Our hotel concierge booked a last minute reservation for us at this amazing restaurant! We ordered the Raw and Cooked Oysters, Roasted Duck and Smoked Squash, the Guinea fowl & cauliflower and a vegan pasta dish. Be careful not to order dishes with repeat ingredients together. All dished were in huge portions. This restaurant is highly recommended!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolutely phenomenal dining experience from start to finish! This French restaurant in Quebec completely exceeded our expectations. All the food is locally sourced, which truly enhances the freshness and flavor of every dish. We started our evening in the charming speakeasy for a cocktail, where David crafted one of the most delicious drinks we’ve ever had—such a fun and cozy vibe! At the restaurant, we were lucky enough to have William as our server, and he was simply outstanding. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and kind, making us feel welcome at every turn. The food? Simply to die for. Every bite was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. This place is a true gem, and we can’t recommend it highly enough. If you’re in Quebec, do yourself a favor and make a reservation—you won’t regret it!
A culinary delight tucked into a side street just one block away from the port. The ambience was elegant, quiet and perfect for our 26th anniversary dinner. We decided on the a la carte menu. The first course was fried ravioli stuffed with caramelized sweet onions. A perfect palate preparation to enjoy with our wine. Just one each which was also perfect This was followed by cooked oysters - I ordered six, next time I will order a dozen - the boar bacon and jalapeño pepper complimented the oysters and au gratin, an exciting combo. Next, my favorite dish, the Tataki de veau & courge fumee. (Veal tataki and smoked squash) the veal was perfectly seared with an apple balsamic drizzle. The fumee was creamy and flavorful. I might have a double order of this next time, as an entree. Last was the guinea fowl and cauliflower, another inventive combination. It had a nice symphony of flavors and textures, I loved the crunchy sage semolina and cauliflower puree. I thought the fowl could have used a little more spice on it but that’s just preference on my part. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his order of raw oysters, his third course was the arctic char, he commented that it was a new flavor for him that he would like to try again. Fourth course: He says the halibut was lovely and nicely prepared. He would have liked the pasta and red sauce served separately from the white sauce accompanying the halibut. Everything was fresh and organic. Would have loved to watch these dishes being prepared. The restaurant was full you may need a reservation depending on the day. We were there on a Thursday and were seated without one. Service, the restaurant staff were professional, friendly and personable. Put this one on your itinerary!
I give this Restaraunt a 5 out 5 star. We came for dinner our first night in Quebec and had the pairing menu accompanied by the premium wine pairing option. Everything was amazing, the atmosphere, the food, the service and the attention to detail are all matched. We are back again for an afternoon cocktail. The creativity that has gone into every part of this establishment creates the most memorable experience.
Bistro l'Orygine in Quebec City offers a wonderful dining experience with its beautifully designed decor that sets a relaxed and elegant mood. I accidentally booked our reservation for the wrong month, but the host was incredibly accommodating and managed to find us a table, which we greatly appreciated. We opted for the 5 course dinner with a non-alcoholic pairing. The food was good overall, with some dishes standing out more than others. While it wasn’t the best meal we’ve ever had, the experience was enjoyable, and the thoughtful service really made a difference. Bistro l'Orygine is a lovely spot to spend an evening, especially if you're looking for a place with great ambiance and attentive staff.
Absolutely amazing experience. Staff weee outstanding…friendly welcoming, knowledgeable. They took the time to inform us about the menu and all the locally sourced ingredients. The food was so nicely presented and flavourful. Highly recommend.
The menu changes based on what is available. The service was excellent with staff explaining all the ingredients and preparation of the dish. The wine pairing was great. The warm hand towels before the meal was a nice touch. Everyone in our group loved their food. Be certain to book a reservation.
We’ve experienced great vegan fare in London, Brugges, Bucharest, Tallinn, etc but none were as exceptional or memorable as L’Orygine! The atmosphere is modern and very cozy. A really awesome vibe to it and an opportunity to watch the bartender mix his creations right from our table. The service was outstanding!! The waitstaff were all very engaging and could not do enough for us. Very friendly and quick to fulfill our requests. We enjoyed the 6-course Discovery menu. Not only was each dish visually appealing but each was unique and exceptionally pleasing to the palate. Some very creative fare. I could continue on for many more paragraphs but suffice it to say that L’Orygine is a must visit dining experience when in Quebec. Highly, highly recommend!!
Fantastic atmosphere and wonderful service, the outdoor dining is delightful in the summer and the menu is fresh and very good Vegetarian options: Lots of choices for vegetarians
This place is a gem. The tasting menu (vegan version) with wine pairing was spectacular.
Great evening, we were a group of 10 to celebrate the holiday season, Nicolas was a 10/10 host. Food and wine selection, cocktail it was a wonderful evening!
It s a popular restaurant There is a bit of a wait. The meal was delicious, but the coffee was really delicious.
What a magnificent restaurant! I loved everything! A little aperitif in a cozy atmosphere at the Vieux Carré bar and then a wonderful dinner (totally lactose-free). The oysters were delicious. The halibut and duck were amazing dishes. For the Dessert, one of the best lactose-free desserts for a long time! We will definitely come back. Thank you to the whole team for the wonderful service!
We went to the Vieux Carré for the first time last night and wow, quite a discovery. We were welcomed by Gabriel with whom we spent a memorable evening. He was great with us. His colleague David was just as nice. The cocktails were prepared with care. We feasted on excellent caviar, then a beef tartare to die for and a mushroom ravioli topped with squash cream. Everything was divine. We are sure to introduce this gem to friends. We plan to return in two weeks. Thanks again for everything Gabriel and see you soon.
Exquisite food and great advice on wine! A great outing to treat yourself to quality local food.
Vegetarian options: Grand variété de assiettes végé avec des produits locaux. Food
Excellent service and food. Got a great introduction to the cocktail options, and both vegan and meat options we got were fantastic. Definitely highly recommended.
Great dining experience, the food was very tasty and the service was as good and welcoming as. Great vegan options on the menu, the ingredients are mostly sourced locally.
We journeyed in for brunch. So it was a taste menu. I chose to have an expresso and my guest had an Americano. Honestly, enjoyed the appetizer and my main choice was the fluffy apple pancakes. Dessert was served. Everything locally sourced with vegetarian options.
Much more than perfect experience Extraordinary and attentive staff from start to finish Well done to the whole team Exceptional food suitable for people with food intolerances Really on the mark Best restaurant in Quebec Dietary restrictions: Suitable for gluten-free and lactose-free
This is the second time Ive come. The first time about 6 months ago was a 5/5 for me but this time things have changed a lot. We took the tasting menu (6 courses) and they took 2 hours to bring us two dishes. We asked to speed up and in total the restaurant lasted 3 hours 10 minutes. Then lets talk about the food, I believe that when you pay $200 per person, everything should be excellent and unfortunately that was not the case. Out of 6 dishes I must have liked maybe 3 or 4, but even then it was not a delight. The servers are excellent, there is nothing to complain about. The bartender was rude and probably not in a great mood that evening. If you want my opinion, avoid this restaurant because the value for money is very poor, you can find better at $100 per person. Also, avoid welcoming so many people if it takes so long to serve, it ruined our evening and this bad experience cost us dearly.
