Restaurant flirtant avec la gastronomie où le menu et les accords ne sont révélés qu'une fois sur place.
Oct. 26, 2024 - Highly recommend this restaurant! We enjoyed the 6 course meal + with wine pairing, and each dish and wine was briefly described, adding to our appreciation of the experience. The staff was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, making the evening even more enjoyable. Would definitely return!
After a visit with family we happened across Bleu Marine on our way back from our hotel. We didn’t have reservations, were dressed VERY casually, and had two tweens with us. We then proceeded to have an incredible experience. The execution of each course was perfect. The wine pairings were excellent and fun. The staff was attentive and informative. Order the 3 or 5 course “experience” with wine pairings and let them show you what a passion for food and hospitality looks like.
We were on a one week culinary adventure to Montreal and Quebec City. Not a single meal was disappointing but the star of the week was Bleu Marine. Each dish of the six course meal was innovative and was presented flawlessly. The wine pairing was perfect and featured wines we had not had before. The service and knowledge of the staff was exceptional.
My experience at the Bleu Marine was amazing! Had the chance to meet both owners, Chef Claudine and Yann are really passionate about what they do and it shows! I was reading about the portion sizes being small but I wasnt disapointed at all. I was very interested by the menu à la carte but I went for their Experience menu with the wine pairing and I couldnt be happier with that decision. After diner, I tried their speakeasy The Neptune and had some great old fashioned on their patio to end the night. As you can see I got so many good things to say about my experience! So it’s no secret that I highly recommend that restaurant if you are in Quebec city!
Just a little backstory for context. We have not been to an upscale restaurant for years and we love tasting menus. I had researched the restaurant exhaustively and was looking forward to the mystery and excitement of the 6 course tasting menu with wine pairing. We were the first people there but they seemed surprised because they were still setting up. Good: The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. The ambiance was quaint and the eclectic and the music was nice. The food was plated perfectly and it was obvious that Chef takes pride in the appearance of her food. Bad = Everything Else Wine: The wine pairings were well extremely small servings. Although they came with a delightful explanation I am pretty sure I heard the same description given for different bottles of wines at another table. One of the bottles still had the orange price sticker on it. In my mind wine pairings should come with the food but the wine came a LONG time before the food pairing at every course. We drank a bottle and a half of water because even sipping slowly the wine would not last until the food. The wine itself was not good and at times sipping was difficult. We even ordered a cocktail midway through just to have something other than water to share. Food: The food was beautiful and their were elements that were tasty but overall the flavors did not meld well and some courses were quite bland. The chef/servers came and announced the next course. Due to the language barrier it was quite difficult to understand. It would have been nice to have a printed version of the menu and wine list in any language to refer too. There were a couple elements I would like to try again but I have no idea what they were. Then at some point they just gave up. The table that came after us and we’re being served at the same time somehow outpaced us and by dessert they were up and gone before we were even served. Service: The server apologized at one point with the excuse that everyone came in at once. With a “reservation only” business model you would think that the restaurant knew when people are coming in. The timing was bad from the beginning and excuses should not have to be made. I think what some restaurants forget is that when you are selling an “experience” you are not just serving food and wine. You should be serving amazing food and wine with perfect service. Especially if you are charging just under $500 dollars Canadian for a meal. I had been so excited for so long that when we walked out sober, hungry and disappointed I almost cried. Sadly my dream of experiencing a romantic once in a lifetime meal in one of the most beautiful cities in the world was dashed. We ended up having a nightcap of gas station wine and potato chips and the whole vibe of the trip was ruined.
An amazing experience at this restaurant! Food, service and atmosphere was 5 stars! Kudos to the chef! We had the 4 course meal and each dish was so flavourful and beautifully presented. It was an incredible dining experience.
What an amazing experience! If I could give this wonderful restaurant ten stars, I would! To begin with (the most important part in my opinion), the food was spectacular. It truly was the best dining experience I have ever had. My partner and I opted in for the six course and it was a fabulous decision. There is only one chef, and she is fantastic at her job! One of the best waiter experiences I have ever had. Our waiter was extremely well versed in french cuisine, wine, champagne, and all the other drinks this restaurant has to offer. Our waiter was very personable, and you could tell they truly love their job! The experience of this place was absolutely fabulous! I highly recommend!!
We put ourselves in the hands of the chefs and staff and had an amazing experience! My wife had the 4 course and I had the 6 course tasting menu, with wine pairings. We came away stuffed and happy. Nothing was bad. The place has a great vibe - casual and friendly, with upbeat music and stunning food. It's not at all stuffy or self-conscious. So many of the seasoning, oils and essences that they use are made from scratch. It's not inexpensive, but worth every penny.
I was recommended this restaurant, good vibe, very cool semi-basement thing. Very good and personal service. The food was ok but uneven. Among other things, I didnt understand the oyster puff pastry, no puff pastry, béchamel sauce with 3 pieces of oysters with a little cheese on top. For $27, it didnt work, and it wasnt seasoned either. And why call a puff pastry without a puff pastry. I imagine it was a mistake that the cook AND the waiter escaped, which is unacceptable in itself. Good cocktail though.
