Casual contemporary space for a menu of fresh regional dishes, fine wines & craft beers.
This is one of those restaurants where you know going into it that it's going to be an AMAZING overall experience. We sat at the bar, which I highly recommend. I feel like it gave a more personalized, intimate experience! They really made us feel like we were dining with an old friend! Our server/bartender was amazing!! He paired wine suggestions perfectly with the various things we ordered, and he gave us a glass of this DELICIOUS wine that he went and got specially for us from their wine storage. They were also playing vinyl and having so much fun putting on different records, adding even more to the cool, fun, but cozy atmosphere. We ordered a bunch of different things, and everything was so well-crafted and perfectly executed. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the beef tartare. Definitely the best I've ever had. It was so tempting to try everything on the menu - and we almost did! This truly wasn't just *any* restaurant. This was an EXPERIENCE and one of the best ones at that. Buvette Scott, I will be back!!!
From the moment I walked into this charming restaurant, I knew I was in for something special. The ambiance is cozy with soft lighting. The food was extraordinary. You can tell the chef puts their heart and soul into every dish. The attention to detail was remarkable — the pairing of flavors, textures, and ingredients was perfectly executed. The wait staff were not just professional; they were genuinely kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. It felt like they truly cared about making our experience exceptional. Without a doubt, this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The combination of incredible food, thoughtful service, and a beautiful, cozy atmosphere made for an unforgettable dining experience. I can’t wait to return!
The food was exceptional, and our lovely waitress recommended ordering half the cart, which seemed plentiful for four people. However, I feel ordering individual dishes would have been better, as some items, like the fish, were difficult to share in such small portions. While the food, ambiance, and service were wonderful, the sharing option isn't ideal for a group of four. Even nearby diners mentioned feeling hungry. It’s sad to leave with a $358 bill and still feel hungry. This option might work better for smaller groups or individual orders. But thank you for the lovely evening
We had an incredible meal/experience at Buvette Scott, and it was a true highlight of our trip to Québec. Each plate (we had many!) was delicious and beautifully presented. The servers are all clearly passionate about both the food and wine, and were all incredibly friendly as well. The small space and intimate, casual atmosphere belies the quality and attention to detail in each dish. We feel fortunate to have stumbled upon it and implore anyone visiting Québec not to miss out on the experience.
Incredible cuisine with local ingredients and a new menu every week perfectly befitting the season. Excellent timing for dishes. The bilingual servers are wonderful and enthusiastic about the cuisine, which, paired with the intimate ambiance, elevates the experience even further. Absolutely would return the next time I’m in Quebec City!
Intimate, mostly delicious food. Staff, ambiance, like visiting old friends. Great signature duck ham. Morels stuffed with chicken wings most unique dish of the night. More on Eatingwithziggy[.com]
Fantastic food, fabulous wine, phenomenal service - what more do you want? The dishes are delicious and considered - I mean, have you ever had morels stuffed with chicken wing meat? Wine from Georgia, Jura, Macedonia, and more. And crucially - friendly, knowledgeable, and happily bilingual service.
Everything about this place is exquisite. From the cozy dining room to the lovely service and the menus, it’s clear this restaurant is at the top of its game. The wine menu is fun yet approachable. The food menu mirrors those same themes, with a strong focus on what’s currently in season. I had the duck ham, the stracchino with tomatoes and cucumbers, and the asparagus with chicken stuffed morels. All of which I’d order again with gusto. I actually think the stuffed morels might be the best dish I’ve had in years. Everything is done with intention, and I’m so happy I came across this place. I will be back as soon as I can. What a treat!!!
I didnt like my experience, firstly, the menu is very confusing, we dont know exactly if its main courses or starters, we think were ordering a dish for around thirty dollars, and when it arrives it has the size of a starter therefore having to have another dish. In the end we end up with a bill which is around $100 per person. Far too much staging around the design of the dishes, the waiters are very good at explaining in very (too much) detail with completely unnecessary information. In the end a disappointment because it was excessively expensive for the portions offered. However the sea bass was good, but the lobster bisque extremely salty and more pleasant.
I recently dined at Buvette Scott, and while the food was decent (not mind-blowing), the experience was overshadowed by rude service and frustratingly slow pacing. Dishes were served one at a time, with 20-30 minute gaps between each small plate. After nearly two hours of waiting, I asked for the check, even though we hadn t received our final dish. Instead of apologizing, the maître d dismissively informed me that this is supposed to be a 2.5 to 3-hour experience and that we re not in America here. This comment felt not only unnecessary but downright obnoxious. While the restaurant may pride itself on creating a leisurely European-style dining experience, the execution came across as neglectful and inconsiderate. Unless you enjoy prolonged waiting for tiny portions and don t mind condescension from staff, I cannot recommend Buvette Scott.
Exceptional in every way, from the service to the food. Every dish we had exceeded our expectation. One of the top dining experiences we ve had in recent memory.
