that my sister ordered was so little that it just looked like a tasting size. After we finished the meal, the waiter asked if we want dessert. We didnt have room for desserts, and so just asked for the bill. The waiter comes back with a dirty look again and handed me the credit card machine with 20% TIPS ALREADY PUNCHED IN BY HIM. Total came out to be about $450. I didnt bother changing it or mentioning anything about it cause it wasnt even worth my time. What a pathetic rude guy. He shouldnt be working in a restaurant like this - does the retaurant owner even know what this guy is doing to customers?

Good restaurant offering dishes whose flavors are present and well arranged; magnificent presentation. The attitude of the head waiter, however, ruined a good part of the experience. The latter was superficial, with uneven service from one table to another (varying depending on the number of guests and the quantity of alcohol). On two occasions he was eager to help us move on. This is the kind of employee we should not find in a restaurant of this category. Fortunately, the other members of the establishment were courteous, professional and warm.

Contrary to some negative reviews that I have read, the restaurant is great. All the waiters and other staff are very professional and polite and the food is of a high standard. And what about the garden terrace. A real favorite, I was speechless when I saw how magnificent it was. The only weak point is the wait: sometimes the wait between 2 services was 5 minutes, and sometimes 45. But thats understandable. One thing is certain, I will return there as quickly as possible!

Amazing experience and totally worth going if you are in town, definitely ask for the garden / terrace area and try to get a reservation ~5:30pm right when they open so you have some privacy before it gets busy. The staff was very friendly and gave us a great dinner that will be remembered. I will definitely be coming back.

Superb restaurant but the dishes, although very good, did not leave a wow impression. With a bill of more than $300 for 2 people who only had a starter and a main course each (no dessert or aperitif) and a bottle of wine at $80, it seems to me that, at this price, we Should say it was fantastic but no. We had better taste impressions elsewhere for much less money.

Place is beautiful and service is nice, but not too much out of the ordinary for a fine dining place. We did the discovery menu and, while interesting, resulted a bit plain to me. Once paired with a glass of wine and tips, the end bill resulted overpriced for what we got. We also got almost forced into leaving tip, despite making a conscious decision on cutting there after we saw the total. The staff was nice and service was good so ended up rewarding them, but didnt like how they basically intercepted me at the exit and directly started typing in the machine to swipe the card because I was not meeting the gratitude standards. Overall a good experience but with some obvious caveats.

We love our last-minute & on-whim trip to Quebec City, everything was booked within days to our arrival on Friday. The only available reservation for US labor day weekend reservation was Friday at 9 pm and was late for our usual dining time. We glad that we took it anyway and it was a great decision. The food was delicious even when we were not hungry from a big lunch and could have just skipped dinner that day. We wished we had the stomach for the 7-course discovery meal. They had the summer menu and we shared Foie Gras Experience, the Quebec Lamb Rack, and Bison Sirloin among 3 of us. We got a complementary scallop sauce from the restaurant which was amazingly delicious. All of the food were delicious and if I must rank, the lamb would be the best dish. For dessert, we had the Maple Mousse. I am not a fan of mousse, but this dessert was excellent, it was not overwhelmingly sweet. The sweetness was on-point for me to taste the flavor or maple and chocolate. We would have been back for another dinner within the trip if there were not fully booked for the rest of our visit. There were no specific dress code for the restaurant, we didnt pack any business casual or dress shoes. We didnt dress up like a bump, but surely not above and beyond either. Some guests were wearing jacket, dress, and even shorts. I saw a couple with shorts and sandals.

We took the discovery menu (without meat and that was no problem), excellent starters and main courses, the dessert a little below our expectations. Very good service (we did not take alcohol and did not feel any pressure, to qualify some comments). We recommend without hesitation.

I have no complaints about the restaurants exceptional food. The service, however, was disastrous. After almost an hour, we finally got our aperitif, after having to hook a waitress to ask for it, and almost an hour 45 minutes, to get the appetizer, after asking for it as well. We also had to ask for the bill because no one came to see us, even though we had all finished a while ago.

After a few years, I have forgotten other dishes. Only the lobster soup impressed me, the taste of lobster. Absolutely delicious, I have never tasted such delicious lobster soup The third time I went there with my wife. In June this year, the two of us ate for $400 plus tip. We ordered 9 services and two glasses of wine for $129. I was as satisfied as ever. The chef changes the menu several times every year. Every time I come here They are all completely different taste feasts. The price is a matter of opinion. What you eat depends entirely on your mood. If you have the money, I highly recommend it.

Overall, this was the best meal of our three week trip to Quebec. We tried all three foie gras offerings, which were great. I had the foie gras experience and loved every variation. The four of us all tried a different entree - sqab, veil sweet breads and lobster, halibut, and Canadian Bison sirloin, with every one being very good. The gourmand of our group picked a wonderfully complementary white wine despite the variety of orders (I generally avoid red wines as the sulfites in most of them invariably give me a headache). The deserts we trled were also quite nice - Vanilla and rum crème brûlée, Pineapple (Lemon cream with coconut sugar, herb sorbet). Service was impeccable. Parking: As parking on the narrow street was very limited, we walked there (around 15 minutes from our hotel, being slow walkers). We treated ourselves to a 5 minute cab ride on the way back, which the restaurant staff arranged for us.

Six stars if we could. Beautiful ambience paired with gourmet, well thought out cuisine. They made something special for my vegetarian wife that left a smile on her face. Wine list was fantastic as well along with very friendly and intuitive wait staff. Please don t skip desert! This place has a very special place in our hearts.

As far back as I can remember, I have always seen this sign catch my eye every time I visited Quebec. I ended up taking the plunge and finally discovering this legendary restaurant with decor inspired by art nouveau. Entering these places is like taking a step back in time. We opted for the discovery menu, the portions were perfect to make us appreciate each dish at its true value without coming out of there rolling. obviously, we started with the foie gras which made the reputation of the establishment. Are we going back? Obviously, in addition to the discovery menu, the menu seems to change with the seasons.

Perfection in every way! Tonight my wife and I shared the best dining experience we have enjoyed for more than a decade. First the main dining room was absolutely beautiful. Second, the service we received from Julian and Marie was very professional yet friendly. All suggestions that Julian made for both food and wine were spot on. And Maria did a super job of explaining each dish! Now for the Food the absolute star of the evening. The Seared Foie Gras may be the best dish we ever enjoyed. It was exceptional!! Although the Foie Gras Experience was very nice the Seared Foie Gras was per my wife orgasmic .especially paired with a glass of Chateau D Yquem. For main courses we enjoyed the Duck and the Deer. Again both winners! And just when you thought it could not get any better we enjoyed for dessert Chocolate 3 ways. A warm chocolate mouse, a velvet rich chocolate ice cream, and a chocolate fudge bar with crème caramel! You just can t believe how great it was! If there is one restaurant you splurge on in Quebec City this should be it!!

It was a very bad dining experience. First of all, it is worth saying that the two front desk and service staff were very nice. I am very satisfied and grateful. However, we were served by a middle-aged man with a crew cut, who had a very bad attitude and no service at all. The food was served very slowly, and it took us ten minutes to pay the bill. We waited for a very long time, and I saw that the bill was charged $7 per person for service, so I didnt want to tip. The waiter scolded us in French behind our backs before we even stepped out of the door. I have reason to suspect that the waiter was racist. I will also post my comments on other platforms.
