We had a nice dining experience at Bistro Le Sam. Recommend booking ahead and requesting the alcove seating…the high top seats did not look comfortable. I had the smoked meat which is actually a sliced brisket sandwich. I had that and the French onion soup, both were tasty but very salty. My wife had the flank steak and said it was pretty tough, and salty as well. It’s a bit pricey being in the Chateau Frontenac but overall worthy of the 4 stars

Important to have a reservation beforehand. The service is impeccable, the interior is stunning and the views from the hotel are beautiful. For the given price point, the quality of the food was acceptable. I recommend the roasted cod and the Québec cheese board. The beef flank steak was salty and a little tough.

The Québec cheese board was well-presented and fancy but not worth the price since the olives, fruits, and the nuts weren't anything special. The roasted cod was delicious and well-presented but the portions were smaller than expected. Overall, while the food is delicious, it was a bit overpriced.

Made reservations and used their valet service. The Chateau Frontenac is a gorgeous hotel in Old Quebec. The lamb was so tender it melted in my mouth. Best ever! My friend was extremely pleased with her meal as well. We went back another day and had a cocktail. My favourite Expresso Martini

Food was good but nothing special and portions were not great for the price. There was no way my “8 oz” steak was 8 oz. Caesar salad had little to no dressing. Green salad too. Fries were aight—no flav or crisp. Cod fish was good, but very small. Too much fries in comparison.

The atmosphere and ambiance are wonderful. There's a great view over the city, especially at night. We had the ribs and salmon tartare as appetizers. Both were great. I had the seafood casserole and would order again. Lots of seafood and quite tasty. My husband ordered the fish and chips. Coming from Newfoundland and enjoying fresh cod and knowing the difference in cod that has been frozen for some time, this was well frozen cod and quite dry. The waiter couldn't tell us where it was sourced from other than it is "Atlantic", and that means it could have come from Europe! If you're a fan of cod, don't order this. It's not terrible, just not great, especially for the price. Otherwise it was a great experience and would recommend.

The location of the restaurant is excellent, making it easy to explore Old Quebec City. However, when it comes to the food, I don’t think it lives up to its price point. Given their current pricing, there’s definitely room for improvement. The service felt lackluster and not reflective of a high-end restaurant; we often had to wait a long time for our server, who didn’t seem very enthusiastic. As for the food, it was quite underwhelming. I ordered the beef short ribs, and they lacked flavor and were rather mediocre. Overall, I expected more from this dining experience.

Located within the iconic Château Frontenac, Bistro Le Sam offers a dining experience that blends local cuisine with unbeatable views of the St. Lawrence River. Our meal started with the Appetizers Tasting Board, which showcased some notable contrasts. The Quebec Beef Tartar was exceptional, with fresh ingredients and perfect seasoning. However, the Seafood Patty & 1608 Cheese fell short, with a dry texture that made it difficult to enjoy. The Baby Back Ribs, while well-cooked, were overly sweet and cloying. On a brighter note, the Cod Fish and Chips was the standout dish of the evening. The batter was light and elegant, perfectly complementing the fresh and flavorful cod. The French fries were crisp, well-seasoned, and truly excellent, elevating the dish to a higher level. I paired the meal with a Blanche Boréale beer, which unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations. Its flavor was too reminiscent of cider, which was disappointing for a wheat beer. The service was attentive and professional throughout, ensuring an overall pleasant dining experience. In terms of price, it falls into the mid-to-high range, fitting for the setting and reputation of the establishment, though some dishes could improve in execution to fully justify the cost.

Le SAM offers a stunning setting and excellent food, with dishes that arrived quickly and were delicious. Items our table ordered: Cod Fish and Chips, Roasted Cod, Goat Cheese and Spinach Puff Pie and Boston Salad with Chicken. However, the service left much to be desired. Cocktails were improperly mixed, bread arrived well after the main meals, and the waitstaff was difficult to get ahold of. It also took over 30 minutes to get the check, leaving us feeling forgotten. Despite the issues, I d consider trying them again for the food and atmosphere, hoping for an improved service experience. Vegetarian options: 3 vegetarian options plus marked appetizers and small bite options Dietary restrictions: fully marked menu and willing to work with you. Parking: Valet, restaurant will stamp to validate.