Beautiful restaurant that gives the impression of being in an apartment through its front door. The menu was very good, quite complex in the dishes. On the other hand, the price of the plates was quite high (but I know, it is because of their complexity that it deserved this price). Sometimes I felt that the dishes lacked taste according to their description in the menu. BUT All the same, I am satisfied with my experience at this little restaurant and, of course, I recommend it, the menu is diverse, unique and above all very interesting :) The oysters were very good and of good quality. There are several kinds of wine too, and the waiters recommend dishes to go with the wine in question! The waitress was super nice. And the other service members were really chill and welcoming.
Quality ingredients + outstanding cooking + incredible service = A++ experience. Phenomenal service from Leo and will definitely revisit if I come back to Quebec City. Apple Tartelette was absolutely divine.
Excellent! Both the quality of the food and the service! Refined local dishes without any fuss. Whether here or at Sardines. Cozy restaurant, perfect for sharing tapas with family and friends. And I forgot, best razor clams in town
Amazing place. The food is excellent. Small, friendly restaurant.
Great find on our recent trip to Quebec. A short walk from the old city. Reservations a must. I counted 25 seats including those at the bar. Multiple groups were turned away while we dined as not a seat was empty for 2 hours. Wonderful farm to table approach. They make their own cheese and pasta and butcher their own meat. Imaginative dishes and wide ranging, well priced, wine list. Food was great. Service was impeccable - personable, helpful, but still professional while fluently bilingual.
Food was good with fresh ingredients, but we were quite hungry after ordering the 4 plates recommended. Waited about 30 mins between each plate, which would ve been okay if plates were more filling. Menu is small, as were the dishes, and modifications they can make for dietary restrictions was limited.
Vincent was nice, helpful, informative, AND answered all of our questions about the food, music, and favorite local places. Everyone at Buvette Scott was friendly. It was an intimate atmosphere with great music. We loved sitting at the bar and watching the food come together. The food was all so fresh and everything was delicious. We are so glad we got in! Thank you. Would highly recommend!
Good Canadian food
Wow! Wow! And again wow! Service + food Great discovery
What a wonderful restaurant. The food, service, and space were all exceptional. All ingredients are incredibly fresh and flavorful. Each dish was exciting, delicious, and unique. Highly recommend stopping by. Restaurant has 3 outdoor tables that are dog friendly (we visited in August), and the staff were very kind to our dog. I recommend making a reservation, we visited on a Saturday and were able to walk in right at opening but the restaurant filled up quickly. Thanks so much to David and everyone else that made the meal wonderful!
My husband and I tried to eat here for our wedding anniversary and the man (I assume the host) was very rude, scoffed, and laughed in our face when we asked for a table. He then said they are too busy. The restaurant was almost entirely empty and we arrived early at opening. He scoffed when we asked if we could even just eat at the bar, and gave a sarcastic response. There was no need for attitude. Maybe it was because we didn t speak French.
This was the best place we ate in Quebec City, hands down.
Extraordinary food and service!
Kid-friendliness: Not really kid-friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible Food : 5/5 |
We have been twice so far and had great evenings there! The dishes (I really like their vegetable dishes which are not flat and very tasty), the atmosphere, the choice and advice on wine, the service, everything is perfect. They are passionate people and it shows!
I was shocked that I got a 3-star experience at a place with a 4.8-star rating. The glass of wine is $12, the pour size is so small that I can finish in 1 sip. All the dishes portions are so small but charge full entree price. I came because of the reviews, but I walked out regrettably. Only the duck ham was charged reasonably. The bill was $145 for 2, we left hungry.
I can t add more stars to this place, definitely one of the most magical places I ve ever been to in Canada! Food is amazing, so was the atmosphere and the staff! Food
Thank you to the entire Buvette Scott team for this wonderful time in Quebec . We are very happy to have stumbled upon this little rough diamond. Unlimited culinary creativity, honest, fresh ingredients and the staff is so kind that you could stay eating and drinking forever . It was beautiful and magical and we cant wait for our next visit. Beautiful discovery and great continuity in your creativity
Difficult to be more friendly, the cook is seriously a machine, never been seated other than at the (4+) bar because it is probably one of the most interesting geological points in Canada.
A little hidden gem. The quality of the cuisine, the always exceptional and attentive service as well as the atmosphere. I would give it 6 stars out of 5! Try the scallops. Wow!
I was recommended this spot by a local, and it didnt disappoint. The staff was beyond amazing. I had taken a spot at the bar (unknowing you needed a reservation) and they worked the room so that I could enjoy my meal! The oysters were incredibly fresh, but the spaghetti was UNBELIEVABLE. You can tell when a restaurant makes its own pasta, and does it well. Amazing dish. Thank you again to the amazing staff for a wonderful evening!
Very nice discovery, delicious dishes, local products, warm atmosphere, attentive service. I cant wait to go back!!
Great food and wonderful service! Highly recommend!