Service: The evening begins at Neptune with rather ordinary and unfriendly service from the waiter, bordering on arrogance. We felt rushed to finish our drink because the table was ready and the staff were being pushy. Once seated at the restaurant no offer for consumption before the arrival of the dishes. Staff insisting on taking the large menu in order to make things easier in the kitchen . Ambiance: No atmosphere, absent decor with very old furniture (table, chair, bench) and also low-end cutlery. Toilets to be completely redone! Cuisine: Only good point of the evening! The dishes are good and correct but nothing to envy of other offerings in Quebec City for this price range. I wont go back!!
A place to discover with the wine and meal pairing. We will go back. Thank you
We tried this restaurant and opted for the 5-course tasting menu, the Grand Menu. A real disaster from start to finish. The dishes were poorly executed. One course offered Wagyu beef: a single thin, warm slice on the plate, accompanied by strips of raw apple (?). Another service offered couscous carbonara, but the sauce was very watery (the opposite of a carbonara) and lacked flavor. The couscous was way overcooked. Dessert, meanwhile, included a type of miso ice cream that was way too salty. Overall, no consistency between the dishes, without any guidelines. In addition, all the services were in brown or beige tones: no color, no lightness. The dishes were heavy and unappealing. Very bland The waiter, who was also the owner, seemed uncomfortable explaining the dishes and called the wine grape juice. And the worst? An addition of $230 per person, taxes and service included, without alcohol. To avoid.
Excellent service and food, high end. Relax environment.
Definitely flawless! The team is welcoming and shares their passion with us. The food is extraordinary and the wine pairings are sublime! A great discovery which is now in my favorite address book for our beautiful national capital!
Amazing the chef was super nice we had the 3 corse experience and the food was amazing and our waiter was very nice
4 blind courses, delicious! Good quality food and very good service!
Wonderful dining experience!
A great culinary discovery! To try!
Went to Bleu Marine last night. The food was just okay - nothing special, small portions nothing awful. Service? Same deal. The waiters did their job, but dont expect to feel pampered. For what theyre charging, especially their wines I expected way more. There are definitely better spots in town where your money will go further. Bottom line: Its not terrible, but its not great either but it s sure freakin expensive for what is. I would recommend saving your cash for somewhere thatll actually impress you.
Bleu marine is the hidden terrace of old Quebec. Chef Claudine is very good at creating meals around wine, its different and the pairings are always wonderful. The sommelier is one of the best in Quebec City. It still offers a taste experience. I highly recommend the deal. The staff is very accommodating.
Without a doubt a hidden gem in old Quebec. You absolutely must try this epicurean experience.
Too expensive for the whole, food, service and atmosphere. Type of cuisine that can be done at home, limited menu choice, the emphasis is much more on the wines than on the food. As for the service, the waiter/owner doesnt have an easy smile, his partner and the young clerk are more friendly and we only saw them for three to five minutes each, smiling and less stuck. For the mismatched utensils, we will iron, plus, my spoon was rusty. Finally, the music was way too loud and the styles...... phew! excessively assorted, so varied that it was spoiled and offensive. Unfortunately, it wasnt the experience we had hoped for, too bad!
A flawless experience. Thank you for this absolutely extraordinary evening. From the service to the pairings, including the imaginative, delicate and tasty cuisine of the chef-owner. Everything is there to spend a most pleasant evening. The dishes are refined and the prices are fair for the quality and the work done on the plate. A magnificent hidden terrace awaits you at the back of the restaurant as well as an absolutely charming little cocktail bar. I recommend this hidden treasure in the heart of Old Quebec. Long live Bleu Marine
One of the mains and appetizers I ordered were good. The risotto however was good if bland is your thing, super skimpy on mushrooms which appear to have been added after, supplemental scallops was actually one scallop. Their service was very slow and then an apology which I get the impression is actually their MO. They were not busy so I simply don t buy it. You can do better in Old Quebec City.
Fantastic meal. The scallops were prepared perfectly. The ceviche was out of this world. The cocktails were delicious. Terrific experience all around. Highly recommended!
Just popped in for a cocktail before dinner elsewhere; cocktails were lovely! I also overheard the server presenting a dish with a stuffed morel mushroom in it and although I didn t eat here, I vowed to return.
Great ambiance and exceptionally great service. I would certainly come back here, A hidden gem
Service was amazing. Yann took care of us from beginning to end with a smile on his face throughout our experience. The chef prepared our meals with perfection, must eat the beef and halibut. Both were exquisite. A must try in Quebec!
For my third visit: the food is just as original and excellent and the wine is sophisticated and adds a dimension to the dish. The waiter explained the food and drinks in detail to us while remaining warm and super approachable. The atmosphere is relaxed, perfect for a romantic meal or between friends. I love being taken care of at the restaurant and I felt in very good hands. A little treasure to discover in Quebec! Thank you Yan and Claudine!
Absolutely worth discovering!!!
Excellent dining experience. If you like gourmet restaurants, this restaurant is for you.
Attentive service for a long evening savoring superb wine and food pairings.
Excellent services. All our dishes were fine and tasty. Great discovery! Thank you both!
We had a great evening. The food was excellent, great atmosphere and our server was great!
