This was such a lovely place to stop for dinner! The waiter was very informative and helped me pick a very interesting meal that included deer, elk and Buffalo meat, all of which was delicious. The sides were thoughtfully prepared too, and the dessert was delicious. I also felt that everything was very reasonably priced for the quality, though I did choose a more expensive meal.

My sister came to visit a week after I moved to Québec Cité. Straight from the airport, we shared our first dine out meal together at this First Nations restaurant in Vieux-Québec, and OMG 😍! What an amazing meal and cultural experience. I've lived in Germany, Norway, Australia, and the US, and it's very important to me to support Black owned and Indigenous owned businesses. The food was splendidly delicious. The atmosphere was beautiful and culturally well represented with the Wendake First Nations flare. I can't wait to visit the Wendake culturally site and center to engage with the local First Nations community and learn more about their history and culture. This was undoubtedly one of the best meals and presentations of a lunch I've ever had. I recommend a visit to this restaurant and the Wendake Cultural Site and Museum in Wendake Québec.

We happened on to Sagamite looking for a light lunch. It was it busy and we were quickly seated. Wow, the decor is spectacular with totem poles, canoe and some great paintings. It focuses of food from the First Nation. We shared the appetizer of pastry with venison and elk. It was very good with a tasty sauce. A unique and special restaurant.

Fine dining with interesting game meat and of course a high price. Nice ambiance and good services. The flame plate with deer, bison and elk was nice and presented well. The maple pie was ok but not as special as expected. Veggies on the plate unfortunately didn’t look too fresh. Nice try to nice a while.

Wonderful restaurant. The staff really know there stuff took me through the menu. Very knowledgeable about all the items and how to enjoy them. I went for the set menu. Everything was great, and the main course of Elk, Venison, and bison flambéed on a hot stone tripod was such a deligh. I love the fact you can finish the meat to your own level of 'rareness'. I was well fed but still found room for the maple pie which was a brilliant finish to a great meal. Absolutely amazed by this place, if you are in Old Quebec then check them out.

We went here with our 3 young kids for our 15th anniversary. The staff was so kind and helpful with our kids. The presentation was so fun. Honestly, the flavor of the meet left a little bit to be desired. But the dips we good. We also got the buffalo ravioli which was super rich and a little over smoky for our taste. It is a very expensive restaurant which we knew going into it. My son wanted just cheese pizza and they ended up putting pepperoni on it, but we were able to remove it for him. The atmosphere is so fun and amazing and it was cool to talk with the kids about the indigenous people who lived in the area before French settlers came. They played drums and gave us a dessert with a small slice of both the sugar and maple pies which were amazing. We got a bottle of wine that was absolutely delicious for about $55 CAD so not too bad. All in all not sure if we would go again but enjoyed it for the one time.

I truly enjoyed this experience and discovery of First Nation food. Service was warm and friendly. The meat was delicious, and I truly loved the whole table d’hôte menu with soup, and dessert. The home made maple tart was heaven. 😋

★★

VERY expensive and seriously disappointing, at least our meal of fish. Very overcook smoked salmon and trout with a thick sauce that had a skin (mine) and overcooked walleye (my wife). The sagamite soup starter and salad was delicious but after that...not good. Also amazing is that the silverware was cheap cafeteria-grade and we were instructed to keep it from course to course. Wild! Oh well, live and learn. :-(

We had a disappointing evening. A woman working there judged my girlfriend for not ordering alcohol and just ordering spaghetti. I ordered the house specialty game meat. When the meat arrived, it was nicely presented but cold inside. After pointing this out, we had to wait a while before we could continue eating. My girlfriend s spaghetti was below average. The sauce was overly sweet and cheap with simple plasticky cheese. It tasted like something out of a baby food jar. My wine, which cost 23 dollars, was basic at best. When we asked for the bill, I decided to leave a 5 dollar tip as a gesture, but the woman working on December 22 was extremely rude, insisting I should tip more because I was below the norm. I felt harassed and honestly should have left no tip at all. This behavior was unacceptable. Despite leaving the 5 dollar tip, she did not thank me or even make eye contact, simply walked away without giving me my receipt. When we left, I said goodbye, and she refused to respond. I am sure others have had nice experiences here, but this woman completely ruined our night out.