Simply one of the best meals we have ever had. Just order anything on the menu. It will fall somewhere between good to magnificent depending on your pallet. Loved the inmate setting and great service.
A great dining experience. Incredible food, wonderful wines, and genuinely nice staff. I thought the endive dish was the best thing I would eat all year until we had the next course, lemon agnolotti, which was heaven on earth.
Superb dining experience. Amazing food.
This was one of the most memorable dining experiences of my life. The coziness! The service! The craftsmanship! I ve never felt so taken care of and cared about at a restaurant before. You can tell how much the folks who work there truly CARE about what they do. The food and wine were out of this world. I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more just to be the girl who walks 500 miles to fall down at Buvette Scott s door.
Wow what a restaurant!! Nothing negative to say, its really a must in Quebec. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is warm and what can I say about the service! Our server was passionate and it showed in his service. To discover!!
The atmosphere is warm, the food is excellent quality and we have always had incredible service with great wine recommendations. For several years, it has remained our #1 choice when we stay in Quebec.
The best dinner during our stay in Quebec. Very efficient, warm and friendly service. All the dishes were delicious and interesting, both for the presentation and the search for textures and flavors. The mignonette with the oysters was superb. My favorite was without a doubt the hedgehog hydne which completely surprised me with its almost meaty flavor and also the delicious tangy sauce in which it was bathed. This dish was a real success. My only slight disappointment was the winter truffle which had no taste, placed on the potato pavement, even if it was very beautiful in terms of presentation. The duck ham and beef cheek were also good. Very nice experience in general and wonderful evening. I will come back without hesitation during my next visit to Quebec.
After four enjoyable visits in recent years, I feel the need to emphasize the extent to which it is an essential address for Quebec gastronomy. Both the service, the decor and the dishes are impeccable. The staff is passionate about their products and fascinating in their explanations, while trying to adapt to the tastes and knowledge of the customers. They dont hesitate to let us taste their bottles to help us make our choices; we find what were looking for even if we have difficulty differentiating between regions, grape varieties and winemaking techniques and our oenological lexicon is limited to I like that and I dont like that. The glass service and small plates to share allow you to travel through a wide range of flavors. The freshness and depth of the dishes highlight local ingredients with unsuspected virtues. Apart from the bill which can add up quickly, especially with a slight elbow (you have to remember that you are paying for a trip, not for a dinner), the burden on us is to choose from the dishes offered. But dont hesitate too much: be confident that everything will be delicious. In short, congratulations for the hydne with parsley cream and dill... and everything else.
Its my favorite restaurant. Extraordinary service, sophisticated cuisine and cozy atmosphere. This restaurant is just perfect
Wonderful discovery, immaculate cuisine with local products, impeccable service. The cozy atmosphere can become cacophonous when the restaurant is at full capacity.
food and drinks were excellent. service looked like it was great for everyone else in the restaurant but our server didnt seem to want to wait on us. maybe it was because we had kids with us? or he just didnt like us? either way, it was disappointing, because everything else about this place was 5 stars.
A big favorite on Saturday February 17th in the evening for Buvette Scott. Courteous and cheerful service, charming atmosphere in this small restaurant near rue St-Jean which has nothing to envy. The dishes are stunning in flavor. The owner describes them with nuance and the composition of the dishes is more than refined. She is exceptional. Divine sauces. Flavor pairings a discovery. Scallop dishes, beef cheeks, etc. everything is to be shared for an incredible experience. The major arteries can be restored. La Buvette Scott will be an event not to be missed. Already in the entrance a group came from Montreal to taste whose taste buds were sharpened so much that we were under the spell of the assets of this restaurant.
fantastic!
Wow, what a beautiful evening! The food is delicious and the people who work there are so friendly. One of the best restaurants I have eaten at in Quebec and maybe even in Quebec!! I cant wait to go back. Thank you for this wonderful evening!
Very glad to have found this intimate space. Vibes were great from the start. Passionate and involved hosts made us feel at home while we munched through the tasting menu. Would so recommend this place for progressive cooking and a distinctive natural wine list. Love it.
An excellent meal (it s an experience!). The value for money is very good and the service attentive. We loved the dishes we chose and the wine selection is interesting. Only negative point for us was comfort/space. It s a very small restaurant and it s relatively noisy, but it s worth the detour!
People review about hidden gems but this truly is the archetypal Hidden Gem - small, off the beaten track, excellent value for money, FANTASTIC warm and friendly but informative service - Dave you are a star! Great wine list, even better cocktails. Food - stunning, eclectic, each mouthful bursts with flavour - OUTSTANDING! Very tiny restaurant and therefore few covers so book early!
La Buvette Scott is a real discovery, probably our new favorite restaurant. We liked the choice of wine, the atmosphere, the concept of a menu on a slate that renews, the service and what can we say about the food: a real delight. It s a culinary experience to do again and again. We cant wait to discover their next menu!!
Unique dining experience and exceptional service.
Je dont have caviar but its not bad
Great experience!