The halibut, tagliatelle, white wine beurre blanc was the only dish that felt confused, the meal was amazing as well as each of its individual parts, but might be capable of being two dishes in one. The veal tataki (and its vegetarian counter part enjoyed by my partner) was a mutually agreed to be an absolute orgasmic experience. Otherwise the experience starting with the music, to the cocktail pairings, to the staffs kindness and warmth, was 5 stars!! Thank you! Vegetarian options: Amazing interpretations and worth having both versions of each plate or tasting menu option!
Delicious, surprising, pleasant,
A great discovery! Thank you for your most pleasant service, accompanied by beautiful explanations of each dish. We opted for the blind discovery menu with food and wine pairing, and everything was perfect: unique flavors and a simply exceptional dessert. A big thank you to the kitchens and all the staff for this memorable experience.
We chose this restaurant for a quiet evening with family, attracted by its chic and subdued atmosphere. Unfortunately, the arrival of a noisy group of 15 people made any conversation impossible. We had to cut our dinner short and to top it off, no commercial gesture was offered. $230 for 3 vegan plates and 1 bottle of wine. At this price, we expect much better, both in terms of comfort and service. A disappointing experience
We have been to this restaurant many times. The food is always consistently creative and delicious. We visited the restaurant last night with friends visiting from out of town. As always, the food was good and our server was knowledgeable and professional. However, there was a couple at the table behind us who were exceptionally loud, crude and behaved inappropriately. One would have thought we were at a burlesque show. At no point did anyone address the situation. In fact, the sommelier engaged with them in an equally loud manner discussing UFC fighting etc. Unbelievable!! When I mentioned at the end of the evening that it had been unpleasant the sommelier turned on me and asked why I hadn t asked to change tables. He was abrupt and insolent, placing the responsibility on me!! Another staff member came around to excuse himself after the fact but the situation was poorly handled. They should have asked the couple to lower the voice or offered them seats at the bar. This was beyond unacceptable behaviour in a restaurant. What compounded the situation was the sommelier s aggressive approach. This hopefully will lead to an internal discussion on how to handle these matters but based on our experience, we won t be back.
Bistro LOrygine was an outstanding dining experience. My husband and I opted for the tasting menu, where the chef selects each dish for you. While they accommodate food allergies or preferences, we allowed them full creative freedom, and every course was a delight. We enjoyed six courses, plus a special addition, and each item was excellent. The staff was wonderful and attentive, providing detailed descriptions of each dish that sounded like poetry. This was truly a dining experience, not just a meal. Time and price shouldnt be a concern this is a 2.5 -hour, premium experience. My husband went with the wine pairing, while I enjoyed a couple of delicious cocktails. Our service was efficient and informative throughout. If youre looking for a memorable culinary journey, Bistro LOrygine is well worth it!
Wonderfully prepared dishes of local ingredients. Staff were all excellent very attentive, friendly and enthusiastic.
Best restaurant in Quebec!!
Everything was perfect, the welcome, the service and of course the dishes being works of art and so succulent.
One of the best restaurants in Quebec in my opinion. Wow.
The food is excellent! Service outstanding! Ambient perfect! Atmosphere classy. With one sentence: This people know what they are doing. Must do if you are in Quebec city! Vegetarian options: We did the vegetarian tasting menu and it was out of this world
For those looking for something that is not your typical atmosphere and food when visiting Quebec City, this is the answer. From start to end, the cuisine, service and feel are a notch above.
The setting (the terrace) is charming and the staff attentive. However, we were extremely disappointed with the dishes. The restaurant offers dishes for vegetarians and omnivores but it is clear that these are in reality vegetarian dishes to which meat or fish is added without overall consistency and without particular flavors. The dishes are composed in a confusing manner with an excess of vegetables, seeds and other vegetable sauces. The tasting menu unfortunately does not live up to its price. Other nearby restaurants charge similar prices but with much more attractive non-vegetarian options.
Food at the highest level. Highly recommended
Coming all 5 two days ago, we loved the welcome, the atmosphere and the concept of wine or food pairing and without alcohol. Two of us being vegetarians, we would like to say that the discovery menu is sensational and for once we did not have to scrutinize the menu or deliberate or feel guilty to find a dish without meat or fish and look to complicate the work of restaurateurs...the omnivores were also delighted and yet all five of us are restaurant regulars (French most often). The flavors, the color, the presentation, the dishes...everything is perfect! Congratulations and long life to Orygine, we hope to come back the next time we go to Quebec! Vegetarian options: Fully Vegan menu and even the possibility of choosing once vegetarian and once Vegan
Very good and well balanced food Vegetarian options: They offer a vegetarian menu option
Extraordinary memory of a truly exquisite brunch (possibly the best pancakes unanimously from our table of 4 people and a baby) Exceptional service where several people took turns to serve us like kings! Looking forward to going back!
Food was good. Servers were exceptional.
Pleasantly surprised by the restaurant. The food is and the service excellent. We were given blankets when we got cold on the terrace. Vegetarian options: Vegan option on their menu
The best, best meal since our Canadian stay began 15 days ago.
did the chefs menu and it did not disappoint. great food and atmosphere. Full vegan option available. Cool speak easy bar attached. asked server
I booked for 2 the week before our visit at the beginning of May and I called about twenty minutes before we showed up, because we were going to be a little late (difficulty getting a taxi) . We ended the evening alone in the entire restaurant - the only other couple having left shortly after we arrived, but we never felt rushed to eat. On the contrary, we really had the impression of being served like celebrities. My partner is a chef in a restaurant in Mont-Tremblant and having already had the Le Légende experience twice, we were very enthusiastic about the idea of dining at LOrygine and discovering new flavors and textures thanks to the menu discovery with wine pairing. We really werent disappointed. A huge thank you to Nicholas for his impeccable service and to Sabrina, chef who was there that evening, for her magnificent edible works of art. We will remember our evening at Orygine for a long time and we will definitely be back!
Amazing place in the heart of Old Quebec. Ordered a 6 course Discovery Menu paired with wine and it was awesome. The staff is well trained, well mannered and treats you well. It gets busy real quick, so reservation is recommended.
Tasty vegan options. Certainly on the pricy side, but an exquisite experience due to the ambiance and service.
Wonderful dinner with quality, unique ingredients and assembly.