Took 90 minutes from ordering food to receiving it. Then it came cold. Fries were soggy and cold, salmon tartare was flavorless, and the steak had a fishy taste (noticed it was sharing the same grill as fish on way out). Service was absent at best - we had to ask for replacement fries. There are plenty of better local options you should be choosing from. Oh, the French onion soup was not recommended (cheese is bland)

My two stars goes only to Sherri and Michael, who were doing their best in saving the evening. Without them it s just 0. The supervisor who can t do anything in his own words was just sad ending of our evening. My guess is the hotel management doesn t empower their employees in accommodating guests and clients needs. Which is strange because what s the point of having supervisor in restaurant when he tied to do nothing. Especially when one of our company is his colleague just from another city s Fairmont. He couldn t even make staff discount, which should be a usual thing. On my question what are you doing then in case some random guest is not satisfied with food for example? Also no help or discounts or whatever? - no clear answer was followed. Being myself in hospitality for 6 years it s just ridiculous and strange to observe such i would even say snobbery towards guests. Food was okay in overall, but behaviour eclipses that. When you come to any place but especially to such places like Fairmont you expect to be welcomed.

What a beautiful restaurant nestled in The Chateau Frontenac. It was a non pretentious, warm environment with atmospheric lighting. Lots to offer with its wide selection of food, especially gluten free. They have gluten-free bread to offer before your meal with butter, which is a plus. Since this option is not so widely offered. Highly recommend.

Worst meal in Quebec with lots of delicious food It took 30 minutes to order food. Even if I told 3 or 4 people that I would order, they said they would talk to the server in charge and gave me no news. After ordering the meal in 30 minutes, I was worried that it would take another 30 minutes to order the dessert, so I ordered everything at once and had the main and dessert served together (if they were ordered together and served together, why do the appetizers and mains come out in that order?) Meanwhile, the steak came out perfectly cooked. The day before, I had a steak for the same price at the Continental in front of the hotel, but both the taste and service were heaven and earth. The worst of them is the fishy smell that comes from washing dishes, including wine and coffee cups, with a scrubber that hasnt been disinfected for a long time. When leaving, the staff in front of the restaurant were chatting with each other, so there was no one to see them off. It was a meal not worth the $1 tip. I highly recommend the $12 poutine in front of the hotel.

I ordered the scallops as my main dish. For $48 (not including tax and tips), it came with two small scallops with a half sausage together with endives and three pieces of pear confit. This plate may be acceptable as an appetizer, but not a main dish. The pear confit was too sweet and seemed to be taken out of a dessert plate very disappointing, both with the quality and the quantity

The place is magnificent. We had a table for 2 with a view directly over the river and Lévis all lit up. The tables are spaced further apart than many other restaurants giving us more privacy. The service has been excellent and the staff are very courteous. My scallop plate ($50) only had 3 scallops. They were very good but there could have been more. I was left hungry. My partners salad was rather ordinary.