A great experience. What makes Bleu Marine unique is the daring concept where the chef chooses the menu for the evening, transforming each plate into an exquisite gastronomic surprise. Unexpected and surprising flavors and associations. We were 3 couples and all took the 6 courses with food & wine pairing. Each wine presented with the dishes was incredible and elevated the dining experience to another level. One of the people in the group didnt eat seafood and the kitchen team adapted it beautifully for her, offering equally stunning and delicious alternatives. The service matched the quality of the dishes. The chef or sommelier explained to us what we had in front of us with contagious passion and pride. We all loved it and would definitely return.
Fantastic 6 course meal (chef s choice), my wife did the wine pairing which was presented very well, excellent knowledge and explanation for each wine. Food was fantastic and covered a lot of ground, a new favorite in QC!
We enjoyed a wonderful six course dinner. Each dish was well thought out, inventive and elegant. The owner was so attentive and took pride in his work. The Bleu Marine epitomizes the exciting cuisine that makes Quebec City so special. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: They accommodate any dietary restrictions upon request.
If there were more stars, I would give more! We were a group of 6, received like kings! It s an evening we will remember! Surprise menu of 6 plates, very easily accommodating the 2 vegetarians that we were, without taking away from the exceptional taste and presentation of each plate. Everything is thought out, delicate and extremely tasty. An unexpected culinary experience! All in a very nice atmosphere with impeccable service! We will come back, we promise!
Unprecedented dining experience We asked to arrive late and we were treated like royalty by a proprietor and chef who clearly enjoy their passion of fine dining....I cant thank the staff enough for the best meal of my life Please dont hesitate to have a fantastic meal at Bleu Marine. We come annually to Quebec and this experience was just amazing.
I found it a bit expensive, not good value for money
Excellent gastronomic experience Exceptional service
excellent experience
Exceptional food, really nothing to say. Very sought-after starter, main course and dessert and the taste is exceptional with surprising flavors. The bill is so low because the price is just crazy ($80 without tax and tip, so $105 after) and we were half-smoked. We are talking to you about a 4 course (already $80 for a 4 course is expensive) when it is clearly a 3 course + 1 salmon blini which is the size of a 2 dollar coin. The 4 service is the only possible option otherwise it s 6 services and it s even more expensive!!! The waiter himself called his salmon blini which counts as service like a mouthful! So if I summarize it s $100 for an exceptional starter/main course/dessert. So $200 for 2 without drinks it s just the worst quality/price ratio I ve had in Quebec. And I must have visited +15 restaurants of this type in Quebec (legende, clan, laurie et Raphaël, saint amour, bedeau, Boulay etc .) Conclusion: excellent but way too expensive. Too bad because HUGE cooking potential.
My family and I came to visit Quebec and Bleu Marine was the first restaurant that we had for our first night here, and the experience truly lived up to the great reviews that I had read online before I d made the reservation. The fixed 7 course holiday menu with the wine tasting was not just a unique experience in itself, but the dishes produced and the reasoning for the wines accompanying them made for one of the most delightfully unique dinner experiences we d ever had. Not to mention the phenomenal service and hospitality provided, and accommodations for one person in our party who wasn t a fan of seafood, I could not recommend this restaurant more highly for the quality and thoughtfulness put into their restaurant!
The service is particularly slow, 3h30 for a 7 course where the dishes take less than two minutes to taste. Maybe there was a problem in the kitchen? The small glasses of wine are served 10-15 minutes before the next course so it happens on several occasions that we have run out of wine when the dishes arrive. The portions are limited, after 7 courses and more than $500, we stopped elsewhere after the meal. Unfortunately this restaurant (and for the price) does not compare to other good restaurants that we have visited (Mousso, Hoogan et Beaufort, Perles et Paddock, Le Flamant, etc.)
Reservation for 6 at 6:30 a.m. we were served at 8:55 p.m., first course spaghetti squash. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt good either. Main course duck breast served uncooked and cold. Out of 6 guests, none liked it. We had a bottle of Champagne, it was served to us in wine glasses. We asked for champagne flutes, we are still waiting, we wanted to order another bottle\We are still waiting.
95 cad dollars for 6 courses, outside there is a sample menu with 5 courses with one for dessert and dessert. I then assume that the first dish is a snack (amuse bouche). But apparently when one eats there there is indeed a snack (amuse bouche) then 3 (starter) dishes, followed by what they call a waiting plate, and then a dessert. And thats it, a shot glass with a panna cotta with onion is a course. It is also clearly brought to the table as an amuse bouche, not as a first course. If they had said that, I would have responded immediately. The pre-dessert is then a waiting plate. In the end I leave the table as if it were a four course menu, with a plate of cheese on offer?? Never again, an amuse bouche is not a course. It could be if there are several snacks beforehand. But not 1 measly shot glass with reduced cream, gelatin and onion? I really feel cheated and dissatisfied, this is a shame!
AMAZING!!! Everything we had, which we took the 6 course meal was excellent, this is a must try to have a wonderful experience!!! Thank you for making our night in Quebec a memorable one!
An exquisite experience with a surprise 4 course or 6 course menu, chefs choice.
Very nice experience lived
We loved it. Excellent food, special mention to the carrot dish!! I highly recommend the wine pairing, it was sublime. Warm, professional and unpretentious service. Beautiful cozy atmosphere. Take note to allow time as the experience lasts a few hours!!
Everythings Super yammy!