Wow!!! What an extraordinary place! We went there 3 times in 2 days because we loved the place so much! First, a little aperitif on the magnificent terrace. Excellent recommendation from the waiter who fell right into my tastes! Then, a small lunch again on the terrace. The sandwich is delicious, well stocked, crusty bread with a nice cold beer it was perfect! To finish, the total: tasting menu for dinner. The best menu, we were delighted with every dish! Explosions of flavors, discovery of products, varied textures and incomparable taste. Generous portions, impeccable service, all the servers are so friendly and professional! Very reasonable value for money! We have already paid a lot more for a lot less and above all to leave being extremely disappointed while here, it is quite the opposite, a faultless, impeccable 5 all round! We LOVED it! We will repeat the experience and recommend to everyone! Cant wait to try The Lair experience on our next visit! Vegetarian options: There are many options
During my visit to Bistro L Orygine, I was unfortunately really disappointed. It was really a blow to the heart since we had high expectations from this restaurant since it chooses local and organic products. The first thing we didnt like was our server who never paid attention to our table. He was still running towards the terrace outside without even glancing towards us. Fortunately, he had the bartender who had to take over several times. He is the only reason why I gave 20% tips since the only thing that pleased me more during the evening was the custom cocktail he made for us. He was the only person who seemed to care about our table because I asked the waiter for a wet water napkin and he never brought it. The flavors of the dishes were not up to my expectations, the flavors were not consistent and the quality of the red meat was not superb. We didnt like the halibut taco either. For $200 it was another blow to the heart since we didnt have any fun
The best of Quebec City, just go and you will tase for yourself Vegetarian options: All options can be veggie Dietary restrictions: All options based on dietary restrictions
Excellent food and service! Vegetarian options: We got their 6 course vegan menu, which was excellent! Dietary restrictions: The staff was kind to provide us with several options as we are vegetarians. Talk to them before ordering and they are bound to take care of your needs.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. We did the 6 course discovery meal with local wine pairing. The chef lets you choose your level of plant-based (i.e. vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, omnivorous). We chose pescatarian as thats primarily our choice. The wines were incredible and the food was delicious. The service was amazing and the vibes of old Quebec were one of a kind. I used to think fine dining was pretentious and silly but lorygine has entirely changed that. I look forward to my next meal with them.
We found the restaurant just walking the neighborhood, and saw the sign for organic, we researched and wanted to try. Everything I could have hoped for from decor to service and especially the food! As local as can be knowledgeable, friendly, (English thank goodness) or French. The choices Quebec wine and beer and spirits was great. If you want wine what a list for all over the world. Food was the quality far above the price!
Great vibe, good food, but expensive. They really know how to do their plant decor. Really good at accommodating vegans but weirdly declined to accommodate vegetarians so we were vegan for the night.
We were in this restaurant two days ago. The food was generally good. However, the homemade tofu was simply cut into cubes. We expected a little more here. In addition, the prices are very high for the small portions. We had to go out for something to eat afterwards because the portions were so small. Service and ambience were otherwise actually very good.
Incredible Boreal Experience. Sublime decor and sophisticated, gentle cuisine.
The menu offers the vegan option of almost every dish on the menu. Attention to detail and excellent service, you will be delighted with your visit there. Fresh and comforting foods that are prepared to perfection and in an original way.
I had heard good things about this place so I couldnt wait to go there. However other than the service there is not much remarkable at Orygine. The dishes are tiny (not just small) and very expensive. The taste nothing more. No need to go try it, you can find better elsewhere for much less money.
If the Michelin guide ever comes to Quebec City, they should take a good look here. The food here rivals other Michelin starred restaurants we ve dined at the past several years. The outdoor space is lovely, and the food/wine pairings were excellent. Definitely worth the splurge if you re looking for this type of meal in QC!
I had a reservation at LOrygine on May 18 for a dinner with my girlfriend during a getaway to Quebec. We are used to restaurants offering wine pairings, so we were excited to try this restaurant. First of all, we asked for the food & wine pairing with an oyster service as an aperitif. As I was driving, we asked if we could split the wine pairing as a couple. We were told that they could not pour two half glasses of wine, that the only solution was to drink from the same glass or to separate it ourselves into a second glass... surprising, but that was not the solution. end of the world. While we were waiting for the oysters, we were served the appetizer, the first wine, and 20-25 minutes later, the first course of the pairing. The oysters had been forgotten. To err is human, its not the end of the world... But its still a shame in a context where we had ordered only two things: oysters as an aperitif followed by the discovery menu. Normally, in a food and wine pairing, I would have expected the wine to be served to us around the same time as the food and to be explained to us what the pairing consists of... However, the wines arrived in average 15 to 20 minutes before the dishes, without anyone explaining to us what the agreement consisted of. In short, we had time to finish the wine before even having received the dishes, except for the last course where they arrived approximately at the same time... All this considering that we had to separate the wine ourselves into two glasses at each service, because it was impossible to make two half glasses. As for the food, we were slightly left with our appetite. - The appetizer was excellent, nothing to say about that. - The shrimp with puffed rice were good, but nothing more. There was a lack of flavor in the dish. - The veal tartare was good, but the quantity was ridiculously small. When we got to this service, we had been in the restaurant for around 1h30, the wait was rather long. - We enjoyed the 3 plates in the main course portion, without falling out of our chair. We finally received dessert 3 hours after our arrival, even though we were now alone in the restaurant. Special mention to the dessert wine which was particularly excellent, a great find. In summary, we expected a great culinary experience, considering the reputation of LOrygine and la Tanière. We were bitterly disappointed. For such a price, we clearly expected more. I give the ambiance a 5 star though, as the restaurant was beautiful. Reading the majority of comments, our bad experience seems to be an exception. However, it is enough to convince us not to try the other restaurants of the same chain.
Had the 6 course discovery menu with the wine pairing and non-alcoholic drink pairing. Great experience all round! Drinks were creative and matched the flair of each dish we were served. An expensive night out for us, but we thoroughly enjoyed it all and it was well worth it.
We had dinner at this restaurant on May 12, 2024. Unfortunately, the meal did not live up to our expectations. The oysters were not strong enough in terms of taste. The portion of the lamb dish was the equivalent of a starter at an astronomical price of $42. My partner had the fish dish which had lots of sauce which tasted like butter. The dessert, the nun, consisted of two balls of dough with ice cream inside which was very hard. I hesitated before writing this review but when presented with a bill of $350 for two it is important for us to write this review... We shared our comments with our waitress.
A gem! What a joy to have made this discovery. Having loved the Lair, I enjoyed my experience there just as much. We feel like kings as we are treated with such great care. The food is tasty, each dish was an explosion of the most pleasant flavors which paired perfectly with the pairing of the mocktails that we chose as an option. A real pleasure that we will treat ourselves to again considering that the menu changes with the seasons. An experience to try, especially since they adapt to all diets. My congratulations to the chef! Vegan gastronomy is certainly possible! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, pescovegetarian
What more can I say, its the best restaurant in the world, the food is splendid, I had the discovery menu with non-alcoholic wine pairing. It was the best experience. The dishes and pairings are in perfect symbiosis and offer an exceptional tasting experience! The service is impeccable and very courteous!! The menu changes every season, Im already looking forward to the next menu. Thanks to chef Sabrina Lemay for this culinary orgasm
We were very impressed with the food. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. The dishes are beautifully crafted with such special attention to the balance of flavours, textures and colours. We had the gravlax with spaghetti squash, the lamb and zaatar, the scallops and the wild boar, and the squash cannoli dessert. The service also was impeccable. We were visiting from Montreal, and will be sure to dine there again whenever we are back in Québec!
Excellent food! Impeccable service!