This place is amazing! We went last night for early dinner. It was the best time. One of the owners served us and he was tres charmant, made the best recommendations. We had oysters to start, so fresh! He suggested the white wine from Loire which tasted like candy after the oysters - the perfect pair! It went nicely with the rest of our meal: char with leeks (sooo buttery), beets, and chicken with morels to finish. Everything was perfectly executed. We had to have a second round of oysters for dessert. Service had personal touches and expert explanations for each dish. You can tell, this is a place where passion and professionalism marriage perfectly. Seasonal and local menu, which is our favourite kind. Thank you for perfection! See you again soon :)
We visited Buvette Scott earlier today and we were absolutely floored by the amazing service and food! The oysters were absolutely delicious. They were paired with horseradish, lemon and a house-made apple cider vinegar. Absolutely amazing and we ended up ordering a second round later. The artic char was stunning, flaking and coated with a sauce Maltese. We enjoyed this dish, and were honestly surprised how well it was prepared. The celery and leeks that were served with it were finely cooked and didnt overpower the fish at all. The roasted beets with radicchio, cheese and fried wild rice was an amazing palette cleanser. The four ingredients came together very well and it was so interesting having the different flavours mix and work together. The last dish we had was the chicken breast served with morels and green peas. Absolutely stunning, the chicken was juicy and sweet, with the morels adding a nice touch of savoury to it. The strawberry sorbet that we got was delightful refreshing and not overpoweringly sweet. We liked it a lot, and enjoyed the light finish it offered. We were also served by the owner, who was an extremely charismatic and knowledge guy. He honestly made our experience so much better, providing recommendations for a white wine pairing and providing in depth descriptions of each dish, absolutely delving into the details of the ingredients and looking excited to discuss the flavours and comments of the dishes. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Buvette Scott, as we certainly will visit again!!
Nothing but good things to say about this place. The food was fresh and flavourful, some of the best food I ve had. The server Dave made it a whole experience by explaining the dishes, remembering our names, and recommending a delicious wine. Sad we don t live here as we want to come back all the time.
Excellent service and good dishes in the Starters formula.
We had a great time at the Scott Buvette! The service is impeccable and the food extraordinary!
Incredible dinner, high caliber. The best service I have received in my life, thank you Étienne!
All the dishes were excellent and the service exceptional! Relaxed atmosphere and inspired music. The art of entertaining at its peak! Thanks to the server Étienne and the whole team!
We were served directly by the boss, and everything was really delicious. Even when overwhelmed, we take the time to explain the composition of the dish, the origin of each ingredient and what it will bring to the dish. Truly incredible. The restaurant is also very small, quite intimate with dim lighting. It s a really nice atmosphere.
Impeccable service and excellent food and wine pairing advice. Unpretentious and very warm, reasonable prices.
What a great discovery! From the warm welcome to the impeccable service, we were served by a passionate waiter. Listening to him write out the menu and his wine suggestions was like hearing poetry! The surprising and delicate flavors of all the dishes we savored really amazed us! Well done to the chefs! I declare this restaurant the best in the province! :)
Amazing! I highly recommend booking. We were lucky to come unexpectedly. The service is super pleasant and warm! The food is really good. An intimate and tasty place
This place was absolutely amazing! Best place we went to in Quebec! Service was perfect, meal was nicely paced. Food was so delicious. Our waiter took the time to explain everything in each course. Romantic vibe as well. The space is a little small, so you probably want to make sure you have a reservation (although their is a little bit of bar seating). Highly recommend!!
The best place
I am glad we found this restaurant which is a little bit off the beaten path. We ordered oysters, Nordic shrimp, snow crab and beef tongue. They were very well prepared. It is a delicacy experience during our visit in Quebec. Very impressed!
We had such a delicious and convivial experience at Buvette Scott; it would be a must for a return trip to the city. I loved its unassuming and neighborhood atmosphere. The service was stellar, and the food was local and delicious. The limited menu serves the small space well, and allows for excellent execution. The duck ham is exceptional. Oysters were perfect and came with a homemade vinegar that is one of the best oyster accompaniments I ve had anywhere. The beef tongue dish made me smile- tasty and right up my alley with the pairing of escarole, and zesty sauce, and pickled mustard seeds. I was so pleased to be enthusiastically offered really great nonalcoholic pairings. The Mikkeller Riesling beer and a local cider were refreshing and clean-flavored (often nonalcoholic offerings don t pair well with food! Great choices.) Our server was so genuine and kind, a true Québécois.
Our experience at the refreshment bar was simply incredible! From the audacity and comfort of the dishes, the accuracy of the wines offered, the human and accessible service and the friendly atmosphere without artifice, we were charmed from A to Z! It is already certain that as soon as we set foot in Quebec again, we will book at the refreshment bar for a second, most pleasant experience! I have to say that Im a little jealous not to have a Scott refreshment bar in Montreal! Congratulations to the entire Buvette Scott team! Thank you for giving us such an evening! Alexandra and Carole, and the baby on the way! ;)
Yet another hidden gem. Fabulous food, wine, beer and service. A must book restaurant as there are limited tables. Mostly locals which is a testament to quality but as a tourist who is seeking out unusual high quality local food and drink we were warmly welcomed as VIP diners. We will be back.