We went there on the occasion of my daughter s second birthday. While the ambience is amazing, the food was just average and the service was just bad. The server was just grumpy all the time (we felt almost unwelcome there). When we asked him to change the salad we ordered to something on the kids menu, we just ended up with both. It s as if whatever we were requesting was not being heard at all. He didn t even ask if her veggies should be raw or steamed and was brought raw. You guys can do better. Please. Set within the storied walls of the Château Frontenac, SAM Bistro captures the grandeur of Quebec City s most iconic landmark. Its setting is, without question, one of the restaurant s major draws. A reservation is a must if you re hoping to snag a table on the terrace, where panoramic views of the St. Lawrence River provide a breathtaking backdrop to the meal. For those seated deeper within the restaurant, the lively, elegant ambiance remains intact, buoyed by attentive and well-trained staff who lend the experience a polished air of professionalism. But as for the food one wishes it lived up to its prestigious surroundings. The cod dish and seafood casserole were pleasant enough but lacked the spark that would elevate them to memorable dining. It was a meal that delivered, but without the flair expected in such a setting. This theme of underwhelm was most pronounced with the coffee service: while SAM offers an array of brews, all are machine-made. In a restaurant of this stature, one might expect more care in the details, particularly for something as simple, and potentially transformative, as a freshly prepared cup of coffee. Prices, predictably, trend towards the upper end, though this seems more a reflection of the château s grandeur than of the culinary artistry. SAM is undeniably a place to experience, especially for those eager to take in its sweeping views. But for food that truly matches the majesty of the setting? Perhaps elsewhere.

We took the package for the Quebec lotto fires with a group last Thursday at Bistro Sam. Beautiful menu but disappointing food from start to finish, especially the beef so cooked that it was gray. As for the Service, courteous person .but very expeditious, emptying a full bottle of wine into 4 glasses in one go .it has to be done. In short, very disappointing for our favorite hotel in Quebec and it is still Fairmount Château Frontenac. On the positive side, we should highlight the excellent valet service. However, toilet cleaning should be improved.

Bistro Le Sam is one of several restaurants. inside the Hotel Chateau Frontenac - a Quebec City landmark. I had dinner here on a Friday night. It was smart to book a table when the bistro was full - a good sign I ordered - French onion soup for starters - Flank steak for main course - Cafe Gourmand for dessert Since I had to drive back to the hotel was there no wine - only carbonated water with the meal The food tasted VERY GOOD and was nicely presented (see pictures) The waiters were cheerful and nice, but the timing was not the best; - the soup was half eaten when the bread was served - The accessories for the coffee were served first when the coffee had become lukewarm. - The bill came quickly, but accepting payment took time Mood; Several families with children arrived with children running around the room. Music was played over speakers In addition, there are (at least) 2 TVs which shows American sports & commercials. If you want to enjoy the food in quiet surroundings This is definitely NOT the right place Value for money; Food; Definitely Service; Maybe Mood; No

Fantastic food with an amazing venue. If reserving, try for the interior alcove for a river view. You can also park at the hotel where the client entry is - it was valet and free! Our waiter Gautier was fantastic - he spoke English and French and was very personable. Took a while for our drinks to come, though. Food was nicely portioned and good quality for the price. We were two adults and a teen, none of us very hungry. We split a burger that came with fries and a side salad, calamari and the starter ribs and could barely finish it. It cost roughly CAD 100. Wheelchair accessibility: The alcove is a bit tight for a chair but the interior restaurant would be fine.

We had a larger group of 11 people. The food was good but I wouldnt say it was exceptional. The biggest reason for only three stars is that the service was really slow. This is definitely fine dining and by no means were we in a rush but it was a solid 1 hour and 45 minutes before we got our entrees. Our server was very nice but some of the food runners were not as pleasant. Also, I had made the reservation through the concierge and she told me there would be fireworks on that particular evening that we could watch from the restaurant but there were no fireworks. That was not a big deal but I was surprised that the concierge had gotten this wrong.

Made a 9:00 reservation, I arrived to their bar at 8:15 for a drink. They were calling on my phone by 8:20 telling me I could come early if I wanted. I told them I was already at the bar and would come over at 9. At 8:45 before my drinks even arrived, the hostess found me and told me I needed to leave the bar now because the kitchen was closing at 9. Why do they take reservations for after the kitchen is closing? We were totally rushed. Had to bring our 60.00 drinks over to our table and quickly place an order. I had the fish and chips, the fries were totally cold and soggy, the salad had a tiny squirt of dressing. I have had better fish and chips from a truck on the street. I couldnt eat anything besides the fish. The waiter asked you didn t like it? I said no, it was bad. He didn t respond except do you want dessert I would not go back here