Impeccable service. Special attention to small details that stands out. The employees are all very courteous and demonstrate great professionalism. Exceptional food. We had the six-course discovery menu with oysters as a starter. Everything was well prepared with careful presentation. Special mention to the hot oysters with Foin de Grève and veal tartare! Beautiful cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The tables are well spaced. Our meal lasted about three hours and we were very comfortable throughout. An impeccable gastronomic experience!
Excellent tasting with a variation around snow crab in six courses. The flavors and scents do not deceive the quality of the products. The service is efficient. Soft atmosphere Only the price can make you hesitate
We went there recently for their special menu featuring crab. Everything was excellent and yet Im not really a fan of shellfish. I only gave 4 stars for the atmosphere because the previous time I was seated in a section next to a large, very noisy group. The main room is better suited for one-on-one dinners. Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian menu.
Great service. Delicious food. Prepare your taste buds, you will feast. Choose the discovery menu with 6 services and wine pairings and enjoy the trip.
This is the first high-end restaurant that I have eaten at in Canada . This restaurant is very good, and the cooking is very attentive. Their oysters are much better than those in my hometown. The environment is also very good and the service is excellent
We loved our experience. Personalized service, burst of flavors in the mouth and satisfying portions. I highly recommend !
In the top 5 in the city in all categories I would undoubtedly come back for brunch dinner and even buy products if possible it is a spot in Quebec City to be proud of
Magnificent evening with friends at LOrygine. All the dishes were sublime. The atmosphere in the main room is perfect. I recommend :)
Everything was impeccable, the welcome, the meal and the atmosphere. We have adored. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are delicious Dietary restrictions: My daughter has dietary restrictions and they adapted her menu.
Amazing dining experience!!! A1 service! Super nice and very helpful. The wine was very good. Super fun atmosphere. I advise you to take the discovery service of 6 plates which will make your mouth water. Best restaurant in my opinion. I highly recommend it!!!!
Incredible experience both in terms of taste pleasure and service
The service is just incredible, full of little touches for customers (hot towel, always full glass, little treat for the road, etc.). They specialize in Quebec products almost 100% of their menu (right down to the soap in the toilets). A treat, I recommend the Discovery menu, it s worth it. Every bite is an explosion of flavor. Never had such a good vegan option.
The discovery menu is a must. The service is truly impeccable.
Exceptional meal and fast service! We cant wait to come back
L Orygine was thoroughly impressive. From the moment I stepped in, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Now, lets talk about the food. It was nothing short of amazing! Each dish was expertly crafted with local, fresh, high-quality ingredients, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. From appetizers to desserts, every bite was a delightful journey for the taste buds. The menu was a true journey. L Orygine exceeds expectations with its top-notch service and delectable cuisine. Its definitely a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.
Im in the difficult position of being both a vegan and a foodie (as much as I hate that word). Its difficult enough finding fine vegan dining in other places and I found Québec City to be especially lacking in vegan options in general. My partner and I chose LOrygine for our early Valentines Day dinner while visiting the city because of the ambiance and the unique vegan offerings and we were NOT disappointed! We both opted for the vegan discovery menu - 6 courses, plus an amuse-bouche, each one phenomenal and totally unexpected. These people really know how to play with taste, texture, and visuals, and the quality of the ingredients (I think they said 90% of the food was locally sourced) really shone through. Everything was clearly thought out, right down to the matching of the plates to the look of the food. My favorite dish was probably the cannelloni with tempeh and maitake mushrooms, but its so hard to pick. The quality of service was great too. We had multiple servers throughout the evening, but it was coordinated instead of disorganized, and each one was lovely. They were all attentive and professional while still being very personable. My partner has some hearing loss in one ear which one of the servers caught on to and offered to speak louder for him which he really appreciated. The service was bilingual as well, although of course each server will default to French unless they realize you speak English - its a French speaking province after all! We found ourselves speaking English with some of them and French with others which we enjoyed (my partner speaks it quite fluently, and Im a learner who appreciates getting to practice my understanding without being totally alienated). The one thing I would have changed was where we were seated. Theres a smaller dining room in the back of the restaurant where the decor is not quite as refined as the main dining room and we were sat in the furthest corner of it. We actually came to appreciate the privacy of the corner but it was a little puzzling considering we had a reservation and walked by plenty of other open tables... to be fair we may have been looking a little rough and underdressed after walking around the city all day so perhaps they didnt want us to take away from the scenery in the front ;) However, there was a very large and very loud group of people sitting in the back room with us which detracted from the experience. I would have preferred being sat in the main dining area but it wasnt bad enough to sour our meal. All in all we agreed its one of the best meals either of us has had in recent memory and wed recommend it to anyone visiting the city. Id even suggest to omnivores that they try the vegan discovery menu. The chef lets the plants speak for themselves instead of trying to change them into something theyre not and I think thats something the restaurant world needs more of. I hope to come back one day and see how the menu changes! Vegetarian options: Most of the à la carte dishes have a vegan option and there is a fully vegan 6-course discovery menu available. Kid-friendliness: Not very kid-friendly... but that should be obvious just from looking at the menu. Wheelchair accessibility: Like most of Petit-Champlain and Vieux-Québec its unfortunately not very wheelchair accessible. Even if you were able to get into the restaurant itd be impossible to use the restroom as its up a few steps and none of the stalls could accommodate a wheelchair.
Sick ! Impeccable service Breathtaking food! A must-have 10/10
Wonderful food & ambience, friendly & well-informed service staff.
I can t say enough good things about this restaurant! The first time we went was for New Year s Eve in 2019 at the recommendation of our hotel s concierge, and we were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food and service. We went again this week with friends of ours (also for NYE), and once again, it was absolutely excellent. We had some dietary restrictions to deal with, but the chef was incredibly accommodating, and we had no issues getting delicious meals that met our respective needs. In spite of it being a 7 or 8-course tasting menu with various dietary restrictions, everything came out well prepared in a timely manner. The only thing that I think was better last time around was the mocktail pairing menu. In 2019 it felt like the mocktails were a little more flavorful and way less sweet, which I preferred, but other than that, everything was delicious and very creative. I highly recommend L Orygine and wouldn t hesitate to go back again! Vegetarian options: The tasting menu on NYE had an omnivore option and a vegan option. Dietary restrictions: They were extremely considerate of our dietary restrictions and adjusted the plates accordingly.
We went for brunch this Sunday, we opted for the tasting formula and we really werent disappointed. The waitresses took great care of us, the quantities were copious and the presentations of the dishes were perfect. I highly recommend this experience, we will definitely return.
Unique tasty dishes, welcoming presentation, impeccable service and judicious wine pairing Thanks to the whole team for another memorable evening! Lise Robitaille
We simply loved our experience at LOrygine. The meal was succulent, the service impeccable and the atmosphere perfect. Im dreaming of my next visit!
The discovery menu is excellent, an explosion of flavors with each dish. The portions are good and the service is very friendly and efficient. I recommend!
We had a new year dinner here. It was great to find that they had a vegan 7 course menu. First three dishes were really good and my vegan husband found them amazing. He also liked the main course. The way they prepared the root beet were really innovative. The last two meal of the course were not that great. We also ordered cocktail which we didnt like that much either. The ambience and the service was great. They really put effort to make your dinner special. Definitely try one time atleast.