Unbelievable overall experience- wine and cocktails paired perfectly to food and presentation was exceptional! Highly recommend.
Exceptional food and wine pairings. Our evening did get off to a slow start, but the food and wine was well worth waiting for. We had the four course menu and we will be back for the six course menu. Exceptional
Its good but its no use asking us what we dont like and finally serving it to us while knowing that what we like was served at the next table, under the pretext that its a discovery menu... Disappointing at this price! We will not recommend this place!
Warm atmosphere. Superb impeccable service! The wine and gastronomy pairing is simply magical. The dishes are haute cuisine. Its art! Its definitely expensive, but its worth the investment. Its an experience to live!
What an experience! The chef introduced us to a fish menu which was bursting with flavor. My taste buds had a great evening. The discovery menu changes regularly so dont hesitate to return often. You will live a whole new experience. A big thank you to our server who offered us a perfect food and wine pairing. He took our preferences into account and exceeded them. Thank you for this perfect evening
Exhilarating experience. A food and wine pairing made and presented by enthusiasts. When you pass by the restaurant the next day to take a photo as a memorable souvenir and you meet customers who are doing the same thing... it speaks.
good food very small quantity for men I dont think they are full small portions 6 courses 2 are an expensive dessert for the quantity
The restaurants strategy of pairing the food to the wine attracted us. Unfortunately, while the wine was excellent, the food seemed like an afterthought by a group of somms whose culinary skills dont measure up to their wine skills. The first course was a microscopic crab creation - less than a bite. 2nd course was a potato au gratin thing. 3rd course was terrible - pasta w/ breaded veal. It was dry and lacked flavor. We were mystified and came to the conclusion that the restaurant must have lost their chef and were trying to get by.
What a discovery!!!! - A restaurant with an original concept: a blind menu that adapts to your preferences and restrictions - a kitchen that is just to die for - a passionate, exciting and warm team. I totally recommend it and I will return there on my next visit to Quebec. Thank you for such a pleasant and enriching moment!
Awesome
Excellent request rest
This is a difficult review to write. Bleu Marine wasnt bad, the food and wine pairings were very interesting. But it was definitely overpriced for what it offered. The food tries to be Michelin style, but isnt and probably shouldnt try so hard. The supposed six courses were only really four and a half courses, wines only matched with five dishes. The decor and overall appearance were pretty unimpressive. The wine pairings were good and the commentary passionate, but none of this made up for the fact that you can go around the corner to Le Clan and get a much better tasting menu at the same pricepoint, (wine pairings cost more at Le Clan) and have a meal experience which is very much better than this. Glad I tried Bleu Marine, but I would not recommend it to others.
Had a fantastic trip to Bleu Marine. Excellent food, and would recommend the wine pairings (we shared a wine pairing). The waiter was very personable and friendly and made us feel very at home. It s a really great way to eat, to trust the chef to deliver their flavours in their style. The pork belly was exquisite and one of the best mains I ve had. Brilliant combination of flavours. Whilst not inexpensive, worth it!
The food is definitely top shelf, the chef really knows what she s doing! The atmosphere could use some work, great place, wish the lighting was dimmer, small things like the plants could use some trimming of the dead leaves, the foam between the stone and drywall should be cut flat. The service was good, very knowledgeable servers and explained the wine pairings very well, we did wish they were a little more attentive with filling water, making sure all the cutlery, serviettes and other things were replaced after each course, and ensuring the plates come out a little quicker, it felt like 30 minutes between each course but the atmosphere might help with that. All in all we are happy we ate here, and we really hope they review this feedback.
Celebrating our honeymoon, we chose Bleu Marine for our last night in the Old City. We loved the idea of releasing our inhibitions and allowing the chef to choose our 6 courses. Each course was the appropriate size and we loved that we could linger over a wonderful bottle of excellent wine and continue our conversation. The pairing with the wine we chose was amazing. Textures and tastes - exquisite! Many thanks to Chef Claudine for her talent and creativity and to our server Matthieu for his deep knowledge of wines and descriptions of the dishes. We will return. Best wishes!
A unique gastronomic experience not to be missed
Fantastic place!!!! Would recommend to all!
Absolutely the best and most unique food I have ever had. We felt the staff could do no better and we greatly appreciate how passionate they seemed. The food and pairings are so special that we will talk about Blue Marine for decades. The visit will likely define our experience in Quebec. Thank you Chef.
We booked this restaurant for my party today. 10/10! Thank you very much for the dishes and food/wine pairings. We will definitely come back.
I personally loved everything I ate and the wine paring was impeccable. The food was fancy but the price was a little high for the size of the portions. The service was great, the restaurant was discreet and cute.
Excellent little restaurant with a tasting formula and fantastic dishes. The wine pairings are perfect.
The restaurant is not cheap but all the dishes were very nice surprises. The combination of flavors was really excellent! Attentive waiter and very good quality wines. I recommend !
Perfect food and service! We were at the bar and were able to chat with our server/bartender. We took the 6 courses with pairings: faultless (all the wines were excellent, a rare thing in Quebec)! The owners came to greet us at the end of the meal, very appreciated, friendly and intimate atmosphere. 10/10, we will go back! Thank you so much!