Best service in town! Warm welcome and incredible food!
So happy I was able to make reservations (which are a must)for this sweet little spot on our first night in Québec City! The food was original and outstanding. Our server, Leo, was welcoming and informative- we could tell he was passionate about the food and wine- as are we! When I made the reservation I noted that we do not eat meat and he remembered that and helped us pick options from the menu that worked for us (and there were many). The oysters were the best we have ever had- and with the happy hour special amazingly inexpensive. Overall amazing value for a unique and I enjoyable dining experience. Vegetarian options: Multiple options without meat but would be more difficult for vegans as most had dairy or seafood
Excellent food, local Quebec products cooked simply but brilliantly. A must-try in Quebec!
One of the best dining experiences I ve ever had. Concise menu, wine list, beers and cocktails curated beyond perfection. Stunning selections only. Bar server last night guided us with a custom pairing. Vibes are right with spinning vinyl. Friendly and welcoming crew. Spring asparagus and shrimp with Halibut roe dill mint and buttermilk dressing - wow.
Great place, great welcome and excellent food. Vegetarian options: On demand. Wheelchair accessibility: Difficult
excellent food centered on seasonal veggies, fantastic service, and a great soundtrack of curated vinyls in a casual environment. nonalcoholic options I hadnt tried including a great cider. would definitely come back!
Incredible dishes and super memorable meal. This must be on your places to eat if youre visiting Quebec City.
Quaint little restaurant with exceptional dishes and cocktails/wine. We sat at the bar and had a lot of fun watching the food and drinks being made to perfection. Nice vibe and knowledgeable staff.
Lovely food, lovely service, nice little intimate setting. However waited 15 minutes in the tiny corridor to be seated for an 8pm reservation. Five share plates came out over the course of 2.5 hours. I must ve been visibly impatient by the fourth, as the waiter explained that this is a place where we like to take our time to enjoy . Fair enough, that s something I d normally be on board for, but not that late, and not when the amount of food served doesn t make up for the half hour wait between each plate. It seemed there were only two staff working in the kitchen with a full restaurant, so not the fault of the wait staff. Would not recommend coming here on an empty stomach, as I unfortunately made the mistake of.
Wow!! Honestly the service is more than perfect, the food is to die for with their warm atmosphere Buvette Scott is I LOVED it!
Fantastic dining experience. Incredibly warm and welcoming. Don t miss out on an opportunity to visit.
This place is an entire vibe. Super local, highly curated, and unique. Local and daily fresh ingredients and cocktails made this feel like a true market and farm to table experience.
One of my all time favorite restaurants, anywhere. My party of four took down 8 dozen oysters, multiple orders of almost all the appetizers and at least a half dozen entrees. Wonderful food. Foie gras toast was exquisite. Loved the tomatoes and peppers. Waitress was great; gave us outstanding food recommendations for the rest of our trip
They serve everything in a special way. If you like trying new things, you should visit this place. Definitely worth trying.
Best restaurant in Quebec, without hesitation!
I loved it. One of my best meals. Each dish was refined and delicious.
Best restaurant in Quebec
Fantastic experience, we ordered more than 3/4 of the menu and all the dishes were delicious. I recommend for lovers of good food and culinary experience. The quality of the dishes and drinks is astonishing. The owners cook and serve you with impeccable service. You will not be disappointed.
Good taste but quantity too small for the price.
My wife and I had an amazing time last night. Leo was delightful. the food was amazing. Really cant praise this place enough.
Amazing service and delicious food. Loved the tomatoes and the porchetta especially! The smoked herring dip with gnoccho fritto and the gnudi were also Thanks for the recommendations and attentive hospitality!
One of the best experience I ve ever had in Quebec city, food was phenomenal, Marina was super nice, cozy lovely little restaurant
The best restaurant in Quebec in my opinion. Impeccable service. Exquisite food that changes according to the seasons and arrivals. Magnificent inventory of natural wines. Don t hesitate to mention your preferences, the servers will find what you like.
A culinary experience you will never forget. First, you are nuzzled in the comfy and welcoming confines of the sweet establishment. Progressively, you begin to feel like you re eating with family. The service was exceptional with a kind and friendly approach to each customer. The food well, it was like traveling through a gastronomical masterclass, each dish elevating the experience of being in such a special place.
When a place calls themselves unassuming - this is what they think they are. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, but the food is upscale and creative, all of which is rounded out by the staff who were as knowledgeable as they were friendly. Their limited menu allows for fresh, exciting opportunities to take small steps outside of your comfort zone, and have the best experience possible. We not only would return here, out of every option available in Quebec, but would also quickly reccomend to anyone looking for a culinary experience.