One of the most accessible and affordable tasting menus we ve had. Completely relaxed and not rushed, they waited until we completely finished each glass of wine before starting the next course. Get the local wine pairing, it s incredible. The wine world is changing, local is always better these days.
Excellent ambience with wonderful vantage points no matter where you are seated. There is great care and attention to detail put into the presentation of the establilshment as well as the food served. The owner was amazing. He greeted us and seated us and took our jackets like a gentleman at the beginning which made us feel very welcome and comfortable and we had pleasant conversation with him throughout the evening. He puts a lot of care into his establishment and I am grateful for their vegetarian/vegan considerations. I felt the Béarnaise mocktail ice cube was too large for the glass which had a shot of liquid in it which felt only like a few sips. I wanted more for the cost of the beverage. The pairing of herb with the mocktail was superb. It turned out to be more cost efficient to order a glass of skin contact wine which was equally delicious. I would have liked to order the sharing price fixe however my friend had other items from the menu she wanted to sample. After we ordered, they presented us with delicious little hordourves. I ordered the Vegan Tartar and Morello Cherry, Parsnip & Mitake Mushroom Cannelloni, and sampled the Antoines Garden. For dessert I had the Black Apple & Sweet Clover (While beautifully presented, I didnt really taste the clover and felt the cake to not have much flavour at all). The food was organic, healthy and delicate. While the food was good, I feel the flavours could be tweaked and improved upon as the flavours felt average. After dinner the wait staff gave me a delicious ginger candy they were making and testing. I was quite impressed with the place aside from the minor details that can be improved. Thank you so much for making my birthday special and I will have to return for the price fixe. :)
The best vegetarian experience my husband and I have had. Great atmosphere and amazing people, recommend it to all
L Orygine provides an experience that exceeds all other restaurants. Take a chance on the mysterious 5 course meal and you will try some of the best food you ve ever eaten. There is a choice for omnivore or vegan and they both provided delectable offerings. I am a pregnant vegetarian and the chefs accommodated my meal without me even having to ask. The service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is modern, cozy, and comfortable. My photos do not do the food justice because the lighting was low (as it should be) and I didn t want to disturb other guests with a flash.
It was a little loud in the restaurant. The service was good but the food just didn t taste good. I usually don t mind spending $200 at a restaurant but the experience just wasn t worth it for me unfortunately. Presentation was nice and I can appreciate the seasonal ingredients used but it just didn t quite meet my expectations, especially when it seemed like the focus would be on the vegetables but almost every dish in the vegan tasting menu had tempeh or tofu it felt like an attempt to recreate the omnivorous menu which just feels like a cop out
Excellent all round, perfect service!!
5 vegan services Very nice experience
Fantastic experience, starting with the warm and comforting place. From the reception to our exit, a sublime, professional and personalized service. You can feel the heart and soul of each employee in the dishes, the drinks and the service. At least once in your life go there. Vegetarian options: Everything is offered in omnivorous and vegetarian formats.
We had an unforgettable evening! The vegan discovery menu was really delicious. I highly recommend it to anyone who is vegan or would like to try because you wont be disappointed!! Each course (there are 5) was accompanied by a wine perfectly chosen for it. The service was incredible. They were all smiling, warm and took the time to make sure that we needed nothing. What more can I say? Everything was perfect!!
Always an uncompromising experience at the Orygine restaurant!! Everything is carefully prepared, the most refined food and wine pairings... Always magnificent in the mouth!! An unparalleled service with a vegetarian and carnivorous menu to please everyone!! Dont hesitate, great experience!!
Excellent experience. Food and wine pairings were very good and the service was perfect. The mocktails are almost better than the wine. That said, if you have weird dietary preferences (vegan, etc) this may not be a great spot for you
One of the best restaurants Ive been to.
Incredible service, and food was fantastic. One of a kind experience that i cant recommend enough!
Impeccable and warm welcome and service. Absolutely exquisite meal!
Delicious and attentive service even though I was solo at the bar! Great wine recommendations and delicious local food!
Good food, good atmosphere
Great brunch for my party! Everything was excellent!
Very nice discovery! The place is truly incredible, the exterior and interior are really very pretty. As for the meal, we enjoyed ourselves. The staff is great, kind, welcoming and very attentive! THANKS !
Really a detour in Quebec. We used to go to Boulays when we went to Quebec, but now well go to the origin. They make excellent food; tasty, current, original and they took all our allergies into account (I am gluten-free, product-free and almost sugar-free) and they served me a completely divine meal. We will come back, for sure! Vegetarian options: They are even vegan flexitarian everything and above all very good! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, dairy free, almost sugar free.
All dishes lacked seasoning unfortunately.
Fine cuisine in a very pleasant setting
Exceptional place, incredible food and unparalleled service! I recommend the 6-course discovery menu, wine pairings are also offered. I would return without hesitation.
My new favorite restaurant
I strongly recommend taking the Discovery menu! In addition to the food which is delicious and the place which is magnificent, the service is impeccable.
A must for gastronomy in Quebec. Incredibly attentive service, extremely well-crafted menu with quality food. An exceptional experience not to be missed.
Having been to Legende a day earlier, I had very high expectation of them. The ambiance was beautiful. The service was overall was great but I could sense the rush sometimes. The dishes were good but I could sense the similarity with the dishes in their other restaurant (The lemon balm Cavatelli specifically). Overall a good experience!
We had an incredibly delicious and beautiful meal here for our anniversary. All of the food was perfect - meticulously and thoughtfully prepared and presented and the service was excellent. The pacing was also great as well, relaxed but not overly long between courses. 100% recommend this place and will return if we are ever in Quebec City again!
Rarely can I give a perfect rating to a restaurant, but its hard not to do so for Orygine. Not only for my personal experiences but, due to my work, I have regularly had to recommend restaurants to customers and for this place, the comments have always been unanimously excellent. First of all, the service is the best Ive had in any restaurant Ive been to so far. Mr. Nicholas, the manager, is awesome and very welcoming. The team is visibly passionate about their field, their work (A commodity that is too rare now) and the employees transmit this to customers. A special mention to Gabriel, if I remember his name correctly. The food is really good, while being very healthy and varied. They also offer vegetarian dishes for those adopting this lifestyle or just wanting something lighter. Like the majority of restaurants in this range, the main courses are not huge, but they offer on average 2 choices to share between two which will satisfy even the biggest appetites. Finally, the decoration and atmosphere are really pleasant and go hand in hand with the mentality and the cuisine they offer. For all these reasons I chose this restaurant for my holiday dinner with my mother this year. An important moment for us because we hadnt seen each other for months. Mr. Nicholas and his team managed to not only meet my very high expectations, but exceed them. I am still grateful to them. If what you see on the menu inspires you, you like healthy but tasty cuisine, customer service is a priority for you and you are looking for a good atmosphere but where we can also hear each other talk, I I couldnt recommend LOrygine highly enough.
Excellent! I had the vegan tasting menu and my friend had the omnivore. I added the non alcoholic tasting per course. It was very good too. Very innovative and creative dishes and drinks. Will definitely come back when I go to Quebec City.