First experience, and it was generally good. The only disappointing thing was the service, quite messy if I could describe it, the waiter Mr Laurent, repeatedly misses things, forgets our drinks, charges us the big salad instead of the small one even though we had asked for the small one and etc. . We had a rack of lamb that was undercooked even though we had asked for better done than M-S and it was even close to rare in my opinion. We asked to cook it again. The short ribs were delicious. The Caesar salad was also the best I have ever eaten! The view is incredible and it s a great place to relax. The experience would surely have been better with a more professional server creating less of a mess around us. Finally he forgot to give us the parking ticket even though we told him that we were parking in the hotels basement. At the exit he asked for $24 Luckily he was kind and gave us the free exit. So for $200 we would have liked to have had a better service experience.

We ordered from the menu--the buffet was far too much food for all of us--and it was fantastic. We each had a different breakfast, and none of us were disappointed, at all. I ordered a side of ham and a side of sourdough toast and there was plenty of food. It beat any ham and toast Ive ever had. The coffee was fresh and hot and never-ending. And the service was superb! Disappointing at best. Apparently it s just a joint in the Chateau; I am bewildered by the great reviews. The oysters were ok, but thin and limp (unlike the ones I had the night before at Albacore - highly recommend). The Caesar salad was so overdressed there was a bowl of soup left over. The only thing that was pretty good was the beef tartare, but that only came with 2 thin toasts. I used the croutons from the Caesar to compensate. I did have a beautifully made cocktail but in general the bartender/server was distracted by everyone else. I was seated at the bar, with no view, so I was hoping for more from the food and service. At least I had a fabulous cocktail to drown my sorrows in.

It is beyond my comprehension that a restaurant in such a hotel can be so bad. The only decent part of our lunch was my glass of wine except that it was well overpriced. My wife ordered mushroom rigatoni. The pasta was so overcooked that every rigatoni was completely flattened under the weight of the very sticky and tasteless cream sauce. Although there were some mushrooms present they were basically tasteless as well. If there was indeed any of the specified parmigiano incorporated into the dish I could not tell. There certainly was no sprinkling of fresh gated cheese on top nor was any offered. I ordered a main course size salmon tartare. As the menu did not give any indication as to the seasonings of the tartare I had to ask our waiter what flavours to expect so I could properly pair a glass of wine with it. Unfortunately, I could detect none of the flavourings he described. The dish tasted pretty much like salmon with a very mild and ever so slightly citrusy mayonnaise. There was some sort of slightly spicy and boring mayonnaise like substance smeared about on the plate as well. The fries that came with it were not only cold and rubbery but looked and tasted like they had taken a second trip through the deep fryer after having sat around and become to cold for service. Fortunately for me the side green salad had a dressing just acidic enough to cut the fat from the fries and mayonnaise (s) even though it was far too sweet for my liking. A hotel with the reputation and resources of the Fairmont chain should be well and truly ashamed of itself for presenting so poorly in one of its fine dining establishments. I have had better food in extremely inexpensive pubs.

Best restaurant we ate at in the city. It was more pricey but very lovely. Portions are smaller for the entrees but very well done. They are kid friendly and even have kids menus. The 3 meat, 2 charcuterie board was fantastic! I had the short rib which was as tender as could be! Wife had the cod entree and said it wasn t as good as mine. They are gluten free friendly. Absolutely wonderful experience even if it is on the pricier side.

The food was great! I had a lovely spinach cheese puff pastry! However, service was quite slow. The first night we had Evelyn, who was so lovely. The second night, we had someone else; his service was slower. The angel cake was super small. Some portions were small. The bar doesnt mix cocktails too well, and they put way too much ice in their drinks imo. Beautiful view.