A perfect neighbored restaurant. Inventive tasty food, great service, and reasonable prices.
Super nice evening! Excellent food and excellent wine. The servers are very knowledgeable, let us advise you. Good price for food quality. Im going back for sure!
2nd time Ive been there and always a great evening. The quality of the dishes, original, sophisticated, delicate, is indisputable (the scallops with corn cream. A delight!) The service is perfect: smiling, relaxed, warm, professional, good advice for wines. The team is obsessed with the map and will know how to sell it to you!! And all for a very very reasonable price. In short, dont hesitate!!
Absolutely exceptional service and food!
Good living people!
Great food - top ingredients - original and surprising and damn good - special mention to the cabbage, tofu, honey, apple, Korean chili plate. The service was also top notch, the person who served us knew the menu and the dishes and took the time to explain and chat and gave very good advice on the choice of wines. We feel passion. Nice and intimate atmosphere while maintaining a very relaxed side. Excellent value for money for the level of cooking, the originality, the taste and the ingredients and the quantities are absolutely correct (we share the dishes as we go along...) - great experience for a fair price on the market . My girlfriend and I fell in love with this restaurant!!!
I go there regularly! Super friendly little restaurant! Delicious dishes, suggestions for well-targeted wine pairings!
This has been, and Im sure will be, one of the best evenings of my life. The food, the service, the care and time taken in the recommendations for wine, the description of the plates served, the atmosphere, the whole night!!! It has been absolutely memorable! Compliments to the chef(s), and thank you to our server and sommelier Leo!
Very good food made from local products! Very expensive ($85/person)! You shouldnt go there too often. But when I think about it... there is nothing better (good and inexpensive) than a good Tonkinese soup or a good biryani rice for $10-15!
Initially came for the happy hour oysters but the aroma from the kitchen made us stay for the entire dinner. Everything we tried was fantastic and we were very lucky to get the only two free seats without reservations. Cocktails were great too. One of the highlights of our trip! The only downside is that we wished we had one more night to dine here again.
In solo mode at the bar, everything was perfect. Excellent discovery, the small dishes sought after and fresh. very good service.
My boyfriends birthday couldnt be at a better place. I recommend this refreshment bar to all my friends who pass through Quebec!
The cuisine was exceptional, the service impeccable. I recommend it to anyone who wants to treat themselves to a culinary experience in a warm place.
Very nice restaurant with contemporary cuisine, fresh products and always great explanations from the waiters. We shared several dishes and everything was delicious!!! We will come back.
Although a Montrealer, I must admit that La Buvette is my favorite restaurant of the year. Warm atmosphere, absolutely delicious and inventive cuisine AND charming service.
Highly recommended. Delicious food. Cozy service. Comfortable atmosphere.
Delicious dishes, with seasonal products, perfectly prepared and which will surprise you!
Top from start to finish. We had a wonderful evening. Friendly service, fresh and sophisticated food highlighting quality products. We tasted 3/4 of the menu, no disappointment. 100% recommended!
Its been a long time since I enjoyed such delicious oysters. I would have eaten it all evening, but I had to taste the culinary creations of the place. Special mention to the agnoletti.
Truly an unpretentious place Dont get me wrong! The exterior is no guarantee of what you will discover inside! Go there without asking any questions, because you really wont be disappointed! Impeccable service, a delectable menu and an inviting wine list! My only regret: The portion of dessert was much too small (hihi)! Ah yes, on the other hand the chairs phew a little much too hard and uncomfortable, but hey it was an excuse not to linger because yes I would have stayed there longer! Please note: as the restaurant is small and very popular, reservations become essential ;-) My next getaway to Qc, I will definitely go back!!
Nothing better in Quebec for an unparalleled gastronomic experience, wines chosen with great care, all in one of the most pleasant atmospheres. I recommend it hands down!
By far my favorite restaurant in Quebec: Exceptional food, quality service and perfect atmosphere. The food/alcohol/music pairing is simply at its peak. THANKS
An exceptional restaurant! Each item on the menu was of impeccable quality and the service was simply excellent. Its intimate, friendly and no need to think twice before booking.
A little treasure to discover! I LOVED it Everything was WoW. For big appetites, you have to order a lot! (This is not a place for my boyfriend who likes big plates )
Everything was perfect! The service, the food and the atmosphere. WOW!
One, if not THE best restaurant in Quebec. We tasted 12 different dishes, we loved everything. Impeccable service.
WOW! Since I moved here in 2020, this is THE BEST food and wine experience I had with my wife. A perfect blend of flavors and pleasure! Leo & Etienne are a duo of server that you will not find that often in a restaurant. The chemistry of them both mixed with the heated weather was the best time we could hoped for on this Friday the 13th!
Original and delicious dishes. Nice wine and beer list. Really a favorite. I will return there during my next visit to Quebec.
Incredible experience as usual!!
Amazing! Truly a memorable experience.