Legendary. From the maître d to the waitress and mixologist, it was an incredible evening. I recommend you try the 6 course, the cuisine will amaze you! Already looking forward to going back!
Vegetarian options: Un 6 services végan est disponible Food
Ate here on our 1st night based on the concierge recommendation. enjoyed so much we came back for Sunday brunch before we left. Food, Service awesome
Unfortunately, we regretted our visit to LOrygine. Ive seen a couple of reviews state this, but the food really lacked seasoning. We advised the waitstaff that food was lacking seasoning and asked for salt & pepper. We were told they do not have pepper, but were brought coarse salt from the bar. The service was great, the staff is lovely and they do perform numerous checks, but we felt uncomfortable saying more considering the salt/pepper conversation. I understand that is on us, but at that point, we were in shock considering how many glowing reviews we had read in advance. I love a tasting/discovery menu and have tried them in many fine restaurants, but sadly this is not one I would recommend.
This restaurant offers you an extraordinary culinary experience with an atmosphere that meets all expectations! I recommend the 6-course blind tasting which will surprise you as much with the blend of exceptional flavors as with its presentation. A huge thank you to Elisabeth who gave us careful and very friendly service. Without forgetting William, the local mixologist who took the time to concoct little creations adapted to our tastes and preferences! It was an absolute treat, thank you to the whole team for giving us a wonderful experience.
I don t usually do tasting menus or long dining experiences, but this was a very special meal in Quebec City. We appreciated the vegan options here and the care in presentation. The service was impeccable and the courses were well-timed, neither too slow nor too fast. It was neat to see the focus of each dish on components of just a few vegetables and their presentation in different forms. Our favorite dish was the apple dessert, which included apple gel and apple foam! It was a good amount of food, unlike other tasting menus I ve tried that still left you hungry after. Definitely recommend for a special anniversary or birthday meal! Vegetarian options: Vegan tasting menu
Portion too small, servers are very pleasant but the service is slow. The dishes are OK, nothing more.
tasting dinner with exceptional wine pairing. Level 2 Michelin stars in a relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly service. Excellent sommelier. Very high level with good value for money.
very good cuisine and restaurant well located in old Quebec Restaurant ideal for discovering Quebecois terroir
Lovely cozy setting with a great menu to explore. We did the a la carte option, though the tasting menu looks fun. Extensive wine list, but there is a sommelier on site if you need help choosing. Staff were very helpful and all fluent in English. The lobster, corn, and fennel dish was a highlight.
Everything is perfect
The ambiance and vibes L Orygine are wonderful! We were excited to sit down given the chic decor and lively dining room, but were a little disappointed at what followed. Our waiter brought a vegan member of our party the wrong dish with meat in it; this was graciously followed by a free drink, but for the price of admission was a bit of a let down. Our waiter also consistently forgot to address a girl at our table when asking about more drinks, which was a bit weird. The food itself certainly was good, but not sure if it matched the price. We did not get a tasting menu, which maybe was a mistake given other reviewers seemed to quite like it. There were good flavours and nice presentations, but really did not match the same wow I ve experienced at other restaurants for the same high price point. It s possible that we had an off night at the restaurant, or are poorly equipped to judge haut cuisine , but most in our party left somewhat disappointed (and hungry; plate sizes are very small, but I guess that s expected for a meal like this). Overall it was fine, but disappointing given how much you re expected to pay for a few drinks and two plates each.
While the staff was friendly and accommodating and the overall ambiance was comfortable, the portions were too small and the food itself was bland and at times shockingly flavorless. We appreciated the opportunity to customize our dining experience with modifications, but we would not recommend this as a dining option.
Amazing vegan tasting menu. But I was even more impressed with the staff: absolutely attentive and professional, and at the same time fun and sharing a heart-felt hospitality.
Amazing! I recommend the 6-course vegan meal with wine pairing. An experience to repeat!
Whatever I say about this fine dining place would be insufficient to explain the flawless and great experience we had in July. My wife had planned this for my birthday dinner and we had the 5 course vegan discovery menu. Right from the beginning to making our appointment to being shown to our wonderful table in the patio to the explanation of each dish as it was being served (and the amazing plating), everything was taken care of to the minute detail. Julian, the staff from France, especially was very attentive and helpful to answer whatever questions we had and was pleasant throughout. Every dish though served in small quantity, was tastefully done and very flavourful in a way that we were left fully satisfied after the elaborate five course meal + starter. We have never experienced such a grand vegan dining experience that too in Quebec city. Will definitely recommend to anyone wishing to experience a vegan fine dining experience! P.S. I havent included many photos of the food and place since I want the surprise/discovery experience to be intact. But its definitely awe inspiring Vegetarian options: Vegan discovery menu is a must try!
Outstanding, exceptional, world class dining experience. The service was incredible. Food was sublime. Beautiful location and ambiance. One of the best meals I ve ever had.
Perfect gastronomy, incredible service (thanks to everyone, among others Nicholas!), magical decor, a must!
Magnificent restaurant, delicious and creative food. The service was excellent, each dish was explained to you by a different person. Everyone very friendly. I also liked the decoration, I think they could take better advantage of their location and have a terrace overlooking the San Lorenzo River. Its mixology is also very varied and sophisticated. I didnt think the prices were excessive for the quality of the food and the type of restaurant. Vegetarian options: There is a normal menu and a vegetarian menu Both were delicious.
Always so well received!!! waiter/sommelier plus a bartender to guide us in our choices of wine (around 40 pages) and our drinks The dishes are always breathtaking! The atmosphere inside/outside wow! Service so personal and attentive And the dishes are so detailed and well thought out. Bonus vegetarian option Never been disappointed and clearly my favorite restaurant
A first visit, and a discovery...from the welcome to the exit....memorable... My wife and I opted for the 6-course menu, without wine pairing. Appetizer, cold starters, an explosion of flavors and aromas, nothing but happiness, and then the hot dishes, WOW. To do again, with our best friends... thank you to the whole team and especially to the pantry.... Francyne and Serge. Parking: On the street Okay
Had the 6 course discovery meal. The food was incredible, and decent portion sizes compared to other tastings we have done elsewhere. Atmosphere and wine were great. Service was good for the most part but dessert took a little while as the place really filled up by the time we were ready to leave. Dessert was the least impressive dish. Would recommend.
Vegetarian options: Get the six course vegan prix fixe with wine pairing, it is to die for!!! Food
What a treat this was! We did the omnivore tasting menu with the oryginal wine pairing. Most of the dishes were some of the best I ve had ever at a restaurant. The eggplant tacos, halibut, and duck were favorites. Pumpkin cake with raspberries and cream was delectable!! We loved the introduction to wines from the region. The herbal mint/parsnip tea was a surprising welcome at the end of the meal. Veal crudo was a bit of a miss for us but that could be a matter of personal preference. The staff worked together to serve and they were polite and informative, but they seemed as if they had been there for a while and just seemed tired. Lovely, lovely outdoor patio set in this ancient Old Quebec building. So idyllic. From where we sat, we got a glimpse of the St Lawrence river but there were other tables that had a more direct view. I can t wait to return when we make another trip here soon!! Until then, Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Best food I have had in my life and the service exceeds expectations with leaving you never feeling forgotten.