We took advantage of the five (5) course menu at $95 as part of Québec - Table Gourmande. We loved the scallops and the melting calumet. The Sagamité soup was also very good, but it remains a ground meat soup... The medallions were OK... the deer being much more tender than the elk. I found it all a little expensive for the quality although it was a unique opportunity to taste wild meat. The service was very friendly and the decoration sublime. We had a pleasant evening.

My salad was very special ...didnt taste fresh (left in the plastic bag for too long), crumbled sweet cookies on top (it tasted something like that), little and sweet sauce. When asked by the waiter, I said I didnt like the salad. He said: its just a salad. The meat (fillet) was great. The side dishes are loveless. All in all very disappointing. Unfortunately we encountered a rather rude server during our breakfast experience. We were kept waiting over 5 minutes to be seated when there were several empty tables, as I watched the server inputted things on the till and went in and out of the kitchen, I could hear the dishwasher being stacked. I would have expected that clearing a table in order to seat customers who were standing in the doorway would be a priority but obviously not. We waited standing in the entrance and eventually I asked if we could sit and wait. He complained that he was alone and the restaurant was busy, he had to serve people and clear tables. He was actually quite aggressive, I told him that none of these things were my fault. We would actually have left and gone elsewhere but this was a breakfast provided by our hotel so we had no choice. When he served us he also complained that they had been open since 8am but everyone chose to come at 10am, how unreasonable for having a little lie in when on holiday! If timing is an issue then perhaps timing for the hotel breakfast needs to be looked at. I watched as the same thing happened to other people and two people actually left. The food was nice but the experience was spoiled.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate my father-in-laws birthday and it was a terrible experience. Not to go into too much detail, we had to change our order 4 TIMES!... almost 5 -.- Because one ingredient or another was missing, some of these things could have been resolved by taking ingredients from the evenings menu and charging us the difference, offering other ingredients, etc. Deplorable attitude of the main waiter and the kitchen, very closed people and with little sense of customer service. We suggested they wait another 20 minutes until dinner time so they could order from the next menu, but the server in charge said no, although the kitchen was willing to do so. Finally, we thought we were finally going to eat (45min later) and the waiter (a young waiter, new and very friendly) came back and told my father-in-law that an ingredient was missing and that they were not going to make it. replace we would just pay the normal price but for less food...ridiculous! My father-in-law, who is the calmest person in the world, finally had no other option than to get up from the table and talk to the cook, they completely ruined his party. I do not recommend this place, the lack of common sense of those responsible is incredible.

July 22, 2024

When I left this restaurant, I swore to myself that I would give my opinion. Belatedly, Im doing it today. If I could give 0 stars, I would. We went there as a family: 5 bills. For Fathers Day. This was the worst restaurant experience Ive had. We went there for brunch, so at the start of the day. Half of the ingredients were already missing. No smoothie, no wood meat. So we could only have standard lunches. Forget the sagamity experience! But the kitchen didnt put it that simply... no. We had to change our meal choices 4 times. The waiter offered us to take the evening menu so that we could taste the typical menu. The kitchen agreed. But the waiter with more experience didnt want to. The server with experience refused all the accommodations that our server offered us. He seemed to enjoy using his veto. Moreover, when we entered the restaurant, this waiter was quick to cut us off when the youngest accompanied us to our table to ask us if we had a reservation. There were 3 tables that were occupied in the restaurant. As I told our waiter, more experience doesnt mean he does his job well and cares about the business. In the end, my father went to the kitchen to express his way of thinking about your cooking. Because my father was told, for the 5th time, that there was not one meat in the dish he had chosen, that there was no possibility of adding more than the 2nd meat in the said dish (simple breakfast sausage) and that he was not going to have any financial compensation for the shortage. My father never says one word louder than the other. He never actually speaks. You have accomplished an achievement by blowing it up. This is the only thing your establishment managed that day. In short, we should have stayed in the queue at La Bûche.