Solid experience. The service was great, food was great and we had a table in the alcove so we had a water view. I recommend the alcove seating so make your reservation early. We had the goat cheese and spinach puff pie, the mushroom rigatoni, the five cheese board, the carrot soup, and the Caesar salad. All were excellent. Vegetarian options: There are at least 2-3 vegetarian options.

I can t say enough good things about the service we received from Karen and Marie-Eve. Their professionalism and warmth added a personal touch to our afternoon, and we left feeling thoroughly satisfied. Bistro Le Sam restaurant exceeded all expectations. You do not often find a place where every element comes together so perfectly. I ve been to many similar restaurants, but this one truly stands out. The attention to detail and commitment to guest service set it apart from the rest. From the moment we arrived until we left, everything was very well handled. I appreciate the team for putting together such an unforgettable birthday surprise and experience. I want to thank Karen and Marie-Eve for going above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was perfect. Their genuine hospitality and impeccable service made all the difference. I can t thank both of them enough for their fantastic and outstanding service. They went out of their way to accommodate my requests and made me and my entire family feel very special. Karen showed me that she truly cares about the restaurant guests and she went above and beyond to make sure I left Bistro Le Sam restaurant very happy and she definitely made the difference making sure our time spend there was truly one of a kind and unforgettable. Overall, dining at this restaurant was a delight from start to finish. The delicious food, impeccable service, and charming ambiance made for a memorable experience. Thursday May 2, 2024. Our reservation made on April 27 is 6:45 p.m., 4 p.m. asks to be in the glass roof where it is indicated that there should be no problem. Unfortunately we arrive at 6:30 p.m. Having no one at reception, we move towards the Sam side. A waiter asks us to wait at reception, the hostess will come, when possible; its not busy. The young hostess, with glasses and a ponytail, looks rather severe, not smiling or friendly, no greetings, good evening... Zero. We can say that the reception site is rather poorly organized, we get mixed up, there is no real place to wait except at the bar. OH we are early and our table is not available. OK we ask to wait at the bar and come and pick us up when the table is ready. NO even says she doesnt have time to run after customers. Nice. We still opt for the bar and she tells us that its up to us to come back for the table. Since she is the one who places us at the bar it is obvious that she knows where to find us. WOW, that s happy. We come back for our table on the SAM side, direct us to a table or the lovers bench at the darkest back of the restaurant, not a glass table. The manager comes to see us, she offers us an aperitif while waiting to see what the table is like. Its the 3rd person who tells us that shes going to see about the table. Finally my friend who is the birthday girl accepts another table near the kitchen with very low chairs. Our chests are at the height of the table, we feel like Sctrumphs. Fortunately he had Laurie our waitress who did everything to make it better. Finally, before choosing the Château again, we will let the staff mature. We are 4 people aged 72 to 81 who are used to restaurants. Compare with Baton Rouge Ste-Foy where another anniversary was celebrated on April 26; its day and night = To choose take the Baton Rouge for the welcome, the brightness and also the dishes and there too there is champagne and drinks for all tastes. There too he has young staff who dont take themselves too seriously.

The service was more than perfect and the food was tasty. The restaurant managed to find us a place for 8 despite our lack of preparation. Of course, the cost was higher and the plates were less generous (but absolutely sufficient) as in any restaurant of this range, but we were surprised by the size of the childrens plates and the chosen starter (fried onions and squid) . We ate this starter with 4 people as there were so many.

Unfortunately we will never dine here again, the experience was that bad. Avoid eating here at all costs. The food selection is poor and only matched in its crapulence by how extremely rude the staff waiter was. He clearly hated serving Americans and even slammed the waters down on the table so hard that they spilled everywhere and then walked away without cleaning it up. We watched him ignore our table, not bothering to get more water after we drank the half glass that was left. The food was boring, bland, and very over priced. Very surprised such a place was in the Frontenac. The only good thing is their pastry chef.