The food was delicious, well worth the price. I wasnt a huge fan of the 2/6 non-alcoholic pairings as they were savoury, but the other 4 were perfect. Vegetarian options: For their discovery menu, there is a fully vegan menu and they have a plethora of à la carte vegan options.
Simply perfect! This was our first visit and I recommend to everyone. The food was beyond delicious, the service attentive and exceptional. Huge crush on the 6-course mystery tacos. You absolutely have to try it! Dietary restrictions: Fish and seafood (Adapted menu available)
Plate full of vegetables and I loved them all!
Simply the best service and what can I say about the food....decadent!! At the end, we were surprised by some absolutely extraordinary desserts :) And what about the water service, your glass of water will never be empty, an attention which proves that service is a priority at Bistro lorygine! Thanks for the experience
Awesome food and professional service. Might be expensive but worth every penny
My husband and I met friends for dinner at Bistro L Orygine after randomly running into each other on the streets of Quebec City. (We live in Nebraska; them in New Mexico.) We collectively decided on the discovery menu. The chef accommodated a vegetarian, pescatarian, person with shellfish allergy, and person on low FODMAP diet in an utterly delicious meal. It wasn t cheap, but it was worth every penny.
The Sunday Brunch does not disappoint!!!
Best meal my wife and I have ever had. My wife is Vegan so the fact that many of their dishes have a vegan version is huge. Someone nominate these folks for a Michelin Star. Incredible!
Are you looking for a place to have a good evening? This is the restaurant you have to go to. Local products, available and welcoming staff.
We had the multi-course tasting menu. Smart, well-executed cooking We have priced a food and wine pairing well executed but the plus is the food and alcohol pairing which is thoughtful and very worked it is a combo to really try it would be a shame to miss out the more eating at the bar you will pass a great time with the bartender
My wife and I had identified this restaurant as one we would like to visit on our trip through Canada and North East USA. We arrived in town and made our way to the old quarter but the restaurant only opens at 5pm. So we did our sightseeing which included a 15 mile round trip bike ride. We called in on our way back to the hotel to see if we could get at table later, after we d had a chance to change. The maitre d told us we could even eat now, despite our attire. So we figured why not? The evening was a great experience. The staff were really excellent. I tried a little French and they were polite and friendly. We decided on the 6 course sampler, with an emphasis on vegetarian but with some fish. What followed was a taste bud bonanza. Each plate was both beautifully presented and explained by the server, paired wonderfully with our drinks and in fact ended up being 7 courses as they chef had tried out a new dish! The servers, the manager all came over to check with us, recommend drinks etc. I had a local cider, my wife a couple of local beers. Neither of us do well with wine! The menu was thoughtful, the service was outstanding the ambience was a laid back chic vibe. If I could give this place more stars then I would. Vegetarian options: We are mostly vegetarian but we do eat fish. We had a couple of dishes with seafood, chopped scallops and char. Another that sticks out was a carrots and leaks dish, the carrots were so delicious, they d been cooked in a reduction which included balsamic vinegar but who knew carrots could taste so good.
Excellent, great, and so on!!! We are French, passing through Quebec, and we went for dinner as a couple at the L Orygine restaurant. We each took a discovery menu, with wine pairing for the gentleman and non-alcoholic pairing for the lady. This restaurant is simply great, the food is just delicious, the pairings, whether wine or non-alcoholic, are perfect, and go perfectly with the dishes (I loved the different mocktails, I didnt expect appreciate the associations as much). We watched, fascinated, as the bartender prepared the different cocktails/mocktails, a real spectacle. A great team, both professional and friendly. We highly recommend this address. Too bad we live 8000km away Thank you to the whole team for this pleasant moment, count on us to talk about you in France!!
Absolutely delicious! Impeccable service Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options! Everything was excellent
Devine! Excellent!! I can t explain how amazing the food is, a real experience. You eat art!! The staff is very knowledgeable, polite, kind and friendly. Overall, one of the best restaurants I ve been to in my life. My boyfriend and I had a great time. Yes I definitely recommend it.
Delicious, atmosphere and impeccable service (modelled on Forbes/gastronomic standards). Lunch is ridiculously cheap (4 courses, coffee included for $45, what!?) for the taste. One of the best places to brunch in Quebec. Vegetarian options: Very veg
Had the wine pairing 6 course meal and was delightfully impressed. Waited by William who was exceptionally knowledgeable while going through the courses. Co-Owner M. Veilleux, was very welcoming and made me feel comfortable as soon as I entered L Orygine. Lastly, Hats off to the chef and sommelier for an amazing experience!
Dinner at @bistroorygine was an enjoyable experience. The flavour profiles are clean and more on milder sides. Overall it was pretty good, and we got to taste local Quebec ingredients. Service was nice and friendly.
Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for Celiac/gluten-free requirements Food
Very nice high-end restaurant in Quebec. Offers vegan and non-vegan tasting menu with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink pairings. Excellent experience and great food. Vegetarian options: Vegan a-la-carte and tasting menu are available.
We went for brunch and enjoyed our amazing experience. Vegetarian meals available
Perfect experience! Exceptional service and quality local food.
Ive been sitting on this review for a few years now, pondering about its impact and effects. At first I wrote a Yelp review criticizing the restaurant for racist behavior, but then I removed the review in fears that maybe it wasnt in fact racism but instead coincidence or a misunderstanding. Ive learned a lot about the different forms and levels of racism over the years, and that leads me now to finally write this review. I dined at this restaurant on Oct 13, 2019, so it was the before-COVID times. I chose this more upscale restaurant to celebrate my wifes 40th birthday, and dined with her and our two young children. We arrived without a reservation, so we were surprised and happy to still be able to get a table with little to no wait. That short term delight soon turned into frustration and resentment however. So while we were seated almost right away, we were sat at a table in the back of the restaurant, in a clearly different section than the immediate, front dining area we walked through. This backroom was much darker and had a very different decor than the main dining area, which is to say it was the worse of the two dining areas. The restaurant was also largely empty as it was an earlier dinner for us, so that main dining area had very few guests, and virtually none in the backroom where we sat. So we continued to enjoy our evening and our meal where we were seated, and over the course of the roughly 90 minutes for our dinner, we noticed more and more guests being sat in our same backroom area. For whatever reasons, this backroom was quickly being filled with almost all Asian patrons, and certainly none were Caucasian. When I had to use the restroom towards the end of the dinner, I walked through the main dining area to get to the washrooms, and all the guests in the main area were the opposite of those in the backroom - here in the main area they were essentially all Caucasian, and almost none were minorities. Its taken me a few years to learn and understand about these racial microaggressions. As mentioned, at first I thought perhaps this was coincidental. However, intentional or not, coincidence or not, its still a form of racism, and Im saddened that I had to face this. Whether or not these Asian patrons had a reservation, by seating so many racial-minority guests into the clearly inferior backroom of the restaurant, it gives off an underlying derogatory and negative racial message. When these things happen, as a patron, what are we really to do, that wouldnt completely ruin the dinner experience for us and our guests? If I were to speak to the staff about the situation, how would that conversation go, and how uncomfortable would it have made my family? How would it have impacted our celebratory dinner? Luckily, we didnt think too much of it at the time, and were able to enjoy our dinner as a family. However upon reflection, whether it was later that evening, later that week, or several years down the road, these types of situations and actions have a marked impact on people, and these racist events shouldnt be swept under a rug and overlooked.