A place to discover
Excellent restaurant but expect to pay. Blind menu revealed on site, very good but I have a mixed opinion for the price paid. Hardly any protein, lots of vegetables. The prices are very high I find for the 4 course in effect at the time of our visit, a single shrimp and a 2 x 2 of pork belly in protein, all the rest in vegetables on 4 courses for $80, its a lot to pay even for French gastronomy. In autumn, however, the featured products were limited, mainly root vegetables. The pork belly was simply delicious, the rest was also divine, our men remained hungry however. Refined dishes, beautiful presentation, excellent and courteous service. Beautiful privately imported wine cellar. Super friendly and professional staff.
Impressive gastronomic experience, attention to presentation. I had a reservation about the chefs choice for the main course. I think the menu changes regularly.
The food is good and well matched with the different wines offered which are also good. The products used are from here and sometimes even very nice discoveries. The staff is pleasant and very accommodating of different tastes and dietary restrictions. However, we were very disappointed with the portions offered which were not very generous. For two glasses of wine, a 6 course + 4 course we had a total bill of $250 taxes included. We had to stop at a fast food place on the way back in order to go home on a full stomach... Some services are literally one bite. The atmosphere is subdued and decent, however despite the fact that it was only -1 degree Celsius outside, several guests ate with their coats on due to the insufficient heating. Conclusion, for an equivalent price, it is possible to obtain a greater quantity of food and of better quality.
We had a perfect evening in every way. The chef-owner offers us an unparalleled culinary experience built around sublimely selected wines. All dishes are perfectly matched to the wines and are served in a warm and intimate atmosphere. The service is also impeccable and so are the cocktails. It was a flawless journey, from aperitif to desserts.
Last night was the second time we went to Bleu Marine. The experience continues to surpass itself. The concept of the blind menu charmed us! Our preferences were taken into account, a much appreciated attention. Each service is built around the wine offered. We were served by a professional, attentive and passionate team. The detailed presentation of each wine and each service allowed us to appreciate all the subtleties. To discover!!
Amazing food and wine selection. Very passionate staff, this is the best restaurant in Québec city by far.
The most wonderful dining experience of my life!!!!! Incredible service and original and refined cuisine all in subtlety!!!! To be resumed soon for sure!
Great owners who care about the customer experience and want to create emotions! Beautiful little place that will become incredible once the terrace opens!
No menu. Service available on a daily basis. Weird concept!
Delightful experience. Owners are passionate about food and wine and love to share this passion with their guests. They start with selection of quality wine and then create the food to pair perfectly with the wine. we enjoyed the 5 course meal which was $80.00 adding in exquisite french Champagne wine upgrades and cognac brought our bill to just over $300, for the two of us. Overall great value for a special culinary experience.
Amazing food and service. A truly one-of-a-kind dining experience that is definitely worth the detour, plus an absolutely wonderful wine list. You will love it!
Loved the place. Great food!
Very warm, thanks to Claudine for the warm welcome and the excellent service Excellent choice for the Discovery Menu We look forward to seeing you again on the terrace this summer Carole and Gerald
Beautiful evening! Perfect food/wine pairings! The dishes are small but well balanced, the 5 courses are still satisfying and the discoveries are original the elk was delicate and melted in the mouth what lovely surprises!
A great experience in the end! however, it is not indicated on the site that wines are not included in the price! So plan on maybe a good $50 more per person!!!
trust us they said. We did. Each course was excellent
Excellent place to live a new experience in good eating and drinking, where its hosts take us by the hand to explore new flavors, of course if you think about finding a place where they serve you enough, it is not here
WOW! What a great discovery in Quebec! Refined dishes with top quality ingredients. The service is perfect. Great advice and wine suggestions. The agreement is sublime. I even made up with certain critters (lobster). Its worth it. The owner is super accommodating and always listens to our preferences. Just WOW!!!
This restaurant creates trancendant, emotional food. Both the chef and the owner are sommeliers, and have designed their menu around wines and spirits, unlike most restaurants that find wines to pair with the food. These pairings reach unimaginable synchronicity, drawing on unique wines from all over the world, served with complex and soulful food, that left me shaking my head in disbelief, and truthfully, tears in my eyes. This was one of the most incredible and moving culinary experiences Ive ever had. If youre ever in Quebec City and youre searching for a food experience, look no further than Bleu Marine. Words and pictures just do not do it justice.
An open ended experience with elevated cuisine and unique wine pairings. Sylvain our host was natural and hospitable, adding just right amount of humour and expert wine tasting notes. Claudines food was fresh, seasonal and superbly balanced. A treasure in the heart of Old Quebec.
Very nice brunch items. Foods are delicious.
We had a phenomenal experience at Bleu Marine. The team took good care of us and curated a great culinary experience. The pairings of drink and plates were superb. Easily the highlight of our trip to Quebec.
Very good lunch
Amassing restaurant! Very delicious breakfast and good service! Love it!
Really nice terrace. Food is tasty and leaves you satisfied wanting to come back to try more options!
Consistent amazing quality. Very unpretentious fine dining hidden in the heart of old Quebec. Interesting wine pairings and tasty tasty food. Do not miss this one
Careful food and service. We will definitely come back.
Delicious and discovery of new alcohol :)
Wonderful dining experience, not just great food, a truly wonderful experience!!! We dont drink white wines , and the 5 course pairings were exquisite! They truly opened our minds to beautiful white wines.