Certainly an idyllic and touristy place for Quebec, and the establishment takes full advantage of it. Let me explain: we certainly ate well, that being said, charging $22 for a glass of wine, dear Sam Bistro, is a steal, nothing more, nothing less. Considering the wine served, this is in no way justified and I frankly hope that you will read my review and that your manager will take note of it (and there is no need to come back to me with import costs, Quebec taxes and I in passing: this-is-not-justified) This is a practice whose sole aim is to gain as much favor as possible for the customer, period). So unfortunately, and just for that reason, I will not come back to it and I will kindly move on but not without expressing my dissatisfaction. There are a thousand other pretty little places in Quebec that serve you local food that is just as good and with a glass of wine (if it happens to be the same) at a price that doesnt scream in your face that someone is going to rob you in good and due forms. Word to the wise, hello.

Hard to give more. Bistro on Saturday girlfriend and I went for a date. The server himself was impeccable and very helpful. On the other hand, we had waited almost an hour and a half for our starter: a simple plate of cold meats and cheese (quite expensive thank you, but we expected that). The problem being that some fruits were moldy!! Well lets see, at the price we pay I would have liked the few fruits on the plate to be tempting... after this decent starter, we waited almost an hour for our main course. My girlfriend did not receive the steak she wanted, which is fine. But the replacement cup was not worth the price at all. We werent talking about the filet mignon we paid for. In short, for the price, we would have done better at home. The atmosphere was perfect.

However, the quality of the gourmet cafés sweet treats was not up to par. 70 dollars before tip for whats in the photos.

Amazing French Bistro in Château Frontenac. Chose to dine here during our recent hotel stay. Without any specific plans, we managed to snag a last-minute reservation for a table in the lounge area on a Saturday night. While the lounge didnt offer a view of the river, it compensated with a cozy ambiance, complete with plush couches that added to the comfortable setting. We started off our meal with three outstanding appetizers: the Gaspesian Cake, Foie Gras Parfait, and Quebec Beef Tartare. The Quebec Beef Tartare was expertly seasoned, with a mild sweetness and a hint of mustard. The Gaspésian Cake, which I tried for the first time, was also very satisfying. It was somewhat denser than other cod cakes Ive tried, yet retained a soft and pillowy texture. But the true highlight was undoubtedly the Foie Gras Parfait. Perched atop a soft, mildly sweet pastry, the creamy parfait blended exquisitely with it. For the entrée, we opted for the Scallops and the Rack of Lamb. The scallops were beautifully complemented by the slight bitterness of braised endives, the rich sweetness of burnt pears, and the creaminess of Roquefort sauce. The inclusion of blood pudding was unconventional, but it proved to be a more interesting choice than the typical mashed potatoes. With a perfect amount of fat and a well-subdued lamb aroma, the Roasted Lamb was also amazing. The Herb Crust, although not a game-changer, contributed a pleasant crunch to each bite. We also couldn t resist getting the poutine. Elevated with pulled beef cheek toppings, the poutine was better than most poutines I ve had in the past. Although the fries themselves were average, the combination of beef, pickles, cheese, and fries were addicting. As for the cocktails, they were a tad pricier compared to other Quebec restaurants, but they were great. Overall, Le SAM Bistro went above and beyond our expectations in every aspect, from the attentive service to the exquisite food. It might lack the ambiance of a more local restaurant, but if you re looking for impeccable French food, I highly recommend giving them a try.