Very disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. We were among the first to arrive in the upper section and were the last to be served. Groups arrived 30 minutes after us and were served, fed and left before we could get our meal. We ordered yogurt and a lunch plate without eggs (intolerance) with extra ham. The waiter served us the wrong plates 3 times in a row. We waited 1 hour for these dishes and we couldnt eat at the same time. When my friends dish arrived, the ham and bacon was cold, it was the wrong roast and there was an egg (also cold). All with a glass of water with black lumps inside. Finally, we pay. Did you know that extra ham , that is to say a single small slice of cold ham costs $7? Its frankly abusive. The staff are not receptive to constructive and polite feedback aimed at improving service and are not prepared to take responsibility for their faults...very mature to yell at dissatisfied customers in the restaurant. In short, we were very happy, initially, to have access to breakfast with our hotel, but having known we would have gone to Tim Hortons. That said, the dinner service seems very good, but we are not going to confirm this hypothesis.

Chez Sagamite in historic Old Quebec is a delight. The service was great and the food was fantastic. The restaurant represents a bit of a fusion between the French and the Native Indian population with many dishes including elk, venison, and bison. My wife started with their excellent house soup which includes the three meats plus corn, squash and beans. I enjoyed a cream of cauliflower soup. She followed with surf and turf with a delicious mushroom based dipping sauce. I recommend the spaghetti with venison, bison and elk. Pair all of this with a bottle of Pinot noir and finish with their phenomenal maple pie (it is Canada after all!). You cant go wrong by choosing this place for dinner! Business casual attire is just fine. You will need a reservation though.

This restaurant is a celebration of gastronomy, where each element of the meal is composed with almost orchestral precision. The starter tartare deserves a special mention, completing this already breathtaking picture. Prepared with a blend of meticulously chosen seasonings, this dish takes the notion of entrée to a new level of excellence. The subtle balance between spices and herbs refines the taste of wild meats without ever masking them, demonstrating an unwavering respect for the intrinsic quality of the ingredients. It serves as the ideal opening to the feast to come, immediately establishing a level of quality that the rest of the meal only amplifies. The pinnacle of this culinary symphony is undoubtedly the meat, cooked to a perfect hot blue color, a gastronomic tour de force rarely seen even in the most renowned establishments. The seasonings, discreet but decisive, enhance each dish, down to the different mayonnaises, which provide a delicate balance which highlights rather than masks the original flavor of the food. The soup, often relegated to the role of mere preamble, was a masterpiece in its own right, demonstrating that even the most humble items on the menu were worthy of attention. Dessert concludes this feast in an exceptional manner, marking the high point of an already unforgettable meal. Well balanced between sugar and sweetness, it demonstrates an attention to detail which is the mark of great establishments. The flavors are harmoniously distributed, creating a complex taste experience without ever going overboard. However, the musical accompaniment could have been better suited to enrich this sublime experience. Music with Native American tones would have provided additional texture, making the experience not only a delight for the taste buds, but also a joy for the ears. However, it is understandable that musical tastes are a matter of personal preference. I returned to the restaurant a few months later and the ambiance is now perfect, with Native American music enriching the sensory experience. The ravioli, also succulent, were a very nice surprise, adding a new dimension to this already exceptional feast. The balance of flavors in this dish reveals remarkable culinary mastery, where each bite is an explosion of harmonious tastes. As a result, I upgrade my rating to 5 everywhere. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner, we were here visiting all the way from New Jersey USA. It was our first time trying native American style food and I would say 98% of it we enjoyed! There was one dish we weren t particularly a fan of the taste but we loved the duck salad, deer/elk/bison dish cooked over the flame and the maple pie were all delicious! Our host Robert was also amazing, he kindly kept the restaurant open a bit longer for us to dine for dinner. He s very attentive and helpful explaining the menu to us and making suggestions. He was very friendly and welcoming, a great server to our experience! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and would recommend any one to try it out and have a great experience as we did. Thank you again!

It was an amazing fine dining experience; great atmosphere, very friendly staff and fresh, great quality and splendid taste. We came here as a group and tried many of the menu items, but most of us ordered Yatista which includes Venison Puff Pastry, Sagamité Soup or Warm Duck Salad, Maple Pie, tea or coffee. For your meat, you have the option between shrimp, filet mignon, deer & elk or deer & elk & chef s choice (which was bison at that time). I strongly recommend Yatista as it s a very unique experience where they cook the meat to medium rare, and serve it on a hot stone; once they put it on fire, you can adjust it to your liking. Everything was very delicious; soup, duck salad and of course the pie. My favorite meat was bison and then elk.