Truly one of the best restaurants in Quebec.
Delicious food. Welcoming staff, to say the least. Good wines. As an extra, excellent music. Were looking for an excuse to come back to Quebec and go back to this restaurant.
From researching the product to plating the plate through to impeccable service, the Scott Buvette just offered us the best meal of our vacation. As good, demanding French people, we were difficult to seduce and the refreshment team met the challenge with flying colors! Special mention for the exceptional bread!
Great night at Buvette Scott! We ordered the asparagus as an appetizer. It was served with juicy morel mushrooms and a fried garlic bread crumb blend - it was perfect. For entrées we had the halibut and lamb chops. The halibut was poached and served in a beurre blanc sauce. Wow, delicious! The lamb chops were cooked to a nice medium rare and served in a white bean, tomato and herbed sauce. It was really well balanced and an overall beautiful dish. Service was casual / laissez-faire and there when you needed it. Enjoyed watching the cooks in the kitchen prepare the dishes with precision and passion. Very highly recommended! Make sure you ask for their apple brandy as a digestif (Calvados), it was great.
The customer service is terrible, the waiters were very rude and treated us badly. It is unfortunate to wait for a two month reservation to get through this dreadful time.
Very nice restaurant. The food is excellent across the board. The service was great too. Many thanks.
Amazing restaurant. Excellent local products. Super warm.
Wonderful menu and service. Each dish better than the last. Prices totally reasonable. Waiter recommended local bottle of cider that was outstanding. These guys have skill. Highly recommend!
Incredible experience from the whole team! Dishes concocted with finesse and without pretension by James and Maxim. In addition to incredible service from Étienne and Léo. Very nice evening and great gastronomic favorite. I highly recommend
Very good atmosphere, variety and very friendly staff. The food is worth the detour and the prices allow you to try everything.
A super convenient grocery store! Close to the neighborhood and people :)
Gourmet quality neighborhood bistro ! Impeccable service, atmosphere and type of bohemian-grandmother style cuisine, high quality products, very good food and wine pairing suggestion, frequent menu changes. Excellent for special occasions (quality still has a price )
It s fresh, it s on the slate, the kitchen knows what it s doing, the skittles to accompany the dishes are perfect. Trust your server, he/she knows his/her products to make the perfect pairings!
A perfect meal! The ingredients were in season and delicious. The care the chefs put into prep translated into great, creative dishes. I can t wait to come back again.
Wow, superb place to drink excellent wine by the glass and order great dishes that can be shared. I went there twice in 3 weeks and the menu evolved according to the chefs mood. I tasted 6 à la carte dishes and without exception they are all exceptional (special star for the zucchini dish which enhances this vegetable). Super well presented plate. The staff is very attentive. It s really a place to discover in Quebec. I dont think there are enough restaurants like this in this city. The path is clear!!
Second night in a row we put our trust in other Google reviewers and second night in a row we were not disappointed! Sat at the bar and enjoyed a great meal at this small lively restaurant.
The best oyster I ever ate, super fresh and clean and delicious. Love it.
Fabulous little restaurant! Delicious seasonal food, lovely ambiance, great music, good service a slice of heaven!
One word: GO! This restaurant was a major highlight of our short stay in Quebec and we are already plotting our return. We were baffled how the oysters were somehow the best we ever had and the gnocco fritto with smoked herring just worked. We ordered 5 things and every single one was a hit. I ll be dreaming of the corn agnolotti for months to come. Thank you for the immaculate vibes . A million stars to this place!
We had some fantastic food while in Quebec and this one may have been my favorite spot. Dave was a suberb host and service wonderful. The food was fantastic and we had to order the duck ham twice because the family loved it so much. It was perfect they provided spoons for entrees as we devoured the sauces in all our entrees. Dessert was equally amazing so don t skip!
What a gem we found in Quebec City. The food is incredibly delicious, ingredients local and fresh, and wide variety of dishes! The arnosphere is very cozy and warm, and service is top notch. And David the host has incredible energy and great sense of humour! He makes the entire experience come alive! The place was so busy that many had to be turned away so if youre planning to visit please do book in advance. Cheers!
La Buvette Scott is quite simply the warmest, friendliest, most attentive experience. Its not feeling like youre being served, but rather that youre received like a friend by attentive, passionate hosts who are oh so knowledgeable about their product, but also about the Quebec region and those from elsewhere. It s the safe bet you can always count on when you want to spend an unforgettable evening. La Buvette Scott is a love story that is far from over...
I think I just had a food orgasm. Reserve ahead. Its worth it.
Very tasty and service was on point. Could be expensive but it depends what expensive means to you.
Eating at Buvette Scott and their sister restaurant Sardines were our two best meals in Quebec City. Everything was incredibly delicious. Its not cheap but definitely worth it for some of the best dishes youll find.
Do yourself a favor and go here!! Everything is fantastic. You can not go wrong. Local cuisine, farm to table. The server was fantastic and helped us pick the food. Small intimate feeling with a cosy vibe. The lobster bisque was the best I ve eaten.