A truly special experience for those who value the pairing of food with wine. A diverse array of flavors, based on locally sourced ingredients that always lands as a both a surprise and a delight. Impeccable service absolutely raises the experience to something I will remember fondly any time I think of Vieux Quebec. Commendations to the entire crew, from top to bottom!
100% recommended! Great service, the food is super good and it seems that the chefs are passionate. Everything was good and the food and wine pairing was EXCELLENT.
Great food and atmosphere. The restaurant just needs to be a bit more transparent on wine pairing pricing. The bill was a bit of a surprise.
The wine and food pairings were really fun. We had the 3 course meal and it definitely felt like enough food.
Amazing restaurant! Loved their unique tasting menu (each dish is a surprise when it comes out!) and they did an amazing job with wine pairings. Pre-dinner cocktails were amazing. The food was fabulous. We got in to Quebec City late and didn t have any dinner reservations but the staff was able to accommodate us. It was amazing because it was our anniversary, and I can t think of a better anniversary dinner. The pace of dishes was relaxed. We never felt rushed to finish one because the next one was coming out. We got to savor our food and wine with each dish at a leisurely pace. Even though the staff was super busy and covering multiple jobs, they never seemed rushed when at the table and did a wonderful job explaining the food and wines. It was so good, we went back the next night. They were able to change out some of the dishes so we didn t have too many repeats but honestly, everything was SO good that we wouldn t have cared. They also paired different wines for us the second night. It was absolutely amazing. SO worth it! We d honestly come back to Quebec City just to be able to eat here again.
Spectacular menu, wonderful wine pairings, attentive, knowledgeable and delightful staff, and lovely, intimate ambiance. Highly recommend!
If you re not afraid to try something new, I would definitely recommend Bleu Marine! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon the restaurant during a weekend trip with no plans. I can confidently say it was my favorite part of the of the weekend! My boyfriend and I are pretty adventurous with food, so the idea of the chef choosing a surprise three course meal sounded super fun. We purchased the wine package as well, which was definitely worth it for us because we never would have tried the wines they served, but the wines were lovely and really complimented the meal. The service was amazing the owner is clearly very passionate about the restaurant, and for good reason because the food was incredible and was a great value for money. I loved that they use fresh ingredients each week from the farmer s market to craft season-specific dishes that are complex and innovative. We ll be back next time we visit Quebec City!
Had a fabulous dinner here and did the drink pairing which was so fun and delicious! This is a place you go for a 2.5 hour dinner and just enjoy every bite and sip with loved ones. There is so much love and thought behind each dish and drink and the service was impeccable. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion or if you really appreciate great food and wine!
My husband and I absolutely loved our experience. Food was delicious (especially the dessert) and the wine pairing was PERFECT! Honestly, not one missed step! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and you can tell they care. We had a great time and look forward to visiting again!
Really nice wine pairings, be sure not to miss it. Food is great, servers are nice.
I went last minute with my kids. First time they experienced 5 open course experience. They loved it. thank you.
This restaurant doesn t serve food, rather the Blue Marine serves an experience. Everything is perfection - the romantic ambiance, the food that is expressed beautifully on each plate, the professional and knowledgeable servers, drinks par excellence, and the amitié between the restaurant owners and customers. Special thanks to our server - Matthew, you made our night wonderful
Everything was delicious but the wine pours were small as were tge portions
Somewhat expensive if only looking to eat, but experience is worth it. Food was exquisite with well complemented wines. Dinner served over 1h+, definitely no rushing, good atmosphere if you look to share time together...
We came to Quebec City for a 4 day trip, and this was the worst restaurant experience we had the whole time. We arrived minutes after they opened and were some of the first people to arrive, and it took 4 hours for them to finish getting us the 5 course menu. Every 10 or 15 minutes we would be brought a new napkin or piece of cutlery or something to give the illusion that progress was being made; the wine pairings would come about half an hour before the food itself so they didnt really feel like pairings at all, although if you can ignore the drink in front of you for long enough you will find that the pairings work pretty well. 3 and a half hours into the service, we finally got the drink pairing for the dessert round, and I realized wed been watching those final round drinks going out for at least an hour or so before ours had arrived, despite us being some of the first people in the door. By the time we finally left after about four hours, we were still hungry due to it being so little food over such a long time (very small portions), and we ended up getting nachos at a bar down the street, which we agreed was a better experience overall. I dont recommend this place, especially if you have any limitations either on time or money.
Creative, fantastic meal experience. Expensive- but- you are getting an experience - not just dinner & wine. But, do understand, that on a Saturday night, the meal took 4 hours for 5 courses. This was perfect for our group of friends to sit, enjoy and talk. But probably not somewhere to take a first date
Creative dishes and amazing wine pairing!
What a great idea to choose wine for pleasure and then develop a quality menu around these beautiful bottles!!! It was a 5 course meal, with agreement, perfect from start to finish. 12/10 for the wine choices. Our top one!! The welcome at the salon was worthy of mention, the kindness of the staff was impeccable and the atmosphere warm, cozy and friendly. A must have for us now.
But what a great culinary experience we had at Bleu Marine. The food is original, funky, and the food and wine pairings are perfectly matched. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend x 1000. Well done to the team!