The restaurant is incredible, the staff are really lovely, we were served very well. The food is truly extraordinary, we took the menu with the gallows with elk, deer and bison meat, the way of cooking with the big flames is always superb to see again and I never get tired of it. Every time I go to Quebec, I eat here, and the experience is always unique and it is with pleasure that I pay the price each time. On my next stay, I will return there for sure

A really unique dining experience. The house elk soup is delicious. The fish with cranberry chutney is an interesting mix of savoury and sweet. I was so impressed with how well it was cooked: melt in your mouth smooth with barely any bones in it. The restaurant has some cool pieces of Indigenous art as well. The only critiques was that the T-bone was a little tough but it came with an amazing sauce to balance this. Thank you for a great experience! Vegetarian options: Not too many vegetarian options, meals are mostly meat-based.

We were Sagamité fans before the fire. First time this evening, March 5, that we went back.... After more than 30 minutes of waiting... No one had come to take our aperitifs... I understand that the server seemed to be busy, but there was 3 other people on the floor and although I asked the one who served us water for the choice of wine by the glass... At no time did an employee ask us if we wanted an aperitif... The girl at the bar was washing his glasses, the hostess was dismantling the dinner tables to prepare for lunch service, the man who had served us water was walking around the restaurant. Really disappointing. We got up and left without having any service after over 30 minutes.

Do not recommend this restaurant at all, we ate in a group in this restaurant chosen by our travel agency.... what can I say except that we will only remember the unfriendliness of the waitress which I think should moreover, move towards another profession. Not enough room for the whole group, very cold exchanges, a tip imposed on the ticket, in short, quite a few points to review. The quantity of food on the plate also brief if you are hungry and looking to be well received go your way

We arrived for our 1pm reservation where the waiter asked us if we preferred to have the lunch or evening menu, which I really appreciated. I enjoyed the variety of meats and lunch options. Most plates were priced between $20 and $25, which I think is now the norm at any restaurant that serves lunch. My husband took the duck club and I the hunter. I highly suggest the Hunter, it contains wild boar bacon, game sausage, duck rillettes, 2 eggs and bannock bread. It was very good, and it was different while remaining a good classic lunch. We will come back another day to try the dinner menu.

The bundle starter tasted nothing, the salad we dont talk about, the seafood pizza, even Pizza Hut couldnt have done worse. My nieces dry tartars lacked the taste of salt at the bottom and the fries were not cooked. All for $85 afterward we were told that the restoration was going badly. Immersion in the delicious culinary world of the Sagamité restaurant. A first for my girlfriend. . For my part, a third time. It was SPLENDID. . Magnificent gallows with 3 meats. Deer, elk and bison accompanied by mayonnaise sauces including a totally surprising porcini sauce. And what could be better than ending the meal with a smoker-smoked courser des bois crème brûlée with maple flavor and bison from the gallows. TOTALLY DECADENT. The touch that makes THE difference between all crème brûlées. I highly recommend them.

(Tuesday Jan. 16th) Our server was amazing, offered so many suggestions, and you could tell he wanted you to have an excellent experience. The food was delicious. I tried the bison ribs (which they were technically out of but were able to make an alternative dish of like a slow roasted bison shoulder) and my boyfriend got the elk steak. We both appreciated the different cultural food experience and dining atmosphere. We talked about coming again but didnt get the chance before we left. Would come here again.

Le service était excellent notre serveuse était vraiment une pépite: très à l écoute, avenante et gentille avec nous. We arrived for 6 p.m. with a reservation. My boyfriend and I had the 4-course table dhôte. The food was excellent, the cooking of the meat was perfect. The only big downside we had was the service. We ate the first 3 courses in less than 1 hour, the service was perfect, the waitress came to see several of us to ensure that everything was correct. After finishing our plate of the main meal it was 7 p.m. it took no less than 30-40 minutes before we were served. Then, offer us dessert and finish dinner around 7:50 p.m. Our waitress was very nice when she came to see us and talk to us, but in my opinion it is unacceptable to leave a finished plate after 35-40 minutes of time. We were in a small room with around 3 other tables and she had come several times to the other tables while passing our table and seeing that we were finished, but she did not come to serve us. A couple behind our table who had the same waitress had also waited a long time to place their dish order. The restaurant room was not even completely full, but there were 3 servers to carry out the evening service. However, they should have taken fewer customers at a time, in order to offer adequate service and in an acceptable time.