. For my partners birthday, I reserved a table in the glass roof for 8 p.m. because thats the suggested time for the number of people we had. Perfect. We show up there and are made to wait 10 minutes because the customers have to finish paying. 20 minutes later we are offered the foyer to wait ok here we go. We wait another 20 minutes. I dont really understand the wait but oh well. So around 9 p.m. the young girl in charge will come and take us to our table which, surprisingly, are bistro tables at the back of the restaurant. I tell him that there is an error. My reservation is in the glass roof and this was confirmed earlier during the day because we are staying at the castle. In short, I will spare the details in the end we are placed in the glass roof. We start eating, it s 10:10 p.m. I m disappointed, I don t mind paying when everything is running smoothly, but that wasn t the case here. Really disappointing dinner experience at such a luxury hotel. We were guests for one night in the Chateau and decided to have a late dinner to celebrate the start my husbands birthday weekend. The restaurant seemed short staffed, and while our server was polite, they were preoccupied with other tables and paid us little attention since we didnt order any drinks. The decor is also very beautiful with nice views of the river. However, the food does not match the ambience. We were served bread that was horribly stale and tasted as though it had been frozen before. The ceasar salad ($18) was bland and underdressed. The Chateau burger ($30) was inedible - dry, limp lettuce, and beyond overcooked, as if it had been sitting under the heat lamps for an hour. Our server tried to tell us that its because beef has to be cooked to a certain temperature in Canada (I think that they thought that we were foreigners even though were from Toronto), which simply isnt the case. They did take it off the bill, but we left hungry and disappointed with our experience.

As there was no call, we disappointedly showed up at 8:45pm and the hostess at that time Elyse, even without having mentioned of our initial request took the trouble of finding us a table by a window and the dinner (specially the seafood casserole) was scrumptious which made our evening so perfectly romantic. We ordered the French onion soup and ceasar salad for appetizers. The soup was a huge portion and very tasty, the cheese was melted to perfection and was very filling. The Caesar was great as well. For mains, we ordered the hanger stake, burger and the roasted cod with squash. The stakes were really great, it had a different taste and flavor but it was ok. The burger was extremely juicy and flavorful, it came with fries, salad and coleslaw. The roasted cod was ok, it was very soft and was served with squash and the pure, i would have liked it more if it had a bit more flavor and was served with something different other than mushy vegetables. However it tasted great. Overall a great experience and would recommend to try at least once.

Had lunch here and although the server was very kind, the food was so bad we had to send back 2 plates. The salmon tartar tasted like it had been defrosted or sitting in the fridge for a long time, it was also unseasoned and the fried rice paper cracker it was served with was stale. The burrata plate was more like a really dense, dry and flavourless mozarella which was served with not much else on the plate. Although the soup of the day was good, it was served with no evidence of effort (a big bowl with no plate underneath, no bread, no cream/olive oil/herbs or anything to make it look nice, and the spoon just straight on the table). I have been here a few times in the past and the food was decent, but this time I was really unimpressed. The waiter was really nice and the manager did come over to check on us which is good, but unfortunately the main reason one goes to the restaurant is for good food and this just wasn t it!

Server then came by to drop off food and left right away while we were mid-sentence about to ask for something more. Server then brought cheque despite us not asking for it. All this while they werent busy. Stay away.

Very nice experiences. The restaurant was full but we were able to get a seat. The restaurant is child-friendly and there is a very good childrens menu. The atmosphere is friendly and the dishes are very good. In short, I will return without problem Kid-friendliness: Childrens menu

We started our self guide walking tour of Quebec city in Château Frontenac and had our lunch at Bistro Le Sam! We made a reservation couple of hours ahead and they greeted us warmly with our table with a view! This place is beautiful with great atmosphere. Staff were super friendly and dedicated. Everything we ordered was great! Three of us are vegetarian and we had great options! I ordered onion soup (big portion, totally shareable) and Feuilleté Chèvre and they tasted awesome!

We had such a fantastic experience today! We are a difficult group to please with serious gluten, dairy AND egg allergies in our family but our server Annick took such great care of us. She made sure we had something special, delicious, and safe for us to enjoy. We were so impressed with the level of service she provided. Thanks for a memorable afternoon Annick!

Great dinner. The seafood cassorole, French dip, spinach goat cheese puff, and creme brûlée were all 5 star. The lamb dish was a bit small for 50 CAD other than that we loved the atmosphere, service and food sand the view. They even got out a ramp so my 95 year old grandpa could sit on the terrace. Well done!