Very beautiful place, Exotic local menu.
Wooow! Thank you to the whole team for this magnificent evening and meal. Service, menu, cocktails, mocktails, everything exceeded our expectations. Generous portion and oh so tasty. Whether you are seated in the main room or the adjoining room, you can be sure that you will have a great time for a birthday (40th ) or a romantic evening. Thank you and see you next time!!!
So were sold on Orygin for dinner but were going to have to add brunch too!!! What a brunch!! Everything was once again excellent and plentiful! Our favorite is the peach pancakes, simply exquisite :-) everything is very good, but the menu or the veggie/vegan dishes have a little extra! Thank you for treating us so much The faithful Vegetarian options: Vegan menu available
This lovely bistro was located just around the corner from our excellent hotel (Auberge Saint Antoine) in the Old City of Quebec. Coming in from the cold we were met with such a marvelous warm staff, delicious food and a soothing atmosphere. We opted for the tasting menu. All the dishes came from the menu. It was a terrific way of sampling a wide variety. Ill warn you: it is a lot of food, so come with a full appetite if you go that direction. Stand outs are the cocktails and a lovely veal sweetbreads dish. This a place where youll want to linger ...save some time to savor it all.
We initially came just to try the cocktail menu, a bit strange as apparently this establishment does not have a bar license, and we absolutely have to eat there. On the other hand, the cocktails were delicious!
Without any hesitation, go and experience Bistro Orygine. A successful culinary experience all round with a dedicated, smiling, accessible and warm team. Stop reading reviews, go for it!
An exceptional bistro!!! The concept and decoration are well laid out and assert themselves with a certain majesty. A restaurant giving pride of place to local products and plants, with the orygine food and wine pairing, you travel throughout Canada and even a little further... The wine is excellent and extremely well suited to dishes from the discovery menu. Exceptional service and welcome, responsive, smiling, the staff knows their stuff, we feel a certain form of art through their services. As for the cuisine... tastes and colors that have been able to transport us and make us discover an organic world of rare beauty... everything is worked with care and love, from the taste of the food to the plating of the plates, a passion is only felt through passionate people... and that is the beauty of the experience... Dont read any more, live, discover this restaurant that will transport you to a wonderful destination, culinary paradise... Vegetarian options: A quality vegan menu is offered. Dietary restrictions: Adapts to all dietary restrictions
I arrived unexpectedly and even though the room was reserved for a private party, they still took the time to accommodate me. Impeccable service (Florence). The plate of Piglet and Wild Boars was so refined that I no longer thought the Rum had impressed me. The dessert was a real explosion of flavor. An experience to try!
Great time at the restaurant. Had the 5 course meal. It was worth it !!
Great meal, great service. We did the 5 course and wine pairing. I would give 5 stars but the food was sooooooo late. Our reservation was for 730 but we didnt finish our meal until 10:30pm. Otherwise a great experience
Nice and interesting dinner with my girl. But, Im still hungry after eating. Not the best for me. Sorry
We enjoyed an exquisite meal at the bar, with fabulous cocktails, made by a friendly and professional bartender. Cold, and hot, oysters and venison tartare were a highlight of the brand new menu they have introduced. The space is elegant and welcoming with sophisticated decor.
A discovery for us and we will return there, thats for sure! What a great experience, everything was there: the 5 courses, each more delicious than the other, the wines and discoveries of Quebec and Ontario wines, the friendliness of the servers. In short, everything was great! Our best experience to date in Quebec and as French, we are obviously difficult ^^. Keep it up, it was really excellent! CONGRATULATIONS to the whole team!!
We did the discovery menu ($85) with wine pairing ($69) and it was fantastic. The service was possibly the best Ive experienced at any restaurant ever (the wine may have made me a little biased). The discovery menu can be vegan or non-vegan so my partner and I diverged for what turned out to be a very fun experience. Vegetarian options: They have many vegan options.
Exceptional service, varied tasting menu with wine pairing! 2 other restaurants in the same company , we will try in the coming weeks for sure!! Vegetarian options: Yes
Without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Quebec!! It fully deserves its 4 diamonds! If you want to treat yourself, look no further! Imaginative, tasty and sophisticated cuisine. The food is prepared with care and is chosen carefully, and I appreciate that the choices are made responsibly and as locally as possible! The blind experiment will satisfy you, and its Vegan option is a must. I suggest that you take and share with your guest the 2 options: comer and omnivore. Good experience!! Dietary restrictions: Adapts the kitchen according to your restrictions
What an incredible dining experience! We took the vegan discovery menu with the alcohol-free agreement, having not drunk for over 5 years, this restaurant experience is by far one of the best I have had. And what can we say about the service, impeccable! We will definitely come back during our visits to Quebec. Thanks to the entire Orygine team!
Fantastic food. Very accommodating and kind staff.
Absolutely delicious and and unique dishes, beautiful presentation, lovely staff who seem passionate about food, and the best service we had of all the restaurants we went to during our time in Quebec. Easily one of the best meals we ve had in a long time and we will definitely be returning next time we visit Quebec!
A very good experience. The dishes were good from starter to dessert and the service was good. The setting is really nice.
Amazing service, incredible meal, best dinning experience of my year for sure! Thank you!
Great experience. Everything was perfect, the food and the service from Florence. We will definitely return. Thank you for this wonderful evening
This restaurant will surprise you with its pleasant and refined atmosphere, its delicate dishes which will transport you into gastronomic poetry. It is appreciable to taste only local ingredients in such a refined and original way and to be surprised by unexpected flavors and daring mixtures. Let yourself be surprised, you will not be disappointed. Furthermore, the equally surprising cocktails and mocktails were excellent.
Excellent !! Impeccable service Perfectly balanced cocktails Tasting menu masterfully mastered Thanks Phil for the welcome Next year we will go to the den!
Vegetarian options: There is a great vegetarian and vegan selection. The entire menu is sourced from local produce, so be prepared to experience great food paired with selected wine for each course. Food
Thank you to the whole team for the taste experience and the incredible service.
Blind tasting with wine pairing is the way to go here - absolutely fantastic atmosphere, service, food, drinks - everything an amazing evening should include. 10 out of 10 Vegetarian options: Amazing vegetarian and vegan options Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for intolerances
We had a lovely dinner at Bistro LOrygine. The menu degustation was $85 with 5 courses, delicious flavors and wonderful colors. I loved the fact that they only use boreal products in their kitchen. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, the room looks amazing and the waiters were super friendly.

Made me step out of my comfort zone. Even being picky in life, I ate everything! The service is also great, the fresh produce, the mix of flavors just perfect. Even with 5 serves, I didnt feel heavy at the end.