Great food, great service and great atmosphere! Friendly waiters and very good advice
I adore
Fantastic meal on the palate, delicious wine. The only little problem, the owner of the restaurant only spoke to the person he thought was going to pay, he didnt once look me in the eyes, if I was absent I wouldnt have expected it. for the presentation of the meal and only made my partner taste the wine. As for the other server, however, excellent!
Excellent service, A+++. well-balanced, tasty and fresh dishes. Beautiful layout of the wine list. Try again!
Great service! We had a great time, the food was of great quality. I highly recommend.
We had a memorable meal here in Wednesday. The whole experience was impeccable- service, wine pairings, and the food! We had a 3 plate tasting menu, and on each plate the work was outstanding. Cant wait to come back to Quebec City to return here.
They prepare beautiful dishes like great chefs, but they are not.
The whole family loved this restaurant, superb menu and excellent service. We will come back!
Great taste experience! Very friendly staff.
Just Wow! Superb dining experience. Delicious. Fantastic, friendly service. Sublime food and wine pairings. I recommend without hesitation.
Friendship, love, impeccable service, choice of wines and dishes! A real princess evening! Only problem... If the next few days are the start of vaccination proof... Can you at least free the staff from masks. My only discomfort, seeing the superb waiters and kitchen staff have beads of sweat without seeing their magnificent smile. I hope this QR code will free them from the mask they are no more radioactive than anyone else there... Please let them breathe. Thank you, you have all my respect for your talent and your passion!
Nice cozy, romantic atmosphere. The staff are knowledgeable and approachable. You can reserve via Google Tables. COVID 19 safety protocols in effect.
Interesting dining experience. Food is good. It is however quite pricy be aware. You will have a good evening.
Unique experience, with a menu adapted to our tastes and impeccable service, I will come back with other friends for sure!
Very attentive service throughout the evening; presentation of wines at an entirely higher level. We ate extremely well. THANKS !
Small, intimate and thoughtful. The food is somewhere between fine cuisine and haute cuisine. The establishment is managed by a trio of sommeliers who offer an extraordinary and original food and wine pairing. Attentive service and reasonable price for the restaurant category. I recommend you take the tasting menu and let them surprise you.
We had an 8pm reservation and were informed upon arrival that the system had had a computer bug and had overbooked the restaurant so the table was not ready. So we went to wait at the bar and got our table at 9pm. We were offered a drink to compensate for this inconvenience. Once at the table, we are informed that it is a blind tasting menu and that we must choose between 3 courses and 5 courses. We chose the 5 course at $75 thinking that the services would be inspired by the menu we had seen online (scallops, lobster, octopus and other seafood products). Here is what we received for the sum of $75 each: 1st course: a beet cut in half with a few pieces of Swiss chard, 2nd course: A melon proscuitto (2 mini mrcx equivalent to 1/8 slice of proscuitto ), 3rd course: a tiny piece of overcooked trout with a tiny piece of blood sausage (which was delicious), 4th course (main course): A CABBAGE CIGAR!!!!! ... nothing else to add... a cabbage cigar in a 5-course table dHôte for $75 then to finish, a pear dessert that I would describe as decent. Oh and a sweet treat the size of a drop of caramel. In short, no food wanted except for the small piece of blood sausage and a very bitter taste from our experience. We left hungry and $250 less. We asked the owner why the online menu did not in any way reflect the services received and he said he had not had time to update his page....and inform people that he This was a blind tasting. We also mentioned all the comments above and only received one: Thank you for your comments... Too bad because the wine selection was impeccable.
Miaw
To anyone looking to try truly inspired food and beverage with pairings, with beautiful ingredients look no further than Bleu Marine . Small plates but amazing dishes. You ll have to trust the chef but they do no not disappoint. If I could give a 6/5 stars I would. Gem of Quebec City and walking distance from my B&B.
It was a perfect evening. The food/wine pairings were superb. We loved absolutely everything. Thank you for the excellent service. Exceptional value for money. Im looking forward to seeing you again !
Wow! Excellent food, price $$$ THANKS
Very bad experience. To avoid. The owner is very rude. Too bad for the people who work in this establishment.
Excellent meal, but it was above all the exceptional service (despite the wait) that stood out to me. Although there were some delays due to unforeseen events in the kitchen, we were pampered by the staff. I really appreciated the refined side in complementarity with the warm side. Its not the kind of restaurant Im used to, but it was a unique experience for me. I recommend this restaurant for the kindness of the staff and the excellent flavors found in the dishes. (For those who prefer large portions at low cost, it is perhaps better to avoid... but otherwise, I recommend the beef which is a real delight!) THANKS!
A friend and I were lucky enough to have Yann, the owner at our table (and around) with whom we were able to discuss the excellent meal we enjoyed but also benefit from his oenological knowledge. Perfect evening. It would be a crime to stay in Quebec and not honor such a good establishment with your presence. Even worse to be passing through and not stop there. Get ready Yann...we will be back.
Thank you very much, we had excellent service and a great meal. Looking forward to seeing you eventually at your restaurant. P.S. The price of the crab salad may be surprising, but was worth every bite.