I came here after seeing it on Naver blog, and the servers smiled and seemed to kindly guide me, but they discriminated against me^^ We visited at 3pm when it wasnt very crowded and asked for a window seat, but the white people who came in right behind us were shown to the window seat and we were shown to a corner seat, saying that the reservation was full. The view is good and the meal is okay. I think it would be better if you make a reservation when you come.

While this place is a ritual to observe the autumn panorama and the liners sailing, we reserved a table more than three weeks in advance and at 5:00 p.m., since there were no other choices. time, and specify on the glass side. Unfortunately, there is no way to have a table adjacent to the window, only a table on the brick wall side. Despite the aforementioned arguments, we are told that these tables are for VIP people or for those who have reserved at least one month in advance. Oh really!!! Disappointing welcome.

Bistro Le Sam is much more about the riverfront views and posh decor than the actual taste of the food. Only around half of the tables have views; you ll want a reservation to secure those. The seafood casserole was great. Everything else was middling at best. I still recommend it for the views, but if you can t get a table with a view then I don t think it s worth it.

The staff were great, seating us with no reservation on Thanksgiving Sunday, and delivering excellent service throughout dinner. Amongst our group we had the large charcuterie platter, rabbit terrine was fabulous, along with the other smoked/ cured meats not enough bread, but extra was quickly brought over once we ran out. The duck confit drum sticks were amazing, juicy and tasty. Main course Seafood Casserole was excellent and contained way more lobster than I would have expected, based on the menu description. The only dish that didn t live up to a 5 star rating was the Dark Beer glazed short rib. Decently cooked but no flavour and on the dry side. We also had pink sangria to celebrate the last warm day of summer/fall unlike some weak versions of Sangria Sam s bartenders mix it at high strength. A lovely experience, definitely worth repeating .

Our favorite restaurant in Quebec! Outstanding service and excellent food. This was our third visit and certainly not our last. The view of the river is breathtaking. I ate the beef tartare; excellent. My husband ate the smoked meat. A little delight!!

Friendly and very attentive service. My dishes were very generous and succulent (Waldorf salad and Cassolette), unlike some chosen by my friends. Some dishes are too expensive compared to the size of the portion (Scallops and blood sausage, Cod). The price of cocktails is very expensive. Parking: Don t forget to tip the valet.

Absolutely amazing resteraunt! Located inside our hotel, its reasonably priced for what you get. Expect amazing dishes. The duck wings were amazing with a great bourban glaze, and the shirt rib was so tender no knife was needed.. Truely melt on your mouth. The French soup is also stupendous and authentic. For a dinner with two expect to pay about $250 CAD for a meal, but in such a fine dining resteraunt reasably priced.

Great view of the river, attentive service, and tasty well-presented food. The servings are very generous, and all items we had were satisfactory. Overall, a good dining experience. My husband and I ordered 6 oysters, a bowl of French Onion soup, a 3-cheese plate for appetizers, and we were full before the entrées. One entrée wouldve been enough. The soup couldve been hotter, but it was tasty. The 3-cheese plate and the cheese puff with grilled veggies were my favorites. The seafood casserle was propbably overpriced. Oysters were fresh. The wines - a Barolo and a Pino noir - were also solid. Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian options!

30/100 This place is almost a waste of time. Nothing works, neither the food, nor the service, and the place is way too warm, borderline uncomfortable. Le Sam surfs on the notoriety of the Frontenac hotel, but is not on its level. However, the seafood casserole is one of the best we have ever tried So bottom line, go to Le Sam, take the seafood casserole to go, and enjoy it somewhere else

We had been waiting for years to eat at Bistro Le Sam. Although the service was great the food not so much. My wife had the Burrata which was not as described Cherry tomatoes still had stems on them and they were not candied, Cucumbers not grilled, as well as just a tasteless dish. Fish and chips was good but with childs portion of fish. All in all the food ruined it for us. The service staff could teach the kitchen staff something about professionalis. We will provide details in future blogs as we tour Canada and France.