The staff is very welcoming, the quality of the dishes is superb, however the size of the dishes is very very small for the cost.
Cannot recommend this place enough for brunch. Their gluten-free selections were on point with quality ingredients and delicious cocktails.
Great service, nice friendly place with great choice of food.
Excellent neighborhood restaurant, we came from Sherbrooke on recommendation and it was worth it! We will recommend it in turn! The atmosphere, the alcohol and especially the food, everything was perfect!
THANKS. Thank you for this wonderful evening. My mother was visiting me for her first time in Quebec, I wanted to introduce her to a place that I particularly like. The service and the kitchen knew how to make this moment exquisite by bending over backwards to offer him the dishes while taking into account his many allergies. Hats off and thank you for this moment of beautiful cooking! Dietary restrictions: Possibility for allergies
This was a hidden gem. A small establishment hidden away on the side of a building, can be easily missed. The interior is simple with almost an upscale feel (not an interior designer). The staff are kind, very knowledgeable and very descriptive. We literally translated everything while we waited for the bar. The bar is nice, you get to see a glimpse of the magic in the kitchen. The food selection is quality, oysters at a very good price, a variety of excellent food. Duck ham (canard jambon) was delicious and the mustard pairing was excellent. My wife loved the guinea fowl pate (parfait), she said it was probably the best pate she has ever had, spread with the toast it was amazing. I dont recall the French translation but it was like mini croquettes with caviar and fennel with a crab bisque, my goodness it was so divine. (Potatoes are always underrated) This dish was by far one of the best potato dishes I have had. I cant recall our last dish, I believe it was some kind of spinach pasta with almonds/hazelnuts, out of what we got it wasnt our favourite but it was still tasty and very different from what we have eaten. There was a lot of crunch in every bite, it is a nut heavy dish but I would still ask for seconds if I could. Buvette was amazing, our first dinner in QC city and we were amazed by the offerings. We cant wait to go back!
Eat here but plan your reservation early!! Food is divine. Atmosphere is lovely -- simple and small but with a palpable warmth to it. Our waiter gave us great wine recommendations and let us taste a few options to pair with our meal. Perfect spot for a date night that feels elevated but --although its not cheap either-- it doesnt break the bank either.
FANTASTIC!!!!
Excellent dishes full of flavors well highlighted by the choice of ingredients (we tried all the items on the menu except 2). Impeccable service.
EXCEPTIONAL
Our favorite restaurant. We are never disappointed when we go out to Buvette Scott. An exceptional place to discover and let yourself be carried away by the recommendations of the staff!
Pleasant evening and good service! The plates could have been slightly more generous. Sophisticated and original menu!
Small, cozy bar in Quebec, a must! Awesome hole in the wall in Quebec City, a must!
Highly recommended! The food and service was outstanding. Unique, tasty dishes with the friendliest, warmest service I ve experienced in a long time.
This restaurant was the highlight of our visit to Quebec City - highly recommend! Great wine list, delicious food, wonderful host with excellent recommendations!
Impeccable and very friendly service, delicious dishes! The principle of choosing different dishes in small portions allows you to share and taste several flavors! We had a great evening.
Perfect every time! Let Dave advise you on both wines and dishes, he is a maestro at what he does. The whole team in fact.
This is a french experimental tapas bar. No where do I see it labelled as such. The menu rotates based on seasonal ingredients. I was impressed by everything I ate. The oysters were sweet, creamy and not fishy at all. The jamon de canard tasted like real jamon but duck flavored. The lions mane dish was experimental and certainly a success. Such a wide range of textures and flavors. Asian inspired chilly oil, XO sauce, fried rice and beautifully cooked mushrooms. The almond cake with nougat, candied fennel, amaretto icecream, fried crumble was really interesting and tasty as well. Plus, the prices are great for the culinary adventure you get!
Very pleasant experience at the bar where we met a very friendly American couple. Excellent food with very good advice on the extensive wine list.
We loved everything about this place. The personalized attention, the scale of the place, the oysters, the wine, the staff, the food. Whats not to love? We sat at the counter. One review I read said the counter is not comfortable. Im 60 and pretty fussy, yet found it perfectly comfortable, so dont pass it up if that if something you want to consider. Fun to watch what is going on behind the bar and in the kitchen. A really comfortable space with excellent music, played on turntables from their excellent vinyl collection of jazz, samba and more. Please go. It is a great value, and every dish we tried (6) was wonderful.
Stunning! Great everything! 2nd time for me and I will return without hesitation!
Relaxed atmosphere. Sensational food and impeccable service. Nothing negative to say. Well done!
One of the best meals I ve had in a long time. The oysters are an absolute must, as are the sunchokes. Pretty sure the menu changes but it doesn t even matter as EVERYTHING is so tasty and perfectly made. Walk don t run over here!!!
Great food and Great service