Spectacular!!! Creativity assured, the 2 owners with in-depth knowledge of sommelier will be able to advise you wisely so that your agreement is as fair as possible. It was a delight for the palate, the Korean chicken and its accompaniments charmed the table. Le Bleu Marine is probably the best kept secret in Quebec City. Of exceptional quality, without breaking the bank, it is now on my list of the best restaurants west of the Rio Grande A must
Owners on the mark! Incredible service!
Not sure why google is not showing as the new and current name but it is now Bleu Marine. Food and service were top notch throughout the entire meal. Love the atmosphere and would highly recommend for all. The appetizers were perfectly cooked and you can tell each bite was carefully thought through as well as the wine to be paired with it. Can t say enough about our experience!! Will definitely come again on the next trip to Quebec City!!
Impeccable and warm service on a lively terrace on Rue Saint-Jean, a happy and tasty marriage of seasonal flavors, a favorite for the spice syrup served for dessert on a Tiramisu-inspired mousse: a new relaxed gastronomic address to discover in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste district.
Tasty, good service, excellent choice of wine but...much too expensive for the quantity on the plate. Main dishes are more like starters.
Exquisite dishes, sumptuous food and wine pairing. Very friendly owner. Go there, you will be charmed!
A great discovery in Quebec. The staff is warm and attentive and we enjoyed the 5-course discovery menu. Very reasonable prices and portions. The lobster bisque and white tuna tataki were sublime! THANKS!
Amazing food, and friendly service!
The restaurant is now called Bleu Marine. Impeccable service. Great selection of raw/natural wines. The food is delicious. All dishes were cooked to perfection. The combination of fresh ingredients with the chefs/cooks personal touches made the dinner experience exceptional. I highly recommend this place.
Came here with my husband thinking it was a completely different restaurant, left so glad we came to Bleu Marine! The food was DELICIOUS ( scallops and duck cooked perfectly), unique and the staff was so kind, gracious and knowledgeable. Look forward to coming back. Highly recommend
The food was delicious and the service impeccable. The food and wine pairings offered are perfect. We loved our experience at Bleu Marine.
Stopped by this place today. Ordered a beer. Beer came. Asked for a menu. Menu took a long time to come (they were not that busy; we were one of three out on the sidewalk). Looked at menu. We waited, Im not kidding, 10 minutes for the guy to come back. Other waiters came out and brought food to the other outside tables; no one asked us a thing. I ended up going inside to pay for my beer and four guys were behind the bar. None of them seemed overly engaged in anything (including serving customers). Ended up going to Chez Victor down the road (amazing service and food there!). So bad service turned us off. Was not impressed.
Two friends recommended this place to me and I must say, I definitely was not disappointed. The food was well presented, the portions were fair, and the quality and taste were superior. The staff really took the time to explain their wines (all of which are special imports by the way!), and I was impressed by the fact that they let us try samples of different bottles before selecting what we liked best. They also serve half-glasses which is fantastic if you are interested in trying several different bottles. To top it off, the ambiance is beautiful. Fair warning, it is not cheap (but keep in mind that the price is indeed fair for what you get). Highly recommend Le Moine and hope to visit again soon!
So good!
We came for the wine! There were lots of interesting choices to sample. You can order some of the wines from their website as well. We ordered a few small dishes - expect tapas-size dishes rather than large meals. Nice ambiance and friendly staff.
Very passionate employees - Very good service.
Nice place to treat yourself with very good products.
Great experience! Anyone who says they like good wine must stop by here. No choice!
Amazing!
Great wine bar. The sommelier came out with two bottles of rose and one of white for us to try and see what we liked better. We settled for one of the rose, which we had with smelts with squid ink mayonnaise that was delicious. Great experience sitting outside people watching
Best meal we had in Quebec.
Great wine and ambiance
Very fresh products, however the flavors are uneven. The salmon ceviche and sweet potato acras are to be recommended (and also gluten and dairy free). Relaxed atmosphere, not noisy. The service deserves a little more attention. The bathroom is unfinished basement style!
It s rare to find good and risky restaurants in the province of Quebec. This is a good one, one of the best. That means tolerating a few things that didn t work so well. We tried almost the whole menu. Almost all was very good. Thank you.
Perfect
Too much too expensive. Almost $200 for 4 with only 2 glasses of wine. We leave there still hungry. Clearly excessive!
It was a quiet evening after rain do it was quiet. Selecting wines was a lot of fun. Well try this. No, well I think you will like this The food was like tapas. The chef creative and not afraid to reach a bit. We really enjoyed it. We really liked the server.
Interesting, non traditional flavors and dining experience.
Very small and scarce portions for the price paid. We ordered some meat tortellini and they literally came with 2 tortellini and the rest were green beans and mushrooms and the price was 14 dollars. Additionally, the 3 people who went got sick to their stomach. I dont recommend it!!!
Most inventive meal - we had beef tongue tartare marinated and served with blueberries (incredible), sea asparagus (amazing), polenta with a cream sauce (yum) and with each course we were treated to a wine pairing that was right on the mark. Finished with an orange wine - never heard of it, but it was the most delicious wine. Our server Etienne was knowledgeable, friendly and a great pleasure to talk with. Highly highly recommend!
Best restaurant in Quebec in my opinion. And always amazing selection of natural wines.
It was good and its closed now.
